Explaining Sans AUs to someone outside of the fandom is so funny because it's like:

Classic, Dust, Killer, Sci, S-1, Geno, Horror, and more are all the same person technically just from different timelines.

Geno turned into Error so he is technically also all of those people from a different timeline.

Error came across Geno, an alternate version of the guy who turned into Error, and tried to destroy him, creating Fatal Error. This means an alternate timeline of Aftertale tried to destroy Aftertale, leading to the creation of an alternate timeline of Aftertale.

Swap, Fell, Outer, Storyshift Sans, Altertale Sans, and a bunch of others aren't Sans, as in, they are not any variation of the original Sans but are the "Sans" of their respective universes.

All of the characters I just mentioned have AUs and ATs of themselves, leading to there being distinctions between the different versions of THOSE Sanses.

Ink, Cross, and others I can't think of do technically fit the bill of the previous categories minus the fact that the universes they are the "Sans" of cannot exist on it's lonesome and requires direct contact with the fandom (Creators) and the multiverse to exist.

Dream, Nightmare, Fresh, any and all "Sanses" that only resemble Classic in appearance? Yeah, they're not Sanses. I mean, we call them Sanses but they're not. Dream and Nightmare are literally just balls of energy contained within forms that only resemble Sanses due to their mother needing to make them that way. And Fresh is just a soul-eating parasite that takes Skeleton monsters as hosts because they have easy access points. Any "Sans" that's meant to just resemble a character concept the creator had and just so happened to call it a Undertale AU? Those fit the bill too.

And for the love of GOD don't get me started on the concept of shipkids and fusions and all that nonsense because once I'm done explaining everything prior to you you're already going to be having a stroke, and I don't need to pile the selfcest on there too.

Tentative rip name: Megalo Switch Back

Undertale celebrated its 9th birthday earlier this month, and as you might've guessed I immediately went to thinking if I ought to celebrate that occasion in some way or another. I mean, yeah, the blog has a dire case of Too-Much-Undertale-itus with Locked In The Underground, Determination is Magic, World Out There - hell, Do for LOVE was just three posts ago - but as I've explained many times I find Undertale's impact on SiIvaGunner is plainly too big to be overlooked. Yet I wanted to find some new way to discuss Toby Fox's work, more than just a good Undertale rip: and right as I was pondering that very topic, the SiIvaGunner channel dropped "P-Switch (OST Version) - New Super Mario Bros." into my sub-box. I'm not quite sure what so expect, a pretty standard runtime attached to what's otherwise a pretty one-note jingle from the New Super Mario Bros series - yet mere moments into the rip, I knew P-Switch Back was an instant classic, and EXACTLY what I was looking for.

AdamCrossing is a pretty unique case as a ripper in that my first exposure to him came from seeing his work spread on Twitter, as the guy has a knack for knowing exactly what kind of audio edits and arrangements are able to get a kick out of people. A lot of his work such as his self-produced fusion collab, his arrangement of the New Super Mario Bros. Wii plains theme or the inverse of the same joke hit a lot of similar beats - the main one, of course, being the reoccurring fixation on the New Super Mario Bros. series of games. And maybe this is me speaking as a fellow Wii-generation kid, but I think that fixation matches perfectly with the SiIvaGunner MO, of both catching you off guard and providing something genuniely delightful: And so, as the aforementioned examples show, AdamCrossing's fantastic ear for quality and deep understanding of the New Super Mario Bros series' sound and sample usage leads to rips that know exactly how to strike the funny bone just right due to the sheer contrast in music featured in them: With New Super Mario Bros. as perhaps the most tonally cheerful thing outside of the Kirby series, just about anything from a more grim series mixed together with it is bound to result in something very interesting to listen to. Put succinctly, it's the appeal of If Pazuzu Sneezes Do You Still Say Bless You? applied to the New Super Mario Bros. series.

P-Switch Back is impressive even beyond many of AdamCrossing's other work, however, due to the factor mentioned at the start of this post: P-Switch is less of a "track" in the New Super Mario Bros. soundtrack and more like a glorified jingle, a timer enforcing stress with a tense synthetic melody of noise and a repeating backing of a sound that's best described as "crunchy", rounding itself out through a Shepard tone repeating until the P-Switch timer ends. And so we have a lead and we technically have a backing - but how does one compose an entire rearrangement with just those confines? The solution is, of course, to "cheat": much like Nape Mango did way back on Earth, Wind & Bombs and as dozens of rippers have done since, the trick is to employ usage of other instruments, samples and segments from the same soundtrack as the source track, whilst keeping the source track as the rip's focal point. Through this, every turn that P-Switch Back makes still resoundingly sounds just like the original New Super Mario Bros. on DS, whilst ALSO always sounding exactly the way that the P-Switch theme ought to. The blend was so good that, upon my first listen, I was halfway convinced that they'd changed the P-Switch theme for some of the later New Super Mario Bros. games, due just to how "New Super Mario Bros. DS" P-Switch Back sounds. It approaches Jamangar levels of authenticity in variety within a rip, the kind I gushed oh so much about back on Story of Undertale: yet here, the core P-Switch melody never quite fades away.

Though I talked a lot about contrast betwixt the New Super Mario Bros. series' tone and whatever else may be mashed up with it, the P-Switch theme in particular is able to resonate more closely with the track being arranged through its prominent tension-building - the repeating synthetic notes being a natural fit for the eerie tension-building intro to Megalo Strike Back. For those unaware, a few years before Undertale's release, Toby Fox contributed the aforementioned track to an EarthBound tribute album, the track itself being arranged entirely using EarthBound's soundfont. It's seen, in a sense, as a stepping stone to what would eventually become Undertale's finalized Megalovania theme - an original composition sharing much the same intensity as that of an A-Class final boss theme. Through its rearranging in P-Switch Back, AdamCrossing employs all the tools within New Super Mario Bros.'s toolbox of sounds to preserve that menacing sound: The lead and backing instruments from the game's Castle theme, notably, take center stage and create a suitably dramatic atmosphere through their slight reverb: An atmosphere that's deliciously (and hilariously) enhanced through the NSMB series' iconic "bah-bahs", now feeling almost akin to the chants of a choir of followers.

The entire rip just OOZES the feeling of the original Nintendo DS in a way that's hard to quite put into words, yet immediately recognizable as soon as you hear it. Yet althewhile, as it runs wild with this dramatic boss theme, the crackling backing instrument of the original P-Switch theme lingers throughout, alongside occasional breaks to add the P-Switch theme's main instrument to the mix. Like lots of what Season 8 has presented already in the likes of Barreltr​ü​ckung of Doom and Luna, Mi Amor, P-Switch Back is an incredibly inspired and inventive rip, leveraging a source so seemingly minescule in material in a way that feels completely natural whilst technically not at all adhering to the premise the rip's title would include. As a fellow Wii kid and enjoyer of specifically these kinds of incredibly arrangement rips, AdamCrossing has my deepest regards - and if he continues on this path of quality, he's bound to become an all-time favorite in the future.

DCA! Spring Bonnie: She assists Sun & Moon in the daycare, doing all she can to help them out. But she’s unfortunately got a little secret.

Volatile Sans: He’s a variant of Dust who’s pretty unpredictable at times and kills just for EXP. Only problem is that he can’t kill Papyrus’s…he’s tried many times and can’t do it

Callisto: Callisto is a version of Sun who lost her Moon to Vanny because their Moon was digging too much and got caught. So Callisto enacts her revenge for her partner but ends up getting trapped in a pit full of Disassemble Bots and had fought her way out.

(Newer) Camomile the Medic Sun: As the name implies Camomile is a repurposed Sun model who programmed to tend to humans and sometimes animatronics. She’s very grumpy but she cares.

(Newest) Rune: Rune is another Transformers OC inspired off of a TSAMS character, they happen to be inspired off Ruin.

My take on a Undertale & Deltarune fusion AU/a "Deltarune is a sequel to Undertale" AU. (No clue what to exactly call it but I'm gonna tag any posts relating to it with UT/DR Fusion AU).

Any fan content I make for this AU will probably focus on the events that occur between Undertale and Deltarune. And of course, this AU is (obviously) headcanon heavy.

Random details about the AU (part 1) ->

•Frisk and Kris are two separate humans & both are the adopted children of Toriel. Flowey is still Flowey. –Frisk is in twelfth grade and Kris is in eleventh grade by the time Chapter 1 of Deltarune happens.

•Frisk was eight when they fell into the Underground.

•By the time DR Chapter 1 roles around, Frisk technically takes the role of DR!Asriel. But instead being away at college, Frisk is just on a week long trip doing Human Ambassador stuff during DR Chapter 1, 2, and 3. –Chapter 1 & 2 happen as normal (on a Thursday and Friday), but Kris opens the Chapter 3 Dark Fountain on a Saturday night instead of a Friday night.

•The exact trait of the Red SOUL is unknown, most common theorized traits are: Determination, Love, Compassion, and Freedom. Regardless of the trait, many hold the belief that those with a Red SOUL have been directly blessed by a Heavenly Being.

•The Legend of Delta Rune has been around since before Asgore’s grandparents was born, but the Lightners that had heard the entirety of the Legend are either dead or scattered across time and space. –Lightners was once aware of the existence of Darkners and the two worlds used commonly communicate with each other. However, as tension between the humans and monsters rose, the more Darkners got pushed to the side. Eventually the existence of Darkners and the Dark Worlds were forgotten. –Darkners/Dark Worlds were completely forgotten about by the Asgore became king.

•Frisk can SAVE/LOAD/RESET in the Light World but cannot in the Dark World while Kris can SAVE/LOAD/RESET in the Dark World but cannot in the Light World. Frisk temporarily loses the ability to SAVE/LOAD/RESET in the Light World whenever Kris in the Dark World. –All Darkners can see Kris’s SAVE Point, but the only ones that can see Frisk’s SAVE Point are Flowey, and Chara.

•Order of Frisk’s resets: A handful of Neutral Runs (Undyne Ending w/ Papyrus Alive -> Exiled Queen w/ Papyrus Dead -> Alphys Ending) -> Genocide -> True Pacifist (technically Soulless Pacifist)

•Order of the fallen humans: Chara -> Patience -> Bravery -> Kindness -> Kindness -> Perseverance -> Integrity -> Justice -> Frisk.

•There’s two Anomalies. Frisk’s Anomaly (F-Anomaly) and Kris’s Anomaly (K-Anomaly). –F-Anomaly didn’t have any control only Frisk, it silently guided Frisk on their journey through the Underground and kept them on the necessary path. F-Anomaly happened upon the world naturally. –K-Anomaly has complete control over Kris, but only when there is a Dark Fountain open + a several hours after it’s been closed. K-Anomaly was introduced to the world through Gaster.

•Chara's a ghost and they follows Frisk around. Only Frisk and Flowey can see them. But there's a chance they become visible to Kris whenever they rip their SOUL out. –Actually, all of the Fallen Humans became ghosts post-barrier breakage. And Frisk & Flowey are the only ones that can see them (+sometimes Kris whenever they rip their SOUL out). But the ghosts become do come visible to everyone while in a Dark World.

•The Bunker led to Gaster's old, pre-Underground Laboratory.

•Dess got scattered and now exists in a void-type space called The Depths with Gaster and the Vessel. –Dess became scattered while exploring the Laboratory section of the Bunker with Noelle and Kris. –The "Will now be Discarded. No one can choose who they are in this world." text of the Goner Creator is Dess speaking. –While the Goners attached to Gaster are his followers. The Goners attached to Dess aren't people, but instead the belongings she had on her when she scattered (her guitar, baseball cap, various music sheets, a flashlight, and, most interestingly, a video camera).

•Susie has an older sister (who I might name Julie) and a bunch of younger siblings. She lives in a small apartment with them and her father. Her mother is no longer in the picture. –Susie never once stepped foot in Hometown prior to moving there. Not even during the first year after the barrier broke. She moved to Hometown the summer between her tenth grade and eleventh grade year. –Due to not paying attention to the Royal Family while living in the Underground and the surface school Susie went to before moving to Hometown not teaching about Monster History for a longest time; Susie managed to get by without not realizing that Alphys was the Royal Scientist and Toriel was the queen.

•Possible order of Dark Fountains: Card Castle -> Cyber World -> TV Dark World (w/ Toriel and Undyne) -> Café Dark World (w/ Catti and Jockington) -> Church Dark World (w/ MK and Chara) -> Flower King Dark World (w/ Asgore and Susie's older sister).

MASSIVE INFODUMP ABOUT THE CQ TRIO (Fresh, Geno, and Error) UNDER THE CUT!

i love them sm (some stuff might be wrong this is all from memory)

okay so the cq trio is 3 sanses that i adore to the maxium. CQ stands for Crayon Queen, who was the one who created all three! cq trio gets its nickname mainly from her, but i also call them that because of a fancomic called mcq (momma cq) that had them all as brothers, since they are all from the same creator. Fresh was the first to be made iirc, and he was created as a random one on a stream cq did. His nickname is also 90s piece of trash! He is not technically a sans, just a parasite that possesses other monsters, though it prefers skeletons bcs he can crawl thru their sockets, so they are easier to posses (this also allows for so many fusions of fresh and others, like fresh ink! who i hate (lovingly). Geno n error are the other 2, and are entirely linked. Geno was a classic sans who went through a ton of genocide runs, and in tryinf to stop them injected himself with determination ( which is. very bad for monsters.) he basically starts melting and gets killed again but. is able to use a save star to enter the save screen. freezing him in time so hes stuck between dying and not. He has an entire comic (search up aftertale if u wanna read ut which i highly recommend i love it sm) but he basically has 3 main outcomes; the common one in fanon but also in canon ending, where hes stuck in the save screen forever, the good ending which is the comics canon end, where he escapes the savescreen without dying and gets to live on the surface eith the rest of the undertale cast. and the half official canon ending? (i say half bcs it was never fully realized but. was confirmed to be going to happen by cq) where he does escape to the surface but messes around with his determination, accidently sending himself to the antivoid, where he glitches out, which wipes out his entire memory. WHICH BRINGS US THE 3RD BOY AND MY FAV FOR THE LONGEST (jazz hands),,,,, ERROR!!!!

Although his comic was never finished, cq confirmed he was intended to be geno in the past, though he doesnt remember it! He lives in the save screen and answes the voices (tumblr blog asks) to talk! hes. kinda insane but in a silly way! and is the self proclaimed destroyer of worlds! who assigned him this job? why, himself of coarse! and he is providing the multiverse with a great love by doing this (no he is not). hes self centered, has really bad mood swings, sees and hears things others cant (though they are real, others just cant see them), dissociates whenever he talks on certain things, and is overall! not okay! i love him so fucking much holy shit. so he has his own tumblr ask thing (which theres like an hour long dub on yt if u wanna watch it) but basically what it mostly shows is, he loves chocolate (he eats it with the wrapper on. he also has. 6 tongues? iirc) he also loves puppets! and makes puppets of different au sanses! and talks to them as if they are. people. mayber they are! idk! although he destroys aus he has a soft spot for 2, outertale because he loves the space and the stars, and undernovela, his favourite spanish soap opera au! (he does not speak spanish. nore does he get subtitles. hes quite literally stalking these people through portals and calling it a show.) he also has magic strings! which he uses to take the human souls from aus he destroys so they cant reset. he didnt always have them though :)

but he doesnt remember that! hes so so silly i lvoe him so much.

oh also he kidnapped and underswap sans and forced him to stay in the antivoid and the blue, kinda started to befriend him? but uh. he mad error mad so error left him alone in the void until blue started to glitch and hear the voices as well. though he still cant see the random tumblr blogger error left tied up in the antivoid, so who knows if thats real. but enough about blue!!! we jsut love the silly man error!!!!!!!

so blue tried to teavh him how to knit while they were in the antivoid, but erros really bad at it,, like really really reallyyyyy bad at it. and he despises it. but!!! its how they start bonding!!! he also loves loves loves to rob underfell because they have amazing spicy chocolate. he also just enjoys fucking with this one underfell sans by stealing his stuff and using his au as a trash dump! said sans is not aware of this and is confused about who tf is stealing his stuff and throwing trash at him. MORE FUN ERROR FACTS!!!! He also is very near sighted (like me :3) and has glasses tho he doesnt wear them much but hes so cute in them!! he also physically glitches out like a computer when stressed or emotion or just. sometimes- and his eyes get covered by errors meanign he can't see at all, during that he liked to play one man blind cats cradle! he also if he gets too stressed or glitched he will literally crashed and have to reboot- he also has haphephobia (fear of touch) n does not like being touched a lot or without warning, it makes him all glitchy as well! hes also a massive hypocrite constantly and is genuinely just. insane- but in a silly way!!!! its also heavily implied that his puppets are. the dead souls of ppl from aus, minus his sans classic, he doesnt destroy classic (aka undertale) timelines bcs its the original! but he calls the rest abominations (like underfell is abomination #13). its heavily implied bcs he called the blue he kidnapped (thats still alive. for now-) abomination #11 ! he also talked to his puppets like they are other people although he voices them- he also uses portals in a way to show past events to show his memories(?)(they are his memories but he. doesnt remember them. if that makes sense.) ALSO WITH HIS STRINGS!! IF HE GRABS THE SOULS OF LIVING BEINGS (LIKE BLUE) HE CAN PUPPETEER THEM AND USE THEIR BODY AND MAGIC TO ATTACK! WHICH IS. TERRIFYING!! Hes also like. deathly afraid of Fresh n despises him with his whole soul

Do you have any OCs?

OCs? Yeah I have a few, not many I have drawn or written for though.

For Undertale if you're asking about AU derivatives (like Ash from BHC instead of Horror from HT) no I don't. But AU fusions? I have exactly one, and he's a Dust/Fresh mash known as Rust. And there was that Uber/Lyft Sans I came up with but is more for the memes than an OC.

Please note I don't count my original AU characters (like SOULciety Papyrus or Pixelville Sans for example) as OCs ^^;

OCs just fit a different box for me and are more for personal shenanigans than anything (it's hard to explain) So there's some people I've thought of or have but am not mentioning because I do have an AU plotted for them.

Non-undertale OCs are my girl Oreo who I've had since I was a kid so she does have her own backstory and everything but which I publicly won't be disclosing, and by technicality my boy Misery who looks like Sans but isn't for purposes of my own mental torture.

Well, I was asked to talk about Villain OCs, time to talk about Villain OCs

Now this art is mostly from two years ago. I used to challenge myself to draw all my OCs once a year but it got to be too much after a little while. Either way, here you go :P

The Prince of The Skies (The Prince, Pride)

The Prince was originally one of Mable’s pokemon, (an unfezant nicknamed Ribbon) who was accidentally turned human along with the rest of her team. Ribbon met an expert in magical artifacts (we’ll get to her in a minuet) who offered him a chance with some of her spells. The one he picked turned him into a vampire. While he originally intended for it to be temporary, Ribbon was corrupted pretty early on and had to be changed back by force.

Now, in the intro post I mentioned that alternate timelines come into play. This is probably the most obvious case. In Vanilla (the main timeline ie, no mods) Ribbon is secretly very ashamed of himself after changing back. He was in full control but became such a different person while corrupted that it didn’t matter. In situations where he never reverts to his human self, he couldn’t be happier.

Overall, the Prince is very dramatic and flamboyant. He thinks too highly of himself but also has the power to back it up. He doesn’t forgive easily, but is a surprisingly graceful loser (if only to catch his enemies off guard when he gets revenge) He also respects when someone resists being drunk from. If you can keep him back three different times, he’ll never come after you again.

Brayden (The Flame, Wrath)

Bradyen is the first fusion on the list. His technical name is Blazeden (blaze/den) as he’s a fusion of a blaze (yes, from minecraft) and a human named Aiden (also from minecraft, but like, the spin off that took over my brain for a year in 2017) This is pretty fitting, actually, since the name Aiden means ‘fiery’. For simplicity's sake, Aiden starts as a bully who later on tries to stage a coup on a sky island. When the people rejected him, he started a city wide fire. Blaze are fire spirits that might actually be mechanical (it’s minecraft, who knows for sure) but either way they spit fireballs at anything that get too close

The result of combining an arsonist with a fire spirit is a person with flames always licking the inside of his chest. Brayden was held captive in a research facility when he was young but was convinced to work as muscle for his captors for a short while. After realizing he was being used, he broke out of containment and now lives on the edge of society. Aside from his destructive tendencies and hair-trigger temper, he can be a decent person to hang out with. Then again, he also sets forest fires for fun. He’s in the middle between bully and criminal, but powerful enough to be a pretty big threat. He can also hover and set himself on fire, just because.

Scarecrow (The Assassin, Greed)

Scarecrow is an expert in potions and magical artifacts. Most of the time she serves as mercenary who collects things and ingredients for other people, one of those ‘will always help for the right price’ type of people. Yes, she was the one who introduced the Prince to the dark magic need for his transformation. How exactly does she find things from distant places so quickly? How did a candy fox end up in the pokemon world? Portals. She has an artifact that lets her open portals.

Flore/Dandelion (The Weed, Gluttony)

Quick backtracking, remember how Mable was cloned three times? No? Ok, well their names are Z, Stormy/Wolfworm and Flore. Z is half porygon-Z, Stormy is half Wither (yes, again, minecraft) but is called Wolfworm in the Nightmare animitronic AU and the name drifted to try and make things easier (it didn’t).

Flore is the third and final of the clones, taking after Flowey (undertale) While all three are adaptable shapeshifters, Flore is the most trickstery of all of them. She also possesses the power to rewind her actions if she dies, meaning she can see the whole world as a game in need of a villain. That’s it really. Her motivation could be something super meta, and probably was during the beginning since she’s at least a little self aware due to Flowey, but really she just likes the spectacle of being violent and knows that whatever she does won’t have lasting consequences.

Flore also switches forms a lot, her favorite being her hybrid self, her human disguise and her monster form that looks an awful lot like her Nightmare Panther. That’s exactly what it is btw, she really likes being 10 feet tall and full of teeth. She also likes to swing around on vines in a sort of acrobat way and fights with a comically large hammer.

Her title of The Weed has a double meaning. First, she's literally part plant and second, she chokes out life wherever she pleases. Where Wolfworm constantly eats out of necessity, Flore destroys anything and everything all for the fun of it. Flore knows what she's doing and doesn't care, unlike Wolfworm who is too childish to understand. This difference is why Flore is assigned the sin of gluttony, while Wolfworm is not a part of the rainbow at all.

Dr. Losco (The Scholar, Sloth)

Supposedly brilliant, Dr. Geno Losco is both a mafia boss and a scientist. Not a mad scientist, though. He's quite rational. So rational that he never does his own dirty work and would much rather pay off people to do anything and everything for him. While not as destructive, Dr. Losco's crimes include taking credit for other's discoveries and finding ways to manipulate more money into his pockets... that will then be used to pay off other people.

(PS. losco is the Italian word for sly or untrustworthy. No one in-universe seems to know this)

King Andrew (The King, Wrath)

Andrew’s name is really confusing. In-universe his original name was Andy (a combination of Aiden and Tiny) but then renamed himself. The thing is, when he announced his name by saying “It’s Scourge, then” nobody heard him properly. Is that a dumb way of explaining how he got the name Scourgeden (Scourge/den)? yeah, probably. The thing is, I have no way of being sure anyone will know how to pronounce Scourgeden so I started calling him King Andrew as an evolution of Andy. He’s Scourgeden in my heart, though. As a Nightmare animatronic his name is Cyrus (because it sounds like scythe and calling him Scythe would be dumb)

King Andrew shares his human half with Brayden, hence the Aiden part of his name. The cat half is Scourge from warrior cats because it was 2017 and no one has the power to call me cringe but myself.

Andrew regards himself as a noble leader ruling a clan of other unwanted science experiments hiding in the shadows. He started off by solving other’s problems but started getting too violent His blood brother, Lance (Lucas (minecraft, last time, I promise) + Ocelot (real life) = Lancelot) saw the oncoming corruption and tried to resist him. They fought and Andrew was forced to declare his brother dead to him. The next few weeks were a bloodbath as Andrew killed keep his title, doubling down and not letting anyone oppose him. By the time the dust had settled he had seven teeth in his collar like a crown.

If this sounds like it could be a fantasy novel, I wrote a 12 chapter long story about this on DeviantArt and even if some parts are kinda odd, I’m decently proud of it.

There’s also a point in the story that Lance and Andrew chose to be blood brothers unlike Brayden and Andrew who are only brothers because they share a human half. Andrew highlights this by only calling Brayden his half brother.

While both of them represent the sin of wrath, The Flame is the burning outward wrath that hurts other caught in the crossfire while The King is the cold inward kind of wrath that hurts the one committing the sin in the first place.

Lydia (The Swan, Envy)

While Lydia doesn't tell much about her past, she is well known as an incredible singer and performer. She often talks about the magic of theater, and the magic of her psychic-type pokemon. She would do anything to stay in the spotlight, even if that means using her pokemon for unsportsmanlike purposes. She’s also rumored to have a mad uncle she was supposed to be looking out for, but the man doesn’t seem to know who she is. It’s Edward btw. She was sent to Pibbina to look out for him after he cut contact (forgot his family even existed) and secretly resents needing to leave her up and coming career because no one else could be bothered to make sure he was still alive.

I am a writer and I love to hyper focus on dissecting characters to explained how they work, that’s actually one of the differences between me and Steven.

I am more introverted so I can do what I want without anyone bothering me. Fun memory, I remember walking around my city when I’d fall half asleep and separate, leaving Ren would have to walk back (I yea, remember that - Ren)

I also have the highest pain tolerance because my body is trash and constantly aches, whenever I get a bad ache while split I am basically shoved into the front seat because no one else can handle it (Oh yea… I remember THAT - Ren)

Hi there, I’m Ren. I kinda act like the guard of everyone, though everyone is to much of a coward to let me front with someone near by.

Beside Theo I do most of the fronting when Steve/Steven is on autopilot, I probably took his job when I appeared. I do damage control whenever everyone is in a panic, though they usually keep spiking adrenaline and running around the mindscape while I do things.

I really like music actually, though Steven doesn’t listen to any big bands so I don’t know any bands or anything, I mean I wouldn’t bother to remember them anyway but still.

Possible Deltarune Theory

I’ve been thinking about this for a while and while it is a little far-fetched I would love to hear other peoples opinions on this to check I’m not connecting dots that aren’t there

Okkk so general knowledge:

Deltarune shares its name with The Delta Rune. The Delta Rune symbolises The Angel, a being who has seen the surface prophesied to save the Underground and free the monsters. Some interpret it as bringing them to the surface, others interpret that as killing them. It’s often though that the Angel is either Frisk, Chara or Asriel

Asriel:

At the end of Undertales True Pacifist route, you face Asriel - The God of Hyperdeath. In some cultures, Asrael is the name for the Angel of death. His God of Hyperdeath form resembles the symbol of the Angel a.k.a The Deltarune. During his fight, he talks about purging the timeline and create it anew, so he can play with Frisk, who he believes to be Chara, forever.

Main Theory:

What if Deltarune takes place as an alternate timeline where Asriel beat Frisk and remade the timeline. Of course, still being technically a child, and a monster not fit for determination, he likely couldn’t handle that power, which is why everything in Deltarune is so similar but so different to Undertale like the characters roles and relationships. It would also explain why characters like the amalgams have died, because the experiments would’ve never happened 

Kris is an interesting part. Since Kris is the only human (just like we were in the Underground) and we don’t see Chara or Frisk appear, I think the in Asriel confusion, he accidentally created a brand new person when trying to create Chara from Frisk. Of course, since he didn’t erase things, only remake them, Frisk and Chara are still alive. Maybe they’re part of Kris’s soul, maybe they’re in the void with Gaster and Dess or maybe we just haven’t seen them yet and I’m wrong - who knows? It’s why Kris looks like a fusion of the two, and if Kris is spelt Chris, it’s also a perfect amalgamation of their names.

I think it’s possible that the new timeline was created we we inhabited Kris body, not from the beginning as kids. Every memory anybody has has just been fabricated for the timeline.

If Asriel is some kind of god that oversees the timeline, it would explain why we don’t see him in world. He possibly just created the college story to explain it away.

Problem is, if Asriel can control everything, what about the Knight? Why is the knight there? Why are they creating the Dark Worlds? 

The Problem of the Dark Worlds:

I think the Dark Worlds are created to restore balance. Like I said before, he didn’t erase the timeline, just changed it beyond recognition. Undertale couldn’t exist without the separation between humans and monsters, it would mean the main character has no purpose. You can’t have a game with no rules, after all. 

So

The dark world are created to replace the Underground. Instead of Humans and Monsters, it’s Light and Dark. It’s the same story - human falls into a new world with new people, either makes friends or kills them all, either way they get back to where they came from.

There’s just one problem…

That now leaves the age old question of: Who is the Knight?? It could be someone that would remembers the previous timeline in order to know that there has to be balance, or maybe they’re trying to put the timeline back how it was. Now of course, when it comes to timeline shenanigans, Asriel, Frisk and Chara are the first names I think most of us think of. So: is any of them the Knight? Could they just want things back the way the were? These ideas are enforced by the fact Queen said anyone can open a fountain if they are determined enough, which again, sounds a lot like Asriel, Chara and Frisk.

Other Notes:

Hopes and Dreams (not just Asriel’s theme, but The God of Hyperdeath’s theme specifically) appears several times throughout the soundtrack in both Chapter One and Two, it’s clear that Asriel is definitely going to be an important character. 

There are some hints to Undertale itself as well, mainly the fact that you can find Ariel’s design for a final game boss is a “creature with giant rainbow wings” - sound familiar?

The Delta Rune symbol is scattered all over the place, but since it wouldn’t symbolise freedom from the Underground, it shouldn’t be that important, yet it appears in both the Light World and the Dark World

So, I have this story called the Pantheon of Hailu that's a sort of crossover story where the characters all come from different universes and travel between universes frequently.

I've been thinking about how characters that come from universes or groups of universes with certain "rules" (e.g. video game mechanics, magic systems, etc...) to them would be affected by going into a universe that doesn't follow those rules.

I think it kinda works like converting a file into a different one. For example, Diane is Rubberhose, which is similar enough in species to a human that if she were to go to the original Undertale, she would have a human soul. Raine, however, despite being originally human, has been significantly changed through possession and fusion with a demonic force and would be far more likely to have a monster soul than a human one. They would likely be given the physical and magical capacity to create monster bullets, but wouldn't be able to use it without being taught how and they would also dust like a monster.

Of course, this would be subject to variation if they were to instead visit an AU of Undertale. If Raine were to visit the "Something New" universe, they would probably have a soul like that of Killer and Chara's souls.

If Chip and Boill were to travel to the ATLA universe, they would both be considered spirits and would have the same capabilities of a spirit. Again, they wouldn't know how to use most of them without being taught (except for Boill having already been able to possess people), and would still find the spirit world to be as mystical and nonsensical as any normal human would.

Diane, however, due to technically being considered a different species of human, would essentially stay the same, as there's already rules for humans, just not rubberhose humans. Raine would be considered a human turned into a spirit after death, as well as fused with another spirit (there's no evidence that this can even happen in ATLA, but given what else they can do, I think it's plausible).

If any of them were to travel to the MLP universe, due to the "humans turn into ponies" rule, they would likely be transformed into their closest MLP equivalent, which could involve certain individuals gaining wings or unicorn magic where they otherwise would have none.

Despite all of this, I think that for the Pantheon of Hailu, there's probably something that can be used to bypass these sorts of transformation, especially given that they're usually there to do something specific, and that's gonna be a lot more difficult of you gotta re-learn how to walk. But who knows :)

The CORRECT ANSWER: the Chairman's brother-- Thomas Saggs -- does NOT name a plant after the player!

While it's true that all of his plants have names, not a single one intentionally shares the player's name.

In the April Toons event of 2022, Thomas tells the player about his plant Bubby's recent "offspring"-- a seed he dropped that Thomas planted out of curiosity. He admits he's struggling to think of a name for the baby plant and asks the player their opinion on the name he was thinking of: "Bubby Jr."

But he does not decide to name him after the Player.

A resistance ranger has to go to therapy for a vampire phobia.

Resistance Ranger Rocky, stationed in the Brrrgh HQ, is TERRIFIED of vampires. As a result he despises Bloodsuckers, and especially the infamous vampire Suits known as Count Erclaim and Count Erfit.

In the April Toons 2022 comic, we see Rocky has been attending therapy to try to work through this issue.

The Toon Resistance actually killed a man.

This one is also true of course! As a matter of fact, it happened almost exactly three years ago. The anniversary being July 23rd/24th.

This was the end result of Operation: Break the Law, an event spanning late 2019 to mid 2020. It culminated in the death of the Witness Stand-In, Atticus Wing, resulting in the first permanent Suit casualty of the war. He left behind his son, Redd Heir Wing, who is now the last of the Wing family...

Sans Undertale used to exist but got literally yeeted out of canon.

Technically, his name was Sads the Skelecog, but as such a blatant expy of Sans, they may as well be the same character with a different coat of gears. He was a secret April Toons/Halloween boss from 2019 until 2022, where he did not return, and was removed from the game entirely.

This also soon led to him being completely vanquished from the canon, being retconned in spectacular fashion as Count Erfit grabs him and throws him into the sun.

A gay fusion of two cogs broke the multiverse for a month.

This was the famous MAYpril Toons update of 2023! This event was spectacular, introducing the new, permanent April Toons event boss High Roller, who is a fusion of the Duck Shuffler and the Major Player-- Buck Ruffler and Dave Brubot respectively.

While the nature of their relationship is fairly open to interpretation, the common assumption is that they are romantically involved, and the fusion only solidifies that assumption for many.

However, it's implied in Mac Opsys' final message before the end of the event that High Roller herself came from an alternate reality, and he's spent the whole event trying to stabilize the dimensions and send His Quackjesty back from whence he came.

Local misogynist decides to ignore his orders and set a flag on fire instead.

This one is a doozy. So-- for the "misogyny" claim, the guy in question, Prester Virgil the Witch Hunter, is known for making disparaging remarks about the CLO-- Diane Morsecode. They were formerly employed by the same company, and it's implied they did not get along.

One of Prester's drops, his hat, is notably called the Caddish Chapeau.

Already, not a good look for him.

He's stationed in Ye Olde Toontowne, and through the Kudos Questline for said playground, you eventually uncover memos discussing his assignment to free the Cog imprisoned in the dungeon there.

However, upon finally challenging the Witch Hunter, he declares that he has no intention of actually carrying out that assignment, seeing no point in it. Upon noticing the Toons' arrival, he promptly sets the tower's flagpole and flag ablaze, burning them to ash, and challenges the Toons to battle.

The toon response to a cog asking to play a game is to drop a piano on them.

This is part of the Rainmaker Misty Monsoon's "mercy" ending cutscene, where she confides in the player her troubles.

She laments that when she approached Barnacle Bessie, asking if she wished to play a game, the duck responded by attempting to crush her with a Drop gag!

This event is referenced in the Trivia minigame in High Roller's fight, where he asks a true or false question about this occurrence.

A man's autonomy has been all but supplanted by a kill code.

The Override. Oh, boy, the Override.

Chip Revvington, the Chainsaw Consultant, was a loyal employee of COGS Inc. for over a year prior to his promotion to the manager rank. How was he rewarded for all his hard work?

With mandatory "modifications" that were only "partially successful". This likely refers to the incomplete nature of the Override, and the way it tends to go haywire, firing everyone in sight.

The Override completely locks out Chip's individual personality when it's fully active, and while it's active, it is enacting a Termination Protocol. But Chip himself despises the Override, and attempts to break free from its control, even trying to aid the player by giving them hints on how to avoid triggering some of its functions, and stopping it from using Deadwood.

This guy's probably one of the most respectful NPCs to the player and absolutely did not deserve this slander!

Dave fucking Brubot, everyone! Everyone LOVES this guy and for good reason! He's got a fun design, he's charismatic, he makes hilarious piano midi sounds, and has canonically composed some of the best music in the game.

And yes. He CAN AND WILL AND DOES flirt with the player purely for the dramatics of it all.

He calls the player "babe/baby" among other nicknames, and upon being soundly defeated, he'll take a knee and caress the player's face while congratulating you on your victory. He leaves behind a single red rose when he leaves the stage and it all fades to black...

uhhhhhh..... no??? i don’t think any of that is true.

It is 100% possible to write the most OOC takes while still technically being set in canon, and you can make an AU that’s pretty removed from canon while remaining true to its themes and characters. You can absolutely keep Sans’ base personality intact, but explore how a different setting might emphasize or downplay certain aspects of it. An Underfell!Sans might be more aloof and guarded, might tell meaner jokes; an Outertale!Sans might not like space as much because he’s trapped in it, but there’s some other field of science he’s into because he likes the process of understanding something. There’s plenty of ways to spin it without making sans a completely different person who happens to have the same name. But if you completely change a character’s personality, values, history, world--then how are they the same character anymore? Why should someone care about them if it’s only using “sans” or “undertale” for name recognition, and otherwise has nothing to do with the original game? in a lot of cases...? that’s not exploring the character in a new way, it’s just flat-out a different character.

and if it were true that people have run out of cool ideas for canon, then where is all the content exploring it? where are all the neutral ending fics, where are the fics exploring flowey’s runs and possible shenanigans, where are the stories that don’t focus on sans and/or gaster? There are some out there of course, but they’re few and far between compared to the AUs that only involve some version of Sans--that’s why i’ve been complaining! XD And I certainly haven’t run out! Do you wanna know how many ideas and projects i’m sitting on that are still things i want to explore? I have:

But saying that there are no more cool ideas to do just feels... dismissive, of both my efforts as well as all the other people who are trying to make their way in the fandom.

so uh... don’t rule it out preemptively, y’know? you never know when the next cool story will come out, even after all this time ^^

Quartavia’s name comes from Octavia’s name and Steven’s middle name.

you have to pronounce the name like how you say Quartz first, but without the “z” at the end, and then pronounce it with “tavia” part in Octavia’s name.

instead of looking human like Stevonnie, Steven and Connie’s fusion.

the fusion that is Quartavia, is Owl Demon in appearance, and they have four eyes and like Stevonnie and Rainbow 2.0., she only have two arms.

their outfit is a mix of both Steven and Octavia’s outfits, well I tried to make them a mix of their outfits.

Quartavia’s pronouns are She/Her & They/Them, and like Stevonnie, they are Intersex, and are Nonbinary, but identify as a Nonbinary-Girl.

there are different Nonbinary in this world, some will be just Nonbinary, while others will be Nonbinary-Boy or Nonbinary-Girl.

Quartavia has both Steven and Octavia’s powers, meaning that Quartavia is able to use healing magic and even make plants form into plant versions of themself.

another power that Quartavia could of gotten from Steven, is the super speed and being able to form a bubble around herself and even others.

the other powers that Quartavia could of ended up getting would be the Pink Mad Form, which knowing this, Quartavia could try to do some meditation to calm themself so not to cause any damage.

Quartavia is a Crossover fusion between Steven and Octavia, and is in a way a Crossover Ship between the two, so they are Fanon and Not Canon. 

I can’t help but think that Stella would scream at them to unfuse or else.

not sure how Stolas would feel about Quartavia, who is made up of half of his daughter and the other half being a half-human/half-gem boy.

of course with the different types you can’t use “I ship it” because people will get the wrong idea, so you have to use words like “I sib it” for platonic family like love like siblings, and Family, and for family you use “I fam it”

Loona and Octavia is the “I sib it” type, maybe they will from a type of sisterly bond if they appear in more episodes together.

well technically the name Chara is a diminutive of the name Charlotte, and isn’t just from the word Character like from Undertale.

maybe Undertale and Steven Universe are more link than we thought, and Steven and Connie’s names might hint to this. XD

Mettaton is a False Prophet [OLD THEORY]

To start things off and make sure we have a reference, we need to list off the eerie yet superficial similarities between Mettaton and Asriel:

They both have multiple forms, with Mettaton having his normal form at the beginning, his EX form during his fight, and his NEO form in the No Mercy run. Asriel has his flower form throughout most of the game, his child form at the end of the True Pacifist run, and his “God of Hyperdeath” form also at the end of the True Pacifist run.

This is a minor detail, but they both possess the power to change the application’s name, with Mettaton turning it to “Undertale The Musical” during the track Oh! One True Love and Flowey turning it into “Floweytale” during his boss fight at the end of a neutral run. With the ability to change meta elements like this being traditionally associated with possessing determination in fan theories, we can conclude that there’s a case of overlap here. Another minor detail is that they’re the only two characters who can audibly speak, with Flowey’s creepy “that’s a wonderful idea!” and Mettaton’s famous “oh yes!”

One big similarity is that they’re both products of Alphys, with Mettaton being an attempt to purposefully enfuse a monster soul into an inanimate robot initially with the purpose of being efficient at killing humans, while Flowey was an incident caused by injecting determination into an inanimate object that had the remnants of a monster soul within it.

This is a bit of a stretch, but both characters are artificially inserted into your journey in an attempt to please an ulterior motive, with Flowey enacting his agency at the level equivalent of a player to toy with the same experiences and reconnect with whom he believes to be Chara while Mettaton was conscripted by Alphys to set up an elaborate stage play where she can rescue from him to feel better about herself, acting only at the level of agency as a monster.

The biggest emotional similarity is that both possess a mournful attitude towards a lost sibling, with Asriel on an endless quest of ironic spite against Chara for severing their old friendship by dying while Mettaton leaves Napstablook behind to pursue hedonistic dreams of fame and beauty, destroying the potential they had as a performance duo. Both rectify the holes these relationships left in them, with Asriel destroying the very thing that led to Chara’s death and Mettaton humbling himself reconnecting with Napstablook.

Goal-wise, they both obsess over humans but for very different reasons: Asriel has an obsession with only one human, and the reasons for this are very deep-seated and personal. Mettaton’s obsession however is more vain and is concerned with growing his audience beyond the borders of the Underground and being seen as a sort of vanguard for monsterkind among humanity. Or more insidiously, he feels as if he can assimilate into them. Both seek a form of transcendence that comes with obtaining a human soul: Asriel, as Flowey, seeks one so he can restore a bit of what he lost when he became a flower. Mettaton wants one again for vain reasons; those being to deprive Asgore of the opportunity and claim the title of the “Savior of the Underground” to himself.

Despite this being the most superficial similarity, it’s likely the most important: Both of their ‘ultimate’ forms—Mettaton NEO and God of Hyperdeath—have some interesting similarities between their designs. The most obvious is that they have these large wings jutting out, with Asriel’s having intricate color patterns while Mettaton’s flash between a brighter and darker shade of grey. Other similarities include excessively large shoulder blades and heart patterns on the chest area that are also shared with Undyne the Undying, indicating that this design motif is a trend among all major bosses considered to possess determination. Finally, this form also vaguely resembles the Delta Rune symbol, which I will elaborate on what they mean later. Despite all of this, it’s mainly the wings that are the contentious point of comparison, which I’ll get into later.

Lastly, they both seek a form of integration outside of themselves, with Asriel seeking once again the fusion of their soul with Chara’s, while Mettaton seeks total unification of their soul with their new body, and this is represented in the designs of their ultimate forms, with Mettaton’s ensignia featuring two hearts (one empty and one a monster soul) opposing each other, while Asriel’s features an empty soul within another empty soul. This is likely a metaphor that, despite all of the power he possesses, he’s still empty because he doesn’t have his friend with him. Conversely, this can apply to how Mettaton, despite achieving everything he basically dreamed of (as written in his diaries), feels empty because he abandoned Napstablook.

We’re finally done with comparisons to lay down the evidence for the main point. Now, we’ll get onto the Deltarune prophecy and what it means:

As most of you probably know, the Delta Rune is an emblem that represents the Kingdom of Monsters and is seen on the garments of every Boss Monster. In Waterfall, there are glyphs that describe a prophecy: “The Angel… The One Who Has Seen The Surface… They will return. And the underground will go empty.” If you ask Gerson to elaborate on what this means, he says that some monsters believe that this refers to a bleaker outlook: That the angel prophesied is actually a harbinger of death, and that this freedom actually refers to death.

If you connect the dots, you end up with two conflictingly obvious solutions: The first is that the player is the prophesied angel who appropriately fits both outlooks, being able to destroy the barrier and free monsterkind or free them mortally by attempting to slaughter all of them. However, another conclusion that can be drawn is that the angel prophesied is actually Asriel, and that you’re merely a vessel for his unwitting divine plan. While both are valid interpretations, the second is far more relevant to my point.

Also mentioned in those glyphs is the fact that not a single human soul was taken in the war between humans and monsters, alongside this is the missed opportunity to uncover that one can achieve godhood if they combine a human and monster’s souls. This implies a type of dualism as to whether or not the angel symbolizes the player or Asriel, as it’s more accurate to say that both the player and Asriel—the fusion of their souls—is the angel. This makes sense in both the contexts of the True Pacifist and No Mercy runs (and technically neutral), as both are attempts by Asriel to integrate with Chara again, with the former favoring Asriel’s determination while the latter favoring the player’s.

Now, what if I told you that Mettaton’s character in the story is his attempt to fulfill this prophecy artificially, thus making a false prophet of himself?

It seems hard to believe at first, but considering all the weird similarities between the staging and capabilities of both Asriel and Mettaton, it seems to imply that there’s some similarities between them in the context of the fate of monsterkind. Not only is it common knowledge among all monsters to speak of the prophecy, we also know Mettaton grew up in Waterfall alongside Napstablook and Shyren, meaning that this prophecy could’ve had more meaning to him specifically.

Now, it’s unknown whether or not the intentions to save monsterkind came about because of his hubris or because they were suggested to him by some higher command like Asgore, but considering that he states directly that he wants to kill you to prevent Asgore from taking your soul, it implies that Mettaton’s attempt at fulfilling the Delta Rune prophecy is entirely selfish.

One point of evidence in the camp that Mettaton was intentionally made to fulfill the Delta Rune prophecy is that Mettaton was made to impress Asgore according to Catty and Bratty. If this is true, then his position as a celebrity implies that he was made to be a beacon of hope that could be predictably grown and made to accomplish a purpose that fulfilled everyone’s collective desire. But the hair covering his right eye and its further concealment in his NEO form tells that, if he was created to fulfill the prophecy, then he wasn’t finished for this task and still required further tinkering from Alphys.

It may be entirely coincidental that Mettaton’s motivations as a character parallel and complement Asriel’s, but I find that hard to believe especially given the similarities of being separated from a lost sibling, seeking an integration of souls that’ll grant extraordinary power to embrace humanity to a degree, and possessing soulless objects. What I think really drives it home for me is the similarities between Mettaton NEO and the God of Hyperdeath, both of which are depicted as being angelic with prominent wings, which I’ll go on record to state are the only two boss fights in the game that feature wings prominently.

If Asriel is fulfilled as the angel of death, then the depiction of Mettaton NEO is given a newfound authenticity as he serves as the image of a guardian angel meant to stop you in a place where there is nobody to onlook, forcing him to act in authentic spirit. He now has the duty of protecting both monsterkind and humankind from you, even if he utterly fails at it.

One thing that’s hard to answer is how Mettaton is able to perform actions that imply metatextual awareness of the game and other similar actions Flowey does despite never being implied or hinted at possessing determination. Does this imply that, like Flowey, the process of integrating monster souls into inanimate objects grants them some form of determination? If so, it would grant greater proof as to why Mettaton has such a vested interest in fulfilling the Delta Rune prophecy beyond merely hearing about it. Yet, we know from the True Lab logs that Flowey was injected with determination while there’s no such implication that the same was done with Mettaton. However, we can gather from Napstablook being able to avoid being absorbed into Flowey as he transforms into Asriel that ghosts, as a type of monster, are seemingly immune to things other monsters aren’t. Perhaps this implies that they have metatextual powers like monsters with determination?

Now, here comes the really fun (and fortunately last) part where I draw parallels between these characters and the real-world mythology that may have inspired them:

Now, it’s a factoid among some that Asriel’s name may be inspired by Azrael, who is described as the angel of death in Judaism and Islam, and as part of that title, he separated souls from their bodies. His appearance has been described as being cosmically large, having an insurmountable amount of wings, and possessing a body formed of an amount of eyes and tongues representing every human being. Right away, we can see parallels to the God of Hyperdeath, who also has very large wings that appear to project a cosmic pattern within them. While its appearance may not correspond literally, he is a being composed of every human and monster soul in the Underground, eerily matching the description. Not to mention that Asriel absorbed Chara’s soul into them, equivalent to Azrael’s job of severing souls from their bodies.

Another factoid is that Metaton’s name is possibly inspired by Metatron, another angel of Judaism that, unlike Azrael, isn’t found in the Tanakh but is mentioned briefly in the Talmud. He has a similar job to Azrael in that he records the sins and merits of men, similar to how Azrael was able to see which names were blessed or damned. However, Metatron holds an even more lofty title in Kabbalistic mysticism as God’s mediator between men, being described as one “whose name is like that of his master”, even going as far as to be called “the lesser YHWH.” This is obviously a heretical dualistic proclivity in an otherwise monotheistic Judaism. Further, Metatron is related to Enoch, being described in Jewish apocrypha as the name Metatron used to have before he was transformed into an angel. Now, for all of that backstory, it parallels to Mettaton specifically in transformation: It seems as if Mettaton’s obsession with human reciprocation and the very humanoid appearance of his EX form imply that he wants to integrate into humanity similar to how Enoch entered angeldom.

The hot topic is whether or not Metatron’s power compared to that of God given the texts stating he was a secondary power in heaven with YHWH, but the answer most Rabbinistic scholars give is that he obviously wasn’t despite that it was written that all other angels bowed before him. However, this idea of there being dual power in Heaven is what later laid the groundwork for understanding the nature of Christ in Christianity. But in most Jewish sects, this doesn’t fly and is seen as a dualistic heresy, implying that there’s a falseness to Metatron’s power. Just like how there is a falseness to Mettaton’s power and intentions in all runs of the game. Another neat thing to note is that, as part of accepting Metatron as a real angel, one believes that any time a human believes God has directly spoken to them, it’s actually Metatron acting as his vessel. Perhaps this is parallel with how Mettaton is the voice of the Underground and it’s desire to be free despite himself possessing relatively lacking power?

The angel required a fusion of both a monster and human soul, and while Mettaton is the fusion between a monster soul and a soulless object akin to Flowey, it wasn’t enough to fulfill the role of the angel, falling short of his lofty dreams of being a savior. However, this disillusionment isn’t cruel, especially when you spare Mettaton and he receives a call from Napstablook (implied) that reminds him of his importance to monsterkind, making him reconsider his lofty ambitions to appeal to humanity. This is telling Mettaton that he is not a mediator between monster and humankind that he thought of himself as, for he never had the ability to combine both human and monster soul like Asriel. Perhaps he had the determination to be able to foresee the realization of the prophecy but not enough to put it into effect?

That’s just about everything I have to potentially support this theory, including referents to Jewish mythology. I firmly believe that Mettaton’s presence in the story was to serve as a false prophet to fulfill the prophecy of the Delta Rune, and that explains why his character and origin is so similar to that of Flowey.
