Princess Hours
Tumblr media
This drama was super quick to get through. 🌟🌟 ½ of 5.
I had watched the Korean version as my first drama so I was excited when I found out that there was a Thai version.
This was interesting to watch because it the dynamics were somewhat changed. In the original version the princess was always trying to be there for the prince and she was the first to fall for him and realize her feelings. This was different because the prince was the one who fell first.
One thing I really disliked about this drama was that when the prince wanted the princess to go away or to make her uncomfortable he would make “playful” flirty advances. Things like holding her under him, getting really close to her face as if he was going  to kiss her. Those scenes just made me uncomfortable whenever I saw them.
This drama wasn’t terrible but the fact is I kept thinking about the Korean ver. and wanting to watch that one. I feel like because this drama was so short compared to the original we missed out on some of the little details that made the show so great.

True Pairing Tuesday:
Have to admit, my OTP on this show so far is Kwan and Mhog. Especially that scene where he's teaching her to take photos.
Also that scene at the mall where Sprite tells Kwan that everyone knows he likes her. I swear if Win's return ruins everything for them I'm going to be so mad.

Yay, welcome to the new blog and format for our favorite things on Asian TV. To kick things off we wanted to say sorry for the long hiatus that you all didn't know about, but it was needed to get this blog set up and ready to roll. Now on to the post!
Our first show to kick off the new blog (technically second) and format is the new Thai remake of Princess Hours (Goong/Palace). This show came out in the summer of 2017 and ran for a total of 20 (vs the 24 for the oringinal show) episodes roughly about 50 minutes each episode.
youtube
Now, most of you should remember the fan favorite 2006 Korean drama Goong (based off the Korean manhwa (manga) Goong by Park So-hee) staring Yoon Eun-hye, Ju Ji-hoon, Kim Jeong-hoon and Song Ji-hyo. About a common girl becoming suddenly betrothed to the Crown Prince through a promise made by the Prince's grandfather in an agreement with the girl's grandfather. The Prince's new wife is headstrong yet loveable and despite initially feeling nothing for each other, love eventually blossoms between the couple despite the ongoing problems that arise with the Prince's cousin and aunt and the girl he originally proposed to.
Now we have a Thai remake that is just as sweet at the original. Here we have Ungsumalynn Sirapatsakmetha as the common girl and Sattaphong Phiangphoras as the Crown Prince.
Tumblr media
Now we can get technical and say that this has no way near as much appeal as the the original series, the music doesn't fit the mood (I really couldn't stand it to be honest) and for a time the actors/actress could be better, but let us also point out that this is a Thailand remake that was made to fit their country's tastes. So we are taking that out of the equation all together and sticking with what we saw and that was a sweet budding love story with all the jealousy and twists to go with it. And it follows the original very closely, but with it's own twists to make it it's own.
Overall, I would say give it a chance cause it won't disappoint and keep an open mind, it took a while for me to not cringe at some parts, but the romantic scenes will make your heart beat faster just like the original.
We give it 3.5 out of 5 stars.

PTT Launched 'Double Joy at Less Visited Areas'
Tumblr media
Traveling has become the trend during the past years and people have been craving for new and unique destinations to explore. Thailand Authority of Tourism (TAT) signs an MOU with PTT Oil and Retail Business Public Company Limited (PTTOR) and joins forces to announce a new campaign called “Double Joy at Less Visited Areas with PTT Blue Card.” The campaign aims to encourage Thai people to explore the beautiful culture and nature at less visited areas by giving a special points redemption programme for PTT Blue Card members to get special discounts for accommodation, fuel, and food. The campaign also announces Pattie Ungsumalynn as the presenter for the programme. Yuthasak Supasorn, Governor for Tourism Authority of Thailand, reveals that “TAT has been promoting tourism in less visited areas in Thailand. To further generate revenue and distribute income in local communities. In 2018, there were over 83.66 +4.89% visitors at less visited areas, grossing over THB 230,998.17 million +9.35%. This campaign is planned to become the prime drive for tourism business at those areas by offering special travelling experiences such as exclusive local adventures or cultural immersion programmes to bring back nostalgic sentiments to Thai people.” Jiraphon Kawswat, President and Chief Executive Officer of PTTOR, says “We are proud to say that PTT Blue Card which has over 4.5 million members nationwide and our ‘Double Joy at Less Visited Areas with PTT Blue card’ campaign are going to serve as the driveforce for tourism and economy at the 24 less visited provinces in Thailand. Which includes Chiang Rai, Petchaburi, Mae Hong Son, Prae, Sukhothai, Lampang, Nan, Samut Songkhram, Ratchaburi, Lopburi, Suphanburi, Ubon Ratchathani, Udon Thani, Nakhon Phanom, Loei, Buriram, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Trang, Chumphon, Ranong, Satun, Trat, Chanthaburi, and Nakhon Nayok. With the increasing interest in less visited areas, more travelers are expected to choose those areas as their main destination venues. Each province posesses unique culture, arts, and precious wisdom that are worth reserving for the future generation to uncover. PTT Blue Card, as part of the encouragement of this tourism, will be giving out special privileges to members who use their cards at over 1,000 stores such as PTT Station, Café Amazon, Jiffy, Hua Seng Hong Dim Sum, and FIT Auto in the less visited areas. Members will enjoy shopping and collecting double points from 1 July 2019 – 25 August 2019. PTTOR also surprises customers with a special promotion. On 1 July onwards, people can redeem their privilege on PTT Blue Card Mobile Application to get a special price at over 500 accommodations in less visited areas.” Pattie Ungsumalynn Sirapatsakmetha, the presenter of this campaign, reveals “As someone who loves travelling and has her own travelling show, I am very proud to say that travelling opens up our perspectives on life and teaches us to think outside of the box. Travelling to less visited areas are one of the most unique experiences any travelers can find. Experiencing the charm and beauty of these places make me realize that there are so much more in Thailand to explore. This is why I decided to become the voice of this campaign to recommend everybody to explore these wonderful places together, while also enjoying special privileges from PTT Blue Card.” Explore the charm of the gorgeous less visited areas in Thailand now with PTT Blue Card and enjoy collecting double points during your trip.
