My guide took me to a "Lek" before sunrise to watch roughly 15 males competing for the attention of the female! The experience of both their calls and display was incredible to say the least! This beautiful yet bizarre looking bird is faced with many issues mostly caused by man with probably the largest problem being deforestation! Nearly 1/3 of our planets forests have been cleared for agricultural animals, which is just one of the reasons why I'm proudly plant-based! We must do all we can to protect nature! Our world is in trouble and its our species fault. The largest consumer of fish worldwide is a herbivore...cows, because it is cheaper than feeding them what they are suppose to eat. In 2007 scientists published a report that we would run out of fish to eat around 2048, if we don't change our present consumption habits to sustainable food. Now Agricultural Animal consumption is the leading cause of most of the world's worst problems including global warming! The choices we all make determine the future of our planet! Image by @jim_abernethy // Learning to Scuba Dive and snorkel at a very early at definitely opened up an unimaginable world to me that I'm forever grateful for! This vibrantly colored Queen Angel is one of the many examples of how beautiful the creatures are! As I look closely at her, I'm humbled blessed and inspired to fight relentlessly to save all our planets wildlife and habitats! Unfortunately for me it is this same long period of time observing the underwater and terrestrial wildlife that brings insurmountable sadness as my early baseline made me watch entire large populations of sharks and other species disappear because of my species! Most of our species is driven to success, thinking that financial freedom is what success it! Very few think like I do! True success is happiness! For me this comes when your mind, your heart, your actions and your drive are all in alignment doing great things for all fellow earthlings, humans and all wildlife! Many of you are pleading with me for solutions on how to help our Amazon and our Planet! Here it is! Right now with the immense destruction of our amazon mostly for the Agricultural Animal industry, clearly the very best thing you can do is to lesson the amount of animals you eat, consider going vegetarian or better than that, become vegan like me! I'm very proudly Vegan as My health has never been better and I know it is exactly what the planet needs most! Image by @jim_abernethy // Years ago scientists noticed the tropical fish were disappearing off the reefs very quickly! They launched a study which concluded that this was caused because 90% of all large sharks had been removed. Buy how are they connected? It is called a trophic cascade. Let me explain. Large sharks feed primarily on secondary level predators like grouper and snapper. With sharks largely removed grouper and snapper populations boomed, which wiped out their prey, first level herbivores that feed on plants and algae. With there population wiped out, algae grew covered the reef, leaving less places to hide and fish that feed on them and wiped them out! The lesson learned is WE ARE ALL CONNECTED. WE MUST PROTECT ALL ANIMALS to protect our planet as well as ourselves! Hope you enjoy this red spotted hawkish, but most importantly the message! One of these creatures is a dirty disgusting vile animal that destroys its only home! The other one is a gorgeous sweet swine! We have a lot to learn from all wildlife as none of them produce trash, destroy their ecosystem or are the cause of our planets 6th extinction! This beautiful Atlantic Spotted Dolphin jumping, for the pure joy of life...is an expression of heart and soul due to the conservation successes we had yesterday, completely protecting the World Class Diving site Blue Heron Bridge at Phil Foster Park, as well as getting all our conservation goals acheived for shore based shark fishing! The gorgeous large Black groupers at Tiger beach are always right in front of my camera...a true photo bomber! I enjoy being with all animals no matter how big or small! Our planets immense biodiversity is what keeps us all alive, as we are all connected! Decades ago when i first discovered that fish were sentient creatures...I stopped eating them! Now that I know that our individual food choices have such huge consequences for the planet as well as my health, i'm proudly vegan!
