Why I Really Like a Transfem Lord Hater Reading:

((in no particular order))

#1: Self Imposed Gender Roles/Suffering from Masculinity

Hater, of all the main characters, is the one Most obsessed with strict gender roles. Girls have to like this, boys have to be like that, yada yada. This is the opposite of Wander, the happiest character in the series, who doesn't give a fuck. Hater suffers from her own self-imposed role. She has to be "cool." She can't do "girly" things like being nice or whatever- And god forbid she likes playing with dolls. All of these things make Hater Pretty Stressed out and Miserable. She isn't happy with these things she calls masculine. Pretty interesting how in The Bad Hatter she's the one who likes the unicorn and the flowers, "girl things," and in the final episode, she receives flowers, too.

#2: The Funk + The Breakfast

She's not feeling it anymore. Doing all of this. Being "evil" and "manly" and "cool." There's a disconnect, and she holes herself up in her bedroom and wraps up in a blanket. That period of funk, that misery... It's the dissociative miasma of dysphoria. To Me. And the fact that Hater is almost always wearing a cloak that covers herself up, despite supposedly being proud of her "rockin bod?" Miserable in the morning especially in the shower? Yeah.... Plus, opening Space Tumblr first thing in the morning is transgender behavior.

#3: That One Scene in The Enemies

Why did she do that. Nobody asked her to do that. She just took the opportunity when she could.

#4: Dominator

Dominator is everything Hater is but Better. Everything Hater Wishes she could be. And isn't it interesting that she also happens to be a woman? The coolest person Hater could imagine, the "Greater Hater," is a girl. Hater's obsession with her, it's not just a crush, it Screams Gender Envy. She likes Dominator so much because that's her Ideal Person. That's fucking crazy guys.

#5: I Fucking Love Women!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not only does this even out the gender disparity with the main four, making it a nice even half n half, but I just like pathetic women. Like, I like Hater already, but isn't a childish egotistical loser incel Woman so much more interesting???? That's just my opinion, but it's a pretty good opinion.

I was looking through my copy of unicorn dysphoria again today and I didn’t really think about it when I first read it because I was just gushing about species dys/euphoria feelings but are all the pieces in that zine made with traditional media and then like… scanned? I know sometimes programs can mimic the look of paint/ink/other physical media but it didn’t seem like that to me? As someone who loves physical mediums that observation immediately got me PUMPED to make my own project

short answer: yes

long answer:

unicorn dysphoria was made in a fervor while trying to meet a deadline (my partner was tabling at a local zine fest, she said if i made a zine it could be on her table), my computer was shitting itself, and i was in the middle of moving 1000 miles away.

so i did all of the work traditionally in my sketchbook(s), took the best photos i could, and then did a crazy amount of color/lighting correction to make it look like i scanned it. as for specific materials/media, it's a mixed bag: copics, colored pencil, sharpies, graphite, assorted other pens/markers, basically anything i had easy access to.

i would def recommend getting your paws on a scanner to make your life easier, but otherwise i would totally say you should do this. the looseness of traditional media gives sequential work like zines and comics a really unique feel and its also really fun to have the original artwork to look through. usually when i do a big creative project there's no evidence of it by the end, but doing it on paper makes me going insane over a cartoon horse very tangible, like when you walk into a room and see some kind of destruction and you just know Something Happened Here

putting this post underwater not because I disagree with it but because I wanted to talk about my own comic and it felt self centered to go off in a reblog, and I couldn't fit it all into the tags lol

my comic Unicorn Hunted is about haelan being hunted and persecuted for being transgender. that's what it's about. BUT it's under the allegory of him being under a unicorn curse. he exists between two worlds, half man half unicorn, but he insists he is still human, he's still a man. some characters hate him because he's a man who killed a unicorn, (sorry but Gwendolyn is meant to represent a radfem) and some characters just fully see him as a unicorn and want to use him (misgendering and/or fetishizing). some characters are so intensely jealous of him that they lash out in violence. these are things I've experienced as a trans man. but I didn't want to make a fantasy story about a man experiencing run of the mill transphobia because I love magic and fantasy

I feel like for people to understand the hurt and the absurdity of transphobia, you might need to reframe it sometimes. readers might read about Gwen being enamored and worshipping of women to the point of violence against haelan and think "hell yeah girl power" but if i reframe it as her worshipping unicorns to the point of violence against haelan, readers instead correctly thought "oh my god, she's fucking crazy!"

I can more accurately portray how dysphoria feels to cis people when haelan is not dysphoric about his chest, his hips, but instead he has to worry about hiding a horn, a tail, long animal ears. these things make him stand out, they go against his very identity as a human, and he never knows who's able to see them and recognize what they mean.

and also I don't think fantasy stories need to have the same real world bigotries, because they're so arbitrary. there's no reason why a society needs to be transphobic, because it's all made up. I think transphobia does exist in unicorn hunted but to a lesser extent. haelan and sybil do hide the fact that they're both trans but its more because they just want to be recognized for who they are, not because they fear backlash. and transphobia is so easy to mark a villain. you make any character say "ugh, you're really a woman?!" and you instantly know that character is a jackass

who’s far past his prime as a man, too much hair too many wrinkles too much fat. but the tight corsets and glitter are something of an escape for him. hip pads that seem to grow larger every few months, makeup that piles up in cost and seems to deplete quicker and quicker every purchase.

it comes to a head when price is helping him get ready, and nik is begging him to thread it tighter and price just refuses. says he doesn’t want to hurt the other man, and nik lashes out. ‘how could you betray me, this is all i want, im not a child.’

‘i know what im doing’.

but he doesn’t, not really, and price knows this. he’s seen the way nik’s been struggling, struggling massively. he can’t facilitate that any longer.

But Nik is only human after all. He still gets affected by the passing comment of a lady over his weight, still sometimes stands in front of the mirror and feel shame over the soft pudgy belly that has grown over layers of muscles.

He's only a person.

He likes dressing up and dolling himself up with make up. He likes how the contour hides the wrinkles on his face, how the hip and chest pads hide his belly, how the corset restrains his stomach, even though he can't breathe on some nights.

He likes the attention he gets on stage when he looks 10 years younger, instead of the unassuming man smoking behind the bars alley. And it's not like money is a problem for him, he could retire at any moment now and still ride off into the sunset on a unicorn. They do say money could sometimes buy happiness, so could you blame him if he doesn't look at the numbers on the card reader before beeping his card?

But in all the variables he had accounted for, he had never accounted for Price to be here. He hadn't expected to actually grow old with the man of his dreams, much less hold him close on nights where the stars dimmed out.

So when Price refuses to pull his corset ever tighter, tight enough that he doesn't look into the mirror and feel pretty, you couldn't really blame him for the surge of anger and slight accusation that rises up in him.

He doesn't understand, why wouldn't Price want him to feel pretty? He deliberately hadn't eaten in a day just so he could pull the corset tighter? It feels like betrayal when the man steps back and leaves him hanging.

It feels worse when he sees the reflection of Price disapproving stare in the reflection of his mirror.

The fight dies down in him, just ever so slightly. And he wordlessly allows Price to end it there.

That night, he couldn't help but feel like a thousand pairs of eyes were judging him on stage, pointing out the leftover sponginess that Price had refused for him to hide.

Nevermind that the crowd seemed wilder than usual, and the tip jar was practically overflowing, and that he could actually normally breathe for once, but the thought that he was undesirable ate at him in the back of his mind.

He avoids Price when he walks backstage, his mind blaming him for not letting him fulfill his wishes.

The next morning, Nik couldn't help but felt stared at whenever he was eating, baby blues staring at him, grunting occasionally in disapproval when the man began to starve himself.

Hands seem to grip at him a little more than usual now too. Price's hands lovingly rubbing over the soft fat covering his stomach the next time they had sex, kisses trailing down over the hidden muscles.

A reminder that the man still finds him pretty, even after all these years

It wasn't like Price had any of what to do. It pains him to see Nik starve himself just to fit into that one corset 2 times too small. It's not like he could help the man when he sees Nik standing in front of the mirror, hands pinching the soft fat surrounding his abs with a frown. He hands trailing up and down those scars they had gained together, Nik mumbling in russian as he contemplates how long it would take for them to fully heal.

It pains Price in ways when Nik lashes out at him for not enabling his toxic behaviour. How the man seemed disgusted with the idea of his body when he was on stage. How Nik had rejected him after he ran off to his room.

He couldn't do much to help, except to trace over the soft pudginess of Nik's stomach, and to kiss those soft thighs before teasing the man. Maybe trace those scars in nights where he holds him against his chest.

Price would rather run his fingers over Nik's wrinkled face when they grow old together than allow the man to hurt himself with food.

in nezzypezzy's equestria, the term trans refers to gender AND pony type.. and describes an umbrella of ponies who identify as something their body does not reflect! obviously ..

i imagine custom made muzzle shapes that make a fem muzzle into a masc one- and maybe a voice change spell from a special unicorn thatll grant a permanent voice change ! also spells that hide horns, disabling magic temporarily, fake wings and horns color matched to an individual, and all kinds of little magic-less ways of alleviating dysphoria <3 (i like the pegasus using baskets to hide wings one its cute )

I'm new to the therian community! I'm still learning all the terms, but I have basically always known that I am a dragon. I do experience species dysphoria (as well as gender dysphoria). I personally know that my physical body is a human. I am still not quite sure where my identity as a dragon fits in, I'm still learning! My other, lesser theriotypes:

I’ve really appreciated your kink tutorials, they are very clear and not judgemental! I was wondering if you had advice for new doms? I came to the realization that I’m not happy being a sub all the time, and have been trying to explore that, but I feel a little lost. I know a lot of subs want someone with more experience than me- which is totally fair! That’s a lot to trust someone with! But it feels a bit like trying to get a job in a field I’ve never worked in, y’know? I’ve searched out some tutorials, practiced some things that I can with my dom’s help, and thought a lot about what I’ve experienced and liked as a sub,  but it doesn’t feel quite enough. The few people that have been interested in exploring with me have not had strong enough boundaries for me to feel comfortable playing with them (“I’m into whatever you want”, etc). I’m sure there’s places in my city with a less straight scene, but the few attempts I’ve made to join irl events I was singled out as one of the few people there who was trans (trans man), and people who where interested in talking to me made it clear they were fascinated by my transness first and foremost. (Also my bottom dysphoria makes it difficult for me to top or bottom, which bdsm is great for! Lots of people have fun without penetration! But I still feel a lot of pressure to be one or the other instead of neither with an asterisk for very specific situations) Thank you for reading and any advice you feel like giving is appreciated!

I'm not gonna go I to anything about bottom dysphoria or trans issues, there are plenty of people who write about those things but it's just not my area of expertise

but yeah I can give some advice for new dominants

I think the first thing I have to say is you can find all my thoughts on dominance and kink under the tag #dear void and my guides in my pinned, I think that's a great place to start. I know that's a little bit egotistical of me but in my defence all of my writing is incredible, I might be the greatest bdsm education communicator ever

Second, a willingness to learn is infinitely more valuable than experience, I'd put my friends and loved ones into the hands of an inexperienced dominant who is willing to grow and learn over an experienced dominant who isn't every time

Third, you're probably not gonna find a unicorn, an experienced submissive who's willing to give an untested dominant a chance? Rare. So maybe you're gonna have to find someone to learn with. "I'm into whatever you want" is a classic, but it generally means "I don't know what I'm into but I'm scared to admit that because it means you have to help me figure it out". But that's not necessarily a problem if you're willing to help, which you should be.

So, fourth, start slow. Be willing to start a kink at the lowest entry point, it's OK to be in the kiddy pool if you can't swim yet. Be dominant towards them during entirely vanilla sex, slowly introduce things like hand cuffs made of paper and staples or spanking with just your hand. They'll learn their boundaries and you'll get hands on experience

Mostly what I have to say is be confident and be willing to try, you'll be just fine

More G1 infection lore

GeluAteKurama over on DA had some questions and I figured I'd post the answers here too:

what will happen to ponies like Pinkie that G1 counterparts had wings or horns??

I'm still undecided on what will happen to pinkie but for now I imagine phantom pain. Her brain tells her there should be wings and there aren't wings = pain. It will be like chronic pain. I'm not sure if I should move a little bit into body horror in that case but I'd rather not. Maybe more feathers are triggered in her coat.

If the pony is a unicorn but their G1 self is a pegasus would they lose their magic and grow wings or just lose magic and be confused as to why they can't fly??

In case of someone being an Unicorn but G1 being a Pegasus, yes, the magic would at least dim to a certain way. The g1 pony wouldn't know how to use the Unicorn magic and might actually have body dysphoria along the way too.

And what about the ponys that don't have a G1 counterparts but do maybe have a G2 or G3, would they turn on one of those ones??

A very good question. I'm not very well versed on anyone outside of the main 6 and the princesses so I'd be curious to know who got inspired by who. The possibilities it would open up!

And the ponys who are completely original to G4, would those be immune to the infection or get some different symptoms??

And yes, those original to G4 are immune to it. They are completely safe and sound. What would be interesting thought, about ponies with similar inspiration. Like Twilights mom who has a coat inspired by G1 Twilight. Mhhhh
