Image by @jim_abernethy // Interacting with Wild Dolphins in their world is definitely one of the most enjoyable wild animal interactions I've had the pleasure of experiencing! Frequently, like these dolphins here they will have sex right in front of us! These very intelligent social creatures appear to be having lots of fun all the time! We run 2 different trips to experience their world with them. One is our Wild Dolphin Encounters trip for snorkelers and the other is our Marinelife Overload trip! These wild dolphins are just one of the species were experiencing during our new summer live-aboard trip called..."Marinelife Overload"! We will be targeting encounters with the large aquatic life of both Bahamas and Florida! In the Bahamas we will visit the Little Bahama Bank for Tiger Beach for sharks and the Sugar Wreck for Sea Turtles and other abundant marine life with gorgeous healthy corals. On the Great Bahama Bank we will experience the World's Friendliest Wild Dolphins, Atlantic Spotted Dolphins as well as the Sapona Wreck! In Florida we will spend time with Goliath Grouper that aggregate on our beautiful ship wrecks, as well as up to 5 species of Sea Turtles that reside on our vibrantly colored reefs and wrecks! So there is no question why we labeled it..."Marinelife Overload"! DM me with your email address if your interested in receiving more information on either of these trips! New evidence just published in 2018 states that the Flamingo is native to Florida and not an invasive species as presumed. By scouring through historical records and museum collections, the evidence was clear. In fact during the 1800's, there were thousands of flamingos in south florida. These beautiful large pink birds were nearly extinct do to poachers and hunters mostly for the plume industry. Fortunately they were protected and they are most definitely starting to recover! Proof that nature will recover if we just stop the killings! Infact in 2014 a flock of 147 Flamingos were seen in the Everglades! Protection does work! I'm incredibly grateful to all of you that have recently helped me win the Goliath Grouper, Land Based Shark Fishing and the Blue Heron Bridge Campaigns! Without all your help I do not believe we would have been successful! THANK YOU SO MUCH! However the "End the government sanctioned Poisoning of our lakes, rivers and aquifers...our drinking water" campaign will have the biggest impact for saving our Wildlife as well as ourselves. I have very convincing evidence the shows it is the major cause of the Red Tide massive wildlife death the last 1.5 years! So please tag your friends, share this post or just the petition that can be found in the link in my bio! Image by @jim_abernethy // No matter where I am, underwater or topside, whenever I'm fortunate to find a baby animal, I'm extremely grateful to find such adorable baby creatures! They are all so cute and simply beautiful innocent creatures! What do you think of these baby grizzly bears and spent time with in Katmai National Park Alaska? Aren't they adorable? I've been so fortunate to see so many of the truly beautiful adorable creatures that it saddens me greatly to know that during my lifetime we have killed 62% of our planets wildlife! We must end the needless slaughter of our planet's creatures! Image by @jim_abernethy // in the cetaceans world, this species is known as the friendliest wild dolphins worldwide...The Atlantic Spotted Dolphins of the Bahamas! This image was shot during our amazingly calm and crystal clear waters of our Bahamian summers! To be able to interact with them on there terms in their world is humbling, amazing and definitely life changing! In fact I'm almost speechless trying to come up with words describing how it makes me feel! We still have space aboard if your interested in joining us this summer! Contact my office at the link in my bio for more info so you can join us soon. In Florida our wild dolphins and many other wildlife had massive death numbers that is most accurately described as "death of biblical proportions" as a result of Red Tide that was fueled heavily by phosphorus and nitrates! I believe the main cause was 4 decades of Government Sanctioned Poisoning of our Rivers, lakes and Aquifers with Glyphosate and other terrible chemicals that are killing everything! In 2017 the Aquatic Plant Management of FWC increased the active ingredient of glyphosate 250% and increased the number of gallons sprayed by 25% to nearly 1 million gallons! The hurricane churned up these chemicals that were accumulating in the mud as dead plants, forcing it through Lake Okeechobee to the east and west killing everything in its path! Glyphosate is a registered antibiotic that kills the immune system of all creatures, including humans! We must stop our government from killing everything! Please, please please help by going to the links in my bio! @jim_abernethy @wildlifevoiceinc @sealegacy #TurningTheTide #redtide #wilddolphins #savedolphins #saveoceans #paradise #beautiful #glyphosate #iloveflorida #protectwildlife #endglyphosate #cleanwater #stopthepoison #carcinogen #needlessslaughter #atlanticspotteddolphin ilovedolphins #wilddolphinencounters #conservation #gorgeous #Bethechangetheworldneeds (at The Bahamas) https://www.instagram.com/jim_abernethy/p/ByNHVxmpSeq/?igshid=ma4c6pnp8v0k

Image by @jim_abernethy // A mother Ring Necked Stilt hides her 3 newborn fledglings as best she can shortly after they leave the nest for the first time! All Wildlife and their behavior captivates me and dramatically improves the quality of my life substantially! I watched this family's parents build their nest, incubate their eggs until they hatched and finally teach their young how to survive! Today life is much much harder for all wildlife, because of a multitude of man made issues such as habitat loss, discarded plastic, herbicide and pesticides and water pollution just to name a few! I In fact in a recent study conducted by "The Cornell Lab of Ornithology" our planet has lost nearly 3 billion birds across all groups of birds in the US and Canada since 1970! This is totally man made and very hard to even contemplate! Here are 7 things you can do to help our beautiful feathered friends! 1. Make our windows safer by installing screens, film or paint to help the birds see the glass! Roughly 1 billion birds die yearly from flying into glass. 2. Keep cats indoors! Domestic cats kill 2.6 billion birds annually. 3. Rewild your yard, by reducing your lawn and planting native plants. 4. Avoid using pesticides and herbicides that are toxic to birds. 5. Only drink shade grown coffee! 75% of all coffee grown is sun grown which destroys forests that birds need. Shade grown coffee is environmentally friendly for all wildlife. 6. Refuse to use one time use plastics! 7. Enjoy our birds by getting outside in addition to using bird feeders for healthy foods at home. Count the species and numbers of them and report them to ebird to help monitor our feathered friends! Do you love birds? Does watching birding behavior excite you? We only protect what we love! I love birds and all wildlife! Please help me protect it. Image by @jim_abernethy // The American Alligator is one of the perfect examples of great conservation efforts. This species was hunted to the brink of extinction by the 1970's. In 1967 it was put on the endangered list. The huge demand for their skin and meat nearly wiped them out however huge conservation efforts actually reversed their collapse and the American Alligator is no longer on the endangered list! Cousteau said it best, "We only protect what we love! I love all wildlife, so thank YOU very much for all your help! My favorite Alligator in the wild, Fluffy! Join me in the everglades to see our beautiful wildlife for yourself. One of these creatures is a dirty disgusting vile animal that destroys its only home! The other one is a gorgeous sweet swine! We have a lot to learn from all wildlife as none of them produce trash, destroy their ecosystem or are the cause of our planets 6th extinction! 🚨CALL TO ACTION🚨 Video by: Jim Abernethy Over 800 gentile manatees like the ones viewed here DIED from the Red Tide here in Florida due to the high nutrient loading caused by decades of Government sanctioned aquatic plant management! We must end Glyphosate and other chemical use that are being sprayed right into our dring water...our aquifers! We must switch to mechanical harvest now! Yesterday a scientific report came out stating that if your exposed to glyphosate you have a 41% great chance of getting cancer! Everyong in Florida has been exposed to Glyphosate for decades! We spoke and the FWC listened! Help bring an end to the state sanctioned spraying of glyphosate in Florida's waterways once and for all! Glyphosate is the main chemical found in most chemical herbicides (weed killers). Its being sprayed in our fresh water systems, which in turn gets into our aquifers - the water we drink, bathe in, cook with, wash our clothes with... Glyphosate has been linked to certain cancers and health problems in humans, as well the death of NON-TARGET species, such as native aquatic plants, amphibians, fish and waterfowl, leaving large areas of our lakes and tributaries with oxygen deprived DEAD ZONES. Nutrient run-off has also been linked to exaserbated effects of red tide, which in 2018 set records, with the deaths of several HUNDREDS of manatees, turtles, dolphins, sharks, fish and sea birds. Florida has the most diverse range of flora and fauna in the United States and it's currently all at risk due to man-made causes. It's up to us to use our voices to protect our greatest natural resources! Let's keep this momentum going! WHAT YOU CAN DO: -Attend the next FWC meeting, Feb. 21 in Gainsville -Sign and share the petition, which can be found through the link in my bio -Email FWC with your thoughts on the use of Glyphosate at [email protected] @jim_abernethy @sea_legacy @wildlifevoiceinc #TurningTheTide #manatee #saveprotectedanimals #SaveFlorida #bluegreenalgae #endglyphosate #toxic18 #cleanwater #glyphosate #RedTide #toxic #conservation #manatee (at Manatee Lagoon) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bt8iLRIHDWe/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=h9sobyptpnuf

Recently I had the great pleasure of getting up close to the stunningly gorgeous wood ducks thanks to the guidance of @afloridawildman During my Red Tide investigation working the tributaries of Lake Okeechobee there were many Everglades birds as well as other creatures that I definitely wanted to spend more time with...but the wood ducks just seem to be so brilliantly colored that I put them high on my list. Our planet has so many amazing creatures big and small that unfortunately will not be here much longer unless we all work together to protect them! I believe the main cause of Red Tide is 4+ decades of government sanctioned herbicide spraying of our aquatic plants in our lakes, rivers and aquifers with glyphosate and other chemicals. 90% of our drinking water comes from our aquifers! Glyphosate is a registered antibiotic that is killing pollinators, amphibians, some waterfowl and affecting human health in extremely negative ways! Please please help me end the poisoning of Floridas Everglades by going to the link in my bio where some of my conservation campaigns can be found including this one! Be the change the world needs you to be! Image by @jim_abernethy // The beautiful white-necked jacobin hummingbird of Ecuador hovers in flight just long enough to capture this stunningly gorgeous vibrantly colored creature! Hummingbirds are incredibly interesting and captivating to watch and photograph! Nature definitely is the best art and it never ceases to amaze me! However my heart pounds heavily knowing what we are doing to all life on the planet! Sadly, we are killing most of our pollinators and amphibians at an incredible rate. Glyphosate, an herbicide and antibiotic which is the active ingredient in roundup targets enzymes long assumed to be only in plants, however they are also in all animal's gut biome. When pollinators come in contact with this chemical it wipes out the gut bacteria leaving our pollinators vulnerable to pathogens and premature death! Since glyphosate introduction in 1974 we have sprayed 9.4 million tons onto our planet! This is most likely the main reason we are loosing, amphibians pollinators and causing exponential growth of all chronic diseases in mankind! Please help me stop the nearly 1 million gallons per year of spraying in Florida by going to the link in my bio and signing and sharing the petition! Thanks so much to all that already have! Video by @jim_abernethy// CALL TO ACTION We need your help to shut down the Government sanctioned poisoning of our Aquifers...OUR DRINKING WATER! In 2017 the percentage of Glyphosate in Florida was increased by 250% in combination with 25% increase in gallons used, to nearly 1 million gallons. This increase combined with the 4 decades of phosphorus and nitrogen loading in the bottom of the lakes in the form of decomposed plants, essentially mud, from herbicide aquatic plant management, I believe was the cause of the Red Tide/blue green algae environmental disaster causing biblical proportions of wildlife death, coastal economy collapse and continued poisoning of human health. Glyphosate is an antibiotic and 4 decades of drinking it in our drinking water is causing exponential growth in diseases including cancer, autism, Parkinson's, and celiacs just to name a few! Please follow the link in my bio to help, as well as show up at the FWC meeting this February 21 at 8.30 AM, to help end this archaic method of aquatic plant management! I'll see you there! Please repost and share this post and sign the petition. You can also write to FWC about this using this email address [email protected] Beautiful Alligator in Lake Okeechobee recently!
