Quick sketch of these two characters.
Cassie Al-Amin
Age: ???
Gender: "Same as yours"
Disowned by their family. Spends his time helping those without anywhere to go. Proud of her "enormous flaming sword", will show it off given half an opportunity. Backpack hides xir wings. Its favorite season is fall.
Mia Sinano
Age: 31

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love ❤️
WAHH kayla i love you!! im gonna do it with some of my WIPS instead because i havent dug through my docs in a while
1. love, always, adrien
after disappearing for 5 years adrien comes back to find marinette -- but an ill-timed accident leaves him with retrograde amnesia and no memories of ever having left her.
memory loss, reunions, established relationship. 40.7k words in the doc, since 2021 😭😭
2. talking on a broken line
two weeks after a reveal and brand new romance , adrien is sent to london by his father to further his career. long distance angst multiplied by both of them being neurotic and the author herself being a very dramatic 18 year old at the time
officially i only have 2k written, but i have a literal beat by beat outline of the whole fic and all its scenes. would probably be a 20kish-word fic!
3. when things were good
set right after hawk moth's defeat, and incidentally right after ladynoir have a MESSY breakup. explores adrienette's civilian relationship along w their reflections on the mess they dragged each other into while they're both just trying to do better now
4. all the stars are fated
ladybug, a solo superhero chosen by master fu, has been going through a bevy of temporary black cats while more of her time is taken up by guardian training. and she's always been a lone ranger, and she knows she shouldn't have a partner, but she and that chat noir boy really do get along.
5. an unnamed mikayuu fic which literally has 20k words in the document and entire NOTEBOOK full of research about congestive heart failure
mika suffers from CHD and, with an unexpectedly shortened lease on his life, decides to spend the money he had saved for uni on taking what might be his last chance at a holiday on a cruise. his older sister-cum-doctor krul joins him, and what seems like a very bleak month of blood pressure tests and being emo by the ocean becomes much more positive once they run into yuu and the gang

got into Dimension 20 recently and i've been meaning to get into JRWI, what's a good way to start out?
Oo depends on whether you’re willing to spend money and what kinda genre you like!
Riptide is the main campaign and free on YouTube. It’s set in a world made mostly of ocean and is pirate themed, lots of mysteries and colourful NPCs! This is a D&D campaign with some amounts of homebrew. Has a short prequel that I recommend watching beforehand but not mandatory. DMed by GrizzlyPlays. Status: Ongoing
Prime Defenders is the first/main Patreon campaign and mostly paywalled on the 5$ patreon tier. Common consensus is that it starts off kinda awkward but gets better a few episodes in once everyone gets more in tune with their characters and the system. This is a superhero themed Mutants and Masterminds campaign with lots of themes of morality and mortality. Has a short prequel that I recommend watching beforehand but not mandatory. First 5 episodes are free on YouTube. DMed by Bizly. Status: Ongoing
Apotheosis is the second Patreon campaign, originally intended to be a mini-series while PD was on hiatus so shorter with only 14 episodes. Very much a fantasy D&D campaign with lower amounts of homebrew. A personal favourite with very interesting character dynamics and DM intros to each episodes that will knock your socks off. DMed by Condifiction. First episode available for free on YouTube. Status: Complete.
Blood in the Bayou is a 4 episode patreon mini campaign. A Horror Call of Cthulhu system campaign set in a small 1980s town in Louisiana. DMed by Slimecicle. First episode is free on YouTube. Status: Complete
Miscellaneous:
Mythborne: A one-shot that ran kinda long. Uses a highschool setting and the City of Mist TTRPG system. DMed by Slimecicle. Playlist. Status: Complete
Unnamed first campaign (commonly called The Fated or The Fated Five): The first ever campaign, which has since been unlisted due to a break with the old DM. Fairly typical D&D campaign. Warnings for: Rape, Homophobia, Misogyny and general unpleasentness from a variety of characters. I do not recommend starting on this one unless you’re really into this type of stuff. Unlisted YouTube playlist here. Status: Incomplete
Convergence: The second ever campaign, also unlisted and partially lost media. This was also a D&D campaign. I don’t have much to say about this one since I haven’t watched it, sorry. Unlisted YouTube playlist here. Status: Incomplete
Monster Control Service: A two-shot. Simply do not. Nope. Nuh-uh. There is no war in Ba Sing Se and there is no MCS. I do not remember what system it uses and I am not about to find out. Patreon exclusive. DMed by Bizly. Status: Complete
TLDR: Riptide is a very good starting point and free!

Probably unpopular opinion.... but I like the new Crow... but not everything.
There are certain things that could have been written better and or altered to give a better understanding of time and given more action. SPOILERS FOR ORIGINAL, TV SERIES AND REMAKE
They give no information how long Eric and Shelly are together before dying. All we know is they meet in rehab, fall completely and utterly in love with each other and then end up dead. In the original we see how they met in flashbacks, but in the present we can tell they've been together a long time from the clues. They're utterly in love and engaged, planning a wedding. They're looking after a girl who's mother is an absent drug addict. They're known and loved by people around them and they talk about how much they loved each other.
Shelly get's Eric killed, which is a bold way to play this version, adding to the how long have they known each other that they're this in love that they are still living in the area where Shelly is being looked for as a wanted woman and he doesn't know more about her. In the original movie they die for not selling their loft to the criminals who want to make money as well as doing evil things like burning down homes, businesses and so on, killing people, incest and more.
This one we got a guy selling innocent souls to the devil or something of the like, to not go to hell himself. It's in the same realm, but all we see him do with it is kill people and not really show what deal he made. My best guess it was to be super rich and have young good looking woman around him.
The original villains were brother and sister and did it for power and showed what they did to keep that power through out the movie. The sister had visions and was sadistic as her brother. Both sleeping together and with others before killing them.
The remake has many unnamed victims and henchmen that help keep the main villains actions secret. I couldn't name a single one of them if I tried. We just get to see Eric kill them all in interesting ways at the end in one big battle, but never as personal as the original. The original we see and get to know the main villain and the henchmen through out the movie and get to enjoy and watch as Eric hunts down every single one. Leaving them as calling cards to invoke fear for the next on the list and they don't know who that will be.
Another thing that fails is who are Shelly and Eric’s friends. I don’t remember anyone in the remake.
The original we have mainly Sarah, but she makes us feel in on what’s happening and puts stakes in to what’s going on.
She and the friendly cop are missing.
I missed the buddy cop so much in this remake. It seems they are trying to make one of Eric’s friends that, but it doesn’t really work that well. He’s there and gone.
With the original we had a cop fed up with the way the city is and wanting to stop it but doesn’t have the power. He’s not corrupted and he even cares when he sees what happened to Eric and Shelly. Trying to be there for Shelly in the end.
We don’t have that in the remake, and it really shows. We get less than 10 mins of Eric fighting the main villain at the end of the movie and it feels fast.
The original takes it’s time and we feel it. He’s weakened and he ends up needing help.
The reverse happens, we here he is week and then strong, but we do see the reasoning behind it is to set up for sequels.
Which I wouldn’t mind if it means we see more of him fighting like the last part of the movie.
In the end this all feels similar to how they set up The Crow Stairway to Heaven.
They leave it open for Eric to be a superhero for those in need. To see more crazy supernatural villains and the sort.
Even the part were they mention Shelly and Eric meeting again in another life and being soulmates.
That is heavily played on in the tv series to the point that there are episodes where Eric and Shelly were together in past lives. Though Eric has been a Crow as well as both met tragic ends in past lives as well.
They also introduced the idea of other animals bringing souls back and being their source of power to the returned person.
One villain pretending he is paralyzed and tormenting his wife while also doing other evil things when he can walk and his pet snake is his power.
I haven’t had the chance to read the novels/comics, but I can understand upset to those diehard to the material.
But for myself I don’t mind the changes to a great degree. Only a few things like the relationship building taking up much of the run time and not knowing the amount of time together bugs me the most.
If they had cut that down, played it as she’s been on the run for years and in another city and they had to go back for a reason, I’d have bought that more.
The ending as well is confusing, but supposedly it’s universe resetting as balance returns sort of thing.
Bill is amazing as Eric and I could watch him for hours.
I’m not really a fan of the actress chosen for Shelly, but whatever.
This makes two clowns I’d watch Bill play every chance I’d get. Gots me excited for his IT return.
Make the sequel better in the end and I’d watch it.

I've been thinking about that OnK/Parahumans crossover idea more.
We still know frustratingly little about how Ai's relationship with Hikaru went; we can make some guesses, but nothing concrete. So I thought about the two things that don't depend on Hikaru at all: The timeline and Ai's power.
As mentioned last time, I decided that my ideas for Ai's power centered around Leviathan, who destroyed Kyushu in 1999. I was thinking of having Ai be one of the inaugural Wards, but the Wards definitely existed by 1998, and probably existed by the late 80's/early 90's, so that's...well, I guess I could just ignore some part of the timeline. But I'd rather just make Ai's debut its own big event, wherever she ends up.
OnK's timeline is vague, but if we speedrun through Ai's romance, maybe Ruby and Aqua could be born in 2000 or 2001. Presumably, Ai would get murdered some time in the mid-oughts. More importantly, it means the twins would be tweens when the world ends, so unless I decide to focus on Ai (definitely a possibility), this would be a post-GM fic.
Ai's Trigger Event & Powers
Last time, the power I settled on was "something with power-copying fairy things". And I don't really like that. It's vague, it's complicated, and most importantly, it doesn't have either an "This kid could be the next Eidolon!" vibe or a "This kid could be dangerous!" vibe.
So let's work backwards. What power am I looking for?
I'm thinking, something that takes powers, but can give them back too. Ai takes, say, 8% of your power, and in a week's time she gives you back 10%, keeping 2% for herself. Or some other set of numbers, or some other pattern. She slowly gets stronger over time, she can make other heroes stronger, but she could also just weaken all the heroes around her and run.
As per the Trump document, the kind of Trump trigger that gives power-borrowing powers focuses on the mental/emotional relationship the parahuman has to powers. So while the aftermath of Leviathan's attack is still there, still influences her trigger, it's not the focus.
Let's say that Ayumi (Ai's mom) and/or her unnamed boyfriend worked for the Sentai Elite or some other hero team. Little Ai hence got to see more superheroes than most people, and became familiar with one hero in specific. Let's call her Blue Kōri (following Black Kaze's naming scheme even though we don't know whether she's an ex-Sentai or not, but c'mon, that's a Super Sentai name).
Anyways, Ayumi gets stranded somewhere with her daughter and boyfriend due to Leviathan's floodwaters. She spots Blue Kōri coming by, making a bridge of ice across the waters, and quickly sends Ai into their improvised shelter to get stuff. While she's out of sight, Ayumi and her boyfriend leave with Kōri, without Ai.
Ai feels a sense of betrayal and abandonment, mostly from her mom but also the other two adults, at least one of whom should have known better. As with her canon counterpart, Ai feels certain that the things done to her were done because she's unlovable. So she triggers, grabbing a fragment of Blue Kōri's power without realizing what she's done. (And without Kōri noticing, because she's distracted by a swell or something.)
Post-Trigger
Ai ends up with the power to take a fragment of other parahumans' powers, which manifest in the form of little glowing things that Ai calls fairies. The fragments grow slowly on their own, eventually splitting. (Conflicted about whether they should just grow or whether they should mutate slightly when they split. Does Ai have remarkable power, or remarkable versatility? Doesn't really matter at this point in planning, though.)
Eventually, Ai figures out that she has a little bit of ice power. Once she figures out how to use it, she tries to escape on a teeny ice raft with the supplies Ayumi told her to fetch. Ai eventually washes up in a populated area, and gets noticed by Ichigo or an equivalent. She gets inducted into a hero team (foreign if we want to use recognizable canon characters, local if we don't), and settles into the "ideal superhero" role by a combination of external Concern about an unfettered power-thief and internal fears of being hated or abandoned or unworthy of love.
And I'm not sure how much more I can write without a bit more data on Hikaru.

so almost a year ago now I had a dream about a strange boy who defended himself against his shitty parents and lived a life on the run from his troubled past. now I'm happy to finally reveal him as my very first OC F/O! as well as my "S/I" (in quotations because is it really an S/I if it's your own story? I mean I guess??) to go with him lol. my F/O's name is tBuNHaGrÍÍ- a cruel name given by his parents which means "he of bones", referring to how bony he was at birth- but most people just call him Hagri, and my insert is named Lux. their story is a story of change, of second chances, of putting morals above the law and of rising above the struggles thrust upon you from birth set in a world that's surreal and, well, dreamlike. XD hopefully I'll be able to post more of them soon but the story is still very much a work in progress with a lot more to flesh out lmao.
under the cut is a brief summary of the dream and the associated story as told to a friend on discord lol. this was like the morning I woke up from the dream so Hagri at that point was unnamed and Lux is "me"- now this does contain dark elements like including death, mutilation, and poor treatment of children, so please proceed with caution if any of this bothers you!
not everything that was in the dream will remain the same of course- instead of Hagri just magically growing hands I gave him prosthetics, and idk what I'm gonna do with the superhero bit because it kinda doesn't fit with the rest of the vibe I'm going for LOL- but hopefully one day I'll be able to turn this into comics or a graphic novel. and yes, it's normal for my dreams to this detailed and batshit LMFAO
#and now I can officially add Hagri to the F/O list LOL#my art#my characters#original character#original story#ocs#self ship#self shipping#selfshipping community#oc f/o#self insert oc#dreams#f/o: Hagri

World Building Projects:
The OC Project: This one is where any original character I've created exist. Idk what else to call it other than a "superhero", "comic book" type world building project. Many, if not all, of my OC's that exist here fit somewhere inside that comic genre. Meaning, they're all mostly, superheros, anti-heroes, villains, etc.
The Public Domain Project: With this one, I plan on creating an interconnected world using superheros/villains/etc. that exist entirely within the public domain. There are tons of comic book characters which exist within the public domain and I thought it'd be fun to somehow build out a proper world for some of them to live within.
The Beetle Project: Something like 1 in 4 species on Earth are type of beetle. So what if beetles were the dominant, sentient species instead of humans? That's kind of just it for this one lmao. Not much else. Just sort of a speculative evolution type of thing.
The Hycean Planet Project: A hycean planet is a planet which is mostly covered with water, blanketed by a hydrogen-rich atmosphere.
Medieval Post Apocalypse: Basically just what the title is; a medieval setting wherein some kind of apocalypse happened. The main story I'm focusing on here is a cartographer traveling around, trying to reconnect surviving settlements and undercover what caused the collapse of society.
Novels & Books:
Unnamed Book #1: As of [current date], this book is without a name. But the basic plot is this: Humanity discovers a very Earth-like planet which is habitable. So humanity builds a ship to transport a colony there. The people on the ship were cryogenically frozen to survive the journey (other supplies were included on the ship). But during the ships travel, Humanity back on Earth discovered FTL travel. During the original ship's few-hundred year long journey, Humanity was able to build up a sizable, permanent colony on the other planet. More info about this will be shared whenever I make in-depth posts about it. I don't wanna spoil too much here lol.
Unnamed Book #2: This book is about a scientist who grows a full, working brain in a laboratory and connects it to the internet. I don't have much else developed with this specific story.

William Hurt's Stunt Double Saved Charlie Cox From Drowning On The Set Of Moby Dick
By Witney Seibold Dec.12, 2022 (X)
In Herman Melville's original 1851 novel "Moby-Dick," not much was known about the vengeful Capt. Ahab beyond his obsession with finding the story's titular whale. In Mike Barker's 2011 miniseries, Ahab (William Hurt) interacts with his on-screen wife Elizabeth (Gillian Anderson). Ethan Hawke plays Starbuck, Raoul Trujillo plays Queequeg, and Charlie Cox plays the stalwart narrator Ishmael. Cox has recently been getting a great deal of attention from Marvel fans for his performance as the superhero Daredevil in his own show, and for guest spots on "She Hulk: Attorney at Law" and in "Spider-Man: No Way Home." This author first noticed Cox for his performance as Lorenzo in Michael Radford's 2004 adaptation of "The Merchant of Venice." His appearance in "Moby Dick" would immediately be followed by 23 episode of the hit show "Boardwalk Empire," putting the actor on the map.
Filming on "Moby Dick" took place in Malta in 2009. As its story demands, the miniseries features many scenes at sea. There are many moments when multiple characters are gathered in small rowboats. Then — again, as the story demands — many characters are thrown out of said rowboats and into the ocean. In the December 2022 issue of Total Film Magazine, Cox was interviewed about his worst on-screen experience, and he revealed that filming "Moby Dick" included a moment that might have killed him. Those cursed rowboats, it seems, almost offered Cox the same fate as many members of the Pequod.
Luckily, William Hurt's unnamed stunt double — unnamed, but most likely uncredited industry veteran Tomas Ereminas — was there to rescue Cox.
Thwarting death
Charlie Cox was lucky when the day came to shoot the rowboat scene. William Hurt, it seems, did not want to get into the rowboat with his co-stars. Cox cited Hurt's age at the reason for refusing — Hurt was 61 at the time — although it could be just as likely that the star sensed danger that day. Or he simply wasn't in the mood. Regardless, one of Hurt's stunt doubles stepped in. When asked what his worst day of shooting was, Cox recalled:
"I had a stunt go wrong on the TV show 'Moby Dick.' Nobody's fault. I was meant to be on the rowboat with William Hurt but he had said he didn't want to do it. In his place was a stunt double. Anyway, we got pulled, the boat flipped, and my leg was stuck underneath one of the benches. This stunt guy got me out. With all due respect to the late, great Bill Hurt, being the age he was and not being a stuntman, I don't think he would have thought to do that. So this stunt guy potentially saved my life."
The benches Cox referred to are called, in nautical lingo, thwarts. They are ordinarily removable, but in this case, seemed to be locked firm.
The 2011 "Moby Dick" miniseries aired on August 1 and 2 of that same year, and was met with positive reviews, despite its notable changes to the novel's story. Herman Melville's novel, incidentally, has been adapted to film and TV multiple times since its first cinematic iteration in 1926. The 2011 version was the most recent direct filmed adaptation, but both the 2014 miniseries "The Whale" and Ron Howard's 2015 film "In the Heart of the Sea" adapted real-life events that served as inspiration for "Moby-Dick."
~*~
#ACK!! A huge thank you to the stunt man who rescued Charlie!! 😰#charlie cox#ishmael#moby dick 2011#interview#article

DC STUDIOS ANNOUNCEMENT
James Gunn and Peter Safran, the heads of the new DC Studios, finally announced a small part of their 10-12 year plan for the new DC cinematic universe.
Like the MCU goes in Phases, the DC films will be presented in Chapters. Chapter One is entitled Gods and Monsters, and includes the following films:
Superman: Legacy - yet another reboot of Superman, scheduled for July 11, 2025.
The Authority - the Windstorm characters getting introduced in =to the mainstream DC Universe. I think this is a huge mistake, both in films and in the comics. The Wildstorm characters work best on their own world, especially as many of them are analogues of already existing DC characters. And at this point and time, grim and gritty has been done to death.
The Brave and the Bold - Batman (Bruce) and Robin (Damian), supposedly inspired by Grant Morrison’s stories (although Dick Grayson was the original Batman Damian worked with).
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow - a science fiction adventure based on the recent Tom King=written limited series. While I admire the story King was trying to tell, it wasn’t really my cup of tea. And he has earned my eternal wrath for what he did to Krypto!
Swamp Thing - a film about Swamp Thing (natch!).
The Batman: Part Two - the continuation of Matt Reeves’ noir Batman, set in its own universe. Scheduled for October 2025.
Then there are television series:
Creature Commandoes - an animated series Gun wrote featuring Amanda Waller putting together a black ops team consisting of monsters. This is probably the mysterious unnamed series Gunn stated a few weeks ago that he was working on.
Waller - a series starring Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, and featuring the Peacemaker crew. Not wild about this as I have always found Waller to be a detestable character, and certainly not one that should be leading a series. This also probably means we’re not getting a real second season to Peacemaker, which is a shame.
Booster Gold - Booster being Booster: trying to pass himself off as a great superhero using his future tech.
Lanterns - a series described as “True Detective with space cops,” this is what is replacing the previously announced Green Lantern series at HBO Max. This series features Hal Jordan and John Stewart.
Paradise Lost - a series set on Themyscira (Paradise Island) focusing on the intrigues and politics on a island of just women. So, a Wonder Woman series without Wonder Woman. I absolutely hate these type of series. I would rather have another Wonder Woman film with Gal Gadot, thank you.
According to Gunn, this list is not all inclusive of everything coming in Chapter One.
Before any of this happens, there are still the upcoming films Shazam! Fury of the Gods, The Flash, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, and Blue Beetle.
Gunn stated that events in The Flash “resets the entire DC Universe” (I guess it’s a version of Flashpoint), and that Aquaman “leads directly” into Chapter One.
I’m not real excited by what I see so far, although The Brave and the Bold could be fun if done right. And I’m downright not looking forward to a couple of these (The Authority, Waller). I’m going to go into “wait and see mode” and hope for the best.
That is if my ancient, dilapidated carcass manages to live long enough to see any of these come to pass.

Things Get Better?: LGBTQ Representation in Animation in 2022 [Part 4]
Continued from part 3
youtube
While some shows with LGBTQ characters, have ended (Kid Cosmic and Amphibia), were cancelled (Q-Force), or won't be renewed (Dead End, gen:LOCK, and High Guardian Spice), indie animation has continued to shine. Some argued that people shouldn't look to Disney for queer representation in animation, that there may be a decline of superhero shows where many queer characters are, and noted a limited number of out TV stars out there. Although by midway through the year LGBTQ representation looked grim, due to what I've mentioned earlier, indie animations made clear that queerness is normal, just as it should be in real life.
Reprinted from Pop Culture Maniacs and Wayback Machine. This was the nineteenth article I wrote for Pop Culture Maniacs. This post was originally published on January 16, 2023.
None of these indie animations would even be recognized by GLAAD, which recently promoted the animated series Chicago Party Aunt, and animated films, [5] and with their nominees for the GLAAD Media Award, blogposts, and annual reports, nor by queer feminist magazines like Autostraddle, a queer feminist magazine. Instead, they have been recognized by fans and supporters. This includes those such as Helluva Boss, Ollie & Scoops, Eddsworld, a new season of Hazbin Hotel in development, along with others in development like The Descendants, Wild Card, Far Fetched, and Indigo, to name a few.
In the year ahead, there are bound to be more LGBTQ series, with the premiere of the yuri series The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady in January, the second season of D4DJ in January, the new series Yuri Is My Job! in April, and the new season of Birdie Wing, also in April. Another yuri series, I'm in Love with the Villainess is also set to air this year, while the sci-fi yuri manga, Hoshikuzu Telepath, is in development. This is coupled with continued release of yuri manga, visual novels, and the planned release of Love Live! anime spinoffs Nijiyon Animation and Genjitsu no Yohane: Sunshine in the Mirror. Both will likely have yuri subtext in line with other Love Live! anime series, which only have women as characters. There are indications that anime adaptations of Hikikomari Kyuuketsuki no Monmon aka The Vexations of a Shut-In Vampire Princess, Whisper Me A Love Song, Young Ladies Don't Play Fighting Games, and Vampeerz may be premiering this year.
Despite these positives, I worry that LGBTQ representation in animation, this year, may wane, in line with declining representation in film. For Western animation, what shows can fill the void left by The Owl House, Amphibia, Kid Cosmic, Dead End, gen:LOCK, High Guardian Spice, or even Q-Force? Its hard to know if existing series can fill that gap. In anime, there is more possibilities, due to the aforementioned yuri series, and any possible yaoi (boy's love) series.
However, there is some hope for representation in Western animation. The next season of The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder is coming in February, along with Ark: The Animated Series which features a lesbian protagonist, the animated series Princess Power and Velma in January, and the Nimona animated film in the summer. New seasons of Witch from Mercury, Arcane, Star Trek: Lower Decks, The Great North, Invincible, The Ghost and Molly McGee, and Disenchantment may premiere. The pilot episode of S.A.L.E.M.: The Secret Archive of Legends, Enchantments, and Monsters or the film which precedes the Lumberjanes series might air.
There might be new information about an animated series set after The Legend of Korra, which had two bisexual protagonists (Asami and Korra), which will focus on an unnamed earthbender, a film centered around Korra said to be released in 2026. There might be LGBTQ characters in Kiff, Hailey's On It!, and Iwájú, which are scheduled to begin airing this year, or those in future series such as Primos, Moana, Tiana, and Iyanu: Child of Wonder.
Animation may continue to be in a bit of a rough patch and more may flock to indie animation in hopes of finding an alternative to the studio system. That is what can be easily predicted for this year.

[5] Strange World featured a gay couple: Ethan Clade and Diazo. In 2022, there were been bisexual and lesbian characters in Catwoman (specifically Catwoman and Batwoman), queer characters in Turning Red (Priya Mangal), a lesbian woman in Lightyear (Alisha Hawthorne), along with lesbian women in DC League of Super-Pets (Nancy), and Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo! (Velma Dinkley and Coco Diablo).

Hello, darling! Aw, this is such a sweet endeavor. We'll just ignore that it's taken me so long to respond. 🤣
Let's start from the top, shall we?
The Animatronic Saga
Maybelle Clark, Gwenevieve Hampshire, Edward Sundune, Emerson Haryl, Jade, and Javon Midori have one thing in common and one thing only: they're now on the run from Insignia, a corporation that wants them and wants to use them.
A 5-book series, The Animatronic Saga is really about the relationships between my characters and what situations and experiences will do to change people.
Secondary Series
Set 7 years after The Animatronic Saga comes to a close, my unnamed secondary series follows the same characters, but at a very different time in their lives.
Can't say much obviously, but this project has been really fun for character development and for engaging with more adult material and challenges.
Queer Superhero Story
Camille knows three things:
1) Five years ago, she woke up with no memories and the ability to heal people at her own expense.
2) She will do whatever she can to help all the people she can.
3) She's dreamed about the same girl ever since she can remember. And that same girl just appeared in her life.
A rewrite of my very first novel ever, my queer superhero story follows Camille as she realizes the life she's living isn't her first; five years ago, she was someone else entirely: The Orchid. A superhero. A hero with a magical ability that didn't hurt. A girl with a best friend, Roldan, and a girlfriend, Nia. And an Extraordinaire with enemies who've been waiting on her return.
StormWatcher
Ever since Kib Gree can remember, she's wanted what they have. The StormWatchers and their freedom. Trapped inside the isolated world of the everyday citizen after terrible weather ravages the planet, Kib yearns to escape it all and become the very thing her Mam and sister, Merieh, hate: the people supposedly protecting everyone, the StormWatchers who now run the world.
This story was born from my fear of bad weather, but it's grown into my back-burner piece about the choices we make. Especially the choices that decide between our homes and the people we care about and the life we think we want.
There we go! I work on other stories for sure, but those three are always bouncing around in my mind. Thanks for the wonderful inquiry! ♥️

how does ur new speedster fit into the expanded worldbuilding you described in your posts with superheroes being corporate? what about heroes who reject capitalism? do any exist?
vigilantism is a lot more prevalent than the corporations would like you to believe, while also being a big selling point FOR the hero corps. Do you really want some shitty rando throwing your car at the villain of the week or do you want our name brand hand selected heroes throwing your car with our insurance that TOTALLY actually wants to help pay you back and isn't just a fucking mess of red tape. Look!!! this horrible savage vigilante PUNCHED your favourite hero!!! doesn't that make you mad???!!
There is no big organized group of vigilantes, mostly just people who want to do good and help people forgotten by the system. Vigilantes in this setting are the kind of heros hanging around dark alleys at night making sure that wasted chick being followed from the bar makes it home safe and doing mutual aid type stuff while name brand Heroes are getting into huge fights with recognizable villains that wipe out half of down town and helping natural disaster relief.
My as of yet unnamed speedster wanted to be a hero growing up, but failed the school entrance exam for poor physical health. Turns out super speed doesn't stop you from having bad legs and asthma that fuck over regular speed exercise lol. Nowadays he wouldn't consider himself a vigilante, since it sort of implies a meaningfulness of action that he doesn't have, but he does his best to help out if he notices a situation where super speed could be helpful- like someone stumbling into traffic. He's much more aware of the shitty practices of the hero corps now too, especially with how they've been pushing for a registry of all supers to "stop a non exsistant wave of superpower based crime"
oh also bonus! Labrat works for the biggest international hero corp researching the genetics of how powers work, which is an incredibly unknown field. She has her own goals however, and is only working there for access to a large amount of skilled supers

Misc Marvel Fic Recs (Part 5)
Say you don’t know me (or recognize my face) by showmeahero
Daredevil is kind of dark and broody. He doesn't want anyone to know his real name, he never smiles, and he has kind of a loner attitude.
Matt Murdock, on the other hand, is completely unrecognizable to Jessica the first time she really sees him.

I’ll build a house inside of you by magdaliny
Natalia is stacking blocks very carefully when the adults come into the room. None of them look at her, because they're all looking at her father. He's wearing combat gear, and the hair on the left side of his head is slicked back with blood. He smells like smoke and something unnameable, sweet and dark and a little sickly in her nose.
Father is saying, “Don't be ridiculous. The only thing children are good at is disobeying.”

Night nurse by whichry9
Danny's the one who sets up and funds the clinic, but Claire's the one who's there night in and night out, patching up those stupid superheroes.
-
Coming Home by longforgottenhymn
Fury doesn't missuse the pager - not in his own opinion. Though, he has to admit, sometimes he and Carol have different views on what counts as an emergency.
And then there's the times they agree.

Exclamation, Question, Statement, Command by shipNslash
As a child, Foggy Nelson is diagnosed with a rare, terminal brain disease. Thankfully, a team of scientists is working on an experimental treatment. Foggy bonds with another boy in the trial, Kevin Thompson, whose parents are both doctors. This sets Foggy and Kevin's lives on a path that neither of them would have ever imagined….
Two decades later, Nelson Fogwell, his friend Marci Stahl, and his fiance Matt Murdock are running a “thriving” law office when a Miss Jessica Jones knocks on their door. She's out to stop a man going by the name of Kilgrave and she's looking for his childhood companion that she thinks might be able to help.
A mind-control!Foggy AU with generous helpings of fluff and angst.

the identity crisis of one nicholas j fury by sevenfoxes
“… And you should really get your cat spayed,” Earl says smugly, staring at Goose who is resting a few feet away, licking her paw.
Shit.
Goose eats Earl. Nick files an incident report and takes Goose to the lab to wait for her to barf up Earl because Nick is tired of replacing the accent rug in his office. Finance has gotten really stingy with the office budget lately, and Goose’s cat-flerken vomit reeks.
HR assigns Goose her own incident code and installs a BEWARE OF CAT sign on Nick's office door under his nameplate. Earl stops offering unsolicited advice, and Nick buys Goose one of the new expensive horizontal scratching posts that looks like a wave.
Goose looks way too pleased with herself.
--
All the things Goose has eaten and the all the things people have called Nicholas J. Fury, with or without his consent.

Everyday Superhero by stoneage_woman
When a field trip to Stark Industries ends in disaster, Roger Harrington finds himself faced with an impossible choice. Suddenly, Tony Stark is shoving an NDA in his face while Peter Parker stares at him with terrified, desperate eyes. Nothing in his 13-year teaching career could have prepared Harrington for this, but he knows one thing for sure: ten years ago, he'd stared down into the sightless eyes of a seventeen-year-old girl, and he'd sworn to himself that he would never again lose another student. He's going to do everything in his power to keep that promise now…even if it costs him everything.
Set during and post Spider-Man Homecoming. A realistic field trip story that also explores the long-term consequences of trauma and responsibility, written by a real-life teacher.

this one goes out to all the children of the stars by GrimRevolution
Sometimes it takes space to teach the lessons we all need: that light continues endlessly even after its source is gone, that each breath is a measure of the infinite, and that, in all the miracles of the universe, matter came together to create you.

3, 11, 14 for Mondo Vuoto ^_^
from this ask game
for context, mondo vuoto is a category on my toyhouse in which are categorized a bunch of my ocs, including sub-categories, and generally it is a contemporary-modern setting that is timeline wise encapsulated from the late 1800's to recent times. it's a very "what if certain supernatural events were caused by radiation and aliens, actually" sort of thing.
3.) any recurring images/elements?
surprisingly enough the theme of not being in control of your body, and feeling like/literally having another being "possess" you and "be part of you" from the inside keeps popping up. the lack of self-confidence and being unable to trust oneself. or the opposite on the same spectrum, being so confident in oneself and their abilities that it ultimately morphs into a hubris that will in turn cause a catastrophe and loss of self. there's middle grounds, but these seem to be recurring themes in my characters in this world.
also by accident somewhat a lot of alien-y kind of space supernatural facts, as well as VERY pseudoscientific, comic-inspired lore where "aliens have caused a lot of shit but the aliens aren't like grey aliens they're like rocks and liquids that are sentient".
I unfortunately am a fan of superhero comics, but what I love about them is the utter confidence in which some lore is written to be fun and not always to Make Sense, even if sometimes it does, just enough to give it some depth.
11.) give a general summary of the plot/world/characters.
mondo vuoto itself isn't a story but rather an encompassing worldbuilding situation, though there are some stories set in it (such as the infamous salice story, vermiculous (jenica's) and so on)
im not sure which story to pick but if youre curious to hear more in detail you can ask me about it in another ask! there's a few of them
assassin union (not a story, a group of characters)
kitschionage (specific story set in the early 70s)
vermiculous (jenica's story, set in early-mid 2000s?)
necrologio (salice's story, set in circa 1995)
a 20th century tale (story i need to revamp set in the 80s)
the angels' blessing (set in the late 1800s)
and there's an unnamed project so far where i remake a bunch of 19th century horror novel protagonists into lesbians who are NASCAR racers, one of which is Eden, but he will have at least 2-3 more "friends" to hang out with once i figure shit out
14.) whats your favorite part of this story/project?
i can kind of do whatever i want with it... and it can be comicky and a bit lame and funny... i try not to overdo it of course... but i like throwing in here some supernatural tropes and trying to remake them to make it all make sense in my mind's eye
the lore for demons, angels and witches is very fun so far from what i imagined, even though it is basically 90% in my head
