So I'm working on the English version of my fanfic In a Dimly Glass and hopefully I can finish the translation by the end of this year. I don't know how many people are around would enjoy reading Mael/Estarossa (I mean, in a ship way) fanfic, or, the ship itself in general, but I still give this a chance.
Summary (extended version compared to the one on AO3): After a stranger died in the Kirk, vampires started to cause the misfortune in the village, where Mael the Elder of the Kirk resided. While protecting his people from the evil creatures, the Elder had dark, sinful secret. Infatuated by Estarossa, a vampire who had the similar resemblance, Mael gradually reached the truth of the conflict, the churches and his own identity.
"For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known." 1 Corinthians 13:12 KJV

What happens if Meliodas never betrayed the demon race?
With the demon race winning and becoming more dangerous with Meliodas in their side. The goddesses race decided to seal them all thus losing their physical form.
The og gowther won't sacrifice himself to stop the holy war and still might be with the TC. The vampires still got sealed since even without Mel's betrayal they fought back or Zeldris sealed the vampire race so they won't get affected by the war and Gelda.
How would Britannia survive?
Honestly not sure. Maybe The sins will still formed but Elizabeth would be the leader. How? Well, the SD gave Eli immortality and tasked her to look after the seal so the demon race won't be resurrected.
I would like this au because I love evil baddass Mel and demon gowther and Mel friendship maybe even brother bonding between Zeldris and Meliodas since there is no Estarossa.
You can't tell me otherwise that Gowther doesn't stay by Mel side and is his best friend, the one he is most comfortable off, and everyone knows that. It was obvious.
When the TC got resurrected, Gowther was beside Mel as they listen Fraudrin talking, informing them what happened for 3000 years even in Edinburgh.
If Meliodas never betrayed the clan, things would be VERY different. For one... he and Elizabeth would never be in love, nor would the Sins actually exist! At least... not in the same way they do now, at least. The series as a whole would be fundamentally changed because there would BE no Great Holy War, there would be no Giant and Fairy King Drole and Gloxinia joining the Commandments, which would mean that King's disappearance and resulting amnesia wouldn't result in Elaine being the only one to protect the Great Forest and Fountain of Youth, meaning Ban would never have had to drink the Fountain, because Gloxinia would still be around.
With Drole around than there's a chance Diane wouldn't have had to suffer as much as she did growing up and might not have been abandoned because Diane would be very much like Drole. Even if he isn't present, the actions and events affecting her would change as well because he would most certainly challenge the death of Matrona, even if she isn't a queen she was at the very least one of his chieftains, and he wouldn't have let Diane simply take the fault for her death simply because she was present. The political world would look completely different!
That's not even getting into the changes from Demon Clan and Goddess Clans or the changes humans would have because, with no Great Holy War, there would be no sealing if the demon clan. The way magic worked would be fundamentally different. Humans would not have nearly as much power as they have on present-day Brittania! Even if they did get sealed and war did happen anyways, it wouldn't have been nearly as bad as it had been when Meliodas had betrayed the clan. There'd also be no Estarossa, and Elizabeth probably wouldn't even NEED immortality because she'd have never been resurrected as a human and would have retained her goddess form, effectively making her immortal anyways!

TW for emotional ab*se!
Meliodas and Zeldris are being emotionally abused by the DK. CANONICALY! The signs are there:
Monitoring where you are (The commandment of Piety reported the whereabouts of Zeldris to the Demon King directly, even when he tried meeting up with Gelda in private)
Putting down interests (The DK probably didn't care about the fact that Zeldris liked Dragon hunting as a hobby, or that both men wanted a relationship with a woman. He thought of it as 'weakness')
Yelling (In the scene where the DK ordered Zeldris to execute the Vampires, he screamed at Zeldris to be quiet 'or something to that affect' which most likely shook the castle or room that they were in)
Shaming (I know it was only an illusion by Gowther, but the Demon King DID call Estarossa worthless before he recieved Meliodas' commandment. Who's to say he never said this to Zeldris or Meliodas?)

For the name a fandom thing, of course i'm gonna ask about seven deadly sins first 🏃
Thank you so much for asking ^^
Ask game
The character I first fell in love with: King, definitely. I loved his introduction and he just got better and better.
The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Derieri! I should have totally paid more attention to her when I first read the manga.
The character everyone else loves that I don’t: Estarossa, I think. He was a good villain but I never really liked him, while I feel like people generally like him a lot.
The character I love that everyone else hates: I don’t know if people hate her or just straight up forgot about her existence (understandably), but I really, really like Ren. Yes, that Vampire that dies five minutes after her introduction. I feel like I’m the only one.
The character I used to love but don’t any longer: I can’t think about anyone actually?
The character I would totally smooch: uh this is hard … probably Gowther. He is cute.
The character I’d want to be like: Jericho, I like a lot the person she became.
The character I’d slap: the Demon King, multiple times - he is so annoying (and also a terrible person and character)
A pairing that I love: Kiane! It’s still a favourite of mine!
A pairing that I don’t: I don’t have very strong feelings towards the pairing I don’t love usually … I don’t particularly like Elizabeth and Mael/Estarossa though.

The story of the sad Chapter 7
Word Count: 1,136
Pairing: hinted Ban x reader
Warnings: cursing
Tumblr media
You didn´t notice Meliodas and Elaine rushing to your side, you didn´t even notice that you started crying in the middle of the ball. It was all a blur. You just couldn´t grasp what just happened and why Ban reacted the way he did. It took all of your mental strength to finally confess to him and he completely broke you. Why couldn´t he believe you?
“You okay? What happened?” Meliodas asked, resting his hand on your shoulder.
Instead of words only sobs came out of your mouth.
“What did he say?” Elaine sounded ready to fight as she hugged you.
You just shook your head, still unable to do anything.
How was it possible that one human being could have such an effect on you?
“Let´s get out of here, okay?” Meliodas called out to you and you nodded.
“I´ll go search for Ban and make sure he´s sorry for whatever he just said to you!” Elaine balled her fists and frowned, walking away determined.
Meliodas and you walked back to the Boar Hat where you got out of your fancy clothes and slipped into something more comfortable.
You finished crying about half way but now that you were about to explain what happened, you had to cry again.
Meliodas waited patiently until you were ready to talk and listened all the way through.
“Ban´s an idiot” Meliodas said after you finished.
It was as if he just stated a fact, but not only that, he sounded confused too.
“Yeah, no shit” you chuckled dryly.
“No, not in an ´what a fucking prick way´, just a real idiot. I just don´t get why he thought it was a joke, how stupid can you get?” Melidoas shook his head, sighing.
You couldn´t help but to burst out in laughter.
Meliodas smiled at your quick change of heart.
“You want a drink?” he asked, pouring you the ale as you nodded.
Meanwhile Elaine has found Ban and prepared to give him a good scolding.
But she stopped when she saw his sad figure sitting in the training yards behind the castle.
He had his head hung low and rested his arms on his legs.
Elaine approached him carefully, not knowing what to say.
She was so happy when she saw that you were planning to confess, she even gave you a thumbs up, thinking it would work. She really rooted for you, alongside Meliodas.
But now the situation seemed even more glum than before.
She sat down next to him and decided to give her support instead of a scolding, he´d get the scolding later when he was feeling better.
“You alright?” she made herself known with a face full of worry.
“What do you think?” he mumbled, Elaine could hear the hurt in his voice.
“What happened? Didn´t (Y/N) want to dance with you?” she tried to bring up the topic as objectively as she could.
“I guess so…” Ban smiled sadly as he looked at Elaine´s worried face, he knew in that instance that you were serious. And he also realized that he pushed you away.
Elaine put her hand on his shoulder to show her support.
“It´s not too late, Ban” she whispered and his heart felt as if someone was squeezing it with all their might.
“I´m so stupid, why do I have to doubt everything? Why can´t I just let myself be happy?” he whined, sometimes he thought he should stay loyal to his sin, screw the consequences, screw what everybody else or even he himself thought, he should just chase his happiness.
“You´re not selfish enough for that. You´re a good person, Ban.” Elaine asked herself countless times why he couldn´t see that.
“I really screwed up this time, Elaine…” Ban groaned, he really wanted to rewind time and make it up.
“You can still fix things” she mentioned, hoping Ban would get up and chase you, win you over.
“I think it´s better if I go back to the Boar Hat and try to get some sleep” he sounded defeated, it made Elaine sad seeing him so unable to fight for something he yearned for so badly.
They returned to the Boar Hat and found themselves unable to enter at the sound of crying and Meliodas´ and (Y/N)´s voices.
“I really miss him, you know?” you and Meliodas were reminiscing again, it was your annual crying event so to speak.
“He just was too perfect to be true… I mean he still is. Sometimes I think everything would be easier if he was dead, we wouldn´t be in this situation now. We wouldn´t have to kill the people we care about. But he´s still alive and yet I think that when they return they won´t be the same, they´ll be the demons my race loathes so much…” you sobbed, downing another glass of ale.
Meliodas chuckled.
“I know it´s hard for you, but trust me, my brothers aren´t that big of a deal, I killed two of them already. In all honesty, you´d be enough to take them all out. It wouldn´t even take that long with your sword” he noticed coldly, which made you frown, you knew how much he loved his siblings and how hard it was for him to leave them. Maybe he just said that to make you feel better.
You smiled as you thought about your time with Estarossa.
“Do you know when I really knew he was the one? When I knew that I loved him? I think it was when Mael was picking on me again for being weak. It was when I was still in training, after he stole my place in the four archangels. And Estarossa told him off, saying I was stronger than he´d ever be. And then he killed him for me. Mael was such an asshole, ugh.” you chuckled, sometimes you just needed to delve in the past.
Meliodas joined in on your laughter.
“Oh yeah he was, he was so arrogant too, real prick” he added.
Ban and Elaine only entered when the noises stopped and they were sure both of you were asleep. They went to their respective rooms and also went to sleep.
You didn´t talk to Ban anymore, didn´t even acknowledge him, it was just to hurtful. After all he told you to leave him alone and that´s exactly what you did.
But no matter how many vampires, troll queens and other monsters you slayed on your missions, he just wouldn´t get out of your head.
And even though life was already shitty enough, it was only about to get worse when the murder of your former superior Zaratras was framed on you and the rest of the sins.
Meliodas last order was to scatter, he wanted all of you to get away safely.

My Thoughts on Seven Deadly Sins Ending
Warning the text below is my opinion and nothing more on the ending of the Manga known as The Seven Deadly Sins and what has lead up to it, if you disagree with what I have to say that’s fine, but please do not do personally attacks. That said Seven Deadly Sins has ended after releasing its final Chapter on Tuesday after 8 years of publication. On to my thoughts well… honestly, I didn’t feel anything. No satisfaction, no anger or Sadness. I just felt nothing. I had been reading this manga for 4 years and with each passing year my interest in the series just waned down, till finally I stopped caring.
I still remember how I got into the series by watching the anime on Netflix which got me hooked on the series with Elizabeth, Meliodas and the talking pig Hawk trying to gather the seven deadly sins in order fight the corrupted order of holy knights, then went to the manga for more content because there was only 1 season in which I saw the seven deadly sisn face the demon clans strongest warriors the ten commandments. I got into the manga just when the Great Fight Festival arc was closing and Meliodas was killed. In some sense probably after that is were I felt the series started to decline as the Defensive Battle for Liones arc which started right after ended up bringing Meliodas back rather quickly (though timewise in manga it was a gap of few months) about half the ten Commandments appeared to have been defeated rather quickly despite over 70+ chapters of build-up.
Granted there was still great moments in it, Escanor vs Estarossa & Escanorr vs Meliodas are probably my favourite one on one battles, the growing darkness in Meliodas was promising at least and I’d enjoyed seeing the 4 archangels vs the ten commandments in the Memories of the Holy War arc. But afterwards it was becoming clear that a few of the standard problems with a weekly shonen battle manga tend to have was starting to happen with the Series such as: ever increasing power levels leading side character and even some main character like Ban being left behind, redemption arcs for half the bad guys (This happening to Drole, Gloxinia and Derieri) turning good only to be killed by more powerful enemies an arc later even they barley had time to be portrayed as villains and complicated lore which repeatedly got retconned to fit the current direction the plot was going was.
I’d say during the New Holy War arc was these problems were hard to ignore. Now granted the set was good at least, you had had the seven deadly sins lead by Elizabeth in the absence of Meliodas & the Holy Knights teaming up with the revived archangels into a group called Stigma against the Demon Clan lead by Melodias’s brother Zeldris and their mentors Chandler & Cusack. With the aim to destroy the Demon Clan and rescue Meliodas before he becomes the next Demon King by gathering all the ten commandments powers. Meanwhile you have Estarossa Searching for the Ten Commandments for his own purpose and well as mysterious past with Elizabeth and the final Archangel Mael.
Now the first problem was due to the fact at this point the other 8 Commandments who weren’t Zeledris and Estarossa were either beaten or no longer villains, meant you had no known named bad guys to fight against the sins, holy knights & archangels so you had pretty much the first wave was Stigma against demon clans henchmen. So that ended rather quickly showing off the powers of the sins & archangels, with a few holy knights standing out particularly the ones powered up by the Goddess clan as there were really no threating enemies. Granted this changed when Estarossa came in chasing Derieri after killing her partner Monspeet taking his commandment and began fighting against the archangels Sariel & Tarmiel with the power of three commandments (Galand’s being the third after he killed him, which I thought was a waste as I’d hoped he have a rematch with Ban).
Everything with Estarossa I’d say was great, the battle against the Archangels, the revelation that he was actually the archangel Meal who once possessed Escanor’s powers but had his memories manipulated by the original Gowther was executed perfectly. The and the final fight against him in which you had the seven deadly sins, the archangels Sariel & Tarmiel and Derieri fight and try to save him as he gets consumed by the power of commandments he has in his possession, from his grief for what he had done as Estarossa and anger at feels at Gowther for what his creator had done to him. Resulting in the deaths of Sariel, Tarmiel and Derieri stealing her commandment, to then being defeated by a newly powered up King after Olso gave his live to protect him. Then being brought back into the light after Mael learnt from Gwother that the reason why the original Gowther chose him to be Estarossa was because Mael had killed his lover. In many ways I felt the Estarossa/Mael plotline was bettet handle than the Obito plotline in Naruto.
Other things just I’d enjoyed in the war arc was Meliodas’s Emtions/goodside and Ban’s time with Hawk’s Brother Wild as well as Escanor, Merlin Ludociel, Hendrickson & Gilthunder vs Zeldris, Chandler & Cusack (granted Hendrickson and Gilthunder were more background characters really). However after that the arc goes downhill and gets messy as it’s revealed that whoever gets the power of all ten commandments doesn’t become the new demon king but gets possessed by him, as the final battle in the arc becomes the seven deadly sins, the two remain archangels and Zeledris vs The Demon King, most of it being inside Meliodas’s mind. The Battle feels very anticlimactic but ends on a bittersweet note with Ludociel dying afterwards and becoming clear that Meliodas can’t stay much longer now that he has the powers of the Demon King.
I think the series would have been fine ending after that, but Nakaba Suzuki the mangaka ends up being a troll by having Elizabeth still cursed as the demon King Survived after taking over Zeldris and now the Sins have the save him with the help of his Vampire lover Gelda. The battle is overdrawn out but ends once again on a bittersweet note as Escanor dies after overexposure to the ability sunshine. But even then, the series is not over and now you have Arthur a character who was killed a few arcs back is revived by Merlin so he can becomes the new lord of chaos but he chased by a monster cat called Cath who wants to eat him so he can have the power. By that point I just stopped caring as it was dealt with so quickly like an afterthought.
So, we ended up with an ending that while nice that the sins have all gotten together with their respective couples, everything else feels like it was either resolved off screen or forgotten about. I’m wondering what has happened to Merlin as she isn’t in the final chapters for some reason, neither when the sins depart or reunite for Meliodas and Elizabeth’s son’s birthday.
In many ways Seven Deadly Sins is the third manga that’s ended on a disappointing note for me, but unlike Naruto where is has gotten me really angry about how it ended or Bleach really sad with how it ended, I feel nothing for how Seven Deadly Sins ended. Which is a shame as for while this manga while it was coming out on the same day as Fairy Tail’s chapters I’d often used as something to enjoy when Fairy Tail had one of it’s more infamous moments (though I will admit I did like the final chapter and the Squeal series 100 Year Quest is really good), but now in some ways it ended being more disappointing than Fairy Tail.
It had some great characters such as Ban & Escanor with some memorable battles like the ones I mentioned above and a pretty good anime (at least first 2 seasons as I hear the 3rd budget is really poor), but it got too ridiculous in it’s plots past the first saga maybe even the second , couldn’t figure out which bad guy to end on and perhaps focused too much on the shipping side. Granted I know it will be getting a Spin off/sequel series called Four Knights of the Apocalypse and I will check it out. I just hope it can recapture the enthusiasm I had for the world of the Seven Deadly Sins.

Geldris Week Day 6: Found
This is the final chapter! Hope you’ve enjoyed it if you’re following this story.
It was cold, grey clouds rolling like waves across the pewter sky. Zeldris took deep breaths of the chilled air, trying to chase the feeling of panic that made his hearts race and his stomach clench into knots, but the rush of the wind as it battered against his body stirred his blood, and he felt his breathing quicken involuntarily. Anxiety was an emotion he had little experience of dealing with, and he found he did not like it one little bit.
He wanted to run, to fly far, far away, to do anything but harm the woman he loved. He swallowed hard as images of Gelda were seared into his brain. He could see her sliced through with his sword, blood pooling on the primrose silk draped over her form and running down this blade like crimson paint. He could practically smell the vampires’ fear, hear their cries of anguish, taste the iron tang on the breeze. Leaning over sharply Zeldris spat bile into the grass, closing his eyes tight; there was no way he could fulfil his father’s command.
But if he refused…
Rubbing his face Zeldris looked towards the sky, feeling a cool mist dust over his skin. The rain was light, barely making an impression on the lands that surrounded him though the bracken bent under the press of the wind. He had to stop stalling, to act, and act fast. If he failed his mission, another more sadistic would take it. Perhaps even the king would take matters into his own hands.
That thought got him moving. With quick strides, Zeldris made his way towards the golden edifice of Edinburgh Castle, his feet practically gliding over the undulating ground. The light drizzle grew increasingly intense, droplets coalescing together before pelting down from the sky, first as light summer rain then a serious shower. Sheets of water swept downwards, soaking the ground, puddles of it seeping around the edges of his boots as he trudged onwards. He relished the discomfort, willing the rain to lash him like a whip; he deserved nothing but pain for the sin he was about to commit.
I love you.
The memory of her words and her soft smile, pointed fangs peeking through, made him pull up short. He stood, face tilted towards the sky, brain working like fury and water running in rivers down his face as he tried and failed to come up with a solution. Frustration took hold as he dismissed one plan after another, but nothing seemed to stick and the urgency of the situation pressed down upon him until it was impossible to think.
It took him a while to register that he was screaming to the heavens, his fists balled so tightly it was painful to release his fingers from their grip. If Drole and Gloxinia could have seen him now, no doubt they would regret their decision to join the demons, to accept the Commandments which bound their souls to that of the king. In fact, if he had not been able to seal the giant king’s magic, Drole would most likely not have made the switch.
Zeldris stood frozen, his mind working in a frenzy, the air leaving his lungs in a sigh as he settled on the answer. As long as he was thorough there would be nothing to fear. He trudged on, picking up his pace as the wet began to soak through to his skin, and he shivered in the ice of the wind. He could barely see in front of him, the landscape blurred to dull greens and greys and the odd flash of mustard, but still he knew the way. He could feel Gelda’s power calling to him, the warmth welcome as it ran through his form, and he sent out his own signature in response, trying to tell her what he was about to do, to provide her with some comfort. He didn’t care that the others of her family would notice; he wanted the vampires to know he was coming. That way they would all be in the same place and easier to deal with.
I love you.
Pressing on against the downpour he found himself outside Edinburgh castle, the golden stone and chromatic glass of the windows faded in the low, grey light. He was not surprised to see them waiting for him, the gate of the castle lowered to show the vampires sheltering within. His eyes ran over the mass of their king, the smaller forms of Orlondi and Ren until he found the one he sought. He swallowed hard as violet eyes met his own, wide and shining with unshed tears.
As Izarf strode forward, the others followed in his wake, Gelda stepping gracefully along beside them. He did not take her gaze from her as they converged on him, no doubt with faces dark and leering. He did not care. This would be the last time he would see the woman he loved, who he adored with every fibre of his being, for who knew how many long, lonely years, and he was going to commit every aspect of her to memory. He willed the way she moved to be locked into his brain, the shine of her golden hair, the way her neat braid swung a little as she walked, the delicate blush on her porcelain skin. It was all he could do to hold back, to stay standing still and he fought the urge to run into her arms.
If he was to avoid a confrontation he would need to move now. Before the vampires reached him, the words of the spell rasped like metal on the breeze as he shouted over the battering wind and the incessant patter of the driving rain. Power bloomed through him, pulsing and twisting, but Zeldris ignored it as a mulberry gauze spread from his fingertips to build a dome over his supposed foes, locking them away from the outside world. The material shimmered, shifting and spreading an eerie light over the hills. He saw none of it, his eyes locked on Gelda as her face softened with her smile.
I love you. I will come back for you.
Her lips moved, the rose bud twisting and stretching, but could not hear her voice, could not make out what her last words to him were. Her hand pressed against her cage, fingertips splaying slightly against the lavender haze. He stepped towards her, fighting back tears but managing to hold eye contact until her smile broadened and he could see the forgiveness etched on her face. A sudden pang of disgust made him to drop his gaze to the floor, breathing hard, the grass around his black boots bending under the force of the weather. Letting go a shuddering breath, he murmured the final phrase of the spell, the howl of the wind muted by a loud crackle and hiss as the dome collapsed in on itself, pulling the vampires within into the depths of the earth, away from war, from disease, safe even from time itself. They would rest there between waking and sleeping until he came to release them from the seal.
“I love you!”
He screamed, damp eyes snapping upwards to where Gelda had moments ago stood before him. But there was nothing there, only the sodden land dotted with the deep greens of bracken and heather, tiny purple tips adorning the spiked stems, a slight depression in the leaves where Gelda’s feet had once been. The pain was unbearable, consuming his soul as warm tears ran to mingle with the cold rain.
“I love you, and I will win this war,” he yelled to the sky, determination firing through him as his hands clenched at his sides.

The pain in his arm was nothing, barely even noticeable over the fury, the shame, the utter humiliation at being subdued so damn easily. Zeldris struggled against the hand that gripped at him almost lazily, pressing his arm into his back, twisting it until his weapon he held fell with a clang to the stone flagons. Teeth grinding together, he pulled hard, aiming a kick at his brother’s shins. Meliodas had, after thousands of years, just strolled into the kingdom he had subjugated and in a few seconds flat knocked both him and Estarossa to the floor. The traitor looked more like his old self compared to the last time Zeldris had clapped eyes on him, power pulsing from his form and cold face set like stone. There was no hesitation in his brother’s movements, no sign of wavering; it was as if he knew their father had said the little shit could just walk straight back to his birthright, no questions asked.
The black pit that was Edinburgh rose up before him, engulfing him in desolation and rage. He snarled, tugging with all his might in a bid for freedom, bile splashing the back of his throat as his brother leaned towards him, shivering as the traitor’s warm breath ghosted over his skin.
“Gelda is alive.”
Zeldris stilled in an instant, muscles taut. It had to be a lie. Meliodas always had played fast and loose with the truth; this was merely another of his tricks. Readying himself for a renewed attack, Zeldris angled his body so that he could flip backwards and kick the damn shit in his odious face, whatever the strength of the grip pinning his arm to the small of his back. He had thought of little else since he had seen the tear in the ground, the dark nothing where Edinburgh Castle had once stood, where he had secured the woman he loved so that she would come to no harm. Somehow, the traitor had found her and killed her and whatever happened next he would have his revenge.
“I re-sealed her,” Meliodas whispered, Zeldris straining to catch the barely-there words. “She is waiting for you.”
“Lies!” Zeldris snapped.
Meliodas chuckled, cutting off his retort. “She asked me to kill her,” he said lazily, Zeldris’s hair standing up on the back of his neck. “Such loyalty! She did not want to go on without you.”
Throat closing up, Zeldris shut his eyes, taking careful sips of the air to try and quell the rush of emotion. It was almost unbearable. Gelda alive, so distraught she had asked for death at the hands of his own brother. He swallowed hard as his mouth watered uncontrollably even as his hearts pounded like drums and he struggled to breathe. She was alive, maybe even within his reach. He bit his lip hard, the tang of iron coating his tongue. She was alive and he loved her.
“Help me become demon king and I will take you to her. You can both be free,” Melidoas coaxed, his voice soft as feathers. “No more sacrifice, no more duty. I will release you from your service. You and the princess can live exactly as you please.”
“Why should I believe you?” Zeldris hissed, his voice little more than a wisp on the wind.
“Because you want to.” Zeldris’s arm dropped to his side, blood gushing once more through the veins leaving little trails of sparks, and he quickly clenched and unclenched his fingers to regain control of his limb. “I know you, remember? You are also loyal, to a fault. Do precisely as I ask and that loyalty will be rewarded.”
The world shifted. The ache he had carried since sealing his love adjusted itself, morphing to a duller throb. His surroundings pulled back into focus, the pale face of his tutor, the cracked stones on the floor, the wide, glowing eyes of the shining goddess who had caused all the problems. He sucked in a breath as she shot his brother a sharp look, one that radiated a concern and tenderness Meliodas did not deserve.
“You will see her again, I promise,” murmured the prince and Zeldris relented, his body almost collapsing as the tension peeled away. He had no choice: if there was the slightest possibility Gelda could be restored to him, he had to take it, even if the chance of success was little more than a fool’s forlorn hope.
“I… am trusting you on that,” he muttered reluctantly, turning to meet his brother’s pitch black eyes as Meliodas folded his arms across his chest.

Happy Birthday Gelda!
Yes, it is still the 19th somewhere, so I am posting a new chapter of The Demon Game, which I haven’t written since her last birthday! Gelda is my favorite girl from NnT, so I couldn’t possibly let her birthday go without doing something to celebrate.
In this part, Zeldris runs into the vampire princess a year after they met again, and again she is as infuriating and intriguing as ever. This time, however, trouble comes upon them. You can read the new part here! Below is a little preview:
Both of them hesitate, and Zeldris could feel himself want to panic at figuring out what to say. But Gelda spoke for them both and answered, “We’ve been seeing each other. Romantically. In secret.”
“It’s a lie!” Estarossa shouted with a harsh laugh. He pointed a finger straight at Zeldris. “He can’t fall in love. He’d have to get his head out of his ass long enough to—”
“Shut it,” Meliodas growled as his eyes locked with Zeldris’ own. “Is this true?”
“Of course it’s true,” Gelda scoffed. “Do you call me a liar?”
Zeldris debated ripping out her tongue for a brief moment as he observed a vein on Meliodas’ head twitch. “Tell the vampire not to test me,” Meliodas growled.
His pulse was racing, but if they were going to get out of this, Zeldris decided it was best to go all in. “You just told Estarossa to be respectful. You ought to do the same.”
Something shifted in Meliodas’ eyes, and Zeldris held his breath. But then his gaze shifted to Gelda. “Prove it.”

When Galand said that, Meliodas immediately goes "How did you know I killed myself?" And the room pauses, even Estarossa raising his head to stare at the wayward prince.
"You... actually killed yourself?" Melascula asked quietly, "He meant when you passed out during our fight, because you were clearly near-death from trying to be human for so long, but if you actually killed yourself..."
Zeldris immediately grabs Mel by the shoulders and starts looking him over. Yes he has already been healed but- "How are you still alive?! You said it like you succeeded, so how?!" Meliodas grimaced at the, rather unfortunate, turn of events. Even though all he wanted to do was avoid this topic and, admittedly, go back to enjoying this cuddle pile, he knew that the Commandments were collectively stubborn enough to even wear him down.
"I... I was cursed. A long time ago." He admitted, "I can't die. I just... come back." There, that should be enough, right?
"Cursed?" Monspeet echoes, his tone thoughtful.
"Who the hell by?" Derieri snarled, bristling.
There's a moment where the others stare at Meliodas, but instead of prying the answer out of him like he expected, they begin to brainstorm.
"A mage, perhaps?" Galand mutters, "They would the sort to do this."
"There are few mages in all of history who could curse someone as powerful as Meliodas, and I doubt any in this era are strong enough." Gloxinia says, settling on Drole's arm as the giant still hasn't sat up.
"The druids, then? There are still tribes lurking about." Melascula says as she draped herself over Galand, having moved from her original position.
"The druids are strictly neutral in conflicts, minus the ones that affect them directly. Even then, their ways are to keep the balance of the natural world. Cursing someone like that would directly go against their beliefs, they would never do something like that no matter the circumstances." Drole explained, brows furring as he tried to think of anyone who would do this.
"It was father." Everyone froze, before turning to the source of the voice. Estarossa finally sat up, careful not to jostle Gelda as he went. "The Demon King cursed Meliodas." He stated again.
Meliodas flinched, but luckily no one saw as they stared at the tallest prince in shock. Even Meldiodas stared a little, surprised that he had figured it out so quickly- well, sort of.
"You're sure?" Zeldris asked, well, demanded was more accurate. "How do you know?" Though that question was weaker, clearly he can imagine how Estarossa could make such a guess.
"Father is not the forgiving type, and easily has the power to curse even us, his own children. It also fits his style, don't you think?" He sighs as he runs his hand through his hair, making the bedhead even worse.
"But still... to curse his own son?" Gelda asked, but at her mate's sigh, she knew the answer.
"He knew we were together, and still ordered me to slaughter the vampire clan. Especially you. It's likely he even suspected something would happen to the demon clan, and knew if that happened, Meliodas would be forced to spend eternity without even a chance at a proper pack."
The Commandments collectively shuddered at the thought. If it wasn't for the fact they knew Meliodas wasn't ready for it, they would have swarmed him, surrounding him with the smell and feel of pack and safety to comfort both him and themselves. Instead the air filled with a mix of distressed and comforting noises.
"Ah... not quite." A quiet voice piped up, finally. "While I was cursed, father wasn't the one who did this to me. He cursed someone else... while the Supreme Deity cursed me."
"What?!?!" The pack collectively yelled, and Meliodas winced as he realized what the implications of that statement meant. That the Demon King and Supreme Deity, despite being supposed enemies of the worst sort, actively worked together to do this... and he realized at that moment the Commandments had no idea of any of this and what he long suspected.
"We're... gonna need snacks. And alcohol. A lot of alcohol."
Who knows? Maybe this will make the Commandments turn against the Demon King, and if they're still around, it'll probably make the rebuilding of their race and homeland easier for Zeldris as well. And make Brittania a little less at risk of being overrun by angry demons. Maybe, just this once, things might actually go well for Meliodas. Though that could just be the contentment from finally being with pack again...
Still. He dares to hope, and dares to try.
Hopefully Meliodas' plan will work. He can tell that they still care for him, and maybe he can get the commandments to turn on the demon king and side with Meliodas.
