I hated Kiyoi for all cliché bully things he did but the one that tips me off is that graduation pull-kiss-shove I would still like to punch him for that.

The Untamed is way overrated and so is KinnPorsche

Censored Chinese bromances should NOT count as BL and should always be watched illegally

Most Korean BL is absolutely fine at the shorter length

NO SECOND SEASONS

Make it Right is great

The stepbrother trope is super sexy and so is age gap

High school set BL is ALWAYS welcome and university set BL is fine too

Most Thai BL pulps have better chemistry in mere cheek kiss than all Korean BL Kdramas in general (and Cdramas for that matter)

IRL shipping is absolutely gross and extremely creepy

If the story doesn't need high heat, it shouldn't be in there (I know, I shocked you didn't I?)

For Cutie Pie, I didn't realize there were Big Feelings but I genuinely don't think it's a bad show. Saw it get a lot of criticism while airing but like, visually it looks better than most 2019/2020 BL which made it at least enjoyable to watch visually. Sure the story is all over the place and convoluted at times but so was TharnType and it was visually much more appealing to look at than Until We Meet Again or 1000 Stars and everyone loves those shows.

Idk what the popular opinions in fandom are but like, I know ppl are super paternalistic over NuNew and I think that's flat out fucking weird. I'm majorly against para-social relationships in general, but like, ppl were going hard "mama bearing" NuNew and that's so damn strange to me. Like sure I want CooHeart to be safe b/c they're an out queer actor in an unfriendly industry/society but I don't look at them and go "aw my baby, my child, he shouldn't ever do intimate scenes that's not appropriate" like he's adult wtf??? NuNew might be young (I think he's like 22/23?) but he's still an adult in his profession and also a fucking stranger???? He doesn't need other strangers - like wtf is Carol from Kentucky gonna do? - "protecting" him I'm sure he has friends and industry people who can help him and guide him.

So I guess that might be an unpopular opinion

For Kinnporsche, whew oh boy I'ma come out with it and note this has NOTHING to do with the recent shit do not message me about that I don't wanna be involved:

Build didn't give me anything in the intimate scenes with Vegas and Bible out-acted him every step of the way. Like, their sex scene? I was unimpressed b/c Build was just not giving, he had no facial expression really, and once I noticed that I couldn't not notice it. It was especially jarring during the last Vegas/Pete kiss in the after credits scene b/c Build didn't kiss Bible back he just dead fished. I like VegasPete as a ship, and Pete as a character so I could overlook this but yeah that's how I felt and I know this is def an unpopular opinion

Second, and I know this is unpopular in general for BL but I dislike acting ships and would LOVE to see some switch ups. I think Apo and Bible would do some major magic on screen - both just in general but also playing a couple - along with like, Bible and Jeff too. I think keeping all the actors locked in "pairings" ie: Mile/Apo, Bible/Build, Jeff/Barcode is boring creatively (I feel the same about other acting pairings too not just the ones at BOC for the record, like I think Zee and Max would kill a series together too). I know this is unpopular b/c I've seen stan twitter in regards to the BOC pairs and it's annoying lol I'm super excited for the MileApo historical drama like any classy bitch but I think it'd be dope if they also worked with other actors

Why it's funny to me that people give Way sooo much shit but think Charlie is the best thing that ever happened to Babe:

Okay so first of all, I am NOT a Way apologist. That boy is crazy and sick in the head and a very deep shade of red when it comes to red flags, but the thing is? Charlie isn't that much better?? Im not even talking about the 'Charlie faked his death and it hurt babe' part. I don't even really care about that. I'm talking about up to episode 8. Because at least up until the moment that Way snapped and tried to actually r*pe babe, the things he and charlie were doing weren't that different. 'Oh but Way used his powers on Babe and brainwashed him and controlled his whole life.' Exactly. Way used the privilege Babe gave him to get close to him whenever he wanted, to put his hand on his shoulder, and use his power on him to steer things in the direction he wanted. Each time Babe thought his best friend was being affectionate, he was actually being abused in the worst way possible. Babe trusted him with his love and the power to come close and touch his body whenever he wanted, and Way took advantage of it.

And you know who else did that? Charlie did. He did the exact same thing. Actually, I can even take the paragraph above and replace the words:

Charlie used the privilege Babe gave him (long term sexual contant never shared anyone else, cuddling in the bed and touching throughout the night, the kiss oh my god the kiss) to get close to him whenever he wanted, to put his hands on his body, and use his power on him (aborbe everything) to steer things in the direction he wanted (the grand plan, am I right? The one him and Jeff worked soooooo hard on). Each time Babe thought his sex buddy/lover was being affectionate, he was actually being abused in the worst way possible. Babe trusted him with the power to come close and touch his body whenever he wanted, and Charlie took advantage of it.

'But he did it to protect Babe'. That does not matter. Babe isn't a child. Charlie doesn't get to decide to protect him without asking his opinion. Babe is an adult. He can make his own choices. Moreover, his senses have been with him all his life. They shape his whole identity and who he is. Actually, given his fucked up childhood and how he was raised, given that his whole career and number 1 'identity' depend on them (because it wasn't just a number 1 spot, it was who he was. Pit babe always wins. Pit babe won't be pit babe if he loses.), Babe probably thought most of his worth comes from his senses. He said that once, that he's not sure he'd be worthy if he doesn't have his senses (and here the point isn't that he would be worthy, it's that HE thinka that)

And charlie just comes and? Decides to take them? Decides to take the whole identity of someone he 'loves' in order to 'protect' them without giving them a choice or even explanation?? That's fucked up. When I got to that point of the series, I legit thought this is a kind of r@pe, and worse than the sexual kind.

So the thing is, what he did was fucked up. It doesn't matter what his motivation was. I'm sure that Way too actually thought r@ping Babe and putting a baby inside him by force is the best way for both of them too. Which, obviously, bonkers, but my point is that your intentions don't cancel out the harm.

Everyone in this show treat Babe as some sort of object or kid that doesn't know what is good for him. No one gives him a choice while it's literally HIS life. They just come in and use him and his trust. They just manipulate him and lie to him, and no one considers how much that would HURT.

And you know what the real difference between Way and Charlie is? Obv. That charlie is 'selfless' and does everything for babe rather than the sake of his own desires/safety, but I assure you a writer can twist that. I can easily write the same situations and characters (up until chapter 8), and this time make charlie the red flag. In a case like this, the real difference is the way the narrative guides you and your emotions along, and the most important part in that is Babe himself. It's about who babe chooses to forgive. Who he decides to stay with despite the hurt. It's not about choosing between a saint and a red flag, but choosing between two people who have hurt you. And you choose the one who you love so much, you would keep hurting for.

And that's the beauty of it. Despite what this might come off as, I'm not a charlie hater. Not at all. I like him and babe together actually. I like Way too. And I love all of them because they are incredibly fucked up people trying to do what they think is right and I find the struggle interesting. My point is that, we are too fixated on finding a green flag and a red flag and choosing between them, when in situations like this, when all characters have been through hell, there will be no green flag. You can't rip a person apart and then bitch about them being red like blood can be any other color.

My point in making this wasn't to say charliebabe is abusive or toxic. It can be at points, but my point isn't that. What I'm trying to say is that you shouldn't fall into the trick of the narrative. You shouldn't decide a person is good and saint like just because their intentions were good or because they're the one the protegonist choses. You shouldn't ignore the hurt they do. The show moved sooooo fast from what was the biggest betrayal to me and I don't see anyone talking about it, simply because Babe decided to forgive and forget and the narrative pretended everything was perfect with a mama joke and a hug

Can it work? Sure! WinTeam (UWMA) had a total of 30 minutes screen time together in a 17 episode show. Roughly .4% of the show and arguably a perfect amount. Vegas and Pete worked well, and they were maybe a full hour if you include the torture/hostage situation — WHICH progressed the plot. Hell, UeaKing in Middleman’s Love was the perfect amount of established background relationship for a show not about them. Notice how I did not say anything about that other pair

Can it also be horrid… looking at you Prince… especially, when the side relationships don’t exist in the source material! Still looking at you Prince…

So, am I glad we are getting a little bit of JeffAlan? Sure, they’re cute — good chemistry.

Do we need five other pairs? No….no….in fact I think that would be a super bad decision with, what, 3 episodes left.

Taking advantage of the fact that there are only like 5 active members in the Heart Of Thomas fandom, I will say an opinion that I think will be too unpopular.

But if I'm honest, I really HATE Thomas, he's a fucking manipulative bitch who went so far as to commit suicide just because his crush just because his crush rejected him 🙄

He didn't even know his secret, he just threw a tantrum like a spoiled brat.

Rereading the manga was fucking difficult because it has to appear on every damn page to make its subliminal message.

Ohm/Fluke from Until We Meet Again and a bunch of other stuff.

Like, I'm so sorry but I didn't get the hype around UWMA tbh okay no I DID get the hype, like objectively I watched it, finished it, and could understand why people vibed with it so hard. I think for me there were a lot of factors that I won't go into here specifically for why it didn't work for me.

But a big factor was Ohm and Fluke lmao like, they had next to no chemistry for me, and Ohm is/was (I haven't seen him in anything super recent so maybe he's improved!) a pretty mid actor. Fluke was incredible, so even tho Pharm was a boring and flimsy character at least Fluke sold it well. Dean is a boring, and dull character and Ohm couldn't sell that, he didn't have enough on-screen presence to sell Dean as anything other than the Stoic Silent Tall Hot Dude.

Like, look y'all I'm in my 30s I've been watching media, producing media, and critiquing media as a gig for a decade plus. I've seen characters like Dean before and I find them really boring nowadays. They can work but Ohm just....didn't bring it. Pharm was such a ~shy maiden~ that it hurt their chemistry too. And out of curiosity I watched some of their mini-series that came after UWMA and I was still frustrated - b/c Fluke is such a good actor - and unimpressed.

I honestly think Ohm and Fluke are the source of why I dislike acting pairs so much. Cause like, Fluke and CooHeart? Oh man I'd pay to see them in a show together. CooHeart was amazing in UWMA and from what I know they're buddies irl too But I'd kill to see Fluke with an acting partner who could 1. match his talents and 2. bring out something new in him acting wise. I remember somebody saying they'd be interested in seeing Fluke act against Mew which I think could be interesting, another I would pick is Saint or Perth tbh maybe even Jeff.

So yeah, off the top of my head Ohm/Fluke and I know they're very beloved forgive me y'all

Bitch, I might be traumatized too bc I have no problem with the way Uea treats King 90% of the time. King constantly trying to brush hands with and make eye contact with Uea is annoying at this point. And I get a lot of those scenes are there to add tension but still.

King with all the grabbing, hugs from behind, wrapping his legs around Uea, I'd feel a bit smothered if someone was that affectionate with me. I like affection but not King's Labrador Retriever level of affection.
