the sabbatical has been okay. trying to write frozen pines but then got struck by a smooth criminal random bout of vertigo that landed me in the ER a couple days ago

slowly trying to recover. gonna try going to work tomorrow to see how that works out.

been extremely dizzy and not great.

christmas was good tho, my sisters got me arthur morgan's journal which has been the highlight of my entire year

the hard drive on my laptop has finally given up and i don’t have the finances to replace it or my console at the moment.

im quite sad about the passing of Luis Vasquez of the soft moon. i saw them play last time they were in the city while i was feeling quite ill, he was a really incredible musician, im so glad i went despite not feeling well. the world really lost a real one. im so glad we have his music to live on even though he's gone. rip luis xx

Woke up to the random thought that the connection between semblance and aura is highly unclear

We know that if someone's aura breaks they can't use their semblance (unless the plot needs it >:/), so does that mean that semblances use energy from the soul like aura does? Is it like mana in video games where you only have so much before it runs out and needs to be replenished? If so, are there any substances that can give it a boost? What happens if you use the last of your aura on your semblance? Do people with passive semblances have a constant drain on their aura?

If they're not connected at all, then why would the absence of aura prevent semblance use? What would be preventing someone from using their semblance indefinitely?

God I wish the rules of this place were both clear and sensible
