So, I'm a writer, yeah?

When I write about somewhere that is real and set somewhere I don't live, I like to be very specific- I'll still make shit up, sure, as plot demands, but I like some accuracy in my shitty fanfiction!

For example- I was writing a TMA fic (I didn't finish it in time :p), and a character had to go to the ER- except, as a dumb American, I was like.... is it called the same thing??? (No, btw, it's called an A&E [accident and emergency] I think???), and then I chose a specific place and described the entrance, eg. 'The bold red letters reading [blank] contrasted sharply with the white building.' or whatever (that was a low effort chunklet, sry).

I go to the same* lengths for anything medical- that is to say, all the symptoms are possible for what I want them to be dealing with- fun fact, a concussion can cause a stutter. If you don't have serious brain damage, it should only last ~24 hrs after your injury, and if it lasts much longer, get yourself some speech therapy lol.

*I am an incompetent buffoon, and thus not a medical professional, but I do shove shit into Google and read through everything I can to at least attempt to be accurate- I can't have my poor little blorbos developing (temporary) speech impediments for no reason! It's gotta be because of that concussion they got after falling (and subsequently hitting their head on a brick wall) from pain and exhaustion from trying to run away with one (1) functional leg while heavily drunk (and traumatized!), going through opiate withdrawal, and losing an ass load of blood! My poor blorbos deserve BETTER!!

I had someone on my art blog ask about the soriku panels in my background collage! Never realized I hadn't posted it here. It was a redraw originally planned for an old soriku week prompt, but I never got to finish the full page!

The comic itself was for the soriku zine I in 2018 (the full thing can be read in my soriku mega pdf) and was a super great learning experience! I've always wanted to do a mini sequel.

Reminder that Will does not have any reason to RECOGNIZE Brenner. To our knowledge, he has never seen that man's face before. To him, that should just be the dead body of an old man on the ground.

They were perfectly fine to omit Jonathan's reaction because he didn't have connection to Brenner like Mike and El did. They could have just showed Mike and El's because of their interactions with him in season 1.

There is also this dramatic zoom in on Will that Mike has much less of and El doesn't have at all, of course because she isn't surprised he's alive or of his presence, but if we've established that it represents emotion (which it does), why is the biggest emotional reaction from WILL. And why does he look almost sad here? Why does he gasp a little bit?

Why is he the FIRST person they cut to for reaction?

WHY DOES HE HAVE ANY REACTION AT ALL. He should know as much from just this man's face as Jonathan. As much as Argyle

And yet he is our first, our most dramatic, making it seemingly our most important reaction shot.

Why was this even included in the first place. They had to set up the camera just to get this. That takes time. WHY. Why was that important enough to him.

i see a lot of critics complain about how we never got to know about catra’s origins or where cat people come from, and this is probably one of the few things i’m not that concerned about. unlike adora’s case, catra’s origins were never part of the plot. they never mention it, they never hint to a biological parent or a cat people species, i think the closest thing we get is that one silhouette of a cat person in an episode.

and this is okay. not every character’s origins need to be explored in detail, especially if it adds nothing to the story. as far as we can see, catra is not concerned at all about her origins. she doesn’t even seem to consider the idea of wanting to find her family or her people. she had other things to worry about like abusing her sister. i think it was fitting that she was just found in a box and adopted by shadow weaver.

adding unnecessary explanations and backstory for each character can make a story convoluted and long-winded. if catra’s origins aren’t an important part of her arc, then we don’t need to explore it. simple as that. besides, sometimes it’s a lot more fun to headcanon and theorize about stuff, rather than get an in-story explanation for every single plot beat.
