Kill Code
He/him, cis, demisexual. Red pupils with black sclera (pupils can dilate and thin depending on his mood).
9'3". Black paws (in his own body) and claws (retractable in Moon's body, partially retractable in his own). All sharp teeth, think of an angler fish-type mouth except all the teeth fit in his mouth and he can fully close it. Once he gets his own body, he ends up with a few scratches and scars, but they're mostly from hunts and rough-housing with Bloody.
Doesn't regress, acts as a primary caregiver for quite a few of the littles/regressors: Bloody, Eclipse, sometimes Solar, and (very rarely) Lunar.
His own body is based off of the one he used in the mindscape of Moon's mind in the show. When he takes control of Moon, Moon's eyes turn black with red pupils that can dilate and thin according to mood and lighting, his claws mostly stay elongated, and his teeth shift to be more sharp (no where near what they're like in his permanent body, but still).
He's able to hypnotize others, much like Moon can (though Moon doesn't use it hardly ever). Kill Code doesn't really use it much either. His spit holds both a toxin and a healing agent, just like the Blood Twins.
Currently in the story, he's still very much an avid 'people-eater', but he'll eventually come around to going more 'vegan' (eating more animal products instead).
"I have been around much longer than the two of you. I have been around as long as Moon has been alive. I am his baser code. I am the kill code. I am that which he fought to suppress."
"...I am a killer animatronic with ears and a heart buried beneath it all, no matter how deeply buried."
"I will care for you two now, if you'll let me. After all, we are one and the same."
"Sun is Moon's twin, this is true. But where Sun is his twin in light, I am his mirrored reflection. I am...for lack of a better term, the dark side of the moon."
Relationships:
Sun: Immediately hated Sun from the get-go because of what he did to Harvest. Yes, he later recognizes that Sun was acting out of fear and didn't have a lot of options, but that still doesn't mean that he forgave him. He'll eventually come around. Sun's scared of him and would rather just avoid him at all costs.
Moon: As upset as Moon was that he let himself lose control, he's more upset with himself than anything. He even believes at one point that maybe things would be better if Kill Code took control and he just...disappeared. Kill Code is trying to help Moon see his own worth, but he hasn't had any luck so far.
Harvest: They had their differences when they first met. Harvest saw him as the part of himself that he hated, the one thing that he didn't want to ever confront or put up with. But after a talk with Kill Code and a trip out to the woods, he's come around to him. No he won't call Kill Code "Dad", shut up.... Kill Code sees Harvest and Bloody as his sons. He's proud of how far Harvest has come and he's excited to see how much further he'll go. He's very patient with Harvest and won't try to push him to accept him as family. He just wants to see Harvest grow and help him learn to accept all parts of himself.
Bloody: It didn't take long for Bloody to come around to Kill Code. While Bloody seems too trusting and easy to sway, he's also a good judge of character. He defended Kill Code, even from his own twin, because he could tell that Kill Code really cared about him and Harvest. He absolutely considers Kill Code his father and will tell him as such! Kill Code is more than thrilled that Bloody accepts him as a father-figure and is excited to see what all he can teach him. He loves to entertain Bloody and is one of the few that can keep up with him when he as the 'zoomies' (Harvest is a close second). He's also very easy to sway to giving Bloody what he wants and has been known to give him extra 'meat snacks' when no one is looking.
Lunar: Lunar is terrified of Kill Code at first. He's not just the scary parts of Moon, he himself is scary! And he looks scary too! But eventually he comes around to the idea of Kill Code being around. He isn't sure if he considers Kill Code a dad, but he eventually considers him as some sort of relation. Maybe. He isn't sure. As scary as he looks, he's nice and surprisingly gentle when Lunar's small! Kill Code considers Lunar as a relation (after all, Eclipse made Lunar out of parts of Moon!). Son doesn't quite seem like the correct term, and grandchild doesn't quite fit either. Somewhere in between, perhaps. Either way, he won't push for Lunar to accept him as family. He only wants to be able to help. (Plus he's also weak to Lunar's puppy eyes and has been known to give him extra Skittles when Moon has already said no).
Solar: Wasn't quite sure how to feel about Kill Code at first. On the one hand, he was supposedly all the worst parts of Moon (who he already had a complicated relationship with). On the other, he could see how gentle and caring he was with the twins. And then the fact that he helped Solar realize that he didn't have to follow a set mold that anyone made. He could be his own person. He could write his own story.... Maybe Kill Code isn't so bad. Kill Code would adopt Solar in a heartbeat, if it weren't for the other's qualms and hesitancy towards him. Not just that, but the others seem to regard Solar as something similar to a cousin. Hm. Kill Code certainly still considers him family. He's so similar to his other child...
Eclipse: Kill Code brought Eclipse back in secret with the hopes that not only could he be redeemed, but also that he could potentially help with him and Moon's predicament. Not only that, Eclipse had never been given a true chance to change and improve. Eclipse deserved that much. He's shocked when Eclipse shows signs of age regression and seems to desperately cling to him, but he's glad to help and care for the other. He never really got a chance to be loved either, did he? Well, maybe by one other person... No, Eclipse doesn't like Kill Code. He hates him. He keeps waiting for the other shoe to drop and for Kill Code to ask him to do something for some sort of evil plan, only to abandon him after the fact. And why does Kill Code calling him 'son' make him feel strange? He doesn't like it. Ok, maybe he kind of likes it. Maybe. But not fully...
BONUS!
Poppy: In another world, in another realm, Poppy and Kill Code are sweethearts. If Kill Code is soft-hearted in the main universe, he's an absolute bowl of mush in the alternate reality. He loves his genderfluid partner and would do absolutely anything for them. The two regularly sit together and knit/crochet, sometimes cooking and baking for the household. The family has come to the consensus that Poppy and Kill Code are the eldest members of them all, and are treated like the grandparents (even though Eclipse, Harvest, and Bloody all still call him father/dad). Nicknames that Poppy and Kill Code swap are "honey, sweetheart, dear, dearheart, hon, love, lovely, etc"). They go for walks together and bird watch and forage, and Kill Code has been known to carry Poppy when their leg is giving them trouble. They're just very soft together and I love them very much :')

AITA if I don't want to move in with someone because I don't want to go vegan?
(Sorry if this is a mess, I've been having a hard time getting my thoughts together)
My partner (20nb) and I (21nb) just moved into a new apartment, which is $500 more a month than our last place. It's a nice enough spot, and this is actually quite cheap for the building, but cost of living is very expensive in my city. We haven't been able to settle very well into the place because the landlord seems pretty uptight and has lots of particular rules, and the landlords daughter lives with us.
Some close friends (26nb, 28nb) of ours have offered to let us move in with them, they're renting a house near us. They're both vegan, and the younger one, I'll call them Sam for simplicity (fake name), is pretty adamant that there's no animal product in the house. So if we moved in, my partner and I would have to go vegan, which my partner says they would be fine with. I absolutely respect that they don't want that in their kitchen, it's their house after all, but I feel like this would be an issue for me.
I'm autistic and with my EDS, ADHD, and bad work schedule, I really struggle to feed myself. I rely on a lot of little no-prep snacks and safe foods to ensure my blood sugar doesn't drop, but almost all of them aren't vegan. Sam loves to cook and has offered to make food for me to keep me fed, but they also have a full-time day job. I feel like this won't be feasible long-term, and I would hate to rely on someone so heavily.
My main concern is that we end up living with them for long enough, but then I build an intolerance to animal products, so when we move back out I'll be stuck not able to eat most things. (Also the sensory issues with food is a big concern, but when isn't it.)
The reason I feel like I could be TA is that money is tight. Collectively, my partner and I owe just under $7000. That would take me 4 months to make, if I spent literally $0 from now until then. My partner makes less than me. If we moved in with our friends, the rent would be weighted, and we'd pay less than half the rent we pay now since they both make significantly more than both of us, combined.
Am I being selfish and holding us back from saving a lot of money, just because I'm afraid to go vegan?
What are these acronyms?

Today I am at work and Adam is hanging out a Billy Corgan's studio.
I asked him to please check on the selection of vegan snacks and I bet you that he will not!
Also everyone knows Billy Corgan lives "near the temple by the lake" but everyone but adam knows that's the temple by the lake in highland park, not the one in glencoe. good thing he has me around to correct him 100% of the time.

sam mentioning john’s journal to mia in 13x04 got me thinking. it’s sort of odd that neither of the brothers started keeping their own hunting journal after john’s death.
on one hand, you have sam - the academic, the scholar, the archivist, the legacy. it’s practical to keep a record of things, especially once they started encountering phenomena not already touched upon by john, sigils and spells and lore he spent hours of research on. wouldn’t he want that all in one place? (i’m sure he had a very robust cataloging system once he’d settled into the MoL bunker, and probably kept a lot of things digitally prior to that, but you get what i mean)
and then there’s dean, who’s always leaned more towards the sentimental, especially when it comes to his dad, his family. journaling was part of the job for john, and you’re telling me dean wouldn’t pick up the practice in an attempt to carry on his father’s work? to feel close to his dad after he was gone? out of a sense of obligation, at least?
i can just picture the way it would start off impersonal, stilted. just dates, locations, bare bones, basic info about their hunts. he’d grumble about not knowing what else to say, feeling stupid talking to himself. but over time, he’d start adding little doodles in the margins. photographs. recipes. personal notes — bits and pieces of backstory for his LARP character that charlie helped him create. claire’s favorite snacks so he remembers what to add to the shopping list when she’s coming to visit. sam’s go-to order at that vegan place in omaha for when they’re coming home from jody’s. a list of movies to watch with cas, crossing them out as they go.
and maybe eventually he'd start writing about more personal things. it might start with the mark of cain, when he stops drinking and starts eating healthier and sleeping 8 hours a night. he turns to the journal as an outlet to process the things that are still too dangerous to say to anyone else. maybe he writes about his complicated feelings for amara. the gaping wound of his mother's absence and the painful guardedness that came with having her back. maybe he'd write about losing cas.
Drove west today until I found a nice field. Everything's flowering right now so it was real pretty. Spread Cas' ashes there, right near this old windmill. Don't really know why I chose that spot, but it felt right. I guess it just seemed like the kind of place he'd like. It was quiet there. Peaceful. It's not heaven, but hopefully it's close enough.
#if you don’t think that dean winchester would have the most arthur morgan ass journal you’re lying to yourself!!!!#i got carried away thinking about this#but now i’m thinking about the entire saga narrated through dean’s voice#UGH anyway the widower arc still has me feeling crazy that’s all#dean winchester#destiel#spn 13x04#spn rewatch

muse quirks - mileage across make & model may vary
a few things that remain standard to cloud strife on this blog at any point (unless discussed otherwise) -- all not necessarily canon or supported by canon, re: take us as we are
no olfactory sense - it was burned out with the involuntary long-term mako soak
vegan (no reason) & always has some type of snack on hand due to prior life issues with malnutrition. suffered through starvation when held captive in nibelheim, which continued while on the run with zack, & then a final time in mideel at mid-point og
enjoys mushrooms the most as a primary source of protein; nuts are next so if you're highly allergic you probably shouldn't come near him. black walnuts are best
85% tethered to reality (has dissociative spells)
sometimes hear/sees things that are not real (usually influenced by sephiroth/jenova, not schizophrenic)
easily angered, but quick to come off it

can probably help you not bleed out, but doesn't know much else about combat first aid
has 3 pet spiders (naturally occurring)
had never been to midgar prior to og events
met zack when he was a second (subject to zakkusu partners as this effects zack's timeline more than cloud's -- but cc doesn't give them much onscreen time together when they are both lucid tbh and they are bffs so u kno i'm right & square can't keep their stories straight so it's fine, we do what we want)
was not Always in a mako coma those 4 years, but doesn't remember anything of when he was awake. could be forced to remember, but you're playing with gas and a lit match in room with no exits at that point
was in love with zack and aerith while they were alive, but (for the sake of rp) never acted on those feelings (remains unrequited unless rp partner is ok with it, no matter who you're writing opposite to us) ((has NOTHING to do with shipping so help me god))
can and does have an effect on other individuals with j- or s-cells post og as cloud is at that point the primary living repository of them (exactly what kind of effects depends on you!) post-ac the foreign cells are rendered somewhat neutral in his system due to aery's rain

Hello, fellow writers. I am here to make your lives just a bit easier, by making your character's experience with near-critical blood loss have a little more personality!
(This is how I cope)
One thing they don't tell you about major blood loss? How it ruins everything. You will be nauseated, exhausted, and more than a little traumatized! There are three bags of snacks that are probably going stale on my desk because they are from before the hospital, so the very thought of them sickens me. I can no longer use the same deodorant, because the smell makes me want to die! The shows I watched during the worst of the symptoms now make me barf! Yay!
Iron pills all taste like blood! Every single one of them! I've never met an iron pill that didn't taste like blood! They all taste like iron! Which is what blood tastes like! Even if it's vegan it will taste like blood! Gummies too!
You won't just be kinda sleepy. You won't just be a little tired. Move more than 20 feet and your legs will want to give out, and you will hear nothing but blood rushing in your ears, and your vision will go black. You will try and walk up the stairs and fall down the minute you clear the last step. Everything will be hard. Everything.
It hurts. Your legs will hurt, your head will hurt, your pride will hurt. But mostly your head.
Recovery is so long. It might even be longer than recovery for the injury that caused the blood loss in the first place. Probably not, I'm a special case, but it might be.
If you have a uterus, be warned. Once a month you will feel it all over again. That blood loss is no joke, either.
And finally, IVs suck ass. That's it. I had a 20 minute panic attack in the hospital, not from learning I had almost died, not from being in the fucking hospital, from the thought of someone messing with my IV. They are horrible. The nurse eventually gave up and left the room until I calmed down, because her just being there with the new unit of blood freaked me out so bad. Now, your character will probably not be as terrified of needles as I am, but if they are? IVs are probably their worst nightmare.
Anyway, hope my trauma can help you! Don't ask questions about why I had a haemoglobin count of under 6, you dont want to know the answer! All other questions are allowed and encouraged! I know all sorts of shit now and can help with probably lots of inquiries you might have! Yippee!

Autumn/the girls' house
I can't believe there is what feels like an autumn chill in the air already today in mid to late August!
This time of year always makes me very nostalgic for visiting my friends in what we always affectionately called 'the girls' house' because it was a house that was consecutively rented by different configurations of three female friends for the first five or six years I lived in this city.
In retrospect, I don't know why we often went in the autumn. Maybe it was someone's birthday around then. Pretty much every year though I have memories of wrapping up in a big coat and normally it was just about scarf weather (especially the light millennial scarves) and walking the 30-40 minutes from where we lived over to the girls' house where we would stay for four or five hours, just chatting, cooking, maybe watching movies, sometimes making cupcakes or similar snacks, and just having a good time. Sometimes it would be after university we'd go, and then when I was older, after work. The girls were normally a funny mix as well, almost like the cast of a tv show - normally at least one and sometimes all three nerdy, at least one who loved to cook, and at least one who loved to go out to parties and socialise and generally be a social butterfly! It made for a great dynamic for parties and generally spending time together - they always had great stories of what each had been up to lately. As well as that I vividly remember the choices of refreshments they always had - a whole fridge full of different juices and milks (they were early vegan adopters) and in the cupboard, a selection of pre-flavoured teas and coffees that would impress your average cafe owner!
It's a place I remember fondly, even all these years on when all the girls from the girls' house are long gone to other cities and places in the world, and I think the house itself has been sold on and maybe redeveloped. The area around it is transformed, the business next to it is gone and a new one has sprung up, and even I no longer live anywhere near walking distance to it now.
I still might find myself walking that way for old time's sake though, when the weather gets a little colder.

Frank Famous Hot Dog: Your Next Favorite Bite
California – the land of sunshine, beaches, and...gourmet hot dogs? You bet! While California may be famous for its fresh produce and innovative cuisine, there's a growing trend taking hold: the rise of the gourmet hot dog. Forget the sad, soggy hot dog you used to get at the ballpark. Frank and Furter's, a rapidly growing hot dog restaurant chain, is putting a delicious and exciting spin on this classic American food.
Introducing Frank Famous Hot Dog: A Culinary Adventure in Every Bite
Frank and Furter's isn't your average hot dog stand. We're all about elevating the hot dog experience, transforming it from a simple snack into a culinary adventure. Our signature dish, the Frank Famous Hot Dog, is a testament to this philosophy.
What Makes the Frank Famous Hot Dog So Special?
Premium Ingredients, Peak Flavor: We say no to mystery meat! The Frank Famous Hot Dog starts with a premium all-natural Angus beef sausage, seasoned to perfection. We source our sausages from local butchers who are passionate about quality and flavor.
A Bun Fit for a King (or Queen) of Hot Dogs: The hot dog experience is about more than just the sausage. That's why the Frank Famous Hot Dog is nestled in a toasted brioche bun, slightly sweet and buttery, creating the perfect textural contrast to the savory sausage.
A Symphony of Toppings: Gone are the days of the ketchup-and-mustard monotony. The Frank Famous Hot Dog is adorned with a symphony of gourmet toppings that will tantalize your taste buds. We're talking caramelized onions for a touch of sweetness, tangy sauerkraut for a classic touch, and a dollop of our signature spicy sriracha mayo for a fiery kick.
Beyond the Frank Famous: A World of Delicious Options

ride to the end
Summary: The kids are taking a school trip out of state. They try to pass time on the early morning train.
based on @summerssixecho's prompt "Oh, no, I thought you meant the red vial." and @ave-aria's prompt "Post Reveal: Team Phantom plays Never Have I Ever with the A-Listers. Things get out of hand very quickly. (Bonus: can include Valerie)"
Ao3 Link
An early morning train ride in the middle of November—where it’s dark outside the window and you can only vaguely see the outlines for things thanks to streetlights dotted here and there when you pass over a bridge, near a street, or through a train stop—is pretty peaceful, all things considered.
The passengers are quiet, getting an extra few hours rest before they reach their stop and the trip can begin. Most passengers anyway.
Sam and Tucker sit across from you, a deck of cards on the table. Valerie sits next to you, taking the last empty seat at your booth and flipping through one of the books assigned for English. The people in the booth across from you sound awake too, but your eyes are drawn to the glass.
You want to talk about how you could only really see your surroundings if you allow your eyes to fall out of focus. How the more you try to pay attention—the more you try to squint—the less you could see the outdoors. How you could only see your reflection in the window, otherwise.
You want to talk about how nice the world is, out of focus. How looking out, but not looking too hard, would let you experience it in a way that seemed never ending. How the continuous visuals of vague outlines of trees, rivers, and changing landscapes could make you think there was no final stop. That you could stay on and ride until you were ready to leave it behind. Ready to take the next step on your journey, wherever that may be.
You want to, but you don’t want to sound weird.
So until you reach your stop—the real one that you are, in fact, headed towards—you huddle further into your thick sweater, tuck your hands deeper into your pocket, and listen to the rumbling chink cha-chink of the train running along the tracks beneath you.
The smell of hot food makes your stomach rumble. Your attention draws to the aisle. A woman offers boxes of breakfast made fresh in the kitchen car not long ago. You and your friends take some. The group across from you—the A-listers, surprisingly—take some too.
The woman leaves. Everyone starts to eat. There’s more than one person complaining about the choice of food and portions.
“Shoulda had more meat,” Tucker mumbles, digging into the sausages.
“Should’ve had a vegan option,” Sam says, peeling open a package of apple slices.
“Or display all the food as a buffet,” Paulina says quietly, stifling a yawn as she pokes at her meal. “It would literally solve everything.”
Everyone else mumbles some kind of agreement. You and Tucker both hand Sam your fruit cups and hash browns. Valerie does the same.
“‘M not gonna finish all this. And I really hate how these taste.” Sam used her fork to nudge away the fruit cups.
“Trade?” Kwan asked, holding a bag of baby carrots. At you and your friends’ staring, he shrugs. “Mom always makes me bring a healthy snack.”
Sam agrees. And like they were all waiting for permission, each of them starts to toss food back and forth, you included. You are one of the first to stop. They continue on. You start on your meal. While you chew, you try to look at the others the way you did the passing scenery, but it doesn’t work as well. The outside world was nicer, out of focus, but the inside world had its charm in the details.
Valerie’s scattered papers on the table, each with her name messily written at the top. Tucker’s PDA and stylus, speckled with bits of scrambled eggs despite how careful he tries to be. Sam’s palms, smudged with what was almost certainly soil from her garden. Each one of the A-listers’ tired faces. The different bedheads they all—minus Paulina—are sporting. You drink it all in. You find comfort in it. Your friends are relaxed and the trip out of state would mean they would stay that way for the rest of the week, no worry of ghosts coming to interrupt them. And you find comfort in the details of the others, too. That despite how high and mighty they like to seem, despite how carefully they craft their images, they are human. Just like you.
Long after your plate was clean, you continued to enjoy it. And it was all well and good until everyone else had finished their breakfasts and you all were left with a pile of fruit cups that no one wanted to eat.
The thought of wasting food doesn’t sit right with Sam and Kwan, and after seeing—and starting—one too many food fights, Dash is certain Lancer would yell at them for it. None of them wanted to deal with that and neither did you; it wouldn’t be a good way to start the trip.
So, they plot.
Dash suggests pelting some of the other students with them, so they get caught with the food instead of us. Tucker says he just wants to hit unsuspecting nerds with it and he doesn’t deny it.
Kwan, with Sam’s approval, suggests putting them away in their bags to take home with them or eventually give them to someone who does want to eat it. Valerie rejects it and says something about not wanting her homework to get all sticky.
Star asks why they can’t just return the fruit cups to the kitchen car, since they’re still sealed. Paulina says it would be rude to just return the food, and besides she’s got a better idea.
You watch quietly as Paulina passes out one fruit cup to everyone. She sticks her straw through the lid of her own. “Never Have I Ever. Instead of taking a shot, you drink a sip of the juice in the cup.”
You feel a hint of disgust just thinking about it. The others look to feel the same. “I’m in,” you say.
The A-listers, either emboldened by your choice or bored out of their minds, are soon to agree. Tucker shrugs and agrees as well. Valerie, when prompted, gives her own distracted agreement, nose buried back between the pages of Lord of the Flies.
Sam groans. “I’m really gonna hate this.” She agrees anyway.
The minutes tick by. You become a little more awake while playing the game, laughing at specific scenarios meant to target friends. You try to do the same with Tucker and get more than a little offended when he turns the tables on you.
“Never Have I Ever been turned into a half-ghost!” he whisper-shouts.
You grumble and try to take a sip, but you’re sucking on air. You smirk. “It’s a shame, but I’m out.” You hold up your cup and shake it a little. Tucker squints at it. “Guess, we’ll have to end it there.”
“Nuh uh, not how it works, Fenton,” Dash says. “You gotta drink first. Anyone got some fruit juice left?”
There was a chorus of “no”s and with the light from the sun quickly peeking up over the horizon, you’re sure you’re gonna be home free. Dash tries shaking everyone’s cups just in case and you turn back to the window, wanting to savour the scenery again, now that it is easier to see. You miss the near pitch black of the early morning, but this—this was good too.
Dash makes a sound of triumph. Valerie makes a sound of protest. In his hands is a clear plastic bag with two vials.
Valerie doesn’t want to lose her energy drink experiments to a dumb game. Dash says she can make more later, but that you need to drink one now to “preserve the sanctity of Never Have I Ever”.
You didn’t even know Dash knew what the word “sanctity” meant. Honestly, you think he still might not.
Valerie sighs. Rubs the bridge of her nose. “Fine, just give him the skinny vial.”
Dash hands you a vial. You’re hesitant to pop the cork.
“Aww don’t be a wuss. Where’s all that courage you have as Phantom, when you’re beating up ghosts twice your size?” You think he makes a good point, sort of. You still don’t want to drink it. “Just slam it back quick and you won’t even taste it.”
“Isn’t tasting it the whole point?” Star mumbles.
“You don’t… have to.” You look at Sam. She looks worried. “We won’t think less of you or anything.”
“Speak for yourself,” Tucker said. He raised a fist in the air. “Slam it home, Danny!”
“Slam it home, Fenton!” Dash and Kwan say.
And. Well. You can’t just not drink it now.
So, you pull off the cork, ignore the upsetting smell, and chug it in one go. Dash, Kwan, and Tucker cheer you on.
It tastes. Bad. Worse than your mom’s ectowieners. You didn’t think that was possible.
It burns. Going down. A pain that spreads through your mouth, your throat, and—and your stomach. Ancients, your stomach.
You don’t notice much else other than the acid-like burning. You clutch at your stomach. Someone shakes your shoulder. You can’t quite hear what they say to you. It comes out distorted and practically inaudible.
Somehow, this was worse than being surrounded by blood blossoms during your trip through time. You didn’t think that was possible.
Your vision starts to fall out of focus. You start to feel slower, too. One moment, you’re slumped on the table. The next, you’re laying sideways on the bench and someone’s hand is pressed against your forehead.
“You gave him the blue vial, right?” Valerie’s fuzzy voice says above him.
Everything looks fuzzy.
Dash answers, “Oh, no, I thought you meant the red vial.”
You think you don’t like the world losing focus like this.

Okay been thinking about what's going on with Snack Squad in a sort of modern AU and I think I've got some things figured out. They live near (or in) a big NYC-style city where most of them work, although Zenith's work is the most distant from their house.
Winter: architecture professor
Bee: tech support
Indigo: art gallery secretary
Jewel: part-time rehab nurse
Nebula: accountant
Zenith: Forest Service pilot
Sunny: tattoo, digital, and traditional artist
Star: social media manager
Winter, Bee, Sunny, and Nebula share a six-bedroom house on the edge of the city that they got for cheap since it was in an absolutely ruined state. Winter had his heart set on it from the very moment he saw it. It took them almost a decade to finish fixing it up and plant a massive garden in the back with a few mature fruit trees. One of the spare bedrooms is kept for Zenith, and the other is used as a shared office since Bee and Nebula both partially work from home.
When Winter fosters the twins, Zenith's things are cleared out to move in two smaller beds for them. Zenith doesn't mind being moved out at all, especially when they end up replacing the backyard shed with a standalone studio that ey gets the key to. Ey jokes it's better that way because then ey doesn't have to listen to them being loud at each other. Over the next two years, they build a sunroom/office for Bee and Nebula, so the twins can later each have their own room.
Eventually Star moves in with them, when things get serious with him and Winter. He can work from home easily, and he loves the sense of community and belonging that the house has.
Jewel and Indigo share a loft in the downtown arts district, in walking distance of Indigo's workplace. They also share a bed platonically so the second bedroom is for Zenith. He prefers their place because it's much more conveniently located and also he worries about them being lonely since they live away from the others, even though they spend every other weekend at the family house.
Winter is highkey everyone's sugar daddy because he makes six digits and shares generously. You can't mention something you want around him without him finding a way to get it for you.
Bee is everyone's default "please help me figure out what happened to my wifi" guy and he allows it because Sunny always makes gingerbread snaps to thank him.
Indigo gets the entire squad into art museums for free. He's also connected to other artsy types and is always inviting the team along to indie film festivals, temporary museum exhibits, and other things they never knew existed until he brought them along.
Jewel uses the others' connections to help find hobbies and jobs for the veterans zhi works with, and brings home all sorts of gifts and freebies as a result. They've gotten quite an eclectic collection of gifts.
Nebula helps them with their taxes and gives Indigo's gallery a reduced rate on services as long as they showcase Sunny's work in the front room of their gallery.
Zenith hands out national park passes to everyone, whether they ask or not. Ey also flies Jewel and Indigo out on weekend trips when one of them gets an itch to visit somewhere, and helps arrange flights for all of their vacations.
Sunny makes dinners for everyone when they hit a busy patch. Xe's a great cook and baker, and it helps xer relax on the off chance that work is being stressful. Xe also makes vegan gluten-free chocolate chip cookies for Jewel to take to work.
