Lol. she literally just has to pout for two seconds.
(she is currently loopy and Feralā¢ because she cut her hand on some magical toxic coral and keeps eating fish and also jumping into the water at the marine park to swim in the exibits)
[ID: A video clip from the show H2O: Just Add Water, showing Rikki trying to dry Emma off with a hairdryer while she lies in her bed in her mermaid form, with white scales covering her torso instead of the usual orange. Rikki is saying over the sound of the hairdryer, mid-sentence while knocking Emma's protesting hands out of the way, "--fish, forget about the fish!" Emma puts her arms down and pouts up at Rikki in silence for a few moments. Rikki immediately straightens and turns off the hair dryer, and exclaims, "Alright! I'll be back in a second." Emma's pout immediately turns into a smile as Rikki goes to leave the room. End ID.]

someone who doesn't have audio processing disorder please make a transcript. Those subtitles are too small for me unless I squint.
I made another high effort video. I spent like 6 months writing and rewriting this. The original ending was me taking the flowers to the spot O'Shae Sibley was shot and asking audiences to think about why so much ballroom slang has to do with mortality and the mic drop is asking "why I am at a gas station."
The ending felt flippant and so I returned to the spot in the next morning and shot what I shot. I consider my video essays slowly building an argument and this being the first time I introduce my feelings on reparations - I kinda was using illustrative language by saying "white people owe reparations but also we owe reparations," and I'd like to think that sentence stands on it's own but my feelings on the matter is white institutions owe material reparations but also us white people, individuals, owe interpersonal acts of healing and repair. The ballroom scene is owed your consideration for providing language that a lot of us are so flippant about.
A long, long, long term goal that no one should wait on because I already have a lot on my plate right now is I wanna do a video essay "The White People's Case for Black Reparations," because I like framing white anti-racism as ultimately a selfish self-interest ordeal. Acts of reparation, of repair, benefits the repairer as much as those who receive repair.
I got a couple of big video essays I wanna do, but I think from here I want to take another short break to finish my YouTube video essay, because I'm really burned out on TikTok and I've started making more and more Tiktoks about Tiktoks which is never a good thing.

I will not be watching an unsubtitled video by a "gaming influencer" who releases multiple SEO-optimized videos per week, and is sponsored by what appears to be some form of subscription service for underpants. I will certainly not be watching the last ten such videos to find "the part where they talk about this".
There exists only a single situation in which I ever agree to take on such grim tasks as this: when an individual has been accused of a crime or made subject of a lawsuit relating to their online presence, and I am being paid to review their social media output for relevant evidence; to appropriately-format its contents for entry into the record and/or presentation to a jury; to prepare responses to discovery requests; and/or other tasks requiring a level of both technical and legal training. If retained on behalf of the defense, I will expect the full cooperation of the defendent and their management and production staff.
If I have misunderstood your situation, and your favorite "influencer" is - in fact - in need of assistance in preparing for trial, then they may email me to discuss my rates and provide the discovery timeline.
But I'm not watching their slop until they sign the fucking contract.

The worst part of becoming interested in a kpop band:
watching a (no longer) live broadcast in japanese/korean
The best part of becoming interested in a kpop band:
watching a (no longer) live broadcast/unsubtitled show because if a video needs to be in the backround as lovely noise while you do other stuff, you might as well glance over occasionally to see a fully grown man act silly

Watching an unsubtitled RMPG thing off of Bili and they're doing a competition on a TV show of some kind and they're split into four teams. The team leaders are Zin, YamaSho, Likiya and ... Riku.
Not gonna lie, I clicked on this video because I still have the impulsive thought of "Who the fuck put Riku in charge of anything?" š (I'm sorry, baby, I love you, I feel like your leadership skills have in fact improved with time)
They played rock paper scissors to decide the drafting order and of course Riku lost š
YamaSho grabs Kazuma first thing, then Zin steals Kaisei (and I'm like "Oh, you did that on purpose" š), Likiya grabs Ryu, and Riku gets Makoto (I can't tell if the sound Makoto made was a happy "Yassha", I think it was? š)
Second round - YamaSho grabs Shohei, Zin grabs Itsuki, Likiya grabs Takuma and Riku takes Hokuto.
Third and final round - YamaSho grabs Kenta, Zin Shogo, Likiya Takahide and that leaves Rui with Riku (so he did only slightly worse than we ask Tumblr who their favorite member is š)
Later on, we get a shot of each of the tables.
My immediate response to this shot was "Oh, it's Likiya and his three youngest sons" š

Hey!!! I saw your post about the ace attorney musicals while I was searching for a way to watch them, the videos you linked have been copyright claimed and removed sadly :( this is a long shot but I was wondering if you knew of a way to watch them nowadays? I don't really care if they're subtitled or not
No worries!
There is still a subtitled version of musical 1 up here, unfortunately the subtitles are a bit out of sync for like the first hour or so but it improves eventually. It's also so low quality :( but that's the price we pay I guess.
You can find unsubtitled musical 2 here, and unsubtitled musical 3 here. You can download a subtitle file for musical 3 here, though I don't believe it's timed to that video, so you'd either have to retime it or read alongside it yourself.
In addition, I downloaded the copy of musical 2 that was on youtube for myself before it got taken down, so I still have that. I'm not comfortable sharing the link publicly - the original subtitler seems to have disappeared but didn't seem to want their work reposted, which is why I don't want to just put it out there publicly - but if you DM me I can give you the drive link to download it yourself.

Your nostalgia trip made for a good read. Part of the reason I sent it was because I was reading an article on that film's Japanese release and also was surprised to learn that the film was released in Japan. https://legendsoflocalization.com/movies-in-japanese-01-the-wizard/
I hope they didn't rip on us too hard over it, got a friend I'm gonna need to send this to as well.
This picture, wildly curious about Japanese Ferris Buler
This time weāll be looking at a subtitled VHS version of The Wizard, which was known as Sweet Road in Japan.
While the movie is often considered a 100-minute Nintendo commercial among gamers like us, it feels a little different when looking at it from the outside in. Itās touted more as a fun road adventure/coming-of-age movie in Japanese, hence the āSweet Roadā title. Even if you canāt read any of the Japanese text, you can see this change in focus from the art on the back of the box. Itās described as a ālighthearted and touching American road movieā and the tagline at the top says:
Heroes donāt cry. We headed to California in pursuit of the rest of our dream.
The presentation and title give it a strong āweāre going for a Stand by Meā vibe, which weāve previously seen is a big deal in Japan.
(I'd rather this than the actual Stand By Me)
The movie title changed for its Japanese release, but the new title appears before the actual movie begins. Then, when the original title pops up in English, nothing is displayed in its place. Itās probably assumed that the audience understands that the title was changed for Japanese audiences. The back of the Japanese box randomly includes the original āThe Wizardā logo too, so that connection probably helps explain the situation too.
On a different note, an 80s song plays during this intro scene. Itās left untranslated and unsubtitled though. Itās pretty normal to see songs untranslated in English-to-Japanese movie translations unless the lyrics hold some meaningful connection to the story or to whatās happening on screen at the same time. Basically, if a song is used as a decoration for setting the mood, itās pretty normal to see it untranslated.
Also, from personal experience, Japanese companies are weird about lyrics and their songs having separate licenses, which means that even if you have permission to use a song in a video, you donāt necessarily have permission to translate the song. Those rights have to be negotiated separately. This is why anime songs donāt always get translated right away. I donāt think thatās whatās going on here, though ā I feel like itās just the standard āitās only audio decorationā approach. __________________
I gotta get up for a few, I will be reading this though it looks like a wildly fascinating look into how American culture gets translated elsewhere, since it's just such a basic film plot anyhow.
This is cool thank you

From a YouTube comment I just wrote
Link (cw: reaction video)
Star Wars and Indiana Jones are both cut from the same cloth: pulp fiction. The magazine format, not the Tarantino film. Pulp comics were cheap, trashy stories built around broad character archetypes and thrilling good-vs-evil violence; I fully get why they're fun and nostalgic, but they push a British colonialist viewpoint of noble men in savage lands that's very much descended from Rudyard Kipling. Takeaway, pulp fiction is a fun storytelling genre but it's best not to let it shape your world-view.
Regarding the changes to the film over the years: I'm sure many other commenters (online or meatspace) have mentioned that the CGI was added after-the-fact, as were the "Episode 4" and "A New Hope" parts of the title... but the title change happened much much earlier than the CGI change. In the time of Episode 5 (1980), it suddenly went from a standalone movie to first in a trilogy, so they updated the title of the first film. That change was a lot less controversial compared to Lucas's digital remasters just before Episode 1 (1999). Nobody grew up on "Episode ā
: The Unsubtitled" VHS tapes: in 1977-1980 home video releases weren't yet a thing, and taping things at home off of broadcast TV was incredibly rare (the tech was immature and outrageously expensive then). Nope, people grew up on the "Episode 4: A New Hope" name that you actually saw here, and they always knew it as first in a trilogy. There wasn't a real opportunity for a widespread "they changed it now it sucks" outcry, because the only crowd who knew the difference were people who watched it during that three year gap and were old enough to remember the old version.
A brief rant:
IMO, the "they changed it now it sucks" folks have a good point here and there, but I also see Lucas's thinking in 1999 about how a new generation was going to grow up with a Star Wars trilogy, and he wanted the original trilogy to look less jarring to people born in 1990-1994 even if people born in 1967-1972 hated the remaster changes... especially how a lot of cutesy squeaky animals were added in the Tatooine establishing shots and, yes, Greedo shooting at Han and missing. A lot of it boils down to kids my age screaming that ThunderCats the children's cartoon about teamwork was cool when we grew up, but the new ThunderCats is a children's cartoon about teamwork and that's earnest and cringe and I can't believe we're exposing younger generations to it, because ThunderCats the children's cartoon of the 1980s was gritty and dark and sarcastic like the stuff I'm into now as a teenager. Neo and Trinity and Morpheus just really get me, mom.
All that said: it's awful that we don't have a Blu-ray that has both VHS-era and remaster on them, though.
#cringe#i am cringe but i am free#star wars meta#star wars prequels#star wars remasters#pulp fiction#irony poisoning

I absolutely love so much how youtube doesnt let people submit suggested subtitles to unsubtitled youtube videos if the uploader didn't add them, and how it instead defaults to auto generated captions.
do AIs sleep, perchance dream? ah, there's the ru- oh sorry wait. "I asked her up"
#:/#if i walked up to any english speaking human on this earth rn and asked them to complete the sentence:#to sleep perchance to dream#pretty damn near 100% chance theyd say āah theres the rubā#not this guy#wild that it can detect old english wish't and stuff but not more modern words like rub

politely requesting ramblings/info on any gin to kin merch or pachinko machines that may exist i cannot get enough of those funky guys
Unfortunately there's not much in the way of merch the same way there is for kaiji/akagi, but there is a HISTORY that gtk has.
Like 7 movies. 7 entire live action movies. Seven Whole Films. each over an hour long, all about an hour 30 min.
Cannot understate that this franchise has had more live action films than any fkmt work. Seven whole MOVIES
Since I have a series where I watch and react to live action fkmt adaptations (as slowly as i've been updating that...), I will watch them eventually! but since they're only available unsubtitled and untranslated, I plan to save them for last to give myself the most time to really Prepare so im not just sitting there trying to process things the whole time without talking about what's happening.
I have 3 rental discs from this series :) they don't work and they're old and scratched up, but they're a neat collectors item (dirt cheap too)
There ARE also multiple pachinko and slot machines! I have a couple dvds from them (promotional discs, so they just contain like 4-7 minutes of ads)
The slot machines (made by Taiyo Elec) take on a more 2d style
While the pachinko machines (made by Maruhon) have more of a 3d style to them! both images are screencaps from the discs I have (Havent uploaded anywhere yet because the contents r copy protected but I havent tried in a LONG time so Iāll give it another shot)
As one might also guess, there are no known video game adaptations of gtk. BUT, the characters have been featured in two games to my knowledge
1. This kaiji social game from 2013 that was only around for a year
2. The recent Poker Chase collaboration
Yeah thatās really it to my knowledge
...as for merchandise, thereās not much.
The largest source for gin to kin merch, and most merch for underrated fkmt properties, is allstars
Some different keychains and straps exist for fkmt allstars ginji and morita
For the og manga, thereās whatever this is. Seems to be promoting the drama, or the version of the manga that was printed around the time the drama was out.
Which brings me to the drama! In 2017 there was a live action drama
Honestly I donāt know how to feel about it. It was one of the very few legally accessible fkmt adaptations for a long time being on U.S. amazon prime so iād watch it ENDLESSLY but since itās removal Iāve barely watched it on my own time (I like to have my media downloaded offline so i do have it+other fkmt dramas just in a folder)
There is a piece of merch for this drama, being a mug
#gin to kin#fkmt#ask#i don't recommend either the drama or 90s movies without CWs because women are not treated well in them#not just like haha fkmt work poorly written women i mean outright terrible scenes in both

There is no longer a Subtitled Programs category on CL Live, which - thanks, guys, very useful decision there.
But it also means I'm less likely to watch videos from, let's be real, non Rampage groups. If the only way to find subtitled videos is to pick an artist and scroll through their listings until I find the magic Subtitles button, I'm gonna pick artists I already care about because I'm more willing to watch an unsubtitled video from them if I can't find any new subtitled videos
