dumb

The taste that you first gave me

was sweet, but as I gaze through

the memories—it’s been bitter

like a green mango freshly picked

from the tree.

You gave distant and close memories;

that can’t be help to fill me with joy.

My eyes gaze upon you, filling me

with the warm spring air—Yet

your actions bring me back to the cold reality erasing that beautiful image, I gave you.

I slowly reach out to you

in the hope you reach back; realizing

that my hand never left yours Mother.

I’ve become numb to your reproches—

that’s what I like to believe.

But I can’t help to be hurt at your words

that weight more than a falling leaf.

Mother, my dearest—I want to believe

It’s not your fault, but your gaze

tells me otherwise.

Can I love you again like the child

that was born during spring?

Or have I become a chamber of your reflection?

Has my memory tricked me?

To believe that you were the one

To let go first—not me.

…To you, I’ve become a crow

That poked your eyes.

But yet, did you ever realize that,

Your eyes had already been poked?

Or have I become dumb?

Mother, I have desperately clung onto you.

Please forgive this crow,

And give them, their wings back.

So it can slowly reach out,

And have it’s way home

to become the ripe mango that will

fall from the tree, you were never

able to bloom.

Say to the harmed, no worries

Closed eyes fear no repetition

Say to the charmed, no glory

Closed hearts must not be followed
