I am almost at the end of the Head Hunter Arc and there are a hundred story threads all running parallel so I would def have to re-read once again to fit in the sequence of events. Anyway, I will make a longer post about all my thoughts later,, but now I really really wanna get this off my chest.

Reim died—and I did not feel a single thing. In fact, I am more frustrated he died just like that than his oh-dear-poor-guy plight being shown to me. Am I supposed to feel sorry for him? I just can’t.

He is the worst kind of character—the ones who always want to maintain the status quo, the ones who think they can get away with anything because they are on the side of self-proclaimed ‘Good’, and whatever they do is ‘needed for the greater good’.

This guy single handedly, with one bullet, ruined whatever positive interactions might have occurred between the Baskervilles and the heroes (Break at least? Because Vincent, who is already working with the Baskervilles, is on... idk what side?)

I still maintain the Baskervilles were pulled into some major political conspiracy and they were forced to kill all those people in Sablier in order to ‘save’ them from getting turned into chains.

[The more the author shows me their flashbacks and how happy they were as a family—

look at them, they are the literal essence of found family ;-;—

shedding happy tears rn ;-; Fang, Doug and Lottie were best Dads/Big bro/Mom/Big Sis to Lily.

See, Break and Lottie were making baby steps towards coming to work together for a common cause. On their next meeting, when Break put his sword to Lottie’s throat, she, whether fearing his power and deciding to buy time or what, did make an attempt to understand him rather than trying to jump in for a fight at once.

And then, when the ‘false’ Baskervilles came onto the scene, they were forced to make an unwilling alliance to defeat them albeit for a moment.

I had hoped—one more meeting and then maybe, hopefully, at least, these two would put aside their differences and misunderstandings and start working together to exchange information and unravel all the mystery of the Tragedy; in the process, the heroes start to slowly realize the true nature of the Baskervilles.

But no. Reim just had to ruin everything. He heard Lily’s story, came to the realization that Baskervilles weren’t monsters but ‘laughed just like us’, and decided... ok this child is innocent but she will definitely kill many more people in the future so let me shoot her right through her head now and finish her off.

I had been reading with a smile on my face because their interactions were so cute, the way she tried to console him and relate to him, the way she squealed on seeing the March Hare (March Hare really is cute btw)—and then, bam! I was more shocked when he ‘killed’ her than when Fang announced Reim was dead.

I can’t put this in a better way either so here we go—Reim is an idiot. 

Here is a child that spills out everything unprompted if you simply humor her for a bit. She is a literal goldmine of information about the elusive Baskervilles. All you have to do is pretend-play with her that you are her ‘friend’ and she will tell you all tidbits from her life. All ‘truths’ because she has no reason to lie to a friend. “Family is good of course, but friends are good too.” She trusts her family, she trusts her friends. 

Instead, what Reim does is go for the kill.

Without even understanding the basic nature of Baskervilles. 

He didn’t know or even bother to find out Baskervilles could heal before playing his trump card. 

Is he not Rufus Barma’s apprentice? Did he not learn a thing from the tenacious information broker, who deals with even life-and-death matters using information?

Has he never heard of the saying—half knowledge is a dangerous thing? Does he not know of buying time? Never heard of humoring someone? If she wants to see your chain, show her that, play with her till you manage to pass information to your friends and then when Break or someone strong enough to handle her hellhound arrives on scene, capture her alive, gdi! (I remember that scene from Dark Era when Dazai got frustrated that Akutagawa killed off half a dozen hopeful sources of information. Now, I understand his frustration.) 

In fact, he did not even wait to hear her full story, asked a question or two, came to the conclusion that they are gonna reenact the Tragedy of Sablier—(after listening to a gullible child, btw. She is ofc gonna listen to her elders. If they say yes, then yes; if they say no, then no. How in the world do you make such a major decision after listening to the words of a child? And once again, I am not so sure if the Baskervilles indeed enacted the First Tragedy of Sablier in the first place. He is jumping to conclusions there too.)

—and shoots her through her head. Whether she died or not doesn’t matter here. She survived because of her super healing power. What matters here is that yes, Reim did have full killing intention when he shot her. Had she been a normal human, she’d have died. It was her brains that he intended to blow out. No way she was gonna survive that if she were a human. 

He is the one that betrayed her budding trust. Sorry but I have no sympathy for him. If she used her chain to rip his throat, that’s on him. He shot the first bullet. Whatever she does afterwards counts as self-defense for me.

Well, here comes another idiot, Break, who doesn’t know any of this. Without even finding out what transpired there, he directly jumped in to fight against two self-healing Baskervilles all by himself, spitting blood, lost eyesight, can’t-last-too-long-in-a-battle and all as he is, in order to ‘avenge’ his friend.

Lottie, please come and talk all of this out—is what I wanted to say, because she seems the only one with brain cells among this bunch of idiots. 

see, I can even draw up the parallels between the Break-Lottie 'friendship' and Reim-Lily 'friendship'. 

When Break offered her to be his ‘friend’ (Break being a way more powerful opponent compared to Lottie, she was completely overpowered and at his mercy), she got through alright. Even on their second meeting when Break wanted to ‘shred her to pieces’ for killing Reim (which she probs has no idea of. It’s Lily who found him.), she managed to buy time if only with the appearance of the ‘fake’ Baskervilles and later escape.

Whereas when Lily, a child with a bit stronger chain than Reim’s (or so he says, for idk what his chain does) asked Reim to be her ‘friend’, he goes for the kill. oh no, poor guy doesn’t know how to buy time with a talkative, gullible child who has long given up on wanting to kill him and wanted to simply chat with him *sigh*

Same situation, different brains, different outcomes.

But because of that one stupid brain, all is gone to waste. No way an alliance between Break and the Baskervilles is gonna take place after this. I mean, I don't know if he meant it when he said this--

what are the many things he wanted to tell her please i wanna know i am dying for more interactions between them please

But it is too late now. It has turned into a kill-or-be-killed situation. 

As of the present, it is Break vs Fang and Lily; and istg if something happens to any one of them, I will personally kill Reim. all over, once again. painfully.

I love all the three and I can’t see even one of them die over an idiot who caused his own death because he is an idiot.

Leo stands in Elliot's massive bedroom, phone held tightly in hand as he stands oh so still, lips pressed together between teeth. Coordinates sent, all he can do is anxiously wait now. Inside his head, those whispers have raised to a discordant roar, like angry waves crashing in a torrential sea of conflicting emotions. "brick wall," the valet mumbles to himself, hands tightening around the device in hand.

Just then, he's startled by the arrival of his visitor.

Leo gasps a quiet "ah!" as the angel appears just centimeters in front of him, the two bumping awkwardly. Maybe Leo shouldn't have stood exactly in the coordinates he'd given.

Mads is polite though, as the two awkwardly apologize to each other and Leo takes a few steps back. His heart pounds inside his chest, his eyes wide behind his glasses.

This is real.

His friend really just materialized out of thin air, right here in Elliot's bedroom, as if by magic, offering out a single vanilla cupcake. Leo takes the treat on autopilot, only to hold it awkwardly as he thanks the angel.

Thankfully, Mads seems to have no problem leading the conversation between them, as Leo stays mostly quiet. Mads offers a pinky promise that things will be okay, which Leo accepts with a small, though nervous, smile.

His head is so loud.

He shifts, resisting the urge to scream at those ghosts, gritting his teeth slightly as he turns away to place the cupcake on Elliot's desk.

This is a bad idea, one of those voices barks clearly, despite all of Leo's efforts not to hear. Do you have any idea what might happen if you leave?!

Leo takes a deep breath and turns back to the angel.

"I'm ready," he assures his visitor. Mads nods and holds out a hand, which Leo hesitantly takes. He presses a button on his watch, and just like that, Leo disappears from the Narrative.

"Disappears from the Narrative?!" the Narrator roars, slamming his hand on his desk so hard the book before him seems to jump. "What the hell!!"

His assistant glances over with a raised eyebrow. "Oh?" He watches as his master slams shut the heavy book before him and pries it open again, flipping through the pages for an update.

Across the estate, Elliot sits at an ornate desk beside his sister, head rested on one fist as she discusses boring things like operational costs and property taxes and values for one of the Nightray family's many assets. A sudden wave of nausea washes over him, making the young nobleman shift uncomfortably, free hand raising to rub his chest as his expression sours.

Vanessa stops mid sentence, noticing her little brother's sudden discomfort. "Am I boring you, Elly?"

Elliot rolls his eyes, straightens his posture, and leans back in his seat. "Just my stomach, I'm fine," he grumbles. "I think I'm hungry again."

Vanessa looks at her watch. "It is about time for afternoon tea. We can wrap it up here, if you'd like to go see Mom."

"You should join us today," Elliot offers.

"Sure, let me just take care of a few things. I'll let the maids know and join you in her chambers."

Elliot stands, ignoring the lightheaded feeling that accompanies the motion. "See you in a few." As he leaves the office, he takes his phone from his pocket to invite Leo to tea, only to frown as his message returns with an "unable to send" notification. "The hell. Did he go and break his phone again already?" he mumbles to himself. He tries again to the same notification, and his brows knit tighter.

But his concern melts away quickly as a message from Vanessa pops up on his screen instead.

"Come to the garden, Mom's feeling well enough to have tea outside today."

Elliot smiles gently, feelings his spirits lift. "Leo'll be fine," he assures himself as he sends his sister a thumbs up emoji in response. "Probably just let his phone die, he's always careless like that." And with that, he shoves his phone back into his pocket, and his concern into the corners of his mind.

Hey Maja!! Sorry for the late response, I've been busy lately :(

If you're looking for art ideas, then I will happily provide! Idk if this is exactly what you were thinking of, but feel free to draw inspiration from anything that calls to you. Here are some things from PandoraHearts that I wish the fandom drew/explored more:

- Vincent's relation to/past with Miranda Barma (perhaps depicted through Miranda's connection to Demios and/or his inability to free himself from her influence?).

- Gilbert and Vincent's relationship, just in general. It's not that nobody draws them, but I feel like I don't see them in art together very often. And, going off of this...

- The Nightrays! The whole family, whether it's the "Nightray brothers" (Gilbert, Vincent, Elliot) or the rest of the siblings (Vanessa, Ernest, etc.).

- Break's insecurities. You might be wondering, How is this an art idea? The answer is...well, it's something I thought up because almost all the art I see of Break depicts him as a mischievous, mysterious badass. What about the intricacies of his character? What about his fragile/soft moments? I feel like it might be cool to explore this visually, whether through artistic symbolism or something else.

- Xai and Oscar's relationship is extremely overlooked, in my opinion, despite how interesting their characters and the ways they parallel each other are.

- Sharon, but specifically without Break. Although it's undoubtedly true that Break is a better-written character than Sharon, I still love her, and I'd like to see some Sharon appreciation that doesn't always involve reducing her to "Break's loved one." I almost never see any art of her without Break. Oh, and similarly...

- Leo, but specifically without Elliot. Don't get me wrong, I love all of these character pairs, but sometimes I'd like to see Leo appreciated more for his own individual character/story. (Even if it is inevitably intertwined with Elliot's--but almost everything in PandoraHearts is intertwined, isn't it?)

That's all that's coming to mind at the moment. I hope this helps...and that it isn't overwhelming LMAO!

By the way...anyone who hasn't checked out Maja and her art, please do so! She's super talented and her art is wonderful, I promise you'll love it :)

PANDORA HEARTS

Favorite character: ugh it’s SO HARD, but I’ll go with the Main Trio, because they are soft and give me warm feelings! I love how all of them are struggling with memory loss and trauma, and how differently they fight it. They aren’t perfect, but they mean so much. Honorable mentions are Vincent and Lacie, far more problematic characters. but also the ones I relate to the most in some weird way.

Least Favorite character: Idk, like, Miranda? I still don’t get why she wanted Oswald’s head?? was she just real crazy??? that it?????

5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): Oswald/Jack (husbands!), Elliot/Leo (boyfriends!!), Oz/Gilbert (lovers... not in the part where Oz is 15 though. I’m generally keeping an opinion that Oz is an eldritch bunny monster so age doesn’t matter that much in his case, but before he regains his memories even he doesn’t know that. Gilbert definitely doesn’t, and he’d never go for it with a 15yo), Break/Reim (soft!!) aaaand, ugh, Ada/Vanessa (softer!!!!)

Character I find most attractive: ♥Lacie♥ And then after Lacie... Fang!!! Don’t @ me, he’s big and gentle and wields a giant sword, I don’t ask for much in a man. (but also Lacie is like, holy shit, the whole new lvl)

Character I would marry: honestly, Lacie would make a great wife for me because she doesn’t like to be controlled and I don’t like controlling people! This union would probably fuck up my sleep schedule and impulse control, but I’m willing to give it up.  Lacie looks like someone you can just... enjoy the world with, together. Isn’t it a thing to live for?

Character I would be best friends with: probably, like, Lotti? (she’s really cool and we would gossip and bitch about every single one of people we know) 

a random thought: well it’s about Lacie again: I think it’s funny how the manga builds her up. By the time she actually shows up she’s, like, a legend. A secret. A mystery. And it makes her great, but it also kinda fucks her character over (I think it was to keep the mystery and panache that author gave her so many contradictory actions, like developing an empathetic relationship with the formless core of the abyss, but then having her rip human into pieces without second thought and dancing in bloody rain)

An unpopular opinion: Victorian England aestetic? ...way overrated. I know I was all over this shit when I was 13 but now, ugh

My Canon OTP: Jack/Oswald, Elliot/Leo... jokes aside, canon pairings are kinda eh

My Non-canon OTP: look above but also specifically post-canon Gil/Oz/Alice. They have such a great dynamic, I swear, and just re-imagining them in more modern times is so much fuuuun

Most Badass Character: Gilbert. 

Most Epic Villain: Jack (Juries were pretty rad too, esp. theme-wise, but Jack’s betrayal was just so visceral) 

Pairing I am not a fan of: Break/Sharon

Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): the female ones :) (like I’m sorry to say it because a lot of female characters are powerful and cool and have great potential, but their arks just fall flat next to the male character arks. the only exceptions I can think of are Alice and Echo)

Favourite Friendship: Gil and Oz and Alice! But also entire Baskerville family! 

Character I most identify with: probably Alice? I too can be pretty rude and aggressive and absent, but also I’m really emotionally intelligent and honest? I was surprised to recognize this in her, too, but also pleased

Character I wish I could be: Rufus Barma. Reading books... Pretending he’s a weird baloon man... Pining after a more successful woman for decades... dude’s living the life!

Now FENRIS (but I’ll try to keep it short!)

How I feel about this character: he’s great! I think he stands for very important topics, my fave being relationship to the kind of people who traumatized you. Not, like, the person, but the people. This extrapolation happens a lot in real life, and I don’t see it addressed enough in media? I also like that his personal ark (best case scenario) doesn’t end in just learning to see a person beyond just being a mage or not, or just in a death of his former master, or in acceptance of mages as a whole. He actually goes and fights the problematic people. Physically. What an icon! 

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: mostly just Hawke

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: w Isabella! I don’t think they can really develop romantic thing, but their friendship (even with benefits) is so sweet!

My unpopular opinion about this character: ...I honestly don’t know what’s popular, and feel like a grandma about it

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: better relationship with Anders, duh. Like, I know I just said his hatred for mages is kinda cool narrative-wise. But hanging out with someone for 6 years and not being able to empathize with them even a little? really? it just paints them both as really unreasonable. also the constant bickering is kinda annoying. 

Favorite friendship for this character: Bella! but also, you know, the whole Hawke-crew is one big family and I live for that

I fully blame that one special manga scene for this ship. The one in which they are having a tea party and Sharon tells Break that Gilbert learned how to cook because of him and then Gilbert spends two pages gushing about hOW AWESOME REIM IS and that just kinda did it for me (together with all the other little scenes these two get throughout the manga). Because when you think about it, they are very close age-wise, they probably spend a lot of time together and they both bond over what an asshole Break can be. THERE’S POTENTIAL THERE OKAY. Also they would have a very healthy, supportive relationship and it would just be the purest thing ever ?? So yeah. totally shipping them.

Gilbert x Lottie

I FULLY BLAME THE OTHER SPECIAL MANGA SCENE FOR THIS OKAY. The one in Last Dance ?? Where Lottie and Gilbert are bugging Reim b/c they found out he proposed to Sharon. IDK it just hit me how nice their dynamic seemed over those short couple of pages ?? Also I feel like they would really understand each other - they both have Master issues, they are both Baskervilles, they both lost people they cared about, they both had to do horrible things, they both got betrayed by Jack, they both had a special connection with Oswald/Glen, they are both kinda mother hens let’s be real. But they still did very different things with their common ground. Gilbert chose to sort of abandon Oswald/Glen because he couldn’t accept his decisions, while Lottie chose to stop him but still stayed by his side instead. They could talk about these things and it would be such an interesting conversation!! Aaaand someone in the fandom once said that since Lottie likes to cook too, she could help Gilbert learn how to cook with only one hand and just !! imagine !! the cuteness !!

Okay this is the part where it gets really crack-y okay pls don’t judge too hard

Leo x Gilbert

HEAR ME OUT. Bonding over Elliot’s death ?? Bonding over Oswald ?? Bonding over that whole Glen Baskerville thing in general ?? Bonding over Vincent being a self-sacrificing idiot ?? Bonding over Oz & Oz’ death ?? Just. Them being there for each other in ways no one else could be there for them. They are both servants. They are both kind of Glen B. (even though Gilbert isn’t anymore but like. he was supposed to be, he grew up being prepared to take over that role, something must have stuck) They both lost the same people. It probably wouldn’t be like. a very good (as in healthy and based on trust, true love) relationship, but it would be an interesting, darker one. It also probably wouldn’t last but that’s not the point of shipping anyway is it ?? 

Gilbert x The other Nightray siblings

Okay. This one is. Going to take a while to explain. I once read a pretty dark Gilbert x Vanessa fanfiction and that was when it just ?? occured to me that while we don’t get to see much of the other Nightray siblings (RIP I guess) except for Elliot (with whom I do not ship Gilbert with because they actually have a brother-brother bond in my eyes tbh) they still have potential to have interesting dynamics with Gilbert (and Vincent, too, so I guess I ship Vincent with them, too). Especially when you look at it from a ‘we are using each other for things’ point of view. Like them using Gilbert to try and get to Raven’s power or just using him for the Nightray’s dirty work in general. Gilbert using them for information he could pass on to Break. The Nightrays are already a pretty dysfunctional bunch so why not add that kind of dysfunctional relationship/dynamic, too ??

Gilbert x Sharon

I don’t have an excuse for this, they are just both really nice & caring characters and they would deserve each other okay. With that said:

Vincent x Sharon

If I remember correctly, Jun once stated that an arranged marriage between Vincent and Sharon was supposed to be a plot point in the manga so ?? I could see it work in a ‘we are both highly political and totally maybe not on the same side so we’ll just really use each other for our own gain and whups what do you mean we could also team up and be badass together ??’ way. Break would probably kill Vincent first though so 

Break x Rufus Barma

I once got a fanfiction promopt for them so. I blame the person who prompted me. I can’t un-see it, you know ?? B/c once I started to think about their potential dynamic in order to write the fanfic, tHE DYNAMIC WAS JUST THERE OKAY. IT WAS JUST THERE. and it would work ?? I mean. The relationship between these two would probably be based on them constantly trading secrets and informations with each other and trying to out-plot the other one, but they could still be a pretty good couple. Much like Vincent x Sharon: they would just team up and screw over everybode else together.

Oswald/Glen x that Nightray dude that warned him about Jack

b/c why not ?? We know next to nothing about that guy so why not make him someone who cared about Oswald and tried to give him some love because Oswald dESERVES IT OKAY.

Jack x Arthur Barma

Again: why not ? Arthur totally had a crush on him and it would make Jack betraying him so much more brutal and cold hearted (or Jack was actually also in love with him but his obsession with Lacie was still stronger).

Jack x Miranda Barma

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (honestly if I wouldn’t read Jack as kinda grey-ace / not interested in other people besides Oswald and Lacie, these two could just have some kind of. friends with benefits relationship without the being actual friends part.)

It would be like Romeo and Juliet but gay They could either be using each other to get information, or they could be actually in love and just. be tragically seperated by their family feud. 

Lottie x Sharon

The female power couple I deserve. They are both Queens. They both care a lot about the people important to them. They are both willing to make sacrifices and they are both very smart on an emotional level. Also they could totally bond about the dumb men in their lives.

Oz x Break

... I don’t even know why myself. They are just very similar to each other and it would be like one bunny bumping heads with another bunny.

Reim x Lottie

J U S T. do it for the aesthetic, if not for anything else ?? They are both really smart and - out of their respective groups - the ones who look like they have their life together the most but actually don’t

Elliot x Alice

No idea where that one is coming from tbh, they just seem like they would kinda. click. with each other. also imagine the look on Oz’ and Gilbert’s faces

Alice x Gilbert

In a world where the Tragedy Of Sablier never happened, these two grow up together and have a very ‘slow burn childhood friends to lovers’ trope going on. f i g h t     m e one day Gilbert is sad so Alice gives him a very cute stuffed rabbit (“this one always protects me when I’m sad I can lend him to you”) and from then on they just share the stuffed rabbit with each other as their protector

As an unhealthy use of his Fi he thinks his opinion are actual facts and he openly tells his opinions (telling Oz that he is far too weak or that Oz is annoying just like Edgard). When someone has a different opinion he tries to convince the person and doesn’t care wether he hurts the other persons feelings and thinks about the person as stupid for having that opinion. That’s the case when he asks Oz about the character of the book ‘Holy Knight’. When he hears that Oz opinion is different he tries to convince Oz of his own opinion and is really rude. But often he just doesn’t realise that he hurts others with his words or doesn’t realise the feelings of others in general. For example when he tells Oz he acts like a suicidal person and that Oz only tries to protect himself. Another example is his argument with his sister where he realises how lonely and worried she is. She has to punch him and tell him what she feels so that even he realises it. Elliot has high set principles too. He gets angry when Leo didn’t tell him that Oz is a intruder, because he thinks that he has to take steps against those who broke the rules and introdude (Or getting angry when the Baskervilles renege their promise towards Oz and telling that taking the lives of the Baskervilles is the duty and honor for nobles). He doesn’t see him as a possibly murderer of Vanessa, because she is his sister. He also doesn’t like it when people are phony and not honest (doesn’t want a noble as a servant who talks behind his back), and furthermore, isn’t able to express his feelings through words to others. He isn’t able to admit that he likes Oz and looks for another reason why he came to Oz’s coming of age ceremony. Additionally he blushes when Oz tells him that he want to become Elliot’s friend and starts to insult Oz to hide his embarassment or  how much he likes cats. He cares a lot about Oz, Leo and his family and would do anything for them. But he shows his feeling through his actions like the pieces of music he composes for Leo and his mother. And despite acting cold towards Ada as a Vessalius he is worried when he finds her laying on the ground unconciously.

Extroverted Sensing (Se):

Elliot lives in the moment and enjoys sensory activities like playing the piano and sword fighting. And he is good at it too. He is able to assess a situation through Se. An example is when he sees Xerxes Break in the inner part in Sablier. In the split of a second he is able to judge that he and Leo just would be a disability for Xerxes Break and as a solution he runs away. He also doesn’t want to make plans and tells Oz when Oz asks what he would do when Oz hase to get caught by the Baskervilles in order to let Elliot and Leo escape that he think about it when the things reach the point of no return. Furthermore Elliot uses his Se to express his feelings. He shows them through outburst of emotions when he roar at people and attack them by an act of emotions with his sword (attacking Gil the first time he sees him again).

Introverted Intuition (Ni):

As his tertiary he isn’t always able to see the feelings and motives of the people around him, but sometimes he has intuitive insights or analyses the informations he gained through his observation (+Se). Although he doesn’t really is informed about flower symbolism he uses the idea of his sister to name the song for his mother after a flower. Furthermore he uses other symbolism when he describes Isla Yura He also has certain goals he wants to achieve like getting the headhunter.

Extroverted Thinking (Te):

The most time Elliot takes action without planning and thinking so much, but he uses Te function when he works for getting the headhunter. There he works methodically through first gaining as much informations as possible before acting (+Ni). The same goes for the time where he tries to convince his family about his new servant Leo. He also often doesn’t stick to the rules to enforce his own individual ideas. He doesn’t budge the order of his family to take a noble as his servant or doesn’t listen to him when they tell him not to talk to Gilbert after they adopted Gil.
