Yes yes! The first information we receive about Azul being stronger than he looks is from Floyd during Beanfest, who explains,

"Who said anything about Azul bein' weak without his magic? He's real strong. He's slow on land and in water, and he's got lousy athletic reflexes, but that doesn't mean he's weak."

"Azul's bigger than me in the water, and he's got eight huge, heavy limbs. His submission holds are bad news, and he's got crazy grip strength. If he so much as snags you, he can snare you with your arms pinned.

Octopi are, like, all muscle. Seems to me like that wouldn't go poof just 'cause he took a potion to turn himself human.

I'm just spitballin' here, obviously. But all I'm saying is that writing Azul off is a bad idea."

(All of the above dialogue is 100% accurate to the original game! Floyd's "I'm just spitballin' here" line might make it seems like he is just guessing and doesn't actually know, but his original line is closer to, "I don't know all the details," and sounds more like he knows this information is fact, he just can't give a physiology lesson on how it all works.)

But Floyd's information is a little vague: he says Azul has "crazy grip strength" and his "submission holds are bad news," but that is the same line where he talks about Azul in his merform--so is he talking about mer-Azul or human-Azul? Or is he not making a distinction because there isn't one?

Can Azul snare people and pin them down on land, or was Floyd half-relating an anecdote from when they lived underwater?

But then came Book 6 and a line from Azul himself saying that his "arms are quite powerful," unlike Riddle's.

This seems to confirm that Azul is physically stronger than most people, but then comes the thunder spear:

Riddle asks for help lifting it and Azul struggles under its weight, despite how this would have been the ideal opportunity to illustrate how physically capable Azul really is.

But maybe the thunder spears are a tall order for anyone to lift? They're weapons from the age of the gods--maybe they just weren't designed for humans (or creatures in human form) to lift on their own?

Except:

There is Leona, who both lifts and wields the thunder spear entirely on his own, twice (he gets help from Jamil the third time).

But the rules of the thunder spears are unclear: after Team-OctaHearts' spear goes into energy-saving mode Riddle says, "I should be able to handle it now on my own," insinuating that when they are not in attack-mode they are easier to wield.

Azul carries it at first but, due to his infamously poor stamina, he does eventually give it up to Riddle.

When Azul comments on how easy RIddle makes carrying the spear look Riddle explains, "I spend most of my time learning magic. I have ever since I was born," insinuating that he is using a form of magic (perhaps levitation) to carry it and maybe does not have it physically in his arms at all.

(Vil explains that the spears are difficult to control in attack-mode due to the amount of energy they give off.)

And that asks questions about levitation that I have always wondered about!

During Glorious Masquerade Epel is only capable of carrying one crate of apples at a time.

When Malleus levitates an entire apple truck Epel comments, "I'm pretty sure only Malleus could pull off a feat like that…"

Are levitation and physical strength connected? Malleus says that he is physically stronger than humans even without his magic, so he does not serve as a good example.

Is Epel only capable of levitating one crate of apples because that is the limit of what he would be able to accomplish physically? Or do his magical limitations mirror his physical limitations by coincidence?

We know that Leona is extremely powerful (re: Leona's Power). Is Leona both physically stronger than an octopus mermaid and magically stronger than Azul, or is Azul physically stronger than Leona, but his magic wasn't enough for the spear?

And then there is the fact that Azul is, magically, extremely strong:

Jade comments that Azul's unique magic is too strong for even him to control (which is why he designed the golden contracts--to artificially rein himself in). Does that apply to all of Azul's magic, or is it just his UM?

Someone with the muscle of an octopus and a magic too strong to be wielded by its own user seems like they should be able to control a thunder spear on their own--but maybe Leona is just that strong? 🦁

In a vignette we have Azul volunteering to carry a load of wood for Kalim. He pretends to be struggling under the weight in order to leave a lasting impression of his efforts, but as we cannot tell how much wood there is that he is hauling it can be difficult to tell how heavy it truly is--but then there is Vargas👀

At Trey's request, Jade and Azul are assigned the task of evacuating a bound Grim and Vargas from the mine. Jade takes Grim and runs away, leaving Azul behind alone with the prefect to handle Vargas--did he know that Azul would not struggle with carrying him?💪

Azul does ask for the prefect's help, but only because he is worried about bumping Vargas' head against the rocks--he does not say anything about struggling to carry him!

And this sounds very similar to a comment from Malleus on carrying Idia and Azul through the narrow stairwells of the bell tower during Glorious Masquerade! 🐉🐙

Honestly Anon, you're so right.

Chapter 7 is so interesting for Octavinelle - largely because we do get to see so much of how they think of each other and themselves, and we get to see so much of their relationship with each other. Honestly the shippers are thriving, but so are so many Jade and Floyd fans.

CW: Spoilers, Twisted Wonderland Character Shipping and mentions of Neurodivergence under the cut in case that isn't your cup of tea. It's very long and examines Floyd and Riddle's and Jade and Azul's dynamics throughout TWST and is sort of Character Analysis as well. Special note that there are Visual spoilers under the cut that will spoil some of the jokes from this chapter, so proceed with caution.

First, Floyd, who we see is outright distraught when everything goes right. Honestly at this point it makes me, as an ADHD person, struggle to not view Floyd as also having ADHD. I tend to not actually assign the characters neurodivergence or diagnose them, but honestly his characteristics really point to him being understimulated and just generally miserable because he's not doing anything and that's boring him. I have heard this from so many other folks with ADHD and have experienced it myself. I think, truth be told, that Floyd is a really good picture of a young person with ADHD. Especially as someone who was just properly diagnosed later in life - I would get these random, massive intense moods and would never be able to explain them until I began to suspect I had ADHD. If we consider Floyd's general characterization - he hates to be 'bored', he hates to force himself to do things that he doesn't want to do, he had random, intense moods, randomly struggling with some academics while really excelling in the things that interest him, comparing himself to other people and not understanding why he's different ... like, yeah, as a person with ADHD I relate to him so much. It's so interesting to me because Japan in general has a lot of medical bias against diagnosing and managing neurodiversity, so I think generally speaking, he's honestly a really well written example of someone who is struggling. I think his portrayal is probably so important for young people who play the game because it makes them feel normal and accepted, and I can't deny that.

And then Floyd and Riddle... these two are so funny. Like, if you had to ask me any character that shows having a crush on someone else canonically, I would probably point to Floyd and how he acts with Riddle. Considering that they're teenagers and we know neither he nor Riddle have any experience dating (none of the characters except Ace really do), I think it's really charming because like... are they annoying the fuck out of each other? Yeah, and I think that's pretty realistic for people who are 17 who have crushes on each other. Of course, I don't want to say I support people annoying or antagonizing their partners, but they are young people who are still learning how life works. I realize that teasing =/= having a crush on someone, but like...

In the recent stitch event they had this dialogue

Riddle gets so genuinely happy when Floyd praises him. Even Jack takes note of it. And then in Floyd's Labwear...

This interaction is so telling of the sort of relationship that they have with one another - first Floyd interprets their interactions as playing. Second, Riddle takes note that Floyd is in a bad mood which means that Riddle pays enough attention to him to notice when he's having a bad day. And then you have Jade over there just like 👀. It's so goofy but it's kind of wholesome also because it shows that in spite of everything, Riddle still shows concern for Floyd and Jade is a nosy sibling.

I don't know how many people have actually read the comic anthology, but there's a side story with Floyd and Riddle where Riddle is trying to study how to control himself better following his OB and Floyd, of course, comes to bother him and notices him reading advanced books and that ends in this interaction.

Like, is Floyd being a shit? Yes, of course, but he also doesn't take it back when he says that he thinks that it's admirable that Riddle works hard.

They really are the duality. Please enjoy this too-high effort shitpost I made.

And then add the fact that in the most recent story chapters the thing that gets Floyd to wake up is Silver and Jamil reminding him of the entrance ceremony where Riddle threw him through the air, and Floyd essentially being like "Yeah goldfishie is fun that was fun" and that being what snaps him out of it? Like these two are fated to irritate the hell out of each other by the story itself.

Also I think it's such a funny cute touch that the reason Floyd even started irritating Riddle is because Riddle couldn't control his temper and flung him. Floyd was just being curious, and while, yeah he probably should have asked before he touched Riddle's hair because he was curious if it would feel hot, Riddle immediately rose to meet his energy, and generally speaking we know that Floyd is a physically motivated person. He likes to fight, and he likes to test his strength. No one else caused a scene at the Sophomore orientation except Riddle. You know, the character that is almost entirely focused on not breaking rules? Riddle painted a massive target on his own back with his temper. And honestly, what I think does make it work is that even though Floyd teases Riddle literally all the time, he does respect Riddle. Riddle is interesting to him because he's strong and reacts when Floyd irritates him. As I said before, on Floyd's end at least, the antagonism is playful, and considering Floyd's relationship with Jade and Azul it's easy to see why. It's how he was raised to view affection from friends and peers.

Now, how about Riddle's side of things? Well, while we don't get a ton of canon crumbs from Riddle, there's at least a few things that we do get. We know that Riddle sort of resents that Floyd teases him, but he has been told multiple times by other people that Floyd is just trying to get a rise out of him. And yet, every time Floyd compliments Riddle and then immediately starts teasing him, Riddle falls for it. On some level, I'm sure it's because Riddle likes the attention just as much as Floyd, even if for a different reason. Riddle gets put down a lot - from his dorm and from his own mother. But even if Floyd teases him, Floyd also gasses him up because, like I said, Floyd genuinely thinks highly of Riddle. Riddle gets complimented and he gets smug about it because he thinks highly of himself, and it probably feels good to have that recognized.

Compare Riddle's interactions with Floyd to the ones he has with Jade, for example.

There are a couple reasons why I feel like this is important to note. First, Riddle recognizes that Jade is making fun of him immediately. Riddle also misses Jade's sarcasm. Riddle isn't good at reading Jade - he finds Jade unpredictable and malicious, and interprets this as Jade making fun of him. In contrast, you don't see Riddle outright refuse a compliment from Floyd - he knows that Floyd is being upfront about how he feels when he says the things he does, but he doesn't know that about Jade. Riddle is also the butt of the joke here, whereas if we compare it to the similar situation that he went through with Floyd during the Tropical Turbulence event.

Floyd is teasing Riddle, yes, but in this situation he isn't making Riddle the butt of the joke, he's just causing a little bit of chaos. Floyd already has a plan in place, but Riddle the two aren't arguing with each other. It's also important to note that Floyd is one of the few characters outside of his dorm that Riddle really banters with comfortably.

The other thing is that though they compete with and annoy each other, Floyd and Riddle are actually genuinely pretty nice to each other otherwise. They both compliment each other pretty frequently even if they usually pepper in barbs as they do.

Floyd and Riddle are also pretty similar people, too:

At any rate, that's a lot of screenshots to basically say, yes they do make fun of each other and tease each other, but when they do get onto the same page, they work very well together and seem to have a mutual respect for each other even if they criticize each other. They can identify the aspects in each other that they can't identify in themselves and it makes their chemistry interesting because every time they share screentime it seems like they learn from each other.

Anyway, Florid fans eat well literally any time these two share screen time.

And then Jade and Azul... honestly those two cracked me up the entire time.

First you have Jade's dream with his god awful imagination. Jade literally gets the knockoff versions of Azul and Floyd as I said in the first post about it, but I think it's interesting to see how he perceives both of them. I'll be including images this time.

I'll start with Floyd because HOO buddy if I was Floyd and had to endure this shit.

This is an actual crime.

That being said, Floyd is noticeably more childish in Jade's dream than the actual Floyd is in reality, both in his rather immature visage as well as a more child-like way of speaking.

It's worth noting, in Floyd's dream, Floyd doesn't really pay much attention to where Jade is, and he doesn't really pay any attention to where Azul is either. He says "Eh, Jade's probably with Azul on land because the Mostro Lounge was succeeding." Floyd also makes a point of saying that it's a rule between the three of them - they don't have to stick together - if they don't want to do something, then they won't stick together and whoever wants to do it can do it on their own, or if they don't want to involve someone in something, they don't involve them in it. (Ironically, I would argue that this is one of the healthier dynamics for friendship in TWST that we see. All three of them have discussed and come to understand that if they need to separate ways, they will, they don't want to hold each other back from the things they enjoy.)

Jade on the other hand, and whether Floyd likes it or not, seems to view Floyd as a younger brother. We don't get confirmation as to whether or not Jade hatched first or if Floyd hatched first, but regardless of whichever it is, it seems like Jade views Floyd as his younger brother, and seems to have an instinct to coddle him, even if this portrayal of Floyd is deeply unflattering to Floyd and starts a whole fight.

It's also of note: Floyd didn't expect to be in Jade's dream at all. Floyd talks about how he figures that Jade has just dreamed about him in a similar way that Floyd had dreamed of Jade - off doing whatever he wanted to do. That's not true - Floyd is there, with Jade, and engaging in Jade's interests.

In Jade's official EN school uniform home tap he says:

Though some translations tend to interpret this line differently, and essentially instead say that Floyd is clingier than he seems.

The reason I'm pointing this out is because Jade is the only one of the three who's primary dream features all three of them together. This would seem to point toward Jade actually being the one who's clingier, and to being the one who's most attached to both of them. I can't really say for certain, but I almost wonder if Jade has a bit of a fear of abandonment with regard to Azul and Floyd and that's why his ideal dream world is one where they're both so reliant on him.

And then Azul...

Seriously though, I think it's kind of interesting to see how Azul is portrayed in Jade's imagination.

For reference, here's what Azul actually looks like in his mer form in the same pose.

The thing I immediately noticed is Azul's eyes. Sure, the image Jade has of Azul is a JJBA joke, but there's something else I want to point out about them in particular.

Azul's eyes are an entirely different, brighter color. In fact, it's also a different color from Azul's overblot eye color as well.

We know that Jade's limited imagination means he's working on his own impressions of Floyd and Azul and you're telling me that Jade's impression of Azul is that he looks like a character from a manga known for being about handsome, fabulous men and that he has ginormous, bright, shiny blue eyes that look like sapphires? Hello?????? Jade???

I think this is fascinating because had they just drawn Azul as like a normal old JJBA reference but kept his color palette the same, I could see it just being explained as "oh, neat, Jade thinks Azul is handsome when Azul doesn't" but follow me with this: Jade's imagination is painting them in broad strokes the way that Epel's imagination was doing in his dream. These are Jade's impressions of Floyd and Azul.

Floyd tracks - he sees Floyd as a younger brother and someone he inherently wants to take care of, even if it's not realistic. Floyd is a childish younger brother in a cartoonish way. Azul is motivated by money in a cartoonish way. These are the traits that stick out the most about the both of them to Jade.

So when Jade imagines Azul physically what he sees is Azul being handsome AND that he has these shiny bright blue eyes even if his memory gets the shade of blue wrong. Jade....... honey................ I need you to sit down when I tell you this..........

And then after he and Floyd fight, because Jade is too stubborn to wake up because he can't grasp that what he's seeing is wrong, the thing that finally triggers him to realize something is off is this version of dream Azul checking on him after the fight and being relieved he's okay and then saying that he's afraid he would have lost his "かわいい部下".

The thing that triggers Jade to start waking up is Azul calling Jade his cute subordinate (essentially his cute assistant). I am not exaggerating this. That is literally the phrase that triggers Jade. Jade even repeats it.

AND HE FUCKING PANICS

JADE. I AM BEGGING THE SECONDHAND CRINGE THIS MADE ME FEEL.

From there the dream Floyd of course says he's going to cry if Jade left him and like that just seals the deal. And everyone is super impressed because Jade realized it was wrong by himself and woke himself up.

I don't tend to insert my opinions much in my post but there is not a single person on this planet that is not going to make me believe that Jade did not just gay panic himself awake. I feel like most queer people have experienced something just like this. Jade literally wakes himself up because he's like "no, wait, hold on, Azul wouldn't say that, right?" and then Floyd saying he's going to cry sells it. Dream Azul essentially just fucking "baby girl"ed him and Jade was like "no, actually, that's too cringe for me to even dream about".

Then you have Azul's dream. Honestly there aren't a lot of crumbs there for Jade, but I think it's sort of sweet how even if they're sort of forced to, Jade and Floyd don't want to force Azul to do anything. They have a lot of respect for each other's personal boundaries, and they were fully prepared to let Azul stay asleep and allow him to work it out himself if he wanted to wake up. It doesn't end up working out that way, but it's not hard to tell that both the twins and Azul had respect for each other as individuals.

Another neat thing is that Azul is one of the few people who's dreams aren't inherently things he really wants. They're more of "what-if" scenarios. What if Azul was good at sports and ended up being a high school athlete? What if Azul actually got to follow through on burning that picture of his younger self and then opened a Mostro Lounge branch? I think it's interesting that Azul seems to be kept in these dreams because his imagination is vivid, and not because they're an ideal world perse. In a sense they are - but Azul himself admits that he doesn't really want either of them.

Azul gets so much growth shown in this chapter. He ends up wanting to wake up because he wants to live for himself, and not live for what other people think of him or having to rely on them. Azul still wants to succeed, but he wants to succeed for himself and not because he feels a need to one up the people that bullied him, and he wants to be fulfilled in himself. He's actually working on his mental health, I love that for him.

And, one more thing of note, I think it's so fucking cool that at the end of the book, Azul doesn't freak out about other people seeing him in his true form. In fact, he doesn't freak out about seeing himself in his true form when Idia makes a proxy version of him - he's just thinking about how cool it would be to have a second version of himself. I feel like most people have gotten the sense that Azul has a sense of self-loathing regarding his mer-form, but it seems like if he did at some point, he's made peace with it.

Anyway that's an unnecessarily long infodump about my feelings about the character relationships that we've got in the new update. Like obnoxiously long. So, uh... I'll just end the post with Azul's smiling sprite because I just think it's fucking adorable.

What did you think about Jade's role in the latest book 7 chapter? I found it hilarious how between the tweel's dreams his was more chaotic. It was also funny how they brought up Jade's motion sickness since I think the only moments it's been shown was in flight class and I think in Vil's playful land vignette after a rollercoaster ride. I'm really curious about your own highlights ^~^

Honestly, I felt pretty meh about Jade’s involvement in the Octavinelle update 😅

***Book 7 part 10 spoilers below the cut!!***

His own dream segment was alright, it got a few chuckles out of me (though as expected, we didn’t really learn anything significantly new about Jade because of the shallow nature of the dream). Jade’s crybaby dream!Azul was about what I expected, but his dream!Floyd certainly wasn’t. The goofy face on his twin… It made me wonder how Jade truly sees Floyd. Does that weird face mean Jade sees his brother—who comes off as imposing to many others—as cute and harmless? Or does that mean Jade actually looks down on Floyd and thinks of him as a simpleton who likes to eat…? It’s hard to tell (personally I like the former interpretation), but it’s been fun looking at the different perspectives of the same information.

Something I find interesting is that the twins’ moments of waking mirror each other’s usual approaches to a task. Floyd usually foregoes a plan and prefers to use his fists to get the job done. However, he is slowly roused by reminiscing about his memories at NRC and the promise of being presented with a challenge. The final blow that shocks him awake is the presentation of a dream!Azul and dream!Jade who attempt to lure him deeper into the dream. Floyd doesn’t fall for it; in fact, he gets mad instead, and that fury, so biting and clear, snaps him awake. The opposite is true for Jade. He is someone who meticulously plans before acting, and would rather control the circumstances and use other roundabout methods before resorting to violence. But ironically, the master manipulator Jade is the one who falls for his own dream’s manipulations—all because he trusts himself above all else. He only wakes up because of a very strong physical force (ie Sebek’s UM) striking him. Prior to this, Jade was putting up a very good fight and the blows be was taking were not sufficient to wake fully him. So… Floyd, the brother who prefers brawns, woke up after reflecting and experiencing strong cognitive dissonance between his fake reality and bis true reality. Jade, the brother who prefers brains, woke up after being smacked the right amount. They woke up after experiencing an intense shock related to what is essentially the opposite of their preferred problem solving strategies.

I liked seeing Jade and Floyd fight! Book 7 is showing us a lot of things that were brief off-handed mentions elsewhere (like how Rook used to be in Savanaclaw, how Lilia is a war vet, etc.). The twins having violent brawls was previously brought up in Floyd’s Beach Wear vignettes, and it’s nice to be able to view the full extent of it ourselves. Floyd was NOT joking when he said they got into serious fights…

I have mixed feelings about Jade’s behavior within Azul’s dream. I’m NOT saying any of this is out of character or that all of his moments were bad. There were lots of little standouts (like Jade’s motion sickness, the passive aggressive “Azul-san”, smashing up the restaurant, and, of course, him and Floyd grabbing onto Azul and then trusting him to make it out on his own before choosing to let him go). Unfortunately, there were just as many examples of Jade wasting time and meandering, which I was a little annoyed about. The world might be done for if y’all don’t hurry it up 😭 You do NOT have the time to casually smash plant pots or to sit idly by and go “…………” while you watch Azul act like an idiot. I know you have a bigger brain than THAT, Jade. If you already knew what Azul’s weak point was, then you should be acting on it much sooner, not wasting my time like this.

I can see the reasoning for some of this to an extent. Jade is the type of person to drag things out; he wants to enjoy the show as others struggle to attain what they desire. The problem is that this segment still feels… forced or artificially drawn out simply because of the already established pattern of “well we gotta dedicate more time to the OB boy, we have so many other novel assets and scenarios to show off!!” There continues to be so little urgency while prioritizing showing off new assets or even things that seem cool in concept but may be lacking in execution because of how fast new stuff is being thrown at us. It’s just so frustrating because it creates this domino effect where the implication is that Jade doesn’t seem to be taking the situation seriously even though he, as an individual who is skilled in reading others + pinpointing their weaknesses AND as one of Azul’s close aide, should automatically clock what would reasonably wake him. But nooooo, Jade doesn’t do it right away because HEY, we need to create contrived scenarios where he, Floyd, and Azul have to use their UMs once each. Why? Because we have to follow the patterns we’ve already established in the updates before theirs! No other reason, we’re not allowed to stray from the formula! This is even worse when you think about how Jade was somehow unable to deduce that Azul would have moved the contracts to his own room… Like shouldn’t that be the FIRST place you think of, Jade????? No??? Is this an excuse so you can waste time using your Mouse mandated UM on dream!Jade to get the location??? 🤡 Okay, I guess…

The one last thing I have to note is that I’m so glad his and Floyd’s Groovies don’t show them crying. I feel like a lot of people were anticipating that because we previously had Kalim and Rook breaking down… However, it would be remiss to equate all the characters as being as emotional as those latter two are. (Lilia, Sebek, and Ortho were also limited story cards and none of them featured crying.) That’s not to say that I think the twins are incapable of expressing intense sadness, it’s that I don’t think they’d shed tears while attacking each other or Azul. Not crying doesn’t make Jade and Floyd “worse” or “less emotionally available”. It, in fact, alludes to the strength of the trio’s bond. It means they trust the others to be strong enough to take the hits, to fight back and to survive. The same thing is demonstrated when Jade and Floyd willingly let go of Azul and allow him to sink into the darkness, even wishing him well before they do. And to that, Azul just says the same to them (in a smug tone). These three trust each other, and that is why the twins don’t shed tears; how can they cry when they fully believe the ones they’ve chosen to spend their time with are strong enough to make it out on their own?

Overall, I just 💦 do not like the rigid skeleton of these dreams… (which I’ve already expressed before here!) I’m so tired of the same thing back to back, and no matter how many details they try to change to make it cool or feel unique, it always comes at the cost of pacing or, in this case, some character integrity being removed. xbjsvskwjekw Maybe I’m just more sensitive about this since I hate it when a smart character has to actively be dumbed down in order to progress the plot in a certain way. This is a much more subtler of a dumbing down than what book 2 did with Leona, but… It still doesn’t leave me feeling very good 😔 If anyone has played the first Ace Attorney game, this feels a LOT like that part in case 2 where Phoenix is too dumb to check the back of a receipt until Mia literally tells him to. The character has to actively be made stupider because the scenario calls for it, and that really rubs me the wrong way.

Riddle

While he would usually hate noises when he doesn't expect them (ie loud voices in the library caused by Ace and Deuce) he absolutely loves your singing

Will he tell you this to your face? No, probably not at first. He has made hints towards it in the past, saying things like "hey you sound really good!" but then there's the part where suddenly you get a whole background cast singing with you. NOW he's shooketh

I think he would've first thought it was a bit weird? Like is this your unique magic? But overall, I think he wouldn't mind as long as it doesn't cause any damage or breaks any of the Queen of Hearts' rules

Definitely try to get some of the animals that are around the dorm gardens to sing or at least dance with you like they do in Disney films lol. I think he would find it adorable

Leona

He found it annoying but then got used to it haha. Like he just thinks it's funny now when you suddenly burst into song and the whole classroom gets filled with passing students also singing about how Professor Crewel's class is too hard

You singing alone though, he loves. He's also too shy to tell you upfront but you have definitely caught him looking at you with a warm look in his eyes when you hum and accidentally get eye contact

Probably assumes this whole musical situation is your unique ability. If it's not, he's just confused even more. I think you should use it during a Spelldrive competition!

Have you tried waking him up using this? Definitely will make him throw a pillow at your face, but it might be worth a funny prank

Azul

While he says he loves the arts, he was not expecting musical theater as his forefront. Now he's here, with whom he sees as the love of his life, singing and dancing about how you are going to get "your head in the game" for Spelldrive with like 30 other students

He's not the greatest with crowds, but does find it somewhat amusing how you are able to conjure up so many people at once. Does this mean the Monstro Lounge gets hella packed from time to time on accident? Maybe!

I think he would love you singing by yourself and will constantly tell you this. Ursula much? He probably tried to steal your voice when you two first met haha. Either way, he wants to hear you a lot

Believes it's your unique magic whether or not you think so. I think he'll be stubborn about it for some reason. But! He does think it's really cool, perhaps you could teach him how you make it happen

Kalim

Absolutely loves it! He's also singing along if it happens to be a song he knows. For example, everyone suddenly bursting into "Prince Ali" would be awesome!

Does Jamil appreciate this? From time to time like when Scarabia is throwing a party then it's sort of like a big moment and you're technically helping him with managing the whole event.

Kalim also isn't shy about telling you that your voice is amazing. He's probably said that first when you two met and you were mindlessly humming to yourself while doing homework with him.

If it happens to be your unique ability I think he would think it's the coolest one he's ever witnessed (even though he can basically conjure water). Definitely sing tunes he knows, since that will make students and him all join

Vil

Y'all were made for each other haha

While Vil is strict and loves quiet times, he's also a theater kid at heart. You two know basically every musical song out there so whenever you burst into song, not only will students (maybe animals?) join you but he might as well!

You guys need to do duets PLZ. It will be soooooooo cute. Sure, that doesn't mean 40 other students will suddenly start singing so it's not as big, but it's very heartfelt. I think he would love random singing

If it's your unique ability, he definitely thinks it's cool. Just keep in mind not to cause a musical to erupt when he's stressed out though, since that could result in him laughing or throwing magic in your direction

Idia

He hates crowds. The first time you caused "That's How You Know Her" to begin in the middle of you two hanging out at the courtyard he ran away because you made literally every student in the periphery start dancing and singing

He thinks you have a beautiful voice. He's shy about telling you this, but I think he would absolutely cherish every tune you hum or sing. If you happen to record them, he keeps it on a device so he can listen to you when he's sad

If this is your unique ability I think he would be amazed since this doesn't seem like weak magic at all. He does wonder if you enjoy crowds a lot since you cause people to join you for a little musical number, but overall he does think it's neat

I would say he appreciates you singing alone more than in a crowd. Ortho, on the other hand, might appreciate your big musical numbers more!

Malleus

Thinks it's really neat, he loves the energy you bring!

He wasn't expecting a big turnout for his birthday party at all when he invited you, but seeing so many fellow Diasomnia students very wholesome made him tear up a bit :')

Outside of your musical endeavors, I think he also appreciates your voice a lot. He can sing (literal evidence in the games) but he doesn't do it often. He likes to listen to you more than anyone else, but you two should totally do duets

If this happens to be your magic, then he's impressed! It's not every day that someone can make people appear out of nowhere or people nearby join you in a musical number. If Malleus is proud, then you should know you're literally one of the strongest magic users out there haha

You gave a pointed glare at Grim, who looked up from licking his paw, and sighed heavily.

"A-alone?" Crowley stuttered.

You leaned forward, the threat clear in your voice. "Grim is the one who blew up the lab, so he should do your little task. Something wrong with that?"

"No! You-you've been so generous up to this point, Y/N."

You gave an unconvinced look, before turning on your heel, and leaving the office.

He flipped the page of his newspaper from home. It's not like his mother would fill him in, so he had to fill himself in. 

He was done with his business by now, he just needed a break!

Startled, he looked up, momentarily blinded by the flash. As his vision cleared, he saw Grim look at a camera, nod, and scamper off. In his shock, he couldn't even utter an "off with your head".

Azul threaded his fingers through Jade's hair, momentarily playing with the long black strand, before closing his eyes again, and just being in the moment.

He knew Jade made jokes like that, because, in the moment, he liked the way a stiff Azul would cling to him just a miniscule amount tighter.

He didn't truly mean it. He knew Azul was terrified about people calling him soft, and if people assumed Jade had gotten his position solely for being Azul's boyfriend-

Both mers had miniscule panic attacks. While they had grown accustomed to land, they were used to living in near solid darkness. Whatever just flashed in their faces, felt truly unnatural.

"This is a surprise," Jade heard a well known voice mutter.

If it weren't for his poor boyfriend, he could have taken care of the problem right there.

As much as Epel hated Vil's nagging, his skin had never been better.

A cold cream on his face, cucumber on his eyes, a bubble bath with foam specifically designed to make him sparkle?

Sevens, his nighttime routine was the part that was worth putting up with Vil's nag sessions for. 

He took the cucumbers off his eyes, looked around to make sure no one was watching, and made himself a bath foam beard.

"Oh ho ho, Sir Humphreys, are you jealous of my excessive manliness?" Epel boomed in a comically deep voice.

*SNAP*

You get the idea by now. Epel inhaled some of his foam beard, choked a bit, and completely missed whoever took the photo.

"Oh! Prefect, I didn't see you there!" Malleus gasped, bowing deeply before a stone gargoyle in a set of ruins he was exploring.

"What? Run away with you?" He covered his mouth in shock, before sidling into the "lap" of the gargoyle/prefect .

"I'm not saying no," he gently caressed where you collarbone would be, his facing moving closer to "your" face. "This is all just," he breathed heavily against "your" mouth, "so sudden."

*SNAP*

….

"As you all remember, we are having a beauty pageant at NRC."

Everyone nodded.

"Well, in my generosity, I remembered that candid shots allow the photo to look more natural, which in turn accentuates your natural beauty. So I have had Grim taking photos of you-"

"That's what those are for?" Ace shouted. "He snapped a picture of me eat-" he trailed off as he side eyed Riddle, "doing some stuff."

The Heartslaybul vice housewarden gave him a suspicious glare, but luckily Riddle himself was distracted.

"It is not okay to take photos of people on the toilet! Candid or not!" Riddle shouted, face turning a crimson it hadn't even been during his overblot.

"My nephew is not legally allowed to be photographed!"

"I have an image to uphold! An expensive image to uphold."

"MY LIEGE WILL SMITE YOU BEFORE ANYONE SEES HIS SHAME!"

Malleus was greatly regretting actually being invited to a meeting.

"Monsieur fuzzball, shall we have a chat about the photos you took of me?" Rook asked with a smile, his eyes flickering venomously.

"I deleted yours," Grim whispered with a shiver.

"Tres Bien," Rook smiled, rustling the top of Grim's head.

"Well let's see what all this is about," Trein moved to grab the camera, but every single student in the area started yelling and grabbing at it.

"Bad boys! Sit!" Crewel shouted with a smack of his pointer. But it seemed to no avail, as a crowd of angry mages chased a tiny gray cat out of the room.

Trein, meanwhile, was laughing uproariously as he scrolled through the photos.

Any headcanons for Jamil, Azul, Malleus and Idia falling for and dating a female SO with a similar personality as the heroine of those movies? (Like Jamil falling for a girl with a similar personality as Jasmine, for example.)

Azul Ashengrotto: 

You’re naïve but cute. Azul hadn’t really seen himself falling for someone like you, someone who seemed so full of life and cheerful. He thought he would at least fall for someone who was a little more business focused but it seemed you thirsted for knowledge more than money. He thought he might have some use for you but in the end, he realized he enjoyed your company regardless of you helping him in some scheme or not.

Idia Shroud: 

It’s not like Idia thought you could beat him in a fight, even if that might be true. It was more that you were bolder than he was, and you weren’t the type to run away from confrontation. He did think you were funny when you insulted the normies or set them straight but the minute your attention turned to him he became a shrinking violet. Your personalities don’t mesh well but Idia would appreciate having someone who would be willing to stand up for him, and who would gladly take attention off of him just with their striking beauty.

Jamil Viper: 

Jamil finds his wits are properly matched by you. You seemed to be the no-nonsense type and you didn’t fall for Kalim’s overly friendly charms, keeping him at arms length despite him not being a threat at all. He found himself interested but also keeping a careful distance, curious about the type of person you were. You seemed to be adventurous and intelligent but he wondered if there was a more devious side to you, as you seemed to be a person that many underestimated (and he would do no such thing). 

Malleus Draconia: 

Your quieter nature didn’t put Malleus off, in fact, it made him a little more comfortable with you. Even if conversation didn’t flow freely the silence was comfortable, one where verbal communication wasn’t truly needed. When you did finally begin talking to one another it felt like an endless conversation where you talked about your dreams forever. Malleus could ignore the important future looming ahead by talking to you about lighter topics, listening to your hopelessly romantic dreams and wishing he could indulge you.

We only ever see Yuu flustering Azul. I need smooth confident Azul rizzing up Yuu so hard they go as red as Riddle. It'll be funny if it's entirely by accident.

Funnily enough, Yuu actually gets flustered more often than Azul! I don't remember drawing Azul flustered by Yuu that often I think... but here's some examples of Azul successfully making his boyfriend flustered!

Yuu is a clasically trained actor, so he is better at controling and hiding his emotions, but he is also a huge romantic. Being raised on classic Kabuki plays and never having dated before, Yuu has a very idealized view of romance, and its actually really easy to fluster him as long as you know what clicks for him.

In fact I've been meaning to write a fic about it. When Yuu and Azul started dating after GloMasq, Yuu was actually very tense and nervous as he had no idea what to do as a boyfriend, and he often went a little overboard with being the perfect partner whilst also getting too nervous to be physically affectionate with Azul. This makes things awkward between them for a bit, but they slowly start to realize that their relationship status shouldn't weigh so much on their interactions, since the chemistry they had as friends was what drew them to each other in the first place. So they both start to rekindle that kind of comfortable company they used to enjoy from each other. This time, though, they don't need to hold back their feelings and allow themselves to show their affection for each other more freely hehe

Here is the thing about us and characters’ virginity: it kind of resets all the time lol Because we’re multishippers + also love to play around with different scenarios, there’s rarely one just one headcanon that we keep in mind. For some, like Diasomnia boys for example, it’s generally the same every time, but someone like Idia is cursed to wake up being a virgin every day no matter what happens to him in our stories and posts lol I’ll try to mention different scenarios, but the possibilities are truly endless.

Riddle would lose his virginity to either Trey or Floyd. Ace is also technically an option, but for some reason I imagine him either entrusting his vulnerable self to Trey or doing something truly reckless with Floyd and maybe regretting it later lol We actually have a post about his first time with Floyd… No matter what happens though, Riddle won’t stay a virgin by the end of his time in NRC, even though he intended not to have sex until he gets married.

Trey’s first would probably be Riddle, but I can also imagine him having sex with some nameless character maaaybe when he was a freshman. He seems more experienced somehow, and also like someone who is much hornier than he looks lol But maybe he just watches too much porn.

Cater doesn’t remember who was his first, or at least he says that he doesn’t. Maybe it was some girl from one of his previous schools… or was it a boy? He didn’t even get to cuddle with them properly, so it’s a bit of a blur. He went through a phase when he tried to score a lot of “firsts” in just one week, I guess.

DEUCE AND ACE!!! There are options lol I know we like to joke about Ace being a forever virgin and Deuce being kind of a hoe, but I actually quite like the idea of these two being each other’s firsts. Because it definitely won’t be as nice as it sounds, and they do look like someone who would want to “explore things” and go too far. The tension these two have is just way too insane.

I also ironically (based on how many replies we have on this topic…) don’t really think that Deuce would sleep around in NRC, even if he tried to make Ace mad. That being said, I do think that it’s quite possible for him not to be a virgin. He used to be quite a bad boy after all, so one of his gang member could have been his first. Or was it that police guy he mentioned at one point? Could’ve been either.

ACE… is way too funny to make fun of because he’s a virgin lol but I’m pretty sure Deuce would be his first. Unless we’re going an AceRiddle route, and that would be absolutely disastrous.

Leona lost his virginity a long time ago and he absolutely won’t tell who the lucky person was. He wouldn’t refuse to reply either, he would just roll over to his other side and yawn, making it seem like he didn’t hear your question. What is he hiding..?

Ruggie actually does remember his first time because it was the moment he realised that he can make a lot of money doing this stuff! It was probably some rich guy whose identity Ruggie won’t reveal for obvious reasons, but Ruggie still remembers him fondly.

Jack is a virgin! >:C He waits until he falls in love with someone special he wants to spend his life with! But he’s still either end up having his virginity taken either by Epel, Deuce or Vil. The first two would be very spontaneous, passionately sloppy and anxious. If it happens with Vil, it’ll look more like Jack being tamed.

Azul is absolutely a virgin lol And while I love him with Jamil too and he could easily lose his virginity to him in some scenarios, it’s much easier to picture him doing it with Idia. It’s just way less intimidating to Azul that way, Idia is much easier to handle. This sounds kind of rude to Idia, yikes… but Azul is just as pathetic, so it’s okay lol

Jade is a mysterious man…. Is he a virgin? It’s not like he cares about sex. But one day he would just randomly mentioned that he isn’t a virgin and like?? Since when?? With whom?? Is this a person from NRC or??? Jade won’t give an answer to that :( He’ll say that he is horribly shy to talk about it, but the smile on his face would make it clear that he isn’t shy at all.

Floyd doesn’t remember who was his first, because he is super horny in general and used to be even more horny when he was a freshman. He doesn’t think much about these things, he just craved all the experiences he could get back then. But at the same time, it’s possible to come up with a scenario in which Riddle would be his first… but Floyd being a virgin doesn’t make him even a little bit less of a menace lol

Kalim’s first was Jamil, 100% guaranteed. Even if he is supposed to get married, even if he gets a harem, his first time would still somehow be Jamil. This is just how Kalim is wired…

Jamil is an interesting one, because he is so stressed and married to his job that I feel like he isn’t that into sex. Which means, Kalim would absolutely be his first too. That being said, I can also picture him sleeping with someone out of desperation, frustration or even self-punishment: it could be either a random Scarabia student, Azul or even Floyd.

Vil’s first time happened with Rook <3 Like I already said, we’ll dive deeper into these two in another post, but I’ll say that despite being quite flirty sometimes, Vil is actually sentimental and careful enough not to kiss or have sex with a lot of people that he liked, so him wanting to have sex with Rook was actually a big deal.

Rook’s first could either be Vil (<3) or honestly some other mysterious person whom he met prior to becoming a NRC student. He is surprisingly experienced for someone who is supposed to be a virgin, so it’s not impossible to think that he hides some things about his quite exciting past.

Epel is a virgin that has a lot of potential bachelors around him lol Rook definitely could be preparing him for himself, but the most possible option for Epel could actually be Floyd. This guy is everywhere…!! Jack is also an option of course lol

With Idia it would also heavily depend on which couple is the main one in any given universe. Because we could have a sweet messed up scenario of Idia and Ortho being each other’s firsts and having more secrets that people realise, absorbed in each other and their own world <3

But in any other scenario, he is SUCH a forever-virgin. Azul is a very possible option for him to lose his virginity with, and of course the Tweels could also work, and Sebek… it truly depends on the ship lol

And OF COURSE Lilia is a very possible one! He would get so nervous thinking about how Crimson Muscle is definitely very experienced and mature and has a family and stuff, and he is just a pathetic guy with a crush~

Ortho would probably have his first time with Idia in any possible scenario lol Even if it was just an experiment on his part. He really loves his niisan…

Just like I mentioned, Diasomnia boys are a bit more “concrete” in the way we headcanon their first times. For example, Lilia was the first for both Malleus and Silver; they have this weird love triangle/square that we always keep in mind for some reason. I guess it just works nicely…

With Sebek it’s either Silver (very likely) or Malleus (if Sebek is LUCKY!!), but he is also one of the more passionately uncontrollable hormonal boys, so no one is truly safe around him. It could be Idia or even Epel lol

As for Lilia, well, he either doesn’t remember his first time or wants us to believe that he doesn’t. Maybe it was someone from the battlefield, maybe it was a specific woman from his past, maybe it was just a random guy. I feel like Lilia could even think that it was one way, but totally misremember things lol

Shaymin is a hedgehog and since Riddle is the grass gym leader in my au it just worked the best. Imagine it's flower is a rose though. (He probably wouldn't use it for the gym that's too op)

I needed a lil rascal for Ace and Scorbunny gives such Ace vibes.

Deuce: Buneary

After the bunny event (can't remember the name of it for the life of me) I had to give him a bunny pokemon. I also wanted it to be a duo with Ace's ace. (tehehe ace and ace) For all you Adeuce-ers I have a drawing vision I'll create one day.

Cater: Ditto

Identity issues. I picture Ditto approaching Cater as Cater and he assumed it was a clone for the longest time. Ofc until he tried making it disappear and it didn't work.

Trey: Chansey

He's like the big brother of the group so I thought Chansey was perfect.

I didn't wanna just base them off of their species since I was going to give them Pokemon Beastman types instead. (For example Leona is a Pyroar Beastman)

Leona: Lucario

I wanted a fighting type since he's the fighting gym leader. So when I was playing Legends Arceus and stumbled upon an alpha Lucario I knew it had to be. (Dunno how much it fits tho tbh)

Ruggie: Timburr

I needed a lil rascal for him. Someone who could snag something and run off. Also preferably a fighting type. Timburr fits the profile.

Jack: Lycanroc

He turns into a wolf...this one had to be a wolf. I wanted one that didn't give intimidating vibes and Lycanroc was my best bet. I feel like it's a very loyal pokemon and from what I know Jack is decently loyal. (I'm sorry I don't know much about Jackypoo)

Octavinelle

Azul: Grapploct

I know I said I didn't wanna go species based, but tbh it was either this or Vaporeon and I feel like I could find more similarities with these two. It's pre-evolution is a small little guy who works it's way up to it's strong version, similar to Azul working hard to become the successful man- teen he is today.

Malleus: Meowstick♂️

Everyone keeps giving him a super op team full of legend/psuedo-legendary dragon types but instead I made him part Dialga (basically the god of time) so I could excuse it.

I can't see him getting many pokemon, most escaping their balls and leaving Mal down. But this Meowstick lives in his castle. He wanted to befriend it but it was really stubborn. Eventually they became comrades tho!!

Silver: Swablu

He needs an Altaria. It's a cloud bird (technically dragon but shhhh)‼️‼️Swablu doesn't evolve until level 50 though and he's still young so he needs to wait.

Sebek: Pom-Pom Oricorio

I LOVE HIS DYNAMIC WITH ORICORIO!! I picked it because it was an electric cheerleader and he's always idolizing Mal but there's lore origins

Sebek found Oricorio when he was younger and out playing with Silver. It was injured and about to faint (Pokemon's equivalent to dying) Silver insisted on rushing it home and having Lilia help save it. Sebek carried it all the way there and it grew attached to him.

I can see Baul having issues with him having a non-evolving Pokemon but give it time, it'll prove it can be strong

Lilia: Sneasler

Come on...Look at them.

Sneasler is a Hisui exclusive actually, and Hisui is Sinnoh in the 1700s-ish. It also looks like it could be a soldier, look at it. Amazing. Perfect. I love Sneasler.

Extra: (You'll have to look these up yourself)

Crowley: Haunchcrow, it's in the name, it's a crow.

Crewel: Furfrou, dog you get to stylize, perfect fit

"No, I was actually thinking-" But before you could finish your sentence, Floyd had grabbed your hand and was already dragging you to the cafeteria with him.

You didn't get to get your own food, but Jade and Floyd shared theirs with you.

"Hello Jade, Floyd..." Azul sat down opposite to you. "...and (Y/N). Why is he here?"

"Because he's a tiny little shrimp who needs protection!" Floyd wrapped his arms around you, causing you to choke a bit.

"We've decided to protect him. Of course, in return for certain things..." Jade added, causing you to feel, well, uncomfortable to say the least.

"...ok. Well, (Y/N), I can tell you're..." Azul sorta trailed off, either not knowing what to say or not wanting to say it. "But the three of us have some important things regarding our business we need to discuss, and I would appreciate it if you could leave."

"I'm ok with that." You said, standing up.

But then, both of your arms were grabbed by the twins.

"No, (Y/N) can listen." Jade insisted. "He's a model employee, I'm sure it's fine if he listens in on our business plans."

"Yeah... why're you trying to separate him from us, Azul?" Floyd asked. "It's almost like you want to get him alone so you can catch him by surprise and hurt him."

"What?! No, obviously not!" Azul yelled.

"Well I don't believe you!" Floyd yelled back. They were causing a scene... you'd really rather not be in this situation right now.

"I don't either." Jade calmly added. "Now, Azul, let's discuss our business."

Unfortunately. This is how the rest of your week would go as well.

Those weird twins were very protective of you.

And, they would come to you with problems like injuries and... well, mostly just injuries. Bad ones too.

For example: one night, Floyd entered your room, covered in bite marks, scratch marks, and other various injuries.

"What the hell happened to you?!" You yelled at him.

"Jade and I had a fight." He rolled his eyes. "I'm really huuuuuuuuurt, Shrimpy!"

"Yeah, no shit, Floyd!" You exclaimed. "W-wait here, I'll be right back."

After half an hour or so, you came back with some disinfectant and bandages you bought from the school store.

After everything was all said and done, Floyd laughed at your choice in bandages.

"What?" You asked.

"Nothing, just lookin' at these cute little sea creature bandages ya got." He smirked. "They're kinda funny looking!" He giggled at the silly little fish illustrations.

"Oh, yeah, I saw 'em at Sam's shop and I just had to buy them!" You explained. "You can keep the box of them, if you want. I-I don't think I'll use them very much..."

"Eh, I don't see why not. Sure, I'll take your silly little bandages!"

Things like this kept happening. Whenever the two of them had bad things happen, they'd immediately go to you for help. Your classmates and others view of you changed significantly when they saw the fucking Leech brothers following you around like baby ducks.

It was very off-putting to everyone else.

You, Floyd, and Jade had (what they described as) a symbiotic relationship. You took care of them and they took care of you.

One time you were sick with a really bad fever, and Jade took care of you! He got you tea, soup, a cold towel for your forehead, he even put on a movie for you on one of those old portable DVD players because you couldn't get out of bed.

One time you fell down the stairs, and you got a bad scrape on your knee. Nothing serious, but it definitely hurt. When Floyd noticed your scrape, he gave you one of the sea creature bandages you gave him a few days ago. Specifically, it was one with a moray eel on it (you're almost 100% sure he gave you that one on purpose.)

They also really didn't want you to be anywhere near Azul.

They'd do everything in their power to keep you as far away from Azul as possible. The only time you saw Azul without the twins supervising you was board game club meetings. But even then, Azul avoided you. So during board game club you kinda just sat by yourself in the corner, browsing your phone.

One time, you tried to make a deal with Azul, but he declined! He, Azul Ashengrotto, known for pushing deals to people and pressuring them into contracts, declined to make a deal with you!

One night, as you were watching a movie with Floyd, he said something to you.

"Listen, Shrimpy... we need to talk." He began. "You should really try to stay away from Azul. He's dangerous."

What you didn't know was that Jade was having a very similar conversation with Azul.

"We want you to stay away from him, Azul." Jade said. "I'm sure you know how Floyd and I feel about (Y/N), and I'm sure you know he can barely defend himself... so please stay away from him from now on."

You didn't know why Floyd was telling you to avoid Azul, he's harmless! And, even though he can be kinda cruel with his contracts, he's usually really nice.

"Floyd, he's our Housewarden! He's kinda hard to avoid because of that..." You mentioned.

"So? Just try to avoid him as best as you can. You don't have to perfectly avoid him, since most of the time Jade and I will be around to keep ya safe... you just have to be extra careful when we aren't around, kay~?"

"N-no? That's insane, I'll be fine!" You responded.

"Hm... well, I won't force you to do anything. I just want you to stay safe, 'cause Azul's a dangerous guy!" Floyd gave you a very tight hug. "You should stay away from him."

Jade had his magic pen pressed against Azul's throat like a knife, though it was just a bit more threatening since, with the magic pen, Jade could burn Azul to a crisp in two seconds.

"You know Floyd and I appreciate your friendship... I would hate to hurt you, I truly would... but if you hurt (Y/N), you will force my hand." Jade backed off slightly. "Please don't hurt him in any way. If you do, you know what will happen. I will know what you did. Floyd and I will both know what you did to our little darling (Y/N). So please... stay away from him."

These posts are so damn hilarious because they always try to insist that evidence we see of Zuko's kindness is either nonexistent or doesn't matter while Azula showing nothing but cruelty to everyone around her is just a teensy "mean streak."

Also, that post they linked to about teenage Zuko? Was written about Zuko as he was introduced in book 1, before it was established that he became that way because he was trying imitate what he thought he had to be to please his father, and the introduction of his sister who has those same negative qualities, such as being a bully and a bigot, except turned up to eleven. So to use this description to make Azula look better in comparison is...a choice.

I'd like them to explain where it's shown that Zuko is "pretty mean" as a child. Where he throws bread at a turtle duck because he is trying to imitate Azula? When he says he doesn't want to play with Azula because she is mean to him? Also notice how they pull the "girls are crazy" line out of the context in which it occurs, because, once again, he said it about Azula playing a mean trick on him. Funny how all of these instances of Zuko being "pretty mean," are, in fact, Zuko reacting to Azula's meanness.

On Zuko being unlikely to value something not from the Fire Nation, we actually do see kid Zuko value the Earth Kingdom dagger, while Azula is the one who burns the Earth Kingdom doll she is given. We also see Zuko as a child learn empathy and the value of hard work while Azula is self-centered and violent totally absorbs Fire Nation nationalism. It's true that Zuko as a child doesn't question his nation until he's thirteen but he's a lot closer than Azula is even as a young child because he has that base of empathy and being able to value other perspectives besides his own.

It's also pretty clear that the reason Zuko doesn't have friendships and is seen with his mother only while Azula is socialized with other girls and shown off to her grandfather is because of how Ozai treated Zuko like a pariah. It's certainly not due to Azula's winning personality, I can tell you that, since we see her push Ty Lee, play a mean prank on Mai, and say out loud that she wants her grandfather to die. Zuko is the one who is like you know, it's maybe not nice to wish death on relatives and recognize Mai's distress and try to help her.

But right, those things don't matter, and everything we are shown about Azula as a character is just Zuko's bias. Right.

This is not how stories work! You can't talk about character bias if the narrative never establishes that it's bias, never shows us any other perspective to compare it to. Saying that Azula was probably a lot nicer offscreen means nothing, because you can't establish something as part of a narrative and not show it or imply it in any way. It is never established that Zuko's negative reactions to Azula are unfounded. On the contrary, what we see of them when they are kids is Zuko being repeatedly ignored when he reacts negatively to his sister abusing him, and his father allowing and encouraging it, and his mother and uncle being unable to counteract it because they have no power in the household.

I'd also like an example of Azula "seeing value in things no one in the FN thinks are valuable." It's no mystery why Azula values Ty Lee, when Ty Lee is constantly praising her and easily shoved back in line when she doesn't do things that validate Azula. And as for Katara, these two characters are established by the narrative as direct foils! Katara being the bleeding heart of her community while Azule is adored by her militaristic nation. Katara who sacrifices herself out of love for others, and Azula who gathers minions around her who she thinks she can use to validate her sense of superiority until she ends up alone. Katara who has been marginalized by the violence done to her community and Azula who is privileged and spoiled. Katara who builds strong ties with those around her vs Azila who controls through fear. Katara who wins through kindness and love and creativity vs Azula who blames everyone else for her own destructiveness. Katara who has great respect for the other nations and Azula who has disdain for them. Katara is the girl who values learning from others who these people are looking for. Katara who is a fierce feminist and Azula who uses her privilege against other women. Katara who loved her mother fiercely vs Azula who tried to distance herself from her own because to her, love is a weakness. Katara who draws strength from her own pain and uses it to empathize with others and make sure no one else suffers the way she did, vs Azula who is so full of hatred and desire to hurt others because she was hurt. Azula is also a classist bigot and would have no respect for Katara, but the feeling would be mutual because Katara has too much self respect, and Azula would hate that the way she hates everyone she can't manipulate.

Ditto for Toph. You think Toph has any patience for Azula and her mind games? Here's what would happen there: Azula makes a blind joke. Azula now lives under ten meters of earth.

It's ironic because Toph and Katara actually form deep friendships with Zuko, lol. Who, once he is out from under his abuser's thumb, actually does form lasting relationships built on mutual love and respect.

Super random question, but what advice would you have for someone who wants to get into writing smut? I really want to try, but I get so nervous about it sounding weird or just coming off wrong altogether. ^^; Thanks in advance! ❤️

Aight, so anyone who knows me knows that I like to give very long-winded explanations to simple questions, and this is no exception! So here's my process that I wished I had known when I first started writing smut, as well as a few resources. This is going to be mainly for Fanfiction writing, but you can apply this for Original Works as well.

Step 1: The Cast

Figuring out who is gonna be in the story is always a good first step. Whether it be OCs, Fandom Characters, Self-Inserts, or a Reader Insert. Knowing who will be starring is the first thing you need to know. If you're using OC(s), then make sure you know your own character. Fill out a mini form for writing them so you know who they are. If it's a character from a fandom, I like to "interview" the character to get to know them. Let's do a quick example!

Interview Example

Interviewer: "So what was it first like to come to land?"

Floyd: "Eh, what a boring question. It was kinda weird but fun, though none of us could walk. It was so funny seeing Azul fall right on his face. Oh, he told us never to tell anyone; too late for that now. Hey, how about we move on to a better question!"

Normally I just do a few of those until I get a grasp on the characters before I write them for the first time!

Step 2: The Idea

The next step is easy, find a prompt or idea to write about. If you already have something in mind, that's great! If not, you can always go on Tumblr and look up spicy prompts. Anything to get your mind working. Once you have a prompt write a paragraph about what is gonna happen in the story.

Step 3: Outlining

With normal stories I seldom ever outline...but for smut, I need to. It helps you know exactly what's going to happen. I normally write a sentence for every paragraph I'm writing and go from there.

Outlining Example:

Floyd walks in on Reader relaxing

The reader notices and waves him in

Floyd wraps his arm around Reader

Reader jokes with Floyd

Floyd nibbles on their ear

Using the Outline:

Floyd's footsteps echo throughout Ramshackle as he runs through the building, intent on finding you. Once he came to your door he didn't bother knocking, instead walking in on you.

You hear your door slamming open and turn to see Floyd standing there, shooting you a toothy grin. You give a small laugh and wave him inside the room. He didn't need to be told twice, using his long legs to make quick strides over to you.

Hope that helps you with how I make and use outlines. I mainly just write down the simple idea for the paragraph then once I finish the outline, I go through each one and fill in the details of what's going on.

Step 4: Writing

The next step is the hard part...you actually have to write things. Everything else was child's play, but now you need to write everything out! Just a few pieces of advice I have for writing sex scenes is:

Focus on sensations: What does your character feel when his hand touches them. If you can't think of something imagine yourself in that place. A cool hand runs across your own arm. Perhaps you get goosebumps, maybe a small shiver, perhaps you gasp in surprise? Focus on things like that.

Internal Things: What does the character's heart do? Skip a beat or does it beat too fast? Do they have butterflies in their stomach or a piece of lead dropping down in their gut?

Dialogue: Personally I love writing dialogue when doing smut. The character banter is everything to me, and the dirty talk? It's got people rolling when a character says something downright filthy.

Those are a few things I focus on. Here's a resource I use for kissing scenes since I feel like mine fall flat, so I've been working on them. It also helps to use different verbs when describing things. I use this often for reference.

Remember it's fine to use vulgar words when writing smut, in fact, people tend to like it. The flowery language is fine if that's your style, but you do you. It'll be embarrassing at first but push through, eventually you'll write it with a straight face.

Step 5: Get Free Labor From Friends

After you finish, send it out to a few friends and have them read it over for you. Aka ask if they can just fix any typos and get free editing out of your well-forged friendships. Remember, if you put in the effort to have friends, you deserve to force them to work for free. Queenie, I swear it's a joke please don't murder me.

But seriously, I recommend sending it to a friend to have them look over things and give some advice. You don't have to post your first few smuts, but def have a second opinion on it.

Lastly...it's possibly going to suck. Like majorly suck your first few attempts. I don't even wanna look at the smuts I wrote when I was learning. They're so bad. Just keep practicing and eventually, you'll get better. I have a lot to improve on myself, so it's always a work in progress.

Bonus Step 6: Read Smut

You can't write something if you don't read for it...so go and read some smut and see what they do. Trust me, it's needed.

Well, this is a rather specific ask, but quite funny😂so I'll do my best to write decent enough headcanons, with some details✨(also, I'm sorry if I reply late, but I've to study these days due to my university thesis speech being on 10th September, so please go easy on me with asks until then🙈):

Demya has a warm body temperature, so in winter it can be pleasant to cuddle with her in her messy nest of blankets and pillows, but in summer it's a different story and she also suffers from the heat, so she is basically forced to sleep in underwear to find at least some relief and freshness. Demya would feel annoyed towards MC cuddling Domnra when it's cold, because he's literally her frenemy, so she would persistently try to persuade MC to come and snuggle with her in her comfy nest instead, where she would cover MC again with her scent, being a very territorial demon. On the other hand, Demya would understand MC cuddling with Odon when it's hot, as the eldritch would be an excellent source of coolness, in fact she would actually join MC, climbing onto Odon's back like a koala and pressing herself against their cold figure

DOMNRA/MOBIM

As already mentioned, Domnra has a hot body temperature, almost like a furnace, Mobim is also quite warm, but in a more subtle way, as the little curse is smaller in size. Neither Domnra or Mobim particularly suffers from the cold, even in summer for Domnra it wouldn't necessarily be a problem, as he can tolerate heat well enough, at most if the temperature proved unmanageable, he would use a fan, however Domnra, much to his dismay, would discover that MC wouldn't be able to stand him when it was hot, to the point of running away. During cold seasons Domnra would be pleased to have MC attached to him, being all cozy, but would be offended when they would avoid him like the plague when it's hot, as a tsundere however he wouldn't admit it and would act petty. Azul has a body temperature that varies depending on what he is feeling: when he is happy, in love, angry or surprised, Azul is warm, while when he is neutral, sad, scared, disgusted or mad, he is cold, therefore if they wished to deal with cold or hot temperatures, MC should try to influence Azul's mood. For example, during summer, it would be enough for Azul to remain in his neutral emotional state for him to feel cool to MC, while during winter, it would be enough to either show him affection or stay next to him while he plays rage games, so that his body temperature would feel warm to MC . One of the main reasons why Odon wears a sweater and a poncho is to make their body temperature actually more bearable for others. Odon wouldn't mind if MC cuddled up against them for relief during summer, Odon would be content and unfazed enough to let MC climb them like a tree, given their height, as long as MC payed attention not to move the bangs on their face though, moreover it would be one of those few times where Odon would wear a short-sleeved shirt, to keep their cold skin more exposed. Nathaniel's solution, for both cases, would be to bring MC to one of the fresh springs where his cleansing and preening sessions usually take place, depending on the weather and MC's needs. During summer, the best solution that Uriel would come up with would probably be to fan MC with her wings. Uriel would be outraged if MC turned to Domnra when it's cold and Odon when it's hot, not only because she doesn't trust demons, but also because she would see it as a personal affront, so she would ignore MC for days to make them regret those who she believes to be sins, she wouldn't be the most forgiving. Uriel would suggest MC to think carefully about who to turn to in times of need next time, especially if they require protection in their future escape plans

So, it looks like he would hate children, especially if their rowdy, but I feel like he has a soft spot for them because he honestly just wants to see kids happy (he didn't have a great childhood, so he'd rather try to help kids have a good time when their younger). The same can be said for his reaction towards your younger siblings, he's much less strict on them than he is to his own dorm, but that doesn't mean your siblings weren't scared of him

They probably asked him if he was going to "off their heads" or were like "are you scary?" They might've tried brawling him after finding out he accidentally hurt you haha. Nonetheless he might've joked with them that he could use magic on them but that scared one of them too much he just never did that again haha

He really thinks that they're adorable but sometimes he does get annoyed by them if they're too rowdy. He'll give them a curt "cut it out" but won't actually yell at them. He's apparently fine with yelling at students but when it comes to little kids he can't bring himself to do it

Thinks it's kind of funny how they're a bit overprotective of their older sister but also is a little saddened that his overblot is causing a bit of a difficulty between him and your family. However, he's hopeful that they'll look beyond just the horrors overblots do and learn Riddle has accepted his mistakes and grew from that experience.

Overall, I feel like as long as they aren't too loud around him he won't really mind them. They might grow to like him because he's good at listening and can offer help when they need it for homework. Will they call him tomato-face because they've seen him get angry or flustered? Yes. When he met your siblings for the first time, they probably thought he was a little scary. Not to mention they knew about his overblot, they were scared to shake his hand at first. He's also a lion, so if he playfully makes a bad joke about him eating people they might run off screaming at you to not marry him lmaoo

They definitely love pulling pranks on him because while he's extremely good at coming up with devious plans, he's also kind of gullible. He might see through one trick but miss half of it. For example, Leona was led outside of the house and he saw the hole that they dug right in front of where he was about to step. Leona will then joke that he saw it coming, but what he didn't see was the other two siblings with a large bucket of water on the roof, ready to pour it on the poor guy

Leona's really relaxed, which is another reason your siblings will grow to like him. If you tell them to stay in because it's raining, Leona might make an excuse to bring them outside and play with them for a while. He's extremely lazy, but for some reason he wants the siblings to also have fun

Overall, he will first try to be unapproachable but will grow to be their favorite person. They're overprotective of you but will end up pushing you to marry him haha. I think Leona would sleep in all day after running around with the siblings the day before, but no worries since your siblings can go play with Cheka.

Azul

He probably doesn't hate children but doesn't really like them either. He definitely doesn't like them being messy and tries to keep himself from getting in any form of mud, but that doesn't mean he won't go meet them when you ask.

Didn't want your siblings to know about his past with the contracts and everything related to it since it makes him look like a bad person (he knows it too, but at the same time he's kinda proud of it lol). His lack of confidence also doesn't help him, he thinks your family will hate him because of who he is. When your siblings at first are a little afraid of him because of his past overblot, he can't help feel a little saddened and he might quickly walk away to his room if it gets worse.

You need to remind him that they're just kids, and if anything they'll grow to like Azul, which is true. He turns out to be an amazing chef, and the kids absolutely love that. Not to mention the absolute amount of knowledge this guy has, the kids never seem to be bored of Azul talking. They also love pulling pranks on Azul because he's kinda gullible too, but honestly I feel like Azul wouldn't mind that much since he knows it's just kids being kids

He's sadly not really the type to play with them when they ask him to run around outside or play tag. They especially think his work with the knife is really skilled, like he'll be cutting things so fast they can't see the blade haha

Jamil was probably a little worried at first about his first impressions. More than just the overblot, Jamil feels like because of his social class back in his hometown, it might effect him and your family's relationship. However, the way your siblings welcome him and the way that they keep asking when you two are moving in together makes him feel a little relieved

Also someone that isn't the biggest fan of children, Vil didn't really want to meet your siblings at first. He knew he would have to meet them, but he didn't want to meet them until he felt like he was fully prepared to meet three hyper and chaotic little gremlins haha

They know who he is, which is something that was always in the back of his mind. They know that he always plays the villain but also that he overblotted. It worried him that your siblings would only see him as the villains he acted as, and at first the way they were staring at him from afar made him think that they didn't want him around. However, after a few more meetups, they soon relax around him

He's pretty s children too, but he won't yell at them. He worked in the film and theater industry really young, and he doesn't want kids to go through that level of stress. This mindset might be the reason why he never actually gets angry at them, though he might get annoyed and move from the living room to the guest bedroom. He's also a frequent victim to their pranks, which he hates and has scared them off a few times. You scolding them along with him scolding them probably made them cry a few times ://

Because of his career in acting, he's probably really good at reading books with so much emotion and drama. They love it when he reads them stories because he can somehow bring all the characters from the pages alive, so expect to see them huddled around him as he's reading from a pile of books. Overall he knows that he's strict but he knows he won't be changing that part of him anytime soon. Vil's honestly glad that your siblings grew to like him since he's so used to kids being scared of him haha.
