Happy birthday, V!!
Aahhhh aöskhdfasf I got inspired by a recent character ask where I talked about what a perfect day in Vince's life would look like, and I instanly had the day post-Boat-Drinks in mind. And also recently I revamped my personal hc timeline for Cyberpunk 2077 to incorporate Phantom Liberty into Vince's story and I was like y'know what... the post-Boat-Drinks day would perfectly fit as taking place on V's birthday :3 Spent a decent amount of hours yesterday taking pics (and will publish some of these on their own too cause I love them sm and I had all the feels, and they deserve to shine!) - but for now really wanted to complete this lil rundown in time.
Happy birthday to all the other Vs that celebrate today as well \o/

i have this silly little image in my head of lila going back to the captain’s quarters after a night with the crew, all drunk and giggly like she was in acol, and climbing into kell’s lap and attempting to kiss every single one of his freckles. kell just accepts his fate and let’s her kiss his face 983838 times.

need people to pick up some modicum of critical thinking and wonder that maybe, it's possible, that the show is critiquing how it's always the same two men's dreams that come into conflict about how to move forward vs or with the rest of humanity ... and that maybe, just maybe, the answer could be (surprise!!) a secret third or even fourth option that doesn't include them?
because ororo did tell jean that they ought to believe not in a dream or for their gifts/powers... but in each other 👀

According to the US State Department, Russia interrogated, detained, or deported somewhere between 900,000 and 1.6 million Ukrainian citizens through July of this year. The United Nations Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights has verified the existence of the security checkpoints and "arbitrary detention, torture, ill-treatment and forced disappearance" of Ukrainians perceived as being pro-Ukraine or with tenuous-at-best links to the armed forces.

Yeah tbh that's part of the popular "feminist"/TERF anti-trans rhetoric. The idea that transition is essentially self-mutilation, and thus an act of self-hate/self-destruction.
It's the words people use to prevent vulnerable people from transitioning, and for those who have transitioned, to detransition. A lot of the commentary starts fairly innocuous (I want people to love themselves and their bodies) and basically ends up with "you're dead to me if you transition/don't detransition". Unfortunately some of that does actually tie in to the lesbian community being concerned that too many of "them" leave/"are transed" (I hate that phrasing fyi). To them, that's a netto loss.
And yeah. People like Blaire White, Ariel Scarcella and Buck Angel DO draw an audience of people commenting this crap. People actually make a difference between "true" and "fake" transgenders, and then come to the "realization" that "there is no difference, it's all fake". It's all a pipeline of anti-trans vitriol. Usually people who believe the former may use someone's preferred pronouns, and ppl belonging to the latter group will reject all preferred pronouns, no matter how well someone passes.
I once asked someone which toilet I should use, if I present as male but am biologically female. They told me "you shouldn't be going to public toilets at all, stay at home." They don't give a shit abt EVERYONE's safety. They only support cisnormativity. Aka, their COMFORT.
PS. Part of why this group of feminists will sooner discuss MTF than FTM is becaus they see MTF as intruders, and they see FTM as in-group, aka women who are either fully dead to them, or who strayed from the path but can still be lured back; quite a few detransitioners fall into this group as well.

some people will really see elliot page simply existing and feel like it’s their right to say the weirdest shit about him. it’s really incredible (and i mean that in the most literal sense of fucking unbelievable) how openly these people admit that they think we exist solely to benefit them — no lives of our own, no autonomy. as far as they’re concerned, we’re just here to look pretty and have their babies, to decorate and populate their world.
this is why i really just have to laugh when someone tries to argue that transmasculinity is anti-feminist. can’t you see how much our mere existence makes the misogynists short-circuit? how much our transitions go directly against all of the expectations they put on us? transmasc transitions are in such direct opposition to their worldview that they resort to just treating us like we’re dead because our lives simply are not compatible with their version of how the world should be. we make ourselves so egregiously and irrevocably unfuckable to them that they’re actually going around unironically mourning the “loss” of our bodies.

Supreme court came down with two earth-shattering decisions this morning:
Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo allows courts to make decisions that used to be the job of federal agencies.
If the FDA says hormone treatments are safe, the court can now say "mmm, nah" and ban those treatments.
The court can ban mifepristone or miscarriage care contrary to medical experts.
The court can lower requirements by the EPA that regulates climate change.
The court can overrule trade rules by the FTC.
The court could require less safety regulation on airplanes.
And much much more!!
This is very very bad, and the way to solve this problem is by voting for Joe Biden so that he can replace Thomas and Alito when they die. If you care about marginalized communities, PLEASE vote.
City of Grant Pass v. Johnson says that criminalizing/fining people for sleeping outside (aka being homeless) isn't cruel and unusual punishment. It will punish people of color and disabled people disproportionately.
On my knees begging you to vote for Joe Biden. You cannot sit this one out. Activism is not tweeting or blogging. You are not helping by not exercising your right to vote, a right that can and will be taken from you if Joe Biden is not reelected.
Edit: they also dismissed some charges against January 6 defendants but quite frankly that is not as important, even though that's what everyone is freaking out about.

V: Gimme your hands. K: What, we holdin' hands now like some teens in the schoolyard? V: Hm-hm. K: Pff... yeah, okay, sure.
(he actually loves it, but he would never admit it)
ALSO.
;______________________;
I'm sorry for being such a tease but yeah... They're holding hands ;___; like some teens in love in the school yard ;___;
There's a few things iffy yet with one of the hand poses, details really but I'm a perfectionist always, in case you couldn't tell yet XD
Also, everything here is far from shareable yet, cause I'd like to do these as AMM addons eventually, currently they're just replacers. Also obviously I wanna make a whole pack with modular poses and whatnot because we need. hand. holding. poses!!! As many as possible for all the scenarios xD

WOO YEAH, got XnConvert and Hugin Panorama Creator running again! Next batch of photos will start posting within the next day or two, depending on how panorama-heavy the set is.
(Turns out Ubuntu 22.04 only comes with the Snap software manager, and XnConvert and Hugin are Flatpak. I had to install the Flatpak manager, and then I could get XnConvert and Hugin installed. But you're here for photos, not a play-by-play of my Linux User Problems™️.)

It is extremely disturbing how many posts I see claiming that Roe v. Wade was overturned on Biden's watch and blaming him and the Democratic Party for it. It's disturbing on a number of levels.
First, it was Trump and Bush-appointed justices who handed down the Dobbs decision. This is a flagrant example of blaming Democrats for things Republicans did, and not coincidentally is one of the the most widely felt differences between the two parties. As a result, it's usually the first example Democrats and their allies point to; this misappropriation suggests a deliberate attempt to undercut that fact.
Secondly, and related to the first point, it obfuscates who the real enemy is, and I am comfortable using word "enemy" to describe the Republican Party because of the policies they advocate and enact. The truth is that states controlled by the Republican Party were where the effects of Dobbs are most severely felt, while states controlled by the Democratic Party are passing laws to protect abortion. It is important to know which party opposes abortion and which party supports it. If the Republicans gain control of the House, Senate, and White House, they will pass a national abortion ban, as they have done at the state level in several places.
Thirdly, blaming Biden for Dobbs demonstrates a very concerning lack of understanding of how the government functions. The judiciary is its own branch of government; judges are appointed by the president and confirmed by the senate. It doesn't matter who is president when a decision is handed down, it matters who was president when the justices were appointed. People sometimes react to this by moving the goalposts and claiming the real issue was a failure by Democrats to "codify" Roe v. Wade. I am not sure what "codify" means in this context, and I'm not sure they are either. One thing it does not mean is that congress can pass a law saying "abortion is legal forever." Republicans could easily repeal such a law and it the federal government cannot necessarily prevent states from restricting abortion at the state level. Roe v. Wade was a ruling stating that the constitution guaranteed a right to privacy, which included the right to have an abortion. This prevented abortion restrictions in a way federal law cannot. That doesn't mean passing federal law protecting abortion is a bad idea, but it isn't a foolproof protection. It's fair to argue that the Democratic Party and the left of center generally were complacent about abortion. The form of this complacency was not taking the courts seriously, while the right spent fifty years openly filling the courts with anti-abortion judges.
The last thing that worries me is that this is popping up phrased almost the exact same way all over the place. I am afraid that it is not merely incompetence, but intentional misinformation, that is then repeated by the incompetent who believe it.
I know some will probably dismiss this post as being from a "vote harder" liberal Biden supporter, but whatever your feelings about Biden, the Democratic Party, or the democratic process in the U.S., you should care about the truth. The truth is that Roe v. Wade was overturned by Republican-appointed judges and abortion bans are being enacted by Republican elected officials, and Joe Biden opposes these things. You can do with that information whatever you wish, but you denying it is dishonest.

it’s okay to be angry and hate this shit and you’re right about this but you NEED to vote. local and state laws are always included in the elections. and biden is bad but when you don’t vote people like trump get elected into office and do things like turn the supreme court into a republican majority and take away abortion rights and actively support multiple state level and national level candidates who’s platforms are based on hate, which influences hateful people to vote FOR those candidates.
voting CAN fix this but you all have to register and vote. and show up to every single election every time. you have to research your local and state candidates on TOP of the ones running for president. you have to vote in the primaries.
it’s not like you can go and get mad and storm government buildings to guillotine public officials. if you try you’ll be up against the US military. the only reason the last attack on the capitol was successful is because if they succeeded in killing democratic officials it would benefit the party that holds the most power. and right wing candidates love to spend trillions on the military (and let’s be real, even the democrats do but the republicans do it to a higher degree) so guess who the military is going to protect? guess who the military is going to target as the enemy? do you really think any number of everyday citizens you can try to rally would stand a chance?
biden won’t fix this. your rage and your feelings of helplessness won’t fix it either. voting WILL. you just fall for the propaganda being spread that it’s pointless to vote because persuading far left anti fascists to feel that way keeps them out of the polling lines.
“nothing you do will change the system so why bother voting? it will always be this way, so any candidate that has a platform you support will never win and won’t be able to make change anyways” is also facist propaganda. it’s just targeted towards the opposition instead.
NPR is a great resource to keep informed on political issues. despite what right wing racists claim, it’s fairly unbiased and goes into detail to get the full story without leaving parts out intentionally to turn their stories into propaganda. and please just fucking vote. don’t listen to anyone who tells you it’s pointless and won’t fix anything so you might as well not bother. they’re fucking stupid and they are literally spreading facist propaganda. revolution is great but educating yourself and the people around you is far far more effective than getting angry at people online.
right now it’s almost halfway through 2023, and 2024 is an election year in the US. I have started to see a growing proliferation of posts suggesting that there is no difference between the republican and democratic parties–the exact same kind of posts I saw an awful lot of before the last major election here. I am unfollowing folks who post or reblog these sort of posts, as I consider these posts to be fascist propaganda framed as leftist discourse, designed to suppress anti-fascist votes and voters.
#literally every single young person falls for it every single time#because we are not completely facist yet you can still vote and make a difference#if you don’t more and more facist candidates will be elected and they will continually change the laws to give themselves absolute power#a centerist candidate that cares more about being elected and people pleasing is weak and ineffective#but when the alternative is a literal facist and you CAN VOTE to make that happen?#and enough people DID and it GOT THE FACIST PUT OF OFFICE#why would you fall for the lie that voting is pointless??#also roe v wade was passed because of trump changing the supreme court#he also used his influence to get more extremists like him into office#any law that is put into effect by the supreme court can’t be reversed by only one branch#because there are more far right republicans in office BECAUSE of trump’s facist propaganda#that supreme court decision has little hope of being repealed until those candidates are VOTED OUT#it has literally nothing to do with biden. he cannot repeal a supreme court decision#ONLY CONGRESS can do anything about it#this is misinformation#if he vetoed it immediately after congress passed it then congress can repeal the veto anyway#so instead his administration is trying to protect state laws that are proposed to keep abortion rights#but they have to be VOTED ON by congress which is a republican majority#and when congressional votes happen outside of presidential elections but you don’t vote in those because they ‘don’t matter’#guess who wins? and guess which party consistently shows up to EVERY ELECTION?#don’t fall for propaganda based on inciting an emotional response#learn how the government functions. it’s one of the most important things to do#so you can fully understand your rights as a citizen and the process by which change is made#and do your best to get it from unbiased sources even if the biased sources are saying what you want to hear#you have to show you WANT change by voting. a centerist candidate will base their decisions on what voters that show up to the polls want#to keep themselves in office#they don’t care about anything other than appealing to as many people as possible.#yeah i’m gonna get hate anons and hate mail for this one but idc it’s too important#letting this go unchallenged is not something that was gonna sit right with me#and saying it this way means people will read it. even if it makes them angry they still had to read the words
