On this road a while

And the journey has

Don’t take anything personal

This a hard nut to crack and even a harder nut to chew. When people do things to us, we tend to think it is about us. We blame ourselves and replay the scenario in our head countless times, till we become numb.

Don’t take it personally.

The application of this simple yet complex principle to your everyday interactions and relationships will save you from unnecessary heartache. Whatever anyone says, or do, whatever opinions they give are based on their belief systems; in the nurture of their environment and nature of the experiences that shaped them.

Your belief system is the environment that raised you and the experiences that shaped you.

Psychologists often decipher individuals by diving deep into their environment and their experiences. These thought processes and patterns that groomed us is the landing pad that molds our personalities. As we are all aware, the playing field of life is not equal. The playing field of life gives a further explanation into our differences, similarities, the way we think, react, and the choices we make. In the end, all of these things become the foundation of our thinking.

Our belief systems are far from perfect as we all are, and a lot of our thought processes are very unhealthy. We react and travel through life based on our belief systems. We are well adjusted and safe in the security of these walls and have gotten used to never asking questions or challenging the reason behind our actions.

Do you see where I am going with this? When people give an opinion and say things, it becomes easier to apply this principle because now you can see the bigger picture behind the way they reason.

Whatever anyone does or says to you is a reflection of who they are than it is about you.

When negative opinions are projected on me, I have learned and am still learning that it has nothing to do with me. It is a reflection of their minds, the culture that raised them and who they have accepted to be.

Why would l take it personally?
