Hello!
Another meme for the FNAF 10th anniversary week!
This time about Michael burning Fazbear's Fright, with his father (and himself) inside.
FNAF 3 was overhated back then. I remember people wanting FNAF to be over after that game.
Then FNAF 4 came out, and then FNAF SL, FNAF PS, FNAF UCN, FNAF World, FNAF AR, FNAF VR, FNAF SB and the DLCs came out, without counting the dozens of Fazbear's Frights books, and the upcoming games (FNAF ITP, FNAF VR 2, FLAF).
Basically, FNAF 3 wasn't the end. It was just the beggining.
LOL
I'll post more content, now that I'm feeling better since today (I hope).
See you later

Manhwa Rec: Concubine Walkthrough
Remember when I made a whole post recommending a manhwa because no one else I knew read it so I could find someone to talk to about it? Well, we're back at it again a whole year later for me to tell y'all to go read Concubine Walkthrough. It's 128 chapters (with some bonus content) of pure excellence.
While on the surface looking like a typical otome isekai read of 'MC transmigrates into the body of a story's villainess', Concubine Walkthrough turns the genre on its head with its implementation of sci-fi, philosophy and political battles in addition to beautiful artwork and heart-wrenching storytelling. If you're a fan of The Apothecary Diaries and The Matrix, you will enjoy this ride thoroughly.
Concubine Walkthrough follows the journey of protagonist Yona Lee who in 2030, three years before the start of the story, played a game called Concubine Walkthrough. A popular and innovative otome game falling the protagonist Lili who has been forced to go to the imperial palace to become a concubine.
Max out the various stats Lili has to embark on one of many paths from marrying the emperor to royal imperial consort. Of course the one who stands as the pinnacle of obstructing your progress is villainess, Ranhee Seo, the royal imperial consort the terror of the imperial court.
Yona was only able to play this game to completion once in her life although the desire to complete other endings always remained. Three years later, that chance comes again when, for its upcoming anniversary, Concubine Walkthrough is having a special VR rerelease. That's all fine and dandy, what isn't fine and dandy though is the fact that Yona has woken up in the game without any memory of ever logging on. Furthermore, she's playing as the game's villainess, Ranhee.
Nothing she does will summon the game's menu and nothing she does let's her log out. The game master only gives her one requirement to exit the game, Marry the emperor and make Ranhee Seo the empress.
It's only then that Yona remembers that for the special VR release of the game, one of the promoted features of the rerelease was a co-op mode and she might not be the only player stuck in the game as she is forced to strategize and partake in deadly games within the world of concubines.
Through its storytelling, Concubine Walkthrough encourages both the readers and characters alike to contemplate:
If you woke up one day and realized your entire life was a simulation, does that make your life any less meaningful? Simulated it may have been, the pains and joys your heart experienced was still real to you. It's still your life.
What is reality and what does that mean to you? Is reality something you choose for yourself or is that choice made for you?
All wrapped in unique artwork, comedy gold and riveting political plots as you watch Yona survive plots on her life and has to strategize her get backs.
1) Beautiful Artwork
Concubine Walkthrough is one of the most splendid manhwas in terms of artwork. It's drawn intentionally to look reminiscent of traditional Korean artwork and is incredibly intricate from the hanbooks to the headpieces the various characters wear.
These are just a few of my favorite shots from the series but they are far from the only ones. From the very first chapter, you're getting hit with bangers in terms of the quality. Bongbong never misses.
2) The comedy is immaculate
From Yona getting stuck with shitty items like a hairclip that gives her the sense of smell of a dog but compels her to bark uncontrollably to getting a jar that's literally only full of candy.
Yona's luck with items is absolute dog water and because of that, she can find herself in some hilarious situations. She can't get anything good to save her own life and seeing how she has to make these items work is a treasure in its own right.
Even without that, Yona's dynamic with characters like Lili is quite hilarious as the story progresses.
3) The mystery & philosophy
Even Yona's eyes are representative of red and blue pills given to Neo in The Matrix.
If you're a fan of sci-fi, romance and want to read an otome isekai romp that subverts your expectations? Please read this manhwa. It's The Matrix mixed with historical Korean fiction (and of course, otome isekai at its finest).
I loved loved LOVED the philosophy behind the story, the themes. The discussion of what reality is and choosing what reality means/is to you.
Just because your entire life is a simulation, does that make your entire life up until that point irrelevant? Simulated it may be, your joy, your pain, your love, all of that still felt real, right? There were so many things I never considered about that very topic until I read this series.
4) The Characters
There is not enough time in the day to delve into the characters of Concubine Walkthrough. They're all layered, complex and you won't be able to get enough of them as the story progresses. Even now after finishing the story months later, I still want more content concerning the cast. From protagonists to side characters.
Yona is a very compelling protagonist from start to finish. She's active, rather than letting things just happen she gets the jump on what she can. Her intelligence and her empathy as well as her comedic genius is so fun to watch along the beautifully illustrated pages. Not to mention her chemistry with characters Lili and Youngjung is a sight to behold.
Sadly, despite how key Lili and Youngjung are to the plot, I cannot delve too deeply about them due to spoilers. What I can say, however, is that Lili is a breath of fresh air on the trope of having the original protagonist of the source material interact with the story's female lead.
And Youngjung? In a lot of ways he represents the themes I was discussing in my previous point.
And of course, I cannot mention Concubine Walkthrough without bringing up Sunshine in any capacity. The mysterious eunuch who has become Yona's ally in this game. Like Lili and Youngjung, I cannot delve too deeply into this character without major spoilers but just know that even when you think you finally have the grasp on this character, Bongbong will still manage to flip the script on its head and surprise you. Multiple times even.
ー
And I think that's enough singing praises for this manhwa (not really). Like I said, this manhwa is The Apothecary Diaries meets The Matrix wrapped up in the bow of the otome isekai genre. Not only do you get beautiful artwork but a vibrant cast and deep story along with it.
A violent yet captivating world of concubines with a strong splash of sci-fi sounds like such a strange mixture, but Bongbong blends them beautifully into one of the best stories I've ever read.
Please, and I cannot stress this enough, give Concubine Walkthrough a read.

A Miyazaki quote from an old interview about deracine. It’s pretty obvious Lady Maria’s design is somewhat inspired by the shoujo Girl Prince trope a la Lady Oscar and Utena. But beneath the design, there’s honestly a lot of similarities between the Utena and Lady Maria’s characters and (to a lesser extent), Anthy and Saint Adeline. Maria cares for the Research Hall patients while still participating in and upholding the system that harms them in first place, similar to how, even though Utena cares for and wants to protect Anthy, her participation in the duels is again, participating in and upholding the system that harms Anthy in first place. Maria and Utena have different motivations for their actions (Maria is guilty, Utena is chasing the ideal of prince hood), but at the end of the day both of them are trying to good things within the constraints of a system that doesn’t allow for good things. Adeline and Anthy are similar in that both of them are trapped by their media’s respective systems, and coerced into playing a role. For Anthy, the rose bride. For Adeline, a blood Saint. There’s also something to say about them both being women, and how they are viewed less as people, and more as bodies to be used. For me at least, there is something deeply uncomfortable about taking the (always female) NPCs blood in this game.
Anyways, is this just me looking for parallels between two of my favorite medias? Is there some ground to this other than Miyazaki offhandedly saying he likes shoujo? Who knows!
#Bloodborne#lady maria#saint adeline#are there other Bloodborne fans that fw utena#I was like oh I should draw maria and Adeline in that one Anthy and utena pose :D#and the I started to receive the Visions

Nintendo Game Cube - Sonic Mega Collection
Title: Sonic Mega Collection / ソニック メガコレクション
Developer/Publisher: Sega (Sonic Team) / VR-1 Japan
Release date: 19 December 2002
Catalogue Code: DOL-GSOJ-JPN
Genre: Compilation / Variety
You know of the first four Sonic games already - good platformers. These are presented in mostly their original form, except for a few graphical modifications. These do not affect the overall experience, and die-hard fans should not be put off. Sonic Spinball is a slightly mediocre game - imagine the pinball areas in the Casino Night levels of Sonic 2, with the difficulty upped and the gameplay quality lowered - this one's an acquired taste (I personally hated it as much as that Dinoland game from Wolfteam).
Mean Bean Machine is excellent - this is just Puyo Puyo with a Western twist, and the Sonic license slapped on to make it sell. Flicky may be off-putting due to the dated graphics (I'm not kidding - I played it 2 times on my Mega CD already) but is an addictive game which originally started back in the arcades in 1984. Ristar is the best game on the disc, but you probably didn't know that this was there. Do you know why? Because in Sega's infinite wisdom, the company has chosen to lock it out until you start every other game 50 times. Personally, I think that the people putting the disc together thought they were funny.
One HUGE scar on the surface of this pretty little optical disc - NO SONIC CD: the best 16-bit Sonic game ever (IMO) has been sadly not included in the compilation due to hardware emulation difficulties (the game was on the Mega CD; a port of the 1996 PC version would be included in Sonic Gems Collection). Knuckles' Chaotix (32X) is also missing, and while I miss it, I don't see this as a huge problem.
Visually, the games still look great. Of course, they have technically aged, with the possible exception of Ristar - its use of the Genesis hardware and its extreme colorfulness make it too hard to criticize. (Make sure you're using the RGB cable, or if you live in North America, the next best thing, is S-Video - or Component if you can afford it!) The audio's also hard to fault. Some of the menu songs on Spinball are so grating you'll wanna put your TV on mute (thanks a lot, GEMS sound driver!). But the catchy songs of the other games (Chemical Plant in Sonic 2, anyone? Starlight Zone in the original?) are still good after all those years.
Oh, and the Japanese disc also includes The Ooze and Comix Zone. I liked Comix Zone's music. Despite using GEMS, the music is strangely awesome.
Along with these classic games, Sonic Mega Collection has some extras up its sleeve. Remember the lovely Sonic CD anime intro which we also got to see in Sonic Jam on the Saturn? Well, you probably would, if that game was on this disc. On the Mega CD, the frame rate was poor, the video size was tiny, and the colors were nasty. But it was a stunning intro. The PC version of Sonic CD lets fans see the intro in its proper colors. Squashed into a tiny window and badly resized (read: pixilated!) Sonic Jam came closer, but Sonic Mega Collection finally lets us see the intro (and ending sequence) in broadcast quality, full screen, full speed. The sequence was animated by Toei Animation, who I believe is also to blame for "Digimon", and is stunning. This version has the American music "Sonic, You Can Do Anything" dubbed over the original Japanese rap song, but in all honesty, I prefer the American version as far as the one in this disc is concerned.
It's not perfect though. A graphical smoothing option on the emulator would have been nice like is available on PC emulators. The rest of the movies are cop-outs. Rather than giving us the selection of TV commercials on Sonic Jam, Sega has decided to give us advertisements for current and upcoming games. Oh, and a really bad "History of Sonic" video, nowhere near as good as Sonic Jam's museum section. There are also lots of comic cover scans, some of which are nice, but because these are the American Archie comics, some are painful too.
Overall, Sonic Mega Collection is worth picking up, considering how many titles you're getting on one disc. The fact that Sonic CD isn't included is a huge kick in the stones, but considering Ristar is here (albeit in a nearly impossible-to-unlock form), as well as other classic Sonic games, movies, and illustrations, it's hard not to recommend.

Kamitsubaki City Under Construction: "Ensemble" and "Regenerate" (and "Regenerate Virtual Reality") are coming soon -- and will be in English!!! (AKA: my "PLEASE PLAY KAMICITY" shill post)
What is Kamitsubaki City and Virtual Witch Phenomenon?
A thread for newcomers to Kamitsubaki, in light of the 3 new games upcoming! This is the oversea's first look at Kamitsubaki's stories and creative worlds. (Slightly edited mirror of my thread on Twitter!!)
Kamitsubaki Studio is a Japanese creative music group. They're most known for their music group Virtual Witch Phenomenon -- comprising of their 5 main virtual singer talents: Kaf, Rim, Harusaruhi, Isekaijoucho, and Koko.
youtube
Kamitsubaki City Under Construction (henceforth referred to as simply KamiCity) is a series of games that tells the story of a mysterious city in the virtual world that constantly self-destructs and reforms. The members of VWP are characters in KamiCity, and have different names.
ALSO SUBSCRIBE TO VWP!!!! and the individual members too!! They all have such unique and stunning voices, and such beautiful songs too!!! They each have their own style that's drawn their own individual fanbases but they unite so beautifully and melodiously as VWP...
Kaf - Morisaki Kafu
Rim - Tanioki Rime
Harusaruhi - Asanushi Haru
Isekaijoucho - Yorukawa Sekai
Koko - Rinne Koko
The five girls were brought to KamiCity from the real world into the virtual world, as the mystical "witches" who could sing to save them from the apocalypse.
KamiCity as a game series started with KamiCity Emergence, a limited-run mobile game in 2021 in which players solved word puzzles known as "Q's." And then KamiCity Narrative released earlier this year (2023), a VN/TTRPG-style game. Both are Japanese exclusive, though.
KamiCity Ensemble, Regenerate, and Regenerate Virtual Reality are the three new games here.
KamiCity Ensemble is a rhythm game for mobile and Steam. The key visual focuses on the Isotope versions of VWP -- you may know the CeVIO Kafu as one of them.
The isotopes/CeVIOs (now SynthV and VOICEPEAK too) are Kafu, Sekai, Rime, Coko, and Haru. Before now, the Isotopes have had very few involvement or connection with KamiCity, with only Kafu appearing in the "Emergence" soundtrack (NOT the story.) What their connection is to the Witches and KamiCity in-lore is still unknown, which is super interesting!
KamiCity Regenerate is a visual novel for Steam and Switch, seeming to focus on the story of KamiCity in full detail.
In Emergence and Narrative, the story was only in bits and pieces. Regenerate (and Ensemble) is also a huge deal because they're in English too!
The VR version seems to be roughly the same, although having exclusive 3D visuals. It's also undetermined at this point what platform it will be on.
Kamitsubaki Studio has repeatedly blown me away by their music and intrigued me by their world of KamiCity (which is also featured in their music videos) so I'm so excited to see it in full!! PLAY KAMICITY PLEAAAASEEEE!!!!!!!!! and listen to their music/watch the music videos IT'S SO GOOD!!!!!

Payoff
So this session has been 7 months in the making.
I'm running a campaign for my nieces (8 and 10). Shortly after we started, they asked if it could take place in outer space. So while I don't like borrowing characters and stifling more creative options... I figured it'd allow me to buy toys for myself (see: Riker in the background of this picture) and might entice them to take an interest in a show I'd like them to like, so the spaceship that comes to help them on their mission is none other than Picard's Enterprise.
We've been playing for some time now. I think over a year at this point, at least. 7 months ago we visited Austin from across the country for my sister's wedding, and I knew an upcoming battle would be an underwater encounter with Leviathan. I asked my friend in Austin to print a normal sized model, but he insisted on printing this beast. I tried both air brushing and dry brushing for the first time with it, and I'm decently satisfied with how it turned out
Yesterday, we painted some underwater creatures that they would be fighting against (one that would fight alongside them via charm animal).
Anyways. Today was the day of the reveal. They were blown away by the figure, though the escape sequence that followed (despite my recreating the mini-game in JavaScript to run it thousands of times in an attempt to balance it) was a relatively simple one, until near the end when my niece said, "I want the Leviathan to be faster."
It started gaining very quickly. It got very tense, and Riker was down to one health by the end of it. They burst out of the water, the Leviathan's jaws closing around them just as the Enterprise transported them back on board.
They even saw the bridge and the holodeck for the first time today. I had stupidly never shown them what the inside of the Enterprise looked like, so each time I said they were on the "bridge", they had been very confused. I have a thing set up on my Quest VR headset so they can see those two locations, so they were able to see those in VR today.
Afterwards, they mentioned they liked Stardew Valley, but the beginning was really sad. I told them sometimes people like sad stories, and that there's a very good Star Trek episode that's a very sad story (referring to The Inner Light). They've never seen an episode before, but they seemed anxious to see it, and were disappointed that we couldn't today because my Blu-ray player is being repaired.
But yeah, I finally won them over. They're interested in seeing Star Trek now, and were even worried that I'd forget to show them next time when my player was fixed.
I sort of would prefer not to show them Inner Light as the first, because the way Picard clutches the flute at the end hits a bit harder when you know how cold and distant he usually is, but I'm not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth (a human proverb).
