Animal agriculture is responsible for at least 14.5% of global greenhouse gas emissions, more than all transport combined. It must not continue to be shielded from scrutiny and afforded protected status given the severity of the implications. It's not just a climate issue. One in nine of the world's population - almost 800 million people - go hungry, yet enough grain to feed up to 3.5 billion people is fed to livestock. Deforestation is also occurring at an alarming rate with the World Bank estimating that animal agriculture is responsible for up to 91% of Amazon destruction. Nor are the problems a result of just meat production. The dairy industry, far from its perception as an innocuous by-product, is every bit as destructive, alone accounting for roughly 4% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Your average cow produces around 700 litres of methane per day, which is the equivalent of a large 4×4 vehicle travelling 35 miles in a day.” - Jimmy Pierson, Huffington Post ::::: #vegan #regeringen #aftonbladet #plantbased #vegoiskolan #vegovision #skolverket #plantpower #earthling #vegans #veganfood #svtplay #miljöpartiet #crueltyfree #veganliving #veganeats #health #govegan #expressen #nymo #compassion #efterfem #sverigesradio - #regrann https://www.instagram.com/p/B29l0rCpJcg/?igshid=t87d1hrwrebf

🤔 Because humans make no sense and if they actually stopped to think about half the stupid shit they do they’d wake up. 😉 #Repost @veganinnumbers ・・・ Yeah, why is that? It reminds me of the situation in the Baltic Sea. One of the largest ocean dead zones in the world can be found in the Baltic Sea. People are talking about fishes going extinct, but no one have ever raised the fact that we must stop eating them. Peculiar I must say. ::::: #Regram - credit to @veganinnumbers . ::::: ANIMAL AGRICULTURE 👉🏽 KILLING THE CLIMATE & THE PLANET :::: Animal agriculture is also the leading cause of species extinction, ocean dead zones, water pollution, and habitat destruction. Reposted from @veganinnumbers - Love to follow the shift that is taking place in the world at this very moment. Dairy is neither sustainable or ethical, so please have some plantbased alternatives instead. 😀 ::::: #Regram - credit to @vegnews . ::::: THE PUBLIC ARE WAKING UP TO THE DARKEST PART OF FARMING 🐄 ”So, starting from the age of 15 months, the mother cow will usually be artificially inseminated. Farmers mechanically draw semen from a bull, and then force the female cow into a narrow trap, known as a “cattle crush”, where they will brutally impregnate her. When she gives birth, her calf will typically be removed within 36 hours, so the farmers can steal and sell you the milk that is meant for her baby. Wildlife experts say that a strong bond between cow and calf is formed quickly after birth. Following that callous separation, the mother will bellow and scream for days, wondering where her baby is. The answer depends on the gender of the calf. If male, he will probably either be shot and tossed into a bin, or sold to be raised for veal, which delays his death by just a matter of months. But if the calf is female, she will usually be prepared for her own entry into dairy production, where she will face the same cycle of hell that her mother is trapped in: forced impregnation, the theft of her baby, and a return to the cattle crush two or three months later.” - Chas Newkey-Burden, The Guardian ::::: #regeringen #aftonbladet #plantbased #vegoiskolan #vegovision #skolverket #enviromentalist #plantpower #earthling #svtplay #miljöpartiet #crueltyfree #health #efterfem #expressen #nymo #vegansofig #sverigesradio - #regrann https://www.instagram.com/p/BvWvx9Gn55B/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1g4ppa9k0tg16

Are you worried about whether you are getting enough of protein on your Vegan diet? What is your favourite Vegan go-to protein? Read below on why red meat and processed meat should be avoided as source of protein. ::::: - credit to @shaylaquinn . ::::: RED MEAT PROCESSED MEAT & INCREASED CANCER RISK ”Did you know that eating more than 700 grams (raw weight) of red meat a week increases your risk of bowel cancer? Or that the risk of developing bowel cancer goes up 1.18 times for every 50 grams of processed meat eaten per day? The World Health Organization has classified processed meats including ham, bacon, salami and frankfurts as a Group 1 carcinogen (known to cause cancer) which means that there’s strong evidence that processed meats cause cancer. Eating processed meat increases your risk of bowel and stomach cancer. Red meat, such as beef, lamb and pork, has been classified as a Group 2A carcinogen which means it probably causes cancer. Did you know if you’ve had cancer, maintaining a healthy diet can help prevent it from coming back? Current research shows that there are certain chemicals in red and processed meats – both added and naturally occurring – that cause these foods to be carcinogenic. For example, when a chemical in red meat called haem is broken down in the gut, N-nitroso chemicals are formed and these have been found to damage the cells that line the bowel, which can lead to bowel cancer. These same chemicals also form when processed meat is digested. In addition, the nitrite and nitrate preservatives used to preserve processed meat produce these N-nitroso chemicals and can lead to bowel cancer.” - www.cancercouncil.com.au . . . #Repost @the.vegan.joker • • • • • • Stop using straws and stop eating fish, that is the best way to save fish. Fish are also full of mercury through bioaccumulation. ”Because mercury is a persistent substance, it can build up, or bioaccumulate, in living organisms, inflicting increasing levels of harm on higher order species such as predatory fish and fish eating birds and mammals through a process know as biomagnification”. Leave the fish in the ocean. ::::: #Regram - credit to @veggiebrothers . ::::: WHAT IS THE TRUE COST OF EATING MEAT 🌏 ”Vegetables have a footprint of about 322 litres per kg, and fruits drank up 962, meat was far more thirsty: chicken came in at 4,325l/kg, pork at 5,988l/kg, sheep/goat meat at 8,763l/kg, and beef at a stupendous 15,415l/kg. Some non-meat products were also pretty eye-watering: nuts came in at 9,063l/kg. To put these figures into context: the planet faces growing water constraints as our freshwater reservoirs and aquifers dry up. On some estimates farming accounts for about 70% of water used in the world today. Farms contribute to water pollution in a range of ways: some of those are associated more closely with arable farming, and some with livestock, but it’s worth remembering that one-third of the world’s grain is now fed to animals. The FAO believes that the livestock sector, which is growing and intensifying faster than crop production, has “serious implications” for water quality. The types of water pollution include: nutrient (nitrogen and phosphorus from fertilisers and animal excreta); pesticides; sediment; organic matter (oxygen demanding substances such as plant matter and livestock excreta); pathogens (E coli etc); metals (selenium etc) and emerging pollutants (drug residues, hormones and feed additives). The impacts are wide-reaching. Eutrophication is caused by excesses of nutrients and organic matter (animal faeces, leftover feed and crop residues) – which cause algae and plants to grow excessively and use up all the oxygen in the body of wate at the expense of other species” - Bibi van der Zee, The Guardian ::::: #vegan #regeringen #aftonbladet #plantbased #vegoiskolan #vegovision #skolverket #efterfem #ear https://www.instagram.com/p/Bx_6XNCnXrs/?igshid=vhq95e6j9r35

Regrann from @the.vegan.joker - 🥥😂 ::::: ::::: 💪🏽 💚 🌱 🍌 🍍 🌍 👌🏽 ::::: ANIMAL AGRICULTURE 👉🏽 KILLING THE CLIMATE & THE PLANET :::: Livestock and their byproducts account for at least 32,000 million tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) per year, or 51% of all worldwide greenhouse gas emissions. Agriculture is responsible for 80-90% of US water consumption. Throughout the world, humans dritnk 5.2 billion gallons of water and eat 21 billion pounds of food each day. Worldwide, cows drink 45 billion gallons of water and eat 135 billion pounds of food each day. Hence the cows consume 6-9 times more than humans. Also, did you know that 2,500 gallons of water are needed to produce 1 pound of beef. Animal agriculture is responsible for up to 91% of Amazon destruction and 1-2 acres of rainforest are cleared every second. The leading causes of rainforest destruction are livestock and feedcrops. Animal agriculture is also the leading cause of species extinction, ocean dead zones, water pollution, and habitat destruction. Livestock operations on land have created more than 500 nitrogen flooded deadzones around the world in our oceans. For you to understand how inefficient animal agriculture is 1.5 acres can produce 37,000 pounds of plant-based food, 1.5 acres can produce 375 pounds of beef.... 70 billion farmed animals are reared annually worldwide. No wonder we need to kill the rainforest grow crops fertilize and destroy our soil and oceans. More than 6 million animals are killed for food every hour. Reposted from @veganinnumbers - ONE OF MY TOP POSTS IN 2018 - Meat eaters need 18 times more land compared to a Vegan. This is the reason to why the rainforest is being destroyed, species are extincted, ocean dead zones are created etc. Stop supporting this. ::::: #Regram - credit to @skool_of_vegan . ::::: UN URGES GLOBAL MOVE TO MEAT & DAIRY-FREE DIET 🌏 ”A global shift towards a vegan diet is vital to save the world from hunger, fuel poverty and the worst impacts of climate change, a UN report said today. As the global population surges towards a predicted 9.1 billion people by 2050, western tastes for diets rich in meat and dairy products are unsustainable, says the report from United Nations Environment Programme’s (UNEP) international panel of sustainable resource management. It says: “Impacts from agriculture are expected to increase substantially due to population growth increasing consumption of animal products. Unlike fossil fuels, it is difficult to look for alternatives: people have to eat. A substantial reduction of impacts would only be possible with a substantial worldwide diet change, away from animal products.” Agriculture, particularly meat and dairy products, accounts for 70% of global freshwater consumption, 38% of the total land use and 19% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions, says the report, which has been launched to coincide with UN World Environment day on Saturday.” - Felicity Carus, The Guardian ::::: #vegan #vegangirl #veganboy #regeringen #aftonbladet #plantbased #vegoiskolan #vegovision #skolverket #enviromentalist #plantpower #earthling #vegans #veganfood #svtplay #miljöpartiet #crueltyfree #vegansofinstagram #veganliving #veganeats #health #govegan #expressen #nymo #vegansofig #compassion #protein #sverigesradio #veganism https://www.instagram.com/the_compassionate_vegan/p/Br3XDjBAmzx/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1rvzwl6y10tqc

So y’all can’t eat tofu cause you’re afraid of too much soy? LoL Look at those stats😉 #Repost @veganinnumbers ・・・ Did you know that 70% of soy is used as animal feed and that 24% is used for Diesel. People tend to think that Vegans eating Soy cause rainforest deforestation, that is a misperception. ::::: #Regram - credit to @milliondollarvegan . ::::: GO VEGAN, SAVE THE PLANET 🌏 ”Choosing plant-based diets can promote environmental sustainability and make the world better, says George Wang. Greenhouse gas Emissions from the production of beef and lamb are 250 times higher than those from legumes, per gram of protein, and pork and poultry are 40 times higher than legumes. A large amount of methane and nitrous oxide, gases that are more than 20 times and 250 times more powerful than carbon dioxide as a greenhouse gas, are generated through livestock-raising activities. Eating meat fuels emission of greenhouse gases and turns much of the world's grain supplies into livestock feed, he says. As public attention focuses on the impact of policy changes on the climate, we may overlook an important contributor to the climate crisis: our food systems and the daily food choices we make. It may sound hyperbolic that our roast beef sandwich is contributing to environmental degradation of the planet. But mounting evidence of the impact requires our attention and action as global citizens. And each of us can do something about it, today, by taking what we eat as seriously as we take climate change. An assessment by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations indicated the contribution of the livestock sector to global greenhouse gas emissions exceeds that of transportation.”

There's this vegan event called Vegovision where I live in a couple of weeks, and I really want to go but I don't have anyone to go with, and I'm generally not comfortable to go to these kind of things on my own. But also I wouldn't really wanna go with any of my friends because they're all carnists so the experience would be lost on them.. I wish I had vegan friends :(
Awww I’m sorry. I think you should totally go tho! You may even meet people there. Maybe you just drop by instead of hanging out for a while. But I support you! You can go alone. I totally feel you tho.
