A general tip for students who are sending those dreaded Religious Absence Emails to your professors: Rather than asking permission to take the day(s) off, politely let them know that you will be taking the day(s) off.
In other words, consider not saying this:
"May I miss class on [date] so I can observe [holiday]?"
It's not that there's anything wrong with the above, per se. But because it's phrased as a request, it risks coming across as optional â a favor you hope to be granted. Problem is, favors are not owed, and so unfortunately asking permission opens the door for the professor to respond "Thanks for asking. No, you may not. :)"
Instead, try something along the lines of:
"I will need to miss class on [date] because I will be observing [holiday]. I wanted to let you know of this conflict now, and to ask your assistance in making arrangements for making up whatever material I may miss as a result of this absence."
This is pretty formal language (naturally, you can and should tweak it to sound more like your voice). But the important piece is that, while still being respectful, it shifts the focus of the discussion so that the question becomes not "Is it okay for me to observe my religion?", but rather, "How can we best accommodate my observance?"
Because the first question should not be up for debate: freedom of religion is a right, not a favor. And the second question is the subject you need to discuss.
(Ideally, do this after you've looked up your school's policy on religious absences, so you know what you're working within and that religious discrimination is illegal. Just in case your professor forgot.)
#this strategy got me through all of college#and some professors were a lot more supportive than others but no one ever told me no#because i didn't give them the chance#jumblr#judaism#religious absences#relevant to other minority religions as well#as well as non-religious accommodations#and non-school settings#dandelion says#jewish dandelion#note: the policy/legality details will vary depending on where you live and go to school#when i talk about religious discrimination laws this is based on public universities in the us

its prosecutor jiang wanyin!!!! oh fuck!!! / gifs + au rambling below the cut / follow for more mdzs x aa crossover stuff :3
all the gifs i made (poses traced off franziska):
hes so similar to franziska when you think about it. theyre both deeply insecure tsundere adoptive younger sibling of successful main characters. who carry whips. something something edgeworth choosing death and wwx actually dying also
his share code is HWFEFF if you wanna use him in a trial! you can't share backgrounds but heres the scenery from the donghua i used.
the easiest way to put custom stuff into objection.lol is to send it in discord and then use the link from opening it in your browser :)
a whole lot of AU stuff
the art im making is for if mdzs was an ace attorney game, playing from WWX's POV to solve various mysteries/cases over the course of the plot. so this scene would be from turnabout goddess, which would loosely cover the dafan mountain mystery.
cases include:
Turnabout Revenge (Mo Manor, quick introductory first case)
Turnabout Goddess (Dafan mountain, the good times flashback)
Turnabout Saber (the man-eating castle (omg hiii nhs))
The Blind Turnabout (Yi City arc)
Turnabout Deviation (the Koi Tower conference, Empathy on NMJ ala turnabout memories or beginnings. opening cutscene is his qi deviation)
The Blood-Soaked Turnabout (second Burial Mounds siege, flashbacks: Xuanwu, Sunshot, YLLZ, Nightless City massacre)
Turnabout Lotus Seeds (testimony about JGY, tree scene, golden core reveal, bathtub scene. opening cutscene could be JGS' death but that would make it canon rather than ambiguous)
Turnabout Confession (Guanyin temple)
the problem with splitting novel!mdzs into turnabouts is that flashbacks are a huge chunk of the book but they don't have mysteries/ cases to solve so they've gotta be lumped together with present day stuff. imo? many of the flashbacks would likely have to be abridged so they could be retold ala DL-6, SL-9, or the fourth grade incident, where characters talk about it over some pieces of art. this is really difficult when theres a metric ton of unspoken, complex, and signifcant history between every character lmao
there's not as much of a problem with the cql timeline but i have not finished it. so.
the opening cutscenes in ace attorney always show the murder and/or the murderer plotting. the first cutscene of the game would be MXY summoning WWX, muttering about getting revenge on his family (it would also be good for him to mention the yllz being dead because that's how the novel starts.) cut to WWX's POV as he wakes up covered in blood and the investigation segment begins.
for investigations of monsters (goddess, saber, etc) the cutscene would be a scene of some poor throwaway cultivator getting their shit wrecked.
it would be cool to make a breakdown for JGY but again I need to review that scene cause I don't know who I'd base him on. maybe Vasquez or Dahlia.
tell me your thoughts!! i'm working off of a mdzs summary/ skimming the novel because i don't remember it too well so if i get anything wrong please yell at me
Jin Ling's sprites & Nie Huaisang's sprites / masterpost
#PLEAAAASE send it to me if you do actually use my animations in a caseđ„ș#here im adapting mdzs to aa gameplay rather than making a mdzs AU where they are lawyers#so jiang cheng is not a prosecutor in this hes just angry. and on the right side of the screen#that man has not graduated law school but then again no one in ace attorney has either#the names are based off of how ace attorney cases are either named after a distinctive item/location (bigtop bridge samurai etc)#or the main emotional/character type thing that happens (goodbyes reminiscence farewell)#the mdzs/aa au where the stories get blended (ie my tags on the nhs post) is very interesting but i would have to think about it very hard#and i dont want to . i would rather think about what the court record would look like (its full of severed limbs)#MDZS' EXPLORATIONS OF MORALITY MAKE ME CHEW ON ROCKS#urrgh i got carried away writing this post & wrote a couple hundred words comparing aa and mdzs' attitudes towards morality & public opinio#i could write an essay on this topic tbh.#can i call this an au? its the same story in the same universe just in a different format. hmm#mdzs#aa#art#mo dao zu shi#ace attorney#grandmaster of demonic cultivation#cql#the untamed#jiang cheng#jin ling#objection.lol#flashing image tw#pixel art#animation#my art#franziska von karma#i guess??#mdzs aa au

A Harvard University law student who was charged with two misdemeanors after accosting an Israeli classmate last October has now landed a job in Washington, D.C.'s public defender's office.
The student, identified in a Washington Free Beacon report as Harvard Law Review editor Ibrahim Bharmal, has landed an immigration law clerkship with the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia, according to a LinkedIn post. Bharmal and divinity school graduate student Elom Tettey-Tamaklo were each charged with two misdemeanors on May 19 stemming from their conduct at an Oct. 18 "die-in" protest held outside Harvard Business School. Bharmal and Tettey-Tamaklo were captured on camera accosting a first-year Israeli business school student, surrounding the student and making it difficult for him to walk freely, as keffiyeh-clad onlookers shouted, "SHAME!"
Bharmal was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery and with violations of the Massachusetts Civil Rights Act, which prohibits attempts to "intimidate or interfere with ⊠any other person in the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured to him [or her] by the constitution." Bharmal is expected back in court in September for his arraignment and faces up to 100 days in jail for each count, court filings reviewed by the Free Beacon show.
There is no indication that Harvard has taken any disciplinary action against Bharmal. When asked if his pending charges and a possible conviction would impact his graduationâscheduled for next yearâHarvard told the Free Beacon that it does "not comment on individual considerations related to discipline or student status."
Since the incident, Bharmal has remained in good standing with the school. In fact, Bharmal avoided discipline altogether, according to a January legal complaint. He is pursuing a joint degree program at the Ivy League university, namely a law degree and a master's in public policy, and still lists being an editor for the Harvard Law Review on his LinkedIn. Tettey-Tamakloâthe other student involvedâwas removed from his role as a freshman proctor in November, but otherwise, the school did "nothing to sanction" him, the complaint said.
Bharmal did not respond to a request for comment.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the D.C. public defender's office shared a post about Bharmal on LinkedIn, detailing his experience as a law clerk and thanking him for his "commitment to our clients." Bharmal says in the post that, after graduating Harvard, he would like to support "immigrants, asylum-seekers, and other newly arriving neighbors." The post also revealed a "fun fact" about Bharmal: "He is currently training to be a bollywood spin instructor...class sign-ups incoming."
The office did not respond to a request for comment on whether it was aware of Bharmal's ongoing legal proceedings.

Thinking about Gotham Public Schools again.
You have to wonder if just Gotham generally being Gotham impacts what students learn in school.
Are students taught from a young age how to solve riddles in english class? We always had like warm ups we had to do in english class like a prompt to write about or something. Do Gotham kids have to solve riddles every day to practice?
What about Chemistry class? Do they learn the chemical composition of fear toxin/joker venom/bane venom/etc and how to neutralize or make an antidote? Do they learn how to test water and chemically and biologically filter it to make it drinkable in a pinch? Do they learn how to filter air and make an on the fly gas mask?
Are they taught self defense in PE class? Do they start in kindergarten and is it their longest unit?
Do they learn how to defuse a bomb in engineering class?
Is there a whole unit in biology about Ivy's plants and pollens?
Is half their health class just dedicated to basic first aid? Do they learn more complicated stuff like how to give stitches or fix a bullet wound?
Is criminal psychology or forensic the highest demanded elective at the high school?
Do they learn about the the black market and underground economy in Econ class? Do they talk about the basic monopoly Wayne Enterprises has on Gotham? Do they talk about the historic causes of poverty?
Are they taught about crime lords influence in politics?
Do they learn about vigilantes and rogues in their history class?
Is the "what jobs do your family have" assignment never used because honestly who wants to hear about your uncle or parent or cousin working for Joker or Penguin or Black Mask?
IDK just like what do Gotham students learn that freak out anyone else when they hear it?

People love ragging on Catholics on this site (fast free and easy like river water socks) but I think itâs extra funny yâall seem to think Catholics are some sort of sex prudes. Like, if a Catholic man does not give his wife an orgasm he is failing his sworn duties as a husband. I did not endure polite insinuations that my parents fucked often and well to have as many kids as they have for you to act like any self respecting Catholic is a celibate virgin. Laypeople have sex in this denomination Kaitleign. What are we, Calvinists? Jansenism is soooo 17th century Protestant Reformation-informed heresy.
#ra speaks#personal#not tagging otherwise bc tbh I canât remember if it was formally declared a heresy or if aspects of its teachings were papally condemned#and I donât want any um actually đ€ people in my notes or inbox.#anyways. point is Iâm sorry youâre culturally Christian USAmerican Protestant and just finding out Catholics often have mandatory sex ed#at least my school did + my grandma had an amazing little book about Catholic marriage sex tips akdjwhfjsjssj#if youâre Catholic and under the impression that fucking wasnât supposed to be importantâŠidk sorry your catechist didnât ever cover like.#humanae vitae or any other encylcicles on sexuality and reproduction.#idk if it was an effort to inform/combat congregational abuse (eg. we know kids w sex ed are more likely to report/recognize abuse)#but my school was pretty damn blunt about it all. hereâs a dick and all itâs anatomy. hereâs a vagina and all itâs anatomy.#fucking and touching is supposed to be between a married man and woman (as expected)#but itâs also supposed to be fun and shouldnât hurt and if itâs not and does hurt you need to communicate w them or reach out to a doctor#like. this was early 2010s im still fucking baffled my parochial school Franciscan nuns gave us a better grasp of sex ed than my high schoo#public school sex ed. the teacher there justified emotional abuse and manipulation if itâs against a guy.#and itâs not like their queer sex ed existed beyond âand this can be between two people of any genderâ clauses#anyways. you know me have fun and be safe im just tickled to see ppl think their experiences and expectations are universal.

thereâs a lot of things i would love to change about the usa if i was in charge for a day, but probably the least controversial are:
immediate cessation of daylight savings bs nationally. none of this waiting for individual states to pass laws about it, just the whole thing all at once. whatever side of it weâre on when that happens, thatâs how itâs gonna stay.
no more medical ads. why is this normal here!!! a lot of places have this banned already because iâm not a fcking doctor and probably shouldnât be choosing medicine based on a marketing budget!
billboards outlawed. at minimum we should ditch these out in the countryside, take the vermont approach. but seriously, who would miss these? itâs just one step removed from ads blanketing the sky and i want them GONE.
#plus all the obvious things like free school breakfast and lunch#get rid of weird money restrictions on disability#protected right to abortions and gender-related care#free public childcare esp for pre-k#and universal healthcare

i find cia conspiracy theories* really funny cause like. my grandpa was in the cia. i knew this man extremely well. he liked cigars and martinis and he was stationed as an operative in some of the highest war crime ridden areas during the 60s and 70s. he raised six children between two wives. he probably killed people he couldn't talk about.
but he's not some ultra intelligent shadowy operative. he was a man who took orders and carried them out. he also peed with the door open and never threw out leftovers. i think conspiracy theories would be a lot less popular if more people actually met government workers.
*to be clear i don't mean the ones that have been, like, proven. i mean the comic book flavor ones.

OKAY ITS DONE here, Incredibles au thing that got way too long, and I had to force myself not to add more. It was supposed to be just a short little sickfic darnit. Takes place maybe year after Lost Time, but it doesnât have much to do with it. Thatâs just where things are time-wise XD
Minor warning for some throwing up, itâs not graphic, but itâs there.

ââââââââââââââââââââ
Warriors covered his mouth as he let out a huge yawn, absently pouring cereal into his bowl while he listened to the rain patter relentlessly against the window.
Being forced to get up so early for school was an absolute crime in his opinion. He didnât really mind getting up on the earlier end of things, but it was barely even light outside, not to mention a dreary, wet sort of day that nobody should have to go out in.
Warriors wished it was an actual crime. Then heâd have an excuse to do something about it.
âI wonât be here when you guys get home from school, Iâve got patrol and a double-shift,â Time apologized as he walked past the table, grabbing a bag with his lunch in it as he pulled on his coat. âIf you need anything after school you can ask Gaepora, okay? And if anything serious happensââ
âDonât worry about it Time, weâll be fine,â Warriors said with a wave. Heâd been so clingy since Majora. âYou better go before youâre late.â
Time sighed, and made the expression Warriors knew was him checking his internal clock. âI know, I know. Iâll see you at dinner, have an uneventful day at school,â Time teased, and ruffled Warriorsâ hair all over the place before heading out the door.
Warriors grumbled as the door shut, spending the next several minutes smoothing his hair back down. He then went back to eating his cereal and staring mindlessly at the puzzle on the back of the box, koroks smiling as they danced around a word search.
Nothing like a dumb puzzle and cold cereal to get the brain going for the day.
The words had all been found but one (he couldnât find crispy anywhere, which was ironic, because his cereal hadnât been crispy even before heâd dumped the milk on it), and Warriors was about to see what had happened to his brother when a creak above him signaled Sky finally getting out of bed.
Cutting it a little close, Warriors thought as he glanced at the clock. Sky was a sleepy guy, but he was usually up before now. Theyâd have to rush to make it to the bus stop on time.
Sky trailed down the stairs as Warriors grabbed his backpack and boots, wings dragging behind him as he yawned.
âGrab an apple or something Sky, we need to go,â he said, pulling his scarf over his shoulders, and Sky mumbled a reply, stifling a cough in his arm.
Warriors paused at the lackluster response, and watched as Sky grabbed a handful of cereal, nibbling on it as he slowly retracted his wings and pulled down his shirt. He movements were slow as he began pulling on his rain gear, and Warriors raised an eyebrow.
âYou good Sky?â he asked, giving him a suspicious look.
âYeah, Iâm okay,â Sky answered, with a bright smile that didnât quite reach his eyes. âJust... just tired. I didnât sleep the best.â
Warriors looked him over again, noticing that Skyâs normal eye bags were darker than normal, and how his face looked a little pale. It might have been Warriorsâ imagination, but he thought he might have been shaking a little as well, and as he stared, Sky sneezed harshly into his arm.
âGesundheit. Sky are you sure youâre okay? You... could always stay home,â Warriors suggested, but Sky shook his head, slipping on his own boots and backpack.
âIâm fine Wars, Iâm not staying home because I didnât sleep enough,â he scoffed lightheartedly. âQuit worrying, âm fine.â
Warriors met his gaze, and Sky met it in turn, the look in his eyes almost daring him to keep pressing the issue. But Warriors couldnât really prove anything, and without Time as backup, there was no way heâd be able to get Sky to stay at home, even with his growing suspicion that there was something wrong further than too little sleep.
â...if youâre sure,â Warriors finally said, still feeling suspicious.
âPositive,â Sky assured, then gave him a smile as he walked past him out the door into the chilly, wet morning.
Warriors watched him go, then followed afterwards, a lump of worry settling into his gut.
(...)
Warriors and Sky didnât share many morning classes, so once they got to school, Warriors spent most of his time worrying about him from a distance, trying to catch glances of him in the hall, and debating if his worry was really justified.
After all, Sky sometimes just didnât sleep well. He had nightmares the same as Warriors did, and sometimes they were bad enough to keep him up at night. A singular sneeze and a few unsteady movements really werenât a sign of anything wrong.
There really was no reason for him to still be worrying over Sky, and by the time lunch had rolled around, Warriors had mostly silenced the little voice in his head that was fretting.
Until he actually saw Sky, anyways.
Warriors caught sight of his brother from across the room, and froze, entirely forgetting about the growling in his stomach. Sky looked absolutely awful from where Warriors could see him sitting, paler than this morning and quite obviously not touching his lunch. The worry roared back to life in Warriorsâ stomach, and he slipped past the crowds of people in the cafeteria and joined his side.
Sky was arguing with Sun over something, and didnât notice him walk up, until Warriors touched his shoulder anyways. Then he startled and looked over, and Warriors grew even more worried.
Up close he could see Skyâs cheeks were flushed, in stark contrast to the pallid tone of the rest of his face. He was noticeably trembling now, and Warriors grabbed his arm, giving him an intent look.
âSky, you look terrible,â he said worriedly, and Sky frowned.
âGee, thanks,â he grumbled, looking annoyed. âEverybody keeps saying that.â
âProbably because you look like death warmed over,â Sun said from next to him, her face full of worry. âSeriously Sky, it couldnât hurt to have the nurse check you out, right?â
âI said Iâm fine,â Sky said shortly, and poked at his sandwich a bit.
âI think Sun is right,â Warriors replied, then tried to tug Sky to his feet. âWe should go see the nurse.â
âIâm fine Wars, how many times do I have to say it?â Sky said sourly, but Warriors could hear the rasp in it now, and the lump of worry in his stomach grew.
âSky, youâve been looking worse and worse all day,â Sun said, getting to her feet as well, âI really think you should go see the nurse. Now.â
âI think so too,â said one of the other people at the table, an older boy named Pipit. The girl next to him nodded as well. âSky, you look awful.â
âIâm fine!â Sky snapped, then immediately looked ashamed at the outburst, turning away from the table with his arms crossed tightly over his stomach. âSeriously guys, just leave me alone, Iâm okay,â he mumbled, and Warriors exchanged looks with Sun.
He carefully extended a hand and placed on Skyâs forehead, his stomach falling at the heat radiating off of it. Sky looked even shakier than he had been now that he was standing up, and Warriors decided that enough was enough.
âSky, you need to see the nurse, youâre burning up,â he said firmly, and began to tug him away.
Sky tugged back though, and Warriors was surprised at how strong his grip was despite how much his hand was shaking.
âNo I donât,â Sky bit back, and Sun stood up as well.
The rest of the people at the table theyâd been sitting at were staring openly now as Warriors tried to tug Sky away, but his brother was putting up quite the struggle despite how awful he looked.
âSky please,â Sun begged, going to Warriorsâ side and helping him pull at their stubborn friend. âWeâre worried about you, you almost fell over earlier in Science! Can you justââ
âHey Sun!â
âOh not now,â Sun groaned under her breath as a boy with large red hair sauntered up to their table, trailed by two other boys.
Groose, the most annoying person in the entire school in Warriorsâ opinion, took in the scene with his hands on his hips, eyes trailing over Warriors and Sun with their arms on Sky, who was shivering openly now and looking less pale and more green.
He burst into mocking laughter.
âWhat the heck are you losers doing now?â Groose snorted, and jabbed Sky in the chest. âLooks like little Sky isnât doing so hot, huh? He need some chicken soup and a kiss on the forehead to feel all better?â
Groose smirked down at Sky as his lackeys laughed, but it was at that moment that Sky lost the battle against his body.
He put a hand to his mouth, and Warriors barely had time to figure out what was about to happen and get out of the way before Sky lurched over and emptied out everything that was in his stomach... right on to Grooseâs shoes.
There was a split second of silence as shock passed over Grooseâs face, his eyes wide as he stared down at his ruined sneakers.
And then the cafeteria broke into pandemonium as Groose began yelling, his lackeys jumping backwards with disgusted looks on their faces. Kids were hollering at the sight and those that hadnât seen were trying to figure out what had happened, and at least one adult was yelling for order. But Warriorsâ focus was solely on Sky, who was shivering so hard it looked like he was about to collapse where he was still bent over.
Sun handed him a napkin to wipe off his mouth with, and Warriors put an arm on his shoulder again and attempted to steer him out of the cafeteria, Sun doing the same on his other side.
There was so much going on it was difficult to make any headway though, people pointing and worrying and laughing at what had happened. Right as Warriors was about to start shoving people, a larger hand settled on Skyâs back, and steered all three of them out into the hallway.
Warriors looked up to see Mr. Owlan, one of the teachers Sunâs father worked with, who was looking at the three of them with a concerned expression.
âMr. Owlan? Why arenât you at the high school?â Sun asked confusedly, and the teacher hummed.
âI was here to substitute for the morning, one of the science teachers is sick. I suppose itâs a good thing I stayed for lunch,â he said as he looked at the three of them.
Warriors swallowed. âWe werenât trying to do anything except get Sky to come see the nurse,â he quickly explained, and Owlan nodded.
âIâm aware. You three werenât exactly being quiet. I was actually about to come over before Sky... gave us a very good reason for why he needs to go to the nurse.â
Sky moaned a little, and Owlanâs face softened as he studied him, placing a wrist on his forehead and frowning when he noticed him shivering.
âIâll call your brother and see about getting Sky home. Heââ
âHeâs working, you wonât be able to reach him,â Warriors interrupted, then winced slightly at Owlanâs expression. Time would be on patrol about now, and Warriors didnât want Owlan to call him and be treated to the sound of his older brother beating up bank robbers or something.
Their teacher lowered his arm from Skyâs forehead, and leveled Warriors with a raised eyebrow.
âHeâs completely unavailable?â he asked in a disapproving voice.
âYes, but we live next door, my father can come and take him home,â Sun quickly put in. Owlan blinked at her earnest expression, then chuckled a bit.
âThat certainly sounds like your father. In that case, Iâll go call him and see about getting Sky picked up,â he directed at Sun and Warriors, and they nodded as he folded his hands behind his back. âIn the meantime, I think you two should take him to the nurseâs office. He can rest there until he can be picked up.â
âThank you Mr. Owlan,â Sun said politely, and Warriors gently tugged Sky away, Owlan turning and heading for his office.
Warriors and Sun guided Sky down the hall and towards the nurseâs office, the hallways feeling strangely quiet after the cacophony of the lunchroom. It wasnât until they reached the door of the nurseâs office that Sky finally spoke, and when he did, his voice was small and embarrassed.
âI really thought I could make it through the day,â Sky whispered, and Sun gave him a look.
âI donât know how,â she said with an eye roll, but gave Skyâs arm a warm squeeze as they went inside. âHow are you feeling Sky? Really feeling?â
Warriors watched Sky as they sat down on a bench inside the office, his brother hesitating. But after a moment his shoulders slumped in defeat, and he rubbed a hand against his face.
â...Pretty bad,â he murmured finally. âI just feel... dizzy. And achy, kind of. Stomach hurts.â
âAre you going to be sick again?â Warriors asked quietly, and Sky gave him a tiny shrug.
âNot right this second,â he mumbled, looking miserable. Warriors frowned, and looked around for anyone coming before coating his hand in just a bit of ice, resting it on Skyâs forehead.
Sky leaned into the touch with a sigh, and Sun squeezed his arm before getting up and going down the hall to get Sky some water. In the meantime, Warriors and Sky waited in silence for the nurse to finish whatever it was she was doing and see them.
Warriors couldnât help but watch Sky as they waited, a faint look of discomfort on his brotherâs face. His raspy breathing seemed louder in the quiet of the office, and Warriors held back a sigh as Sky coughed.
So much for an uneventful day at school.
âWhy didnât you want to just stay home, Sky? It wouldâve been okay,â he asked quietly. Sky looked down at his feet, not replying for several moments.
âI didnât want to bother Time,â he whispered. âYou and him have done so much for me, and he would have had to stay home and youâve been dealing with a lot lately, I...â
He shook his head, and coughed into his arm.
â...I didnât want to add to it,â he mumbled.
âTime wouldnât have minded, Sky,â Warriors said gently, and Sky kept looking at his feet. âWeâre your family you know, we take care of each other. Even if it means missing a day or two of work.â
âHis work is important,â Sky mumbled, and Warriors squeezed his arm.
âSo are you, Sky.â
His brother swallowed again, but didnât resist when Warriors tugged him over to lean on his shoulder.
Sun came back with a cup of water for him only moments later, and Sky gladly rinsed out his mouth. Warriors thought he looked a better after sipping the rest, a little less sickly-looking and pale. Though that might have just been the lighting in the room.
âYou know, I feel a little bad for Groose, but... his face was pretty funny, wasnât it,â Sun said after a minute, her lip twitching.
âHeâs going to be so mad the next time he sees us,â Warriors replied with a held-back snicker, mind flashing back to Grooseâs expression of utter shock.
âIâm never gonna hear the end of it,â Sky groaned. Warriors looked over at him, but Sky was smirking, a glint in his eye. âI just hope he doesnât make me buy him new shoes.â
Warriors let out a snort, and he and Sun both broke into laughter, Sky joining them after only a moment.
All three were still laughing when the nurse finally came out to see them.

i mean this in as non-judgmental a way as i can because not everybody has the same knowledge and that is a morally neutral fact but it does astound me that people can know enough about beowulf to know that it's in old english but not know enough about either of those things to understand what period they belong to
#this is like that time somebody asked me if the medieval period came before or after the romans#back when i worked in a public library#it was a parent trying to find books for their kid who wanted to learn about vikings i think#they were clearly profoundly failed at school but i had shite history teachers and still learned this young enough not to remember when#so it just never occurred to me that telling people the history books were shelved in chronological order wouldn't help them#this was an oversight on my part! i gave better directions after that!#but really was one of those. wow. this knowledge is so ingrained and automatic for me it never occurred to me it might not be universal

Hello. for those of you who are unaware, I am a student at Michigan state university. if you've been keeping up with the news, you may know where this is going.
TW: Gun violence, death, shooting
at 8:18 pm on February 13th, shots were fired into a nearby building on campus. from that point on, we were on lockdown. I barricaded myself in my dorm room with my roommate and started reaching out to those I knew.
3 of my classmates lost their lives, and several more are injured. I will be putting updates here for what's going on around campus and any GoFundMes made to support the victims and/or their families.
Please. don't make this another statistic. that could've been me that lost my life. Please fight for me and my classmates. they deserve to be alive today.
