The Last Stand

// @kusunokihime I had to drabble a little bit in response to that beautiful answer [ x ] for the last kiss ask I sent you! I’m with you on the whole ‘this doesn’t have to be the concrete way things go down’ thing, but I was so inspired and I just wanted to write something for you :3 Under cut because of length but also because there is violence and blood and death. Peep safely folks~

Like everyone else, Sasuke knew what the allied forces had to be willing to sacrifice. Knowing this seemed to make the battlefield... itchy. It wasn’t buzzing with excitement but, rather, a mixture of anxiety, adrenaline, and a healthy dose of fear. While Sasuke understood that no one was exempt from laying their assets on the line, that didn’t mean he was going to let Ryuu stand in harm's way.

Clans had gathered all of their chakra-wielding individuals, fathers and mothers and children alike. He knew he had no right to disrespect their sacrifice with a selfish act like sheltering his own precious person, not when they were laying everything on the line, but he had a good case.

Ryuu was a skilled medic that they couldn’t risk losing. Not only that, but she could adeptly protect the wounded with her barriers if the enemy tried to surge them, and she could always let the beast in her free and wipe out whoever stood in her way if she really needed to. She was best-suited tending to the wounded out of harm’s way.

Ryuu’s role was to reduce the chances of anyone having to make a fatal sacrifice, and Sasuke’s was to make those inevitable sacrifices worth something.

He slipped through the groups of people, turning heads with each advancing step. He came to a stop only when he finally stood out in front of everyone. If he was Naruto, he would have made a big statement like, “You’ll be watching me from back there the whole time!” or “As long as you can see my back, you’ll be safe!” The comments were dramatic in his head, but he wasn’t Naruto. He wasn’t loved or welcomed or respected like Naruto.

His presence on the battlefield was heavy, but he owed an explanation to no one, not even his former teammates. The weight of battle should feel heavy. He should feel no pressure to be welcomed there. He should feel no desire to be respected or revered. This was war, after all. The only pressure should be on the enemy. That didn’t stop them from wanting a dialogue anyway, as useless as it all was. No time for nostalgia, but Sasuke felt secure fighting beside Naruto and Sakura. At their sides, he felt like they were making a difference. They were making a dent, paving the way for the rest of the allied forces to make an impact too rather than just be overwhelmed.

In the beginning, Sasuke’s focused mind was as sharp as his blade. Over time, though, as the trials of battle became greater and greater, he began to wonder about Ryuu. After so much violence on the battlefield, how was she faring? Was she overwhelmed with the injured? Had she made a presence on the battlefield to retrieve the wounded or perhaps treat them where they lay? Was she safe?

His mind was cracking, and he couldn’t go on that way. He had to see her. He was getting tired. He was feeling weak. He just needed to see her.

After Madara suggested that Sasuke ally with him, his temper flared when Sasuke simply turned away and showed his back in disrespect. Sasuke’s resolve had broken. He began a hasty retreat, intending to find Ryuu and put his mind at ease, but Madara took advantage of the break in Sasuke’s focus. The blade aimed at Sasuke’s back crashed into what seemed like nothing, though. The sound caused Sasuke to flinch. He was entirely unaware of the barrier that Ryuu left him with, but he saw it as a divine intervention of sorts.

Madara turned away, bored of Sasuke already, and made to retrieve the last of the bijuu. Sasuke had to make a choice at that moment: go back to Ryuu, or go after Madara. It was a split second decision, but the reasoning was easy. If he left the battle now, then would she even want to see him again? Would she have any love for a man in such disgrace? The fate of the world didn’t move him nearly as much as his image in Ryuu’s eyes. He wanted to be a man she could love. Dare he say, he needed that love like he needed air. Now that he’d grown so accustomed to the warmth that was her presence, he refused to live a life left wanting for that comforting grace.

His body moved on its own. He advanced on Madara, ready to end things, to be done with it all, to be able to go back to Ryuu and just live a quiet life and die a quiet death. Madara was nothing to be underestimated, though. It was too easy to catch Sasuke with a blade to the abdomen. His hands found the metal piercing through him and gripped tightly, causing streams of blood to trail down his hands. The breaths lurching from his lungs were fought for fiercely until he started to just... give it up. Some things weren’t worth the struggle. Ryuu was, but Sasuke, well, he’d never been worth much to begin with.

Here Sasuke was, a proud man about to die in the simplest of ways. How funny. He wanted to be a man fit for Ryuu’s affection, so he stayed to fight. He stayed to make her proud, and now he’d never see her again as a result of his chivalry. She could, at least, love his memory this way... but would she? How sad that he would die before ever knowing if she did, if she wanted to, if she could.

His fingers touched his lips where she’d last touched him, smearing blood. His eyes fluttered shut, and he imagined the determined scrunch of her brow, sure to be present as she fought for life after life like the loving woman she was. He wanted to see that brave face again, so he pushed himself up. He could not go down like this. He wouldn’t. For the sake of his heart, for the sake of her safety, for the sake of the world, he could not go down.

He... had to get up. He... had to.. had to get... get...

His lips parted to make way for a sigh, and just like that, there was no more pain.

1st -> バカbaka/Idiot: Tobira to Naruto: “Your a bigger バカidiot than elder brother!”

2nd -> インケンinken/.. DORK??? wwwWIENER? They must’ve confused インケン with インケイinkei/peeenis!!!! 🤣 inkei isn’t an insult...

3rd -> スケベ sukebe/perv, Jiraya, grand pervert himself, said スケベ to describe Hiruzen’s lewdness in flashback.

4th -> ジジイjijii/geezer, jiji can be geezer(insulting, calling them old) or grandpa depending on how you say it/context. same with baba grandma/hag. Minato is Boruto’s biological grandpa.

5th -> ババアbabaa/hag, naruto called her バアちゃんbaachan/granny. And she is quite old.

Interesting, this isn’t a meme in eng circles. I think this has to do with translation of 戦術senjutsu.

-> fighting techniques/style -> imply in eng Tobirama used edoten in mid fight as a portable instant konan however it’s more like conflict strategy, tactics -> imply in jp a tactic you could use in a war involving bombs that look like humans.

Tobirama said something more like: I created edo tensei, in addition a suitable tactic; though it’s the first time i’m using my own body, however. (blows himself up in front of Obito)

陰険 kanji break downs to yin,hidden, background, shadow, etc + danger, risk, evil scheme. Modern use, sterotypical inken person/behavior does plotting underneath the shadows underneath good cover. a dualistic aspect.

Hashirama popular person was elected hokage as per the will of the people in village/country.

I WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THAT MIRROR MIRROR WIP VERY PLEASE

Lol, I will deliver! I haven't worked much on this AU since I posted the WIP to tumblr but here is my remaining working outline:

Madara turning outward/fighting/killing/village disliking it/worsening tension. Never stays 'in the village' as hokage, constantly on the battlefield. (Scene with Onoki?) Crushes all threats, at the cost of early alliances. One man army, Izuna/Mito basically acting hokages in village.

Hashirama returning~threat/set up to jinchuriki/kurama/etc. Hashirama's been seen in other lands, non-aggressive unless engaged (put in there have been deaths/no one can stop him when others do get aggressive). Konoha doesn't like Madara, but doesn't want to oust him bc of Hashirama's threat. Turns inward towards Konoha Izuna/Mito start working on jinchuriki seal as failsafe. Madara takes control of Kurama, goes out to meet him.

VotE Confrontation. See canon remixed. Mito seals Kurama. Ends with Madara stabbing them both with his sword. He's facing forward, Hashirama behind him. They die* (Hashirama does not die.)

flashback ends. Awkward(TM) silence in temple. Someone (Izuna?) tells him Hashirama didn't die/his body was never found. Someone else (lbr prob Sai) pipes up with 'guess who we're fighting?' Madara low-key loses his shit. Nearly breaks temple as he immediately leaves to confront Hashirama. (v angry)

Rush out to meet Hashirama/Meet Tsunade (big ass red susanoo. holding the line against zetsu army. MS probably tied to healing(?) Cameo from Taka/Obito) Other village leaders not happy to see Madara, doesn't care blows past them and zetsu to head towards Hashirama (remix, "it's about damn time line"?). Hashirama v happy (but high key crazy) to see Madara, Madara pissed and trying to beat the shit out of him. Is Nagato the 10 tails jinchuriki rn? Might be.

3/21 Edit: Extend more? I don't want to deal with entire arc remixed but do a highlight reel? Then quickly cover Kaguya, tree, Nagato, Hagaromo etc? End with positions reversed, Madara kneeling by Hashirama while they die? (would Madara even be in the mental state/be able to forgive Hashirama for that?)

A big issue I'm wrestling with in this AU is that I don't know if Madara would be able to forgive Hashirama for his betrayal (even if it was under manipulation). This wants to be a very angsty AU and I'm torn between giving into that angst and doing a more crack-based (ie canon) approach to get them to the end.

The big betrayal so you see what I mean is under this cut but I'm serious.

***MAJOR SPOILERS***

In the VotE fight, where canon!Madara took a chunk out of Hashirama, mirror!Hashirama took one of Madara's eyes to complete the plan. Then in the mirror to the canon moment of canon!Madara pinning Hashirama and taking his senjutsu, mirror!Hashirama takes the remaining eye (having discovered too late that he needed both for this to work and bc of bullshit Uchiha/edo tensei logic the only way to get the 'real' eye since Madara's was burned by Izuna was this convoluted mess).

Considering how eyes are treated within this AU that is...a huuuuuge fucking breach of trust and was designed by what I wanted the reveal of Hashirama's face/taking his senjutsu to be. Hits the angsty moments hard, but makes for an extremely difficult reconciliation.

V. thank you !! i’ve only recently settled into an art style i like so i’m glad people like it !!

as for miki, he’s a bit of an odd - ball. he was definitely one of the wallflowers at the academy and kept mainly to himself. nobody in his class even knew his name until he was assigned to a team. most people tend to give him a wide berth due to the strange markings on his face and later the rest of his body.

the ishii clan has roots in oni no kuni (the land of daemons) and possesses a very rare, very strange kekkei genkai—or at least what is thought to be a kekkei genkai, but is in fact a kekkei mora derived from ancestral ties to the otsutsuki—called “maryoku goyu”, meaning “supernatural prowess”.

this kekkei mora allows select members of the ishii clan to commune and interact with entities on the spiritual plane. in ancient times when the ishii bloodline was still strongly connected to the otsutsuki, this ability could be used without much difficulty given that the user was practiced in the art of senjutsu and harnessing natural energy. however, as the clan became further and further separated from the otsutsuki, practicing senjutsu became less common and thus those born with the kekkei mora began to suffer the ill effects of the unique, hybridized chakra in their bodies.

miki is the first to be born with maryoku goyu in several generations, long after the unfortunate fates of those before him had been forgotten. his kekkei mora causes chakra manifestations to form on his skin as it gradually eats away at him from the inside out. this process would normally be very slow were he never to use his ability, but that is not the case. he finds himself using it more frequently than he would like, causing the deterioration of his body to hasten over the years. the “spots” on his skin are the result of this usage and are more akin to highly sensitive scars than mere markings.

after the events of the fourth shinobi world war where miki volunteered his unique abilities to call upon deceased spirits to assist in the battle, his chakra manifestations grew exponentially and he was forced into early retirement from shinobi life shortly thereafter on account of being bound to a hospital bed the majority of the time as well as having gone blind from the effects of his illness.

so long as he doesn’t use maryoku goyu anymore, his predicted lifespan is another decade or so—if he’s lucky. any more executions of his kekkei mora, however, and he runs the risk of his disease reaching his heart and killing him in a rather painful manner.

his signature technique utilizing his kekkei mora is kuchiyose: reiteki kakusei (summoning: spiritual awakening) wherein he summons forth spirits that can then interact with the material plane for a certain amount of time. this duration entirely depends on his physical stamina to maintain the jutsu. other, less intensive techniques that don’t give spirits a fully corporeal form are easier for him to perform, but are nonetheless still devastating on his body.

Oro, Dan, Rose e Akira entram para a Season 5 de Street Fighter V

A quinta temporada de Street Fighter V vai garantir conteúdo até o final de 2021 para o título lançado em 2016, e com isso vamos contar um pouco sobre cada um dos personagens anunciados. Para 2020 o título receberá Dan Hibiki. DAN Um personagem que iniciou sua jornada na série Alpha, inicialmente com desejo de vingança pela morte de seu pai ele tenta se tornar discipulo de Gouken mas não consegue justamente pelo motivo que o leva a procurar o mestre de Ryu e Ken. O pai de Dan foi o responsável por fazer Sagat usar um tapa olho, Go Hibiki com uma voadora violenta acabou com o olho de Sagat e foi morto pelo mesmo na frente de Dan. Dan Hibiki também esteve em Street Fighter IV. Em 2021 o título receberá Rose, Oro, Akira e um personagem não revelado. ROSE A contraparte de Bison, mais precisamente a parte boa que habitava nele Rose também iniciou sua jornada na série Alpha quando Bison se dividiu de sua parte boa e ela ganhou a forma fisíca conhecida como Rose. O ultimo jogo em que ela apareceu foi Street Fighter IV, ou seja, dos quatro anunciado ela e Dan fizeram parte do quadro de lutadores do título anterior. Here are the different modes and techniques that Naruto can use in the Canon AU Senjutsu Training!

MODES & TECHNIQUES: NARUTO UZUMAKI

Nine-Tails Chakra Mode: There are various levels to this mode, represented by the number of chakra tails Naruto has. Kurama’s chakra will envelop Naruto and not only change his appearance, but enhance his speed and strength as well. Furthermore, his healing abilities will be boosted to an even more exceptional level. He is also able to sense people through their negative emotions. He is able to create multiple chakra arms in this mode. He can even extend his chakra to envelop others.

Tailed-Beast Mode: A step up from Nine-Tails Chakra Mode where Naruto’s chakra shroud takes on an even more advanced form and creates a sort of cloak parted down the middle. Apart from his appearance changing, his speed and strength are enhanced to an even further degree. In this form, Naruto can transform into a replica of Kurama and even manifest some of the beast’s body parts. He cannot enter this mode voluntarily. It only happens when Kurama fear that Naruto will lose his life. —— —— ——

*Note: Naruto’s typical fighting style is to use Nine-Tails chakra mode at varying levels, Rasengan, and shadow clones. He almost always fights with shadow clones. If he is not taking the battle seriously, he will litter the battlefield in his father’s teleportation kunai and jump between them for fun. —— —— ——

Shadow Clone: Supplementary This is Naruto’s favorite technique. He is able to create a corporeal clone of himself that reflects his image, ability, and mental state. They are able to act independently of him as well as in total unison. When a clone dies, it disappears. They can either defend, attack, or perform supplementary tasks. Each clone will have an equally divided portion of Naruto’s energy, and can dispel themselves at any point. The clones and original will all be affected by what they individually do. If too much chakra is used or energy must be redirected, clones may disappear accordingly.

Simple Clone: These clones are simply images. Without any chakra or corporeal form, they can be distinguished from the original by any dojutsu. They work as an illusionary tactic and may not disappear upon making contact with someone/thing, but cannot cause damage. When dispelled, they disappear. —— —— ——

Sealing Techniques: Supplementary Naruto uses sealing scrolls to seal weapons and gear and make his traveling lighter. He will seal weapons into his clothes as well. He has been known to seal shadow clones into objects like trees to release as needed. The bulk of his sealing techniques are used on the fly or to set up an ambush field. He has also sealed one of his father’s Thunder God Kunai into Sasuke himself, so that he can always transport himself to Sasuke under any circumstances. —— —— ——

Rasengan/Spiraling Sphere: Short-Range, Offensive This technique relies solely on Naruto’s chakra control and is intended to be infused with the user’s nature affinity. Once complete, it is self-sustaining and has no time limit. Naruto may be able to throw the ball, making it mid-range as well, but he is more likely to make contact himself so he doesn’t miss his target (all forms of Rasengan are short-range, offensive techniques that require no hand seals). —— —— ——

Rasenshuriken/Spiraling Shuriken: All-Range, Offensive, Original Technique Naruto manipulates the shape of Rasengan so that it has four points protruding from it, making it resemble a shuriken that attacks the body on a cellular level. The wind-blades sever all nerve channels in the body, leaving the target unable to move after being struck. They also attack the entire chakra circulatory system (all forms of Rasenshuriken are all-range, original, offensive techniques that require no hand seals).

Mini Rasenshuriken: A tiny version of Rasenshuriken. It can be formed using only one finger while in Nine-Tails Chakra Mode. It’s small but still effective and powerful.

Twin Rasenshuriken: Naruto dual-wields Rasenshuriken in each hand, typically while in Nine-Tails Chakra Mode.

Ultra-Big Ball Rasenshuriken: While in Nine-Tails Chakra Mode, Naruto creates a huge Rasenshuriken with immense power. This is difficult to do in his standard mode. —— —— ——

Tailed Beast Ball: Long-Range, Offensive A specially balanced sphere of both negative and positive chakra compressed in the mouth that has an explosive amount of energy. Naruto uses this only in full Tailed-Beast Mode, although he can use it in lesser modes if he loses control of himself. The power of the attack is relative to the power of the user, though its effects are known to be devastating at all times (all forms of this attack are long-range, offensive techniques that require no hand seals).

Continuous Tailed Beast Balls: In Tailed-Beast Mode, Naruto continuously fires uncompressed Bijūdama at the enemy in rapid succession.

Super-Mini Tailed Beast Ball: In Tailed-Beast Mode, Naruto forms a super condensed Bijūdama that creates a sizable explosion on impact. He can use this with the aid of a shadow clone in Nine-Tails Chakra Mode. —— —— ——

Weapons Techniques: All-Range, Offensive Naruto prefers to use weapons he can use in close combat as well as easily throw. He will often fuse wind chakra into a thrown weapon to increase its speed. He will also infuse Kurama’s chakra into a thrown weapon to manipulate its path once thrown. He also uses a mechanism in the sleeves of his shirt that can quickly dispense a kunai into his hand without having to reach for one. —— —— ——

MODES & TECHNIQUES: SASUKE UCHIHA

Cursed Seal of Heaven, Level Two: After Sasuke upgraded his curse seal, he is able to skip the first level and directly ascend into level two. When activated, the seal deteriorates his sanity. The mental effects of the seal may be able to be reversed by a skilled healer who can target the damage done in his brain, though the effectiveness of that type of healing is still unknown. When inactive, the seal is a black mark of three tomoe that sits on the back of his neck. When active, the seal changes the color of his skin and eyes to gray, causes him to grow wings, grows and turns his hair blue, and forms a mark on the bridge of his nose. Sasuke has access to more chakra and his techniques are more powerful via his cursed connection to one of Orochimaru’s experiments. Sasuke does not yet know that this person is where the extra chakra comes from and what allows him to replaces any lost limbs immediately with snakes and, later, regenerate them. —— —— ——

*Note: Sasuke’s typical fighting style is using his sword, Sharingan, and reinforcing his weapons with lightning, but he may use any of the techniques below. He may also use his Sharingan to copy his opponent and use techniques that he does not otherwise know. —— —— ——

Sharingan/Copy Wheel Eye: Supplementary, Kekkei Genkai Dōjutsu By establishing eye contact with the enemy, Sasuke can put them under a genjutsu of his choosing that can have any number of effects. It also allows his eyesight to be enhanced. He is able to predict a person’s movement flawlessly, track chakra, and copy techniques that he does not otherwise know. It does not take very much chakra to maintain at all and is often the first thing he does in battle. No form of Sharingan can copy techniques that Sasuke does not have a genetic predisposition to use, such as other kekkei genkai techniques.

Tier 1: Developed upon returning to the village from training at age five to see his entire compound covered in the blood of his clansmen.

Tier 2: Developed upon realizing that Itachi was still living and Sasuke’s strength was pathetic in comparison.

Tier 3: Current level. Developed in a fight where Sasuke almost kills Naruto, who was trying to take Sasuke home out of brotherly love when Sasuke attempted to abandon Konoha.

Mangekyō: What Sasuke has heard and been able to dig up in the ruins of his clan’s home compound has led him to be sure that he will never acquire it. Although, it does allow the user to master many techniques and skills that Sasuke does desire.

Various Genjutsu Techniques: Sasuke is occasionally able to do these without establishing eye contact by concentrating energy into a certain portion of his body or an item and launching the target into the genjutsu when they look at the chosen focal point. His favored genjutsus are barraging the target with crows, trapping them in shackles that painfully pierce into their skin, and lighting them on fire. —— —— ——

Water Walk: Supplementary Sasuke is able to concentrate chakra in his feet to and use his limited water affinity to manipulate the water beneath him, allowing him to travel across water without having to actually walk. It takes more chakra than he is often willing to use to actually manipulate the water, so he is more likely to simply walk on the surface. —— —— ——

Chakra Flow: Supplementary Sasuke will use the chakra from one of his nature affinities to charge through an object, often a weapon, and increase the damage done. He often does this by coating his sword in lightning, which will allow it to cut through even steel with ease. He will also commonly send fire down the line of a wire which is attached to a kunai or shuriken. —— —— ——

Lightning Flash Blade Creation: Supplementary Sasuke will have sealed a weapon or tool away into a scroll or a portion of his clothing. The weapon can then be summoned later on by simply touching the seal marks, which can be drawn anywhere. This cuts down the time it could take to attack an opponent with weapons or tools. —— —— ——

Shadow Clone: Supplementary Sasuke is able to create a corporeal clone of himself that reflects his image, ability, and mental state. They are able to act independently of him as well as in total unison. When a clone dies, it disappears. They can either defend, attack, or perform supplementary tasks. He will attack and then use the opponent’s counter-attack to flip positions and assault them all the way down to the ground. The combo almost always ends with a kick to the stomach that sends the enemy crashing into the floor. This technique is not likely to be used all that often on the same opponent. —— —— ——

Manipulated Shuriken: All-Range, Offensive Sasuke will attach a transparent string to a shuriken so that he can manipulate its path after having thrown it. He can continue this attack for a long period of time, although it does eventually lose momentum or he simply grows bored of it. —— —— ——

Shadow Shuriken: Mid/Long-Range, Offensive Two shuriken are thrown, one in the shadow of the other. The purpose is for Sasuke to draw attention to the upper one as a decoy so that the lower one may complete the attack. If both are noticed, then the attack is useless. However, he’ll sometimes attach a transparent string to one, or both, of the shuriken in order to manipulate them when fighting a difficult opponent who cannot be fooled so easily. —— —— ——

Phoenix Sage Fire: Short-Range, Offensive *Hand Seals Required: Rat→Tiger→Dog→Ox→Rabbit→Tiger Sasuke will create a group of small fireballs that are each individually controlled with chakra, making them difficult to avoid. While this technique works as an offensive attack, it is mostly used as a distraction. —— —— ——

Great Fireball: Short/Mid-Range, Offensive *Hand Seals Required: Horse→Tiger Sasuke kneads chakra inside his body to convert it into fire and expels it from the mouth as either a massive fireball or as a continuous flame-thrower. —— —— ——

Dragon Fire: Mid-Range, Offensive *Hand Seals Required: Snake→Dragon→Rabbit→Tiger Sasuke is able to breathe fire along some sort of cord or any long object, or even a line of people, and send it to catch the enemy on fire. He typically uses it with wire strings. —— —— ——

Great Dragon Fire: All-Range, Offensive *Hand Seals Required: Tiger Sasuke compresses a large amount of chakra inside his body and charges it into a dragon head-shaped fireball. He, then, skillfully manipulates the fire to attack his opponent. —— —— ——

Chidori: Short-Range, Offensive Sasuke creates lightning that coats his hands that sounds like chirping birds. The lightning can reinforce his hand to pierce through objects and increase his attack speed greatly. He could easily pierce through a person’s body. This is a useful assassination attack.

Black Chidori: This technique is Short-Range, Offensive. This form of chidori is derived from the use of Sasuke’s Cursed Seal. While in Cursed Seal Mode, the lightning becomes much denser and blackened. It is much stronger than standard chidori and the sound changes from a bright chirping to a heavy flapping.

Chidori Current: This technique is Short/Mid-Range, Offensive, Defensive. This technique is explosive. Electrical charge bursts out from Sasuke’s body in every direction. Anyone who is affected will go stiff as their muscles contract, and some have been known to be thrown into seizures or comatose due to pre-existing conditions. This is a very effective defensive technique, though it still causes damage to the victim.

The current can be channeled through the earth to increase the range of the attack. Sasuke is less adept with his Earth affinity, so he can either increase the range of the attack all the way around him by a small amount to widen his defensive buffer zone, or he can channel the current in a singular direction over a greater distance to use it more offensively.

Chidori Senbon: This technique is Short/Mid-Range, Offensive. Sasuke compresses the chidori and molds it into a senbon needle shape. He is adept at making small, extremely dense needles. He throws the needles at the victim or, as a distraction/delay technique, sends the needles off in every direction around him. The needles can easily pierce through body tissue if the target is within short-range. At mid-range, the needles will stick but not cut clean through. If they stick, the electrical charge is dense enough to linger for a few moments and shock the entire body. Chidori Spear: This technique is Short/Mid-Range, Offensive. Sasuke compresses the chidori and molds it into a spear shape. He can extend the beam outward as a mid-range attack and maintains control by continuing to hold the beam at his hand. At short-range in a spear-like shape, it will easily pierce clean through a body. He can also swing this as a sword-type weapon. At short-range, it will slice clean through. At mid-range, it can cause potentially fatal cuts. If the target is pierced, Sasuke can manipulate the spear to change shape or create more blades in their body for more damage. As long as he holds on, he can cause electrical charges to shock the target. —— —— ——

Kirin/Lightning Strike: All-Range, Offensive, Original Technique Sasuke can harness natural lightning and cause it to strike wherever he wishes. If storm clouds are already present, it takes very little chakra to cause 3-4 small strikes per storm, which are strong enough to stun the target into unconsciousness. By using more chakra, he can direct one large strike per storm, which is strong enough to explode the body’s organs if the target is unprotected. After 3-4 small strikes or one large strike, the clouds will disperse.

Fire Storm Kirin: If there are not storm clouds naturally present, Sasuke can use powerful fire techniques to create the right conditions. This uses a lot of chakra. Depending on the mass of the clouds he must create, he may only be able to use the few small strikes of lightning before depleting his chakra reserves, or he may end up depleting his reserves on one massive strike. If he extends the time that it takes to create the clouds, it will save him chakra. —— —— ——

"You have to balance both your mind AND your body," she instructs quietly as not to interrupt his progress. Kneeling at his front, one palm finds his brow, the other pressing to his chest. Both flare softly with warm, calming chakra in an attempt to help him focus. But she might be doing more harm than good, being so close. (:3c)

Sitting quietly just irked Sasuke, even though he was so used to it. In fact, he preferred silence, and he preferred to be alone with himself. Yet, when he tried to sit quietly in these lessons, he got angry.

Perhaps it was the niggling need to be perfect and the fact that he couldn’t meet that need with this.

Perfection was key. If he was sloppy enough to let his faults get ahead of him, then he could lose everything he’d been working toward in an instant. All it would take was one slip during the inevitable reunion with Itachi for his life’s work to be entirely nullified. That, of course, stoked a mighty need in him. Being in tip-top shape wasn’t a desire. It was a necessity. But he wasn’t perfect at this. In fact, he was barely catching on.

Perhaps it was the fact that he couldn’t force this one thing to go the way he wanted... or, rather, needed.

He’d like to pride himself on patience, but this endeavor proved beyond the shadow of a doubt that his patience was lacking in practice. Usually, when his body didn’t respond to his training how he wanted, he tended to beat himself into submission rather than let it come to him in its own time. Patient, huh? He couldn’t do that with this, though. He had to let it come naturally.

Perhaps it was the fact that he was good at silence but so bad at peace.

He just couldn’t seem to center himself. Even though it was mostly background noise these days, the riotous turmoil roiling in his head seemed to get the better of him at the worst times. He’d become rather adept at skimming the surface of the dark thoughts that tended to fill his silence. He could never truly get away from it all, but he was quite good at redirecting. He knew how to take problematic mental energy and transmute it, sure, but that was topical at best. The root was as rotten as ever.

He was getting deep into this train of thoughts when Ryuu pointed out the obvious. He wanted to snap at her, but he bit his tongue. He could say something sharp like, ‘I know,’ or ‘Of course,’ but the fact that he wasn’t actively doing it remained, and a sharp reaction would simply be moot.

He tried to inhale a deep breath, but it was sucked in sharp when he felt Ryuu’s hands on him. He almost recoiled, but what would be the typical reaction never quite came. Yes, his heart came to life and, yes, his skin set ablaze, and his eyes snapped open quickly. But even though his heart was hammering in his chest, and even though his gut was twisting with anxiety, and even though his eyes were wide with uncertainty, he managed to keep calm when he murmured, “Please don’t touch me.” Then, as an afterthought, he added, “At least ask first.”

A relieved, and somewhat surprised, breath huffed from Sasuke’s lips. A small smirk tugged at their corners as he felt a wave of pride wash over himself. His concentration was broken, but that was okay. The technique was already executed anyway.

He knew the benefits of practicing meticulous chakra control, but he tended to take a more aggressive approach to his training. He would squeeze every ounce of energy from his body to drill the techniques into his psyche. He worked his body sore and his mind raw. He never realized how a gentle approach could change things. Here, the results that he would spend a week drilling into his body were seen in less than a day. That was thanks to Ryuu’s guidance. Gathering natural energy and using it to fuel his techniques required such a different approach, and he was starting to think he might really enjoy this. To take a step away from the anger and frustration that fueled his determination was refreshing. He could get used to this space of serenity.

He glanced over at Ryuu, who noticed his soft smile, and she beamed at him. The admiring gaze caused Sasuke’s chest to puff up a bit, enflaming his sense of pride in himself. Next thing he knew, her voice was almost right up against his ear as she innocently leaned close to him.

“Good job,” she praised. “You’re really special, Sasuke.”

When he glanced sideways at her, the look in her eyes was so genuinely rich with pride that it caused Sasuke’s cheeks to get hot. He leaned away from her, and she took that cue to lean away from him too.

“Better than you ever thought you’d be, right?” she commented, winking at him. Then, more seriously, “Let’s go again. This time, don’t get so excited that you break your concentration.” She nudged him with her elbow playfully before stepping away and prompting, “Whenever you’re ready.”

Sasuke wasn’t one to ramble, not even in the slightest, but Ryuu got him talking somehow. He, honestly, didn’t even remember what got him going anymore. He was just chatting endlessly at this point, and somehow they’d gotten on the topic of his brother. Well, he’d gotten on the topic. Ryuu wasn’t participating at all, really. She was just listening, and Sasuke was okay with that. At least, he was okay with it until he heard a soft snore. He was annoyed at first.

But then he considered the vulnerable nature of the territory he’d walked into. Maybe it was best that she didn’t get all of that anyway. He wouldn’t want her thinking they were bonding or something. Still, he was at least a little bit frustrated with her. Just to be petty, he kicked her leg gently, hoping to wake her from her slumber and intending to pretend he did no such thing.

Sasuke didn’t think Ryuu was weak, not exactly. Her strength manifested in different ways than his own, and he respected that. He acknowledged her for her power in his head, but he never was very good at expressing these things. The rolling of his eyes, the scoffing, the gestures of dismissal--it all seemed to rub Ryuu the wrong way. Then again, was there a right way to take such things?

Sasuke was never trying to minimize her. He was just pushing to push. He was keeping his distance, protecting the air of mystery that he liked to hide behind. The fact that she couldn’t fully understand his thoughts or intentions made him feel secure. She didn’t need to know how he truly felt about her--or anything, for that matter--but she was pretty astute. She probably uncovered the fact that he actually thought pretty highly of her.

That wasn’t exactly the case, though. If it was, then she wouldn’t be gripping his arm with an uncharacteristic ferocity.

It was a silent demand. ‘Don’t you dare belittle me.’

Her lips were tightly pursed, her brows slightly furrowed, and her gaze as stern as her grip was firm. She was close enough that Sasuke could feel her breath huffing furiously from her nose against his skin. She didn’t speak, not any further, not since he’d just so carelessly dismissed her.

First of all, he made the mistake of speaking at length about his mission to find his brother and what he must do when they finally reunited. She became deeply interested in this part of his personal journey, and that rubbed him the wrong way. After all, it was his personal journey. She had no right to dissect it as though her input was welcome, especially not if she was simply going to attempt to derail his revenge entirely. That irritated him, yes, but not so much that it showed in his body language, so it was obvious that she was making no impact.

First, she calmly disputed the reasonings he provided for why his actions would be warranted.

Then, when he cut her down at every turn, she took to subtly pleading for him to “be the man she knew he was inside”. His eyes rolled. As if she knew the man he was inside.

After becoming frustrated with that, she took to not-so-subtle threats. That was when he laughed at her. If it had been a dry, mirthless laugh, it might have rubbed her differently. It wasn’t though. There was a tinge of true amusement alight in his eyes, as if he was rolling on the inside considering the fact that she could ever measure up to him.

Maybe his reactions were maddening to her. Maybe she was just too passionate about saving a stranger’s life. Either way, she ended up at a breaking point.

After a few long moments of silence, in which she stared him down, she warned, “Don’t underestimate me.”

A smirk tugged at Sasuke’s lips, and he simply whispered, “I don’t.”

“You don’t know what I’m capable of,” Ryuu insisted. She huffed and let him go, turning away from him and taking a couple of short, clipped breaths as she found her calm again.

“...I know.”
