All or Nothing and lowave records
Strap in because this is gonna be a long one. This post will try to shed some light on how the whole lowave records thing works, how you can use this music, how it is being distributed, and what all a contract with lowave would include. All this and more below the cut!
Let us start with the basics: What is lowave records?
Quite succinctly summed up on their website as follows:
Tumblr media
They make and distribute royalty-free music for content creators - specifically video-format content creators like Youtubers and streamers - they share some streaming revenue (30%, we'll get into that) with the creators who are labelled 'co-artists' and get promotion of their music through the content creators.
So, that brings us to the next big question: What is royalty-free music?
This is music that is free to use. Yes, by anyone, by Dan and Phil, by other creators, by you and me, any of us. This is by no means a new thing of course, anyone who has created content online would have come across other such services. just as an example, bensound.com hosts a large library of royalty-free music which you can use in any video by simply crediting the site in your description. Lowave works in a similar fashion. The music is not copyrighted. However, the rights to the music are held by lowave records and there are limitations on its use, which we will get into ahead.
How is the money working (preliminary edition)?
I will add details to this later when I discuss the contract, but let's see the info we get straight away from the FAQs: You do not have to pay them anything to make music for you
Tumblr media
The money is coming in from the streaming platforms, depends completely on amount of streams, and is shared between lowave and the creators
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also from the FAQs: how can this music be used?
Anyone can freely use any of the music from lowave records, which means that yes, you can use any music from All or Nothing for your purposes with credit, it will not be taken down
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Is this the only music we will hear on dapg now? Will there be more albums?
Not necessarily! This isn't an exclusive deal, DnP can use any music they want on the channel. As for new albums, seems like it depends on how this one does (and it seems to be doing quite well!) which will unlock future avenues for more collabs with lowave
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay BASICS DONE if you're still reading you're probably here for the real meat so let us get into it
How is the money working (director's cut)?
Let us start with the terms on the partner agreement:
Tumblr media
Content Creators get 30% of the 'remaining income'. This basically means any costs that streaming platforms are deducting, any processing fees, taxes etc will be deducted before the 30% share is calculated. The second point there basically means that the deductions here do not include business expenses of the label itself, ie when the label calculates its own profit production costs and various other expenses are deducted from the income, but these costs will not affect the revenue received by the content creators (You are probably already thinking 'how is this company earning enough to keep going?' and I will touch on that later as well)
Payment installments are simple enough but here we see a third party enter the chat: DistroKid. Who is DistroKid and why are payments going through them, Hazel? I hear you ask. Well I'll tell you dear readers:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It is basically a service that takes a yearly fee for putting your music on streaming platforms efficiently and then pockets 0% of the royalties. The royalties go from the streaming services (eg Spotify) to DistroKid who then send it to the rights-holders (in this case, lowave records). lowave records is using this service for a yearly fee to upload all their music through.
But wait! If DistroKid is working with lowave, and lowave owns all the rights, why is DistroKid making direct payments to the content creators?
Well, over the years they have offered a bunch of services:
Tumblr media
I am guessing lowave is making use of the teams feature to send royalties owed to content creators ("collaborators") directly from Diskworld, which makes sense, the less people money goes through the less chances of mishandling.
People have of course been talking about what percentage Spotify even pays for many many years. The short answer: we don't know for sure because it is confidential, Spotify won't tell and artists aren't allowed to. The longer answer: people have estimated from a bunch of publically available data that the share seems to be 70-30 (rights-holders- spotify).
Tumblr media
However spotify is not paying per stream anymore so that makes these figures harder to pin down. they are using a 'streamshare' system which is much more convoluted:
Tumblr media
That was all about the money, now let's talk Licensing
Creators can use this music in any capacity, and do not have to share any of the revenue from their own content with lowave. They have put a stipulation that it may not be used in a way that is "illegal, immoral, discriminatory or derogatory to [lowave]" but what constitutes 'immoral' and 'discriminatory' is not really defined.
The other limitation applies to the contracted Content Creators only as far as I can tell: they are not allowed to remix, sample, or edit these songs without prior permission. This probably only applies to altering the songs and playing under the same name, so fan remixes should not run into issues here, as long as they are not monetised. (thanks kate @goldenpinof for making me think about this part a bit more, I think it should be safe, but even royalty free music cannot be transformed without permission at least in a commercial capacity)
Tumblr media
They will also make more music free of cost if the streaming targets they set are being met by the albums produced. The process:
Tumblr media
Other services they provide will be handling the creator's account which they set up (DanAndPhilBeats in this case) on streaming platforms and making changes as required, so the Cheeky Banter -> Project X thing was probably done from their end, possibly an older change that they forgot to update?
Also below are promotional obligations:
Tumblr media
The promotion wasn't a one-time thing, it is expected to be ongoing, so we will probably be hearing about this in future videos as well. However, later in the partner agreement it is added that this has to be done as often as possible in a way that is "natural and appealing to their audience" which again, is pretty vague wording
Tumblr media
Also the licensing goes both ways, so lowave can also use segments of the content DnP make that has the music in the background to promote their music:
Tumblr media
Additional stuff from the contract:
lowave takes the guarantee of creating original works that it has the rights to and which do not infringe on copyrights, and the creators likewise take the guarantee not use the songs in content which infringes copyright. If there are any disputes regarding such infringement in the future the record and the creators have to back each other up (including sharing legal fees)
Tumblr media
I mentioned before some parts of the agreement being written in vague language. There is also a clause that says if any provision ends up being illegal/not possible to enforce by a court (eg if a court were to it's impossible to say whether content featuring the songs was 'immoral') then only that provision will be removed, the rest of the contract stands.
The waiver part basically means that if any of the parties decide to not sue or forgo a complaint about breach of contract, that does not mean that those provisions are now unavailable, they can still sue later on or for some other breach if they wish.
Tumblr media
That's the contracts done. Some of the framing there makes it seem to me like it's a pretty small company. The revenue they hope to generate does not seem to be very sustainable, especially since the revenue is being shared with content creators but the cost is not and they are additionally paying for other services like DistroKid.
So I looked more into this record label: they started business in 2022. If you go to their socials though, twitter and instagram they have followers in double digits and post very sparsely. Their tiktok seems to have nothing on it at all (thanks @lesbiandanhowell for the screenshot) and you may have noticed, Dan did not tag the lowave account at all when he announced the album on twitter
Tumblr media
The agreement never mentions creators promoting lowave's social channels or tagging them either (and it is quite odd, I have worked with a bunch of organisations in their infancy and this is, now more than ever, a common requirement from collaborators). lowave records does not seem to be actively working towards promoting themselves on social media or building an online presence, even though they have been operational two years producing music throughout.
There are three people involved with the company on public record:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Benjamin Johnson listed as 'Head of Production' is probably the 'Ben' Dan has been talking about who made the songs. Seems like their scale of operations is not very big and possibly not a lot of producers in the records at all (despite the spotify page saying they have 'producers' plural, but that doesn't have to mean a lot many lol). Anyway, that would solve the mystery of 'how are they playing their employees?' if there aren't many employees to begin with (not even an intern to manage their social media it seems).
Look at the last person in the screenshots though: Robin. I looked at what other companies Robin is associated with and several of them - yeah several different operations that he's involved in - have the same correspondence address of '60 Thorpe Road...', so probably operating out of a ghost office (just to have a registered address and receive mail at etc). And one of these businesses that Robin is associated with is RWD, the business that made lowave records' website for them:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The no-cost production of royalty-free music, little attention to social media presence, vaguely written contract, seemingly small scale of operations with technical assistance like website design coming from an affiliated organisation makes me think that lowave records might be a side project. A labour of love, possibly, hoping to sustain itself enough to keep putting out royalty-free music in a time of extreme crackdown on copyrighted music use.
It makes sense to use content creators for promotion, gets you way more streaming than making your own music and putting it out. And the incentive of unique but guaranteed royalty free music at no cost is great for content creators of all sizes. It is far from sustainable on its own though, especially with streaming revenue being basically peanuts, and I do not think there's much interest in gaining a following or putting in that effort either, so it's probably a very small business by a few people. How long it manages to sustain itself as a project I am not sure, but it certainly isn't looking like something particularly geared towards profit and growth in its current state.
Tumblr media
We are at an end! If you read this far, leave me like an A+ or a star for my essay so I can have academic validation from this please. Of course I probably have not covered everything possible in connection to this so if anyone has more info feel free to add on! And if this was all very long and there's something particular you wanted to know you can drop an ask into the inbox about it!
Thank you for coming with me on this journey! Back to the important things, which was your favourite song from the album? I think mine is Arcade Admission

Akshara's Passion
Tumblr media
When in her old world, as a way to earn money for needs like food and clothes. She used her passion for dance to do performance for the temples and events. She even uploaded videos of her dances to earn money. She loves to do all kinds of dances must mostly Folk dances.
With only her phone with her in the new world only access to the music videos on youtube but can't call anyone. She uses her free time at night to do her favourite dances in the dorm with Grim as her audience (also a certain dragon watching from the window)
She also sings well as she dances so most videos are background songs

What are Dereks other siblings like? I love your writing so, so much ♡
OHHHHH BOY YOU SHOULDNT HAVE ASKE DME THAT EHHEHEHE
🥇Matt:
-the overachiever always trying to get attention from Sal
-he was Mr. Perfect, doing anything and everything so that Sal could be proud of him (and perhaps get a leg up in taking over his company unlike DEREK). He wants to EARN the company and not be a huge nepo baby like Derek
-he always fights with Derek, seeing his brother as beneath him since he’s so reckless, and thus doesn’t deserve such prosperity!
-has trophies among trophies and medals, at some point Sal stopped displaying them in the trophy case and so most of them just take up room in his closet
-forced to do football and managed to be star quarterback his senior year in high school. He didn’t really care to do it in college, but Sal insisted (it’s cause bro was living through him since he lost his football scholarship when he was in college).
-ridiculously good at math, like he can divide numbers in his head lighting fast
-experiences a bit of physical abuse from Sal, but definitely not as uch as Derek. Its mostly when Matt “disappoints” his dad
-Matt is named after his grandad! (Sal’s dad)
👠Rochelle:
-the much more famous of the siblings
-big time model who’s been on the cover of a couple magazines (nothing like vogue or anything, but definitely bigger than whatever local magazine is in town)
-basically Kate Moss. Eating disorder, coke addiction (the only reason she even stays home is cause of Sal’s coke supply), so thin it makes you jealous
-use to be a pageant girl. Her grandma Esther (Sal’s mom) was so estatic her son finally had a girl (she always wanted a girl of her own), and thus immediately set her up to win pageants and perhaps be miss universe (she made it to Miss Dallas, failed to be Miss Texas and dropped out the running)
-one of the siblings who is NEVER seen. She’s always in her room, working out, or at photo shoots. She does come down for dinner (cause if she doesn’t Sal gets into her for it) and spends the whole time moving food around her plate before giving it to the dog)
-has a little chihuahua she carries around in her purse (the dog is named Princess)
-prom queen, homecoming queen, you name it. If it was a popularity contest she won it!
-had a phase when she was a teen to shoplift drugstore makeuo (even tho she could afford it)
-any abuse she faces is verbal, Sal ironically enough doesn’t hit his daughters (Sal also was so awkward when his daughters were growing up)
🦇Gwendolyn:
-the “goth” sibling
-she has a superiority complex due to her alt style. Thinks that she’s so much better than the “normies” for being goth (she’s…not all that goth)
-is basically ALWAYS in her room listening to music or writing deep poetry (it is as deep as a puddle)
-she always rolls her eyes whenever Sal tells her she looks like a vampire and to wipe that shit off her face
-isn’t that close with the other members of her family, besides Rochelle and Esther
-she insisted she wanted to major in history, but Sal refused to pay for her college if she majored in such a “useless” degree. She didn’t wanna work for scholarships or anything so she majored in science which by Sal’s standards is “much better”.
-her hair is actually brown! She dyes it black with box dye and everyone is always pissed she stains the sink/tub with her box dye. Derek is especially pissed whenever he notices black spots on his towel, throwing them at his sister and saying that she can keep the damn towel.
-learned how to shoplift from Rochelle, mostly just shoplifts makeup and snacks
-yearbook editor! She’s actually unbelievably good at photography, although it’s not something she’s super interested in that she wants to make money off it. It’s a hobby for her. She has a lot of camera lenses and a camera that takes two hands to lift. She also owns a digital camera so she can take more aesthetic pictures.
-has a space hey where she uploads all the pictures from her digital camera. She loves the internet cause she can pretend to be someone and people will give her so much attention
-gets a lot more verbal abuse than Rochelle, mostly just berated for being a weirdo. But Gwendolyn at least stands her ground a bit better than Esther
🪻Esther:
-the “quiet” one
-she actually use to be a lot more outspoken, especially politically. Sal is obviously much more conservative and has a lot of sexist views which just grinded her gears. The two would argue frequently until Sal finally smacked her (the only time Sal hit his daughters) after a certain insult and was like “Don’t you fucking sass mouth me.”
-after that incident Esther just stayed more quiet and hardly talks. One smack (and a bunch of yelling) was enough to break her resolve
-she’s horrified none of her siblings did anything to help her, but then again she also did nothing when Sal was berating them
-she once tried to get her siblings to band together and do something about Sal, but all they looked at each other and went “are you fucking stupid?”
-Esther is named after her grandmother!
-it took her awhile, but she eventually learned its better to not argue. Complicity leads to less problems.
(Honestly I’d love to write the other six but it’s taking me forever and I don’t wanna keep you waiting honey so have the first four 😭)

my horrible horrible Batman/bruce Wayne headcannons
He’s half Sicilian and half Jewish. I will take this to my actual grave/srs
the real reason he can walk away and fight people with broken bones and while bleeding out is because he has an undiagnosed pain disorder. Like the one where you can’t feel pain at all. And has never realized it ever, and the batfam are completely oblivious too. Thomas Wayne (his dad) had it and never noticed either.
he sings songs to his kids, but really really bad covers. On purpose. He also has a secret YouTube music channel called “bats in the belfry” where he uploads his good guitar/vocal covers. He accidentally goes viral, and juggles a triple life as a semi-famous songwriter and singer. No one knows it’s him though, not even the league.
Thomas gave bruce all his old medical texts, and used to teach him first aid when he was little. little bruce loved it so much.
bruce actually has his doctorate in chemistry, engineering, medicine, biology, botany, and he took some random courses about the bats of Gotham and then studied veterinary medicine.
he proudly displays his many doctorates he earned in the same 3 years, in the library where no one see them.
his best friend forever is Harvey dent, even though Harvey and Harv are twoface. he does not care and randomly rocks up to his house with some good brandy, and invites them to his house always and forever.
bruce is actually a good dad, he's just also oblivious and accidentally hurts his kids feelings.
he actually hates being called bruce, and considers it his deadname. he actually one time when he was poisoned got out the name change forms filled them out with the name Bat Bruce Wayne and got his name changed and then he started feeling better after being poisoned he realised that he changed his legal name to Bat Wayne and he could not change it back. he tries to lie about it but he still has to sign forms with his legal name, no one has figured it out yet. everyone just assumes Bat Wayne is like his 9th kid or something.
bruce despite being rich as balls actually hates being rich with a passion, and literally throws his money at anything he can. when he was younger he tried desperately to get rid of all his money via charities, investing in local Gotham shops and chains, and literally paying for any health or medical care thing he could. sadly that only made the entire city of Gotham love him, and sadly he just got 30x the money he put in. and he still doesn't know how. it basically turned into a one upping where bruce tried everything he could to get rid of his money but all that happened was people started to love and adore Wayne tech and Wayne industries, and bruce Wayne's constant stream of donations to literally every single charity he could shove money in their hands. it backfired horribly and now he has a LEGION of international Bruce Wayne fans who literally give him money. he hates every single moment.
he has a weird thing going on with joker, they made out a couple times and they both refuse to ever bring it up. (bruce would have killed him if he didn't kinda have the hots for him and thought he couldn't be redeemed.)
he singlehandedly is keeping all of Gothams diverse bat species alive and well, he also has like 1,000s of pet bats in the batcave.
his favourite colour is actually yellow, but he just likes that black is stealthy.
he actually has tons and tons of scars, and no one really knows because bruce always wears fingerless gloves and long sleeves. they just think it's a fashion statement, bruce just likes covering up his scars.
he started a conspiracy that batman was actually not real and just a cryptid, he leans even more into it as Bruce Wayne.
he picks up all his kids and spins them around at random, because he loves keeping them on their feet.
he's low-key on and off dating both Catwoman and Harvey, while having work husband Clark Kent be his teammate.
the media completely forgets bruce literally has multiple doctorates some times. and when he publishes any work he does everyone is like "oh look it's Bruce Wayne, not THE Bruce Wayne of Wayne tech. science Bruce Wayne of the same name. because the playboy billionaire doesn't publish in scientific journals" and then one time he was invited to give a lecture on poison ivy's plants and the critically endangered Gotham wild rose of which there is only one left and of which he is currently keeping safe in his plant house. anyway everyone was fucking shocked and bruce put on his serious scholarly tone and started talking. while in a yellow Gotham U jumper with coffee stains on it while looking like he was in a car crashes aftermath only moments earlier. (he just forgot to set his bones again.)
bruce has autism and OCD. his special interest is gray ghost, and he fucking hates bright lights. (sun glasses indoors kinda guy)
bruce keeps like 50 photos of his kids in his wallet, 1: because it's funny 2: because he does not bring a phone with him anywhere.
and lastly, when he was doing his tour around the world to learn all types of fighting and escapism. he also learned he was horrible at cooking, just downright destructive.

High School Musical 4: The Reunion brainstorm. Gabriella is a Stanford dropout and self-proclaimed ‘crunchy mom influencer’ with a following of 19.6k people. She and Troy married straight out of high school, had a child out of wedlock, and divorced within two and a half years of which resulted in a nasty prolonged court battle. Troy is a real estate agent who sold Chad and Ryan a home in San Jose worth over $400k and has been coasting off the commission and bragging rights ever since. He has made no other sales since then and owes thousands in child support. Sharpay failed at her dreams of Broadway but is content with her new money lifestyle and managed to snag minor roles in independent films, toppling social media and releases music that debuts frequently on TikTok Billboard 50 charts. Chad and Ryan stayed connected through college and fell in love, Chad is a known dancing instructor mogul in the San Jose area while Ryan is a stay at home husband and father who works on editing and uploading Chad’s content. Sharpay frequently uploads Instagram reels with their adopted son with a bling emoji to cover his face during her frequent visits. Taylor graduated Yale University with honors and a field of interest in American Politics. She earned a JD/Ph.D. from Yale Law School, to which promoted Troy to reach out to her with divorce court advice. She did not reply.

Some random facts about Lucky Charms
Their favorite band is The Orion Experience
They never actually played any instruments when working on gwimbly soundtrack, they just mashed the sounds together in the editing room
They've been clean for 3 years
Smoking was a stress habit for them when they did smoke, it caused them to smell like heavy perfume, now they just smell like regular amounts perfume
At work they have a game with their coworkers were if anyone says mine they have to do 10 pushups/situps, inspired by my dnd group
Their tourettes are motor tics, affecting their mucles in their neck, knees and hands, most frequent when they're anxious or stressed
They pick the marbits out of lucky charms and put them in a zip lock bag to give to whoever wants them
They're taller than gwimbly, im not sure how tall yet because show sizes are wack to me
They still haven't finished all the gwimbly games yet despite owning them all
They're a dog person
Despite their original game music being available on streaming services they make very little money due to the game company taking majority of the profits, they plan to sue them into allowing Lucky Charms more of their much earned earnings. They're afraid to upload their own original songs due to their name being attached to the company.
Telling people their name and what they used to do confuses and surprises people due to their deadname being in the credits back when they identified that way. They cant change it due to it being much older software, however if gwimbly ever got a reboot they'd get it changed immediately.
Lucky Charms loves soggy cereal for breakfast
They also really like sandwiches and bread
Theyve got alot of nicknames for gwimbly. Gwimbles, gwimbs, sparks (this one has no context), gwimbie

Tumblr badges
✨Opinion time!✨
Y'all, the Tumblr profile badges are so cute! However, is it really worth 6 dollars USD? The moon one changes depending on the phase, and that's cool, but it's like paying 6 dollars for a tiny decoration. I wish it was much cheaper. Like, a dollar or something.
Other websites have badges you earn for zero real world currency that you get via challenges. Some Tumblr badges (for a limited time) are like that and that's cool. It's not often though, and that sucks.
I know, I shouldn't compare websites, but throughout history, weren't badges usually earned? As in doing a challenge to get it?
What if instead of paying for the zodiac badge, you unlock it by adding your zodiac in settings? Or by putting in your birthday? Wait, they already do that. Why can't it just be default then?
Perhaps for the writer badge, you submit a piece of writing that's about a paragraph or two long? You tag "Tumblr Writing Badge" in your tags, system checks it, and ta-da!
Or for music, simply upload a playlist, and tag?
I know there's a few flaws there. I know it sounds like what other websites do, but I'm sure people would like it more if people had more accessibility to the feature, instead of it being "buy the badge" only. Not everybody has money.
I love the Aquarius and the moon badge, but no way am I paying those prices for something so small that doesn't even do much. I want to earn it.
Heck, even the earn badges require you to spend money to do it!
Tumblr media
If you love the badges, and you're able to buy them, go for it. I'm just saying my opinion.
Tumblr media
Also, yo, fashion, music, art and photography are more expensive than writing? What gives? 😆 (Joking)
I know some people jump up and say "But it's supporting the website!"
It's Tumblr.
They're popular, but if you're gonna buy something, buy something that's functional. Something that serves more purpose than just decoration. Like the shop they had once upon a time that had gear. Accessories. Something like that.
Of course, again, it's up to you. This is all just my opinion. 🙂

And that's where I was told to split the episode.
The snakes are pretty cool! I like how many of the mutant races are musical, and I definitely appreciate the rock more than what the cats were playing. Great character designs, too. I wonder, will this just earn Kipo safe passage, or will the party now have a second set of allies?
Also, Kipo is obviously a Bard, and Benson is obviously a Rogue, but I'm having trouble pinning Wolf down. Is she just a Fighter, is she a Barbarian based on her background? She fights with...hrm, would you class that as a staff or a spear? I'll have to do some thinking on the subject.
That’ll be it for today’s liveblog! Tune in tomorrow at noon EST for the start of episode 12 of Kino's Journey, or you can tune in to my Twitch channel today at 1 PM EST where I’ll be doing either a speedrun of Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective or starting Final Fantasy IV!
Before I go, I’d like to plug both my blog’s Patreon and my Twitch/Youtube Patreon. Patreon is my only source of income, and while I make enough to cover rent and bills (I make $800-1000 a month) I don’t make a ton of money from it and haven’t been able to save anything up for emergencies (medical or otherwise) in the last decade or so.  Every dollar helps, so if you’re willing, please consider pledging a dollar or two.
Thank you all for tuning in, and thank you to my 44 blog patrons, who make it so I can do this for a living!  I’ll see you next time!
IN OTHER NEWS:
I recently completed my first playthrough of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom!  You can see the full playlist of those streams by clicking here!
I recently completed my first playthrough of Finding Paradise!  You can see the full playlist of those streams by clicking here!
I have an ongoing first playthrough of Final Fantasy XIV that I’ve been streaming on Twitch! If you’d like to tune in when I’m live, I stream it every Saturday at 1 PM EST, and I upload my stream VODs to my Youtube channel!  If you’d like to see that playlist, click here!
If you’d like to help me pay my rent, buy me some food, or help with my bills and medicine, please use my direct donation link!  If you’d like to support me per liveblog completed every month, please pledge to my Patreon!  If you’d like to support my streams or pick a game for me to stream, you can pledge to my stream Patreon too!
You should also go pledge to Gio’s Patreon, or his Sponsus–our Discord server maintenance tech and creator of Rubybot deserves far more than I can afford to pledge to him by myself.
If you’d like more of me and my content:
My Episode Lists master page, where you can find every show and liveblog I’ve done!
My Discord server, where you can come hang out with me and other fans, check out member liveblogs, and join community gaming guilds!
My Twitch channel, where I stream variety games every so often!
My Youtube channel, where you can check out past streams!
My ask blog, where you can send me questions and comments!
My Twitter, where I make announcements about liveblogs and streams!
My merch store, where you can get shirts, mugs, stickers, and more!
It’s your kindness and support that lets me do this stuff, and I wouldn’t be where I am without all of you to do it for.  Thank you all so much for your support, and for tuning in every episode!

My Impossible List
My name is Chester, and I'm sure you've seen this list of things before. Something about it being different from a bucket list (and it is different than a bucket list) -- look, I got my inspiration from Thomas Frank, who got the inspiration from Joel Runyon.
In my own words, the impossible list is a continuous list that inspires growth and documents strides in personal development. A helpful tool that can aide in motivation. Tumblr media
I have not yet tried this for myself but I WILL read about it further, do some more research, wait for a bit more review, and THEN try it out. What is promising is that it can be downloaded and used offline instead of online where the upload-download process is in danger of data mining.
Now, this is not a panacea. The AI arms race is FAST and constantly developing (mid journey can do hands properly now btw). The developers have also chosen not to make this open source in an effort to increase security. This means it can get outdated very quickly. However this is a good place to start and CONTINUE. If you have the skills and/or interest to join projects like these, perhaps this thread is a good place to start.
Some thoughts regarding AI:
I put Artificial Intelligence on an automation spectrum with Fully Handmade/Manually Done/Live Performance/etc on one end and artificial intelligence on the other. Between those lay many tools that reduce human effort, time, and cost. I would then add that as you lose more and more of that, you lose the soul because what is art if not an expression of human soul?
Take music for example. You have a song performed live by singer/s and one instrument or a band or an entire orchestra. Move down one step on that spectrum and suddenly you can fit all those instruments on a keyboard and perform with the singers. The keyboard still requires musicality, physical hand skill to play, and some advance programming of rifts for the different instruments (and some choral, wordless singing) to somehow come in but still. That's a whole lot of people who have suddenly become "unecessary". Then move a step again and all that that keyboard can do can be played on a midi pad. Requires musicality still and a lot more pre-programming but the physical skill set to play it is lesser but still has a live element like during DJ concerts. Step down again and all this can be done on a computer. It can do all the previous but live element is now gone. I thought singers were still safe but with the recent AI on copying a specific person's voice, lyric style, music style, and just overall song style, that's gone too. Congratulations you don't need anyone but one person with an idea. You save a lot of money and can make a lot more than what you invested.
Thanks, we all know that musicians and artists are the jobs that get paid so much that removing them from the equation is anti-gatekeeping (eye-roll & sarcasm).
That is ONE thing I will allow AI, that one person with a half heard melody, a sweeping symphony, an impossible world inside their soul and no idea, time, and money to realize it can have the tools to do so.
But what I find absolutely UNACCEPTABLE is the theft of style, of identity. In art school, realistic drawing is taught in first year. With enough time, anyone can do it. But what sets you apart? Why can a stick figure hyperbolic satire comic be more wildly successful than a painstakingly detailed, scarily accurate painting of an entire city? Why is it also absolutely hilarious for a character painted in the Rembrandt style to be in a pop color, cartoonish grocery? It's about life, the connection, the commiseration, the lenses in which we experience it and the joy in finding something that echoes it exactly. It's so hard to make it big in the arts. We're called starving artists for a reason people. It's not just about technical skill. There's that something more, something about that person specifically, their X-Factor (tm) as they say. To then take that away, filter it down to code, and mass produce it is... it's dehumanizing. It's theft. It's an erasure. And for what? To save money?
What I've seen is that it's the people who struggle to earn a living who's jobs are most easily taken over by automation. Save money, destroy lives I guess. If art is just a commodity for quick money then what is even the point.
This has also given me severe trust issues. Can't trust photos, can't trust videos, can't trust sound bites. Can't trust frikkin anything. I used to think that the Assassin's Creed motto of "Nothing is True, Everything is Permitted" was such an edge Lord, emo phrase to go parading around but the older I get, the more true it becomes and I'm so upset about it.

Hii
How important do you think international fandoms are? As is well known, Dy is one of member who has the strong and loyal Korean fan. Meanwhile, internationally, he has a lot of fans, but not as strong as ty, jh. As for MK and HC, I'm sure both of them have Korean and Inter fans who are just as strong because they are in two units.
Some time ago there was a jaeyong shipper who said that the DJJ unit was an unprofitable unit. Because the fans are few. And he argues that more expected jaetaeyongmark. Because all three are ace of nct. There are also what I believe are jw haters, who say that tende or four seasons are better than djj.
Although it seems that in Korea, DJJ is a trio that has quite strong and loyal fans. But maybe internationally, JW and DY are more secretive than Jae. What do you think?
It is important. SM earns more abroad that at home. Some older groups can continue to perform mostly thanks to international fans. TVXQ are doing a 20 show tour this year in Japan, their recent MVs (songs in Japanese) weren't even uploaded on the main SM channel (only Avex' channel).
US and Japan are the biggest music markets. Germany, UK, France follow. SEA has a lot of young people, it is a new market for k-pop. Globally, streaming still grows. Meaning, even fans from far away lands and islands can contribute some money without buying a single merch or being able to go to a concert.
According to the latest statistics provided by IFPI in their 2022 report, the streaming format accounted for 65% of total global recorded music revenues and 80% in strategic markets like the U.S.
Doyoung's popularity is growing. He isn't going solo yet, so he has time to gain more fans in Japan and Latam.
Mark is in Dream and Super M. Taeyong is in Super M and he is going solo soon.
I like Jungwoo, however I also of an opinion that Tende is superior. Unfortunately, slow songs don't sell as well.
DJJ haven't debuted yet. If they get a bombastic mini, they can interest stans of other neos and non-nct fans. Noone expects a unit to be more popular than the group.
It is true that Doyoung and Jungwoo are less popular internationally than Jaehyun, however they still have millions of fans. It is more important that a lot of fans like 2 or 3 neos in DJJ (DoWoo, DoJae, JaeWoo, not nessesary as ships). Solo stans tend to not support units and collabs, not wanting "others" get the profit "their bias alone deserves".
There are many factors that can determine whether DJJ becomes a success or not. As of now it is one of the most logical units. While TaeMarkJae make little sense, considering TaeMark is the established rap duo, Super M and solo path.

The Ultimate Guide to Uploading Your Track on YouTube with 100% Royalties
YouTube is one of the largest platforms for music consumption globally. For independent artists, it provides an incredible opportunity to showcase their work, reach global audiences, and, importantly, earn revenue from their music. However, with so many distribution platforms and varying royalty-sharing models, it can be confusing to ensure you're getting the maximum amount from your uploads.
The good news is that, yes, it is possible to upload your track on YouTube with 100% royalties. This means you can retain all the earnings from ads, views, and any other revenue generated from your content. In this ultimate guide, we'll walk you through the steps and considerations to make sure that you’re keeping 100% of your royalties while uploading your track on YouTube.
Getting Started: How to Set Up Your YouTube Music Channel
Before you upload any music, the first thing you need is a YouTube channel. Here’s how you can set it up for success:
Create a YouTube Channel: If you don’t already have a YouTube account, start by creating one. You’ll need a Google account to sign up, which will then allow you to create a channel. Make sure to pick a name for your channel that aligns with your artist identity or music brand.
Verify Your Account for Monetization: To earn money from YouTube, you must enable monetization. To do this, go to the YouTube Studio, click on "Monetization" in the left-hand menu, and follow the steps to link your account to Google AdSense. Once your account is verified, you can start monetizing all future uploads.
Customize Your Channel for a Professional Look: Make sure your channel represents you as an artist. Add a profile picture, banner, and fill out the "About" section to let your audience know what your music is about. Include links to your social media accounts and music platforms like Spotify or Apple Music.
Uploading Your Track the Right Way
Once your channel is set up, it’s time to upload your track. To ensure you're maximizing your chances for success and retaining 100% royalties, follow these best practices:
Choose the Correct Audio/Video Format: For audio uploads, YouTube prefers video formats. Even if you're uploading a purely audio track, it’s beneficial to pair it with a simple visual, like a static image, album art, or lyric video. You can upload MP4, AVI, MOV, or other popular video file formats. Make sure the audio quality is pristine (preferably in high-quality formats like WAV or MP3).
Tagging Your Track Properly: Tags help YouTube categorize your music and make it discoverable. Add relevant tags that describe the genre, mood, and even your artist name. Also, use keywords like your track’s name and "official music video" if applicable. This ensures your music reaches the right audience.
Craft an Engaging Description and Title: Write a description that includes important information about your track and music career. Include links to your social media, streaming platforms, and websites. Also, optimize your title by including key phrases like your track name, genre, and "official music video."
How to Ensure You Get 100% Royalties on Your YouTube Videos
Now comes the critical part – making sure that you retain all of the royalties generated from your track. Here’s how you can ensure you’re getting 100% of the royalties:
Use the Right Music Distribution Service: Many independent artists choose to distribute their music through services like Deliver My Tune, which allow you to retain full control over your royalties. With Deliver My Tune, you can upload your music directly to YouTube while keeping 100% of the earnings. By opting for platforms like this, you avoid having to share revenue with a third party or record label.
Avoid Third-Party Claims: One of the biggest pitfalls for independent artists is third-party claims on YouTube. If your music is being distributed by multiple platforms, it can lead to complications and revenue sharing, even if you don’t want it. Choose a distribution service that specifically offers 100% royalties, like Deliver My Tune, which helps you protect your rights and ensure all the earnings go directly to you.
Understand YouTube’s Content ID System: YouTube’s Content ID system identifies copyrighted material within videos. When you upload your music, YouTube scans for similar content, and if there are any matches, the system may automatically claim revenue for that video. To avoid this, you can opt out of Content ID or use a service that manages your rights and ensures you keep 100% royalties, such as Deliver My Tune.
Enable Monetization on Your Video: When uploading, ensure that monetization is enabled. This is crucial for earning revenue through ads on your videos. If your account is eligible for monetization, you’ll be able to select whether you want to earn money from display ads, skippable video ads, and non-skippable ads. Just make sure you have complete control over your content to maintain your 100% royalty rights.
Advanced Tips for Boosting Your Royalties on YouTube
Leverage YouTube’s Super Chat and Membership Features: YouTube offers additional revenue streams beyond ad revenue, like Super Chat (where viewers can pay to have their messages highlighted) and Channel Memberships (where fans can pay a monthly fee to access exclusive content). You can enable these features to increase your earnings on top of the ads, all while keeping 100% of the revenue.
Optimize Your Videos for Better Engagement: The more engagement your video gets, the higher it will rank in YouTube’s search results. Encourage your followers to like, comment, and share your videos. This can help your videos reach a wider audience, leading to more views and more royalties.
Promote Your YouTube Channel on Other Platforms: Cross-promote your YouTube music videos on social media, your website, and other streaming platforms. This drives traffic to your YouTube page and increases the chances of gaining more views, which will translate into more royalties.
Conclusion
By following these steps, you can confidently upload your track on YouTube with 100% royalties, ensuring that you get to keep all the earnings from your music. With the right distribution service, such as Deliver My Tune, and a solid understanding of how YouTube’s monetization works, you can maximize your income while focusing on creating more music. Take control of your royalties and enjoy the benefits of being an independent artist in today’s digital landscape!

The Truth About Free Music Distribution: Upload Your Single on Spotify for Free
In today’s digital music era, getting your music heard by a global audience has never been easier. With platforms like Spotify dominating the streaming industry, independent artists have a golden opportunity to share their music with millions of listeners. However, many artists hesitate to take the plunge, fearing hidden costs, loss of royalties, or complicated processes. The good news is that you can upload your single on Spotify for free without compromising your rights or paying hefty fees. But is free music distribution too good to be true? In this article, we’ll uncover the truth about free distribution services, compare them with paid options, and help you make an informed decision about getting your music on Spotify without breaking the bank.
What Is Free Music Distribution?
Free music distribution refers to services that allow artists to release their music on streaming platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music without upfront costs. Unlike traditional record labels, which often take a cut of an artist’s earnings, free distributors let musicians maintain control over their work while ensuring it reaches a wide audience.
How Do Free Music Distribution Services Work?
Most free distribution platforms operate on a revenue-sharing model or offer limited features without charging upfront fees. Here's how it works:
You create an account – Sign up on a free distribution platform.
Upload your music – Submit your single, including cover art, metadata, and release date.
The distributor sends it to streaming platforms – The service distributes your track to platforms like Spotify.
You start earning royalties – If your song gets streams, you earn money, which is either paid in full to you or shared with the distributor based on their terms.
Popular Free Distribution Platforms
Not all distribution services are created equal. Here are some popular free platforms you can use to upload your single on Spotify for free:
1. Amuse
Amuse is one of the most well-known free distribution services. It allows independent artists to upload their music for free and keeps 100% of their royalties. The downside? You must wait longer for your earnings, and additional features like faster release times require a paid upgrade.
2. Soundrop
Soundrop is designed for independent artists who want a no-frills, free distribution option. It takes a percentage of your royalties instead of charging upfront fees, making it a great option for musicians who prefer not to pay anything initially.
3. RouteNote
RouteNote offers both free and paid distribution options. With the free plan, they take a 15% cut of your earnings, while the paid plan lets you keep 100% of your royalties. It’s a great flexible option depending on how much you’re willing to invest.
4. Level Music
Level Music is another solid choice for free distribution. It allows artists to distribute their music without paying a fee, but it has limitations on how many releases you can upload.
Free vs. Paid Distribution: Which One Is Right for You?
While free distribution might sound like the perfect option, it's essential to understand the differences between free and paid services before making a decision.
Pros of Free Distribution
No upfront costs – Perfect for artists on a tight budget.
Easy to use – Most platforms have a simple upload process.
Great for beginners – Allows new artists to test the waters before investing in paid services.
Cons of Free Distribution
Limited features – Some free platforms restrict access to promotional tools, analytics, and support.
Delayed payments – Free services may take longer to pay out streaming royalties.
Revenue sharing – Some distributors take a cut of your earnings instead of charging upfront fees.
Pros of Paid Distribution
Full royalty earnings – You keep 100% of your streaming revenue.
Faster payouts – Paid services usually offer quicker withdrawal options.
Better promotional tools – Access to pre-save campaigns, playlist pitching, and analytics.
Cons of Paid Distribution
Upfront costs – Can be expensive for independent artists.
No guarantee of success – Paying for distribution doesn’t guarantee more streams.
Common Myths About Free Music Distribution
There are several misconceptions about free music distribution that prevent artists from taking advantage of these services. Let’s bust some of the most common myths:
Myth 1: Free Distribution Means You Lose Ownership of Your Music
This is completely false. Reputable free distribution platforms do not claim ownership of your songs. You retain all rights and control over your music.
Myth 2: Free Distribution Means Low-Quality Service
Many free distributors offer excellent service, and some even provide features similar to paid platforms. However, some may lack advanced marketing tools or priority support.
Myth 3: You Can’t Make Money with Free Distribution
Even with free distribution, you can still earn royalties from Spotify streams. Some services take a percentage, but many allow you to keep 100% of your earnings.
How to Optimize Your Single for Spotify Success
Once you upload your single on Spotify for free, the next step is to make sure it reaches as many listeners as possible. Here are some essential strategies:
1. Create Eye-Catching Cover Art
Your cover art is the first thing listeners see, so make sure it’s high-quality and visually appealing.
2. Optimize Your Metadata
Use relevant keywords in your song title, description, and tags to increase your chances of appearing in Spotify searches.
3. Submit Your Song to Spotify Playlists
Playlist placement can significantly boost your streams. Submit your song to Spotify’s editorial playlists through Spotify for Artists.
4. Promote Your Music on Social Media
Leverage Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter to drive traffic to your Spotify link. Engage with your audience and encourage them to stream and share your song.
5. Use Spotify for Artists
Claim your artist profile on Spotify and use its tools to track performance, update your bio, and connect with fans.
Conclusion
Free music distribution is not a scam—it’s a legitimate way for independent artists to share their music without upfront costs. If you’re just starting, services like Amuse, Soundrop, and RouteNote allow you to upload your single on Spotify for free while keeping your rights intact. However, free distribution does come with limitations, so if you want more control and faster payouts, a paid option might be a better choice.
Ultimately, whether you choose free or paid distribution, the key to success lies in consistent promotion and audience engagement. Don't let fear hold you back—get your music on Spotify and start building your fanbase today! What’s stopping you from releasing your next big hit? Share your thoughts in the comments!
