Idea log #7

So switched at birth Raven and Apple…

Doesn’t mean their destinies are switched!

Rewriting Ever After High and I just had an epiphany. The beginning would start out quite like normal, but I wanted to include more hints towards their actual destinies.

Like Raven minding her own business and going down the path she wants, only to be hounded by Apple’s “schemes”.

As Controlling and manipulative as Apple is, she isn’t evil-evil. She’s a product of her enviorment, the adults around her pushing her towards making choices. I want that much to be obvious BUT I also want Apple to dabble in too much for her to be entirely “good”.

One change would be to “turn” rebels back to the good side (against Raven). Cerise (acting as Raven’s woodsman) would be momentarily swayed by Apple’s suspicions as to why Cerise isn’t with the royals. She gets scared.

But ultimately she stays loyal to Raven, even if it means her secret gets out.

I just remembered Apple’s obsession with that vainity-mirror, wtf that’s like perfect. Mirror mirror on the wall and all of that.

Anyways, subtle things.

But one of the more sadder things I’m adding is that, Raven and Dexter might not be end game. Not because I hate the ship or anything, on the contrary I love how much Dexter cares for Raven. (Like Cupid)

But at the end of Wonderland’s arc, the storybook of legends no longer binds anyone who doesn’t want to follow through with their story. The powers go back to them sure but it’s not necessary for the story to play out really.

Raven never wanted to be the Evil Queen. I doubt she wants to play as Snow White either. Thus, Dexter doesn’t really have a place to be Raven’s Prince Charming, especially now that Destiny isn’t binding them. I’m not saying they stop loving each other, but I don’t think they should end up together. At least not in this story and not with how I set it up.

(Also the whole love triangle with Cupid, I love the theory that she loves both of them because of their love for one another, and is envious because she doesn’t get to fall in love. Love isn’t just romance either so it still fits even after wonderland.)

That's exactly his fear. Idky anyone would fear aging, you either age or you die, theres no other options. But usually ppl fear aging due to vainity and fear of responsibility as well, two things that he has trouble with.

Almost all the villains in modern Kirby are just regular people driven to the absolute darkest depths of insanity in triple deluxe; it was vainity and perfectionism in return to dreamland its greed and in forgotten land the guy was expermentined on by an unknow race for presumably a long time and then left to rot. Kirby had no choice but to put them down. Are you seriously telling me he's not gonna feel sorry for a guy who got his soul deleted because he wanted to see his daughter again!?

For a female Beast, maybe it wasn't an enchantress but an enchanter approaching her as a potential suitor. Not the greatest looking suitor offering her a single rose. And because of her vainity she turns him away instantly without a moment of consideration.

I like the idea! I am starting to think that maybe vanity isn't the shout though; as it currently is, if her curse was done because she turned down a suitor, it would imply that she shouldn't have turned his attempt to court her down. She can be vain, but that being the reason she turned may not work like I initially thought.

Hm... the original thing of selfishness and cruelty could still be a thing? Greed even? Maybe she was a noble with high standing who took and took and took, and when a lowly old peasant father, haggard and limping with a cane came to her court begging for help. When she demanded he trade her something in return and he offered a rose, she could turn him away then and thats what prompts him to show himself as an enchanter to put the curse on her?

Alternatively, honestly the original fairytale could still work fine 🤔

I watched the boy and the heron today and I don't think I ever saw such a beautiful well thought out movie that had no logical plot. It's using the basic heros journey archetype and that's kinda the only thing driving the plot, no idea what the powerful rock thing was about, no idea what the herons magic rules are, can't tell if the timeline makes sense or is gonna ruin my brain, the parakeets are genuinely nightmare fuel, I am going to dream about them and I'm gonna dream about my bird turning into them and murdering me.

I don't think the movie makes any sense, my dad said they interviewed Hayao Miyazaki the director and writer for the film and he said he didn't understand it either. It feels like a fever dream and it feels like a world that is as thoroughly developed and nuanced as ours but also I can't compherehend it. WHAT WAS THE ROCK ABOUT AND WHY IS THERE A METEOR FALLING FROM THE SKY, HOW COULD THE HERON MAKE A COPY OF THE MAIN CHARACTERS MOM, WHY IS THERE SO MANY WATER MOTIFS THAT GO NO WHERE, WHAT WAS THE STACKING BLOCKS THINGS ABOUT, WHY IS ARE THE PARAKEETS TRYNA EAT PEOPLE, WHAT WAS THE HERONS EATTING WARAWARA ABOUT, AND ALSO WARAWARA ARE UNBORN HUMANS??? BUT ALSO MOST PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD IS DEAD??????? IM SO CONFUSED, HOW DID ANY OF THE REAL PEOPLE EVEN END UP HERE?
