Apprehension had been etched on the servant's face, but she gave them a weak smile, expressing how she was not asking them to lie and if he pressed further- they were encouraged to tell him everything. A concession easily made considering they knew very little, having found her well after the incident passed. Once alone, she slowly eased into her bath, nose wrinkling as tender skin dipped beneath steaming water. 

Flashes littered her mind. Noticing the others. Getting smacked. Forced against marble floors. Shouting interspersed with laughter. Receiving blows, kicks…. Gingerly rinsing herself she noted patches of yellow and light brown marring her skin. From what she could see, it appeared her arms and ribs received the brunt, a notion confirmed by memory, though her legs wore a fair share of marks as well. How was she supposed to reasonably conceal this?

“Feigning ill will only last so long.” Her words were a murmur, barely echoing before she devolved in a deep sigh. If she were to feign ill he would either grow suspicious, which was far from ideal, or divert his attention elsewhere, a far worse consequence. In either case it only served the end goals of those who victimized her. “And if I were to confess?” Would it not only incur more aggression? Her attention flickered to a pugio resting on the bath’s edge, fetched at her request the moment she was safe within her quarters. 

A while later she entered her main quarters, fabric draped over one shoulder concealing the pugio firmly in hand. All thoughts were focused solely on sinking into bed when a figure in her periphery made her hesitate. It happened in an instant. Anxiety sank its claws and without thinking, she whipped out her blade. “Leave. Me. Be.” Instinct demanded she flee or attack, yet ultimately she did neither, willing herself to remain still until they made a choice.

A mere beat passed before she realized it was Commodus. 

“Oh my-” Trembling fingers dropped the dagger, barely hearing it clang against the floor as she put distance between them. “I thought-” Frantic, she hastily covered herself. “I would never-”  

Who did this to you ?

“No one." Her words were too quick, too high-pitched. Cursing herself internally she forced a steadying breath. "It was a misunderstanding." With her free hand she pushed her hair to one side, wincing as fingers brushed a greenish-purple bruise behind her neck. Averting her gaze she retreated further, settling on her be to slip a blanket over her legs.

Oh, now here was a sight for sore eyes.

It had been far too many months since Rokshana had laid eyes on her dear friend- agonizing months none the less. She seemed to light up at the vision of the Jotunn, life meeting her somber eyes and bringing a gleam to the golden hues of her irises.

"Loki..." she said softly, hand outstretched to greet her. "You are a vision, dear. Come here, sit with me. It's been much too long..."

"hey, gorgeous. you look like someone put you through a thresher."

the statement is utterly untrue, and too warm to be intended as if she meant them, anyway—loki's at her bedside in an instant, taking rokshana's hand in hers, lowering her head to kiss the back of it. as if they'd only seen each other a few days ago, rather than months, as if not a single morsel of their friendship has been lost.

it hasn't, of course. not that loki feels she deserves that.

"your dad met me outside, but i think he's having some kind of nervous breakdown." she takes a seat, content to get small talk out of the way before anything else, get comfortable. "dracula with social anxiety was so not on my 2023 bingo card, but here we are."

of course he's aware that sunshine has no idea what she's talking about. lucky that the fans settled on sunshine, rather than victory. as she won't be seeing any of that, anytime soon. at least not with him. she's bold, at the very least. something he's always appreciated about her. those like her. fire cutting through his darkness, & illuminating space. like the stars he's modeled from. it's all in good fun, though. just wants to get beneath his skin. a decent technique, even if it had nothing to do with physical blows. omega knows better than anyone, that ofttimes mental damage is more effective in softening the physical blows. art in distraction. why it doesn't make sense, that it's hard for him to not get bothered by it. i don't think you know anything, omega. this is met with amusement. stomping once, with arms curling about his chest. crossed in wait, whilst he's mocking patience. yet, tail winds slowly in the air. quirking his brow ridge in amusement, & even bellowing a loud chuckle at her words. head tossed back for no more than a moment, with his head canting, heavily. smug. knowing these were all lies, until -- ears prick. tail pausing for one moment, before continuing. spine edging straight as a pin. "who told you that?" he finally turns, with a finger twitching beneath his arms. following sunny, whilst she circles him. not necessarily common knowledge, anyway.
