I think it would be cool if teachers were taught how to recognize signs of abuse (trauma responses such as PTSD, look for visible bruises, etc) so that they could report it or something, instead of just punishing children for “””misbehaving.”””

Want to hear something horrifying about education?
I recently found out that they still use the exact same edition of the exact same World History textbook that I was taught from in high school.
It was published in 2007...
The kids who are currently being taught from it HADN'T BEEN BORN YET!
Wtf...
I found this out like a month ago when I saw a kid's textbook at work and recognized it by the front cover.
I'm still not over it.

I don't know how deep you want the lore to go or how the school system works in your universe, but have you thought about middle/high school in your universe?
The way they'd stink up the whole school/ neighborhood with the hormones and emotions that are raging through their bodies, and then add the drama and bs they have with each other😭😭
Oh honey the lore for this fic is in my bone marrow. It's seeped into my hypothalamus. It's tucked into my brain folds at all times.
Have I thought about school in this universe? Hell yeah I have.
It's gross really 😂 because not only do you have puberty and boys refusing to clean themselves or wear deodorant, but you also have stinky hormones after presentation. Alphas and betas will finish high school (or its equivalent) after presentation. Some omegas stay in school as well (rip their noses) but it can be rough for them which is why a lot of parents will send omegas to institutes. It's not uncommon for students to just disappear around the time they turn 16. It's pretty well understood what it means when it happens. Some parents might home school omegas too, it just kind of depends on pack situations, family situations, resources, etc. Not every family can send their omegas to the best institutes, and not all families trust them (rightfully so)
But yeah. High schools are gross in this universe. Most teachers probably wear scent blocker, and I can imagine a lot of schools require it for students as well, just so they can focus and not be overwhelmed by the constantly changing emotions and scents and the toxic cloud that builds up in large groups. Fights are very common, especially when you have a lot of hormonal, young alphas in an enclosed space. It's not uncommon for those fights to revolve around omegas when they're present too.
It's a mess. Unfortunately a lot of countries still mix statuses in schools and don't really take the time to cultivate the resources for better programs more suited towards supporting kids and teens after they present (👀 looking at you USA). Private schools are better at things like that, but of course private schools are expensive and hard to get into.

Thinking about how little schools in the United States give a fuck about the safety of their students, and how school counselors could not care less about abuse because there is no reason for them to care.
When I was a kid, I was regularly called to the principal's office and/or the school councilors office. It was a combination of undiagnosed autism, being completely traumatized, and in general not knowing how to socialize with anyone. I would always (and still do) get triggered by pretty much anything and get sent into frequent panic attacks and mental breakdowns. I would frequently leave the classroom crying, or would scream and cry in the bathroom. I would frequently be in an unresponsive PTSD state, and even though I could rarely remember why I was upset, or know what was happening (kept repressing the shit out of that trauma) the effects were still there. I was labeled as a problem kid, and it became routine to just deal with me in the office.
I remember one time I was explaining how my mom hit me to the school counselor, and she asked more specifically how my mom hit me. She then said that slapping children across the face is legal because it doesn't leave a mark. She said that it doesn't matter what I feel about it because my mother is allowed to do that, and my mother still loves me, etc. She said there was nothing that she was allowed to do about it, and that I should just deal with it. (Btw, the woman I am describing was the most helpful councilor or therapist I saw at this age who arguably did the least amount of harm.) The woman who told me that it didn't matter that I was being hit because it was legal, and also didn't give enough of a shit to try and figure out if other stuff was going on (there was much worse stuff going on) was the kindest and most helpful person in my childhood who toted a therapist or councilor label.
I frequently interacted with school administration as a kid, and they always just dismissed me as a troublemaker and looking for attention. And whenever my dad would harass them into not punishing more than they already did (I cannot count the number of times I would get suspended for having panic attacks or causing a scene in school) they would just believe him when they said that he was helping me. He took me to a fake therapist (she was licensed as an "art therapist" and had no other qualifications) who encouraged him and myself to believe that I was only pretending to be depressed to try and get out of doing homework. That therapist told me that no matter how much my father abused me, it didn't matter because he loved me. And this woman would tell my school that I was fine, and to ignore me when I caused trouble. And they believed it. Because they don't care. No one fucking cares. People pretend to give a shit about harm caused to children, but in reality, they could not care less.

oooh my little, soft boy how much i love u
happy birthday to the man (whose uncanon birthday I picked because I totally see him as a person on the gemini/taurus cusp)! 🥳🎂🎉🎉🎉
I think it gets easier and just to fuck with him, they keep getting the ones with M&Ms. Annabeth can even make it herself with Luke for fun once she's a bit older. Or I guess I can Mikaela can make it and they can make a competition out of it
