They eventually agree to let Eurydice return to continue living, but only on one condition. The whole journey back up Orpheus is not allowed to look at her, not even once, if he does, she would stay in the Underworld. Unfortunately, as they went their way back up Orpheus eventually turned around to look at his wife because he simply loved her too much, having to leave her behind in the Underworld forever.

Tristan, a man who was a knight of Cornwall was sent to Ireland in order to bring back princess Isolde to marry his uncle, King Mark. However, on their journey they mistakenly drank the love potion who was meant for the princess and the king, causing them to fall in love deeply with one another. Even though princess Isolde eventually married king Mark, Tristan and her had an affair due to this love between the two of them. One day, King Mark finds out about the affair, wanting to hang Tristan and burn Isolde at the stake for their crimes. The lovers flee into the forest to take shelter there, and succeed for a couple of years. The ending of this story varies completely depending on which version you read, there is not one that is more known than the other.

Before I tell you about this myth I want you to know that the fate of these two is not necessarily similar to your future relationship at all; it is about the emotion and intensity of it all that describes your future relationship.

It is said that Niu Lang was a cowboy. He didn’t have parents so he lived with his brother and brother-in-law, he was maltreated. One day, after having been driven out of his home, an old man guided him to the sick cattle from heaven. With great care from Niu Lang, the cattle recovered. In order to show gratitude to Niu Lang, the cow helped him get acquainted with Zhi Nu - a fairy from the heaven. They fell in love with each other and married to live a happy life. However, good times didn't last long because Zhi Nu's deeds were known by the king of the heaven who took her back to heaven. With the cow's help, Niu Lang flew to heaven along with his two children as they chased their wife and mother. It was just at that moment before he could reach Zhi Nu that the queen of the heaven created a huge river between them. Tears from the two flowed continuously so that even the queen was moved. As a result, she allowed them to meet only on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month every year.

Wukong gasped for breath, leaning over the staff that was now half buried into the dirt, the magic of his brother beginning to fade as his spell took hold, dragging his elder brother into a deep sleep. His stone heart ached as what he had just done hit him, punishing him for his crimes once more as he began to feel the deep wells of pain and despair overflow. Niu was gone! Nice was gone, just like Liu'er, jsut like Azure, Peng, and Yellow Tusk! Just like his master and his pilgrim brothers. His monkies too, as they've long fled the mountain in search of a safer home. Everything he lovesld, everyone he cared about, destroyed by his own hand. Glancing up through sweat drenched baings, his breath caught once more at the sight of the woman, her hair tied up in an elaborate pair of horn like pigtails upon the hill. Watching him.

PIF had watched the entire thing.

"S-sister..." Wukong gasped once more, horror filling his breast as the woman approached him, "I-I didn't want to- he didn't give me a choice!"

"Shut up."

The words froze him like the ice in her glare as she knocked him aside with her fan. Her voice was full of venom, pure hatred spilling form her lips.

"How dare you... how dare you, you filthy beast! How dare you try to beg for mercy when not five minutes ago you stole my beloved away from me!" PIF spat at him, eyes glittering with unshed tears, "First my brother, and now you have taken my husband. Is there nothing that your hands touch that you cannot destroy!?"

"No...n-no, please! Sister-" Wukong tried to beg, to explain himself. He hadn't had the choice, if he hadn't done this then Heaven would have-

"I said shut up, you beast!"

Wukong's voice died in his throat as those dreaded words left this sister in law's lips, reminding him all too well what he was. Beast. Monster. A Weapon. An Obsessive Demon playing the Hero! The voices if many rang through his head at that moment, and in his shock he could barely hear what his sister said next as she threw him aside once more.

"Forget calling me your sister, you filthy beast! I never wish to see your face again!"

Wukong trembled as he nodded, pausing to only glance back at his staff and the celebrating mortals below, unable to see the celestial princess behind him, before he walked past her. He didn't look back to see her collapse beside the staff, tears finally falling as she screamed in despair. He didn't let her see his own tears fall as he kept his own scream of despair in check.

She and Niu had been the last people be had left, he had no reason to stay anymore. She was right, Sun Wukong only ever destroyed everything he touched. He'd fulfill her wish, she would never see Sun Wukong again.

Years later a princess would be found lighting a pair of candles in prayer, regret buried deep within her breast for words that could not be taken back and a family she had lost, one to death, one to lost custody, one to imprisonment, and one by her own cruel words.

Wukong abandoning his identity and crown due to believing he had only hurt his closest companions. Only to not realise that his disappearance hurts them even more.

Iron Fan is such a sad character. She lost her sworn brother (Macaque) in a terrible fight, custody of Red Son to Guanyin cus he was too powerful/explosive, her husband to imprisonment, and now her sworn brother-in-law is seemingly forever missing. She's not having a happy 500 years.

But I bet she's the most dilligent in tracking Wukong down once more after he's seen at New Years!

On the one hand, the snake belongs to the yin, associated with darkness, dampness and femininity. Poisonous snakes are often associated with evil women who seduce men and suck their yang to nourish their yin.

However, snakes also have positive symbolism. For example, they are regarded as little dragons (xiaolong 小龍), and the skin snakes shed is referred to as the dragon’s coat (longyi 龍衣), symbolising good luck, rebirth and regality. The snake also symbolises the pursuit of love and happiness, a theme beautifully illustrated in the traditional folk tale, ‘The Legend of the White Snake’. The snake can also represent wealth and wisdom, and in traditional Chinese culture, they are often grouped with the turtle and the crane as a symbol of longevity

Why is the 2025 Lunar New Year called Year of the Wood Snake? The Chinese zodiac is a 12-year cycle that links each year to an animal sign. The 12 animal signs are Rat (shu 鼠), Ox (niu 牛), Tiger (hu 虎), Rabbit (tu 兔), Dragon (long 龍), Snake (she 蛇), Horse (ma 馬), Sheep (yang 羊), Monkey (hou 猴), Rooster (ji 雞), Dog (gou 狗) and Pig (zhu 豬). The order of the animal signs is fixed, with the Snake being sixth in the cycle, hence the Year of the Snake (shennian 蛇年) in 2025. Last year, 2024, was the Year of the Dragon (longnian 龍年) and 2026 is the Year of the Horse (manian 馬年). Turkish coffee has this magical way of sparking delightful conversations and weaving strong, lasting bonds of friendship. There's a rather beautiful, historical tale that takes us back to the early 1800s, a time when Istanbul was buzzing with the love for coffee.

In the heart of Uskudar, a bustling Ottoman-era marketplace hummed with life, where the aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafted through the air. It was here that a humble coffee vendor, known by locals for his rich brews and warm smiles, found himself entwined in a tale that would span decades.

On this particular day, a Janissary, draped in the regalia of his rank, marched into the coffeehouse with an unusual request. He approached the coffee maker, a maestro in the alchemy of coffee, and commanded that a free cup be served to everyone present, except for a solitary figure occupying a corner – the Greek captain.

The coffee maker obediently fulfilled the Janissary's directive, pouring his aromatic coffee for the assembled patrons. However, his fidelity towards the principles of hospitality and the spirit of genuine connection defied the Janissary's exclusion, and the coffee maker discreetly prepared two additional cups, one for himself and one for the solitary Greek captain.

The vendor, well-versed in the art of crafting the perfect cup, served the captain a piquant cup of coffee that promised not just a momentary reprieve, but a memory destined to endure. The two men immersed themselves in the warmth of shared conversation, accompanied with the vendor's delicious coffee.

Little did the coffee vendor know that fate had woven a thread connecting their lives. As the two men weathered across the storms of time, a disastrous war erupted, and the vendor found himself ensnared in its clutches. Yet, amid the chaos of battle, a glimmer of salvation emerged. The Greek captain, who emerged as a seasoned warrior, recognized the vendor from that distant day in Uskudar.

Moved by the enduring memory over the shared cup, he extended a hand to rescue the man who had once offered him warmth in a foreign land.

Indeed, the captain did not forget the coffee service 40 years ago.

"A cup of Turkish coffee shared with a friend is happiness tasted and time well spent," the coffee maker mused, echoing the sentiment that had echoed through the ages in the very heart of Uskudar."

The story suggests that a single cup of coffee can create memories that last a lifetime, contrasting with the idea that not all long periods of time necessarily result in rich or meaningful memories, the depth of our existence is not measured by the length of time but rather, the intensity of moments we have lived and felt.

• His OC trio has come to an end, with these Final three slots in one artwork. Or rather, "four" OCs because my A-Pal wants me to draw two OCs under one middle part. Nonetheless, here are the three OCs that my A-Pal asked for:

• Emme 🦌🌻: A lovable deer who's interested in flowers & seeing cute pictures that will be fitted through her smartphone. Not to mention, Jo's long-time friend & Maxwell's love interest.

• Jo🐆🏃‍♀️: Speaking of, here's Emme's best friend & Sam's love interest who can do fast on either track & field or in the wild through the landscapes of Africa (Hmm... From Morocco to South Africa... Can she handle the long mile?).

• Scottie 🐰📚🍌& Windy 🐰🎤: And finally, the father & mother of Maxwell, May & Sam (which is adopted). Scottie is an illustrator who can draw animated cartoons with his traditional art skills of paper & notepad. Plus, he's a huge fan of "Donkey Kong" when he was a childhood playing with his Nintendo game console. And, Windy is an amateur singer who can sing with her wonderful voice. No wonder, that she's a “Carrot Princess of Pop” from her throwback school years. Nowadays, since she's an adult stage, will she participate in the U.S. singing competition (you know, "American Idol", "The Voice", or "The X Factor")? Who knows?

Aww, man! His entire OCs are now complete! Yeah, even though, I've lost my other files, which I won't talk about it, but hey, I'm happy that I've drawn 34 OCs in 2 years! 😁📝🎨 And who knows? I predict, that my A-Pal will make a brand new OCs, in his future plan(s).

2024 was 'hard-won and free,' Zelensky says in New Year's Eve message

President Volodymyr Zelensky on Dec. 31 said 2024 was “another step towards justice, a fair peace, our victory, and a life without war,” in a post on social media to mark New Year’s Eve.

“Every single day of it has been won by our warriors, by all our people, by everyone who defends, works, strengthens, and helps,” he said.

“We Ukrainians know what it means not to wait for what tomorrow will bring, but to fight for every single day, and every year of freedom. And 2024 was exactly that — a year hard-won and free,” he added.

Ukraine has faced a particularly tough year on the battlefield. The entire year saw Ukrainian troops on the back foot, losing territory to the advancing Russian troops in northeastern Kharkiv Oblast and eastern Donetsk Oblast.

Russia captured Avdiivka — an industrial city in Donetsk Oblast — in February, kickstarting Moscow's offensives all across the region.

Taking advantage of a poorly conducted rotation of Ukrainian units, Russian troops launched a push toward Toretsk and Niu-York, towns in the mid-part of Donetsk Oblast that used to enjoy little engagement.

Russia continued to gain ground on the eastern part of the region over the summer, gradually approaching Pokrovsk, Kurakhove, and Vuhledar.

Vuhledar was captured in October. Experts say that Russia could capture Pokrovsk within "months."

As well as further challenges on the battlefield, 2025 will also bring with it U.S. President Donald Trump.

Trump’s previous criticism of U.S. military aid to Ukraine and his intent to “get out” of the war has sparked concerns that his approach may involve pressuring Kyiv into concessions to achieve a settlement.

Episode 23 Breakdown

Concerned by Snow Wolf's threat, Dr Bai is worried when he comes home to find Nurse Bai absent, and growls at her to tell him if she's going to be out late when she returns after shopping with Nurse Zhang Ling.

Officer Hongmei catches up with Ji Danyang in the cafeteria and asks him how the expert meeting went and whose approach will be followed. He advises that his approach will save the project 3 years of development time, and Officer Hongmei is impressed and states that his brain makes up for all of his shortcomings. Nurse Bai joins them and they congratulate her on her promotion.

The expert team hasn't seen He Xiwan for a couple of days and they're worried she's upset. They fake an emergency to pull her out of her room and give her cooked sweet potatos as a surprise and she reveals that she'd been busy working on calculations for the hull design that will move their testing forward even quicker.

Officer Hongmei updates Police Captain Chen on the workshop investigation, they've narrowed down 4 workers who have no alibi for the night before the accident. He counsels her to not narrow her suspect pool prematurely and to make sure to not upset the mood of the workers as they are vital to the project. Nurse Bai comes in to change his medicine at the same time Officer Tongbin advises them that Assistant Welder Rui has left the factory grounds.

Officer Tongbin and Officer Hongmei find him fishing for shrimp, and ask him about the acetylene he took to make his lamp. He described how the acetylene reacts with water and can be explosive and the following day gives a demonstration to the experts on using an acetylene explosion to weld titanium plates. Excited by the technique, the experts move forward with their design for a pressurised cabin test.

Ji Danyang visits Hongmei's dorm to gift her the rutile bracelet he promised to replace. She says that this gift was originally from Nurse Bai and he will have to come up with something else as his first gift to her.

The KMT get a report that Ye Xia, the spy from Hong Kong, has killed Ji Danyang's teacher An Wenshan. They also know about the upcoming pressurised cabin test.

Police Chief advises Ji Danyang of An Wenshan's death, and the belief it may not have been an accident, encouraging him to continue the Water Drop Project in his teacher's honour. Nurse Bai and Officer Hongmei offer their condolences and try coax him to eat something but he's sick and won't stay in the hospital, choosing instead to stay in his dorm and work on the pressure calculations for the cabin test. Nurse Bai brings some medicine for his stomach and the experts drop by to check in on him, but he sends them away.

The expert team comes to the workshop to test the newly created pressurised cabin. As they need the pressure readings from inside the cabin they need to have a person inside during the test which is risky, and He Xiwan insists on doing it herself despite several other experts including Ji Danyang offering to take her place. She declares her trust in her design, Ji Danyang's calculations and Master Welder Niu's construction, and the test begins.

Our math man and Hongmei have at least settled into communicating via friendly banter without being actually hurt by it. And she looks very happy to have her bracelet back, but is that because it was from Nurse Bai or from Ji Danyang??

I love how the expert team all looks out for each other, and that He Xiwan isn't told that the test is too risky for her because she's a woman, her opinion and dedication is respected as much as anyone elses.

Uh oh. I am just waiting on our math man's depression to have affected his calculations and for something to go wrong. I really don't want that to happen, but with the timing of his teacher's death, narratively that would be the next apt obstacle for them.
