I’ve gotten pretty good at reading birth charts (even have some mysme astrology headcanons) and absolutely LOVE learning anything I can about the subject. It is, to me, a way of understanding not just how people work but also the mechanisms of life itself.

I also like writing, reading, and playing games in my free time. Rn I’m into reading stuff like essays and poetry collections and stuff. And my favorite game to play (the only one I play consistently really lmao) is genshin. I like it’s aesthetics and the lore has me absolutely sucked in. I also sing a lot, and dance. As for activities I like to do: anything social. Going to cafes and bars, going to plays, (unironically) shopping.

I’d say I’m pretty aloof in relationships. I’m really bad at expressing my feelings for the other person, I tend to be a bit insecure on that regard. I like to keep my distance, both physically and emotionally lmao. I’ll talk about whatever with you but it’s hard for me to be actually vulnerable. I struggle with burying my feelings with work and other activities, or disconnecting from the emotional side of the issue by looking at the practical.

My friends all describe me as very funny and I guess I am. I like seeing the humor in things and often point it out, and I don’t take things too seriously at times. I’m also pretty hard to read, but I’d say that’s bc I don’t tend to trust people enough to be truly open with them. I would obviously love for that to happen, though.

It takes a lot for me to fall in love, but when I do, I’m always hooked for a long, long time. I’m like… offhandedly possessive, wanting to spend all day with the person. I also want to know everything about them, like discover them kinda. Tbh I’m not very experienced with love in general (but curiously I write about it a lot).

Journaling for my mental health as an epic scene girl (not clickbait) Day 1!

Today (sunday) I woke up at like 12:44 am or pm idkkkk but it was when the sun was up and like my dad had asked me to call him and since I have like ptsd I tweaked out but I brushed my teeth first because like I'm trying to get myself into the routine of doing that now. Anyway I called him and he just wanted me to like make my sister breakfast and put the food we made in the fridge but like he rlly freaked me out by just texting me "Call me when you wake up.". And he said he was getting us pizza which is now one of my least favorite things to hear from him (because of the c-a-l-o-r-i-e-s and because I'm really bad at expressing grattitude to him since we are sorta close (he is my bio dad I've known him all my life its complicated). But anyway I made my lil sister (10 yr old nerd) an awesome omelet with mozerela and sausage slices AND a cheese crust idk how to explain it basically I put cheese in a pan after I made the omelet and when it was still melty and not hard I put the omelet I already made on it and the I folded the whole thing when the cheese was cooked!! I bet it was yummy idk tho but anyway after that I scammed someone on adopt me (l-o-l) for like an fr panda, r sloth and nfr or nr hydra they got 20k rh diamonds tho soooo yk its fine!!! Okay, seriously, I unironically love this movie, it might be my favorite out of the ones I’ve seen so far actually. TMP felt like the movies getting their sea legs, but it was slow and messy, it wasn’t as thought provoking as it wanted to be (aside from Spock’s wonderful arc in that film). WoK & TSFS are amazing for drama and angst and Spirk content, but they weren’t really asking the big questions Star Trek is wonderful for. Then The Voyage Home is just plain silly and fun and wholesome. But this, this movie had depth! The whole premise is “what is god and is there is one?” I LOVE that as someone who has a very complicated relationship with spirituality. I also already loved the TOS episodes This Side of Paradise, Return To Tomorrow, The Omega Glory and The Way To Eden, and this movie had the best of those concepts! Sybok was such a fascinating antagonist/anti-hero and I hope we get to see him explored more on screen one day, even if it’s just through Discovery/SNW flashbacks. It may have started off slow and it’s not without its flaws but this felt like the Star Trekkiest TOS Star Trek movie so far!

this has been on my mind for a while, i feel like at this point women mangaka are generally just better people than their male peers. id love to hear some manga ud recommend by women, or even counterpoints, but series like Dungeon Meshi and Full Metal Alchemist (among others) handle almost every concept way better and with more tact, from writing complex stories and compelling characters, to treating women like people and not literal naked rubber dolls colored in and posed like p*rn

you are so correct and right and speak the truth. female mangaka are superior. the only thing i’d say women don’t do inherently better is technical skill, there’s a ton of men who are very artistically talented, but arts such as drawing and music are sexless because they come from within and aren’t influenced by external factors such as upbringing and culture like storytelling is. everything else though is done better by women.

the problem with female mangaka is that they’re gatekept in the industry big time. if you google ‘top selling manga of all time’ and go to the wikipedia page, there’s only one woman (kimetsu no yaiba) and she’s hiding behind a male pen name just like arakawa hiromi did when fma was publishing. neither of these are a coincidence. women are generally discouraged from pursuing writing, and if they do so they’re supposed to be kept to female-catering genres such as shoujo, josei and BL, which are all much less mainstream, aka much less known and much less money making, than shounen. women having to go behind male-sounding pen names just so men don’t feel emasculated when consuming their stories has been a thing since forever across many different cultures. misogyny is universal.

however since i personally am more into grittier stuff and i love gratuitous violence and other Mature Themes i just naturally gravitate more towards manime with all its faults. my favorite genre overall is comedy though and women ARE much funnier and wittier and more clever. female mangaka also typically avoid drawing gore, which i guess is cultural but a shame.

i’m not a manga person, i prefer watching anime, so i compiled a list of my favorite anime based on manga written by women a while ago. i am VERY picky and nitpicky and very, very difficult to please so keep in mind that the list is not comprehensive in the slightest, it’s just things that i personally liked. there’s tons of non-shoujo stuff written by women that generally have a good reputation (ao no exorcist, gangsta, kuroshitsuji, noragami, d gray man, magi, xxxholic etc etc etc) that didn’t stand out to me at all so again, short as it may be the list isn’t comprehensive in the slightest, i’m sure that people who are more easily entertained than me could come up with much more names. anyway everything else is copy-pasted, i know you know of fmab but it needs to be included because fmab is my favorite series of all times:

anime based on manga created by female writers that is in fact not heterosexual shoujo/BL garbage and i liked (bc i saw a post talking about female mangakas and all of the examples were in fact heterosexual shoujo/BL garbage that i unfortunately do not like and my anime opinions are super important obviously):

fullmetal alchemist: brotherhood (adventure/action) any comments on why fmab is the best product the anime industry has ever put on the market that will not be outranked ever is tired at this point. fmab is a masterpiece through and through. most of the cast including the mcs is male tho, which is sad

saraiya goyou (historical/drama) if fmab didn’t exist it would have been the best title out there. the word masterpiece was invented solely to have a concept to describe it. the ost makes up about 40% of its greatness and was also written by a woman. too bad all the characters are also dudes

acca: 13ku kansatsuka (drama/political) not quite as good as saraiya goyou but from ono natsume as well. pleasant is the word to describe it. relaxing. most of the cast is male.

dorohedoro (horror/gore/comedy) the best title since like 2006. everything about it is great. i don’t have a single criticism and that’s rare. the cast is actually balanced and the Female Characters™ all 3 of them are like, written like people and are also queens

hachimitsu to clover (slice of life) saddest shit i’ve seen in my whole life in a colorful packaging. heterosexual as hell but not in an obnoxious way. cast seems diverse but it’s predominantly male

3gatsu no lion (drama) from the same great umino chica who is a master at writing uncomfortable truths and playing on emotions. she’s great truly, her character crafting is genuine but it gets under your skin, it’s filled with melancholy. 3gatsu is actually better than hachimitsu to clover but 1) i have history with the former so i like it better and 2) it was produced by shaft which is a sin in itself. they did a great job and all, i just hate the studio. has 3 speaking female characters in total but all 3 are great.

hoozuki no reitetsu (comedy) it’s hilarious it’s fresh it’s pretty it’s original it’s creative it’s clever. i love everything about it. the whole cast is male with like 2 exceptions and a rabbit (best girl).

saiunkoku monogatari (historical) i know it LOOKS like heterosexual shoujo garbage but it in fact isn’t. fits the reverse harem trope solely because everyone is in love with mc, but there’s next to no actual romance in it. unironically a feminist power fantasy. i’m still shooketh at how incredibly pleasant it turned out to be. the mc is a young girl but the rest of the cast is almost exclusively male.

arakawa under the bridge (comedy) surprisingly… by shaft again. maybe i am prejudiced. anyway, hilarious to a fault. is technically centered around a str8 romance but it’s not too invasive so whatever. cast is pretty balanced and the women are written smartly.

saint oniisan (comedy) THE funniest thing i’ve ever watched, or nearly. it’s just great. same author as above. cast exclusively male

doukyuusei (gay romance) which i refuse to categorize as BL simply because it’s not BL. it’s a good gay story, arguably the best one yet. cast is exclusively male but i mean lmao

gekkan shoujo nozaki-kun (comedy) straight to A FAULT but funny nevertheless. is, technically, heterosexual shoujo garbage. but SOME heterosexual shoujo garbage can stay i guess. cast is balanced, there’s still more male characters tho

gokusen (comedy/action) which i don’t remember much about except kumiko being best girl and me liking it. if i remember liking it it means it was good overall just not memorable. cast is exclusively male except mc.

kaleido star (sports) which is the ONLY good, or like decent, or like watchable sports anime, the rest don’t exist. not based on a manga but the writer is a woman which is strongly felt through and through. good story about perseverance and will and optimism and competition. cast is predominantly female and all of them are wonderfully written

michiko to hatchin (adventure) again no manga but main writer is the woman known for creating the skating BL people pretend isn’t BL. michiko to hatchin is way better than the skating BL, but i’m just a humble girl. tons of sexy sexy i could have lived without but otherwise good shit. cast predominantly female.

mushishi (mystery/fantasy) mushishi is just unique. it has similar vibes to saraiya goyou and natsume sure, but ultimately it’s one of its kind. it has what ghibli wants. again no criticism about it at all except that it’s SO chill that binging it is super tiring. cast is predominantly male but it has few reoccurring characters so who cares.

natsume yuujinchou (mystery/fantasy) again similar to mushishi but less grim. chill story, the definition of wholesome unproblematic etc whatever kids are into these days. cast predominantly male but not memorable in the slightest

petshop of horrors (horror) watched it a million years ago so don’t remember shit but i do remember liking it. cast is probably predominantly male

sakamoto desu ga (comedy) well THE actual funniest thing i’ve ever watched, it licherally had me in tears, i watched the new episodes like 3 times on the days they came out, including watching them on tv in real time at like 3 am or whenever it aired in shinya. just really really funny. cast predominantly male.

hi tumblr user daystens let’s talk about my random jeaneil hcs

neil gifts jean a pair of bright socks with cutesy cartoons on them as a joke but jean unironically loves them so neil buys him a shitload but just stuffs them in jeans drawer and never admits to buying them. they don’t talk abt it.

they actually do this a lot.. like. they will never admit it but taking care of each other quietly and without wanting for thanks is their love language. neil likes to cook for jean, he mealplans for them, leaves him baked gifts on the counter for jean to wake up to when neil has already left for class/work. jean likes to buy little trinkets and knick knacks for neil bc neil is at a place where having more things is grounding more so than anxiety inducing. it helps remind him that he takes up space in the world and that it’s okay. neil is particularly fond of 3D puzzles

i wanna think that in a world where they weren’t hurt quite as much and where touch doesn’t almost always hurt they like to wrestle. they are just dumb boys with stupid jock disease. it always starts out as like,, footsie or even just little shoulder nudges but neil can and WILL climb jean like a tree or attempt to suplex him. jean is too competitive for his own good, ESPECIALLY when neil is involved. it does not matter when or where. in jeans dorm? jeremy is terrified. in a restaurant? just another one they’re banned from. on the sidewalk? campus security knows them by name.

neil likes it when jean lays on top of him. the weight is just... nice and grounding. it works for jean too because after a long day he can always look forward to coming home and immediately flopping on top of neil, letting his muscles unclench one by one as neil strokes down his neck and back, carding fingers through his hair and tracing along his ears. jean likes the quiet rumble of neil’s chest as he hmms along to jeans rant about why his day was specifically terrible (in a post canon setting, jean relishes in being able to consider getting drenched from the rain, getting a B on a test he studied hard for, and rude, snappish people as a reason for his day to be terrible. it takes a while, and there’s days that even the thought of doing such makes him hate himself, but usually it’s just proof of freedom)

they are terrible at singing. TERRIBLE. THE BOTH OF THEM. but that doesn’t stop them from serenading each other in french, giggling all the while and holding each other close to sway to the song that they’re making up as they go

they have too many inside jokes. their texts are indecipherable.

chaotic. sometimes just the sight of them standing together gives kevin a headache.

they tune everyone’s opinion of them out. a common opinion is that neil is too mean, too blunt to jean, that jean lets neil get away with too much and is too flippant about everything in life. neil’s lack of sugar coating helps jean the most though, helps him see straight and come to the present when things get overwhelming. jean is organized but has recently started carrying a more casual air around him that reminds neil that if he takes a breath, if he takes a break, he isn’t going to die

jean has all of his keys painted. his closet is filled with bright clothes. his phonecase is layered in stickers. he likes color. neil is impartial to style but loves to steal jeans clothing, so they’re kind of walking disasters. jean is can kind of pull it off and knows a little about matching clothes together but neil just cannot be bothered. jean likes to dress him up whenever neil lets him, though.

they do a lot of crafts and are kinda bad at them but it’s stress relieving nonetheless and they proudly display everything throughout their apartment. their crocheted blankets are kinda lumpy and the colors aren’t perfect but they’re neils favorite. the kinda leaky mugs neil makes arent really usable but jean adores them anyways and uses them in any way possible (other than drinking from them). jean likes to paint things around the house just to make it brighter. neil knows jeans fondness for colorful things so whenever he sees something particularly bright and eye catching, he’ll buy it for their apartment. jeans favorite thing so far is a five inch tall multicolor and glittery walrus statue. it’s on their living room mantle. andrew despises their apartment and has only been in it once.

touch becomes really important between them. little touches, fingers brushing napes, intwined pinkies, ankles resting against each other, a nudge of a forehead against a shoulder. the bigger touches are important too. they make time each day, on good days when touch is good and doesn’t make their skin crawl, to just feel each other, whether it’s cuddling on the couch, jean giving neil a foot massage, or taking the time to wash each other in the shower and rub lotion into each other’s skin afterwords

erm idk if u can tell but i am feeling v soft for them rn :,) pls talk to me more about jeaneil... tell me if u want more angst or fluff i have many ideas about both

hi emily! sorry this took me so long to get to but i hope youre doing well too!!😊 my answer for this tends to shift a lot so this is just as of now

1) sawayama by rina sawayama- the range in this is SO good. just the way a song can seamlessly go from one sound to another (the metal parts of stfu are coming to mind especially rn) and all the music videos for these songs are great too which is a big plus for me...i love good music videos...anyways my favorite from this album is bad friend but xs and stfu are close seconds. no skip album for sure

2) older by george michael- okay this choice is kind of strange because i have a LOT more favorite songs on faith than in older but as a cohesive whole album older is a lot more impactful to me...legitimately could write a whole essay on how the whole thing is basically a message to george's dead lover that transitions from grieving through isolation (jesus to a child) to trying to ignore the pain by hooking up with strangers (fastlove) to being incredibly bitter at celebrity culture for interfering in his personal life (star people) to finally transforming that grief into love (you have been loved). oops this is long but like i said this album makes me soo so crazy because its SUCH a good depiction of how grief works. i love albums where you have to listen to each track in order to really get the full impact of the artist's message

3) my name is michael holbrook by mika- it used to be no place in heaven but this one is my favorite mika album now! my favorite from this has to be ready to call this love. also i love how so many of these songs are about love and and learning to love even after being hurt...like so many of his songs before this album were just about being sad and that was it. his songs are a lot more hopeful now and well we love that growth...we love to see it :') perfect album for just like...driving through a neon city at night i think.

4) pet sounds by the beach boys- god only knows AND wouldnt it be nice AND i just wasn't made for these times are all in this album so of course it has to make this list...i just unironically love a lot of beach boys music and i feel like people judge me for this but its okay my brain is just huge 😌 i just love the way so much of this is recorded, it's really creative. like the use of the theremin and even stuff like bicycle bells and a lot of other found objects...also i love the layered 60s falsetto alongside all of that

5) lost and found by jorja smith- dear lord this girl makes SO many sad songs hdhfkjhgjk BUT her voice is so so pretty and it just drags you into the story of the song. my favorites from this are the one and wandering romance, i love how like...vulnerable the lyrics sound and she's one of my favorite r&b artists. this album also has late night vibes i think but instead of being in a car youre just walking outside by yourself...introspective

But one time, one of my best friends said that he was never worried about introducing new people to our group if I was there because I was the person who best made outsiders feel welcome.

wow, way too many. but what first came to my mind rn (for some reason) was when we went to Rome with my parents when I was 12 during the winter holidays. it was snowing like crazy in France but I have this distinct memory of getting my coat off on a balcony at the top of a museum. And standing above Rome, feeling the sun on my skin, I felt so happy.
