Something I've just thought of about the orv epilogue is, that maybe the separation of 49 and 51 wasn't as random as it initially appears. It's shown that the 49 is the part that loves Kimcom, and 51 is more or less the more "complete" kdj, but giving it a think, I think it's a bit more depressing.

From what we know when they get him back, to succeed as OD you have to love the story, that being TWSA, when the fourth wall stated that neither hsy nor yjh can substitute as OD because they don't love the story.

And what is the part of kdj that loves the story? The part pre scenarios, where he is more or less alone and entirely absorbed by the story, while post scenario kdj becomes less and less reliant on WoS as the novel goes on, eventually outright refuses to read it.

And that is the part that loves yjh as protagonist, and hsy as the writer. The part that loves reading the story instead of writing his own story. So while the companions might feel the loss less acutely, because the part that got left over was the one that loved them the most, yjh and hsy lost the version of kdj that loved them the most, if even more indirectly. It's the breaking of yoohankim, the binding glue of reader, writer and protagonist, because at the end of the day, 51 took the reader with him, leaving 49 unfortunately devoid of what hsy and yjh ended up loving him for

I seriously can not think of one case that reps aspd better than how this page bc it’s like “hey, being apathetic isn’t exactly the reason he did this. In fact he was the only one to try and help that friend even though it was in a bad/immoral way. The other people simply were afraid of their friend and didn’t even try to help despite their empathy because they didn’t understand. They didn’t even take the time to understand. They also did bad things, the only difference is they feel guilty but that doesn’t excuse their actions”.
