Section 1557 is the law that guarantees trans protections in the us. Saying she supports that law is not “not giving a shit about trans rights lol” just because you don’t know to what law she is referring.
Lovely how libs has spent a year going "yeah well Harris is gonna back and fund a genocide but at least she will stand by trans people in the US" just for her to come out as not giving a shit about trans rights lol
#my family is middle eastern and quite simply the us has been bombing us for nearly 80 years#it is always demonstrably more catastrophic under republican presidents#and we lose all aid and medical support funding#you are not going to change the democratic party by refusing to vote#the reason the republican party has gotten so radical is because their radicals VOTE#the difference in my family has always been 5 dead cousins and the option for student visas vs 30 dead cousins and wasting diseases#that is the blood on the ground at the end of the day. that is what lesser of two evils is#‘well i am radically opposed to that and committed to stopping ALL bloodshed’—person whose idea of radical action inaction#and watching left-leaning americans every election cycle go ‘im going to make the party agree with me by withholding my vote’#and then each successive cycle watching the party move further center because people on the far left dont vote and far right do#you must understand that the metric by which you demonstrate your values is voting not inaction#the party shifts to center because people in the center are the ones voting#and furthermore why are people promoting not voting suddenly using 200K as the current death toll that is not correct#you have decided the true number isn’t emotional enough? you undercut the horrific fact of the acts by abandoning facts for impact#roe v wade was lost because of the supreme court. that is the power and purpose of that court. trump was allowed to stack it last time#which is why even under another president it worked its way up through other trump-picked courts to the one republicans had unfairly stacked#you are in fact citing a long-term devastating reprecussion of trump’s last presidency#the president cannot interfere with the court. did anyone here take civics.#and furthermore the continued economic fallout and failure to maintain affordability programs that started during the pandemic is because#republicans keep killing them in the house which they control#simply so nothing beneficial to the people passes under a different party’s president#the reason you all keep acting like presidental elections and their candidates +policies come out of nowhere is just telling on yourselves#that you arent following or participating in smaller elections in the interrim#insane to watch so many people on the left swallow the idea that voting is pointless at the same time that we have WATCHED#how radical voters voting has swung the entire conservative party deeply right of right

Northern border crisis gets worse, US attorney Wrigley says
North Dakota Attorney General Drew Wrigley (R) has issued a stark warning about the flow of illegal immigration across the northern US border, arguing that the situation, which has intensified under the Biden administration, is likely to worsen, US Media reported.
Wrigley spoke on Wednesday at a field hearing hosted by the House Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security and Enforcement in Grand Forks, North Dakota. The hearing “The Biden Border Crisis: North Dakota Perspectives” focused on how illegal crossings across the northern border are affecting North Dakota residents and communities. Only Republican legislators attended the meeting.
North Dakota is home to 18 land ports of entry along a 310-mile stretch of the 5,525-mile northern US border, and only three ports are open 24 hours a day. Wrigley stated:
“The situation has deteriorated significantly in recent years, and the current situation is untenable with millions of illegal entrants streaming across America’s southwest border. North Dakota is already experiencing negative law enforcement impacts due to the Biden Administration’s refusal to shut down the border, but my concern is that the worst is yet to come, both in terms of street crimes and national security.”
Wrigley reported that there were 4,444 migrant encounters in fiscal year (FY) 2023, a significant increase from 2,127 in FY 2022 and 548 in FY 2021. He also emphasised that preliminary data shows that the upward trend will continue in FY 2024.
Wrigley also noted the striking difference in drug prices at US borders, highlighting that fentanyl and synthetic opioids can be purchased for as little as 25 cents per pill on the southwest border, while North Dakota can fetch between $60 and $80 per pill, making it attractive to drug traffickers.

US F-1 Student Visa Holders Can Now Work for Startups
On December 20, 2023, the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) unveiled new policy guidance specifically aimed at international students. This significant update represents a substantial shift that will directly affect international students holding an F-1 Student Visa and pursuing their studies in the United States.
Tumblr media
For the very first time, students of this kind will have the opportunity to personally apply for a visa in the Employment-based classification. This adjustment allows international students to qualify for US immigrant visas.
The USCIS policy guidance includes -
 F & M student nonimmigrant classification,
Role of USCIS in deciding applications for employment authorization,
Change of student status in the US,
Extension of stay of the student in the US, and
The reinstatement of the status for these students and their dependents in the US.
Based on the USCIS News Release, the advice will offer clear information to foreign students and American educational institutions about various topics such as qualifications, transferring schools, practical training, and employment both on and off campus.
According to the latest guidelines, foreign students in the United States with an F or M visa must have a foreign residence that they plan to maintain. Additionally, these students must either be the recipient of an immigrant visa petition or have a pending permanent labor certification application. They still need to demonstrate their intention to depart the US after their temporary stay.
Furthermore, the USCIS guidance outlines the criteria for F students seeking OPT (optional practical training) related to their STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) studies to work for startup firms in the United States. Startup employers must meet specific requirements to hire F Student visa holders.
The news marks a significant ruling that permits F-1 Student visa holders to be employed by startup firms in the US, benefiting Indian students studying there.

penny for yout thoughts on the latino vote this election? i'm on a working visa in a very liberal part of the US right now. it's hard for me to be objective right now, i feel like my own people (sigh) betrayed me. what happened?
everything i've seen seems to support the idea that, just like most us voters, a very large percentage of latinos treat elections in general and this one in particular as a big referendum on Econony: Good Or Bad? [x] and that the economy is a higher priority for most of them than immigration policy [x].
also, yknow, even if immigration had mattered a lot to latino voters, "the camps are good and should be expanded, we need crueler, more violent, more vicious border policy" was a bipartisan consensus this election. harris couldn't shut up about how tough on the border she was. the message the democrats wanted to send was "don't worry, we are just as racist as the republicans" -- with that as their pitch, why apart from inertia would anyone expect an overwhelming latino majority for the democrats?

President Biden fought on Friday to save a bipartisan immigration deal from collapse in Congress, vowing to shut down the border if the plan became law even as the Republican speaker pronounced it dead on arrival in the House.
In a written statement that came as Senate negotiators scrambled to finalize a deal that former President Donald J. Trump is pressuring Republicans to oppose, Mr. Biden used his most stringent language yet about the border, declaring it “broken” and in “crisis” and promising to halt migration immediately if Congress sends him the proposal.
“What’s been negotiated would — if passed into law — be the toughest and fairest set of reforms to secure the border we’ve ever had in our country,” he said. “It would give me, as president, a new emergency authority to shut down the border when it becomes overwhelmed. And if given that authority, I would use it the day I sign the bill into law."[...]
Under the emerging deal, the administration would be required to shut down the border to migrants attempting to enter without prior authorization if encounters rise above 5,000 on any given day[...]
As the immigration plan teeters on Capitol Hill, the fate of additional aid for Ukraine also hangs in the balance[...]
Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the minority leader, told fellow Republicans behind closed doors this week that Mr. Trump’s hostility to the plan and his growing dominance in the primary had put them “in a quandary.”
Mr. McConnell, a chief Republican proponent of sending more aid to Ukraine, has been a vocal supporter of the border deal that members of his party have insisted upon as the price of their backing for continued assistance for Kyiv.[...]
The bipartisan team of senators that has been working for months to strike a compromise to crack down on [...] migration and drug trafficking across the southern border with Mexico has come to an agreement in recent days on a set of policy changes. They include measures to make it more difficult to secure asylum, increase detention facilities, and force the administration to turn away migrants without visas if more than 5,000 people attempt to cross into the country unlawfully on any given day.
