Stylized, but overall similar to the Nine Spotted Lady Beetle Coccinella novemnotata and the Seven Spotted Lady Beetle Coccinella septempunctata.

The pattern of wing spots is similar to C. novemnotata, but missing the single spot at the joint of the wings that would bring it to 9 spots.

The pronotum hat has the two white rectangular patches of C. septempunctata, while C. novemnotata would have a "bridge" stripe between the two patches.

The costume includes a four-leaf clover symbolizing luck. Seven Spot ladybugs are usually the ones associated with luck imagery, but in real life you're probably luckier if you find the highly endangered Nine Spot.

Cycloneda sanguinea

Spotless lady beetle

Stylized, closest match for inside of spoons. The two white "eye" dots match up with the white spots on C. sanguinea's pronotum. I also considered Cycloneda emarginata, as the white dots are more oval than circular, but C. emarginata's pronotum dots tend to converge toward the head rather than be parallel. Either way, a true Cycloneda would also have a white margin around the edge of the pronotum.

Back of spoons, closest match: Coccinella novemnotata, nine-spotted lady beetle. Could also be a Harmonia axyridis with an eight-spot pattern, though those are usually clustered in the front half of the wings.

Timer, closest match: Left side resembles Coccinella septempunctata with an extra couple dark spots from wing damage during the pupal stage. Right side again could be Coccinella novemnotata. But with the all-black head, neither is likely. In general for patterns as variable as this, I would go with Harmonia axyridis and call it a day.

“Thank you for taking care of Harry for us,” Regulus breathes, settling down on the bed, “We normally would’ve given him to Lily and Mary for the weekend, but they’re still in France with Luna.” 

Sirius grins at his younger brother, “It’s no problem, I know that you and James have been wanting to go on a date for a while. And you know that we love him.” 

“So what are you guys planning?” Regulus asks his brother, fighting to keep his eyes closed while Sirius daps some glitter onto his eyelids. 

Sirius hums, “Remus and I were planning on going out and buying gifts, so we figure that we’ll take him with us and get some stuff for you and James and for Lily and Mary from him.” 

Regulus nods, “Sounds good. We’ll try not to be back too late.” 

“You really don’t have to worry, Reg.” Sirius shakes his head, even if his brother can’t see it, “You know that Remus and I love Harry, we can take care of him, we can put him to bed tonight. You guys go out and do what you need to, have a night for yourself.”

Regulus laughs softly, “I know that it’s been forever since we started dating, but you’re acting so differently than you used to when talking about me and James.” 

“I simply saw the way that you guys make each other happy.” Sirius hums, “You can open your eyes, tell me how much eyeliner you want.” Regulus does so and the two figure out how extreme Sirius should go before he’s sitting back on the bed and letting Sirius work his magic, “Also, I think it’s really cute that you two still get ready in different rooms.” Regulus smiles softly, and he doesn’t even try to hide it since he knows that Sirius can see it no matter what. 

He shrugs with one shoulder, “They like to be surprised.” 

Sirius laughs and finishes up with his eyeliner not long after, pushing at his brother’s shoulder, “Go have a wonderful night.” They go into the en suite bathroom to put the makeup where he found it while Regulus finishes up by putting on some rings, the brothers leaving the room together. 

James is waiting downstairs for them, Remus sitting on the couch chair with Harry on his lap telling him a very babbl-y story and gesticulating wildly. James tears their gaze from the sweet scene to see Regulus and Sirius when they hear the two walk in. Immediately upon seeing their husband, they stand and pull him into a lovely kiss, not letting it linger too long since they have company. 

They link their arm with Regulus’, “Are you ready to go, my love?” Regulus nods so they turn to the other three, “We’re headed out then, you three have a fun day.” 

Remus hums, “You have a good night as well.” And with that, James is guiding their husband to the entryway so they can don their coats and shoes and head out of the house with one more called goodbye. 

Sirius turns to the young boy as soon as he hears the car leaving the driveway, “Now, do you know what you want to get for your parents?” 

Harry turns to meet Sirius’ eyes and goes about as serious as a young child like Harry can, nodding once.

1 - Cycloneda munda, polished lady beetle aka immaculate lady beetle

Ruled out the almost identical species Cycloneda polita, western polished lady beetle aka western blood-red lady beetle, based on OP's location in Texas.

2 - Cycloneda sanguinea, spotless lady beetle

C. munda and C. polita, and in fact the whole Cycloneda genus, are also collectively known as Spotless Lady Beetles. There are also plenty of species in other genuses that are spotless or have spotless forms. But only C. sanguinea is known as THE spotless lady beetle. Aren't common names fun?

3 - larva, possibly Coccinella septempunctata, seven spotted lady beetle

Though full disclosure, I'm almost never certain on larvae!

Feb 18, 2017. Some friends I found while mowing the lawn. Top three are lady beetles (third one is a larva). 4th is a checkered garter snake, last two are a male Acanthocephala femorata (a leaf-footed bug). Leaf-footed bugs are some of my favorites! So large!

Flowers are blooming, butterflies are back. Mid February is apparently spring now.

Sorry for not being as active as I used to be y'all, I haven't been on here because I've been pouring most of my focus into finishing a backlog of commissions and it has unfortunately left me with no energy to interact and socialize here lol

For the past week alone I've been working on this BEAST of a comm, and both me and my setup had a bit of a technical difficulty with just how BIG this specific commission was, in terms of details and quite literally file size too (this was originally a 5000x3000 piece, which caused a lot of black screens and me waiting for my PC to catch up everytime a 15-minute autosave was happening)

I feel like me suddenly being inactive was a necessary thing as well because as much as I don't want to admit it, my socials have been a bit... distracting... in this pursuit, and I am realizing a very concerning problem. And as such, I had to cut off and limit the amount of times I will be present here in an effort to exert self-control and instill discipline on myself.

I do not have anything new to show unfortunately, and may continue to NOT be able to show anything Digital Circus AU or fandom content at all, so all I can say is I'm sorry is this post is disappointing news because you followed me for that kinda thing.

Also I got a tooth infection(?) and a pink eye lol, how fun /s (don't worry though, I'm still fine and not really in a painful situation, just a minor inconvenience)

My brain has now concocted a scenario for a fic

So you remember that one time I said you could give megop a Terran kid? Basically the scenario here is that the whole creation scenario happens (with both Optimus and Megatron conveniently touching the Emberstone shard, I assume to catch it), and now the duo have to go home and try to figure out to do with this new Terran

Problem is, due to whatever fight they were having right before this, and due to EMP blasts or whatever, they conveniently can’t transform or comm their teammates, and also with this protoform here, so they pretty much have to get back to base on their own on foot. And they’re a ways away right now, so it’ll take a while

So the premise is basically the pair on a roadtrip back home while having to deal with this new kid they accidentally made

Unlike other times I say a fic premise, I might actually write this one, since it involves a character my brain has semi made up. I mean if anyone else wants to take it, sure, but I also want to do it. Maybe not right now though, since I don’t have nearly any of the details down

Also I have a short story due by midnight and I don’t even have a premise yet. No I can’t use this, I was pushing it already last week with my other robot (ish) characters

All I really have is that the Terran kid is really big (around the same size or bigger than Optimus and Megatron), and also really strong, not knowing their own strength. Have no clue what to have their alt mode be though, other than presumably something befitting their size

Oh and also the fic would end with the two pretty much adopting the kid as their own, since the trio has basically grown too attached to each other and don’t want to leave (even if the Maltos aren’t that far away)
