Night Vale Presents is a podcast network known for the popular podcast Welcome to Night Vale, as well as some significantly less popular, but still good, podcasts such as The Orbiting Human Circus of the Air, Alice Isn’t Dead, Within the Wires, Dreamboy, and Unlicensed. This blog will — with enough interest — run a Big (or Reverse) Bang for either all of these podcasts at once, or separate them into multiple fandoms — what we choose depends on the results of the interest checks.
Inspired by @pilesofnonsense’s Rusty Quill Big Bang.

I decided to listen to Unlicensed (the new Night Vale podcast on audible) and god. GOD. It was so good I dearly wish for more, more of that podcast or more like that podcast (have already listened to Alice and eagerly look forward to weekly wtw and bimonthly wtnv). I just loved how all the stories mingled together and how fun the characters were and of course the familiar voices. Genuine sadness when I finished it. Highly recommend! It’s like the Strike books only not written by a horrendous person. Also the mcs are both women. I believe they’ve released the first three episodes on their wtnv feed. I was going to just do one episode at a time but it was too good for that. The Night Vale team have done it again!

bless u for answering my silly ask—and thank you for such a memorable journey alongside faulkner and carpenter ❤️
so i know that the silt verses is approaching its series finale, and i have (allegedly) made peace* with this inevitability. however.
.....is there any chance you guys could be bribed into.... not.... ending the show.... 👀 like i'm not trying to say my mother-in-law makes THE best lemon squares and butter tarts in all of ontario, but i'm also not NOT saying that.
the best confectionary goodness you've ever tasted in exchange for more silt verses, what do u say
*i may still be in the bargaining stage of grief, actually
(also all of this is a joke!! hahaha! unless 👀)
Hahaha, your mother-in-law sounds awesome, and her sweet treats sound delicious!
I know this is a joke (unless 👀), but to answer it sincerely: like most kids, I used to love building Lego. Great towering mangled constructions. And you always got to a point where it was almost finished, probably finished - but the temptation persisted to keep building. Perhaps one detail more? One extra addition, make it taller, make it bigger? And then you'd try and jam another brick on and the whole thing would fall off-balance or collapse into pieces.
And then you had a reckoning with yourself; you'd spoiled your own work because you didn't know how to stop.
When it comes to the world and story of TSV, I of course feel the temptation to keep jamming on more bricks, but I also know what we'd be risking.
Whether it's mainstream TV shows or indie audiodramas, I think there are very few multi-season serials that are universally agreed to stick the landing of their final season; almost every single longform show is popularly considered to have some dropoff in quality or some kind of disappointment in how it handles its ending (even The Wire, Breaking Bad, The Sopranos).
Contrarily, there are a great many shows that are universally accepted to have persevered on long after they should have ended, or to have taken a total dive into a hole they couldn't get back out of.
That's just the nature of longform storytelling - it's ludicrously hard to wrap up in a satisfying way, it's much too easy to keep adding more bricks instead.
We're not done yet, of course, and no matter what I'm sure there are people who will come away feeling that this season was a disappointing ending to the series because it didn't do X or it did Y (and some of that will be totally justified, some of that will be subjective, and some of that is again just the inevitable cost of trying to end a long and complicated story).
But I'm really, really grateful and relieved that we've had some very kind and enthusiastic feedback on S3 so far, and I feel incredibly proud of us and our cast for some of this season's episodes and performances which I think do arguably count amongst our best work.
That feels like a very rare and a very fortunate place to get to end things on, and I wouldn't ever want to risk spoiling that by continuing to over-extend ourselves.
(And equally, I'm just excited to have the chance to make something else next!)
#the silt verses#i know i have horror fiction podcast enjoyers among my followers#if you enjoy audiodrama and would like to listen to a show that marries together the grotesque and the divine#but like. the marriage takes place in k-mart’s corporate HQ#complete with licensed (AND unlicensed) human sacrifice#have i got a podcast recommendation for you 😏

I'm reblogging this shit again because once again "Isagi and his Football Theories of Personality" has became relevant once again.
Since we're still waiting for the official translation, we're going into the rough translation of what Isagi's mind was theorizing about these "ego types" and how it will become useful in this match and how he will utilized it.
If you've noticed Isagi has categorized the "world ego" and self ego" types into four categories: free and worldly, not free and worldly, free and self style and lastly inconvenient and self centered. Take notice on which players he had categorized them into.
Now how does it relate to the present chapter and present conflict and ongoing character developments of some of the characters?
Noticed on how Charles didn't mesh easily with Rin?
Of how Kaiser and Ness had a fallout now?
If we're going to gamble and go straight ahead with Isagi's unlicensed psychology degree and theory, it's because they have different ego types and also they're categorized into different categories.
Noticed on how Kaiser emphasized to Ness that he doesn't want that "freedom" that Ness has been giving him into but rather he thrives on "restraint." It's related on how he was categorized as a "world ego" type such as with Hiori and Isagi but under the category of "not free and worldly" type which clashes with Ness' beliefs and playstyle in soccer. Kaiser is presented as a strategic and opportunistic player in the field. His mind is assessing on the best possible way to score even if he needs to overthrow the previous knowledge he has gain on that matter. His recent playstyle is a testament to this. If we're going by objective means, his evolved playstyle and on field partnership with Ness is no longer working so his mind has deleted that primary strategy to replace a new one to adapt to these changes.
It can be the same one with Charles. His meshing perfectly with Shidou because they have the same mindset, playstyle and ego types.
With these added details and information inside the MC's head you can fairly assume on how he would use this idea in the ongoing match.
Now, I'm fairly intrigue on why Isagi hasn't categorized yet these players in his mind: Rin, Kiyora and Ness.
When the hints have been a dead giveaway.
Is the author trying to cool up another twist to this match?
We can also hope so and look forward to it.
Isagi and his Football Theories of Personality
I knew at some point in this manga we will have an intervention of personality types attached to players based on how they play lol.
Sometimes I really think that the author himself has read numerous books about psychology such as Theories of Personality by Feist. How did I have a random thought like this? Just looked at Isagi's inner monologue about World Type Ego and Self-Type Ego.
That is the closest thing you can compare it to the MBTI of people.
At first it's amusing to read to have Isagi categorized the players according to what motivates them to play soccer. But it's also creative because the author is injecting another angle and subject other than playstyle and strategies out there in the field.
An explanation of World Type Ego vs. Self Ego Type is also helping the reader to get a glimpse of the character's motivation and reasons for playing that sport.
In this chapter, it is revealed that Kaiser has a World Type Ego just like with Isagi since in the previous chapters he couldn't ascertain which type he is alongside with Rin, Ness and the others. To get a gist of it, a World Type Ego is motivated by the external factors of their surroundings or environment such as prestige, fame, money and other tangible elements that can be calculated and explained in a pragmatic sense. From the start, reputation is an important thing to Kaiser. He doesn't hesitate to immediately assert his top and special position in BM when the Blue Lock players such as Isagi and the others joined their team in NEL. In the recent chapter, Kaiser had shown to abandon everything and go back to "zero" because his playstyle with Ness doesn't work anymore. His position and offer bid is being now threatened by Isagi's presence and skills so now he decided to do what is best even if he doesn't do it usually: teamwork with the other Blue Lock players such as with Raichi and now with Kunigami (or as the orange haired guy as he aptly calls him lol).
Well, in this part you can actually ask then what the hell is all of this and how does it connect with everything?
It's connected because this can also explain why his partnership with Ness is now in shambles and getting worse in each new chapter. Clearly Ness and Kiyora's type is not revealed yet. But well, as a reader we can prolly surmise what Ness and Kiyora is which brings me to the other type of ego according to Isagi: Self Type Ego.
According to what is being explained in the franchise, their motivation is determined by internal or intrinsic factors such as their beliefs, morally right or wrong actions and other personal factors that are important to them rather than the external and pragmatic factors. From the moment we were shown of Ness' character, his interpretation of events and surroundings around him is according to his personal values and beliefs. He makes decisions based on what he feels at that moment and that's a clashing thing to his family who greatly values logic and sound reasoning above everything else.
He decides to follow Kaiser because he sees a potential in him that no one else has and showed him the "miracle" of soccer. His interpretation of his character is independent from the other people's remarks about him being a diva and an asshole. His personal belief about Kaiser is so great as the statue of Liberty that it extended to great lengths of serving him until the end.
Which is quite ironic because in reality they really don't understand each other and their judgment of each other is distorted. For all Kaiser yapping that he molded Ness into being his servant and such, he doesn't really understand him in the end which explains his bafflement in the last chapter of the manga when Ness still declared his loyalty to him despite discarding him out there in the field. One can be the said to the other as well because his reassurance to Kaiser is the last thing that Kaiser wants to hear or see from him and fails to see the bigger picture which is now they're in this mess in the field because they're motivations are clashing: World Type Ego vs. Self Type Ego.
I remember someone asking me, but what about Reo? He's the same with Ness right?
Not really.
Isagi has put Reo in the World Type Ego because first and foremost his original motivation is to win the World Cup which is an external motivation alongside with prestige and money. Reo is shown to be a logical and strategic person well, except for Nagi when he met him. But he is different from Ness. Their situation is different.
That's why when Nagi is losing motivation to play soccer again after beating Isagi and offering the millions of bid that he can gain to motivate him, it doesn't move Nagi as much because he doesn't need it. Nagi is motivated by intrinsic factors in playing soccer and that's why he was clashing with Reo at times. This is quite evident during the second selection.
Well, I can already guess what Kiyora's type of ego is but I'll reserve my judgment on that after we get more from his character in the future chapters.
Guess this is where this ends and my shower thoughts. If you've reached this part then congratulations for wasting your precious time to read this ramblings of mine.

Well, last week was a headache.
Di had to deal with the school's unlicensed psychologist and a whiny ass teacher that got mad because Di told him that his "class" has always consisted of literally just leaving questionnaires for us to answer without explaining the topics before, and making us watch clips or parts of movies only to make us write long ass three page essays about shit that doesnt need that long to be concise and understandable, only to sometimes leave very big projects like making a PODCAST that he doesnt even bother to explain to us because "they're to obvious" . Di was very respectful with it, but this asshole of a teacher drove him out of the class and got so offended by it, that even after trying to explain what happened to the psychologist, they gave him a fucking conduct note (those notes teachers give you when you ""misbehave"") for breaking the code of conduct and being confrontational.
Confrontational where? And why would being so be wrong when you feel like an injustice is taking place, anyways. Di is a motherfucking saint of peace, wanna know who IS and WILL BE confrontational?? Me, of course. I could not go to school because of stuff that day, but it made my blood boil, I swesr to Gxd. And it got worse when I found out though him that the teachers were trying to tell him his grades were worse since we began dating, and that I was a bad influence. Dear Gxd, these teachers have no shame, at all.
I don't remember who said it but I think it was on tumblr, sometimes people talk about "respect" and they mean "being treated like an authority", and sometimes people say "respect" and they mean "being treated like a person. And when teachers say shit like "if you don't respect me, I won't respect you", they mean "if you won't treat me like an authority, I won't treat you like a person", and they think that they're being fair, but they're not.

Can't scroll through any social media without reporting/blocking an ad every other post. Personal creations get no traction. Endless amounts of art tossed into the void only to get drowned out beneath ads or bad faith opinions from someone with 100k followers (majority of whom are either bought or bots) who's completely lost touch with reality. Most social media runs exclusively off of a negative feedback loop, you spend so much time being angry at someone who hit post on something just for clicks. They don't think about you, they don't think about consequences because they're making $ off of you being upset.
Can't drive down a highway without being blinded by full LED screens bigger than my house advertising businesses I've known about for 10+ years. The cost of keeping every light on all 25 billboards in a 10 mile stretch would cover the cost of universal housing for the local area for 5+ years. 5 more storage units pop up in whatever land is left for sale.
Can't listen to a streaming service without an ad after every song. Can't listen to podcasts without 10-20 minutes of paid advertisements; all of them are either gacha games (gambling), weight-loss fads, pyramid schemes, therapy with unlicensed physicians who data mine your personal info or some brand you'd have to be living under a rock to not know. Every YouTube content creator makes videos exclusively about covering some topic or fad you should avoid on TikTok, seemingly bringing the topics even more attention than it had before; 30 minutes long with a 10 minute paid advertisement in the middle.
Can't make important phone calls without being met with automated help systems that never have an option for the issue you're having. If you're lucky enough to get sent to a real person you end up waiting 15+ minutes on hold and most of the time get disconnected before you get through, successfully wasting 30 minutes to an hour of you're limited free time.
Every streaming service has new shows and movies every day. One season, three if you're really lucky. And no more 12-24 episode series, now its 8 episodes, because that's whats bingeable. Nothing good approved for more than 2 seasons and maybe a double feature movie to tie up all of the loose ends they thought they had time to finish up before they dared to put a queer character in their cast. Is buying the media physically worth an ad every 20 minutes? Does it even exist physically; or is it another series that'll be lost to time because corporate noticed they can't make an extra $0.05 on every stream.
Every other ad is temu or shein, every product photo is blatantly ripped off of some individual creator on etsy who handmade the item and hasn't gotten a sale in 6 months. Every corporation relies on stealing from solo artists and creators and mass-producing their one-of-a-kind pieces. If they're lucky enough they'll be allowed to do a collab with a big company, all so they can make 2% of the profit.
All of this on top of having to work however many hours you need to to survive, to get by on (probably) the bare minimum, to scrape by. To pay rent to someone who owns 15 properties and charges you double what they pay monthly. Hoping (for your wallet's sake) that you don't have any emergencies lest you empty out what little savings you've been able to put aside. You get maybe 3 hours of free time in your day between keeping up with household needs. All of that, only to have to fight your way through all of the advertisements to try to enjoy the few minutes of free time you get for yourself.
I wish I could put this into words in a more palatable way, but I'm just so tired of being frustrated that so much of my limited time on earth is being wasted so someone else can make $0.0005 on 30 seconds of my life. I'm tired of being advertised to. There's so few places left worth my time on the internet anymore, because they prioritize a few cents to the ceo over me.
#im fucking tired of it man#like really really tired. its hard to enjoy anything anymore especially on the internet#ive stopped posting art anywhere because whats the point#id be lucky if it gained any traction and if it does its just more likely to be fed through some AI#i dont look at twitter anymore and when i do i just get mad that literally every 3 posts theres an ad#ads here arent any better. majority are gambling. the rest are weird broken apps or temu products#lucipurrs#negative#im on bluesky too but barely. rebuilding is too hard and nothing gains traction#i dont have the energy to put in to try to build up a following#i dont have energy to be active enough in a community AGAIN to push my stuff

MOVIE REVIEW- Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (Mild Spoiler Alert About Phoebe Included)
Let me get something off of my chest before we begin: I've been apprehensive about taking sites like Rotten Tomatoes or IGN seriously when it comes to reviews. I mean, I am aware that the purpose of the former is to show the average score of a movie among critics but I rarely take it at face value. (Hence my enjoyment of "The Super Mario Bros. Movie") and as for the latter, the quick summary of their review gave off the wrong kind of vibes, as if the person who wrote it was expecting some sort of Citizen Kane level masterpiece. And I get it, a lot of people set their expectations for a Ghostbusters movie, ANY movie, high. MAybe sometimes a little too high. For me, a good indication of whether or not I want to see a film is how the trailer portrays it. When I saw the trailers for Madame Web, for example, I wasn't too sure if it was something ! would want to see willingly in the theaters and, judging by critic and audience responses, my decision not to see it was well founded. The trailers for Frozen Empire however had the opposite effect, and I'm glad it did, as it really is a good movie all things considered.
Taking place about 3 years after the events of "Afterlife", the story returns us back to NYC where it all began: The Spenglers and Gary Grooberson have moved into the firehouse and take over the operations of the business, while Winston has opened up a new research center in Brooklyn (seriously, Brooklyn? I'm sure Queens would have had some better spots nearby.) However, the story begins to pick up steam once Ray acquires a relic that houses something decidedly sinister and soon, it will require both new and old team members to stop the threat.
The main story of course focuses on Phoebe and her rather rebellious streak (yeah, we all reached that part in our teen years when we thought we knew better) but surprisingly enough, Ray is also part of the story as sort of a mentor figure to Phoebe and Podcast (who, like Lucky, have become interns in the company as a way to explain why they are in New York). Both of them find themselves in a situation where they are sidelined because of their actions out on the field but for different reasons. Its interesting to note since we never really got to see much of Ray's interactions in the first two movies (of course the video games counter this) and Phoebe's character is slowly fleshed out more; here she is quick to anger, seems more assured of herself and more impulsive, which gets her into trouble. In short: she's a teen with a unlicensed nuclear accelerator on her back and a chip on her shoulder. Oddly enough though, she is the one sibling between herself and Trevor who seems to have gotten more attention in the potential romance department. While it's good to see Lucky return, I wished they had tried to further the potential relationship between herself and Trevor, as hinted at in the end of the previous movie. But for the purposes of the story, it's Phoebe and her maybe-girlfriend that we get to explore (yes, you read that right but I won't elaborate further since that is a big Twinkie to digest). Trevor gets relegated to a mini side story with an old ghost friend however...
That's another thing I wanted to touch on, the side stories themselves. Kumali Ali Nanjiani, one of the supporting cast members, said in an interview this movie drew inspiration from The Real Ghostbusters" cartoon series and in many aspects, it feels that way. The tone of each plot point, while seemingly independent, can at times feel like it could be part of a TV show narrative; from the cold opening to Ray's investigation into the legend of Garakka, if the film was indeed a portal into making a limited series it would fit right in. We are left with wanting to see more about the new lab that Winston has set up, the new tech guy, even more about the library but we only have so much time. And you want to see more of the Spengler/Grooberson family dynamic but we got an evil ghost god to contend with. Its a fun ride though, especially towards the end. But if we only got 20 MORE MINUTES, oh the possibilities. Does this mean its bad? No, its a good film. This is something you can definitely sit down and enjoy. But you will want more lore out of it. And hopefully when the next film comes out (and lets face it we will get one sooner or later) we will see the story take more risks. The good kind of risks too.
And MAYBE Phoebe and Trevor go on a double date.
