someone said LORE PLEASE?
On the Underground:
The entire “underground” in this world is spread across an archipelago. Some of it in under water, some of it isn’t. All of it is surrounded by a massive magical coral reef wall that juts unnaturally out of the surf. The Great Barrier is impossible to jump over, swim under, or through. A massive storm constantly rages just outside the Great Barrier, making it almost impossible to approach from the outside as well. Though as Frisk (and Chara) have proven, it IS possible to enter this place from the outside.
The ruins are partially submerged underwater. As the island the city was originally built on slowly sinks deeper into the ocean.
The Snowdin and Hotland regions are each a series of smaller islands clustered together within the larger archipelago. Volcanic islands makes up Hotland while, you guessed it! Snow covered island and a cluster of glaciers make up Snowdin.
Ruined buildings found across the archipelago both underwater and on land are vaguely Greek/Roman in style.
The water and weather within the archipelago is generally mild, pleasantly hot in the afternoon and a little chilly in the morning/evenings.
Other Trivia bits:
Assume the Narrative follows UT canon unless a specific thing is said to happen otherwise.
Chara died some four to three hundred years before Frisk was stranded in the archipelago.
Chara guilds Frisk across the islands provides witty commentary, and gradually seems more lively as Frisk progresses in their journey.
Though Chara will sometimes offer strong suggestions, they are a passive observer and cannot/will not force Frisk to do anything they don’t want to do.
At most, Chara will offer passive-aggressive remarks if they disagree with Frisk’s decisions.
A lot of trash gets caught in the Barrier. What gets through is studied and used by the locals.
Papyrus found a buccaneer's coat and hat washed up from a wreckage once and hasn’t taken it off since.
Sans is a lazy bones and rather float on whatever debris is nearby than swim anywhere himself.
Frisk is a good swimmer but the distance between islands can be overwhelming. If they can’t make a makeshift raft, someone is usually around to give them a ride.
All monsters/merfolk can make air bubbles, but most don't need to breach the surface to breathe.
most monsters assume Frisk just somehow lost their fishtail
Papyrus's hat is scared away by tomfoolery (jk i just didn't want to draw it a second time. pretend it fell off behind him shh)

Make That Double, Ch4 - Yan!SatoSugu X Fem!Reader [AO3]
Word Count: 5.1K
Warnings: non-con, PIV sex (protected), cunnilingus, lactation kink, mommy kink (all with geto)
Gifted with supernatural abilities or not (Sorcerers are a thing? For real? Something like this still difficult for you to accept!), there’s one downfall about both Geto and Gojo you know you can exploit.
The fact that they’re still men.
After what’s unfolded in the underground, Gojo stays behind for a little aftercare. You’re amazed the two even believe in it, all things considered. You’re snuggled between them in a large bath, full of Epsom salt, bath oils, bath bombs, even a few rose petals to add a little more zing to the vibe. And the only light illuminating the place is the tea light candles they’ve garnished around the tub. Perhaps this is to butter and soften you up around them, or it’s more between them since they’re already established in some kind of weird arrangement themselves. You’re not sure if you can call it a relationship.
Geto has a more protective hold around you while Gojo is content just lounging in the steaming hot bath water. Geto traces his finger lightly down your arms, murmuring something into your ear.
“How do you feel now?” he questions, kissing the crown of your head. You shift a bit in place. There’s not much room between the three of you. You’re practically wedged between them. The slightest movement or little wriggle of your body, and you can feel either of their dicks brushing against your thigh or hip underwater. You fucking loathe every minute of this, but it’s better than them violating you, you suppose.
You don’t respond. Gojo glances at you, assessing you with a curious twinkle in his eyes.
“That’s her first time feeling real dick inside her, and we didn’t even move. Of course she’s still feeling a little overwhelmed,” Gojo interjects with a disapproving frown. “I guess you’re right. We should have taken things a bit slower, but you got carried away too, Suguru!”
They talk about you like you’re not even in the room with them. They’re checking off a long, long, loooong list of things that really pisses you off, huh? Beyond the stalking, kidnapping, killing innocent people, violating your body…and all that hunk of shit.
“True,” Geto agrees while absently twirling a strand of your hair. You fight back the urge to wince. You hate how touchy these pricks are. “I just find her difficult to resist.”
Gojo’s brilliantly, blindingly bright sky blue stare bores into you as a toothy smile graces his features. “I guess I can’t blame you there. But come on, I was playing nicer than you were! You are so full of shit.”
And you know what they say about men not only being stupidly easy to bend or manipulate, but also being stupidly competitive?
A light bulb goes off in your head. You try to keep your expression neutral. Sure, you’re pissed as all hell at these guys, but you have to learn how to play the long game like you told yourself before.
“Satoru’s right,” you pipe in, as you pry yourself away from Geto’s embrace and snuggle into Gojo’s bare chest, your finger tracing over one of his pecs. Geto’s arm splashes the water as you pull away. He’s probably taken aback from his lack of immediate reaction. “He’s been nicer. Gentler. Like a lover should be. Isn’t that right?”
You lean into his ear as you end that sentence with a low, sultry purr, blowing a bit of air into it. You feel Gojo’s breath hitch as he cages you more tightly into his hold, fully secured in his warmth. You don’t react right away, but you wish you could, because the pride swelling in your chest that that was that easy is unbearable in the best way possible.
“But of course, Princess. You know I wasn’t doing anything wrong,” he murmurs as he presses a chaste kiss to your lips. Geto’s stare now bores into your back, his jaw slackened. You try not to grin. Not yet, at least. You bite down the urge hard because of how fast this is working.
To add fuel to the fire, you sigh dreamily into the kiss, your free hand cupping one of Gojo’s cheeks as he deepens it.
Now Geto growls under his breath. Bull’s eye.
“Remember what we’ve discussed, Satoru,” he warns, and with a hearty laugh, Gojo pries one eye open to glance at Suguru. “I hope you remember why I allow this in the first place.”
“Hmmmm…I believe we discussed something about me playing fair when it comes to her, and you know I am! Im not doing anything wrong here,” Gojo taunts back, before twisting his head and twirling his tongue against yours, shutting his eyes again.
“Satoru,” he growls again, simmering in the bath now as he shifts in his spot, the water sloshing slightly as he adjusts, supporting himself against the edge of the tub. Stewing in his own bullshit and you wish you can pry your eyes open to sneak a glance, but you want to play this up a bit more. Favor one over the other sometimes. Find other ways to push their buttons…or at least figure out the proper buttons to push. That’s what really grinds anyone’s gears, but especially men like Geto and Gojo. They are as prone to rivalry and proving to each other who has the bigger sword as much as they are prone to being a team of menaces.
And if a girl like you is on the line? Well, as long as you play your cards right and don’t end up having to fold, it can’t hurt to mess around with this.
Besides, don’t you think you deserve a form of entertainment since you’re having to endure so much crap? Of course you do!
Gojo breaks the kiss only to drag his tongue along your jaw, his eyes glinting in a mischievous manner as they lock on Geto, still stewing in his anger and bullshit. You feel your heart leap and backflip in joy. What a sight! It’s a small win, but a win’s a win and you know you’re not going to have very many of those. You may as well soak it up like a sponge.
Or like your fingers are the bath water…
“Oh, come on, Suguru,” he purrs, as one of his hands glide down your stomach, eliciting a shiver out of you. He quirks an eyebrow as he judges his old friend. “Just teachin’ ya some manners. Like man, maybe you got to read another one of those self-help books on how to please a woman or something. You could seriously use it.”
You bite your lip as you wait for Geto’s retaliation, but shockingly, he has nothing to say in response to that. He only scowls as you snuggle in more into Gojo, and Gojo’s dreamy sigh only seems to piss Geto off even more. What if Geto doesn’t want this arrangement in the first place? He only does it because he still cares about Gojo.
(Not that you care, but it’s something to take into account.)
You really hope you aren’t starting bigger fires. But it’s not like they’d hold back on you, either way, no matter what they insist otherwise.
Remember, you’re playing the long game here…even if you might not win in the end, it’s better to put up a fight than to not try at all.
Geto is still a bit lenient with you when it comes to anything sexual. Which you’re not complaining about in the slightest. It leaves your mind more space to think about your upcoming assignments and exams; this is your last semester and in spite of everything, you’re almost done.
The girls do seem to enjoy spending time with you, which makes all of this a little more bearable. You try to fish for any other information you can about Geto out of them. Anything you can use. You’re not some person gifted with supernatural gifts, but you are gifted with common sense, a hint of street smarts and intelligence.
You doubt it’s going to be enough.
At some point, you do run into some other members of Geto’s ‘family.’ Suda, you have met a handful of times since your first day there. She’s his secretary who doesn’t make any effort to engage with you, but she does send a lot of dirty looks your way. Another member you meet is named Miguel, a sorcerer who hails all the way from Kenya.
You have to admit: the guy’s handsome. But he’s guarded, aloof, keeps mostly to himself, and most of all, he doesn’t seem entertained by your presence in the slightest. But since he respects Geto, he’s supervised you a handful of times while you did any group work with students online.
Just to ensure you don’t try anything stupid.
The computer Geto has given you, you learn, actively records everything you do online anyway. It’s not like you can bypass it. And only Geto can lock and unlock everything for you.
You’re watched like a hawk with everything you do. Even if you call for help, nothing can save you from what these beings are capable of, anyway. You’re not going to drag innocent strangers into this mess. You have to find another way.
One evening while you’re walking back to Geto’s bedroom, you accidentally brush against Miguel. You bow your head and apologize, but he grunts to himself.
“You being here isn’t right,” he mutters, leaving you dumbfounded as he scurries off. Like not right as in ‘you don’t belong with them’? He’s so right about that, but you can’t help but wonder if there’s something you missed.
Not like you can afford to dwell on it. If you’re not back in the bedroom before Geto returns, you have something bigger to worry about then.
You close the door behind you, sighing in relief when you notice he’s not returned from some business he had to attend to that you didn’t care to pay attention to and hear about.
You disrobe, clad in just your lacy undergarments like he expects, before sliding under the covers of the unbelievably soft bed. That’s one perk out of this. The bed back in your apartment isn’t the nicest. You can appreciate the smaller luxuries here.
You release a huge breath of relief. Some time to breathe before Geto pollutes your personal space again.
Oh, how wrong you are. It seems you can’t get too comfortable. The door creaks open and in strides Tweedle-fucking-dee.
“Hello, little dove,” he greets with a small smile before shutting the door. “Did you have a lovely day with the girls?”
You nod, hugging the blanket to your chest. “They were content in letting me play Animal Crossing with them.”
“Sounds like a peaceful time,” he replies as he crawls into bed with you, scooping you into his arms and pulling you flush into him. His finger traces your lips as he affectionately gazes down at you. “I’m glad to see you’re adjusting better than I expected.”
You say nothing, averting your gaze. This all feels so…ugh.
Remember what else you can do?
“Suguru, why do you allow Satoru access to me?” you inquire, feigning innocent curiosity.
His eyebrows flash at that question.
“We just tend to share,” he answers, fiddling with a lock of your hair. Your lips purse.
That doesn’t sound convincing.
“We?” you probe, scooting closer to him. Play this up as much as you can. “Or he? Because it doesn’t sound like you’re happy with the idea. Isn’t this about the girls’ happiness, ultimately? So that they can live with a functional family?”
“I want to give them a healthier upbringing than I had, indeed,” he concedes with a hum, snuggling you closer as he nuzzles his nose into your collarbone. “But Satoru is special to me too. It won’t be much longer until he can no longer see me, anyway.”
Healthier upbringing? …He must see the irony in that confession, right?
You cock your head slightly, parting your lips, as if inviting him for a kiss. “Why’s that?”
“Politics,” he answers smoothly, accepting the bait and pecking your lips. “Regarding sorcerers.”
“Oh. Um.” Words die on your tongue, as you’re unsure where to go from here.
“It doesn’t concern you, little dove. You don’t have to worry about it,” he assures you, pressing a gentle kiss to your temple before his lips trail lower, stopping between your breasts. He breathes out slowly, as if willing himself to relax. He peppers gentle little kisses along your chest before he unclasps your bra and tosses it carelessly away.
“Suguru…?” you murmur before a gasp interrupts you as he fondles one of your breasts. His calloused thumb brushes over your perky nipple a few times, before pinching it between his fingers.
“The medication worked faster than I expected,” he whispers, dragging his tongue between your breasts. You let out a breathy moan. Your breasts have definitely become more tender and sensitive, drawing more reactions out of you that certainly please Geto to no end. While he hasn’t been so handsy on you since the last time Gojo came for a visit, he hasn’t let go of his particular fixation on this. Feasting on either these or on your cunt, depending on his mood. “You have the sweetest milk… I can’t stop thinking about it.”
How the hell are you supposed to react to that?
He playfully bites the little bud, making you whine from the light sting, before he sucks the nipple into his mouth. Groaning low and guttural as the rush of liquid hits his eager tongue, gulping it down dramatically.
He removes his mouth for a moment to speak.
“My pretty dove,” he coos, pressing a kiss to the drenched nipple. “My pretty Mamma.”
A record stops in your brain. Your eye almost twitches.
….what. The hell.
You know he wants you to be a mother to the twins, but…but…what the actual hell is this?
“I….um…” your voice fades like the end of a soundtrack. You don’t even have a comeback to that. It’s probably best you didn’t, because Geto raises his head to meet your eyes, his own violet hues shimmering with lust and something else too gut-wrenching to name.
Whatever it is, it’s probably some twisted amusement at your aversion to the way he addressed you.
“What, don’t like the idea of me submitting to you? Mamma?” he purrs, nuzzling his face between your breasts, kissing between them. You clench your teeth, biting down the smart retorts dying to slip from your cannon of a mouth. Not like you have any real power even if he did.
His fingers ghost down your waist and hips, and you shudder, chewing on your lip to bite back a moan. “Do you like it when I call you that?”
“Hell no,” you retaliate in a sharp tone, and a sadistic grin spreads across his face.
“Even better,” he jives, before seizing your opposite nipple and suckling hard, eager to drink more of your essence. The glug, glug, glug from his eager slurping and sucking makes you flush from embarrassment. It’s so gross. You hate that now you have to not only mother the girls, but to fulfill some more weird ass shit for Geto.
His lips come off your drenched nipple, finally, to give him a few moments to breathe but then he snakes down until his head is caught between your thighs. His fingers rub against your clothed pussy, tongue running along his lips.
“I think you’ve had enough time to cool off in the last two weeks since Satoru visited, don’t you think?” he muses out loud, peeling your panties aside to reveal your perfect cunt already coated in a light sheen from your slick. “Oh? Someone’s enjoyed themselves and they won’t admit it?”
Fucking piece of shit, you sneer in your mind.
Two fingers dip between your folds, sliding along them before they infiltrate your entrance.
“Suguru,” time to see how far this can go. “Satoru was way nicer back there. Why can’t you be like that?”
Geto freezes, but his fingers don’t exit, instead he continues to pump them in and out of you in a more slow, careful manner.
“Which of us do you prefer, Mamma?” he mutters, curious. “Do you really think he is more adept than I in treasuring you? He’s not even going to be here as much anymore.”
“Hm? Am I allowed to give you an answer, Suguru?” you retort in that feigned clueless tone, tilting your head. “I think you know the answer. But I am curious. Why do you let Satoru get under your skin like that, when you’re the one in control?”
Suguru bites back a sigh. “…It’s complicated, Mamma. Something you can’t understand.”
Oh, how you loathe the fact that he can talk to you like that.
Dragging out a mock sympathetic sigh, your hand rests on Geto’s hair as his fingers idky pump in and out of you. He purrs in approval before his mouth descends on your cunt, closing his lips over your folds and slurping on your slick.
“Suguru,” you whisper, “Put Satoru in the back of your mind. He’s not here most of the time like you said, so why does it matter what I think of him when you have me all to yourself now?”
You ignore the bile threatening to ooze from your mouth. God, this alone is dehumanizing to you, even if Geto insists you’re above such treatment.
“That’s true, Mamma,” he replies, his voice muffled against your soaking cunt, his tongue still eagerly laving along the sensitive skin. “And he won’t be back for another month…some mission with his students.”
“So then,” you reply in an uncharacteristically sultry tone. “What have you got to worry about, darling?”
He growls in approval, suckling harder on your slick folds, and you inhale sharply. Guess he likes being called that.
“You’re right,” he grunts, pulling away to speak. “You’re all mine.”
You just keep telling yourself that, buddy.
It’s not hard to tell Geto might have a strong oral fixation. If he wants to he would definitely stay like this, but he has his own duties to fulfill (none that you care to learn about), and you’re just his pretty little trophy.
God, life is such a thing, isn’t it?
You do have to admit he’s far too good at this to be real. Had he been a real lover and you might have enjoyed this a lot more…
He adjusts your legs, pushing your knees toward your chest as he rolls his tongue along your slick cunt. The little flicks of his tongue against your clit are soft yet just firm enough to make your back arch off tbe bed.
“That’s it, Mamma. Let go. Let me take care of you,” he coos before his tongue probes your entrance.
You hate that it feels kind of good. His grip on your legs tighten, his finger pads digging into your skin. His tongue works its magic, pushing into your gummy walls and you’re writhing, almost keening beneath him. You’re gonna come. When you do, it’s in a crescendo and all Geto does is laugh in pure delight.
Quiet times with the girls have come to be the moments you largely prefer. Mostly because Geto keeps his hands to himself and you find that the girls are the least of your worries. They are more or less easy to please. As long as they have the pleasure of your company, you don’t have any qualms or issues with them.
Geto still likes to keep close to you, though. Whether that means you sitting right in his lap around the twins or just seated next to him while they do their own thing. Either way, you’re not leaving his line of sight no matter what.
He adjusts you a bit, snuggling you in close to his chest and you can smell the notes of citrus and sandalwood from his strong cologne. Strangely a comforting scent never mind it’s radiating from his body.
Nanako and Mimiko are facing behind you while they do a few rounds of Mario Golf. Their attention’s completely away from the two of you so occasionally Geto’s hands will go to places where they shouldn’t but it’s not like you have a voice here. His large, calloused hands are resting on your thighs, fingers brushing against the skin ever so slightly. The robe is absolutely for easy access. Why make the job unnecessarily difficult?
“Suguru?” you whisper, audible enough so only he can hear you. You lift your head, nuzzling into his shoulder. Just play the long game. Don’t lose sight of your goal and that’s finding a way to get the fuck out of here.
“What is it, Mamma?” he whispers back, matching your tone. His eyes shine with something akin to affection. How quickly it seems he let his resolve around humanity crumble around you, at least. Perhaps he wants you to disengage the barriers you have around yourself. Whatever the reason, it doesn’t matter, because you don’t care, either way.
“It would be wise to be less indecent,” you warn in a low tone. “You want to be a better lover to me than Satoru, don’t you?”
“Of course, haven’t I proven that already?” he retorts as his hands venture to cup your ass cheeks. You curse under your breath. This guy really isn’t different from Gojo in a lot of ways. Tweedle-fucking-dee for sure.
He grabs one of your hands before you can have an appropriate reaction, guiding it under his robe, on his pelvis where he makes you caress his growing erection.
When the girls can glance behind them at any time to see their adoptive father behaving less than decent.
“Help me with this, and I’ll keep my hands off of you for the rest of the week if that’ll make you happy,” he demands into your skin before pressing a kiss to your forehead.
“Around the girls?” you retaliate harshly, careful not to raise your voice.
He lifts one of your legs to shield the view a bit, in case the girls do cast curious glances, which they indeed will.
“Better, Mamma?” he purrs, while guiding your hand before you move it on your own, utilizing the soft palm and heel of your hand to stimulate him. He bites back a low grunt, careful not to draw attention to the two of you while the girls are engrossed in their own worlds. It’s better for them that way. Better not to taint their innocence any more than it already has been, right?
If you can even call those girls innocent given how casually they discuss such tragedies they have witnessed so young in their life.
“Not by very much,” you finally answer through your clenched teeth. An idea flashes in your mind, but you don’t know if you can execute it well. It’s worth a shot.
“Don’t you think it’d be a bit better if we had a little more privacy, darling?” you ask while batting your eyelashes to sweeten the deal—no matter how gross you feel doing this—and all the while tracing little patterns along his clothed, straining erection that you can feel dampening. “As tempting as this is, I’d prefer if you could be freer to express yourself.”
“You’re right, Mamma,” he replies, glancing at the girls with a neutral expression before hoisting you up into his arms princess style. Your knee pushes against his pelvis, where you can still feel the dampness from his leaking cock, concealing it from sight, but barely. “They won’t miss us much.”
He effortlessly carries you away from the living area and strides down the hallway leading to his bedroom. You won’t ever call it yours; you don’t belong here, just like that family member of his told you. You have spared yourself some embarrassment, at the very least, as he rests you on your back on his bed with shocking gentleness.
“I know this will be your first,” he growls into your neck before trailing heated kisses along it while fully disrobing you. “But I will follow through on my promise. After this, I won’t touch you like this again for another week. That makes you happy, does it not?”
Like he actually cares, you think, but rather than rebuking with a snippy reply, you nod in response and a slow smile graces his sharp features before he pries your legs apart. He tuts when he notices you aren’t wet enough, inspecting with a few of his fingers digging into your folds. Your breath catches in your throat.
“There’s always a solution to these things.”
He moves to gather the appropriate supplies—lube. And a condom. He actually cares enough to wear a condom this time.
“I don’t want there to be any…unfortunate mishaps,” he states, as he wraps himself with a clean condom before squeezing a liberal amount of lube into his hands. “I don’t care to breed for more sorcerer children, considering the chances of that are already slim to none…I’m already happy with the family I have. You, the girls, the cult…Satoru…”
He pushes two fingers coated in lube into you without so much as a warning and you arch your back into the bed, gripping the sheets. He chuckles at your reaction, shaking his head.
“Even though you’ve experimented so much with your own toys, the way you behave is just so cute. So innocent, as if you don’t have your own dark, filthy desires you want to fulfill,” he babbles as he stretches you with a third finger. “It’s misleading considering what you choose to wear beneath your clothes, and what Satoru has found rummaging through your dresser. You want something like this, don’t you?”
Your face drops at that little tidbit of information—so they have been watching you for longer than you think, even going as far as invading your space? Before you even know they existed? This is insane.
“Not like this,” you confess, squeezing your eyes shut as the way he stretches your walls with his fingers burns so good but you don’t want to admit it. Even if it means staying in his good graces. As if you truly give a damn for no other reason than survival. You dare to prop yourself a bit on your elbows, glancing down as Geto continues to pump his fingers in and out of you. Sometimes he takes the time to admire the way your hole gapes, his lips parted slightly. A line of drool trickles down his chin and you grimace at the sight. What a fucking animal.
“Oh, you poor thing,” he coos condescendingly, popping his fingers out of your entrance while lining his protected cock to it. You swallow. It’s so huge. Sure, Gojo’s is big too, but not in terms of girth like with Geto’s.
Your eyes squeeze shut as a breathy shriek escapes your lips when the head finally breaches you. He coos and whispers sweet nothings to you, tries to comfort you by kneading your plush thighs as he inches the rest of his cock until you’re filled to the hilt. The stretch is so wide, brushing against your walls. Tears brimming at the corners of your eyes as you try to adjust. It’s nothing like how Gojo’s felt; it’s nothing like how your toys felt either because you have never taken anything nearly this size…
Geto cages your body with his, hands pressed to either side of your head as he leans into muffle your little whimpers and whines with a passionate kiss. He experiments with one gentle thrust, chuckling as your hands fly to grip tightly at his shoulders.
“Calm down,” he murmurs, having the gall to actually tell you that is maddening. “You’re alright. You’re taking me well. You feel perfect. So tight. Satoru must have really enjoyed that.”
Your eyes are still squeezed shut so you don’t bother to glare, just clinging onto him for dear life as he spares you with a few more gentle thrusts before finding a rhythm he’s happy with, because this is for his pleasure. This is all about him and nothing to do with you. Just smile and bear it. That’s all you can do here.
…Well, not all you can do.
“Stop thinking about Satoru unless you want me to bring up how much better his dick felt in there than yours,” you challenge as you dare to pry at least one eye open to get a view of Geto sprawled all over you with his dick balls deep inside. His body is already coated in glistening sweat and, in another world, you might have thought he was the hottest thing in existence. But you know the kind of ugly he is beneath those angelic features of his.
“Why are you telling me that, Mamma? Are you trying to upset me?” he shoots back, rolling his hips and thrusting harder, making you choke on a gasp. He smirks at that reaction in triumph.
“I’m telling you that to remind you to be better for me, darling,” you reply, sliding a hand down his hips, digging your nails as he adjusts his rhythm. Your eyes roll back as he hits that right spot, and, encouraged, he adjusts his rhythm again, brushing against that area over and over and over—
“—Fuck, Suguru!” you shout as you come, clenching around his girthy cock which feels surreal but horrifying considering this is not how you wanted your first time to be like. Even if it is technically good.
“Feel good, Mamma?” he purrs affectionately, but you can feel his dick twitching and he still feels so hard, like he’s got a long way to go before this is done. No wonder he’s offered a week of recovery following this… “Did I make you feel good?”
You bite back the menacing words you want to say and settle on, “Yes, darling. You made me feel so good. Now keep making me feel good so that you don’t have to be compared to—!”
“—Stop saying his name,” he growls, snapping his hips as he picks up a more erratic rhythm this time, rocking the bed and even making it creak a few times. “He’s not relevant here. This is about us, Mamma. Me and you. I get to make you feel good for as long as I desire, do you understand? Everything about Satoru is out of sight, out of mind here.”
Men are still men, in the end, you figure.
He doesn’t stop until finally, he comes, slipping his flaccid dick out and tossing the used condom away. But he doesn’t seem to want to stop at just one, as he tries to stroke his cock back to being fully erect.
He winks at you, grabbing another condom to slip back on.
“I’m sure you can tolerate a few more rounds, Mamma.”

Developing an Inner Safe Space for Parts
Note: This post was written for people with dissociative disorders, but anyone else can use the methods here if they're helpful!
This post is all about inner safe spaces! What is an inner safe space, though? Here's what Coping with Trauma-related Dissociation says:
"Inner safe spaces are images of places where you can be safe, relaxed, and cared for. These images have been shown to be helpful to many people, not just those with dissociative disorders. This type of imaginal activity is well known to produce a feeling of relaxation and well-being in those who use it regularly. If your inner experience feels so jarring, unsafe, and frightening, as it often does in individuals with dissociative disorders, the ability to imagine these spaces becomes especially important and helpful."
Inner safe spaces can be useful for many things. You can use it to relax & alleviate anxiety. It can be a tool for soothing dissociated parts of the self, or aide in your communication with them. You or other parts can enter your inner safe space to protect yourself from feeling overwhelmed or potential triggers. Overall, creating an inner safe space can help make your mind a safer, calmer place.
So, how do you make one? All you have to do is imagine it!
Your inner safe space can be anything you want to imagine. There are no rules and it can always be changed! You can create one imaginary place for all parts of your system to share & add to. Or, each part of your system can create their own inner safe spaces to match their own needs. Some people already experience some sort of inner world, too. This can always be changed in order to make it feel safer and calmer for all parts of the system.
🌟 Ideas for inner safe spaces:
Outdoor areas like a meadow, beach, forest, mountain, etc.
Buildings like a cabin, tree house, castle, library, etc.
Vehicles like a car, pirate ship, submarine, spacecraft, etc.
Something underground, underwater, in the sky, or in space.
An entire planet or world of your own.
A fictional world that brings you comfort.
An inner safe space isn't a safe space if it doesn't make you, including all parts of you, feel safe. A good place to start is by writing down things that make you feel safe. If you don't know what makes you feel safe, try looking at what makes you feel less unsafe. It might also help to ask a loved one or therapist for help!
Invite your system to include their own needs, too. Try not to judge them even if you disagree. It's important for all parts of the system to feel safe.
🌟 Ideas for things that you can add/adjust to make your inner safe space feel more comfortable:
Add games, food, and movies that you like
Create individual rooms for each part of the system
Give yourself an inner appearance that makes you happy
Add your favorite colors, sounds, smells, & sights
Add people, characters, animals & creatures that you like
Give yourself a comfortable bed, with soft blankets & maybe even some plushies
Add pride flags!
Create a protective force field around your safe space
You or other parts may want to have a safe space that no one else can intrude upon and that's okay. It's important to respect each other's privacy. You can also adjust the inner safe space to make communication between parts easier! For example, you could add intercoms, mailboxes, telephones, or even a meeting area for aiding communication.
🌟 Having trouble visualizing, or can't visualize things at all? Try...
Drawing or painting it.
Writing about it.
Building it. You can use a video game like the Sims (get it for free!) or Minecraft.
Basing it off of a real place.
Collecting photos/videos of what you want it to be like. You can find royalty-free images on Unsplash and Pixabay. Or you create a Pinterest account!
Filling a journal, document, blog, or discord server with pictures, writing, and anything you want about your inner safe space!
Trying guided exercises for creating inner safe spaces. (IMO this is best done with a therapist's help.)
Asking your friends, therapist, or loved ones for their suggestions.
Creating a physical safe space instead of an inner one.

luztoye week day three… so this isn’t what I’d planned to post. In fact this isn’t anything really, but it is a snippet for something— inspired by the day three prompt of sports aus, which I hope is sufficient for now. It’s a scene from a larger fic which… isn’t done yet. Sorry about that!
anyway here is some of the Rodeo AU, tomorrow I’m posting my pacific rim au :)
—
Joe just rolled his eyes, an easy dart to the side that barely committed to the movement. Sometimes they were both half-cocking it. But standing alone at the mouth of Two Pine Lake, George wasn’t sure who they were faking it for.
“Wanna give those Levi’s a wash?” He asked, his own legs were dangling in the water off the edge of the dock. “Water’s not too cold.”
“I’ve gotta wear this home.” Joe said, but he sat down next to George. He slipped off his boots and socks, cuffing his jeans up as far as they’d go to submerge his legs up to the ankle in cool lake water. He stifled a wince, covering the sentiment with a frown at George.
“I said not too cold. Never said it wasn’t cold.” George kicked at one of Joe’s feet underwater anyway. Creating ripples in the smooth surface of the water as he dragged across it with an indescribable noise. Something of a crash, something of a gurgling. The important part though, was that Joe heard it. He didn’t have to tell the story of The Creaky Dock And The Crashing, Gurgling Water. Joe was living it with him.
“It’s not so bad.” Joe conceded. If it weren’t for his truck’s high beams casting a haunting backlight over them, George wouldn’t have seen the upturn of Joe’s lips, the sparkle in his eyes. The small flyaways from Joe’s dark hair glowed yellow, almost white in the light. If he kept staring, George was pretty sure it'd blind him.
Instead, he dipped his head down to stare at the small expanse of wooden dock between them. He knocked his shoulder against Joe’s, jostling them both and causing the dock to shift again. Somewhere, deep in the water or even underground, the support beams had started moulding away, George was sure of it.
“If we drown out here at goddamn dusk, it’s your fault.”
“If you can survive whatever the hell that was today, I’m fairly certain you can survive anything, Joe.” Joe opened his hand for George to take, the light cast shadows over the ridges and lines in his palm. George laid his own hand overtop, linking their fingers easily. George couldn’t help the tendril of worry that creeped its way up his chest. “You took a beating.”
“I’m alright.”
“I’m gonna have you put it in your contract.”
“What’s that?”
“That you’ll tell me when you’re not alright.” He eyed him for a moment before dropping his head to Joe’s shoulder, letting his eyes wander over the expanse of the lake, then further, to the trees on the other side.
“You don’t have to worry.” Joe said, and he stroked his thumb across the back of George’s hand soothingly. George wasn’t sure if it was a measured, intentional action. Or if he’d done it absently.
“Well, I will.” George said indignantly. “You should take up something less worry-inducing. I hear stunt riding is great. You don’t fall off nearly so often.”
“You fell off last week, I saw you.”
“The horse wasn’t trying to throw me off. I just fucked up, that’s all. And anyway, I already have the perfect teacher all lined up for you.”
“Oh yeah?”
“Yeah, he won bronze at the County Finals just a few days ago.”
“Think he’ll do it for free?” Joe’s smile was clear, this time. Even though George wasn’t looking at him. He felt it in the lips Joe pressed to his hair. Still, like he didn’t notice he was doing it. George found that they were hip-to-hip, shoulder-to-shoulder. He hadn’t realised it until then, maybe there was something up, a mutual insanity. Neither of them knew that they were even moving anymore.
“Free? No. Discount, maybe.” The payout to a joke he’d been hoping to reach bubbled a giddy sort of feeling in his chest. It was overwhelming, he couldn’t even feel the lapping of the ripples and arcs in the water against his bare skin anymore.
What he could feel was Joe, warm and solid against him. He could feel the way Joe’s entire body moved, his shoulders rose and fell with each measured breath he took.
“Falling asleep on me?” He asked, voice soft. It was just them, the water and the crickets, out there. Not much competition to be found in the wind.
Joe hummed, he moved so that the bulk of his head was resting against George’s. He was supporting Joe and supported by Joe. What a pair they were.

Do you ever get overwhelmed by how much life there is in the world like plants are breathing, trees that have been here since before your great grandparents were born, oceans holding ancient waters teeming with shoals of fish and behemoths that can't even breath underwater but they still live there feeding on krill, moss growing in stone cracks and on cars that haven't been driven in years, the cats in your neighbourhood laying in the sun running around and catching rats, mushrooms sprouting from the mycelium underground, birds flying in the air swooping down to catch their food, fields of wheat swaying in the breeze
ahhhhhgg the beauty of life is insane and it's all real and alive

The Role of Submersible Pumps in Flood Management and Disaster Relief
Submersible pumps play a crucial role in flood management and disaster relief, providing essential services in mitigating the effects of flooding and aiding in recovery efforts. Their design and functionality make them well-suited for handling large volumes of water, even in challenging and hazardous conditions. Here's a look at how submersible pumps contribute to flood management and disaster relief:
1. Rapid Water Removal During Flooding
Efficient Water Pumping: Submersible pumps are designed to operate underwater, making them ideal for rapidly removing floodwater from affected areas. They can pump out large volumes of water quickly, reducing the risk of further damage to infrastructure, homes, and agricultural land.
Deployed in Various Settings: These pumps can be used in urban areas, rural regions, and industrial sites to prevent water from accumulating. They are commonly deployed in basements, tunnels, underground parking lots, and other low-lying areas where water tends to collect during floods.
2. Drainage and Dewatering in Emergency Situations
Emergency Response: In the aftermath of natural disasters like hurricanes, heavy rains, or tsunamis, Submersible Pumps are often deployed by emergency response teams to drain water from critical areas. This helps to restore access to roads, bridges, and essential infrastructure quickly, enabling faster relief efforts.
Supporting Rescue Operations: By rapidly dewatering flooded areas, submersible pumps make it easier for rescue teams to access affected zones, helping to save lives and prevent further injuries or casualties.
3. Mitigating Damage to Infrastructure
Protecting Critical Infrastructure: Floodwaters can cause extensive damage to infrastructure, including electrical systems, transportation networks, and public utilities. Submersible pumps help prevent water from reaching critical infrastructure, minimizing the extent of the damage and reducing repair costs.
Preventing Soil Erosion: By controlling the accumulation of floodwater, submersible pumps also help prevent soil erosion and landslides, which can further damage roads, bridges, and buildings.
4. Supporting Agricultural Recovery
Field Drainage: In agricultural settings, Submersible Pumps are used to drain flooded fields, helping to protect crops and soil quality. This is particularly important in preventing long-term agricultural damage and ensuring that farmers can resume production as quickly as possible after a flood.
Restoring Irrigation Systems: After a flood, irrigation systems may be compromised due to waterlogging or contamination. Submersible pumps can assist in draining excess water and restoring the functionality of these systems, enabling farmers to continue their operations.
5. Handling Contaminated Water
Pumping Contaminated Water: Floodwaters are often contaminated with pollutants, debris, and hazardous materials, posing a significant health risk. Submersible pumps designed to handle contaminated water can be deployed to remove these harmful substances, preventing the spread of disease and protecting public health.
Temporary Sewage Management: In some cases, floods can overwhelm sewage systems, leading to overflows. Submersible pumps can be used to manage these temporary sewage issues by pumping out contaminated water, reducing the risk of environmental contamination.
6. Portable and Versatile Solutions
Ease of Deployment: Submersible pumps are portable and can be quickly deployed in various disaster scenarios. Their versatility allows them to be used in different types of environments, from urban centers to remote rural areas, making them an essential tool in disaster relief operations.
Compact Design: The compact design of submersible pumps makes them easy to transport and deploy in hard-to-reach areas, where larger, more cumbersome equipment might not be feasible.
7. Supporting Long-Term Flood Management Strategies
Preventive Measures: Beyond immediate disaster relief, submersible pumps play a role in long-term flood management strategies. They are used in drainage systems, retention basins, and levee systems to control water levels and prevent flooding during heavy rains or storms.
Urban Planning: In flood-prone areas, submersible pumps are integrated into urban planning efforts to ensure that drainage systems are capable of handling extreme weather events, thereby reducing the risk of future flooding.
8. Durability and Reliability in Harsh Conditions
Robust Construction: Submersible pumps are built to withstand harsh conditions, including submersion in dirty, debris-laden water. This durability makes them reliable in emergency situations where other types of pumps might fail.
Continuous Operation: Many submersible pumps are designed for continuous operation, which is essential during prolonged flood events. Their ability to run non-stop ensures that water is continuously removed, preventing further accumulation.
Submersible pumps are indispensable tools in flood management and disaster relief, offering rapid, efficient, and reliable water removal in emergencies. Their versatility, durability, and ability to handle contaminated water make them essential for mitigating flood damage, protecting infrastructure, and supporting recovery efforts in the aftermath of natural disasters. As climate change increases the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events, the role of submersible pumps in managing floods and providing disaster relief will only become more critical. Second day
I’m sorry for the abrupt ending of the last… chapter. I had urgent business: Na’vis were close to finding me and, as I’ll explain later, I think it is of prime importance to stay unknown from the people of this planet: I’m certainly not an ordinary creature of Pandora, and this, for the Na’vi or the humans. And between being killed right off the hook and caught, trapped and experimented on… Well, I prefer the solitude of a quiet life, away from all kinds of civilisations… But enough with the rantling, let’s continue my story.
If the first hours of my… “arrival” on Pandora are blurry, the discovery and exploration of my home, along with my search for a proper way to sustain myself are deeply carved into my mind. When my body started to act, I tried hard to remember what the show Pokemon said about the diet of those creatures: curry, rice, fruits… Yeah, not nearly enough. The only thing I was able to think of was that perfectly useless memory of an episode where the pokedex said that the behavior of mudkip was unknown for it was a rare pokemon… While looking at my legs I had a sudden idea: I could try to eat the same food as the axolotl of my universe, which is composed of insects and little fishes. I looked at the lake with apprehension: I had no confidence in the control I had over my body and now, all of a sudden, the action of swimming was determining my immediate survival? Just as this thought crossed my mind, my plan to escape the viperwolves’ menace came back to my mind, convincing me of my sheer stupidity… As my stomach started to hurt, I decided to get into the water. The feeling of my dry skin rehydrating was incredibly pleasant and before I knew it, I dived, overwhelmed by that new feeling… I realized in what situation I had put myself into when I looked up to see the surface of the water, 3 or 4 meters away from me
Panicked, I started to move my body with all my might, including a certain limb that I had gained from my transformation and quickly forgot about: my tail. The movement of my tail projected me toward the light, but my unorganized movements were far from efficient and I started to run into circles. As my mind became clearer, controlling my fear, I realized two things: my tail was answering my orders like a fifth leg, and the gills on my cheeks were… Urgh, how can I describe it? they were… helping me to stay underwater by limiting my loss in… no not oxygene… Urgh, why is it so hard to convey!? Anyway, as I was saying, I tried my best to swim toward the surface with that new body of mine. After some time, I started to get the hang of how to use my tail and started to rise to a lotus. Of course, when I tried to climb on it, the weak plant sunk. Desperate and exhausted, I was considering letting myself drown while I was sinking with the large leaf, when I realized that the island wasn’t so far away from my current position. More than that, as I was going down, I saw something that was looking like a cave under the roots of the puffballs trees, surrounded by little fishes. My stomach rumbled and I decided to use my remaining forces to swim toward that providential food. However, I was still inexperienced, and caught nothing. Unable to go on any longer, I went into the cave and soon went up toward what I thought to be an air pocket… And there, I found it. My house. The discovery of the place I named The Roots hall will forever be a warm memory: the cave under the water was leading to a dry underground tunnel that was probably the result of erosion, the rest of the dirt held by the puffball trees' roots. Well, it’s only my theory. But the place was quite stunning: bioluminescent roots were helping me see in the dark environment of the cave, and strong rocks were stuck in one of the walls, forming a sort of mosaic. Sure, a little bit of decorating could help, but there was, in this place, a feeling of warmth and comfort that helped me be at ease. Suddenly, a delicate smell awoke my hunger. I stood up toward the source of the appetizing odor. There was nothing more than the ceiling, but I started to dig the dirt, oblivious of the risks. But the tangled roots were making it difficult. However, after a lot of effort, I finally got the object of my curiosity, without provoking the fall of the vault. In my paws were two yovo fruits. I considered the two fruits and decided to eat them: I was starving, and even if they weren’t edible, I wasn’t risking anything. After all, everything was a dream. I took a big bite of the first fruit… And finished it in a hurry: it was really delicious. I ate the second one at the same speed, and tried to find more. I smelled and discovered two more who joined the first ones. Full and exhausted, I fell asleep on the ground.
Now, before I finish this log, I would like to explain how I was able to hide from the Na'vi last day. I was using the laptop in the abandoned place I found it in, in order to have access to energy for the laptop battery. Never had I thought teens would come to that remote place. For two years, I've been a marshtomp, and my senses are much more precise than when I was a little mudkip. But I traded my little size, and greeter discretion for those… “enhancements”. I was then able to spot the youngins from quite the distance, but the problem with Na’vis is their agility and speed, so I was forced to hide with the laptop in my “arms”, unable to escape. The search of the teenagers in the ruins were, thanks Eywa, quite shallow, but wasn’t a pleasant moment nonetheless: the kids blocked the closet I was hiding in while playing, and their loud voices in a language I was barely understanding was quite unnerving. After a while, they decided to go away and I was able to escape without being seen, but it made me realize a lot of thing:
- when I’ll become a swampert, hiding from the locals will be quite the challenge
- the old terran post was no longer a safe place to write
- by direct consequences of the precedent point, the charging of my laptop was going to be quite the hassle
- I really hate teenagers
But for now, I’ll try to use the computer as little as possible while searching for a permanent source of energy…

Hi can you please do each of the slashers with a s/o who is a siren. Thanks
Slashers with a Siren!S/O
Ofc!!💞💓also i replaced Brahms w Vincent because idk I lost interest in him and he’s not very popular...anyone can message me if they still want Brahms!!
Thomas Hewitt
It’s obvious that as a siren you are shockingly beautiful, and Thomas was given that very effect from you with little effort
You give him this effect every single day, when he visits the underground springs to be with you.
He brings you multitude of things like flowers, pictures of his home, and trinkets he loves— things he knows don’t come from where you live.
You are deeply touched by this, and give him shells and beautiful rocks that you treasure as well, and talk to him for hours.
He cried when you sang to him, and for the rest of the hour he was wrapped silently in your loving arms as he wept💓
Jason Vorhees
He’s more calm than Thomas when he approaches you, as you peek your little head out of the shallows of the lake, and smile at him.
He’s winded, for sure, but he only marches into the current to meet you, scaring you off. He whines and calls for you, and you return with a shell as a gift💕
That shell is sitting on his altar to this day. He doesn’t go into the lake anymore, but he sits on the dock while you speak softly to him from the water below.
You sang to him once, and he stared at you for an hour, not looking away nor blinking💓🌼
He brings you flowers like Tommy, and is overcome with joy when you presented him a garland of all your collected flowers, and gave it to him as a crown💞
You drown the teenagers that threaten your waters, since Jason has crowned you in return queen of his Lake💗
Michael Myers
Michael wants to drag you away into his own area to keep you in a tank, though internally he knows it’s not possible.
His affections are violent, and often grabs your face without meaning to hurt you, to stare into your eyes and place a kiss to your lips💖
He insists you nestle into his lap, so he can stroke your fins and marvel at them. He’s extremely curious🌷he still views you as an item, but something beyond human life and gold and silver.
No one else is allowed to even look at you besides him. He brings you human sacrifices to win your heart
it works💞he also almost drowned himself trying to be with you, you barely remembered he needed air while y’all were making out underwater😂
He didn’t care tho💗
Bo Sinclair
He escaped to the shores from his home town when he found you, and he marched into the shallows like Jason but you instead went further out to meet him.💖
Initially he felt you luring him to you, and knew he would die, but he honestly didn’t care. In fact he enjoyed the thought of you being the one to end his life. Instead, he was met with a beautiful girl who outwardly expressed that they wanted to be with him forever💞💗
His stupid jokes and smugness don’t disappear completely, and he is THE MOST determined flirt with you🌷
He jokes that he’s a pirate and you’ve bewitched him into staying with you💞but we both know that’s not true😉you barely use your magic on him even though he kind of doesn’t care
You lure him into the sea with you sometimes, knowing you have that effect on him ✨ he gets annoyed sometimes because he’s used to being the one in control
He sings sea shanty’s he learned from you when he’s working in Ambrose💓 his brothers are beyond confused
Vincent
Cue that mf Hozier shit. The way your skin glistens and your alluring gaze sets him on fire.
Vincent would be blissfully confused as you lured him into the shores of an underground spring. You have an overwhelming effect on him, and he becomes massively aroused when he touches you💞💓
The way your hair floats in the waters and how smooth your skin is, and how swift you are in the shallows renders him without thought💞
He’s definitely at your mercy but has managed to get away from your grip multiple times.
Vincent is one of the more romantic slashers, but will be very shy when approaching you with affections or gifts. He was afraid of you from the beginning, but you were sweet and kind to him, so he stayed with you often💖

When you wake up, you’re lying facedown on a pallet in a dark and cold room. You groan, head pounding, and try to sit up, but your weak muscles protest, resulting in you rolling awkwardly onto your backside. Squinting up at the ceiling, you notice it is made of rock, as is the wall to the right of you.
Your head lolls to the left, granting you a lovely view of a red laser gate trapping you inside this strange cell. The faint glow it gives off produces barely enough light to reveal more rocky walls curving off to the side. You’re in a cave, you realize, processing everything at the rate of a snail’s pace, or some kind of underground tunnel.
At first you can’t remember how you ended up here, or what happened to you, but then everything hits you all at once.
“Finally,” a voice declares from beyond your cell. The purple twi’lek from earlier steps out of the shadows and leers at you from the other side of the laser gate. “I was beginning to think I misjudged the dosage.”
With monumental effort, you push yourself onto your knees, dizziness slamming into your skull with the brutal intensity of a hammer, and reach a hand out to summon your bow.
Nothing happens.
“What—why isn’t it—” The words are thick and clumsy, slurring together as if your tongue has forgotten how to form them individually. Closing your eyes to stop the room from spinning, you feel nothing but unbalanced and vulnerable. You try to speak again, taking a steadying breath. “What is wrong with me?”
“You’ve been collared. All the pets in the Moff’s collection wear one,” she answers, as casually as if she’s discussing the weather outside. “Keeps you from using your abilities and causing trouble.”
She has no reason to lie, but you still gasp when your trembling hand brushes against the metal band encircling your neck. Panicking, you pull on it without thinking, only for a responding jolt of electricity to shock your fingertips and fry every nerve ending in your body. You cry out at the pain, but the sound is drowned out by the twi’lek’s screech-like laughter.
“That never gets old,” she says, wiping an imaginary tear from her eye.
“Death,” you mutter hoarsely, closing your eyes again and breathing shallowly through your mouth. “Death is going to slaughter all of you.”
“Oh, pet, you just don’t get it, do you?“ Her voice is practically dripping with condescension as she coos at you, “The Moff wants you here because you’re precious to Death.”
Against your better judgement, you open your eyes to look at her, confused by the wide smile you see stretching across her face. At headquarters, Gideon and your superiors had seemed far more concerned about the fact you had a second soulmate rather than who it was you matched with. If Gideon is punishing you for being Din’s soulmate (a fate which you had no control over whatsoever), you can’t help thinking he must be insane or have a legitimate desire to have his body dismembered piece by bloody piece. There is no denying that Din will do anything he can to get you back. Even break the rules of the universe.
You freeze.
Kriff. The puzzle pieces begin fitting together and you loathe the hideous picture they form.
“You are Death’s weakness. And anyone with a weakness can be taken advantage of if the right strings are pulled,” the twi’lek says, confirming your fears. She then winks at you coyly. “Congratulations, pet, you’ve just become Moff Gideon’s favorite puppet.”
You barely refrain from shouting curses at her as she walks away, leaving you alone with your chaotic thoughts.
Lying back down on the pallet, you press your hands over your eyes, tuning out the coldness of your surroundings and seeking out the warmth of your soulmate bond. You call out Din’s name within your mind, a repetitive chant increasing in urgency as you pray against all odds he hears you. But as the silence continues and you start to feel a phantom sensation of pain emanating from your throat, as if you have actually scraped it raw by how loudly you call, your heart breaks as it accepts the bitter truth: he can’t hear you.
You touch the collar again, every internal instinct you have screaming it is to blame for the invisible wall blocking you from reaching out to Din. How long have you been collared? How much time has passed since you were drugged at headquarters? Regardless, you don’t have any doubt Din is losing his mind right now. And his temper.
A few tears leak from the corners of your eyes, but you do not sob or sniffle. Gideon and his minions will not have the satisfaction of hearing you crying. Din wouldn’t like it either, you think, remembering his reaction on the Razor Crest when he’d found you panicking. He had held your hand, offering you any support he could to end your sorrows. Even offering to kill for you.
It’s funny, though, because few people seem to realize the feeling is mutual. You would do anything in the galaxy to spare Din a second’s worth of pain. If Gideon is under the impression you’ll just silently let him use you in order to exploit Din to do his bidding, then he’s going to be thoroughly pissed to learn just how stubborn you can be. Taking away your Cupid abilities might have weakened you, but you’re not going to be a helpless kriffing damsel.
Although, you correct yourself ruefully as you lower your hands and look around your confines, you might currently be a little helpless. You take in the high ceiling above you, thinking you’ll be able to stand at full height once the effects of the drug wear off and still not be able to touch the top. It scares you to think how far your cell has been dug beneath the surface of whichever planet Gideon has imprisoned you on. The twi’lek had referenced he had a collection of others hidden away in these tunnels. How many have died here with no one up above being any the wiser?
Pushing the morbid thoughts aside, your gaze drifts along the walls, noting the varying shapes and sizes of the rocks. They are all different shades of brown except for one odd green one in the corner. You look at the laser gate, knowing it can’t be shut off unless you have access to the generator which severely limits your plans of escaping since—
Your thoughts screech to a halt as your eyes snap back to the corner.
A rock does not have a little green body clothed in brown wool or long pointed ears. Nor does it peer back at you with large, innocent eyes as it clutches a piece of dirty black fabric with tiny three-fingered hands. And it certainly doesn’t waddle up to you and coo curiously in your stunned face.
You rub at your eyes, half-convinced you have now begun hallucinating things.
Nope. That little green face is still there when you open them again. It’s official, your brain isn’t screwing with you.
Your cellmate is a kriffing baby.
~~
Decades ago Din was approached by a man who begged to be killed. He had been separated from his soulmate against his will and compared the pain he felt to the sensation of a thousand needles injecting acid straight into his bloodstream. However, Din had sensed the man’s lifetime was far from over and ignored his pleas.
Thinking about that incident now, Din has determined the man’s comparison to be a gross understatement. Being forcefully separated from his angel is as if an invisible force is holding him underwater, wishing him to drown. His brain is on the verge of exploding, torn between thoughts of bloodthirsty savagery and the overwhelming agony of not being able to breathe without her in his sight. Every hour they remain apart threatens to rob him of his sanity and transform his outward appearance from man to monster.
Already he has experienced a lapse in control of his powers the moment he’d first felt their bond had been blocked. He’d been forced to teleport away from Kuiil’s farm, lest he risk reaping the Ugnaught’s soul before its destined time, and unleashed his wrath upon an uninhabitable Outer Rim planet. His powers had pierced its core in the same effortless manner a vibroblade cuts through flesh, killing its essence instantaneously. In a matter of minutes, the planet would be nothing more than scattered dust particles floating through the vastness of space, though he did not linger to witness the destruction.
Instead, he returned to his ship and sent a holographic message to his most trusted reapers, assigning them the critical task of searching the galaxy for one specific target: Valin Hess. While they hunted down the bastard, he dedicated his time to searching for his better half. He extended his powers to each individual planet and moon in every region, tendrils of darkness looking through homes and alleyways for even the faintest trace of her vibrant aura amongst trillions of souls.
Now, ten hours later, he is interrupted by the chime of an incoming call.
“Come to Trask,” Bo-Katan says bluntly, not one to waste crucial time with excess words. “I've got him ready for you.”
“Good,” Din says. His own voice sounds strange even to himself. As he reaches for his helmet, his reflection in its visor reveals his eyes have changed from brown to solid black, his true form beginning to break through the human facade he cloaks himself in.
He had been warned in the past of the grievous consequences that will ripple across the galaxy should he ever lose control of his internal darkness. But if unleashing that force brings him even one step closer to reuniting with his angel?
He won’t even hesitate a heartbeat.
~~
You are quick to learn three important facts about your cellmate.
First and foremost, the baby adores attention. Within minutes of discovering him, he climbs into your lap and snuggles against your stomach, making a strange purring sound of happiness. Your heart squeezes painfully in your chest when you notice the tiny collar around his neck, identical to yours. Why would Gideon be keeping a child in his collection? Any potential answer that comes to mind makes you feel sick.
“You’re safe with me,” you tell him gently, stroking your fingertips over his wrinkly brow and the sparse amount of fuzzy hair on top of his head. He coos as if he understands you, ears perking up. “We’ll get through this together.”
Secondly, he is extremely possessive of his belongings. You learn this the hard way when you reach for the torn piece of black fabric he has gripped in his hands, intending to get a closer look at it because it doesn’t resemble a usual child’s blanket, but instead more so a torn bit of clothing—only for surprisingly sharp teeth to nip at your fingers.
You pull your hand away and hold it up, showing you mean no harm. “I’m sorry, bud. I should have asked permission first.”
Brown eyes stare back at you for a silent beat, painfully reminding you so much of Din you almost can’t bear to look at them, before the baby bobs his head with a low grunt. You chuckle at his cuteness. Although you hate the unfairness of the situation, you’re grateful for his presence as it stops you from worrying incessantly about your disconnected bond. As long as you wear the collar, you remind yourself, there isn’t anything you can do to reach Din. So you’ll just have to continue being patient and live with the uncomfortable hollow sensation until you can determine the best opportunity of freeing yourself.
And the baby now, too, you can’t help but silently add, looking down at him.
It is impossible for you within your cell to tell how much time passes as there are not any nearby clocks or windows providing a glimpse of the sky. As a Cupid, nourishment isn’t a necessity like it is for mortals, so you’re unsurprised no one has come by to offer you food or water. However, the same apparently can’t be said for the baby whose stomach growls unexpectedly, startling you both with its loudness.
He looks down at himself then at the laser gate. His ears twitch, as if he hears something, before he lets out a quiet whine. You open your mouth, wanting to console him, only for him to push himself out of your lap and waddle quicker than you anticipate towards the corner you initially spotted him in.
Thirdly, he is a master escape artist.
“What—” you start to ask, only for your jaw to drop when he squeezes himself through a small hole you failed to notice earlier, no bigger in diameter than a womp rat’s body, and disappears from view.
You stare at the corner, a million questions swirling inside your brain, each one focused on the baby. Where the kriff did he go? What is on the other side of the wall? Will he be okay?
The laser gate abruptly vanishes, plunging your cell into total darkness. You immediately press your back against the wall, blinking rapidly to try to adjust your vision, but you can’t even see your own hands in front of you. There is a distinct clicking sound of a button being pressed and then a glowing black blade lights up mere inches away from the side of your face, nearly singing your hair. You’re unable to stop yourself from crying out in terror, flinching backwards and hitting your head hard enough you see stars.
Over the pounding of your heartbeat and the eerie humming of the weapon next to your ear, you hear a familiar chuckle.
You freeze. Dank farrik.
“Believe it or not,” Gideon begins, looming ominously in the darkness. “I remember our first meeting when you awoke after your transformation. You weren’t special by any means, not one detail even remotely suggesting you would become such an invaluable asset to my plans. I’ve come to realize your unmemorable appearance was the universe’s attempt of concealing you from me. It might have worked, too, except the universe is a hopeless romantic, unable to help itself from matching soulmates. How else can it be explained why you were chosen out of all potential Cupids to monitor Death each month, thus increasing your affections for each other, if not for fate’s divine intervention?”
Gideon lifts the blade away from your personal space and holds it in front of him, outlining his features enough you’re able to see him peering down at you, expression blank and giving you no hints as to what is going on inside his head right now. “Your capture has driven Death into quite a frenzy. His influence can be felt in each region of space. Even his reapers have become involved.”
He pauses, as if he’s expecting a response from you, but you’re unable to look away from the laser sword in his grip. You wonder if all seraphs possess them, such as all Cupids wield bows, or if he had it specially crafted for his own pleasure. Regardless, the negative energy it radiates is strong enough that you feel as if dozens of spiders are crawling over every inch of your entire body.
“Your soulmate has no notion of my involvement, but even if it were revealed to him you are being kept here I thoroughly warded this location to hide myself from those intending me harm. Your presence will continue to remain invisible to his powers as long as he desires bloodshed. So I suggest you better make yourself comfortable because this cell shall be your home for the foreseeable future.”
Swallowing against your suddenly dry throat, you ask, “Do you honestly think keeping me hostage will grant you control over him?”
Gideon inclines his head. “I think you underestimate his willingness to guarantee your safety. He’ll commit any sin imaginable if it means not one hair harmed on your head.”
“Death won’t listen to a single word unless he has proof I’m okay,” you say, the beginnings of a risky plan forming in your head. “Which means you have to let me talk to him.”
“I’m not the fool you think I am,” he replies, shaking his head in a reproachful manner, as if you are no older than a child. But your hopes rise when you notice there is the smallest glimmer of intrigue in his eyes.
You position yourself on your knees, eyes wide and brimming with tears, clasping your hands together as you start to beg. “Please, sir, the separation is tearing me apart. I can’t handle the pain anymore. I must see him. I’ll convince Death to kill whoever in the galaxy you want. He’ll do it without question if I’m the one who asks.”
Gideon considers you wordlessly for a long moment. The hum of the weapon and your heavy, anxious breathing are the only audible sounds. And in that moment you pray harder than you’ve ever prayed in your entire lifetime.
Let this work. Please, please let this work.
You know the exact second he gives in to your begging because a smile pulls at the corners of his mouth, teeth bared almost predatorily.
“Very well then. Tomorrow I will make preparations for you to contact Death. Think carefully until then about what you will say in order to convince him to be agreeable with me. It would be a shame to use this ,” his sword hovers in front of your face once more, the tip nearly touching your chin, “to cut off your tongue should you fail or if you attempt to be clever and alert him of your whereabouts.”
Step one complete, you think to yourself after he has departed and the laser gate returns. Wiping away the lingering tears, you begin to plan step two.
Getting this kriffing collar off your neck.
~~
Valin Hess is every bit the smug bastard Din predicted him to be. Despite the binders securing his wrists to a pipe high above his head and his bleeding split lip, the high-ranking Cupid still has enough arrogance to smirk at Din when he arrives at the abandoned warehouse Bo-Katan chose as the setting for the interrogation.
“Tell me where she is,” Din demands through clenched teeth as he marches up to the pompous prick without sparing a glance towards the red-haired reaper silently leaning against the nearby wall. He knows Bo-Katan is smart enough not to intervene.
“Just who would you be referring to?” Hess blinks innocently back at him.
His nose crumples beneath the knuckles of Din’s fist, blood bursting from his nostrils and staining Din’s gloves crimson.
“I am not known for my patience,” Din says. “Your suffering will only worsen the longer you keep me from my soulmate. I know you are aware of where she’s being kept. So tell. Me. Now.”
Untamed fury burns hotly beneath his skin, threatening to incinerate his mortal guise and his armor as if both were made of paper. It takes all of Din’s self-control not to give into the wicked desire to break each one of the Cupid’s bones, to peel off his skin layer by layer, to twist and carve and scar his body until there is not a single identifiable feature left.
“I haven’t the faintest notion nor care where she wound up.” Hess’ naturally gruff voice has changed to a nasally sounding one due to his broken nose. If the response hadn’t further stirred Din’s annoyance, he might have smirked beneath his helmet instead of snarled. “As soon as that twi’lek dragged her unconscious body out of headquarters, she became a nonentity to me.”
Din places his gloved hands over the other immortal’s shoulders, resting them there long enough Hess starts to twitch, unable to hide his increasing panic, and then Din squeezes until both clavicles shatter at the same time with a resounding crack . Hess tosses his head back, howling like a wounded animal, but Din is not yet finished.
He slams his fists against Hess’ torso, growling loud enough to be heard over the merciless snapping of each individual rib, “Give me a name.”
When the only answer he receives is agonized screaming, Din decides another approach is necessary to produce the desired results. He rips his gloves off, this time unable to resist smirking when Hess immediately starts to choke on his tongue and blood as he shakes his head emphatically, eyes blown wide with fear.
Din’s fingers reach out towards the Cupid’s temples, the veins in his hands ominously black in color.
“Xi’an!” Hess shouts, blood spraying from his mouth and painting Din’s visor. He doesn’t even notice, already planning the hunt for his next target. “The twi’lek that took your whore is named Xi’an!”
Din stills. “My... whore?”
Every lightbulb within the warehouse shatters, glass and sparks raining down upon them and the concrete floor. Hess starts babbling, a litany of apologetic words, but Din is beyond reasoning. Something sinister and feral has awakened within him, intertwining itself with his powers and enhancing their strength beyond what he ever imagined possible.
Din has reaped countless souls over the span of his existence. He has mastered the precise method of coaxing a soul out of a corpse, persuading them gently with his powers. Once the essence is held within his grip, the universe judges it, deciding either eternal damnation or a glorious afterlife. Most people tend to think Din is who chooses their fates, one of the many reasons why they fear him, but he has never been powerful enough to personally influence anyone’s destiny.
Until now.
He lowers one hand to hover over the center of Hess’ sternum, sensing the soul living deep within. It is a little battered from Din’s assault, but otherwise it resembles every other soul he’s ever reaped: a glowing, fidgety, amorphous bundle of energy.
Usually, he’d patiently guide the soul towards the corpse’s esophagus. But Hess is undeserving of such kindness. Din’s powers sink into the essence like sharpened claws, yanking it into Hess’ throat. The soul puts up a valiant fight, recognizing its host is still alive and thus should not be prematurely abandoned. But Din will not yield to its struggles, his powers manifesting dark tendrils to wrap around it in an unbreakable hold.
“You’re killing him!” Din hears someone call out over the harsh choking sounds Hess is making. Their voice is familiar and feminine sounding. “It’s not his time, you have to stop!”
Stop? No. He can’t. Not now when he’s on the verge of fulfilling the oath he’d sworn to his angel.
With one forceful twist of his wrist, the soul is helplessly torn from Hess’ bloodstained mouth and ensnared by Din’s awaiting hand. Without the essence of life, the light fades from the Cupid’s eyes and his broken body hangs limply from the binders.
The afterlife was never going to be an option as the soul’s final destination. However, Din has decided damnation is also too kind a place for vermin like Hess. There must be a third fate, he thinks.
Din squeezes his fist tighter and tighter, generating a cacophony of anguished shrieks from the soul. Ignoring the near-deafening cries, he gradually increases the pressure until at last it lets out one final high-pitched wail before disintegrating into dust that forms an unsuspecting pile on the floor when he uncurls his fingers.
A sharp gasp has Din turning, forgetting he has a witness present, and he finds Bo-Katan staring back at him with blatant horror. “What have you done?”
“What was necessary.”

Only One Choice, Chapter 5
Read it here on AO3 / Tagging @today-in-fic
They’re sitting in the car outside her mother’s house, and she’s stalling.
“Are we going inside?” Ethan asks with a confused smile, and she nods wearily.
She’s been dreading telling her family. Well, not her mother; Mom will be thrilled, as will Bill. Charlie will act appropriately happy but doesn’t actually care that much. But Missy….Missy will see right through her. She always does.
They exit the car and make their way to the front porch, her stomach twisting in her gut all the way. Ethan knocks, casting her concerned glances intermittently. She knows she’s not playing the part of “recently engaged” very well. She’s told Ethan that it’s just nerves, and that she hates making big announcements, which is true. She’s still trying to convince herself that’s all it is.
The door swings open and Charlie greets them with smiles and quick hugs, and they make their way to the kitchen where Mom is still finishing up dinner.
“Grab some wine and take a seat,” she directs them as they each kiss her on the cheek, “Missy should be here any minute.”
She pours herself a very full glass of wine after asking Ethan if he can drive home, then plants herself in an armchair that only seats one. She’s been craving personal space lately.
Ten minutes later, Missy breezes in the door, giving Dana a skeptical glance; leave it to Missy to immediately pick up on something being off. They better get this over with soon.
They all sit down and say grace. Missy holds her left hand and she can feel the moment her fingers make contact with the ring. Missy yanks on her arm and gives her wide eyes as everyone else at the table thanks the lord for their daily bread. Dana glances at her briefly and then looks away. It will all be out in the open momentarily.
“Before we dig into this lovely meal Mom has prepared for us,” Ethan begins, “Dana and I have some news to share.”
Oh god, here it comes. Maybe the huge glass of wine was a bad idea.
“Am I gonna be an uncle, D?!” Charlie says excitedly, and both she and Maggie shoot him an unamused glare.
“Not just yet, Charlie,” Ethan says with a cautious smile. “Dana and I got engaged. We’re getting married!”
Dana holds up her left hand with a thin smile, and Maggie and Charlie both provide appropriately big, happy reactions complete with hugs and congratulatory slaps on the back. Missy raises her eyebrows and looks at her baby sister with a bemused expression.
“Oh, this is such happy news, I wish your father could be here,” Maggie says, clutching her hand to her chest. “We’ll have to call Bill and Tara after dinner.”
Dana forces bites of pot roast down her throat and avoids her sister’s eye for the following twenty minutes, then leaves Ethan and her mother to share the news with Bill as she escapes to the back porch. Charlie, as usual, finds his way to the couch with a beer.
She’s sitting on the steps of the porch, working on her second glass of wine, when she hears the creak of the screen door behind her. She doesn't need to look to know that it’s Missy; she can hear the swish of her flowy skirt and the jangle of her stacked bracelets. Missy sits down beside her and they are quiet for a few minutes, the dark night illuminated by a waxing crescent moon.
“Is this really what you want, Sis?” Missy asks in a tone that’s soft and concerned.
“Of course, Missy. Ethan and I have been talking about getting married for years,” she says, hoping it sounds more convincing than it feels.
“I know. But…” she trails off and sighs.
“But what?” Dana prods her.
“Look, Sis, Ethan is great. I love him, and he’ll make a great husband. I’m just not sure he’s the right one for you.” Dana can feel her sister looking at her in the dim light, but keeps her eyes on the blooming hydrangea bush at the bottom of the stairs.
“He’s a great guy, Missy. He’s kind, and generous, and he has a stable job. He treats me really well. There’s no reason NOT to marry him,” she offers, taking a big gulp of her wine. “Dad loved him, he’d be so happy to know we got married,” she adds.
Missy scoffs. “Two years underground and you’re still trying to please Dad?”
“He was cremated, Missy,” she replies deadpan, avoiding the point.
“Okay, so two years underwater, then. Doesn’t change the fact that Dad liking him isn’t a reason to marry someone. Neither is them being great husband material. The only reason to marry someone is because you want to marry them. Do you want to marry Ethan?” She can feel Missy’s eyes on her face.
“Yes,” she says in a weak voice, unwilling to elaborate.
Missy sighs. “Okay, if this is what you want, I’ll be here to help you in whatever way you need. But if you change your mind-”
“-I’m not going to change my mind, Missy,” she cuts her off.
“Well,” Missy continues, “whatever happens, I’ll be here. Thick and thin, right?”
Dana looks at her sister then, and smiles as they clasp hands. “Thick and thin.”
&&
The following week, she takes herself out for Sunday afternoon coffee to one of her favorite places near the apartment. She likes to go out alone for coffee or lunch sometimes, just to have some space to think. Lately, she’s been needing a lot of it. The cafe is bustling with the after-church crowd, which makes her feel guilty for not going to mass with her mother. It’s difficult to talk to Mom right now; all she wants to do is talk about the wedding, and that’s the last thing Dana wants to discuss. Ethan wants to get married soon, this fall, and the whole thing is so overwhelming she shuts down every time they try to talk to her about it. She wishes she could pause life for a while, until she can sort out her feelings.
“Fancy meeting you here,” she hears a familiar voice call from beside her, and she looks up to see Mulder, dressed casually in jeans and a grey T-shirt.
She smiles reflexively, the first time she’s felt a real smile tug at her lips in a week or more.
“Mulder, hi,” she says, genuinely pleased to see him. “What are you doing here?”
“Oh, this place is right near my dealer’s house,” he responds, and flashes her that boyish grin at her shocked expression. “I was actually just checking out a record store around the corner and decided to grab some coffee. How are you?” The question feels so real, like he actually wants to know how she is. She doesn’t want him to leave.
“I’m well, would you like to sit down?” she says as she gestures to the empty seat across from her, pulling her hand back when she realizes that he’ll likely notice her ring. She surreptitiously slips it off her finger and tucks it into her pants pocket.
He sits, and she can’t help but take in the way his shirt hugs his broad shoulders, and the hint of defined pectorals underneath. He is a seriously good-looking man.
“So, whatcha been up to?” He asks, taking a sip from his to-go cup.
She should tell him the happy news that she’s gotten engaged, but she very much doesn’t want to.
“Not much, just cutting up dead bodies and teaching others how to do the same,” she responds dryly.
“Slicin’ and dicin’,” he says with a nod, and she feels a sense of relief at being able to make such a crass joke to someone who understands the kind of work she does.
“Exactly. How about you, working on anything interesting?” she asks, and never has a social nicety been more genuine.
“That depends on your definition of interesting, I suppose,” he begins, “we’ve got the face mutilator, the acid thrower, and the super-stabber, who you’re familiar with.”
“Quite the line up,” she retorts.
“I realize I didn’t get the chance to ask how you ended up at the Academy,” he inquires.
“Oh, um I was actually recruited out of medical school,” she replies, taking a sip of her coffee.
His eyebrows jump and he leans forward a bit. “You’re a doctor, then?” he asks, and she gauges only that he’s impressed, not surprised, which is a nice change of pace. People don’t seem to realize that it’s not a compliment to express disbelief that she, of all people, would be a medical doctor.
“Mmhmm, all pathologists are trained medical doctors,” she confirms with a nod.
“Your parents must be very proud,” he offers, and she makes a face.
“Not exactly. My father actually passed away a couple years ago, but he was less than pleased with my decision not to pursue medicine as a career. My mom is moderately more supportive, thankfully.”
She catches his eye and is surprised by the intensity of the look he’s giving her.
“I’m sorry to hear about your father,” he says as though he knew the man, and it catches her off guard a bit. She changes the subject.
“What about the X files, anything interesting happening there?”
“Well, no, given that they don’t exist anymore. You wanna hear about an old one I investigated?”
She nods emphatically.
“There was this team of researchers up in Icy Cape, Alaska. They were geophysicists, drilling ice core samples. They’d been up there a few weeks when there was an odd video communication received from one of the research team members saying “we are not who we are” before he shot himself in the head, then all communication went dark.”
“What happened to them?” Scully asks, leaning towards him. She’s immediately drawn in.
“Well, that’s what we went up there to find out; myself a physician, toxicologist and a geologist. When we got there, the whole crew was dead, only a dog that belonged to one of them survived. He appeared to be rabid, and he attacked me and our pilot. When we examined the dog, he had these black nodules on his skin.”
“That sounds like a symptom of bubonic plague,” Scully offers.
“That’s what Dr. Hodge thought too. Anyway, the pilot ended up getting infected as well, and we had to restrain him and remove this worm-thing from his neck. He died immediately after we removed it.”
“A worm-thing?” Scully asks, “what was it?”
“I’m still not entirely sure. The geologist found an ice core sample that was probably over 250,000 years old, and I think the worm came from the ice. Some kind of prehistoric parasite that overtakes its host. We eventually figured out that to kill it, you have to introduce a second worm into the host, and they’ll destroy each other.”
“Why haven’t I ever heard about this? It seems like the kind of discovery that would make the news, at least in the science community,” her mind is reeling, now with excitement.
“Well, that’s the thing. After we were evacuated, they destroyed the drill site and all the evidence.”
“They?” she inquires. “Who is ‘they’?”
Mulder smiles knowingly and she has the overwhelming urge to touch him.
“That’s the million dollar question, Scully. That’s what the X files sought to answer. Who, or what, is behind the mass coverup of information that would prove the existence of extraterrestrial life?” He says it so casually, like it’s the most irrefutable fact in the world instead of some half-cocked conspiracy theory.
“Huh,” she sits back in her chair. “Are there a lot of cases like that one? In the X files?”
Mulder’s mouth quirks, and she can tell that he’s pleased by her interest in his old work.
“Hundreds, though I only have about fifty in my possession. I took the juiciest ones, of course.”
“What else is there? Tell me about another one,” she asks unabashedly. She’s fascinated.
Mulder looks at his watch and makes a face. “I wish I could, but I have a prior engagement. I have them stored at my apartment, I could show you sometime, if you’d like. Do you like cats?”
Her eyebrows lift. “Is there an X file about cats?” she asks, and he laughs.
“No. Well, actually yes, but I’m asking because I have a cat. You aren’t allergic, are you?”
“Oh, no,” she says as she feels her cheeks warm.
He reaches into his wallet and hands her his business card. “Give me a call, or shoot me an email. I’ll show you what the FBI doesn’t want you to see,” he punctuates this with a wag of his eyebrows as he stands. “It was really good to see you, Scully,” he says with an earnest look, those eyes seemingly seeing right through her.
She swallows hard. “You too, Mulder,” she replies, and watches him walk out the cafe door.
She looks down at the business card in her hands:
Fox W. Mulder
Criminal Behavioral Analyst
Behavioral Science Unit
She wonders what the W stands for. She wonders why she cares.

Mermay ended yesterday, but I’m sitting on the beach at this very moment so let’s fucking do this:
🌴🐬BEACH HEAD CANNONS!!!🐬🌴
Chara
❤️ They are actually rather neutral over the ocean. Far more of a skipping stones and playing in the lake kind of kid. Though, they do have a respect for the water’s raw power and changing tides. (Also seeing how much Undyne loves it made them want to appreciate the ocean more)
❤️ Thanks to being attached to Frisk’s soul, they kinda have to go to the beach all the time now. They like to go out as far as they can and walk along to the bottom, or float above Frisk and try to freak them out.
❤️ All that being said, they ADORE sharks. They nerd out every time they get to go to the aquarium. (Then get kinda embarrassed about it).
❤️ They have (on more than one occasion) convinced Frisk that because they’re a ghost they can see all the ghosts of everyone who’s drowned, and that yes, pirates ARE coming to get them...... It backfired at the notion that now Frisk WANTED to go meet the ghost pirates.
❤️ Had a brief period of wanting to be a mermaid, purely because A) Not a human and B) Typically man eaters. It suited their style
Frisk
❤️ They LOVE the ocean.... or rather, they love the beach. There’s one right at the edge of Ebbott City, so in the summer, they get to go up every weekend or so. And you can bet on that weekend, they have an absolute ball with whomever family/friend took them this time.
❤️ Their favorite part is exploring. They love to run around on the beach, looking for shells or any critters, as well as going out into as deep as the can in the ocean (usually only to be called back by their mom). Speak of the devil, Toriel bought them a snorkeling kit for their gotcha day and that thing has been used religiously ever since!
❤️ Every time they go the the car to go home, Frisk has to be checked by an adult (not either of the skelebros, they are WAY to lenient on this one) to make sure that they don’t have any stow away sea critters. One too many times of Frisk trying to keep a pet crab.
❤️ They take swimming lessons from Undyne! There were only a couple of misunderstandings over wether or not a humans could breathe underwater, but its all been sorted out! They’re doing really well!
❤️ They refuse to learn how to dive. Undyne has been trying to teach them for MONTHS now. It’s cannon ball or nothing, and they’re determined to keep it that way.
Flowey
❤️ Back when he was Asriel, he’d wanted to see the ocean. They don’t exactly have HUGE bodies of water in the underground like that, basically only the river. And no one swims in the river. Add in Chara’s talk of mermaids and their stories about lakes and skipping stones and all that.... It had been a big goal of his. Now that he’s there, and without the capabilities to swim or get in the water, and without the person who said they’d show him the surf.... it’s uh, it’s lost its appeal.
❤️ Frisk and Papyrus tried to get him to go out in one of those dog floaties. It looked pretty ridiculous and nearly tipped over a couple of times. Inevitably it was decided that it was just best to just keep him on the shore or in the shallows strapped to someone’s chest.
❤️ Usually he just sits on the shore with Paps, Frisk, or Toriel. He (begrudgingly) likes to make sand castles. He’s actually gotten quite good at them. Either that or eat nice cream.
❤️ Papyrus made him tiny sunglasses. He wears them every time they go to the beach.
❤️ When he does go into the water, he likes to stick his head under the serf and try to find fish. He actually managed to catch one in his mouth once, both impressive and terrifying.
Toriel
❤️ She is fond of the beach. Not so much the water, but she does enjoy the occasional swim with Frisk. Would probably like going out on a boat, though she has never tried it.
❤️ Usually while the rest of the family swims, she’s on the shore in her beach chair, reading a good book and keeping a watchful eye on her kids. She can usually get through half of the thing before its time to go home.
❤️ That being said, when she does go out in the water (usually to cool off or check on Frisk and/or Flowey) she is remarkably good at floating along. That, and she’s abit of a beast when it comes to X-treme monkey in the middle. That lady is huge and can use that height when she needs to. Also she has to shake off when she gets out of the water.
❤️ She ALWAYS has a beach bag on her, and in that beach bag is pretty much anything you’d ever hope to need. Pool toys, goggles, fresh water, extra sunscreen, at least three books, money, Your scocial security number, you name it.
❤️ Toriel’s usually the go to ‘hold tired swimmer gently’ person. And has done so for everyone in the main cast but Mettaton and Undyne. You could just fall asleep in those big ole’ arms.
Sans
❤️ He’s, as with most things, pretty nuetral about the ocean. Though, he adores the fact that it’s a day he can just slack off and relax in the sun (and sometimes water). He’s usually on the beach in a beach chair or sitting in a pool floaty, just drifting along. Sometimes he’s just latched onto Paps or Toriel, it’s kinda a wild card where he is at any given time.
❤️ He has never been sober ONCE while at the beach with the family. Mostly thanks to the fact that he somehow always has a martini in hand. No one knows where he gets it, let alone how it is almost always at least half way full. Needless to say, he’s at least buzzed by the end of the day.
❤️ Every time they go to the beach, he wears the most insane sunglasses. I’m talking Elton John style, but if they came from dollar tree. Normally it’s a pineapple pair, but they change on a whim. Once again, no ones entirely sure where they come from.
❤️ He briefly moved the illegal hotdog stand to beach, before the threat of getting fined was close enough to scadattle. This, the limited addition ‘Colddogs’ (now for 5g, wait he meant 50g, actually its 500-) became a thing. They were followed shortly by ‘Frozendogs’ (available in 50 flavors!)
❤️ The two never breathe a word of it, but every once in awhile Papyrus will rent a canoe and the two of them will go out on the water. They only do this at the dead of night, when the water is still and clear. Way out past the buoys, where it’s hard to see the shore, the moon and the stars bounce off the water in a shifting, funhouse esc reflection. Being out there, together, in practically silence..... It brings a lot of comfort to the two of them. It reminds Sans that yeah, this is real, and some things are worth remembering.
Papyrus
❤️ Paps is very fond of the shallows, but not a huge fan off big, open water. Unless he’s in the comfort of a canoe or boat. It’s just too big of a space. One can feel so... alone out there. But!! If he’s in chest or higher or with a group of close friends, he’s good!!
❤️ He bought special spandex gloves to wear in the water, ones that cover his fingers and palms without being skin (bone???) tight. They help him tread the water better, since he’s the opposite of buoyant. Which is definitely the only reason he bought them! No other reason in sight! Why would you even ask that?!
❤️ He, Undyne, and Frisk play ALOT of beach games, all far more extreme than their originals. The current turnomemt is over X-Treme volleyball, this time featuring antigravity magic and spears. Frisk is, somehow, winning.
❤️ A good portion of the time, he eats nice cream and makes sand castles with Flowey. Their creations are startlingly structurally sound and flourished. Though, they are also usually next to a life sized sand-Papyrus. No one knows where the sand came from.
❤️ He tried catch and realease shark fishing with Undyne once. It um, got interesting to say the least. Especially when they tried to use Papyrus as live bait. They only had to go to the ER twice!
Undyne (Aka my entire reason for writing this)
❤️ Undyne doesn’t love the ocean. She doesn’t even like the ocean. She ADORES the ocean. You can find her there almost every day after work, sun or storm. She never realized how much she would thrive in salt water until she was there, and now she can’t believe she lived without it. Its so raw and passionate and buetiful, and she’s just at home in the waves.
❤️ Her favorite time to be out is during a good storm, when the ocean is at her roughest. Undyne has learned how to boogie board and body surf since she got on the surface, and uses those huge waves to catch some air. She WANTS to learn how to surf, but has yet to find someone to teach her. Storms are also the best for letting the water roll over her and letting herself drift in the tides, both are pretty damn amazing feelings.
❤️ Because she can breathe and see under the water, she also likes to swim out really deep into the open ocean. No one in the family can follow, but it gives her a lot of time to think. Also, there are sometimes HUGE fish out there, which she greatly enjoys seeing and interacting with. She’s. she’s fought a tiger shark before. And probably other, larger and more dangerous things. (Also when she gets home, Alphys always talks about how her kisses taste like salt. Undyne loves it).
❤️ Before she became Asgore’s body gaurd, Undyne was pretty much out of work. Not a whole lot of people wanted a massive, sharp toothed, she-shark selling retail in their stores. But, being a fish and all, she got managed to get a job as a life gaurd over the summer! This ended in her actually giving swim lessons to a couple of kids (starting with Frisk)!! She is actually a pretty good trainer and still teaches a few kids every once in awhile over summer breaks.
❤️ Her and Asgore went on a fishing trip once! The boat nearly capsized, Undyne ended up going in to fish instead of using the pole, there were life lessons taught about patience, and Asgore got horrendously away sick. Needless to say, it was a good trip. They still have pictures on Asgore’s fridge!
Alphys
❤️ As much as her girlfriend loves it, she’s not actually a huge fan of the water. It’s overwhelming and dries out her scales, and when she’s in super deep it makes her really uncomfortable. She’s stared into oblivion before and, well, it’s not a good feeling. The deep sea reminds her of that.
❤️ That being said, she LOVES the beach itself. She could sun bathe for hours while Undyne is swimming. Just pop on her head phones, lay on the sand, and embrace her lizard heratage! Also, she likes to watch her hot girlfriend do hot things like catch fish in her teeth and throw skeletons, so it’s a win win.
❤️ Naturally, this means a lot of her and Undyne’s date end up at the beach one way or anouther. Every time they go now, Alphy makes a point of collecting a seashell. They all hang on a string over her bed, it’s her favorite part of the room.
❤️ More times than not, if the sand is particularly nice and warm, Alphys falls asleep on it. Like, hard core passed out asleep. She just loves the fluffy parts of the sand so much??? And it’s so comfortable??? And she’s gotten more than afew overheating from sleeping ALL day, but she can’t help herself. It’s just too cozy!
❤️ Her favorite thing about the ocean is always going to be seeing Undyne’s smile though. She loves it. She loves the way her girlfriend’s kisses taste after she’s been in the sea. She loves how content the girl is after a good swim, and how cuddly they get in the living room. She loves smelling the air and holding her hand and seeing the sun on the water. She wants to spend forever in her arms, on the sand, eating nice cream and watching the sun set.
Mettaton
❤️ So. He’s a robot. Alphys is currently working on waterproofing his body, but until then he’s shore bound. That doesn’t mean he won’t done his best sun hat and glasses, steal a life gaurd’s chair, and pose dramatically on the beach though!
❤️ Truth be told, he actually quite enjoys long walks on the beach. His boots are well protected enough to go a way into the water as well, so he takes them sometimes with Alphys. Also, night time on the beach holds SPECTACULAR song writing material! There’s something so inspirational about the atmosphere.
❤️ That being said, summer concerts are the bomb. Litterally. There’s pyrotechnics. He’s not as big a star as he was in the underground, but some local beach performances are well within his pay grade. The thrill of the stage! The cries of the people! The personality and connection to his adoring fans! The one time he crowd surfed! The fashion! It’s all just perfect!
❤️ He also frequents beach side shops, thanks to the atmosphere and outfit selection. One can NEVER go wrong with a floppy hat and a sheer coverup. It’s just impossible.
❤️ He relates WAY too hard to the little mermaid, both in the original story and Disney. There’s just something that hits too close to home about longing for humanity and a new, more comfortable body... He gets Ariel man, he gets her.
Asgore
❤️ He likes to go on long morning walks on the beach alone. There’s something comforting about the sun rise and the sound of the waves rolling around him. There’s something even more sweet about the rare conversations, only lasting a hello and small talk, all few and far between. Sometimes he finds himself wishing he had a dog to walk with him, but in the end decides against it. He’s been alone a long time, he can last one more day.
❤️ He really enjoys going shelling. Sometimes, he even likes to paint his finds and put them up in his windows. Frisk helps him, he likes that.
❤️ He’s become a vollenteer to help find and aid sea turtles’ hatch sites. He loves watching them hatch and get to the sea safely. Though he’s not supposed to, he’ll protect them from the gulls.
❤️ Thanks to being in so close to the sea, he had a brief phase of being rather in love with verities of seaweed and kelps. He tried to keep afew using water tanks, but could never quite get them right. Ah well, at least the petunias and roses are doing nicely.
❤️ He has a hard time reading or watching things about mermaids. They make him sad.
#undertale#whole cast#Asgores section made me tear up a lil ngl#I love him so much#Also!!! Fun fact of the day!!!#A lot of the stuff put on Undyne’s section are based on my own experiences and feelings! minus the breathing under water parts tho#I just. love the ocean man.#Can you tell I wanted to be a mermaid as a kid?#Because I wanted to SO bad#long post

CreativeRogues Discord Server Coming Soon! (Announcement + Q&A)
Yep, this is happening, I guess?
A CreativeRogues D&D Server is something I’ve been wanting to do for a while as I’ve been getting more and more comfortable running D&D Online through Discord.
I’ve always wanted to interact as much as I can with the Community, and I think this is the logical next step for us!
Now of course people will have questions, and I’ll try to answer all of them here, but if I don’t answer your question specifically, please leave a Comment or Reblog with @creativerogues so I’ll see it and try to answer it!
What to Expect...
They’ll be a General Chat Room for the Community to hang out in and message or talk to each other, as well as specific Rooms dedicated to things like easy Character Creation, and a DM Writer’s Room where DMs can share their ideas and get help from other DMs to create an even richer experience and create even better stories with help from the Community!
Games will be ran on a Schedule (To Be Determined!) and will run as often as possible, since life can get in the way sometimes...
We’re also planning to make Rooms dedicated to the different Tiers of play, so you don’t have to play a Character from Level 1 all the way to Level 20, simply tell us what kinda Game you’re looking for!
So how will this work?
You can join the server as a Casual, a Player or a DM.
If you feel like you wanna play in a Game or DM a Game, simply put the word out and we’ll do our best to make a Game available for you!
Can I have @creativerogues as a DM?
Depending on my availability, I’ll be running Games for people in the Community that want to play, putting together groups of like-minded Players and setting up Campaigns: Some Campaigns may only be a Oneshot or a Short Adventure, some may span weeks or even months if the Players truly do want that.
But they’ll be more than just me there, they’ll be other fantastic DMs out there willing to run Oneshots, Short Adventures or even a whole Campaign for members of the Community, but we ask that you please be patient while we sort out the kinks!
What “Setting” are we playing in?
Well that’s up to you!
You can play in an Official Setting such as Forgotten Realms or Eberron, or if you’re a DM you can set up a group within your own homebrew setting, or you can work with other DMs in the Community to make an inter-connected world spanning multiple campaigns and adventures, the possibilities are endless!
What “Edition” are we playing in?
It’ll almost certainly always be 5th Edition unless an overwhelming number of people request for games in other Editions.
How do I join?
We’ll be putting out an invite to a few close and long-time members of the Community first to test things out, but once everything is set up, simply send a Message asking to join and boom!
Now for the “Fun” Part!
If you want to play a Game, you’ll need to know how I run my own Games!
Now I’m no Big Time Online Dungeon Master, but I do have a way of doing things that tries to get you from starting as a Player to actually playing in a Game as quickly as possible.
Below I’ve put a big ol’ (and somewhat intimidating, I will admit) Template for a wannabe Player to fill in the blanks, hopefully making the process quick and easy for a DM to pick your Character up and plop them into a Game as quickly as possible.
Character Template
Discord Name: We’ll need this for Reference.
Character Name: What’s your Character called, or what Name(s) do they go by?
Race: What Race is your Character?
Sub-Race: If your Character’s chosen Race has multiple Sub-races, which one are they?
Class: What Class is your Character? What kind of role do you want them to play?
Subclass: What Archetype is your Character?
Background: What did your Character do before they became an Adventurer?
Origin: What Environment was your Character born or raised in?
Alignment: What Alignment is your Character?
Equipment: What Equipment does your Character want or have on their person?
Appearance: What does your Character look like physically? What colour eyes do they have? Is their hair short or long, curly or wavy, and what colour is it? All these things and more...
Outfit: What is your Character most commonly seen wearing?
Age: How old is your Character? (Minimum Age is 18)
Build (Height & Weight): Is your Character short, stocky, tall, slim or something in between?
Distinguishing Marks: What’s the first thing someone notices about your Character? A scar? A tattoo? A piercing or item of clothing they always wear?
Backstory: Whether tragic or happy, this describes the important events in your Character’s life before the real adventures begin!
Character Goal: What does your Character want to achieve before the end of the Game? Do they want to be a Ruler? Or become an Archmage? Maybe they just want to reunite with lost loved ones? That’s up to you!
You may notice some things that aren’t on your standard Character Sheet, such as Origin or Distinguishing Marks:
Origin is the Environment that your Character was born and raised in, and I’ll provide a list of examples below:
Arctic: A snowy Tundra or Frozen Wasteland.
Coastal: Port Towns, Beaches, Seaside Cities, Etc.
Desert: Sand Dunes, Dry Hot Wastelands, Etc.
Green-lands: Forests, Grasslands, Hills, Swamps, Jungles, Etc.
Mountains: Mountains, Volcanoes, Valleys, Cliff-side Cities, Etc.
Under-dark: Underground.
Urban: An In-Land City, Trade Centre, Capitol City, Etc.
Otherworldly: Another Plane of Existence, such as the Feywild, Shadowfell, Elemental Planes, etc.
Other: Anywhere that does not fit into the other Environments. (Maybe your Character lives in a series of Underwater Caverns, or on a Floating City, or maybe they were born and raised on a Sailing Ship, all good examples.)
This lets Myself and other DMs place your Character in an appropriate part of the World!
In addition to all the Character Creation Stuff going on for when Games are up and running, we’ll need to know a bit more about you!
What kinda games do you like? Do you like disabling traps and solving puzzles? Do you like exploring the world and role-playing? Or do you prefer combat and fighting monsters?
The objective is to have fun playing D&D, so let us know what makes D&D fun for you!
Is this a lot of work upfront? Maybe. But in the long term it means you should be able to request a Game, bring a Character Sheet, and drop into the Game as smoothly as possible.
Sidenote: I know I’ll be asked this, but Homebrew Content is entirely up to the Dungeon Master that’ll be running your Games, if you want to use Homebrew Material or 3rd Party Resources, that’s a conversation to be had between you and the DM.
Reminder: This is all in Testing!
Things will be clunky at first, that’s for certain, things will go wrong and be awkward and we hope you’ll be patient with us while we sort it all out!
I can’t wait to play a Game with you lovely people, but yeah, CreativeRogues out!

LoL Chapter 49- The Underground
Masterpost
A Wizard Hermits tale (AU, designs, ideas belongs to @theguardiansofredland)
Ecto belongs to @cooler-cactus-block (new computer and I still can’t fuckin at you)
Turns out the hermits aren’t the only ones who wish to get rid of Magistrate Dolios.
____________________________________
Etho drops into the canal below, water rippling without a single drop to disturb the silent cave. Heterochromatic eyes rove across the dark, dank tunnel, waving one hand for the others to follow. Scar comes next, much less gracefully as he misses the last rung and tumbles into the canal with a heavy splash.
They were beneath the noble district of the city. Grown above the canals like most of Milliara, they built up beyond the lifeblood of Lairyon. Left it behind, to pass through in these underwater canals, until they lead to a fountain, messenger canal, or the rest of the city.
Once Xisuma’s boots are in the water, he sloshes forward without pause. He knows who he saw, he’s just not sure if he believes it. Ex never gets involved with anything. He always waits, watches from the sidelines. When X wanted to fight, it was Ex that stayed behind. When X wanted to be a guild, Ex went on his own.
He continues on, following the distance sound of scraping and scuffling, harsh against the soft patter of water and trickle of running water. Xisuma rounds the corner, white light reflecting in the distance off the damp walls. He’s so focused on the light at the end he doesn’t notice the movement in the shadows. At least, not until it’s too late.
A warm hand claps over Xisuma’s mouth, muffling any attempt for him to cry out. Another arm drags him into the darkness, and a wave of fear keeps Xisuma from trying to escape. A warm, low voice growls in his ear, full of menace. “You had your chance, now let the big kids play.”
“Tris, we’re just supposed to stop the guard, not-” A second, similar voice fractures through the darkness, and Xisuma notices a lock of pink hair, bright against the stone wall.
“I’m Nightshade!” The one holding Xisuma snaps, loosening his grip on him. “Do you want half the city to know who we are?”
Xisuma manages to wriggle free, and instead the twin faces wrestle each other into the water. Tackling and pulling hair, calling each other names that grow louder and louder. Loud enough for the other hermits to find them.
Stress realizes who she’s looking at first. “King Sor?”
“What am I, chopped liver?” one of the two growls, his blue scarf soaked.
“The king?” Tango splutters, snapping his fingers. A flame appears in his hand, and he raises it higher. Sure enough, wrestling in the muck and mud of the swampwater was the King of Lairyon and his twin brother. Yin and yang, dark and light. Their tan skin and rainbow hair- though the king’s much brighter- was instantly recognizable, even if the all white and black suits weren’t enough.
Grand Advisor Tris, currently holding King Sor in a headlock, glares at the hermits. “Do you mind?”
“We are in the middle of something.” Sor adds, looking at their audience as he grabs hold of Tris’s fingers and yanks.
“What are you-” Xisuma starts, confusion clouding his prerogative. Why is the Twin King, monarch of Lairyon, in the canals beneath his own city, tackling his brother and arguing over codenames? Xisuma shakes his head, trying to avoid the fact that he’s standing in front of the king. “Where did he go? My brother?”
“Where’s Doc?” BDubs adds, bouncing from foot to foot. They have to find their friend. Is he still alive? What do the kings want with a criminal? Why all this, when King Sor has more power than even Dolios?
“Three lefts then a right, there’s a staircase carved into the wall. It’ll take you to-” Sor has gained the upper hand, sitting on top of Tris, but the advisor isn’t afraid to kick his brother into silence.
“You are, by far, the worst spy ever.” Tris hisses, but the hermits leave the twins to their squabble in the sewer. Following Sor’s directions, they wind through the secret caves, Tango, Grian, Ren, and Iskall illuminating the darkness. Jevin can’t help but think about when they first began this journey, way back in Gildara. How they wandered dark, wet caves like this. Only to become enraptured into something so much bigger than they could ever have known.
But rather than a corrupted crystal at the end of this dive, they find the carved steps Sor had mentioned.
They also find the trail of blood up the rough hewn stairs. Every step up is slick with the ochre, a different size and shape from the one before. At the top of the stairs, a hatch remains closed. Xisuma presses up against the metal hatch, but finds it too heavy to lift. Looking up, he notices a symbol burnt into the metal.
Ex still uses their shared mark. Even after their estrangement, the swirl and the star remain easily visible. Not like how Xisuma scratched it off everything he owned. “It’s blocked. Stress?”
“Not a problem, dearie.” The ice mage squeezes her small, limber body between Xisuma and TFC, rolling up her sleeves. Without even breaking a sweat, she forces the hatch open. Light blinds them for a second time, though this much softer than before. Lamplight, enough to illuminate the wooden building, but still soft enough to cast shadow. A chest full of books has been tossed aside, the rug covering the hidden hatch flipped over.
The hermits crawl out, like an army of ants from the seams in the wood, filling the small bookstore. Ex’s arrival surprises no one, and neither does the twenty something mages in his bookshop. The twin brother of Xisuma looks up, purple eyes meeting the hermits. A lock of pure white hair covers over one eye, and the red fabric of the cloak covers Ex from the nose down. But even with his face covered, the hermits can see the discontent in his expression.
“He’s in the back. I’d… I’d be prepared.” Ex’s voice remains low and tempered, a bit deeper than Xisuma’s own. He turns away, running fingers across the shelves of books around him, before pulling free an encyclopedia of medicines.
Scar doesn’t wait, bursting through the curtain into Ex’s living quarters. He follows the trail of ash and blood, until he stops dead. The other hermits crowd in behind him, desperate to see their friend. For a week, he’s been in jail. Just being able to be in the same room was a blessing.
Doc was rested on a cot, bandages covering his legs, his arms, his chest, his face. Blackened skin beneath white gauze. He lays still, eyes closed, clothes in burnt tatters. For a minute, everyone holds their breath, waiting to see Doc breathe his own. When a shallow rise of his chest, followed by whisper of an exhale, escapes from the puppeteer, relief floods the hermits.
Doc is alive. Hanging on by a thread, but alive. Scar grabs Grian, yanking him to the front and shoving him into the room. “Fix him!”
“Don’t need to tell me twice.” Grian may be rivals with Doc, but they’re still friends. Family. He walks across the silent room, each step a loud creak through the wooden building. The hermits follow in after, a concave audience watching, hoping for a miracle.
Grian’s eyes begin to glow, and another set of wings appear from his back, and another. A halo rings above Grian’s blond hair, sharp shafts of light piercing the air around him. The archangel kneels beside Doc, lost in the overwhelming power of his magic. A mere pass of his hand over the unconscious criminal begins to heal him. An angelic miracle, Grian simply brushes a wing, and it eases the blackened burns across their friend.
Doc’s breathing deepens, though he doesn’t wake. Brought back from the brink, from the precipice of death. Mumbo carefully sidles up beside Grian, placing a hand on his friend’s shoulder. “It’s okay, Grian, you can let go of your aura.”
The soothing voice does the trick, as light fades and wings disappear. Grian’s exhausted but forces the glow and sleep from his eyes to see his success. Doc was alive. Doc was stable.
Doc was safe, with his family again.
Ex appears in the doorway, hands full of books, potions, herbs, and crystals. But when he sees his patient, no longer bleeding out and struggling to hang on for dear life. He looks at Doc, then Grian, then Xisuma. Dropping his armful of supplies, he waves his hand. “You really have one of everything, don’t you?”
Xisuma takes a deep breath. He hasn’t spoken a word to Ex in years. What does he say, after so long? What does he tell him, or yell at him, or cry to him? But only one word manages to escape from X’s lips, through his mask. “Thanks.”
The word surprises both twins, blinking back in surprise. Ex’s lips press into a thin line, and he turns his head away. A white ponytail of hair cascades over his shoulder. “Never say I didn’t do anything for you, brother.”
“Xisuma, this is your brother?” Keralis questions. They were almost identical twins, in fact. From the structure of their face, the intensity in their eyes. The only difference between the two was Ex’s snow white hair. Hell, they even had them both in ponytails.
“If he still considers me a brother.” Ex snips, picking up the mess on the floor and carefully placing the books in a stack.
“I thought you said getting into things would only lead to trouble.” Xisuma looks down at his friend, then to Ex.
“And by the looks of it, I was right.”
“But you saved Doc. You used your magic in front of half the city, to save him from burning at the stake.” Xisuma shakes his head, still in disbelief. “Why?”
Ex stops moving, going silent. His shoulder tense forward, until his head drops. “Because he means so much to you. You may not consider me a brother, but I still care about you. Whether or not this disaster could have been avoided, we’re all in on it now.”
“We?” Cub picks up on Ex’s words, raising an eyebrow. Of course, there were the royals, but he also remembers the water magic appearing from nowhere, the cactus growing from the woodwork, the black wings in the smoke.
Ex snorts. “What, you think you guys have been this lucky the whole time? That it was only you idiots taking on the magistrate?”
He turns, walking out of the room. Assuming the hermits will follow. He assumed correctly. Only a few stay behind to keep watch over Doc, the others squeezing through the aged wooden shop, up the rickety stairs and into a dining room.
They aren’t alone. Inside, three people are sitting. One with short brown hair, cropped to the side and laying on the top of the table, earthy colored clothes and scarves wrapped around her. Sitting crosslegged in the seat is a small kipling, rocking in place with curious eyes as he looks upon the large group entering into Ex’s study. Finned ears flick against black and orange locks, a slight glow appearing under the kipling’s clothes in the dark room. And in the corner, perched on the flat booth’s backrest, a blonde mane drapes around a serious face, and a pair of jet black wings rustle against the wooden walls.
The last faces they expected to see were those of the Wanderers.
“Red? Ecto?” Zedaph tips his head to the side, surprised. The last time they saw the three of them, it was before the labyrinth challenge. When the hermits celebrated with Team Crafted, they had already left. Disappeared just as fast as they appeared. And now, they’ve reappeared. Sitting in the middle of Ex’s kitchen, sipping on tea. As comfortable there as they were in that ratty old inn. ‘How do you guys know Xisuma’s brother?”
“It was you three who rescued Doc.” Scar whispers, his voice soft and almost reverent. Water, desert, and dragon.
“Ex approached us while you and Team Crafted were within the labyrinth. He told us about things we already had suspicion of, but no connected dots.” Avon tips her head back, looking down her nose at the hermits. “We decided the best way we could help Lairyon was to cause as much nuisance to the magistrate as possible, as well as handle certain missions.”
“This entire time, you were helping us?” Xisuma turns, looking at his brother. They’re the exact same height, purple eyes locked in some years long argument.
Ex snorts. “What, you think you idiots did that all on your own? But it wasn’t just the wanderers that have been helping. Team Crafted has had their hand in this underground rebellion as well. Turns out, they make a lot of trouble all over the place for the arcane guard to deal with, as well as encourage people to tell their stories and speak out against the magistrate.”
“But then that leaves…” Mumbo trails off, and he turns around at the sound of bickering behind them. Sure enough, the twin rulers are still arguing over their codenames. Mumbo bows, his hands shaking as he remembers all the rules he was taught when in presence of the king.
King Sor presses one hand over his twin’s mouth to shut him up, and uses the other to wave off Mumbo’s bow. “Please, there’s no-” Sor’s interrupted when Tris retaliates, licking his hand. The king curses, rubbing the spit on his white outfit. “You’re disgusting, brother.”
“Go on, finish the story. Don’t forget to tell them who’s idea it was to reach out to the mysterious white haired man with connections to Eremita.” Tris scoots in beside Red, and Ecto pours tea for the royal advisor.
“It was Tris’s idea to contact Ex. I honestly don’t know how he found out about him, but he’s been the conductor of it all. We help fund in any way we can, and he does the research before sending the wanderers and Team Crafted to play support roles.” King Sor doesn’t look like the man the hermits are used to seeing. The king, the ruler of Lairyon. He’s thriving with people, just another person, another friend.
“But...you’re the king. Why can’t you just depose of Dolios?” Beef questions, the confusion in his voice matched by all of the hermits. Only Ex and the wanderers act as if this was evident.
They expected Sor to answer, being the king, but with a loud crash of a metal teacup against the wooden table, all attention is turned to Tris. “That monster, that....bastard has been using us all against Sor. Especially me.” Tris grits his teeth hard, jaw tight and set. “You’re too damn soft, Sor.”
“Soft?! Tris, he was going to kill you!” Sor gasps, tears beginning to streak from teal eyes, across tanned cheeks. His breath hiccups and catches in his throat. “Dolios made sure he had control over everything, including me. In order to do that, he… he tortured Tris. My brother. Threatened both our families. Hurt our closest friends in the royal guard. Sometimes… I had no choice but to let it happen. The things he would have done to the kingdom were so much worse but...at what cost? Did I make the right decision, letting him do that to my own brother?”
Sor’s knees fall out from under him, and in the aged wooden floor of a bookstore, the King of Lairyon is brought to kneel. Tears fall, all he’s been forced to endure breaking down. And the hermits, despite hardly knowing King Sor, understand and sympathize with him all the same. His family is at risk, the same way their own is. Dolios will stop at nothing to tear both families apart, all for his gain and rise to power.
Red clambers over Tris’s lap, breaking every taboo and rite to approach the king. She runs over, and hugs the king tight and close. A warm hug, like a mother’s embrace, just enough to calm down the monarch. Such a young man, forced to make so many horrible decisions. After a moment, the king recollects himself. Through puffy, tearstained eyes, he looks to the hermits. “Lairyon needs a hero. There are no chosen ones, there is no prophecy. No knights in shining armor, no kings and our awesome power. This time, the heroes need to be made. And you, the Order of Hermits, were the brave souls to choose to be heroes.”
“Dolios is using his darkness to gain power. After what you dealt with, we were sure you’d give up.” Tris adds, standing and placing a hand on his brother’s shoulder. Now, the scars on the royal advisor’s body are clear as day. “But you really are the heroes that will bring back the Light of Lairyon.”
Silence falls over the room. The hermits, heroes? Just for wanting to help, to do what no one else knew to do? They were caught up in all of this, and multiple times death waited to claim them- if Dolios had his way. They weren’t heroes, just people who chose to fight back. Who chose to make the stand.
“Dark magic isn’t new.” Ex breaks the silence, hefting a massive, ancient book onto the table. The wood rocks, dumping Avon off it and into Ecto’s lap. “There have been insurgences all throughout history, though the past thousand years have been relatively quiet. Unfortunately about that, almost all information how the dark magic was defeated has been… lost to time. To make matters worse, no reported insurgence has ever been so prolific as this time around.”
“Alright, how does this help with anything?” Xisuma rolls his eyes. His brother always has such a flair for the dramatics, always getting way too deep into history and his books. Next to the massive tome that Ex is flipping through, Avon stops pestering Ecto. She goes still, even when the desert wizard dumps her onto the floor. A look of fear spreads from her eyes, rippling like a drop of water across a lake.
“Well, if this happened before with the ancient ones, then it’s likely the answer may lie with the history of Lairyon itself. Perhaps if you-” Ex is interrupted when a massive black pair of wings extends, one smacking him in the face.
“The spirit dragons are in danger.”
