"Some music sounds better when the world is asleep."
The sound beneath her fingers twitches, ringing half a beat too long on the same note. She glances up, across the distance between them bridged by the pool of their shadows and a song that wanders without end, and recovers the drifting melody as their eyes meet.
Zelda lets herself smile, faint and unrehearsed. With the hero who saved her kingdom, the queen is unwound enough for it. Melancholic enough for it. Time passes so regularly — so unaffected by the remnants of a pall only recently removed, by the sorrows she knows still touch the both of them — that it is an easy truth to look away from:
They are, in their own ways, aching for the twilight.
"I think I understand," she says, because she does. More than she dares to admit. Her voice is accompanied by minor arpeggios now — plucked from her lyre in careful wavelets. "These hours are quaint. There are songs that are simply...written for them."
She talks around it. This is how it often is.

Rudie's Masterlist
Started: 1/5/24
Updated 7/5/24
Hello, everyone. My name is Rudie, and I have a passion for daydreaming. To get out of my comfort zone, I'm finally brave enough to write on tumblr! Here is my updated tag list to find all chapters of my fan fiction. I do not own the rights to any of these characters, save for the ones I created to add to the universes I fell in love with! More chapters will be produced and added accordingly here. Some chapters may contain 18+ scenes. Minors, do not interact with my page, please. Each chapter with any content will be specified at the top of the fan fiction chapter beneath the title. I am NOT open to collaborations on any of my works unless asked permission for collaboration in DM. Please do not steal my work. I shouldn’t even say this. For the love of all, do not plagiarize. Thank you for observing this! Enjoy <3

Chopin – Variations in A, “Souvenir de Paganini” (1829) Every now and then I fall into a listening rabbit hole where I explore music from one composer for a few days, sometimes spilling into weeks or months. Right now, I’m back with Chopin. Odd choice, because I’m already familiar with him, and there’s tons of works in my “to listen to” list that are gathering dust while I replay the same nocturnes again and again. Chopin was the first composer that got me into classical music, so maybe because of how stressful the world is to live in right now, I’m turning back to something comfortable and familiar. And despite the familiarity, some Chopin has been hitting my ears as if for the first time. This “souvenir” is a set of delicate variations on Paganini’s Carnaval of Venice. Instead of virtuosic scratching violin solos, we get Chopin’s delicate nocturne-style piano writing and compact variations over a simple repeating bass. A precursor to his later more elaborate Berceuse. And it’s probably the mix of being a charming melody with a simple harmony (I-V-V-I almost throughout) that got this piece stuck in my head. The earworm’s been living in my brain for three days, but I don’t mind too much. Each variation adds a new arabesque figure into the mix, new ornaments, glittering extra-notes, and baroque figurations. And the calmer atmosphere makes me feel like I’m listening to music that could go on forever, constantly playing around with the melody. Feeling like one of those summer afternoons you wish wouldn’t end.
