5 Common LAX Parking Mistakes (And How to Avoid Them)
Parking at LAX can be overwhelming, especially if it’s your first time. Even seasoned travelers make mistakes that lead to unnecessary stress and extra costs. At SimplyParkLAX, we’ve seen it all, and we’re here to help! Here are the top 5 LAX parking mistakes and how you can avoid them with ease.
1. Waiting Until the Last Minute
Mistake: Not booking your parking spot in advance. Solution: Reserve your parking as soon as you book your flight. At SimplyParkLAX, we make it easy to secure your spot in minutes and even offer early booking discounts to help you save more.
2. Ignoring Shuttle Timings
Mistake: Underestimating how long it takes to get from the parking lot to your terminal. Solution: Always allow extra time for shuttle transfers. Arrive at the lot at least 30 minutes before you plan to check in at the airport.
3. Overpaying for On-Site Parking
Mistake: Choosing on-site airport parking without comparing other options. Solution: Look into off-site parking providers. They’re often more affordable and provide additional perks like free shuttles and better security.
4. Overlooking Security
Mistake: Parking in a poorly monitored or unsecured lot. Solution: Choose parking services with 24/7 security, surveillance cameras, and well-lit areas. Peace of mind is worth it!
5. Skipping the Fine Print
Mistake: Not reading the terms and conditions of your parking reservation. Solution: Pay attention to cancellation policies, extra fees, and shuttle schedules to avoid surprises.
Final Thoughts
Parking at LAX doesn’t have to be a hassle if you plan ahead and avoid these common mistakes. By booking early, prioritizing security, and choosing off-site options, you can save time, money, and stress.
If you’re looking for a reliable parking provider, SimplyParkLAX is a great option. Affordable, secure, and convenient—we take the guesswork out of parking so you can focus on your trip.
Safe travels!

sometimes i feel like how i am just makes more sense. how do you think the world would be different if everyone "had aspd" (but in this world, it would just be being normal)?
Hmmmm.... Damn I'm really unmasked right now so this is probably the most honest answer I could give you (based on my opinion of course, none of this is fact and for all intents and purposes this answer is entertainment value only not educational bc who knows if I'll agree with myself once we find wherever that mask is hiding).
First and foremost, society is kind of gone in this case. Or reverted, I guess. That's a major point with ASPD is that we didn't develop the way everyone else did to be a part of society, desire to be around people, fear people disliking us (because in the wild that could mean dy*ng), etc. We still have the understanding of the need to congregate and therefore would likely still have settlements nearby, but I'm guessing everything would be a lot more spread out. I'm sure there are plenty of pwASPD who don't feel this way, but all the pwASPD I know personally hate the concept of neighbors that can perceive them while standing in their own yard or worse their own house. So firstly I think that houses would likely be further away, and that things like trailer parks and apartments would be significantly less common.
I also think that laws surrounding where you can build a house and the safety stuff involved like permits would be more lax - leaning towards a "if you didn't do it right, you'll be the one to have to deal with it" mentality, and in that I think more people would be housed but probably significantly less safely. I don't think this would extend to things like basic building stability and electricity and such, because that would cause issues for more than just the idiot who didn't do their research, but for things like lead paint, proper insulation, and such like that.
In general, probably a lot of things would lean that way - with more overall protections for people because we A.) don't like to hear people complain and will sooner do the right thing to shut them up than continue to allow their whining in a lot of cases and B.) we understand that the entire purpose of humans living near each other is to help and C.) in a world where ASPD was the norm we know that if I (general I) don't help you (general you) when you need it, there will be no empathy or anything making them feel bad if you don't help when *I* need it. Everyone takes what they need and gives what they need and I doubt people would bother to abuse the system because we are smart enough to know that gaming the system is actually screwing all of us over bc now when people need help that isn't there, they will have no qualms about coming to the house of the person who stole all the resources for themself and asking what that person intends to do to fix the problem they made.
See, a lot of the reason that pwASPD who manage to go on to be your high-profile wealthy CEOs do that is because it's easier for them than a prosocial. Stepping on people to get to the top, knowing that those people will likely barely see it as you doing something wrong. They feel for you and they understand you were taught greed and all that, so they're easy to manipulate. Give them a bonus check that doesn't even bother a percentage of your profits every year around the holidays and you're considered a great boss doing better than most. Let them call out every once in a while and only give them a little heat about it and they'll worship you because it's better than most of what's out there.
But other pwASPD see through that, so I don't think hyper-selfish people with ASPD would manage to thrive in this type of "society" the way they do with a majority prosocial one.
I think that we'd also help to establish better things for people with ASPD - more stuff like wreck rooms and such - that allow for the easing of those symptoms without breaking your sh*t or hurting anyone, while also getting rid of laws that are, well, stupid in our eyes and help decrease the annoyance that causes our symptoms to flare in the first place. You're stealing baby formula? Go at it. I don't care. If we notice because you're stealing a bunch of shit then you did a shit job of stealing and then there's probably consequences. Maybe. If the dude on shift feels like dealing with it.
I think only the big things would continue being illegal by any degree, and I think the system would probably be much more collective rather than things like managers, politicians, etc. We're not a fan of people telling us what to do more often than not, so I think all of us having a turn would be the way it would work. I think most everything would go to majority vote.
I honestly wonder if money would even survive in a world entirely set up by pwASPD or if we'd just make all the transactions by association like the old barter system. People say that the reason we can't go back to that in today's world is because we wouldn't be able to decide what services were worth what other services but that kind of removes the point of the barter system in the first place. It's not about the services having a "value" it's literally just about "I need this and you have it, you need that and I have it, let's trade". This is already how we view our relationships - not caring if the give and take is equal as long as we both are walking away cool with it - so it makes sense we'd extend that to a general rule.
In a weird way I just feel like we'd be less connected but more collaborative. No I don't want to have small talk but I do have bread I'm willing to give to someone who can get me antibiotics. And no one would take offense to that because *none* of us want to do the small talk.
Plenty of pwASPD do enjoy friendships and relationships and so I think in those cases, you'd see people who want that finding that and people who don't just not participating.
I don't think everything would change, because to a degree there is some ASPD influence in how things work atm, but it's a prosocial lens on it even for the things that have that influence.
There is also the solid possibility that it could just be anarchy tho :/ It depends because honestly all of this is coming from the place of "us all developing ASPD knowing what the world is like now and what isn't working" but if it wasn't like that who really knows what would happen. (apparently my use of emoji means that sentence has to be in bold on this font)
I refuse to re-read and edit this rn and I won't want to do it later so RIP if this is a mess of a post to read or contradicts itself, etc. But I promise I do care about this blog and the content on it/gen - the reason why I'm being selective about which asks I'm willing to do while in this state - I'm just impaired by the low mood stabilizer levels so I'm honestly worse than just unmasked rn. I appreciate you responding - prior to working in a major theme park I was very trusting in ride safety too.
But I can't stress enough how parks (both major and minor) will push safety to the limit in order to maintain appearances. And it doesn't have to kill you - minor injuries are still worth avoiding.
At the park I worked at, we had multiple rides that were not designed to be outside - we operated in what was essentially a concrete bowl in the tropics with frequent high temperatures and storms. The rides would malfunction after rain, in humidity and frequently burned guests and staff; on site mechanics were trying to patch up issues that the ride was never supposed to get in the first place. The emergency stop on one ride would suspend riders upside down for five minutes.
None of this was available to the public.
One children's ride I operated would frequently burn children. I would report this to management and every time I was told to keep operating. Parents wouldn't report to first aid (they wanted to get the most out of their day) and the park never recorded these burns.
People will get whiplash, head injuries, bruises, cuts - but most won't want to waste time in First Aid. These injuries don't get reported.
When they bought in new rides, some that had had accidents occur at their previous homes, they were repainted, remodeled and rebranded. Guests wouldn't be aware they were riding something that had previously given concussions and lacerations at other parks.
There's also staffing. By law, operators shouldn't be intoxicated, injured or too tired, else they risk increased human error. But testing was lax, and staff were frequently injured working the rides - management were aware and kept them working. We often worked 12hr days and up to 11 days in a row with 50min break a day (technically illegal in that state but there was a 'special arrangement' due to the tourism value of the park) - we were exhausted and we still worked.
I passed out operating a ride - trapping 40 guests on a 5 tonne machine that no longer had an operator in control.
A few months before I started, a new rule was implemented that operaters had to be 18+. This was because at the neighbouring park - four minutes drive away - had an incident where four people were killed on a water ride operated by a 17yr. It wasn't operator error - the ride hadn't been maintained properly - but they tried to blame her. Court ruled that she couldn't be held responsible. So every park changed the rules - not to protect guests, but because they couldn't sue a teenager.
This was at the 'best' Park in the country - the rival park was also top tier. Both have deals with big film IPs. I had colleagues who had worked Disney Florida, Six Flags in California, Thorpe Park in the UK. None of this was unique.
Theme parks are a business and the millionaire owners will cut corners to keep profits up. And change only happens when people get hurt.
(All my love forever to the First Aid team - the real backbone of any theme park!)
i’ve seen a lot of really messed up images in my time on the internet, weird fetish shit, even a few IRL gore images but nothing. NOTHING evokes such a deep seated, gut wrenching fear in me like this image of the fucking water slide from Action Park with the loop in it

Money Laundering In The Australian Property Sector
It continues unabated despite the promises of a Labor government – money laundering in the Australian property sector. Legions of accountants, lawyers, and real estate agents gladly take overseas money from ill defined sources for property deals around Australia. The recent frenzy of high end real estate purchases from Chinese investors in Melbourne and Sydney highlights this. Australia, with its tax free status on the family home, has become a haven for those wishing to stash millions of dollars in this way. Lax laws around identifying the sources of the funds being funnelled into property investment makes this an attractive bolthole for dodgy money. “The use of real estate is an established method of money laundering internationally (1). Criminals buy high-value goods such as real estate as a way of laundering or concealing illicit funds. AUSTRAC has identified high-value goods, including real estate, to be a significant money laundering channel in Australia (2). Asset confiscation cases show the breadth of criminal investment in high-value goods and the scale of criminal wealth that can be laundered and invested this way.” - (https://www.austrac.gov.au/business/how-comply-guidance-and-resources/guidance-resources/strategic-analysis-brief-money-laundering-through-real-estate-2015) Photo by Nextvoyage on Pexels.com
Dirty Money Driving Property Prices In Australia
This is driving up the property prices in the capital cities and doing likewise to rents. The Australian property market has become a no go zone for timid governments and politicians, it seems. The runaway inflation fanning sector is at the heart of the domestic economy. There are so many vested interests with their snouts in the trough that timid governments like the current batch are loath to touch it in any meaningful way. Of course, there should be limits on how much tax free money you can have tied up in the family home. How about a $5 million cap? “Real estate agents, accountants and lawyers are ready to go to war with the Albanese government over a planned expansion of dirty money laws, strongly resisting moves to extend reporting obligations they say threaten client confidentiality. Australia is among a handful of countries that do not include property, law, tax professionals and precious metal dealers in anti-money laundering protections, and consultation on changes has been under way for months.” - (https://www.afr.com/politics/federal/lawyers-realtors-prepare-for-war-against-dirty-money-crackdown-20231113-p5ejfv) Confidentiality Giving Criminals Cover In Australia The government tells us that it is still in the consultative phase with stake holders in regard to tightening up money laundering laws in the property sector. This has been going on for a number of years, enough is enough, get on with it please. We are already in a housing crisis and the government seems unable to recognise this. Perhaps, the fact that most of its members are landlords and property owners may have something to do with it. There seems to be a reluctance to take bold action. Big Bust Reveals Massive Money Laundering In Property Sector “This is what the Australian Federal Police allege had been going on for years, casting a fresh spotlight on a potential gaping hole in Australia's anti-money-laundering monitoring — real estate agents, lawyers and accountants, none of whom are obliged to report suspicious transactions. t will be alleged in court the syndicate laundered $150 million in its own profits, gained from the movement of cash between 2018 and 2022. Aside from a large collection of luxury goods and cars, it parked the allegedly illicit funds in a prized property portfolio, including 20 addresses across Sydney — with two homes in the eastern suburbs worth a combined $19 million alone — and a $47 million block of land near the future Western Sydney Airport.” - (https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-02-03/afp-money-laundering-bust-highlights-real-estate-vulnerability/101923160) Australia is lax about a lot of things. 10 years of a Coalition government saw growth in transparency lacking arrangements across the board. The slashing of the Australian public service and funnelling billions to private consultants was a major part of this. The PwC tax dodge was just the tip of the ice berg. Robodebt was a horrendous example of the lack of sunlight exposing illegal government activities, which cost lives and $1.8 billion in a settled class action. The Australian property sector has grown bloated on dark money. The accountants, lawyers, and real estate agents feed on the fees extracted from this unmonitored flow of funds from God knows where. Terrorists, bikies, drug dealers, Chinese spies, and paedophile rings are all into money laundering. Those making money from facilitating this money laundering are complicit in the crime. It is time we put a stop to this and stopped being an international joke on this score. Australia the welcoming home of white collar crime! Taxis are a popular choice for travelers who value convenience and privacy. However, it's important to note that taxi fares in Los Angeles can be relatively high, and traffic conditions can impact travel time, especially during peak hours.
3. Ride-Sharing Services
Ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft have become increasingly popular choices for airport transportation. These services provide an efficient and cost-effective way to get from LAX to your destination. Travelers can request a ride through a mobile app, and drivers arrive promptly for pick-up. Ride-sharing services often offer various vehicle options, including standard rides, luxury cars, and larger vehicles for groups.
4. Private Car Services
For a more premium and personalized airport transportation experience, consider booking a private car service. These services provide a dedicated vehicle and driver to meet you at the airport and take you to your destination. They offer a high level of comfort, convenience, and often include amenities such as Wi-Fi, bottled water, and a meet-and-greet service. Private car services are popular among business travelers and those seeking a more luxurious travel experience.
5. Airport Express Buses
Airport express buses are an affordable and convenient option for traveling from LAX to various parts of Los Angeles. These buses operate on specific routes and provide comfortable seating, air conditioning, and Wi-Fi, making them an excellent choice for travelers looking for a budget-friendly and efficient way to reach their destination. They serve various locations, including downtown Los Angeles, Hollywood, and more.
6. Rental Cars
For travelers who prefer the freedom and flexibility of having their vehicle, rental cars are widely available at LAX. Rental car agencies have counters in the airport terminals, and you can choose from a range of vehicle options to suit your needs. Renting a car allows you to explore Los Angeles and its surrounding areas at your own pace, but it's important to consider factors like parking and traffic when making this choice.
7. Public Transportation
Los Angeles has a public transportation system that includes buses and trains, making it possible to use public transit for airport transportation. The LAX FlyAway bus, for example, offers direct services to various locations in the city, including Union Station and Westwood. The Metro Green Line also connects LAX to other parts of the city. While public transportation is often more affordable, it may require transfers and can take longer than other options.
8. Shared-Ride Vans
Shared-ride vans are another group transportation option for getting from LAX to your destination. These vans, often operated by private companies, can accommodate multiple passengers traveling to different destinations. They are a cost-effective choice for small groups or individuals looking to share the cost of transportation. Shared-ride vans can be reserved in advance or found at designated pickup locations at LAX.
9. Hotel Shuttles
Many hotels in Los Angeles offer complimentary shuttle services to and from LAX for their guests. If you're staying at a hotel near the airport, it's worth inquiring about the availability of a hotel shuttle. These shuttles are convenient and can save you the hassle and expense of arranging separate airport transportation.
10. Limousine Services
For those seeking a luxurious and stylish arrival, limousine services are an option worth considering. Limo services offer a premium travel experience with well-appointed vehicles and professional chauffeurs. Whether you're traveling for a special occasion, a business event, or simply want to arrive in style, a limousine can provide a memorable and comfortable journey.
Conclusion
Efficient airport transportation is a vital component of a smooth and stress-free travel experience in Los Angeles. With a variety of options available at LAX, travelers can choose the mode of transportation that best suits their needs, preferences, and budget. From cost-effective choices like airport shuttles and shared-ride vans to the convenience of taxis and ride-sharing services, Los Angeles offers an array of transportation options to ensure you reach your destination safely and comfortably.
Ultimately, the choice of airport transportation in LA depends on factors such as your group size, destination, budget, and personal preferences. Whether you prioritize convenience, privacy, or luxury, there's a transportation solution that caters to your needs. The key is to plan ahead, consider your options, and select the mode of transportation that aligns with your travel goals. Regardless of your choice, Los Angeles welcomes you with a wealth of attractions and experiences waiting to be explored.

Navigating this vast city can be a daunting task, especially for visitors. Choosing the right Los Angeles transportation service is crucial to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience in LA. In this comprehensive guide, we will explore various transportation options and help you make informed decisions to travel smart in the City of Angels.

1. Public Transportation:
Los Angeles has an extensive public transportation system, managed by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro). Public transportation is a cost-effective and eco-friendly way to explore the city.
Buses: Metro buses operate on a vast network of routes, connecting different neighborhoods and landmarks throughout LA. They are a budget-friendly option with frequent schedules and stops at major attractions.
Metro Rail: The Metro Rail system comprises several lines, including the Red, Purple, Blue, and Expo lines, which serve various parts of the city. It provides a convenient way to travel between neighborhoods and key destinations.
Ticketing: To use Metro services, you can purchase TAP cards, offering discounted fares and the option to load value or purchase daily/weekly passes for unlimited rides.
2. Ridesharing Services:
Ridesharing services like Uber and Lyft have gained immense popularity in Los Angeles, offering convenience and flexibility for travelers.
Availability: Ridesharing services operate 24/7 in most areas of LA, ensuring you can access a ride at any time, whether it's for a late-night adventure or an early-morning meeting.
Cost: While ridesharing can be more expensive than public transportation, it provides a comfortable and door-to-door service that can be worth the cost, especially for groups or those with luggage.
Safety: Both Uber and Lyft prioritize passenger safety, with driver background checks and trip tracking features ensuring a secure journey.
3. Taxis:
Traditional taxis are still a prevalent mode of transportation in Los Angeles. You can hail a taxi on the street, find them at designated taxi stands, or use taxi-hailing apps.
Regulation: Taxis in Los Angeles are regulated by the city, ensuring standard pricing and safety measures.
Accessibility: Taxis are readily available at popular tourist destinations, airports, and hotels, making them a convenient choice for travelers.
4. Renting a Car:
For travelers seeking independence and flexibility, renting a car is a viable option. Rental car agencies are plentiful at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and throughout the city.
Variety: Rental car agencies offer a wide range of vehicle types, from compact cars to SUVs and luxury cars, depending on your preferences and travel needs.
Parking Considerations: Keep in mind that parking in LA can be challenging and expensive, especially in high-traffic areas like downtown and Hollywood. Many hotels charge additional fees for parking, so factor this into your budget.
5. Biking and Scooters:
For eco-conscious travelers or those looking for a unique way to explore the city, consider renting a bicycle or an electric scooter. Companies like Bird and Lime offer electric scooters that you can unlock and ride using a smartphone app.
Bike Lanes: Los Angeles has been actively expanding its network of bike lanes and bike-sharing programs, making it increasingly bike-friendly.
Scooter Availability: Electric scooters provide a convenient way to cover short distances within neighborhoods. They are user-friendly and can add a sense of adventure to your LA experience.
6. Airport Transportation:
Efficient transportation to and from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is a crucial part of any traveler's journey.
Shuttles: Many hotels offer complimentary shuttle services to and from LAX, ensuring a seamless transition to your accommodations.
Airport Express Buses: Several bus routes connect LAX to various parts of the city, providing a cost-effective transportation option.
Rental Cars: Rental car agencies at the airport offer the convenience of picking up your vehicle upon arrival.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, traveling smart in Los Angeles involves understanding and utilizing the transportation options available. Public transportation, including buses and Metro Rail, offers an economical and eco-friendly way to explore the city. Ridesharing services like Uber and Lyft provide convenience and accessibility, while traditional taxis remain a reliable choice. Renting a car offers flexibility but requires careful consideration of parking logistics. Biking and scooters present a fun and eco-conscious way to discover LA's neighborhoods. Lastly, planning transportation to and from the airport is crucial to ensuring a smooth travel experience.
By selecting the right transportation service based on your preferences, budget, and travel itinerary, you can navigate Los Angeles with ease and make the most of your visit to this dynamic and diverse city. Whether you're in LA for business or leisure, the city's transportation options allow you to travel smart and experience all that this iconic destination has to offer.

Notice: Thank you for noticing this notice…
Lately I have been noticing myself more often.
When I say that I guess I mean I’ve been more conscious of myself, but I’m not sure if that’s really the right word. It’s not really a “becoming aware” like being conscious is, it’s just a noticing like you notice your friend is wearing red shoes.
Not that you notice they’re wearing NEW red shoes, mind you. Just taking note of their outfit, is all.
I live in a smaller town area where Christianity is a big thing, mostly Baptist. You can imagine how conservative it is. We don’t get a lot of “alternative” kids, but when we find each other, we stick to each other. I didn’t grow up here. I grew up in a bigger city where you’d see alternative kids at least twice a day. But I was still in a very Christian and conservative environment, mostly at school (my parents were and still are very lax and not super conservative like some might think), so I got used to being the odd one out. The only one with leather jackets and battered Chucks and Docs in a sea of kids whose parents wouldn’t even let them get their ears pierced or read Harry Potter.
(And I understand “alternative” is a very broad term, I know it’s nuanced. But you get the point. Also, I don’t mean conservative in the political sense, not really; mostly just conservative values.)
Maybe two weeks ago I was walking across the street downtown, thinking about how cool I must look right now with my new leather overcoat and the platform Doctor Martens I bought off a coworker. I was on my way to see Monty Python and the Holy Grail with my cousin. Then I noticed that the people in their cars were probably watching me cross the street the way I watch pedestrians crossing the street when I’m first in the line of cars.
A couple days ago I went to Walmart. I don’t remember what I was there for, maybe some sort of office supply? Doesn’t matter. I got out of my car and saw two women leaving the store as I was walking through the parking lot. The two women didn’t say anything, I don’t even think they really looked at me, but it made me notice myself. I was wearing a new Metallica shirt, my work-in-progress patch pants, Doc Martens on my feet. I do remember that, what I was wearing. Because it made me think, “it must be so strange to these women to see a person dressed like this”.
Today I went to Target to buy Fall Out Boy’s new album and the same thing happened. Today I was wearing my jean vest (complete with pins and a mural on the back dedicated to Suicidal Tendencies’s song Institutionalized), my trusty loose black pants, two chains hanging from the belt loops, same black Doc Martens. As I passed a woman on the phone, I thought, “how often do these people see someone like myself?”
It’s not that I’m wondering if they’re judging me. I’m well past that. I got past that in 5th grade. In fact, I haven’t really gotten any nasty comments or judgmental stares thrown at me, mostly just my parents wanting me to show their friends my battle jacket.
But I’ve heard stories. The threat is always there. I just don’t care enough to heed the warning.
I’m just noticing how I look to other people. I’m the girl on the street that the older, more conservative generations (boomers) pray for, hoping I’ll find Jesus, when the reality is He found me and now we talk every night before bed.
I don’t want this to be a story about my experiences as the alt kid in a conservative circle, that’s for another post.
But I have been noticing myself lately.

Oooooh!!!! How about group 4 and the "I have food in my bag" prompt!!!!!!! 💖💖💖💖💖
YESSS anything for you Paige 💗💗💗 Someone else asked for the same prompt with Kanzaki + Kayano, so I just combined it with this one. Hope you enjoy! <3
Tumblr media
Group 4 + “I have food in my bag”
"Shit, we're running late!" Sugino swore under his breath, adjusting his grip on his bag and quickening his pace.
It was already 8:17 and they were still ten minutes away from the base of the mountain. On top of that, there was still the long trek to get up to the classroom.
"Slow down, Sugino," Kayano whined from far behind. She dragged her schoolbag onto the sidewalk tiredly. "Some of us don't have long ass legs like you!"
"Do you have to drag your bag like that?" Nagisa questioned, wincing at the scraping sound it was making. "Isn't your laptop in there?"
"Actually, I forgot it at home today."
Sugino threw his hands up in the air, exasperated. "Well, aren't we all having a great, productive day so far?"
Somehow, by a universal phenomenon that had to be the opposite of a miracle, the three of them had woken up late. And experienced various degrees of a chaotic morning that stalled their time to get to class.
Sugino had to run two blocks to pick up his mother's dry-cleaning, before getting stopped by the local kids at the park who wanted some baseball tips. It was Saturday, so not many elementary-grade kids had to go to school.
Nagisa had an emergency, no-prior-notice tutoring session with an anxious Sakura.
And Kayano's agent had come randomly earlier, imploring her to pause her break and take a once-in-a-lifetime role offer. She declined, of course. Then she went on to binge three episodes of her current k-drama, which was recommended by Ritsu. Eventually, she realized what time it was and survival instinct kicked in.
Long story short, all three had run into each other at the same time, rushing down the street to get to school.
"It's not like this happens everyday, though," Nagisa tried to comfort him. "I'm sure Korosensei will understand."
"Yeah...true."
They reached a busy intersection and were forced to stop as the light was green. The hectic morning traffic rushed in front of them, and the familiar hum of cars flying by eased Sugino's tension a little.
He wasn't really sure why he felt so stressed. Nagisa was right. Korosensei was more than likely to understand and not mark them tardy, as this was a pretty rare occurrence. Besides, a certain redhead he knew was more often absent than not.
Speaking of him... Sugino's brows furrowed when he spotted a flash of familiar red across the street, near some bushes.
Standing beside him, Kayano squinted. "Is that who I think it is?"
"If it is him, I'm not surprised he's late too," Nagisa commented dryly, taking a swig of his water bottle.
"It's probably not him," Sugino decided, impatiently willing the light to turn red already. The sun was fully risen by now and beating over his head. He felt sweat droplets start to fall down his neck and his ire increased.
It was odd to say, but Sugino actually strongly valued routine. It didn't suit his lax, easygoing and fun appearance, but a rigid routine was built into him ever since he started playing baseball. He liked some sense of predictability in his daily life.
So today, where everything was going wrong somehow, was creating a heaviness in his chest.
Finally, the crosswalk sign flashed to indicate they could start walking. Sugino basically ran across the street in relief, choosing to ignore Kayano's insults targeted towards his longer legs.
“Hey, jerk! Wait for us!”
He laughed in response and bolted down the sidewalk, acting out of pure adrenaline and annoyance. He glanced back over his shoulder to see the other two walking normally after him.
Thud!
Suddenly, ran into something and fell onto the pavement. It wasn't hard per say, but it was definitely a body.
"Oof!" The person exclaimed, more in surprise than pain.
Sugino felt his face flush, already prepared to apologize. He already began spouting off before looking up.
"Sorry about that-wait, Kanzaki?" He did a double take, surprised to see one of his closest friends right across him.
She was down on the sidewalk, as well. Her bag fell near her, but nothing spilled out. Her raven locks were tied up into a makeshift bun and the look on her face was one of both surprise and annoyance.
"Good morning to you, too, Sugino-kun," She replied dryly, standing up and dusting off her skirt. She reached a hand out to him, which he took.
"Hehe, my bad," he laughed sheepishly. "So you're late today too?" His brain scrambled to find a reason for why Kanzaki of all people was late.
She gestured to behind her. "And those two."
Karma and Okuda were crouched by the bushes, both enraptured by a book in his hands.
His other two companions finally caught up. "Ahhh, Kanzaki-san!" Kayano squealed, tackling the other girl in a hug.
"Morning, Kayano-san," Kanzaki greeted warmly, grabbing Sugino's arm for support before she fell for a second time. Her other hand gently patted Kayano's head.
Okuda scrambled up at the noise, adjusting her skirt and glasses. "Ah, good morning guys!"
"OKUDA-SAN!" Kayano did the exact same and collided with her in a frightening hug.
"Wow, so the gang's all here," Karma laughed, throwing his arms around Sugino and Nagisa.
"What the hell are you guys doing out here?" Sugino asked, a smile on his face.
Even if his routine was gone and they were most definitely late for class, he couldn't really be mad surrounded by his best friends.
"We could ask you the same," Kanzaki retorted, amused. Sugino noticed her nails were painted a bright shade of purple, likely in part to annoy her parents.
"We' all woke up late," Nagisa deadpanned, deciding to simplify it. "What about you guys?"
"Had a fun idea." Karma pulled out the book he'd been holding and handed it to Nagisa. Sugino peered over his shoulder.
It was an encyclopedia for marine animals, specifically invertebrates. Sea stars, jellies, squids, clams, crabs, etc. Nagisa flipped over to the bookmarked page, which was filled with types of sea urchins. There was one name that was highlighted.
"Toxopneustes elegans," he read aloud. "Native to Japan, and highly venomous."
Sugino looked up at them with raised eyebrows. "What are you guys planning...?" He asked reluctantly.
Karma and Kanzaki both hummed and looked away innocently. Okuda fidgeted with her hands, not in a nervous way but in a "how do I explain this without looking fucking crazy" way.
"Well, I got this book as a gift yesterday. And last night I texted Karma-kun and Kanzaki-san about the interesting species of sea urchins I didn't even knew exist!"
She tugged on one of her braids, her tone shifting to a more guilty one. "And then they had the idea of extracting its poison to use on enemies and bullies."
"KARMA WHAT THE HELL!"
"Kanzaki?! You too?"
Karma scowled at their reactions. "Obviously, we'd dilute it and mix a small portion into something, so it wouldn't be that bad."
"STILL!"
Kanzaki looked away. "Some of the bullies at the arcade deserve it!"
"Oh my god." Nagisa facepalmed.
"First of all, that's insane," Sugino cried. "Second of all, where do you even get this urchin?"
Okuda let out a breath. "That's why we're late today. We were gonna go to this street market to get it. It's not as busy in the mornings..."
"Okuda, you endorse this?!"
She threw her hands up. "If it's in the name of science, I can't disagree!" She cried.
"This is about ethics!"
"Kayano, why aren't you saying anything?" Nagisa demanded.
She shrugged, leaning her head against Karma's arm. "Eh, it's not the worst fate someone can have. And maybe some people do deserve something like that..."
"Oh, so you're crazy too."
She sighed deeply and dramatically, hugging her stomach. "I'm crazy, and I'm starving. You can't ask for my opinions on morality when I'm running on low fuel!"
"And this..." Kanzaki swung her bag off her shoulder and reached inside. "Is why I always have food in my bag."
She pulled out a rolled up paper bag, crumpled from being stuffed inside and handed it to Kayano. The actress opened it up, her face lighting up at the sight of fresh gourmet pastries.
"Kanzaki, you're an angel," Kayano wept, digging into a croissant.
"It's for everyone, so make sure you share." The bag was passed around and everyone was eventually sitting on the sidewalk, enjoying them.
"Aww, thanks Kanzaki-san."
"Man, what would we do without you?"
The flaky dough instantly melted in Sugino's mouth. The combination of that and the buttery flavor almost sent him to heaven right there.
"Don't think this means you can still poison people with sea urchins though," he quickly added.
Kanzaki pouted while Karma huffed a sigh. "Fine," they conceded simultaneously.
Kayano was laying on the ground, her head resting on a bunched up sweater as she devoured her second cinnamon roll. She reached a hand over to them. "It's okay, I supported your plan."
Karma took it, amused. "Thanks, Kayano-chan. You really get me."
"Kanzaki, are these from that new fancy French place?" Nagisa asked, chewing on his cheese Danish. "The one that just opened up?"
"Yup." She was already done with her own, and was playing with the small flower buds that grew on the bush.
"Wow, we're so lucky to have a kind, generous rich friend like you," Sugino joked. "We get the high quality snacks."
"Hello? I'm here too," Karma spoke up.
Sugino smirked. "I said, a kind and generous rich friend."
"You know what, screw yo-"

My Name
September 2020
Elena’s Masterlist
Tumblr media
Netflix’s upcoming drama “My Name” has just released its official cast list!
Earlier today, Netflix released to the public the confirmed cast list to it’s new up and coming drama “My Name”. It’s no surprise that we saw big names from the industry on the list such as: Ahn Bo Hyun, Park Hee Soon, Kim Sang Ho, and the most unexpected of the names, Elena Bae, the sole female member of the 9 member idol group ATEEZ.
Many netizens were shocked at the revelation of the idol joining the cast. However, most netizens were shocked at the fact that the idol will be taking on the lead role in the upcoming drama. Though, this is not the first, and hopefully not the last, time we will see lead actor Elena.
The Netflix drama “My Name” is set to air in late 2021 and shooting is set to take place later this year. Fans of the idol are concerned over the fact that the idol just finished a long and tedious promotion period for ATEEZ’s ZERO: FEVER Pt. 1 album. The group promoting two separate tracks, INCEPTION and THANXX.
At the release of the news, many fans began questioning the health and well being of the idol. They went on to claim that there will be little to no time for her to fully rest up for the upcoming project in the midst of her packed schedule. In response to this, KQ Entertainment also released a statement today. In that statement, they assure fans that Elena will be granted a resting period before she begins shooting for the drama later this year.
‘In regards to our artist, Elena, we would like to clarify that now that the promotional period for ATEEZ is over she will be getting more rest with her lax schedule. If we, or the artist herself, had felt as though her workload was overwhelming enough, we would not have accepted the role. We value and prioritize our artists’ health and we will be checking in to ensure that she is well throughout the entire process.’
The company did not stop there. They also stated how excited Elena is to go in a completely new direction with this role.
‘Our artist is extremely thankful and beyond excited for this opportunity in her career. She is ready to showcase a new depth to her abilities for her supportive fans through this role. We hope that ATINY can continue to follow, support, and love our artist through everything.’
Comment below and let us know your thoughts on the news! While you wait for “My Name”, check out Elena in ATEEZ’s most recent music video “THANXX”.

KUWAIT CITY — It all started over yoga.
When an instructor in Kuwait this month advertised a desert wellness yoga retreat, conservatives declared it an assault on Islam. Lawmakers and clerics thundered about the "danger" and depravity of women doing the lotus position and downward dog in public, ultimately persuading authorities to ban the trip.
The yoga ruckus represented just the latest flashpoint in a long-running culture war over women's behavior in the sheikhdom, where tribes and Islamists wield growing power over a divided society. Increasingly, conservative politicians push back against a burgeoning feminist movement and what they see as an unraveling of Kuwait's traditional values amid deep governmental dysfunction on major issues.
"Our state is backsliding and regressing at a rate that we haven't seen before," feminist activist Najeeba Hayat recently told The Associated Press from the grassy sit-in area outside Kuwait's parliament. Women were pouring into the park along the palm-studded strand, chanting into the chilly night air for freedoms they say authorities have steadily stifled.
For Kuwaitis, it's an unsettling trend in a country that once prided itself on its progressivism compared to its Gulf Arab neighbors.
In recent years, however, women have made strides across the conservative Arabian Peninsula. In long-insular Saudi Arabia, women have won greater freedoms under de-facto leader Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
MIDDLE EAST Kuwaiti trans woman got 2 years in prison for 'impersonating the opposite sex'
Saudi Arabia even hosted its first open-air yoga festival last month, something Kuwaitis noted with irony on social media.
"The hostile movement against women in Kuwait was always insidious and invisible but now it's risen to the surface," said Alanoud Alsharekh, a women's rights activist who founded Abolish 153, a group that aims to eliminate an article of the country's penal code that sets out lax punishments for the so-called honor killings of women. "It's spilled into our personal freedoms."
Just in the past few months, Kuwaiti authorities shut down a popular gym hosting belly dance classes. Clerics demanded police apprehend the organizers of a different women's retreat called "The Divine Feminine," citing blasphemy. Kuwait's top court will soon hear a case arguing the government should ban Netflix amid an uproar over the first Arabic-language film the platform produced.
Hamdan al-Azmi, a conservative Islamist, has led the tirade against yoga, accusing outsiders of trampling on Arab heritage and bemoaning the aerobic exercise as a cultural travesty.
"If defending the daughters of Kuwait is backward, I am honored to be called it," he said.
The string of religiously motivated decisions has touched off sustained outrage among Kuwaiti women at a time in which not a single one sits in the elected parliament and gruesome cases of so-called honor killings have gripped the public.
In one such case, a Kuwaiti woman named Farah Akbar was dragged from her car last spring and stabbed to death by a man released on bail against whom she had lodged multiple police complaints.
The outcry over Akbar's killing pushed parliament to draft a law that would, after years of campaigning, eliminate Article 153. The article says that a man who catches his wife committing adultery or his female relative engaged in any sort of "illicit" sex and kills her faces at most three years in prison. There also can be just a $46 fine.
Tumblr media
But when it came time to consider the article's abolition, Kuwait's all-male parliamentary committee on women's issues took an unprecedented step. It turned to the state's Islamic clerics for a fatwa, or non-binding religious ruling, about the article.
The clerics ruled last month that the law be upheld.
"Most of these members of parliament come from a system in which honor killings are normal," said Sundus Hussain, another founding member of the Abolish 153 group.
After Kuwait's 2020 elections, there was a marked increase in the influence of conservative Islamists and tribal members, Hussein added.
Before activists could absorb the blow, authorities called on clerics to answer a new query: Should women be allowed to join the army?
The Defense Ministry had declared they could enlist last fall, fulfilling a long-standing demand.
But clerics disagreed. Women, they decreed last month, may only join in non-combat roles if they wear an Islamic headscarf and get permission from a male guardian.
The decision shocked and appalled Kuwaitis accustomed to government indifference to whether women cover their hair.
"Why would the government consult religious authorities? It's clearly one way in which the government is trying to appease conservatives and please parliament," said Dalal al-Fares, a gender studies expert at Kuwait University. "Clamping down on women's issues is the easiest way to say they're defending national honor."
Apart from the defense of what social conservatives consider women's honor, there is little on which Kuwait's emir-appointed Cabinet and elected parliament can agree. An anguished stalemate has paralyzed all efforts to fix a record budget deficit and pass badly needed economic reforms.
Nearly two years after parliament passed a domestic violence protection law, there are no government women's shelters or services for abuse victims. Violence against women has only increased during the pandemic lockdown.
Tumblr media
"We need a complete overhaul to address the flaws of our legal system when it comes to the protection of women," said lawmaker Abdulaziz al-Saqabi, who's now drafting Kuwait's first gender-based violence law. "We are dealing with an irresponsible — and unstable — system that makes any reform almost impossible."
Some advocates attribute the conservative backlash to a sense of panic that society is changing. A year ago, activists launched a groundbreaking #MeToo movement to denounce harassment and violence against women. Hundreds of reports poured into the campaign's Instagram account with harrowing accusations of assault, creating a profound shift in Kuwaiti discourse.
Organizers in recent months have struggled to sustain the momentum as they themselves have faced rape and death threats.
"The toll it took was massive. We became immediate clickbait. We couldn't go out in public without being constantly stopped and constantly harassed," said Hayat, who helped create the movement last year.
Hayat has little faith in the government to change anything for Kuwait's women. But she said that's no reason to give up.
"If there's a protest, I'm going to show up. If there's someone who needs convincing, I'm going to try," she said, while women around her pumped their fists and held signs aloft.

they won't hurt you anymore (as long as you can let them go)
5k, t-rated, angst

You don’t know how you get to talking about it, talking about her, Anna. Your brain is all foggy from orgasms, your body strung out and lax, ready to pass out if only you could drag yourself across the bed, curl under the covers with Eve. But it’s just a bit too warm in the room to go straight to cuddling, the breeze coming in through the window barely has a hint of coolness from the water. You were right, you should have gotten the flat closer to the beach, regardless of the traffic, but you don’t tell her that, not again.
“Well,” Eve says and you can already tell from the tone she’s about to say something you won’t like; there’s a certain cadence to her when she does, you both know it, but she doesn’t stop herself. “She did take advantage of you.”
It gives you pause. That’s not what you thought she was going to say. You scoff. “I was fifteen.”
Eve’s staring at you, you can feel it hot all the way up your spine but it’s not the good, rippling kind of heat that makes you want to roll over and spend another few hours drowning in her. No, it’s the kind of heat that drives you up at the crack of dawn to run circles in the park, the kind that usually precepts a snapping fight that lands one of you on the couch until you hate fuck against the bathroom door only to complain about the number both did on your back, because you’re old now.
You chance a look at her and it’s- not what you expected.
She’s not cocky or condescending or jealous or annoyed, all things you’ve come to expect when Anna comes up. Her eyes are soft, her chin tilted down towards you, her fingers twitching with just a hair of anxiety. She bites her lip before she speaks, “Ville, you were a kid.”
Your brows twist into a frown. “I was fifteen,” you repeat. Somehow you think the words mean something different to her than they do to you. “The age of consent in Russia is sixteen, I was four months away the first time we had sex.”
You stare at Eve but she’s still got that face on, you know what it means – sad, hurt, pitying, but trying not to, it’s the face she looks at the scrawny cat that lives in the back alley with, the one she thinks you don’t know she feeds, but you do know she feeds it, you stack cans of cat food in the back of the cupboard too – but you don’t think you’ve ever seen it pointed at you before. It sits uncomfortably, the air thick in your lungs like a bathroom steamed up from a long, hot shower, wet and tacky and stifling on your skin once you put your clothes back on.
“But you were still just a kid.” She shifts, contemplating reaching out to touch you, but you see the indecision; sometimes her touch is nice when you’re having hard conversations, other times it’s abrasive. You’ve both gotten better at wading gentler into these waters over the past few months, but you know you still have learning to do.
You lay stock still on the end of the bed, one of your feet hangs into the air, knee slung over the mattress, the other jams up against the footboard. Her hip could be under your mouth with the twist of your neck, but you don’t move.
“When I was fifteen,” she continues, “I crashed my bike into a ravine trying to impress this one guy who was a senior. He still had braces.” She says it like it means anything at all, more than just a confirmation that she had terrible taste before you.
You chew on your lower lip and stare at the ceiling. You think about painting something on it, something brash and dark, screw the resale value.
“But,” you think, you breathe, it doesn’t help. “I wanted her.”
There are tears in your eyes, which is horrifying, thankfully they haven’t yet made it to your voice. You swallow hard, blink harder.
Eve does reach out then, fingers skimming through the ends of your hair, rolls closer so she can trace patterns on the bare skin of your shoulder, up your collar bone to where your breath shudders. Your eyes snap closed. It’s better that way.
You’re overreacting, you’re sure. These emotions are twisted, from somewhere else, warped into this moment. It’s the sex, you tell yourself, sometimes it still wrings you dry, spills your emotions over and Eve’s too and- it’s a lot, it’s a lot in a way that you never would have guessed five years ago.
That’s what this is.
Eve traces the familiar constellation of your freckles, touch just firm enough not to tickle, you appreciate that about her. “It’s okay, we don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to.”
You swallow it all down, nod just barely, but know she’ll see it. She kisses your shoulder, barely, just a brush of her lips, her acquiescence to drop it.
The terrible thing is, you do. You do want to talk about it, you just don’t know what to say.
