Master Tethras is our light!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gosh, Varric is the best, the top of the pops of all the Dragon Age games, hands down. ( And I say this as a person who loves all the characters!)
This evening, I worked on this other small project ( aka another present for a friend ) 😁 I have yet to decide if I like these lights mmmm 🤔
I'll have to try more options...

purple hawke who, at malcolm's death, lost not only a father, a mentor, the single most stable and safe point in their world up until this moment. but also the only person in their life who would consistently, gleefully 'yes, and — ' them. the loss, in one fell swoop, of both a beloved parent and your sole willing — no, not only willing, enthusiastic — improv partner. truly, the most unkindest cut of all that the maker could have seen fit to deal. (there's always so much less laughter in the house, after malcolm's gone.)
and then after all the horrors of the blight and trying to make a new life in the shithole turned shithome of kirkwall....... they meet varric. and something that's been slumbering deep within their soul dries a tear of relief and joy and whispers 'oh we are so back'. and they are so right

There's a post going around saying that the Veilgaurd team is so nice to eachother because it's a story about professionals. I need the author locked in a room with Vivienne, Cassandra, Leliana, and Josephine so they can look them in the eye and say they're not professionals to their faces. For science.

Is it just me or is there way less fanart being made for this game than the previous ones? Kind of makes me sad, I remember with dai I could check the tags every few hours and find something new weeks after launch, now I only can get away with only looking a few times and week and miss nothing.
I don't think that's Veilguard exclusive.
Things I and my mutuals draw now are getting less notes/reblogs than they did even one year ago, regardless of the fandom. Fanfiction is getting less comments and kudos on ao3 too (not that they were getting many comments in the first place) Less gifs are being made because gif makers weren't getting reblogs. Hell, most of the post I make have a huge discrepancy between likes and reblogs and add polls into that? A thousand people voted on something and only a dozen people reblog it. It's a hollowing feeling when you realise you're calling out to an empty void, I don't blame people for creating less art because of that.
I don't see a vast majority of the people who follow me in my notes because I have likes disabled. Multiple times someone has sent me an ask apologizing for spamming me with likes and I don't understand it? That is not a bad thing And unless you reblogged anything along the way, I didn't even realise you were doing it in the first place. And the people whose notes I do see are not annoying in the slightest, I love the tags you add and I'm sure the original poster does even more so
I'm not trying to shame anyone Into interacting with the fandom spaces they're in but the whole point of Tumblr and what makes it a blogging platform and not social media is that this is a show and tell website. You're supposed to look at something you think is cool and then wave it around for your followers to see and then they pick it up and do the same regardless of how old it is
When you reblog an ask game from someone it used to be common courtesy to send that person one of the asks from it. Folks used to leave comments analysing paragraphs from stories people wrote and theorising about what would happen next on every chapter. We used to send each other asks just asking about our ocs unprompted
If there's no interaction or community when you create something, then what's the point of creating it? It sucks that fandom is morphing into something to be consumed and thrown away the second it's more than a week old unless you're one of a handful of blogs that got lucky and picked up traction at just the right moment
I'm sorry for the rant but I get emotional when I think about the decay of fandom spaces for too long. And this goes without saying, but you guys can reblog anything on my dash if the button isn't disabled on it

I think the reason why it's Varric talking to Solas is because of this:
There are worldstates in which the Inquisitor ONLY recruited the 3 companions that you are FORCED to have from the beginning: Solas, Varric and Cassandra. So in those worldstates, where the Inquisitor didn't make ANY other friends, the only people that you can say are Solas' friends are Varric and Cassandra. Those are his two canonical friends that we know that he always has in every world. And out of those two characters, I don't think that Cassandra would have the gentle approach that would highlight Solas' reasonableness.
We actually already saw Solas talking to an Inquisition acquaintance (Charter) in Tevinter Nights, with the same kind of relationship that he has with Harding, a more professional one. I don't think that kind of relationship would help here.
So, by process of elimination, and because I think they're setting Varric up for a storyline, that leaves Varric. And I think it works well, with all these limitations.
Why not the Inquisitor? I would have jumped for joy at that, and it's exactly why the game would have worked if the Inquisitor was still the main character. But I don't think the Inquisitor works this early if we're supposed to be following Rook, it might have been confusing and distracting. I think that the Inquisitor will have a chance to talk to him later. And besides, we already GOT a scene of the Inquisitor trying to talk Solas down. That was Trespasser. So, though I would have loved for Solas to talk to the Inquisitor, we really have already experienced that. So, given all of that, I think that Varric is a nice choice to talk to him, and it's actually interesting for Varric too, given Varric's history with friends at the edge of desperation.
Like, not to say you have to feel any sort of way about it, or like it, or whatever, I just can see a lot of constraints to this, and I think it was handled pretty well
**Edited to add - oh wait, iirc I think that Dorian and cole are also companions that you have to at least meet, if not keep? if I'm remembering right? But the points still stand, it could have been Dorian but I think they're setting Varric up for something

very funny for rye 'the moment I make one (1) mistake I will be dropped like a hot potato by anything I care about and it'll be completely my own fault' ingellvar to have two of his very closest people in adult life be varric tethras and lucanis dellamorte. two people whose most uniting 🤝 quality is 'I have never willingly let go of a single thing in my whole entire life even when that would have made everything so much easier. and I certainly don't mean to start now'. get cherished beyond reason or sanity or even the veil of death idiot one day it's going to sink in I'm sure

Companion!Cullen Fake Banter pt2
Cullen: Tell me, Solas, how have you managed to avoid detection from the Order for so long? I would have thought someone would have reported you by now.
Solas: Ha, is that what you believe? That the people have shallower inclinations such as yours?
Cullen: Shallower? I am only repeating the fears people rightly have towards apostates.
Solas: You may not be as aware of the people as you think, ex Knight Captain. As much as the people may be afraid of magic, many are more sensible and are aware of the benefits it brings. The down trotted are less inclined to rid themselves of an apostate who has helped them more than the Chantry can. Why chain a healer when the Chantry has not provided not even a bottle of poultice?
Cullen: I do not disagree with that.
------
Cullen: Sera, where did you put my- *cough* tonics
Sera: *cackling* Oh, you mean the smelly whatchamacallits that you dump on the noggin?
Cullen: *sighs* Just give them back.
Sera: Oh, I'll give them back.
Cullen: Without tampering them.
Sera: *cackling*
Cullen: *grumbles* Oh, forget it
-------
Bull: So what with you and the boss? Is it a kind of ritual or something you Fereldans do?
Cullen: What do you- isn't she from the Free Marches?
Bull: Eh, same difference to me. So what is it? You both like getting all uptight and angry before you get down and dirty?
Cullen: ANDRASTE PRESERVE ME!
Medea: Creator's, BULL!!
Bull: Oh, so that's a no. Well, if you need some rope or some binding, I got these-
Cullen: Another word, and I will ram this sword through your other eye, Maker willing.
-------
Cullen: Maker, I expected the apostates to run amok after the explosion, but this? Rogue templars? What has the Order become?
Varric: Hate to break it to you, Curly, but it's always been like this.
Cullen: You can be serious. Even before the Blight, the Fereldan Order maintained its utmost dignity.
Varric: Then tell me this, why did you think Uldred turned that Circle upside down? He didn't wake up one day thinking 'hey let's play around with blood magic' If there's one thing I know, people act at their last when cornered. When people are afraid, they will do whatever means to rid of themselves of that fear. You of all people should know that.
Cullen: What's that supposed to mean?
Varric: You know what I mean, Cullen.
