I NEED yandere content of my lil dumbass Rhysie boy.

I got this idea of the reader kind of being dragged along by Rhys kind of like a babysitter because some random hyperion guy (or maybe Vasquez) just doesn't believe you could survive on Pandora, and surprise surprise Rhys and his accountant buddy Vaughn are also heading to Pandora! (Definitely not to get a vault key that isn't even real-)

Roughly based off of Rhys and Vaughn's personality in TFTB.

I quite like that Idea, especially since it can be used for many differing personalities.

So Ass-Quez doesn't like you, and sends you down to Pandora, but good thing you heard Rhys, Vaughn, and Yvette talking about their plan to get the vault key.

It's quite easy to sneak into their car that they stole from Vasquez, seeing as Vaughn and Rhys were arguing about who should carry the money. [Rhys was the only person out of the two who could drive moderately well, and well, it was at least ten minutes between the two arguing that you were sitting there in the backseat, laying on the floor.]

But only after they take off on Pandora, do you reveal yourself. Rhys and Vaughn screaming and looking at you, leading Rhys to run over the very animal he originally ran over.

Okay, a little bit of skipping because I don't want to recite the entirety of the game with minute differences, so I'll say the major plots that change.

Ep 1:

The bandits don't mess with you, [they have learned their lesson from a differing explosive teen], and instead refuse to try to hit you [except for the occasional bandit].

Shade is very nice and quite likes you, so he's actually going to help you first and then the others,

Sasha and August are way less willing to help out Rhys in the beginning of their meeting, seeing as they brought a child [or rather, a teen but I digress] TO PANDORA, the scary bad no good place.

Fiona has a way worse opinion of Rhys.

Skipping all the way to Ep: 4.

Now, all this time, Jack has been bugging Rhys, and I mean, we all Jack is mentally insane, and so having that type of personality nag you about a child, well, it leads to Rhys being more protective by nature, not trusting Jack.

However, the deal Jack give him: Upload me, and protect that child you adore so much, or don't.

But as you help Sasha and Fiona get that key-card, there's a new announcement on the Holo-screens.

Jack announcing that Rhys wants you in the office.

12. What's the funniest or craziest AU idea you've ever come up with?

I have in total, three AUs I have to finally write anything for fhasfsa (I do plan on posting Tales AU first chapter this week tho!!). 1) RHYS AI AU is something you saw me post snippets of - in general, it's an alternative version of Borderlands 2, where Jack kills Lilith and Roland very quickly and survives. Due to mourning for Nisha, Wilhelm and Angel, he one day writes code for a companion based on an imaginary friend he had but also, gives him some trait of each one of those he misses. While Rhys was going to slowly become the silly personality we know and love, this was my typical 'give the character therapy when they don't want it, and end up with them hurting someone else and trying to change'. 2) JUST WING IT AU is my Tales AU that starts with changes in ep 5, with how Rhys handles the news about Jack wanting to get that exoskeleton in him and focusing on exploring Jack's loneliness and adding him as the third character, making sort of second season for the game. The additional driving point would be that Loader Bot would be able to grab Gortys and run off with her, so the search for Vault would become longer Yet the AU I really hope to start exploring in the future, is this one: 3) Loss of what once happened but never before AU. It's a Borderlands 3 Rhack au that would focus on Rhys finding out he is a siren with huge time-travelling powers and the costs that come with it. He would turn back in time, when Jack was still known as John during the nights, and watch some of the consequences happen in the present during the day. He doesn't know though just how strong the butterfly effect will be...

22. Give us headcanons for Rhys

He actually likes fashion and likes casual official style in general.

He has a sweet tooth but pretends to like spicy food in college.

He actually had a heterochromia before the echo eye and decided to keep it.

He admired Jack a bit but he laughed at psycho fans, as he has some critical thinking.

Even a few years after getting Atlas running again, he still tries to make some guns himself, even if he doesn't have as much time.

He was the one dumped by his ex girlfriend even if he didn't like their dynamic because he was actually scared nobody else would be into him.

He spends a lot of time in the morning preparing his hair. It's quite wavy which gets visible in wetter climates but fortunately for him, he lives mostly in dry ones.

He met Katagawa and at first, couldn't believe he had a fan even if he had some boosted ego but felt something off about him. He turned off an invitation to Zanara because he still thinks about his talk with Vaughn about being good at faking cool. That's why he is even more awkward in future games, since while chasing the younger years, he wants to show he matured, hoping that maybe that will bring Sasha back. That's also why he got the moustache - to show he is becoming more serious. Which fails miserably.

He seemed the most confident in his new Atlas CEO stage because he had to look like it. There was nobody else to help him at the time, so he tried his best to do what he had done - acted the plan out.

He still imagines his plans the same way he did in Tales - with fantasies.

Jack knows he’s about to die again, and the inability to do anything about it strikes a fear into his soul that can only be surpassed by what he felt as he watched Angel die.

“Rhys, don’t.

“Please.

“Rhys, please-”

If he’d have been human, there certainly would have been tears brimming his eyes.

And yet, he isn’t.

Still, he’s Handsome Fucking Jack and he’s never been one to go down without a fight. As he watches the shrapnel dig into the port, he jolts upwards and guns it towards the lowly former manager as if he’s capable of wrapping his hands against the metal and jerking it from his grip.

“Rhys, don’t you fucking d-”

Groaning, Jack’s eyes open again.

Except, it doesn’t feel right. It doesn’t feel like it did when he was living in Rhys’ head, and he doesn’t quite feel alive. It’s foreign and, albeit, a little bit frightening.

Jack didn’t have a plan for the conversion to fail. He didn’t come up with a plan B. And yet, he’s here. Not quite breathing, but he’s alive. While he’s thrilled he’s not sitting in the black abyss of the afterlife, he’s not exactly prepared to find out who kept him around and why?

He swears, if it’s that fucking Maliwan bitch trying to get his sales tactics-

Never let anyone say that Rhys isn't a man of his word. Even when he'd been in Hyperion, his deals may have been shady, but ultimately they'd been deals he carried to the end.

With the gorgeous, purple light of the Vault of the Traveller around him, the blue of Jack's projection looks a different colour entirely. Despite how long it'd been, he looks exactly like Rhys remembers: comically taller than him, kind of manic, kind of scared. And it makes him wonder if time's passed for Jack at all, if that's something an artificial intelligence that advanced can experience-- because he looks just like he did in the wreckage of Helios when he'd begged on his knees for his life.

Then again, maybe that has something to do with the fact Jack had spawned out of the projector on his knees, too.

So, just like he did all those years ago, Rhys kneels as well to meet Jack's eye. "...hey, Jack."

Off in the distance, the rest of the crew is looking over the treasure haul with cheerful chatter. Sasha has an armful of guns, Fiona is trying to convince her to make multiple trips instead of one big one, and Gortys and Loader Bot are scavenging through gear to help Vaughn. Rhys had excused himself minutes earlier, but they'd stopped watching over him as soon as he was far enough away.

He's been busy over the years working on new Atlas tech: going through their blueprints, reviving them, making his own, forging, building, programming. The facility he'd taken to using was full of shit, certainly, but keeping himself preoccupied helped stave off the conflicting emotions from their whole adventure pretty damn well. If the price of being able to sleep at night was being a workaholic, then Rhys would take it.

At the moment, Jack's being projected from a device made out of scraps leftover from Rhys' most recent attempt at making a sniper rifle. He's not connected to any networks, not really capable of doing anything except processing his own program and moving within the limits of the device's ability to project, but he's activated just like Rhys promised.

I'll bring you back when I'm better. He isn't really, but it can't get much better than opening a fucking Vault, can it?

"Welcome back." Rhys rubs the side of his neck, palm over his tattoo. "Uh... kinda."
