im writing a fic with smut yall ! it's a valgrace fic, and in it it's not like hardcore smut, but... well... i don't wanna ruin the surprise. i just want you to know i intend to make it more sweet than spicy.

A valgrace oneshot that I of course wrote at 1am

Summary/notes:

A short valgrace oneshot.

basically Leo get nightmare, Jason calms him down, major character death! :D

Don't ask about the timeline.

also idc that basically none of this except major character death is canon . this is fanFICTION I can do what I want.

"I think I'll miss you the most"

It was a dark, stormy, rainy night aboard the Argo 2.

Leo awoke from a nightmare, sweating, his heart beating quick. he sat up instantly. ''that's the third one this week. .'' Leo said aloud.

he tried to calm himself down, taking deep breaths like his mother, Espranza Valdez, used to tell him to do when it was thundering outside. . . just like it is now.

he managed to calm himself down. ''I wonder why I keep having these nightmares. . .'' he said.

. . .

it had been a week since Leo's last nightmare.

''hey, Pipes?'' he asked Piper Mclean. ''yeah?'' she replied. ''I've been having these nightmares recently. . . I haven't had one in a week though, luckily''

''awh'' she frowned. ''what are the nightmares like? is there any recurring theme in them?''

''yeah. there is.'' Leo shifted uncomfortably. ''that might be a sign from the gods.'' Piper mentioned. ''do you mind telling me what it is?''

''sure..'' Leo spoke. ''It's- It's Jason.''

''Jason? what about him..?'' Piper exclaimed. Leo looked up at Piper. ''in the nightmares he.. he dies.''

''he dies?!'' Piper exclaimed a little too loudly.

''yes he does, now don't be so loud. I don't want the others to hear'' Leo said. ''especially not Jason. and especially if it really is a sign from the gods like you said.''

''okay, okay. I'll try to be more quiet''

''is there a recurring way he dies..?'' Piper asked.

''yeah..'' Leo replied. ''impaled. impaled by a spear.''

'' oh ''

''yeah. . .''

''oh gods.'' Piper said. ''I hope it's not a sign from the gods..''

''so do I.'' Leo replied. ''but I have a feeling it is..''

. . .

Leo had another nightmare. the same one he keeps getting - Jason getting impaled and dying.

Leo awoke once again like he always did after that nightmare, short of breath, heart beating quick and sweating.

Leo sat up instantly like last time. his hand clutched over his heart - right where Jason would be impaled.

''that was...that was worse '' Leo said to himself aloud.

Leo was panicking more then usual though now. he knew when Jason will die, and knows he will die - there's no stopping it.

Leo started to panic more. his bestfriend was going to die.

Just then, Jason walked past and saw Leo panicking, his hand clutched over his heart.

''hey, you okay..?'' he asked in concern. ''you seem to be panicking.. quite a lot''

Jason's voice made Leo jump.

''o-oh yeah. I'm fine..'' Leo laughed nervously.

''no. no you're not, Leo.'' Jason said, concerned for his friend.

just looking at Jason's face made Leo tear up. he wouldn't see Jason's handsome face again, his death date was coming up soon.

a tear trickled down Leo's cheeks. Jason looked sympathetic for his friend.

Jason walked over to Leo's bed, sat down and held Leo in his arms.

''you wanna tell me why you're crying and panicking so much?'' Jason asked. ''It's perfectly fine if not.''

Leo contemplated wherever he should tell him or not.

''I've been having these nightmares, recently.'' Leo said. ''not just normal nightmares but.. in-'' Leo started sobbing.

Jason looked down at Leo concerningly. worried for him.

''hey, hey, It's okay, Leo'' Jason said. ''it's not like anyone is dying.'' the irony of that sentence was almost enough to make Leo laugh.

''well...'' Leo said, trying his best not to meet Jason's eyes. ''You are.''

''what?''

Leo managed to look up at Jason despite the tears in his eyes. ''you're going to die, Jase.'' ''you'll be impaled with a spear.''

''What- I-'' Jason said. ''how... how can you be sure?''

Jason looked in disbelief.

. . .

Leo sobbed in Jason's arms. Jason held Leo tightly.

''hey, Jase?'' Leo asked between the tears. ''can.. can I kiss you?'' he looked up at Jason

Jason looked surprised, he even managed to blush a bit between his own tears. ''sure..''

Leo smiled softly and leaned in closer to Jason until their nose's were touching almost.

Jason kissed him.

eventfully Leo pulled away. Jason and Leo managed to smile through the kiss.

''I think.. I think that was the best kiss I've ever had'' Jason said

''and how many kisses have you ever had?''

''..very few...''

''well at least I'm still the best''

Jason managed a weak laugh.

Leo was surprised Jason could laugh after being told he was going to die. Leo laughed too.

''I think I'll miss you the most.'' Jason said. ''obviously I'll miss everyone, Piper, Thalia, Percy, etc but.. I think I'll miss you the most.''

Leo didn't know what to say. ''I'll miss you so much, Jase'' Leo brushed Jason's cheek with the back of his hand.

then, Leo awoke.

Leo both loved and hated that dream. well... it was more of a memory.

he loved it because it reminded him of Jason. he hated it because it was only a reminder that he'd never kiss those lips again, he'd never see that face ever again, he'd never hear that warm, comforting voice, he held by those arms ever again.

Leo especially didn't need that reminder today. it was the one year anniversary of his death.

him, Piper, Thalia, Nico and Reyna are going to his grave to place some flowers by it and catch him up on everything that's happened in the past year.

I'm not the best at writing romance so sorry about that.

the ending COULD have been happy. but then I asked (idk what to refer to her as) to choose either 1 or 2. one was happiness and 2 was saddness and death. she chose 2. her response was ''BITCH NO''

it was going to be tooth rotting fluff but then after wrting like 5 words i decided on angst and then i had 2nd thoughts and then asked (BHDHFEVUFCKEBIVEVYWGHBVGKG) and then sadness and angst ensued.

People smile in different ways, Jason notices. There's happy smiles and sad smiles and anxious smiles and all kinds of different others.

He knows it's weird, knowing what each smile means for each person, but its- easier, in a way.

Percy smiles tight when exasperated Annabeth's happy smile is big and bright, anything less means she's either tired or far away Hazel smiles easily, but softer when she's truly happy Pipers smile is somehow consistent, it's how she holds her teeth Frank only smiles when he means it

Leo-

He doesn’t even know how to start with Leo

Leo is always smiling, always, like its his default setting. Leo smiles big and bright as a distraction from prying further into his past Leo remembers with a soft smile, almost unconsciously Leo's smile always has an undertone of sadness.

Leo hasn't shown up for dinner.

But its normal- he's probably just lost track of time to fiddle with something.

Which is why Jason is here, in the engine room, feeling way too big as he weaves over, under and around the various bits of equipment- pipes, turbines, etcetera, trying to find Leo He's being guided by instinct- heading for where he's guestimating Leo's favourite spot it.

There's a clang, and a string of Spanish expletives, and Jason- Jasons heart shouldn't have skipped a beat, but it does. He's definitely not thinking about the implications of the fact that he knows where Leo's favourite spot is, even when Leo hasn't even shown him. He's not thinking about any of it, because he's not here to think, he's here to get Leo to eat something for once in a while.

"Leo?"

Another Spanish expletive. A clang, This time the swearing is not in Spanish.

Jason tries very hard not to laugh, but when Leo's head pops up unexpectedly from behind the massive pipe, looking frazzled, Jason loses it. There's a pause, then Leo's laugh is joining his own, and Leo scrambles around the pipe to stand beside Jason as their laughs calm down to giggles  and then to comfortable silence.

"What'cha here for, Supes? To laugh at me or do you need something fixed"

Jason reaches over and pokes Leo's head

"Yeah. I need you to fix your internal clock. You missed dinner, Fireboy" "I never should have showed you that game" "You love it"

Silence. Slightly more awkward.

Then Leo's smiling again, big and bright- the one he hides behind.

The one only used in this kind of situation.

Around Jason.

Jason ignores that thought, and turns his attention back to Leo, who's rattling on about engines or something- an excuse, most likely, so he responds in kind.

"Yeah, yeah, just get to the kitchen, Valdez. C'mon, I'll race you"

It's a distraction, and they both know it.

A distraction from whatever- this is.

Leo takes him up on that, and they race through the ship until they're at the dining hall out of breath, giggling again.

When they enter the room, Jason takes everyone's expressions in quick.

Piper, smiling in a ooh, there's some gossip way Hazel, with a soft, entertained smile Percy, with his hey, it's my bros! expressive smile

Annabeth, with no smile, but her lips are twitching, unsure whether to smile or frown Frank, not paying attention to them.

Coach Hedge absent from the room, probably on patrol.

Leo's smile strains, shrinks a little. Embarrassed.

Jason's watched Leo's smiles, every one of them.

He knows them, like he knows his own.

And still, Leo surprises him with different ones.

Jason doesn’t think he'll ever finish figuring out Leo's smiles.

That’s okay.

It means theres a reason, however small, to stick around. It'll never be his official one, obviously, maybe, probably. But it'll be one. One for himself, if not for anyone else.

EVERYBODY STOP SCROLLING I HAD A THOUGHT-

“What is it you wanted to talk to me about?” Piper asked

Jason and Leo looked at each other, nervously.

“Well… we’ve decided,” Jason said.

“We wanna have kids,” Leo explained.

Piper gasped, “Oh my gods, you guys!!! That’s amazing!!”

“And there are ways of doing that, too,” Leo continued, “Divine intervention, godly conception, all that Jazz. And we talked to the Gods-“

“Leo was amazing,” Jason butted in, “He was all “Hera you owe both me and Jason so many favours, and considering the fact that I vaporised your grandma in a matter of seconds you better grant us some!””

Leo grinned, “And basically, it took a while but-“

“They approved our request!” Jason finished.

Piper jumped up and down. She went to hug them, but Jason put a hand out to stop her, “That’s not what we wanted to talk about, though… you see… the thing is…”

“Technical magicky stuff,” Leo said, “We can conceive a baby, but we need a… uterus to grow it in. A surrogate… and, well…”

He trailed off. Piper was speechless, she stood there, her hand over her mouth for several seconds.

“…So will you do it?” Jason asked, hopefully.

Piper punched him in the arm, “Of course I’ll freaking do it!!” She squealed and hugged them both, tightly.

“WE’RE GONNA START A FAMILY!!!” She yelled. Unable to contain his excitement, the three of them jumped up and down. Leo whooped. Jason cried a little bit.

Everything was perfect.

i kinda feel like writing valgrace angst. like its just 4k words of them two being sad. imagine, both leo and jason get 2k words where they just want each other to be girls. leo starts in the beginning which starts the beginning of jasons new life and jason ends the story with his life ending, thus ending their story. but for leo, his story continues just without jason.

(leo wishes jason was girl so he could love him with no fear of being disgusting. jason wishes leo was a girl so he can love him back the same way leo loves him)

i just felt a bit silly
