you said your wow oc's have their own stories, can you share them?

I did a count, and I am currently at 44 characters. For now I'll just tell the stories I have for the 4 on my Warband screen, which are Sesshy, Kanika, Phillaria, and Salarii.

Posting below the cut to avoid dash clutter

We'll start with Sesshy.

Sesshy is an Enhancement Shaman that really loves her storm spells and elemental spirit wolves (each time she summons them to fight they appear as different elements, but when summoned for the pic they both summoned as storm). She also loves to run around in her Spirit Wolf form.

She was born in Outland and loved animals. One day, she got too close to a clefthoof calf and was attacked by it's very angry mother. A large cat sprang out of nowhere and saved her. The cat shifted into a tree after to heal her wounds, then into a pointed-eared humanoid (which she soon learned was called a Kaldorei, or Night Elf).

Awed by the fact that one could turn into an animal, Sesshy decided she wanted to become a druid like the elf that saved her. She managed to discover that there was a druid encampment in Zangarmarsh, and travelled there so she could learn how to become a druid.

It was there that her dreams of being able to shapeshift into a cat or bear met it's end, as she discovered that becoming a druid wasn't something the Draenei race was capable of. There was some hope for her, however, as the head of the Cenarion Enclave mentioned that she might have better luck speaking to the Prophet Velen on Azeroth to help her find her true calling.

So off to Azeroth she went. She thought for sure the Prophet would be too busy to bother with something so trivial and meet with someone of no importance, but she was wrong. The Prohet directed her to Farseer Nobundo for a test. It was here that she discovered that she was able to commune with the elements.

After a lot of training, she was finally able to become an animal like she always dreamed, and was able to take on the form of a ghost wolf. She also learned how to summon spirit wolves to fight alongside her.

Sesshy is very devout the Alliance, and was even granted the title 'Crusader Sesshy' very early on during the war against the Lich King. She did some extra training as a healer during this time, and she actually enjoyed it, but the call of the storm always brought her back to what she enjoyed the most.

Next up is Kanika.

Kanika is a Beast Mastery Hunter that loves her spirit kitties. On the left is Shadow (ghost saber) and on the right is Ice (loque'nahak). Ice likes to run around in stealth so they appear ghost-like like Shadow.

Kanika was a survivor of the Exodar crash. She was on Azeroth before her cousin, Sesshy. Like Sesshy, she always had a love for animals. The first time she encountered a cat on Azeroth, she was smitten. There weren't any cats back in Nagrand where she'd originally come from, though she'd heard stories of animals matching their description being found in other parts of Outland.

She'd been training to be a hunter back in Nagrand, so it only made sense to continue that training. In Darkshore she came across an old elven ruin and found a small cat figurine. She picked it up with the intent to take it with her on her adventures, but it summoned forth a ghostly saber. She had no animal companion like most hunters, so she decided to see if she could make this ghost her animal companion. It took a lot of patience, but in the end, the ghostly saber decided to follow her and fight alongside her.

During the war against the Lich King, she heard rumor of a rare cat in Scholozar Basin, and with the aid of her partner at the time, Đom (another Draenei Beast Mastery Hunter like Kanika and my irl hubby), she found the beautiful spirit beast, Loque'nahak, who quickly became another companion that she renamed Ice (because of the icey blue glow coming from it's spots and mouth).

Kanika could care less about faction. Her devotion is to the spirit side of nature. She would do anything to protect it.

She was known as Ambassador Kanika for a while, as she'd gained the highest level of reptation available with all the different races of the Alliance, but she now carries the title Kanika, Veteran of the Fourth War. She fights for Azeroth as a whole, and cares little about the petty squabbling of the Horde and Alliance. To her, both sides have committed their own fair share of atrocities.

Now on to Phillaria.

Phillaria is an Arcane Mage.

Phillaria is fairly new to the conflicts of Azeroth. She spent her years as a scholor in the Outland city of Shattrath. After the leader of Burning Legion, Sargaras, plunged his sword into the world of Azeroth, she was compelled to take her years of arcane knowledge and the aid a world she knew only about from books and passing adventurers. Adventurers fought to protect what was left of her home from the Burning legion, it only felt right to offer what she could for aid in return.

Little did she know that she'd chosen a bad time to come. The factions of Azeroth had broken out into an all out war over the power the blood of Azeroth, Azerite, possessed. She was quite literally thrown into the fray of the Fourth War.

Phillaria only shows allegiance to the great mage city of Dalaran, and only because of how highly the mage, Khadgar' spoke of it during his time in Shattrath. He was the one who inspired Phillaria to become a scholor of the arcane.

Khadgar often spoke of the gifted mages there, including the Quel'dorei prince, Kael'thas Sunstrider. While Phillaria never got to meat Kael'thas personally during her time in Shattrath, she heard many stories of him and how he was a formidable mage. During the Fourth War, Phillaria struggled against many of her opponents, and it irked her. She wanted to be just as formidable as Kael'thas.

She hesitated in joining the fight in the Shadowlands, but it was there where she finally found her strength. She got to not only meet Kael'thas, but also aid him in his quest for redemption.

And lastly, Salarii.

Salarii is a Retribution Paladin.

Salarii is a Lightforged Draenei, meaning that she isn't like most Draenei. She is a member of the Army of the Light, and that her body has undergone the process of having her body infused with Holy Light by the Prime Naruu, X'era. (The Naruu are a race of beings made entirely of light)

After adventurers from Azeroth helped them fight off the Burning Legion on the planet Argus, she (along with many other lightforged) followed them back to their homeworld and aided them in the Fourth War.

Salarii is devout only to the Light, and greatly respects the paladins of the Alliance due to her teachings from Turalyn, who was one of the original founding members of the Knights of the Silver Hand on Azeroth. She strives to prove that she was worthy of having learned from someone of such high renown.

Hi, how did you learn to draw Steve's physique?

Ohh what a complicated thing to answer...

When it comes to how I learned to draw anything, it's hard to say anything too specific since it's always a culmination of many years of assorted study and practice... but I can try to do my best to explain some of the biggest things that helped me learn, some tips I keep in mind, and maybe at least some places to start/delve further.

(just a little disclaimer it's not like my drawings here are going to be 100% medically accurate.. they're just to illustrate concepts!)

The main thing about learning various physiques is understanding anatomy. Which feels obvious, but I don't mean proportions; these are important, but perhaps more important is understanding the skeleton and how it moves and learning where muscles connect to bones and where fat grows on the body. When you understand how these function on a more mechanical level, depicting form and movement in a way that feels natural comes in tow.

For instance, understanding things like the pronation and supination of the radius and ulna, as well as the fact that muscles can ONLY contract or relax, will help you understand a bit better which muscles will be flexed and which will not while someone moves. It's inherent to the positioning based on the structural makeup of the body... It's not like you NEED to memorize all the muscles and bones, of course, but understanding and gaining at least a passive familiarity with the concepts really helps.

In tandem with this concept is the way parts of the body flow into eachother. Muscles ALWAYS come in groups because they can only contract. Whatever muscle is there to lift something, there is a muscle on the other side to pull that bone back down. What this results in is a series of straight edges next to curves, which gives us a lot of really lovely "s curves" and dents and folds and so on and so forth just naturally occurring.

I would suggest at least learning the "bony landmarks", which are bones (usually) visible on the surface of the body. things like the iliac crest, the great trochanter, the 7th vertabrae, the acromion process... These can be used to help you understand the parts of the body as angles and relationships, rather than trying to remember lengths and sizes, which vary immensely... (since you asked about steve, he can be our model... also study these on your own don't just take my word for it haha, these are the ones I personally keep in mind)

I've done the same thing with body hair... learning where it grows and in which directions... It helps me make up variations without needing reference, because I have a set of rules I can follow.

The biggest thing that helped me understand all this on a much deeper level was my ecorche course. I sculpted this guy. We started by sculpting the entire skeleton to understand the bones, and then we added muscles on top. Not every single muscle, of course, but the "artistic muscles" AKA the ones which directly affect the surface of the body. Doing this let us see where muscles connect, because we would make a shape, put it on the bone where it actually goes, and then you get to see how other muscles overlap that.

This helped me, perhaps, more than anything else. But I also didn't just start with this course, I had been drawing for years before I even took it. I had been in school for years before I took it. Not that I think it wouldn't be helpful to someone just starting out, but I do think that the more you know going in, the better an in-depth course like this will help you and stick with you. Classes are also expensive, though so I'm not really like... recommending you pay potentially thousands of dollars to take one... But it did help me a lot, personally.

I also, of course, have done many figure, gesture, and master studies...

These just help you quickly gain a stronger understanding of generalized anatomy, and gives you real life examples of and practice with of how people move and balance.

What all this does when combined, is gives me a very solid ability to depict movement and form in a way that feels relatively natural from my subconscious without the need for reference.

The rest of how I've learned to draw his physique is honestly mostly just stylization. I understand the body, and this is how I am depicting it for his level of musculature.

And as I move into depicting him in other ways, either moving in comics or in animation, realistically rendered, or extra stylized, these concepts inform every step of that process for me! When he keeps the same/similar relationships between parts, he gets to still look like himself.

It ALSO really helps when putting clothes on, because the way cloth falls and bunches and lifts is all directly related to the form it is on... So the more you understand that form, the more you can depict clothing and movement in a way that feels natural.

This is all, of course, true when I draw anyone, you asked about Steve so I'm trying to mostly show with him! But because I'm just drawing from raw information of general anatomy rather than trying to study one body type at a time, it allows a lot more "give," I think!

But, it also makes monster and alien design much easier! It's a lot easier to come up with non-human anatomy when I understand human anatomy, because I can manipulate the knowledge I have...

There is infinite more to study in the world of anatomy... The complexity of the human body goes extremely deep. For our purposes as artists, we need only depict a fraction of it, but more information rarely hurts the process.

I'm sure there's something in here that's wrong on a technical level, I'm mostly going off of memory. But that's kind of my point - I understand enough generally and conceptually that when I am missing something and need to find reference for it, I understand what I'm looking at. It's much easier than trying to learn AND draw at the same time.

can you expand on what you mean about 12x22 and berens? i’ve never really looked at the writer patterns before but i’m intrigued

so jensen did a solo panel at JIB 8 in 2017 and an earlier question prompted him to recount his experience having difficulty connecting with the mary & dean relationship in s12 and the character motivation behind it. (and i think he's correct in saying that fans picked up on him not gelling with it which actually works in some episodes but feels off in others.)

anyway! berens was on-set when they were filming 12x22 "who we are" and jensen told him "oh god i get it now!" with the "i hate you, i forgive you" speech (that dean's character arc was him needing to forgive mary) and berens had no idea what he was talking about.

hopefully this embedded correctly to start at the right time code, but if not, he starts talking about it at 19:45

which yes, there's the possibility that berens was just yanking jensen's chain* about not realizing the "i hate you, i forgive you" was the thesis of mary & dean's relationship arc in s12. but also i really am inclined to believe he didn't realize he'd tied up the whole arc bc berens has been such a chronic dean misunderstander over the years. like folks will talk about dean as the "angry man" in late seasons and... that's mostly berens, baby!**

and i know you didn't ask but this is why the confession falls so flat for me. it rings hollow bc this is the writer who has done more than anyone else in the last few seasons to make dean an un-likeable prick. i do like the confession as a radical act of self-love (that "having" doesn't matter and "being" is more important) but as cas confessing his love to dean? yeah, i just can't buy it given the other stuff berens wrote over the years and the narrative framing is just off. much like the finale, it's tragedy wearing an ill-fitting ballgown and looking in a fun house mirror.

so, in summary (x)

* this is a bit unkind, but jensen is such a consummate pro that i would not be surprised if the "maybe he was yanking my chain" was a way to save face for berens since jensen has disagreed with him on his episodes before.

** i did not jive with 14x20 "moriah" until i re-watched it without the baggage of 14x18 before it (14x19 isn't great but does set up the "logic" of dean's actions in 14x20; never 5get that cas wanted to put jack in the cage... how is that different from a ma'lak box?). i think berens was just not a good fit for spn and especially not the direction they were going in during dabb era. i'm not a big fan of him in carver era either but he fit the vibes and direction way better.

how do you feel about the sexualization of certain characters within the fandom, including some of the tributes or most vulnerable people (e.g, finnick, or katniss and peeta?)

so i do fully believe that anybody who wants to have one deserves a rich and fulfilling sex life, whatever that looks like for them. i have absolutely no qualms about people portraying trauma survivors and/or those who are seen as more vulnerable as having sex lives in their fanworks. i think that’s actually really good and very important to do.

however. if you specifically are sexualizing the characters, i think you’re so, so heavily missing the point. the point is that these characters have had their bodies and their sexuality weaponized and turned against them, and that is included in the story to show the severe effects that trauma and exploitation of that nature can have. a lot of them were getting trafficked (or in the case of Katniss and Peeta, only barely avoided it but were forced into another exploitative situation) while they were still children. it is meant to be disturbing. it is not meant to make you think they’re hot.

I’ve already talked about how Johanna and Finnick do act very flirty and promiscuous, but it’s because a trauma response. i think people take those character traits at face value and don’t really look at why they act like that (and it is very, very clearly spelled out in books that are YA level, so if you’ve read them and still are not getting it, that’s a little on you) and that really contributes to this. obviously the movies didn’t help. but what it really boils down to is that people are not understanding the role of the characters in the story at all, and they’re instead demonstrating how easy it is to exploit them that way. and honestly it’s really too bad because i like to think people have better comprehension than that but you know what? i’ve also literally seen someone say they would buy Finnick and i’m like yep we’re done here i got no words left to say.

Okay besties let's get into it!! First things first obviously I've gotta talk about our man Mike and his performance as Nye Bevan. He's got BUCKET loads of boyish charm and energy. Honestly, he's like a cocker spaniel flitting around that stage. If there's one thing that Michael Sheen has it's comedic timing, he really knows when to emphasise and push, and it's exciting to see so many jokes land successfully at preview stage. He's SUCH a compelling speaker, so Nye's speeches hit hard and carry all his passion. His stutter is crazy accurate and obviously well researched and rehearsed - although I'd expect nothing less from the man of many impressions. Also the singing?? Go off Mariah Carey!! He's got some pipes on him ya know, and a FAT ass that I wanna chomp down on so hard i leave a mark that lasts for weeks.

In the first act the stage directions were a little clunky, and it takes some time to get used to the fever dream/I'm-off-my-tits-on-morphine style flash-backs. The second act finds it's rhythm and the pacing is a load steadier, however some of the physical theatre left...a lot to be desired. I'm intrigued to go again later in the run and see how it's developed, or in some places perhaps cut entirely. Often the production seems to panic about filling the huge empty stage, and barrels out it's big cast without any real purpose or impact. It needs to trust it's core cast members, and have faith that their performances are strong enough to capture the audience and fill the void. The scurrying frequently happening behind them only served as a distraction to the main event.

It's so much sillier than I was expecting. Overall it's great fun, has an impactful story, and a very strong cast to carry it through and leave a lasting impression despite its occasional restlessness. This really is Michael at his best and anyone who has a ticket is in for a treat.

Anyways! This is just a self indulgence thingy I made for my Dear, and isn't canon with the storyline! Just a headcanon! :D

Okay okay so yeah I made that in one day because I was feeling silly after relistening to the inversion and wondered "Hey, what was Dear doing while this wack shit was happening?" And boom this happened!

To make a long yapping session short: Dear had a little brother that went to the Games to support a friend who was competing, Dear on the other hand had to stay home to finish up his students exams. Dear was the last person to know about the inversion, only finding out hours after the ward came down. He was called to verify the body of his little brother. His little brother stumbled across Kody after being injured by a Shade, he begged for help but was only yelled at and attacked by Kody. He crawled away from Kody, only to be finished off minutes later by Shades feasting on his life force.

Dear doesn't know Kody was the cause of his death, but he had a sinking feeling ever since that day. He wonders why he feels sick every time he walks past him.

(Tldr: I used Damien's angst as foreshadowing for an off screen death of the little brother of Dear, also we hate Kody here-)

What style of clothes does Neo wear to work? More casual jeans and hoodie or bit more office stuff, like a collard shirt and tie?

I feel like Desmond wouldn't really have any specific uniform/dress code for the company, other than things like don't wear anything blatantly offensive and if you're going to be out in the yard/near any equipment then you need to wear safe/appropriate clothes

So yeah I could imagine him wearing more casual stuff, but I could also see him going a bit more "business casual" since like 99% of his work is inside the office lol
