to give you that little push; I'd like to request a modern!Sihtric x reader where they are reunited after a long time apart. the rest is all you! ;)
Authors note: it all started with the ask, whether I accept modern!Sihtric requests, that left me deeply thoughtful whether I am really up to it. So thank you so much, my dear @sihtricfedaraaahvicius for giving me that little push and setting me on this short, but very intensive journey.
My very first Modern!Sihtric x reader fic.
Warnings: fluff, quite suggestive on the borderline with getting smutty, heartbreak, abuse of alcohol
Summary: see the request, although I have a slight feeling you had something different in mind, when you requested this.

Part 2 Part 3 Part 4
“Please, fasten your seat belt; we are landing,” a voice intruded upon your tranquil nap, jolting you awake. You rubbed your eyes, struggling to comprehend the source of the voice and your whereabouts.
“Thank you,” you murmured slowly, fumbling around trying to locate and secure your seat belt, your head still dizzy. You flinched as the airplane thudded onto the runway with a slight bump, rebounded gently, and then smoothly taxied to a stop at the parking position.
“Fuck! So fast…” you swore silently to yourself. In truth you did not want to get off that plane. You remained seated until the final passenger had exited before rising to retrieve your hand luggage. The irritated looks, masked under a polite smile, that flight attendants were casting at you, did not make you to move faster. You had no reason to hurry, so you took your time. Your head was tucked into the collar of your oversized sweater, its sleeves engulfing your hands. Your rucksack hung haphazardly over your shoulder, giving you the appearance of a turtle, save for the fact that even a turtle might have traversed the distance to the front door more swiftly.
“Have a nice evening, ma’am,” the flight attendant beamed at you as you walked past. Lost in your own thoughts, you didn't respond. It had been five years. Five fucking years since you left on what was meant to be a two-week summer course in the other part of the world and ended up staying there for a half decade. This had been one in a million opportunity, a scholarship and admission to one of the world’s best design schools combined with an offer to work for a renowned fashion house after graduation. Only a fool would have rejected it, and you were so close to doing just that.
---------------------------------
“Hey, sweetheart, I’ve missed you! How are you doing? How was your flight?” Sihtric’s smiling face greeted you from the screen of your phone.
“Everything’s fine, I’ve missed you too!” you replied, your smile tinged with sleepiness. Glancing at the clock, you noted that it was 9 a.m., which translated to around 7 p.m. at Sihtric's location. Jet lag hadn't quite released its grip on you yet.
“I love you sweety and I miss you terribly. It is so lonely without you here,” Sihtric’s voice never failed to send shivers down your spine.
“I love you too, handsome! Just two weeks to go and I’ll be back home,” your drowsy gaze drifted once again to the clock. "Damn! It's already 9:00. I've got my first classes in thirty minutes! I need to hurry!" With an exclamation, you leapt out of bed, nearly dropping your phone in the process.
You had met Sihtric just a month before at a party hosted by your best friend Gisela, who was celebrating the opening of her very own studio and art gallery. You had never believed in the love at the first sight, deeming it ridiculous and impossible to fall for someone you hardly knew. Yet, that’s exactly what had happened to you the moment you laid eyes on Sihtric. Seated on the sofa, gingerly sipping your gin and tonic, you nearly choked on your drink as your gaze widened, registering a striking dark-haired young man entering the room. The slightly snug black t-shirt and skinny jeans he wore accentuated his remarkably well-built body. Swallowing hard, your eyes remained glued to his face, tracing his sharp features, pronounced cheekbones, straight nose, and big expressive eyes. His moustache and short beard, covering his chin, only added to his rugged and strong presence. Gisela introduced you, and before you knew it, you had spent the entire evening sitting on the sofa with him, joking, laughing, telling anecdotes from your studies – you had studied fashion design — and raptly listening to his tales. He was a photographer and had journeyed across the globe for his job and passion, collaborating and doing shootings with various celebrities and amassing countless amusing stories to share. With each passing minute, you marvelled more and more why on earth this intelligent, breathtakingly handsome, and evidently talented man had decided to spend his evening chatting with you.
You lived just a few blocks away from the gallery and after the party Sihtric immediately offered to accompany you home, unwilling to let you wander the streets alone at such a late hour.
“Thank you for the stunning evening,” Sihtric said, taking your hand and lifting it to his lips, placing a delicate kiss upon it as you both stood at the entrance of your apartment building.
“Stunning?” you raised your eyebrow in disbelief. The idea that someone could describe an evening spent chatting with you as stunning seemed far-fetched.
“Yeah, stunning. I can't even recall when I last had so much fun," Sihtric's face drew near, his breath grazing your skin and quickening your heartbeat.
“Fuck, does he want to come upstairs?” a thought raced through your mind, but there was this age-old rule on not having sex with someone on the first date lingering in your consciousness. “To hell with the rules, I want him – even if it would be just a one-night stand. Common, handsome, kiss me!” you silently urged, feeling a shiver tracing your spine as Sihtric’s thumb gently caressed your cheek. His gaze bore into you, as if searching for a sign.
“You’re incredibly sweet and beautiful,” Sihtric whispered in your ear. His lips touched yours in the most gentle, tender kiss – the softest, you’d ever had. You closed your eyes, letting yourself melt into that delicate kiss, a pleasant lightheadedness enveloping you.
“Sweet dreams, lovely!” Sihtric’s voice brought you back to reality as he hesitantly pulled away. “I’ll call you tomorrow.”
“What?” your mind slowly registered the words you just heard, “No, wait!” you wanted to speak, but as you opened your eyes, he was already gone. “What the fuck? Was it a dream? Why did he leave? What did I do wrong?” Countless thoughts and emotions whirled in your mind as you ascended to your apartment, disappointment prevailing. You were convinced, you’d never see him again. He didn’t even have your number; how could he call? You were angry at yourself, believing you’d ruined everything, not knowing what exactly you have done wrong, but being sure it was you.
The greater was your surprise, when you received an early morning call from Gisela the following day.
“Hey there! How are you?” your friend’s ever cheerful voice came through the phone. “Guess what? I just gave your number to Sihtric. You must have made quite an impression on him. He woke me up at 6.00 a.m. today, to ask for your number, miserable that he hadn’t asked you for it. Can you believe it– 6.00 a.m.?”
“What?” you weren’t fully awake yet.
“Don’t mess this up, honey! He’s a catch! See you at lunch tomorrow; I want all the details!” Gisela hung up, leaving you staring at your phone, trying to grasp, what you’d just heard.
So, Sihtric did call, and the next day you had your first real date. You fell for him swift and hard. Being with Sihtric felt like a wild ride on a rollercoaster. He was impulsive and spontaneous breakneck, loving extreme sports like kiting and skydiving. Spontaneously embarking on a mountain photoshoot idea and heading there within minutes, leaving everything else behind, was totally normal for him. Yet, toward you, he was the embodiment of care and sweetness, a stark contrast to his impulsive, daring nature.
You had never had a lover like him before, so attentive, gentle, and eager to satisfy you. With him you felt like a goddess each time. You could still recall the tender touch of his lips on your skin, the delicate kisses covering every inch of your body. The brush of his fingers against your breasts, his hands gripping your hips, pulling you closer. His ragged breath against your neck as he purred sweet praises into your ear, while holding you tightly and thrusting deeply into you, evoking the moans of delight and pleasure from you, arching your back against the mattress.
You’d never been so deeply in love with someone, nor had your heart ever before been so broken as you read the message on your phone exactly one week after your arrival in your destination for the long-planned summer courses. The previous day had been already quite a mess. Your call with Gisela ended up with a quarrel. You had never expected her to react like that. You had shown your sketches to classmates, one of whom turned out to be the daughter of a renowned designer, just moved here to work for a major fashion house. This had led to you being invited to a meeting with the manager of the fashion house, offering you an admission to a top design school along with a scholarship in exchange for a five-year post-graduation contract as a designer for the house. You had declined the offer and just shared the whole unbelievable story with Gisela.
“Are you out of your mind” she shouted at you, incredulous. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and you’re considering giving it up for what? A guy, you’ve been seeing for less than a month! You must be insane! What’s his take on all this?”
“I haven’t talked to him about it, and I don’t intend to. I don’t want him to be involved or to feel responsible for a choice that’s solely mine to make. He might try to convince me to accept the offer, but I don’t want that. I don’t believe in long-distance relationships, and we’re not at that point to experiment with something like that. I love him, Gisela. I don’t want to lose him. I want to go back and see where this relationship takes us,” you tried to argue with your friend, receiving only and annoyed scoff in return.
Gisela was not in a mood to give up. She was resolved to put some sense back in your love blurred mind and kept arguing with you, until you were completely fed up with her.
“I’ve made up my mind, and it’s final, Gisela!” you shouted, ending the call frustrated.
Next morning you woke up with a throbbing headache. You had slept badly, your mind twirling around Gisela’s words. You knew she meant it only good, but you stood firm in your choice. A message notification jolted you, making you smile. It was from Sihtric, you knew it instantly by the ringtone you had set for him.
As you read the message, your smile froze mid-blossom. The words hit you like a freight train: «I’m sorry, but it’s over. It’s time for both of us to move on. I’ve found someone else. » Your phone slipped from your grip, clattering onto the floor. You couldn’t believe what you saw. It was impossible, it couldn’t be real. You snatched your phone back up, your fingers trembling as you pushed the call button.
No response.
You called again, and again, and again. Still no answer. With a loud scream you hurled your phone against the wall. Face buried in your pillow, you started to cry uncontrollably. You lost track of how many times you'd dialed, texted, and cried, but there was no response. He did not even read your messages. Finally, you gave up. Your world had crumbled into thousand small pieces, your silly dreams shattered, and your heart ached. The next two days you spent crying in your small dormitory room. You did not care for the courses, you were unable to make yourself get up and dress, not even speaking about seeing other people. It was on the third day that you were sitting at the table and sipping your umpteenth cup of coffee, that your gaze landed on papers strewn in a corner. The admission letter and scholarship application form lay there, untouched. A rush of emotions urged you to rip them apart, yet something held you back. Tears coursing down your cheeks, you seized a pen and hastily began filling out the form. There was nothing left to return to. The mere thought of returning home, potentially encountering Sihtric and his new love interest, churned your stomach with disgust. Thus, you stayed.
Five years immersed in studies and working as a designer in your dream fashion house. And now you were coming home, although you did not think of it that way anymore. You had been sent to overlook the opening of the new shop and had to stay there for at least half a year to make everything set and running. Half a year felt like an eternity, especially as just before boarding the plane, you learned the name of the photographer that had been hired to shoot the first catalogue – Sihtric Kjartansson. With a heavy sigh, you took a tentative step onto the bridge and began the slow walk toward the exit.
---------------------------------------------------
“You have to do something about it!” Gisela rushed into Sihtric’s apartment in complete bewilderment bursting out the whole story about the scholarship and contract in one single breath, “It is her chance, Sihtric! She is so talented, and she’s ready to give it all up because of you. Can’t you see? She’s sacrificing her entire future, everything she has ever dreamed about! If you truly love her, you can’t let this happen. Please, tell me you won’t let it happen,” she sank onto the sofa and looked at Sihtric with pleading eyes.
“You know I love her, Gisela, but what are you expecting me to do?” Sihtric asked taken aback by Gisela’s sudden intrusion, attempting to piece together what she was telling him.
“You have to end your relationship with her,” the response was so unforeseen that Sihtric found himself speechless for a moment.
“Excuse me, I have to do what?” he finally managed to articulate, still trying to comprehend Gisela's proposal.
“You have to break up with her. That’s the only way. She will not listen to you otherwise. She does not believe in long-distance relationships and will refuse to stay there anyway.”
-----------------------------------
Sihtric’s phone vibrated again, signalling an incoming call. Seated in his kitchen, head resting on his hands, he wrestled with the urge to answer. It was the fifth time already. He was aware who was calling and knew that, if he did pick up, he wouldn’t be able to repeat the words he’d typed to you just an hour ago. It was a lie. A lie, he immediately regretted upon hitting the send button. But it was done, and you had read it. He knew he had broken your heart, something he'd been so certain he would never do to you. There was no turning back now. Even if he did answer and tried to explain his motives behind the cruel message, there would always be a crack between you, caused by the pain he knew his message had inflicted. He had lost you. He had pushed you away and had done it willingly, for your own good. He loved you too much to allow you to through away your future for him.
As silly as it might sound, he’d fallen for you from the very first moment he saw you. He hadn’t wanted to come to the party. Gisela had hinted that she wanted to introduce him to someone. Her persistent obsession to fix the love life of her friends was sweet but annoying. Yet, the instant she introduced you, Sihtric felt a rush of gratitude for changing his mind. He liked everything about you – your delicate and captivating face, the sparkle in your eyes, your full and inviting lips, your thick, curly, dark brown hair cascading onto your shoulders, and above all, your stunning and breath-taking smile. You were funny and smart, your demeanour so natural and unpretentious, as he found out within mere hours. He did not even notice how the hours passed, as he was slowly drowning in your beautiful eyes, listening to your infectious laughter and your soft voice.
Desire raged within him, his jeans chafing painfully as he leaned in for a kiss that night. However, for the first time ever, he didn’t wish to rush events, fearing he could scare you off and ruin everything. He was not into a single night crush, he wanted to truly get to know you. It was your third date that he realised he couldn’t suppress his longing anymore.
“Can I invite you for a drink at my place?” he asked upon leaving the cosy Italian restaurant he’d chosen for the evening. It was so obvious what was on his mind, his look so full of desire as his eyes slowly undressed you. He licked his lips lustfully as all he could think in that moment was how you will look naked on his bed, him placing soft kisses down your body. His lips almost did not leave yours from the moment you both got into the taxi until he unlocked the doors of his apartment, his hands starting to pull up your dress as soon as you stepped into the room.
“You are so beautiful,” he murmured against your skin, drinking in the sight of your almost naked body, his fingers fumbling with the clasp of your bra.
A gratifying groan escaped his lips, his breath literally taken away by the irresistible pulchritude before him, as moments later he had you fully undressed on his bed, exactly as he had imagined it before. Pinning your arms above your head, he planted fervent kisses, tracing every contour, every curve and line of your body with his tongue. He’d imagined this every night since you first met – how he will ignite and arouse you, how he will kiss and pleasure you, making you crave for him beyond imaginable. Your response to his touch, fiery and eager, trusting and passionate, intoxicated him. As he finally pushed his hard length into you, he felt there was no greater delight in this world than feeling your walls clench around him, observing ecstasy pool in your half-lidded eyes, your hips dancing against his, your body quivering under his touch, and your spine arching against the mattress in pleasure he and only he was able to bestow upon you. And as you fell asleep in his embrace, nestled against his chest, he was sure he wanted to keep you, keep you forever.
But it was over now. Sihtric poured another glass of whiskey and downed it in one gulp. He was heavily drunk by now. His phone lay on the table, vibrating again. A message from you. He could see it appearing shortly on the locked screen. The fifth one this evening, amidst the dozen calls, he’d ignored. It was overwhelming. He couldn't endure it any longer. He had to respond, to clarify that the message had been a terrible misunderstanding. That absurd message was his fault, and he was ready to atone for it, whatever it would take, but he craved you back urgently, desperately. Sihtric reached out for his phone, but it slipped out of his numb fingers, landing on the kitchen’s stone floor with a resounding crash. When he finally managed to retrieve it, his face contorted in despair. The entire display was fractured, resembling a spider's web, and was unresponsive to his touch. A loud curse erupted as he flung the useless device against the wall before collapsing back into his chair. Reaching for the whiskey bottle, his fingers closed around its neck, bringing it to his lips. The fiery liquid surged down his throat in relentless gulps, until the bottle was empty and in the next moment it also flew against the wall, shattering into countless shards.
------------------------------------------------------
"Good morning!" your assistant's cheery voice welcomed you as you entered the pavilion, now transformed for the photo shoot. "Everything's set. The photographer arrived early this morning and had us reconfigure the entire pavilion, but you'll be pleased with the changes. We're quite fortunate – we managed to book Sihtric Kjartansson. He's truly the best and most sought-after fashion photographer right now."
The sound of that name sent a shiver down your spine. Images of Sihtric's face, engraved in your mind, surfaced – the memory of your last goodbye at the airport, thinking that you will meet again in two weeks. His gentle kiss on your forehead, the warmth of his hug, his soft words in your ear, "I'll miss you, sweetheart. You mean the world to me." How foolish you had been to believe it all. To think that you were more than just a fleeting diversion, discarded and replaced after just one week apart. Anger surged within you, wrapping around you like an armour, giving you the strength, you needed to endure this day, as you entered the shooting hall and saw the familiar silhouette behind the camera, his back turned to you.
“Good morning, everybody!” you called out, straining your voice, but it was not necessary – there was nobody else there in the whole hall. Sihtric turned, his expression shifting from annoyance to utter bewilderment, his eyes widening as they locked onto you.
“Hi!” you managed to force through gritted teeth, your body stiff in tension that was taking over you. Those five years hadn’t changed a thing. He was still painfully handsome, and you couldn’t tear your eyes from him. Worse yet, you still desired him. You both just stared at each other unable to say anything until Sihtric finally found his voice.
“Hi, sweetheart!” Sihtric greeted, a mix of surprise and embarrassment colouring his face. “What a surprise! Haven’t seen you in a while. Precisely five years, two months, and five days,” he added, his face flushing as he realised, he had unconsciously used his favourite nickname for you and his precise time calculation felt so awkward and out of place, that he instantly wished to dissolve into the ear if that would only be possible.
You did not notice anything of it. You barely registered his words beyond the unfortunate "sweetheart," that made your heart skip a beat, stirring an overwhelming blend of love and hatred within you. The conflicting emotions surged through your veins, blurring your vision, and before he could see the tears forming in your eyes, you turned on your heels and stormed out of the hall, knocking over a coffee table in your path, and never once looking back.

*Gasp* There's only one bed??
Word count: 792
Genre: Not actually sure :3
Request: No
Warnings: Swearing
A/N: Will I make this a series? Maybe. If enough people like it. Will there be bickering? Yes. Enjoy! And lemme know if you want more of this trope gone wrong
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
"...Natasha"
"Sorry what?" the name of one of the most annoying avenger's ever woke you from your daze.
"Come on Y/n, did you listen to a word of what I just said?" Your supervisor dragged their hand over their face.
"Sure. A week-long mission in Moscow. Are you trying to kill me with jet-lag?" you stretched and readjusted yourself in your chair.
"Watch the attitude or I'll just let you figure it out when you get there."
"Figure what out?"
"You have an avenger coming with you."
"What! Why? That's not fair. They just get in the way." You stood up in protest, your supervisor making their way to the door.
"Sorry, Y/l/n, should have been listening." They handed you a folder. "Here's your mission brief. Wheels up in 10."
~~~~~
Natasha. It was Natasha bloody Romanoff who you were stuck with. You supposed it made sense, considering she spoke Russian and was their star child for a while. You disliked the Avengers because they made things messy. Sure, Natasha should have been the least messy out of all of them considering she's a spy, but you'd seen the footage from New York. You were clean and efficient which is why you rose through the ranks of SHIELD quickly. You were a top level agent by your 25th birthday and they had only waited as long because your superiors didn't want someone so young getting all the high end jobs.
You had only worked with the redhead once before and it had been a complete clusterfuck. It had ruined your perfect track record and you hadn't appreciated it. After a long flight and an even longer hike from the top secret runway (because of course SHIELD can't just use a normal airport) to the small hideout you found yourself, all you wanted to do was pass out. The two of you had done very well not talking to each other and while you didn't want to break the streak, you wanted the single bed more.
"I'll take the bed, you can have the floor." You flopped on the bed and tried not to look over at the furious assassin.
"No. You can have the floor. I'll take the bed."
"Ugh are all avengers little princesses?" You rolled your eyes and wondered if you could wait till she was asleep to have a shower so you didn't lose the bed.
"Just because I want comfort doesn't mean I'm a princess."
"Fine. Are all avenger's prima donnas? Wait," You hold up a finger "Yes. Yes they are."
"Move."
"No"
"I'm not going to ask you again agent. I'm your superior here."
"That's where you're wrong princess." You bit out with equal amounts of venom "We're equals here and I don't give up my things. Ever."
Natasha stomped over to you and shoved you off the side of the bed.
"Ow. You psycho. Guess I'll just go use all the hot water then..." You grabbed a towel and fresh change of clothes from your bag and went to the shower before she could stop you.
~~~~~
After your unfortunately lukewarm shower, you made your way over to the bed where Natasha was innocently reading a book. Perhaps if she wasn't so annoying, you would have admitted how cute she looked with her reading glasses on. You stood right next to her in an attempt to intimidate her out of the bed.
"Why are you in my bed."
"Hmm?" she looked tilted her head towards you but her eyes never left the words on the pages.
"I am not sleeping on the floor. God only knows what's been there." You shivered slightly at the thought of... things... crawling about down there.
Natasha didn't respond.
You grabbed her book and started to read aloud - that got her out of the bed.
"'I'm in love with you' he said quietly" You read dramatically, spinning when she tried to snatch the book back.
"Y/n, stop. Give it back."
"'Augustus'" You slapped your hand on your chest and gasped. You lowered your voice "I am" You looked at Natasha, not breaking eye contact. "He was staring at me and I could see-" You burst into laughter with the ridiculousness of the situation. Natasha, the scariest person ever - was reading a sappy romance. It was a strange piece of information that was added to your brain.
For a moment you wondered if Natasha took offence at you mocking her book choice but the soft, barely there smile suggested otherwise. Before you could get distracted, you dropped the book, causing Natasha to dive for it as you dived for the bed.
“HA it’s my bed now Romanoff.”
“I don’t see your name on it. I don’t want to sleep on the floor.”
“No look, it’s right here. Next to all the fucks I give about you not wanting to sleep on the floor.”
“That means you either give fucks about me sleep on on the floor or your name isn’t actually on the bed.” Natasha deadpanned, a slightly smug aura surrounding her.
“Fine. Let’s flip a coin.” You quickly get out a coin. “Heads I get the bed, tails you take the floor.”
The coin spins in the air and you catch it.
“Oh look. Heads, guess I’m taking the bed.”
“Wait, hang on. You got the bed either way!”
You snuggled under the covers “I can’t hear you” you said in a singsong voice “the pillows are just soo comfy”
You felt a thud on the other side of you as the bed dipped down.
You rolled over to face the smug redhead “Um no. No way in hell. Get out.”
“Night night Y/n.” Natasha said in a sickly sweet voice, turning off the lamp and laying on her back.
You shoved some pillows between the two of you. “If you cross over onto my side I will set this damn bed on fire and let you burn to death.”
You reached up and switched the main light off, kicking Natasha whenever her foot crossed the threshold of the pillow wall.

Blurb req- Tom and the reader on a private jet hungover? just pure fluff?
fluffy requests are well and truly open ( bcos I adored writing this ahah) and let me know what u think , I am deff not a writer so any feedback or tips would be v appreciated :))
summary: tomhollandxactress!reader - a wrap party followed by an early morning flight and a grumpy Harry, what could possibly go wrong?
warning: mentions of alcohol and sickness
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The remorse. The regret. It only made the pounding in your head even worse. Why those two 1.5 litre bottle of Bacardi had been brought out was beyond you. Why the you six of you had then decided to empty said bottle was even more of a mystery. It wasn’t like any of you had needed it, you’d all been more than ‘merry’ prior to the cheap rum and coke.
Hence the state of you, Tom and Harry as well as your manager Davey and Tom’s team of Rachel and Andrew. All having made very little effort with your appearance - joggers and hoodies all round, with you and Rachel also sporting sunglasses because you were simply smarter than the boys. Thankfully, this wasn’t a big trip that fans knew about, this was you and Tom moving location under cover - the studios didnt want anybody to know that either of you made a feature in this film, so everything was under the cover of darkness. Which to be honest you were not complaining about. However, you were complaining about the fact the flight had been scheduled to leave at 7 am the night after your wrap party though.
The two of you had just wrapped your most recent and most ambitious movie to date - hence the massive celebrations last night for just surviving and getting it done. It had been the most intense 3 months of your life, there had been times you’d cry for hours on end, times you just wanted to quit fully knowing you’d never be hired again for leaving a multimillion dollar company in the lurch.But you all, somehow, had survived. So celebrations were in order of course but perhaps not as far as you all managed last night?
Your whole convey appeared to have travelled to the airfield in absolute silence, no one particularly fancied hearing anyone else’s voice- which to be honest seemed quite fair. You’d ridden in a car with Tom and Harry, with you resting your head on Tom’s broad shoulder - which had obviously made Harry gag, rolling his eyes. Bless Harry, really he was the only reason you and Tom had got together, after getting sick of the mutual pining he’d been forced to live with during the previous 2 projects you’d worked on together. But now, having had to put up with the two of you being so ridiculously loved up for the past 3 months - understandably a bit of distance from you and his brother was overdue.
One of the flight attendants busied themselves loading your luggage, whilst the pilot asked you and Tom for a photo. Of course, you weren’t going to say no however you did have to cringe at how rough you both looked. His teenage daughter certainly would be less excited to see that her Dad hadn’t met Tom Holland and Y/n Y/l/n. Instead he’d met the zombified, undead and rougher frauds. Still you smiled as much as you could, wincing when you removed the glasses and the early morning sun pierced your restricted pupils. God it wasn’t your day.
The guy didn’t seem to mind though, excitedly hurrying off onto the plane to settle in the rest of you - leaving just you and Tom outside on the tarmac.
“Poor guy, we look like shit.” You murmured while taking a step closer to lean slightly into his side.
“Speak for yourself love.’Tom snickered into the top of your head, after pulling you completely into his chest. This wasn’t normally allowed, your relationship still wasn’t public and both of you intended on keeping it private for as long as possible. But you were in an otherwise empty field in the middle of nowhere (somewhere in Georgia) before 8 am. It was actually quite nice to feel your boyfriends arms round you in the outside world, especially when you felt this shit. After a few moments you pulled away, arching back at Tom’s pouty face as you motioned it was time to get on the plane.
“’S too late you know.” Your brows furrowed at his half formed sentence, facial expression only demanding him to explain more. “They all have already taken the good seats… Harry basically sprinted on so he can hog the bed thing.” In response it was your turn to pout, groaning as you fell back into his chest again. Yes, this was a complete first world issue, a private jet paid completely by your bosses was not something a lot would moan about. Truly you were grateful for everything you had in life, but with the worst hangover of your life when the opportunity of lying down for 6 hours instead of being stuck in a chair had manifested itself… well of course you felt robbed by your almost brother Harry.
Chuckling at your reaction, he gave you an extra squeeze before leading the both of you up the stairs to the cabin. Sure enough Harry had completely and totally claimed the longer couch at the far end of the plane, lying on his stomach with his face hidden in the crook of his elbow. Rolling your eyes at the predictable situation, you didn’t miss Davey laughing at your sorry state - nmaking you throw daggers at him in your eyes.
Davey was your second father, the relationship between the two of you far transcended any professional working one. Which is why the two of you acting like this was very much a norm and not rude at all. He had also got the next best seat in the corner with the most leg room which he clearly loved to show off.
Unsurprisingly then you and Tom ended up squashed into the corner with your legs crumpled up together in the small space floor space. The brunette opposite you didn’t seem to mind so much but that was because he had an adaptational advantage. He could sleep anywhere and everywhere , whenever he wanted. On set if he was tired? Just take a ten minute power nap on the floor. Bored of a long car journey? Just conk out against the window. It absolutely infuriated you, as no matter how hard and how exhausted you were - it was rare you could get any further than a light doze. Even before the two go you got together, having a best mate that could skip all the boring bits and was immune to jet lag you can see how that makes you want to punch him square in the face.
After a short safety talk from the pilot and flight attendant, the plane whirred into life and you were up in the air. Although in your current state, it would be reasonable to assume the beauty of flying had somewhat rubbed off - you were certain it never would. No matter how many flights you took across country ,and in fact continents, for work; you’d never get sick of watching the view below you. It was perfect and breathtaking and took your mind off the pounding in the back of your head for the first 20 minutes.
Until the need for sleep took over as either you need to be unconcious or you were going to vomit - which you really didn’t want to do at 40,000 feet in a tin box. Trying to rearrange your limbs to get comfier you accidentally knocked Tom’s leg rather forcefully, causing him to jump half out his seat, heavy eyes blinking quickly as he tried to get his baring as to what was attacking him - quickly answered by your guilty look.
“You okay love?” His voice was slurred, sounding almost sleep drunk - but perhaps was just actually still a little drunk. You’d only headed to bead last night at 4 am and had to be up at 6 - which isnt very long for your poor kidneys to try and process the stupid amount of alcohol you’d both happily been chugging the night before.
“Feel shitty and cant sleep.” You weren’t in the mood to white lie - honestly some sympathy from your beautiful boyfriend seemed like a dream at the moment. Tom’s idea was better though.
“C’mere then.” His arms outstretched, you immediately jumped into his lap - the two of you shifting about to get comfortable till you were sat side on to him, your bum and back leaning against the arm rest of the chair with your legs going over his thighs and pressing against the wall of the plane. Pulling you closer to his chest, Tom took a deep breath as he pressed his chin against the crown of your head; your face now nested into his chest.
Nothing needed to be said as the two of you melted into each others bodies, the slow and deepening breathing enough to prove to each other you were both incredibly contented in that moment. More than that you felt safe- you’d admitted to Tom some weeks ago that you had never ever slept better than when he was beside you. Yeh it was cringey but sometimes that’s allowed right?
… well not to Harry. Because as the plane was about to begin it’s descent, the pilot had tasked Harry (who had slept off the worst of the hangover and had spent the last 30 minutes of the flight scoffing at how adorable the two of you looked fast asleep together) - even after Rach had scalded him and had taken a photo of the two of you on her phone.
Causing Harry to ,ever subtly, wake the two of you up by throwing his half empty water bottle over your heads.
Safe to say, Harry very nearly didn’t leave that jet alive.

“I thought you were changing. You don’t care about anyone. You rather see those around you to die than save them. How can you call yourself a hero if you can’t even feel for the public? You are the worst hero ever.”
Those words replayed like a song worth listening, over and over again. Your mouth that could sing dozens of symphonies sang a song that could curse a man for the rest of his life. Words of hatred and malice drowned Shouto to the pits of the earth, each syllable leaving your mouth another pierce to his heart. The twinkle in your eyes that could outshine any of the stars in the night sky were dimmed to the lowest as a waterfall of tears cascaded down your face.
The look on your face could have brought anyone to their knees to beg for forgiveness, stuttering nonsense that was coherent only in their head. He could see it in your expressions. The way your bottom lip quivered as you listened to the poison of his words. Your smaller hands clenched and unclenched by your sides, your body shaking with each blow. Your head shook with nothing but denial as you tried to shrug his words off. You couldn’t.
The grip you held his shirt with was full of pure disappointment, hurt, and dishonesty. He heard nothing in the moment, his cerulean and grey irises staring at the movement of your mouth, watching it open and close with each sentence you spoke. Your lips were curved down as you continued to yell at him. He suddenly felt light in your grasp. You had every right to tell him how you felt. He deserved your words.
He felt even lower than dirt. The steel door blocking him from your life grew thicker and thicker, leaving him vulnerable and isolated. He used to be untouchable. He would stand on his throne, watching as everyone slowly sank lower and lower. A surge of pride and power would fill his body as he watched those struggle to get to his point in life. Until you came, and sent one kick to his throne, making him fall right through as he desperately tried to sit on top once again.
You were a tide that kept washing him away. You caught him by surprise. Your twisted ways made him open up in ways he didn’t realize until it was too late.
The moon illuminated a path of soft light through the curtains in the pitch-black room. The modernized clock resting on Shouto’s bedside table read 5:37 AM. His orbs trained on the time, watching every second change with him. The red digitized numbers are slow to switch.
“Get the fuck away from me.”
His long fingers ran through his hair slowly, lowering his head to look down in his lap as his fingers scratched the back of his head, nails adding a slight sting. A small sigh of distress left him as he stretched his arms above his head, feeling the joints of his elbows crack with the movement.
It’s only been three weeks since his pride took over his brain. Whenever he tried to close his eyes, all he could see was you.
Every day, he would be bombarded with news headlines about how amazing and heroic he was the night before. It was almost as if it was mocking him, reminding him of how much of a horrible person he was. Yet, he couldn’t wipe away that smirk that made its way onto his face when he noticed more people speaking about him.
Big news broadcasting stations constantly asked for him to make an appearance on their shows, to which he happily obliged. Nothing made him more satisfied than being on the big screen for everyone to see. The shining star of the show making an entry. It pleased him.
He mindlessly scrolled through his twitter, noticing some merchandise links and useless tweets from his PR Team. Dozens of notifications flooded his timeline, fans pinging him for meetups, random DMs from his followers or getting nasty tweets—which he didn’t appreciate, but it was the internet, after all.
A red dot caught his attention from his DMs. Curiosity got the best of him as he clicked it, noticing none other than Ground Zero’s profile at the top.
Bakugou: So are we on for that stupid patrol or what? You never responded back asshole.
Oh, that.
Shouto groaned softly, completely forgetting that he had a patrol with Bakugou later today. He clicked the message, fingers immediately typing a response out.
Shouto: Yeah sure. Just meet at my agency at 2 PM.
Bakugou: Don’t tell me what to do bastard.
“Well that settles that,” he muttered, tossing his phone somewhere on his bed, not really caring where it landed. His back collided with the silk sheets, his body relaxing upon contact. His hand reached out to the spot beside him, slowly running his hand up and down on the empty space as if he was looking for something, or maybe someone.
His fingers curled around the material of his sheets, an iron grip at hand. He glanced over, expecting to be met with a pair of eyes or a back turned to him. Instead, he found nothing but the soft light produced by the moon. It peeked through his curtains, a small patch of light resting beside his relaxed body as if it was mocking him for his actions. His eyes gazed on the spot, noticing it was the area where you once laid. He growled quietly, grabbing one of his pillows, chucking it towards the curtains in anger.
Shouto watched the pillow collide and fall on the floor. His lips parted slightly as small puffs of air left his mouth. “Stupid, stupid, stupid,” he muttered, running his hands over his face as he kept repeating the word. His hands hit his thighs with a slap, his nails digging into the skin and leaving crescent shape indents. “What the fuck am I even doing?” he questioned aloud.
“Here I am, in the middle of the night, letting my emotions get the best of me. What kind of crap is that?” He got off his bed, walking over to his dresser. He opened the top two drawers and pulled extra clothes out, deciding that a shower was the best course of action.
When he got in the shower, he closed his eyes as the beads of warm water hit his face and streamed down his body to the drain. His tufts of hair were plastered onto his face like glue. The water jet seemed to be on its best setting for his needs as he stood there, collecting his thoughts.
He placed his hands against the tiled walls of the shower, back muscles flexing as he lowered his head to look downward at the shower drain, watching the water gather around and go down the hole. His long hair at the top covered his eyes, the water trailing down his nose as the droplets hit the bottom of the tub.
“Fuck. What the hell is wrong with me?” he groaned, standing up straight as he slicked his hair back.
☽✧ ✦ ✧☾
You hated it. You hated how weak you became in an instant. In a snap, everything went downhill. You weren’t able to smile as bright as you did before. You hated how he was able to get under your skin and become the only thing you could think about. He was a parasite to you. You despised him, yet he somehow came back to annoy the hell out of you.
Oh? Is it not? How much longer are you going to deny it? When are you going to learn Y/N? I’m Shouto! One or if not the greatest hero out there! I always get what I want. You were nothing but a stepping stool.”
Your eyes widened as you misplaced your foot, tripping over the ledge of your car. You quickly grabbed a hold of the handle, keeping yourself upright. You felt your cheeks swell in embarrassment as you quickly regained your composure, clearing your throat. Shutting the car door shut, you looked up to the powerful building that was the viewpoint in all of Japan.
Shouto’s Agency.
Just the mere thought of seeing him made you grit your teeth in anger. Your blood boiled at the fact that you had to step a single foot into that forsaken place, and even had to share the same air as him.
The soles of your shoes hit against the cement as you walked around your car, opening the other side to stare at the brown box full of objects that had no use to you. This box was filled with Shouto’s things that he left at your place and the daycare. You didn’t feel like burning them, so giving them back would suffice. Holding the object in your arms weighed more than it had to.
You bumped your hip against the door to shut it, and felt no use in locking it. A small sigh left your lips as you walked to the entryway. Each step felt heavy, like the earth could swallow you whole. Your pulse was beating like crazy, at any moment you wouldn’t be surprised if your heart jumped out from your mouth.
You stopped your movements in front of the doors, watching them slide open before continuing inside. Upon entering, you were hit with the smell of new furniture—which was just the recently cleaned objects and cold air from the ceiling fans. The room was dimly lit, relying on the light from the outside. The main foyer had couches and small tables laid out, covering the area. Men and women filled the furniture, reading a book, or talking amongst themselves.
You noticed that some of the workers were actually some of Shouto’s sidekicks or new interns he once told you about. Even just looking at them made you sick to your stomach.
Clearing your throat, you walked over to the main desk and dropped the box on the counter, watching the employee jump in surprise.
“Uh- Hi yeah, I’m here to drop off some things for Todoroki.”
“For Shouto?” the lady asked and looked up at you. “Hey aren’t you that girl he-”
“Yeah that’s me,” you interrupted her. “I just wanted to give his things back.”
She fixed her glasses and nodded, chewing on her gum as she typed something on her computer. “Alright, I’ll let Todoroki know.”
“Let me know what?”
You froze at the voice, your body stiffening up. Your blood ran cold as you heard footsteps get closer to you from behind until the presence of a body was close. The hairs on the back of your neck stood up as a deep laugh filled your eyes.
“I didn’t expect to see you so soon. Miss me already?”
You growled quietly as you took a step to the side, refusing to face him. Don’t give him the pleasure of seeing you. He doesn’t deserve another glance. He doesn’t deserve anything from you.
“I know you can hear me sweetheart. Come on, let’s talk.” His voice sent chills through your body. His hand rested on your shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze.
You swiveled around, raising your hand as your palm collided with his cheek. Your vision was blurry as you let out a choked sob, your hand still raised in the air. Your heart was beating out of your chest. The sound caught everyone's attention as they all stared at the commotion. Shouto moved his jaw slightly and rubbed his cheek, wincing slightly. There was now a red imprint on the swollen skin. “Damn, you really know how to slap someone huh?”
“I thought I made my point clear,” you sneered, lowering your hand to rest by your side. “I said I never wanted to talk to you again. I don’t want to see your face again.”
“Well, you came by didn’t you? Must have needed something from me if you decided to show up.”
“I came,” you started, ignoring the lingering stares from the bystanders, “To drop off your things. I could have burned them, but instead I decided to bring them back to you. Trash belongs with other types of trash, doesn’t it?”
The man in front of you laughed softly, shaking his head. Why was he laughing in a moment like this?
“Feisty, huh? Guess that was one of the things I love about you.”
Shouto had the audacity to say that he loved you? Even after all the shit he pulled?
“Oh no you don’t. Don’t you dare fucking say that word.” You wiped your nose with the sleeve of your jacket. “You don’t fucking love anything. No one but yourself. You’re a selfish bastard, how many times do I have to tell you? You are the worst in all of Japan.”
Even hearing those words for the second time in his life, he couldn’t shake the feeling off. Was he hurting? Was he turning upset?
Deciding enough was enough, you nodded in self-reassurance and turned around, only to collide face-first into a muscular chest. “Hey!”
“Hey? That’s what you say when you bump into someone? Some manners you got.”
You automatically recognized the voice and pulled away as if he had the plague.
Standing in the flesh, Ground Zero stared down at you with his intense vermillion eyes, his arms crossed over his torso, wearing that famous scowl of his.
“Some manners I got?” you growled and looked up at him. “Why do I have to move for you? You saw me here, didn’t you? Oh just because you’re in the top five, that gives you authority to act like that?”
His eyes widened slightly in shock. “Hey that’s not-”
“You know what? If all heroes are like him,” you yelled, pointing a finger at the bi-colored male behind you. “Then you guys need to stop being heroes! There’s no point in being out there if you don’t care for those in need! What kind of fakes are you guys?!”
Not giving him a chance to respond, you brushed past him, purposely bumping his shoulder with yours. He stumbled slightly, placing his hand on the counter to regain his balance. “What the fuck was that?” he whispered, watching you exit the main foyer.
Shouto sighed dramatically and shook his head, rubbing the bridge of his nose. “She’s always been like that.”
“Who the fuck is that?”
Shouto quirked an eyebrow and crossed his arms over his torso. “Why do you ask, Ground Zero?”
“I asked because she’s hot. I asked because I’m fucking curious, you bastard!”
The bi-colored male tilted his head slightly in confusion before shrugging, running his fingers through his hair. “That’s Y/L/N Y/N. She works at the local daycare about 20 minutes from here.”
“And how do you know her? What the hell was this shit show that just happened.”
“Oh, that? Don’t worry about it too much. She’ll come back soon.”
A laugh rumbled in the depths of Shouto’s throat as his finger traced the sensitive skin of his cheek. Bakugou stared at him, unamused.
“She rocked your shit and you’re saying don’t worry about it? What kind of bullshit answer is that?”
“Sounds to me like someone is scared to be seen with the number one pro hero, but that would be silly huh?” Shouto asked, completely dodging Bakugou’s questions as he checked his hand, front and back.
“Hah?! What did you say?! I’m not afraid of anything! Especially you!! Now quit talking and start fucking moving!” Bakugou shoved a gloved finger in Shouto’s direction before swiveling around. The ash-blond’s footsteps boomed with each step he took. He clenched and unclenched his fingers, his gauntlet hitting his hips as he walked.
“What kind of bullshit answer is that?” he grumbled, tapping his foot against the cement sidewalk as he waited for the number one hero to come outside. For someone who wanted to patrol, he was sure taking his sweet time.
“Shall we?” Shouto called from behind, walking past him. His chest was puffed out, his chin raised proudly in the air. A sly smirk was displayed on his face as he glanced at Bakugou from the corner of his eye. “Better get a move on. I would hate for you to fall behind.”
Bakugou gritted his teeth as he followed Shouto from behind. Many people on the streets gasped in astonishment at two of the top five heroes walking together. Children pointed at them from across the street, a toothy grin and shining sparkling eyes trained on them.
“Look, papa! It’s Ground Zero and Shouto! I want their autograph!”
Shouto’s head perked up at the sound of his name and looked over to the small boy, who was bouncing up and down. Amused by his antics, Shouto walked over to the boy and crouched down to his height.
A small smile was plastered onto his features as he patted him gently on top of the little boy’s head. “You wanted an autograph?”
The boy’s eyes widened as he nodded furiously, clenching his fists in front of his body. “Y-Yeah! Can you sign my backpack?!”
“Turn around, bud.”
He did as told, almost too fast as he stumbled over his own two feet. The pro hero took the sharpie from his smaller hands. Taking the cap off with his teeth, he kept it enclosed between the pearly whites as he quickly signed the backpack.
“There. Now it looks even more amazing.”
“T-Thank you, Shouto! G-Ground Zero, can you sign mine?!” he gasped and approached rather quickly, holding the sharpie in his head.
Bakugou wasn’t one for signings out of the blue, but this was an exception.
The blonde nodded and took the marker away from him, turning the boy around as he signed near Shouto’s signature, making it a tad bit bigger on purpose.
“Thank you!” he exclaimed and ran back to his dad, who wasn’t that far away. Both heroes could hear the excitement in his tone as he shoved the backpack into his father’s arms.
“I thought you never do signings like this. Has the Ground Zero gotten soft?”
Bakugou clicked his tongue in annoyance, refusing to be part of Shouto’s games. “Whatever, idiot. Just keep on walking.”
“Oh, is someone upset?”
“Shut up and stop talking!!”
☽✧ ✦ ✧☾
The patrol was nothing out of the ordinary. The two heroes made their roundabouts, no trouble seemed to bother them. The only thing that annoyed Bakugou more than anything was the fact that Shouto couldn’t keep his mouth shut. And paperwork was the worst of all. Shouto kept asking small insignificant questions that drove Katsuki up the wall.
Finally getting away from the devil himself, Katuski found himself standing in front of his car, his eyes hard and intense as he had his toned arms crossed over his torso. His eyes trained over a building, taking in the colorful delicate patterns of butterflies and kids smiling on the walls. The paint wasn’t chipping off. Instead it looked like it was fresh, maybe too fresh. The newly trimmed hedges that outline the building bloomed with budding roses. The flowers in the white pots loomed over the ground, each dancing tauntingly with the wind that sent small shivers through his hoodie and caused his hair to sway with each breeze.
Katuski analyzed the area once more before placing his hands behind him on the hood of the car and pushed off, walking towards the door.
Unlike Shouto Todoroki, Katsuki Bakugou arrived with a calm and open mind. Upon reaching the door, he noticed a hanging pot filled with yellow carnations. The bright color of the petals fluttered as if they were welcoming him. He stared, mesmerized by the color before shaking his head quickly, bringing his hand up to the door. His knuckles met with the door once, twice, and finally a third time before lowering it again.
Shuffling could be heard from the other side of the door as the knob turned, the wooden surface opening up.
Katsuki took sight of you, eyeing you up and down before meeting your eyes.
“G-Ground Zero?! W-What are you doing here?! This is so unexpected wow! I’m such a mess, god I’m so sorry! If only I knew you would come I would have at least cleaned myself up!”
“Can you stop rambling and actually let me talk?”
You stopped mid-sentence and shut your mouth, before opening it again. “Yeah uh… why are you here?”
“I wanted to talk to you.”
“T-To me?” You looked over your shoulder to make sure no one was behind you. No one was; you just couldn’t believe what you were hearing.
“Well yeah, who else am I gonna be talking to?”
“I- just you know after I went off on you there… I just didn’t expect you to ya know, come visit. Just caught me by surprise.”
“That’s actually what I wanted to talk about.”
“Oh. Well, we can talk then.”
“Out here? Please,” he scoffed and made his way inside, causing you to press up against the door as he walked past you. In those three seconds, you could smell his natural scent of ash and caramel with a hint of smoky wood. It pleased you.
You automatically shut the door and followed him. He was sitting down on the couch with his hands behind his head, but with his legs bent, no manspreading. His attitude was drastically different from Shouto’s.
“Well,” you started, sitting across from him as you rubbed your sweaty palms on your thighs. “What did you want to talk about?”
“What happened between you guys.”
“Between who?”
“You and Icy-Hot. I saw you hit him and tried prying answers out of him. Better to get it from the other side than from someone whose head is up their fucking ass.”
“Oh,” you whispered and sunk your teeth on your lower lip, looking away. “That’s personal. Whatever happened between me and him, will stay between me and him. Besides, it wasn’t a big deal anyway.”
“Big deal?! You smack his face and say it’s not a big deal? Damn, what kind of shit answers are those?”
“Realistic answers!” you choked out, feeling your voice crack mid speaking. “They are realistic answers.”
“Real huh?” he whispered before leaning forward, clasping his hands in his lap. “Fine. Let’s be real, okay? You guys slept together huh? And he decided he didn’t want you anymore. Is that what happened? That’s the type of guy he is after all.”
Hearing his words made you realize how shitty you’ve been feeling. He was only in your presence for five minutes or less and he already cracked your mid-life crisis. The quiver in your lip was his answer.
“So that’s what happened then,” he whispered.
“And what if it did?! It doesn’t matter, like I said! I was his stepping stool! He didn’t care! I was his doormat and I let him walk over me because I was too gullible to notice before! He’s a fucking heartless asshole!” you cried out, hiccuping as you covered your face from him, shielding the somewhat dignity you had left. Your nose was getting stuffed up by the second as you sniffled, letting out another pained sob, the first of many that day. Each day would end like this, you going into a state of confusion and would cry yourself to sleep. It was a continuous cycle of pain that you wanted to end.
“Everyone thinks of him as this high and mighty person that cares for others, but he doesn’t!” You looked into the hero’s eyes, your own filled with nothing but defeat and pain, the whites of your eyes now turning red from the onslaught of crying. “I hate him! I fucking hate him!” each word had a powerful meaning behind it. “He ruined me! He had me wrapped around his finger and played me like a fiddle!”
Bakugou felt bad for you. You went from someone who told him off hours earlier, to sobbing up a storm and ranting about your feelings. He felt awkward sitting there as you poured out to your heart’s content. His body was tense as he fiddled with the pocket of his black hoodie. Seeing you there hopeless made his heart sting with pain, and he felt like he had to save you, even though he didn’t know you.
To be your hero. The hero you deserve, not Shouto Todoroki.
He contemplated something before standing up and walked over to you. The couch creaked at the new addition of weight that was put on top. “Look,” he started as his mind went blank. What was he going to say? Hey, it's okay, forget him. He's legit shit anyway. How do you comfort someone when their relationship was a total lie?
Your sobs filled his ears as he sighed softly, rubbing his temple in growing annoyance. “First of all stop crying already!”
The sudden change of tone surprised you as you stared at him with innocent wide eyes. “W-What?”
“I said stop fucking crying. It doesn’t look good on you.”
You let out a hiccup as you wiped your eyes with the pad of your fingers. For some reason, Katsuki thought you looked like the most beautiful person on the planet. Here you were, in raw emotion for some idiot who wasn’t worth your time, yet at the same time you decided to show Katsuki and no one else. It filled him with a sense of peace that you trusted him enough, despite barely knowing him.
The ceiling fan shined artificial light upon you, somehow making you look ethereal as your tears glistened. Your lips formed in a pout as your bottom lip kept quivering, no matter how many times you tried to control it. The tips of your ears were red, your cheeks joining in on the rosy color. Your makeup was nowhere perfect anymore. Mascara dribbled down your face as it mixed with your tears, black staining your cheeks.
“Are you done crying yet?”
There was a moment of silence before another whimper left your throat as you shook your head. “N-No!”
Yet again another round of painful sobs wracked through your body. Your head was starting to hurt at the attack to your body. Bakugou inhaled deeply as he wrapped an arm around your shoulder, bringing you closer to his chest. He could feel your shaking form as you threw your arms around him, burying your head into the crook of his neck.
“H-He-”
“Shut up,” he grumbled, his voice rough around the edges, but wasn’t his normal tone. His calloused hand pressed against your back, his fingers slowly running up and down as his thumbs rubbed small circles to calm you down. “He’s a shit person. I get it. But you aren’t going to sit here and cry about him forever, are you?”
The silence was a sign to continue on.
“He played you. He’s an asshole, but I didn’t know he was this big of a dick. Everyone plays him as Mr. Nice Guy or Mr. Hero. I didn’t know he was this bad,” he muttered, bringing a hand to cradle the back of your head, stroking the skin behind your neck in a soothing manner. “Honestly, fuck him. He doesn’t deserve your time and certainly doesn’t deserve your stupid fucking tears. He still thinks you’re going to go back to him. Why don’t you show him who the bigger person is, hah?”
“He thinks I’m going back to him?” you whispered, your words coming out muffled due to hiding your head from him.
“Yeah. He does. His head is so clouded with stupidity that he thinks he’ll always get what he wants.”
“...he is pretty stupid.”
The rumbling in his chest indicated he found it funny, but true. He pushed you away from his chest, placed his hands on your shoulders, and stared into your tear-filled eyes. “So. What are you going to then, Princess?”
You licked your lips and looked down at your lap, staring at the palms of your hands. “I’m going to... Stop crying over him, m-move on and be the bigger person?”
“Are you asking me? Or are you telling me?”
“I-I’m telling you!”
His lips curved upward slightly as he wrapped his arm around you, bringing you to his chest once more. “Guys like him expect everyone to spoon feed him because of his reputation. And everyone says I’m the worst out of the top five,” he grumbled to himself, running his hand up and down your back. “I’ll take care of you. I promise you that.”
☽✧ ✦ ✧☾
A man of his word, Bakugou did as he promised. Since that day he visited you the first time, you stayed in contact. You were wary of course, looking for any red flags that history could possibly repeat itself.
Unlike Shouto, Katsuki couldn’t come around as much. As he told you before, his hero work was the most important since where his agency was stationed, there was a lot of crime. You respected that, of course. It made you feel happy when he would talk to you on the phone about the amount of citizens he saved and how many villains he took down by himself. The kids, they went wild.
When one of the girls took notice of a gauntlet laying around the room, she screamed in happiness saying that Ground Zero was here, or that you bought a knock-off from online. Of course from the screaming, the pro hero ran inside at top speed, looking for any sign of danger.
“Where is it?!”
“It’s Ground Zero!!”
A flock of children surrounded him as they screamed incoherent words of happiness, jumping up and down as if he was their idol; which he was.
“How hot can your explosions get?!”
“Do you burn yourself?!”
“Can you fly?!”
“Do you sneeze and they go off?!”
“Hah?!” he yelled and crossed his arms over his torso, looking away. “What kind of fucking questions are those?!”
“Bakugou!” you snapped, walking into view with a bag of something inside. “We talked about using that language in here!”
“What does ‘fucking’ mean?” a little girl asked, tugging on the material of his pants, looking up at him with child innocent eyes.
His mouth parted but no answer came out. His cream-colored cheeks soon became a soft rosy red as he looked away quickly. “I-”
“I bought mochi!” you said quickly, lifting the bag up and shaking it slightly to grab their attention. At the mention of treats, they all scrambled away from him and stood in front of you with happy grins and eyes.
“Get in a line. Bakugou, come help me please.”
The ash-blond groaned but walked to you anyway, taking the small bowl from you that held the dough filled with sweet ice cream. He eyes them warily before crouching down to their level and stuck the bowl out for their awaiting grabbing hands.
“Only one,” he said to a little boy who laughed joyously and placed it back before running to his friend, comparing the flavors they had.
“And one for me,” you teased, taking one from him. Bakugou clicked his tongue in annoyance and placed the bowl back on the small table. “I don’t know how you can eat those. They seem too sweet. Spicy is where it’s at.”
“Well I’m not going to burn a bunch of six-year-olds’ tongues either, Bakugou!” you huffed and took a bite out of the dough, the taste of the sweet ice cream filled your tastebuds. “Come on try some!” you lifted the sweet to his mouth, urging him to bite it.
“Hah?! That’s bad for you!”
“Come on, Katsuki. Are you afraid of a little sweet? Never took you for the scared type.” You grinned. His heart fluttered at the sound of his name leaving your lips. He growled and snatched the green treat from you.
“‘M’not scared!” he yelled and eyed the delicious treat before taking a bite out of it. His eyes widened slightly from their original state and chewed slowly. He looked away from you and swallowed. “Not bad, still tastes like shit.”
A happy smile graced your features at his change of heart over something as small as this. “So will you eat the rest of it with me?”
“I guess. Only if you wipe that stupid dopey smile off your face.”
A cry of pain distracted you from your reverie as you turned quickly to find the source of pain.
A group of kids was surrounding one young girl who had a hand covering her eye.
“Himarie, sweetie what happened?” You asked the small girl, kneeling beside her as your hand hesitantly reached for hers that shielded her eye.
“Fire!”
“Fire? Honey let me see.”
“I’ll hurt you!”
“No you won’t. Come on, let me see.” you encouraged her softly, wrapping your hand around her smaller wrist and lowered it slowly.
Fire shot out from her eye as soon as her hand was lowered. She cried in pain and covered it again, whimpering softly.
The rug caught on fire as you shrieked, moving the kids out of the way. “K-Katsuki!”
“Got it,” the male voiced out, immediately putting out the fire with the fire extinguisher, his tongue peeking out in concentration. He let out a huff and lowered the hose. “Looks like someone got their quirk. That’s a nice one if I do say so myself.” He put the red canister down and walked over to where you and Himarie stood.
“Is she going to be okay Miss Y/N?!”
“Yes, she’s going to be okay. She’s a strong girl, aren’t you honey?” you whispered softly and stroked her brown hair.
“Let me see,” Bakugou whispered, nudging you away from her gently. “Look at me.”
She shook her head, afraid of hurting him as well. “I’ll burn you!”
“I burn myself on a daily basis, Himarie. I’m used to it. Now let me see.”
The brunette shakily lowered her head, her bottom lip quivering in fear.
Bakugou analyzed her before bringing a hand to her face, rubbing her cheek softly with his thumb. “You’re scared huh? I remember when I first got my quirk. I was scared. I thought I would blow myself up at one point. But there’s nothing to be afraid of. You’ll learn how to control it soon,” he said to her, his voice soft yet rough at the same time. Each word seemed to roll off his tongue with ease, as if he was made for moments like this. His larger hand patted her head gently.
Himarie continued to stare at him with uncertainty before launching herself onto him, her small arms encircling his neck. “T-Thank you Ground Zero!”
He tensed up before hesitantly wrapping an arm around her, patting her back with a gentle touch. “Of course. That’s what we’re here for anyway, to make sure kids like you are out of harm’s way. Just don’t do anything stupid with that, got it?”
You watched a few steps away, your heart softening at the moment in front of you. In all of his fame, his unruly behavior was something that everyone saw. This moment was intoxicating to you. You wanted to see more of him like this. If only the public knew this was how Bakugou Katsuki was, everyone would be throwing themselves at him. The only difference between him and Shouto, was that Bakugou cares. He did it to save those in need, to be a protector, not for the fame and the money.
His vermillion orbs met yours as the corner of his lips curled into a smirk, sending a small wink your way. A wave of heat flooded your cheeks as you gave him a small wave in return. The light’s reflection illuminated his eyes, the different colors of his irises shining. It was amazing to see him here. You only wished for one thing: that he was here before Shouto Todoroki.
☽✧ ✦ ✧☾
As time went by, the hot atmosphere turned chilly, and the trees turned to orange and red. Fall approached faster than anything. Months upon months passed by without a second thought.
The cold air of the autumn wind descends upon you, each needle of the breeze poking through any open outlet through your clothes. You buried your nose in your burgundy scarf, begging for any type of warmth to relieve your shaking body. The vibrant assortments of oranges and red were pleasing to the eye, but getting harder to appreciate as each second passed by.
Your hands were stuffed in the pocket of your jackets as you kept your head down to shield your eyes from any upcoming harsh wind. The annual fall festival arrived and that was something you wanted to see, with a special someone of course.
“Are you that fucking cold?”
You peered up through your lashes, glancing at the blond who walked beside you with ease. He seemed to be content with just his jacket and scarf. His hands were stuffed in his pockets, his fingers curling and uncurling from the inside.
“Y-y-yes I’m cold!” you spoke through your chattering teeth, bringing your hands up and placing them underneath your armpits, relishing in the warmth from your jacket. Your eyes trained over the different stands full of crafts, food, and beverages.
“That’s too bad.” you could hear the smugness in his tone as you continued to walk the brick pathway through the festival. “Your teeth look like they could fall out any minute now due to your stupid chattering.”
“Well not everyone is a walking heater, Katsuki,” you chirped, your voice muffled by the fabric of your scarf warming your neck. “If I was, I’d be looking like you.”
“Like me?! What’s that supposed to mean, hah?!”
“Meaning I could wear a jacket and a skirt and not worry about the cold! I said what I said!”
Bakugou growled and tugged you closer by your elbow, no ill intent in his hold. His hand reached under your elbow, his fingers digging into your skin. It was a simple yet meaningful gesture.
A small smile graces your features as your eyes watch the leaves fall from their respected trees, trails of orange and red filling your vision. The sky was a pink layout with splotches of blue and orange that complimented each other. The clouds floating through the sky effortlessly, the sun saying its slow goodbye before sleeping for the night until the next morning.
“I wish they had more festivals like this.”
“Well if they did, stupid villains would be surrounding this shit place anyway.”
You rolled your eyes in annoyance, leaning your head on his bicep as your fingers curled around his arm. “Uh-huh, sure. Way to be optimistic about it.”
“Just being realistic. Something you should be.”
“Hey!” you pouted, feigning hurt. “I can be realistic!”
Bakugou gave you a side glance before shaking his head. “Don’t fool both of us dumbass.”
You whined and stood on your tiptoes, placing a quick kiss to his cold cheek. “The only one I can fool is you after all.”
A pleased hum left his throat as he laced your fingers together, the warmth radiating from his palm automatically making you fuzzy inside.
Ever since Shouto left, you felt confused, lost and most importantly, empty. The void in your heart felt that it would never be filled again. Shouto left and took your happiness with him, deciding to leave you a wreck for this own personal pleasure. He was everywhere you looked, paper news, broadcasting, twitter. It was like you couldn’t escape him. Each time you saw a photo of him, he always had the same expression. A smug smirk would grace his features, it was taunting you and you knew it.
When Bakugou entered your life, it made you realize that you didn’t have to worry about someone like Shouto ruining you again. Bakugou slowly filled the void in your heart, and you were beyond thankful. At first, you didn’t trust him at all. He was in fact in the top five heroes, and was known as the mean one in the public eye. You couldn’t tell if his actions were genuine or just for show to lure you in like a predator.
“Hey.”
“Huh?” You shook your head, kicking you out of your daze as you looked up at the male.
“Y-yeah?”
“Why do you look like that?” he asked, but more in a demanding tone.
“This is my face?”
“No, you idiot. You look lost. What’s wrong?”
“Just thinking about before is all, ya know, Shouto,” you muttered the last part, your head lowering in shame.
“Well stop thinking of that icy-hot bastard. I hate the way you get over some stupid guy like him,” he growled, his finger curling under your chin to make you look up at him. “Cause Princess, he’s an idiot for letting someone as beautiful as you go.”
He leaned closer, pressing his lips against yours tenderly. Your hand reached up and cradled his cheek, rubbing the swell with your thumb gently. His arm wrapped around your waist tightens, bringing you closer to his chest. In your moment of love, unbeknownst to you, the sound of a camera went off.
☽✧ ✦ ✧☾
He couldn’t believe what he was seeing. His grey and cerulean orbs filled with anger, staring down at the photo that was displayed on his phone, a new headline for the news.
Ground Zero getting comfy at the Autumn Festival!
Shouto’s fingers curled around his phone, his hand unintentionally getting colder by the minute. He was seething in anger. His shoulders moved with his erratic breathing as he threw his phone across his desk, ignoring the noise of his device hitting the ground.
A small flame emitted from his hand. He abruptly stood up, gripping the edge of his desk with a vice-like grip, his fingers slowly turning white from the pressure. His fingernails dug into the hardwood, ignoring the pain shooting through his arms. He sunk his teeth into his lower lip as his hands let go of the edges before reaching under and threw his arms up, flipping the wooden desk over in anger.
The furniture broke on impact as he groaned out in annoyance. Not only were things not going his way, but he also needed to buy a new desk.
“Just who in the hell does he think he is?” he whispered angrily, running his hand through his hair as he paced back and forth in his office, his footsteps hard against the rug. “Just walking in her life and thinking he can do that? He’s far from right.”
Shouto was no idiot. He was intelligent and knew what happened on the sidelines. Bakugou stayed with you to help out with the daycare. He did the same exact thing as Shouto did, and oh did it piss him off more than anything. In Shouto’s eyes, you were going to come back to him. You might just be acting up, but you’ll return to him.
He quickly glanced at the clock on the wall. It read 4:46 PM. From what he remembered, the daycare should be closing at 5 PM. If he left now, he could probably stop you before you headed home.
The chiming of his phone knocked him from his cloud of thoughts as he walked over to the shattered screen, the light illuminating on his face.
Midoriya
“Fuck,” he groaned and reached above his head, his joints cracking with the movement. His finger tapped the green circle as he brought his phone to his ear, sighing softly. “Hello?”
“Hi Todoroki! I just wanted to make sure you knew about tomorrow still!”
“...what’s tomorrow?”
“You forgot already? Figures if you’re so busy! It’s the meet and greet we have with Kacchan tomorrow!”
He choked on his spit as he coughed into his hand in shock. “T-that’s tomorrow?!”
“Yeah! Your PR team didn’t tell you?”
“Uh...” he trailed off, glancing at the mess of his room. Pens and papers were scattered all over the place. “I’m sure they did. Whatever, what time was it at?”
“11 AM!”
“Do I have to go?”
“Of course you have to Todoroki-kun! You’re number one! And number one has to be there, remember?!”
Number one.
Hearing those words made butterflies flutter in his stomach as his head filled with conceited thoughts. He smirked faintly as he hung his head back, staring at the ceiling. “Yeah. You’re right. I am number one, and I always get what I want.”
“What was that? You cut out at the end.”
“Huh? Nothing, don’t worry about it. I’ll see you in the morning with...him.”
“Oh speaking about Kacchan, did you see the photos? Turns out he was with that girl you were seeing before you broke up!”
He growled into the microphone, his noise being caught by Midoriya’s ears. “I saw. They look terrible together.”
“You think so? I think they look cute together! I’m glad he found someone.”
“Yeah well I’m not,” he snapped and began to pace around the room. “I know she’s playing hard to get. She came to visit me again even after saying to fuck off. That obviously means something. I mean, why wouldn’t she want me? I’m rich, successful and the highest out of everyone. Why would she settle for him?” he spat, his voice dripping with malice and hatred for the blond.
“Uh, Todoroki? Do you hear how you’re sounding right now?”
“Course I do.”
“Then don’t you think you’re being a bit too...over the top?”
“I’m not. I sound perfectly fine. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have business to take care of.”
“Ahh okay! See you tomorrow Todoroki-kun!”
Without saying goodbye, Shouto hit the red circle and turned his phone off, shoving it into his front pocket. “I guess some things I have to keep working for,” he whispered and walked past the mess he made prior to the phone call, to the door. His hand wrapped around the knob and twisted it, pulling it to open the door.
“I’m Shouto. I’ll win her back. She’ll realize I’m the one for her, and he’s complete utter shit. I’ll get her back. I’m the best after all.”
An amusing chuckled rumbled through his chest as he made his way down the corridor, on his way to take back what was his first.
☽✧ ✦ ✧☾
Shouto Todoroki would have never thought about this situation in a million years. Yet again, here he was. Arriving at the daycare with a frown upon his face, he exited the vehicle with a gentle push of the driver’s door, the car not moving from the gentle force. He took one glance at the daycare and sighed softly. “It’ll be easy,” he whispered to himself, letting one foot lead in front of the other. As he walked to the entrance, he took notice of the new and improved details. The once peeling paint was newly refurbished, each drawing looking amazing as ever. The hedges surrounded the center like a barrier, protecting them from him. The flowers he ordered were no longer there, which he assumed they died over time or you tossed them out, Instead, they were replaced with lilies and roses, each color displaying just for him. The color orange only reminded him of Katsuki Bakugou, a newfound hatred for him. Each flower moved with the wind as they greeted him.
He walked to the front door with his hands shoved deep into his pockets. Upon reaching it, he slowly lifted a hand that seemed to weigh more than anything in the world. He let out a shaky sigh and let his knuckles hit the door twice. Shouto brought his hand to his mouth and wiped it, his lips dry from nervousness.
He felt as if years passed by as he stood there, waiting for you or someone to answer. He hoped it was only you, but by the looks of it, another car was parked beside yours, and it definitely wasn’t one of the employees.
The sweet melody of laughter filled his ears as he stared at the knob moving to open the door. The hinges squeaked and it was pulled open, Shouto keeping his eyes trained forward.
You opened the door with a laugh, Bakugou bringing up an old memory from his high school years.
Your smile faltered as it was automatically wiped with your face, a scowl replacing it instead. “What do you want?”
“I want to talk to you.”
“I don’t,” you snapped and went to close the door in his face but he stuck his foot out last second, the only thing keeping you from shutting him out forever.
“Please. I just want to talk.”
You said nothing in return, slowly opening the door again. You stood in front of the frame, your arms crossed over your torso. “Outside.”
“Princess? Who is at the door?”
Shouto’s ears perked at the sound of Bakugou’s voice as he tried looking over your shoulder before you moved in front of his line of sight. “No one Katsuki! Give me five!” you yelled back, pressing a hand against Shouto’s chest and you pushed him slightly, shutting the door behind you.
“Princess? He’s here too? So you’re fucking him now?”
“And what if I am? What’s it matter to you, Todoroki? Why do you care now? We aren’t together. You made that quite clear a year ago.”
“I know but, him? Out of all people you went for him?”
“Yeah, I did. Is that a problem for you? Oh wait, I guess it is if we are even having this conversation. Plus I thought you wanted to talk. Not pick on the things you think are wrong with my life.”
Shouto’s hands twitched by his side, itching to feel your body against his once more. “I-“
“Or is the problem is that you can’t even hold a real conversation without making it about you, huh?”
“That’s not true.”
“Oh, it’s not?” You tilted your head to the side. “Prove it then, right now. What the hell is so important that you have to bug me?” you demanded. You hated how he could just waltz up in here and act like nothing happened. One of the many things you hated about him.
“I’m sorry.”
You choked on air as you stared at him, shocked. “You— you’re what?”
“I said I’m sorry.”
“Y-You’re sorry?”
He nodded quietly, a look of sadness in his eyes. You didn’t believe him one bit. You couldn’t. If he was actually sorry, why did he wait so long? Did he expect you to make the first move?
“If you are, why did you wait so long?” you whispered softly, the ground becoming your main interest as you kicked at it gently with the tip of your shoe. “Why a year? Why not when I saw you again?”
“...I don’t know. I thought you would have come back to me after what I said. I didn’t think it would get this out of hand. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean anything I said back then.”
“I don’t believe you Shouto. I’m sorry but I can’t. You caused me so much fucking pain that I—“ you cut yourself off, letting out a shaky breath. “— I couldn’t even trust him. It took me so long to finally trust Katsuki because of you. You ripped my heart and took it with you until you didn’t need me anymore for your selfish desires. You don’t care for me Shouto, you never have.”
“Y/N,” he whispered and took a step forward, halting when he saw you take a step away from him. “Please. I still love you.”
“No you don’t!” you yelled suddenly, clenching your fists as you looked into his eyes. Your vision became glossy with tears, the glistening substance trailing down your face. “You don’t! Stop lying to me! When will you stop lying to people Shouto?! Don’t you see?! We have feelings! We get hurt!” you cried out, pointing a finger in his way. “We aren’t for your personal pleasures!! You used me! You threw me out! And now that I’m finally happy, you want me back?!”
Your bottom lip quivered in pain as you let out a choked sob, bringing a hand to shield it from him. “You aren’t the only human on this planet! Stop pretending that you are! You can’t even see the real message in front of you, can you?!”
Shouto stood there in shock. His mind was moving a thousand miles per hour but nothing left his lips. His body refused to move any closer to your, afraid of a future he didn’t want. He loves you. After all this time, he’s in love with you. He misses your small kisses, your beautiful laugh, your smile that was only for him. He misses seeing you beside him in the awakening morning, your messy hair or tired displays of love. Yet in his own foolishness, he lost you.
“I always thought I might be bad, now I’m sure that it’s true,” he started off with a whisper, letting his body move on its own. “Cause I think you’re so good, and I’m nothing like you, Y/N.”
“Stop coming towards me.”
He didn’t listen, only advancing forward to you. You sunk your teeth into your lower lip as you placed a hand behind you, feeling the door that was behind you. He bent one leg slightly, looming over you. You lifted a hand up, bringing it down to slap him but he caught it last second, holding both of your wrists in his hand.
“Look at you go, I just adore you,” he whispered softly, his voice sending chills through your body. His own orbs glossed with tears, sniffling as he rested his forehead against yours. His eyes squeezed shut as his tears cascaded down his face, the substance hitting against your hands.
“I wish that I knew what makes you think I’m so special,” you whispered meekly, your voice cracking with each word that left your mouth. The wavering in your vocal cords made you upset with yourself. His fingers tighten around your smaller hands, bringing them to his chest. You could feel the steady beat of his heart.
“I learned how to love like you… and in my own stupidity, I ruined it. Please, all I ask is for one more chance. I’m better than him, ” he opened his eyes, his heterochromia ones staring into your own. His tears flowed effortlessly.
Here was the man that once said he didn’t need anyone at the top. That he was the one looking over everyone with no one by his side, that no one was worthy of him. The one who couldn’t believe in trust. The one who was the best at everything. The one who got what he always wanted. Here was the man that you fell head over heels for, but got your heart crushed in the process. Leaving you for the dust, you were left. Until someone else came in, slowly picking up the pieces of your broken heart and piecing them back together until you were ready to hand your heart off to him.
You squirmed in Shouto’s grip until your hands broke free from his grip. “Get off!!” you yelled, pushing him off of you with full force, watching him stumble back and fall on his ass, landing on the soft grass.
“What part don’t you get anymore?! I said I never wanted to see you again and you want to talk and pull that crap?!”
“That’s not—“
“That’s not what?!” you yelled, your tears of sadness turning into fresh hot tears of anger. “You think you can come walking in here and say ‘Hey I’m super sorry I didn’t mean it! Can we get back together again?!’ Did you honestly think that would work, Shouto?! I don’t love you anymore!! I don’t want you anymore!!”
“Hey, what’s going on?!”
You swiveled around quickly, a sense of relief filing your body at the entrance of an ash blond. Bakugou walked up to you and noticed Shouto on the floor, his fingers digging into the earth. “What the hell is happening?”
“Katsuki,” you whispered and threw yourself at him, burying your head into his chest as your arms encircled his torso. His arms immediately wrapped around your body, bringing you closer into his protection.
“Why are you here, Icy-Hot?!”
Shouto got up quickly, wiping the dirt from his backside. “I came to talk to Y/N.”
“I don’t want to talk to you anymore!” you yelled, turning around slightly to face him. Your fingers dug into Bakugou’s side, not hard enough to cause any pain. “I want you gone!!”
“I’m not done talking with you yet!”
“She said she doesn’t want you here. Now leave!! I know you’re a fucking asshole but I didn’t know you can’t listen!!” Bakugou yelled, his face slowly turning into a rosy red as his anger levels rose. His grip on your body tightens, his knuckles turning white.
You cracked Bakugou’s jaw in your face, forcing him to look down at you. Yet, he couldn’t look at you, keeping his eyes trained on the hero in front of him. “Katsuki,” you whispered, gently patting his cheek. “Please look at me.”
The ash-blond reluctantly looked down at you, his nostrils flaring in anger. “I love you,” you said softly, your hand reaching up and brushing some hair out of his face.
His face softens at your words, feeling his anger slowly fade away. “I love you too.”
You nodded and pulled away from him, inhaling deeply as you walked up to Shouto, your head held high. He stared down at you with nothing but eyes full of defeat and sorrow. A small smile of sadness curved at your lips as you cupped his cheek. He closed his eyes as he leaned into your touch, begging for more of it.
“Shouto,” you whispered softly, keeping the gap between both of you evident for Katsuki’s observing eyes. “I don’t want to be with you anymore. I’m happy. Can’t you see?” you asked, pulling away from him. “I love Katsuki with all my heart. I want to be with him. What you and I had, that’s long gone. You decided that you didn’t need that, you didn’t bother to care for someone other than yourself. You chose this route, I didn’t. I loved and cared for you. I truly did.”
You took a step back and looked into his awaiting eyes, his heart waiting for the words he longed for, but knew he wasn’t getting them anytime soon. “You chose fame and money over me, I can’t get upset by your decision. All I ask, is that you leave the both of us alone. Please.”
“Y/N, please. I’m sorry for what I did. Please just-”
You shook your head and lifted your hand in the air, cutting him off. “I’m tired of hearing you now. Please, leave already. You’re making it worse by being here. So do us a favor before he comes in and does something he won’t forget.”
Shouto’s heart of stone fell to the base of his body, cracking upon contact and shattering into millions of pieces. This time it was unfixable. The last time he felt this hurt was when he was a mere child, seeing the abuse his mother was put through by his father. He felt lost and alone like no one was by his side. Here was the woman he loved. He thought he had a future with you. But let’s be realistic, after the show he put on a year ago, that dream was long gone. He chose this path, with many regrets. What was he even thinking? He let his pride win over his own humanity. And now he has to pay the price for it.
Without another word to you or Bakugou, he swiveled on his heel and rushed to his car, his hand fishing in his pocket for his keys. He opened the door as quick as he could and got inside, jabbing the keys to start it up. It wasn’t worth it if he couldn’t get back with you.
You stood under the tree, the sun making its way to take its rest for the day. The gentle rays of orange seep through the leaves, hitting your supple skin that gave you a glow. A small smile of satisfaction graced your features as you closed your eyes, allowing yourself to bathe in the tranquility of this moment.
You wrapped your arms around your body as you hummed softly, your eyes stinging and tired from your previous crying.
Arms from behind wrapped around you, bringing you to rest against his chest. Bakugou leaned over slightly, burying his head in the crook of your neck. “What are you thinking about, pretty girl?”
“Mmm, you as always.”
“That’s funny,” he mumbled, nipping the tender skin of your neck before placing a kiss in its place. “What were you really thinking about?”
“You!” You laughed softly, resting your head on top of his. “Am I not allowed to think about my amazing boyfriend?”
A pinch to your side made you squeak in surprise as you tried pulling away from him, but his strong arms kept you in place. “I didn’t say that dumbass,” his gruff voice whispered in your ear as he suddenly lifted you up, holding you in a bridal style carry. Your arms immediately wrapped around his neck.
“What’s with the over the top affection now?” you teased, kissing his cheek gently, lingering your lips on the warm skin.
“Damn you always have to question everything I do, don’t you?” he huffed in annoyance as he walked back inside, kicking the door of the daycare center shut. “Can’t just take my answer as it is.”
“Oh but you know I love messing with you, Suki!”
He grumbled at the pet name you’ve given him over the course of your relationship. No matter how many times he said he hated it, deep down he loved hearing it come from you and only you. If anyone found out about it, he wouldn’t be afraid to blast them to hell.
“Katsuki?”
“What?”
“What do you think about that whole ordeal?”
“Well it was fucking stupid,” he started off, placing you down on the couch beside him as he threw an arm around your shoulder, bringing you to rest your head on his shoulder. “He had no business coming back again, even after you told him you wanted nothing to do with him. He should have known better than to mess with you. Fucking bastard doesn’t know when to stop,” he growled, his hand rubbing up and down your arm.
“Well I don’t think he’ll be bothering me anytime soon,” you looked up at him, smiling. “Especially now. After all, I got a little guard dog.”
“Guard dog?! Is that what you think of me as?!”
“Maybe,” you trailed the last syllable out, grinning before going serious. “But overall… I’m glad I met you. As you know, I was in a dark place before we started dating and, I just want to truly thank you for coming into my life, Katsuki.”
His vermillion eyes trained on your expressions before kissing your forehead. “Dumbass, you don’t have to thank me. After all, that idiot needs a good punch to the face. And I might be the one to do it.”
You rolled your eyes and nestled your head into his chest, breathing in his caramel scent. Before meeting Bakugou Katsuki, you thought you could never trust or find someone that truly loved you and was not using you for their personal gain. You were a broken piece of art and he was the sculptor. Over time he mended the pieces of your shattered heart and formed it into something better than before. Bakugou Katsuki was not only your lover, he was your best friend, your shoulder to cry on.
But most importantly, he was your hero.

breakdown (one word ask)
Well, the short answer to that prompt is:
One of Poison's worst breakdowns ended with poi going on a major BL/i-patrol-hunting spree and only worsened their hatred for scarecrows and draculoids.
Jet's worst breakdown ended with him going back to the (now ruined) motel Dr. Death-Defying had found him in, going through a whole pack of cigarettes while ranting at the moon and then cried himself to sleep next to the grave he'd set up there 3-4 years prior.
Ghoul's worst breakdown scared the living shit out of the Fabulous Killjoys, left his workshop looking like a tornado had tore through it, and almost ended at the Witch's doorstep because Ghoul is really bad at taking to himself and has fuck-all pain tolerance.
Kobra's worst breakdown caused them to spiral into a really fucking bad depressive episode where they just kind of laid in bed for 2 and a half days barely even drinking water and telling everyone off when they showed even the slightest concern, until they got coaxed out by the prospect of revenge.
[Long answer under read more]
Poison's second worst breakdown was when poi almost lost pois sibling for the second time, during a clap. Once all was said and done, Kobra was fine, but guilt and anger still bubbled in pois chest and quite frankly after two days of poi sitting by Kobra's side with little to no sleep, Poison wanted nothing more than hand over pois colors to the Witch and let the shadows break pois bones in the alleyways Destroya's Eye cannot see.
Nonetheless, poi had made a promise years ago, and while Party Poison is a liar poi never breaks pois promises, so poi did the next best thing poi could think of: go party-popping (a.k.a BL/i-patrol-hunting). By all means, Poison's stance against BL/i was never a charitable one and pois actions- although good- were far from virtuous, but poi was a kid when poi started going after the black and white masked fiends, and as far as poi was concerned, one less drac or scarecrow was one less bastard that can harm the people poi cares about and that was solace enough.
Poison manages to pull this off unnoticed for maybe a week before Ghoul, in his infinite curiosity and- in Poison's words- nosiness, catches poi with one foot out the door and goes "If you don't let me tag along to wherever the fuck you're going i'm going to wake everyone up". Begrudgingly, poi accepts and soon enough the rest of pois crew finds out, so poi concludes at that point it'd be easier to make sure Kobra is safe if they're within eyesight and party-popping becomes the Fabulous Killjoys Thing™.
The worst breakdown Jet had was after an argument with Kobra. The four of them hadn't had the Girl for too long at that time, but Kobra was fiercely protective of her regardless and when she stumbled into Hyperthrust with them after hiding in the Am they just about dragged the others by the ear to the WKIL station and then back to the Diner. Jet couldn't understand why exactly they were making a big deal- Hyperthrust is one of the most kid-friendly bars in the Zones, which doesn't make it the best, but far better than The Nest of Mega Moon's- and he made sure to voice his concern and slight disappointment at their night out being cut short.
Turns out that's the wrong thing to say and Kobra fucking blows up and the Diner has to take sides and some very hurtful things are said (one of the lines that ticked Jet the most being, "[...] you want her to end up a fuckup like us?? Get your head out of the clouds, Star, and look around you- this shit is fucking pathetic!") before they split off in the end for each to go their way and cool off. Jet took the Am without much thought and didn't really know where he was going until halfway into Zone 3 where he took a hard turn towards the north-east Zone 2 border.
The Oasis Motel held none of its former glory, crumpled in a pile of rubble on the ground and in slightly worse shape than he'd last seen it, but it was still comforting. See, the thing isn't that he doesn't care about the kid or that he was that awfully bummed by not getting their night out as a crew- hell, they can do that on any other night, they're the fucking Fabulous Killjoys- but that he simply couldn't wrap his head around why Kobra made such a big deal of it when Jet had tagged along with Cherri Cola when he was not much older than the Girl and then a few years later D had allowed him and Poison to go to concerts by themselves.
It just didn't make sense, so he tried to see it from another perspective, namely, what if his parents had came back for him all those years ago and treated Jet like the four treat the Girl? The question in itself didn't clear things up as much as it made him cry because he fucking missed his parents and also everything was so unfair! He was only a child and he didn't have to have to deal with half the shit he had to and he hates BL/i wholeheartedly for it, but that had nothing to do with whatever fucking bullshit Kobra was on, so after he calms down somewhat he does a take two.
This time he looks at it through the perspective of them filling the role of Cherri Cola and then it clicks why Kobra was so damn snappy. They didn't want the Girl to see them the way the Killjoys see Cherri Cola because while they have their good memories with the agent there's also some shit that they've done that really fucked the four up. If anything, Hyperthrust was the perfect scene for a disaster because as careful as they are they can't fucking child-proof their every move and many of the traits they share with Cherri are just part of Zone life which clash with raising a kid that's not a little bit fucked up in the same way that their caretakers are.
And it's frustrating because Jet didn't chose to fill the role of a parent, but the realisation that they've taken on the task of caring for the Girl snakes a hint of guilt into his heart, but he also knows damn well he's only fucking 18 and not ready to be selfless, not to mention a parental figure. His thoughts are a mess, he's crying again, curled up on the floor, and somewhere inbetween it all he falls asleep tired out by his own emotions and the realisation that they are, in fact, fuckups like Kobra had said.
Unlike the headache between his temples, a resolve doesn't magically show itself when Jet wakes up in the morning and he settles on a compromise instead, on his way back home- he'll take care of the Girl, helping her through whatever she needs his help with, and he'll be her friend, however he will not play house with Kobra just because he cares about them. Excuses are never exchanged, not out loud at least, and awkwardness lingers in the air afterwards, but things turn back to normal- or at least by their standards of normal.
Ghoul's breakdowns are fucking terrifying because he literally breaks things during them and with his predisposition of getting injured paired with a stubborn fear of letting others see how destructive he can be, he's nearly accidentally died several times. The worst breakdown he's had was after a failed explosion that Poison happened to stand a little too close to and it ended up in a lot of screaming, a lot of guilt, even more screaming when they got back at the Diner and he just couldn't fucking take it anymore. He snapped at the others to shut the fuck up and then locked himself in the workshop.
Not long after there's a crash followed by banging noises and general knocking stuff over coming from Ghoul's workshop, which makes the killjoys understandably worried. The door is locked, as one would expect, but Ghoul doesn't seem to hear or care that they're trying to get in, so they wait outside until the noise stops and try again to no avail. They go through asking, demanding, shouting and pleading for what must've been like half an hour before the door finally unlocks with a click and the workshop looks nothing short of a crime scene.
The shelves were all toppled over and the one above the desk had completely been ripped off the wall, with its contents all over the floor. There was a dent in the desk itself and the flag that hung between it and the shelf was torn with what looked to be a screwdriver, the only thing still somewhat intact being the office chair pushed across the room, and like the king is sat at the head of the table there laid Ghoul on the floor doing his best impression of a corpse.
Kobra, understandably, freaks out because that's their fucking friend laying on the floor-and upon closer inspection clearly bleeding-, Jet is trying to get the car ready so they can book it because Kobra is trained to be a soldier not a fucking field medic and Poison is just standing there frozen looking out onto the scene and poi swears poi feels the Witch's talons closing in around pois throat, making it hard to breathe. Poi snaps out of it eventually and they all end up driving to Hyperthrust since that's the closest place to the Diner they know for a fact offers emergency medical assistance.
Besides a comment about how usually the people who come outback looking for help do it because they need to be knocked out not because they already are, a Hyperthrust employee lets them in the old roller rink backroom and they patch Ghoul up. After that it's a ride back home and Poison gets designated watch duty on basis of poi doesn't ever even enter the workshop (which is like 98% correct) while Kobra and Jet take clean-up. Having Poison fuss over Ghoul is a strange experience for both sides, but the ordeal gets sorted out soon enough and everything is forgotten.
The worst breakdown Kobra's ever had was when the Girl was captured. Not only had they died and shouldn't have been alive, but they had failed to protect her and for that they might've as well been dead. Nothing felt real and everything was blurring together into a weird gray mush of existence and somewhere in the middle of it all they arrive back at the Diner and all they can bring themselves to bed in hopes it's all a nightmare.
It isn't, but they don't see any reason to get out of bed, so they just. Turn on the other side, try to fall asleep again, find out they can't, stare at the wall, ignore their sibling, yell at their sibling when poi tries to make sure if they're okay. Lather rinse repeat. Sometimes they manage to fall asleep, though only for a couple of hours at a time, the image of the Girl calling for their help although they were going cold by the time that would've happened plaguing their mind. Other times someone else would try to talk to them and they'd tell them all the same thing: piss off and eat shit. The others bring them water every so often and they try really hard to ignore it, but eventually their thirst overpowers their stubbornness and they down the whole thing in one go.
The only thing they get up to do for 2 and a half days is go to the bathroom and they feel more dead than 2 and a half days ago because of it, so they figure they must've been doing something right at least. Ghoul is the one to announce their plan to infiltrate Battery City and Kobra gets up so fast they almost black out, their vision going black for a solid 3 seconds and needing to use the wall to steady themselves. It's their chance to make sure the Girl is safe and even if it all goes horribly wrong, Kobra plans on nothing short than getting their revenge on as many mindless BL/i drones as they can set their eyes on

Please please would you do a one shot that take place in season 3 episode 20. And the reader is jealous and hurt of hotch being close to Kaye Joyner and getting mad when he takes his side over Morgan's. They could already be in a relationship or not. if you would like. :) thank you
hey, anon! thanks for requesting! i wasn’t sure if you wanted it to be fem!reader, male!reader or gn!reader so i went ahead and chose gn!reader. i kind of got carried away and it became longer than i was intending, but i hope this is to your liking. enjoy! :)
pairing: aaron hotchner x gn!reader
You were at your desk doing some paperwork while trying to ignore Morgan when JJ had came and said there was a case. Getting up, you and the rest of the team made your way to the conference room where the team was usually debriefed of the case. However, as soon as everyone walked in, Hotch had said, “Don’t get comfortable. There’ll be time to debrief on the plane” without even turning around to look at anyone. Clearing your throat a little bit, you look to your boyfriend. “Where are we headed, exactly?” You asked, Hotch still having yet to turn around from the screen where a clip of the murder was playing. “New York,” he had simply answered.
Rossi then spoke up. “5 shootings in 2 weeks. It’s about time we got the call.” You see he finally turns around and looks at Rossi for a moment before looking to Emily when she asks a question. “What do we know?” “All the killings are mid-day. Single gunshot to the head with a .22,” Hotch had answered. “Any witnesses?” JJ pipes up and asks, her hands on her hips. Shaking his head a little bit, Hotch tells her no before looking to Reid when he starts to speak up. “.22-caliber pistol’s only 152 decibels. New York streets and subways are routinely well over 100. It could be people aren’t even registering the gunshot until the unsub’s already leaving the scene.”
You look to your right and listen to Morgan when he says, “They sound like mob hits.” Then, you look to your boyfriend when he responds. “Except none of them have ties to organized crime.” “Do they have any connection to each other?” Emily asked. “None they’ve found,” Aaron told her. “How about communication with the police? Has the unsub tried to make contact?” Morgan asked next. Aaron turns to look at the screen as he answers. “Surveillance cameras have captured video of 3 of the murders. This is the latest,” he says as he clicks a button on the remote and a video comes up on the screen. “That’s the best image they have?” JJ asks Hotch. “They’re all the same. He wears a hood and keeps his head down,” Aaron answers. Emily begins to speak. “This guy’s bold. Crowded areas, broad daylight.” Rossi furrows his brows a bit as he asks, “So they’re completely random?” “It seems that way,” Hotch says. You sigh softly and cross your arms over your chest. This whole thing just gives you a bad feeling.
“Son of Sam all over again,” Reid said. “Wheels up in 30,” you hear your boyfriend say as he then exits the room, probably to go back to his office and grab his go bag. You and the rest of the team all start to pile out of the room as well. Everyone returned to their desks to retrieve their go bags. Derek got hit and said he was going to get Garcia, to which everyone simply shrugged. After you got your go bag, it was time to board the jet. Once on the jet, you chose to sit next to Emily. Besides Aaron, she was the person you were closest with on the team. Though, to everyone else, Emily was the only person you were closest with. None of the others knew about you and Hotch. Well...except maybe for Rossi if the way he looks at you and Aaron sometimes is anything to go by.
You look to the entrance of the plane when you hear Garcia’s voice. “How come I only get to travel with you guys like once every 2 years?” Derek was the next one to talk. “Trust me, Mama. It can get old.” Garcia moved to sit one sit in front of JJ as she turned and set her bag in the chair behind her as she answered. “Oh, right. Like the way that spa treatments in 5-star hotels can get old,” she had said. Emily piped up while looking at Morgan. “Remember the time we got on board and they hadn’t chilled the cristal?” Morgan looked at Prentiss and answered. “Ooh. I almost quit the B.A.U. that day.” This encounter made you laugh some. It was nice when you guys got to joke around for a moment before remembering where you were. You notice Hotch looking at you from the corner of your eye, though you weren’t going to give in and return his stare. Rossi was sitting right in front of Aaron after all.
Garcia stood and looked at Derek. “You know what? You guys can joke all you want ‘cause I am never leaving this plane.” This made you smile to hear how Garcia just loved the plane. You smiled at Emily when she nudged your shoulder with her own once she sat down. Turning back to look at Hotch, Rossi, and Reid, you turn serious once again. “The victims?” You hear Rossi ask as he sets the photos down on the table. “Each killed in a completely different neighborhood. Hell’s Kitchen, Murray Hill, Lower East Side, Chinatown, East Harlem,” Aaron told Rossi, though looking at all of the team. “It doesn’t make any sense,” Reid says with a shake of his head. “There’s no common victimology, no sexual component, no robbery, no geographical connection. Do the police have any leads?”
“He’s killing roughly every 2 days. The press is having a field day, and it sounds like the mood on the street’s getting pretty edgy,” Aaron spoke as he leaned forward a little bit. “It’s a joint FBI-NYPD taskforce?” Rossi asks. Aaron simply nods his head before answering. “Kate Joyner heads up the New York field office. She’s running point on the case and called me directly,” he says before looking past Rossi and to JJ. “JJ, would you tell them we’re ready to go?” “Right,” JJ says as she pulls her phone out of her pocket. “Kate’s starting to butt heads with the lead detectives and wanted a fresh set of eyes.”
“Joyner, I know her. She’s a Brit, right?” Morgan asked Hotch. “Well, dual citizenship. Her father’s British, her mother’s American. She was a big deal at Scotland Yard before coming to the Bureau.” “I heard she can be a little bit of a pain in the ass,” Morgan says next. Aaron shakes his head a little bit while looking at Derek. “I didn’t think so.” Emily looked at Hotch. “You know her?” She had asked. At this point, you were a little confused and a little upset, but you couldn’t convey that since you were supposed to be doing a job and the team didn’t know about the two of you, either.
“We liaised when she was still at Scotland Yard,” Hotch told Prentiss. Rossi then asked, “And she’s good?” Hotch looked to Rossi. “I think we’re lucky to have her.” This didn’t sit right with you, but you chose to try and ignore it for now. It was in the past, if anything had happened with him and this Kate Joyner you guys would be seeing. You looked out the window and felt Emily nudge you again. “You okay, (Y/N)?” You nodded your head and gave her a smile. Yeah, yeah I’m okay.”
A little while later, you guys were now piled into the elevator, going to the floor you needed to go to. Once it dinged and opened, everyone got out, Hotch taking the lead. You were standing with Garcia and JJ, and clenched your jaw when you heard what JJ asked the two of you. “Is it just me or does she look exactly like Haley?” You didn’t want to see it, but there was no denying that Kate Joyner looked like Haley, and that didn’t make you feel any better about hiding your relationship from the team. You watched the two interact. “Kate.” “Aaron. How have you been?” Oh, so on a first name basis? That was not what you had wanted to hear.
You didn’t want to be jealous. You wanted to give Aaron the benefit of the doubt and come clean to you later if he so chose to do so, but you couldn’t fight the feeling itching under your skin. “Well, thank you. This is my team. Kate Joyner, this is David Rossi, Emily Prentiss, Jennifer Jareau, Penelope Garcia, Derek Morgan, Spencer Reid, and (Y/N) (Y/L/N),” Aaron tells her, pointing everyone out as he said their name. Kate nods. “Thanks for being here. Anything that you need, just tell me. Please don’t stand on protocol,” at this point her voice was just starting to grate your nerves, especially when she was talking to your boyfriend.
“What can you tell us about the city’s surveillance system?” Garcia had asked. “Um, it’s run by the NYPD. It’s still in the infant stages. It’s been rather controversial. American privacy laws. Um, but they’ve had some success,” Kate had told her. “And I’ll have complete access?” Garcia asked. “They’re already expecting you. Shelley?” During that entire time, you noticed how Aaron hadn’t taken his eyes off Kate. You tried to ignore it, but the thought stayed. Garcia pushed past to go. “I’d like to get a map of the borough. I want to do a comprehensive geographical profile of the area in order to ascertain the unsub’s mental ma before it’s clouded by our own linkage blindness,” you hear Reid say as two detectives walk up and stand next to him. The shorter one remarked, “I see you brought your own computer.” You didn’t like him already. “Detectives Brustin and Cooper. I’ll let you do the introductions,” Kate spoke.
“You caught the first shooting?” Rossi had asked. “They’ve all been in different precincts. It wasn’t until the third murder that anyone even made the connection,” Detective Cooper had told him. “I guess this is where we play nice and ask you what you need,” Detective Brustin told the team. You really didn’t like this guy and his attitude. Kate let out a little bit of a laugh while she spoke. “I’ll let you all figure out what that is. I just ask that you run everything back through me. It’s been my experience that having one butt on the line is enough,” she says, looking at Detective Brustin who looked away and said, “Yes, Ma’am.” The next thing you saw really made you mad, and at this point there was probably steam coming from your ears.
You watched as Kate stepped closer to your boyfriend and ask to “have a word with him in private.” “Sure,” was your boyfriend’s response. You crossed your arms over your chest and furrowed your brows. Emily and JJ shared a look with each other. You notice Rossi was looking at you from the corner of your eye. Sometimes, Rossi just knew too much. You watched as Aaron and Kate walked into her office. You didn’t like how close they were standing to each other. It just made your blood boil. “Woah, sweetness. What’s got you all red?” You hear Morgan ask you, to which you sighed and bit your lip, trying to decide if you should just come clean.
“I...I probably shouldn’t say it here where all these officers could hear, but um...Aaron and I are...seeing each other. And have for some time now,” you told them quietly, making sure no one else was in ear shot. “So that would explain everything, then,” you hear Emily say as she then walked over to you and placed a comforting hand on your arm. “You trust Hotch, right?” She quietly asked you. At this, you gave her a confused look but nodded your head. “Yeah, of course. I trust him with my life.” “Then, okay. There should be nothing to worry about, (Y/N),” she told you. You sighed and nodded your head. “You’re right, Em. I’m sorry,” you apologized while shaking your head.
A little while later, you were at the next crime scene with Kate, Derek, Detective Cooper, Detective Brustin, and Aaron. During that time, there seemed to be some tension between Kate and Morgan, and you didn’t like how she talked to him. You watch and listen as Morgan looks to Aaron. “You mind telling me why I’m catching attitude from her?” Aaron hesitates for a moment before he answers. “FBI brass has made it clear to her that if she doesn’t bring this case home, she’s gonna be reassigned, and you are at the top of the list to replace her,” your boyfriend explains to Derek.
Derek looks at him. “You’re kidding me.” “Why should you be surprised? You’re good at your job. People notice that,” Aaron told him. Derek turns away for a moment before turning back to Hotch. “What happened to the bureau patting itself on the back for stealing her away from Scotland Yard?” Aaron shrugs a little while shaking his head. “I don’t know. Politics here are different. And you can see she doesn’t pull punches,” Aaron said as he then walked away from the two of you. You and Morgan share a look before sighing and walking away as well. You really didn’t like how your boyfriend was sticking up for Kate the way he was.
After you guys find out there’s more than one unsub, you look at Kate when she asked if there was enough for a working profile. “Broad strokes,” was Rossi’s reply. “Dave, you and Reid talk to the agents here. Morgan, Prentiss and (Y/L/N), brief the police when each shift comes on duty tomorrow,” at Aaron’s demand, you nod your head. Morgan looks at Hotch. “I think we should get out on the streets,” was Derek’s reply. That was when Kate decided to speak to him. “I brought you here to create a profile,” she told him. “Which we can give in the morning, and then they can share it with the afternoon shift,” Derek told her. You really didn’t like how Kate Joyner was talking to Derek.
“We’ve allocated every extra man we have. This is New York City. It’s not like a few more people is going to blanket the city,” came Kate’s reply. “I understand it’s a long shot, but these guys, they hit at mid-day. We could target Ingress and Egress to particular neighborhoods. Position us near express stops- 14th, 42nd, 59th-” Morgan was saying, but got interrupted by Aaron. “Morgan, it’s not your call,” your boyfriend told Derek with a shake of his head. You rolled your eyes and walked off, not liking how he just took Kate’s side and not Derek’s.
After being done at the office, you guys went to the hotel. You laughed some at a joke Emily made as you guys walked in, Aaron holding the door for everyone. You guys made your way to the lobby before stopping when Reid motioned for JJ to look behind her. You, Aaron, Emily, and JJ turn around and spot Will. This made you smile. You were always rooting for them. Walking over, you guys look between Will and JJ. Will looks at Aaron and returns his handshake. “Detective,” Aaron had said to him.
“I’m sorry for showing up like this. I know you’re working. But, um...I can’t stand you being on this case and me not being here, not with what’s going on,” Will told JJ. This made you a little confused. ‘With what’s going on?’ You asked yourself. Aaron tilted his head a little as he looked at Will. “Is there a problem?” He asked. JJ slightly scoffs before turning around to look at the rest of you. “I’m pregnant,” she says. This brought a smile to your face as you pulled her in for a hug, missing the look in Aaron’s eyes as he watches. “We’re so happy for you guys,” you told her, to which she had hugged back and thanked you.
Then you pulled away, still smiling after hearing the news. “I’ve asked JJ to marry me,” you hear Will say. “Will,” JJ had turned around and scolded. “We’re still working out some kinks,” he told the group. Aaron nodded. “We’ll, uh, give you both some privacy.” And with that, your boyfriend had started to walk away until JJ stopped him. “Hotch.” He turned around and looked at her. “JJ, you could have told me,” he said to her, a small smile on his face. “I know,” was JJ’s response.
You, Aaron, Spencer, and Emily leave the two of them alone and retire to your rooms. You were debating on stopping at Aaron’s, but decided against it. Instead, you went towards Emily’s room, softly rapping your knuckles against the door. A few seconds later, Prentiss opens the door and ushers you into the room. “Hey, (Y/N). Not talking to Hotch now?” She teased. You smiled some and shrugged. “Eh. I was going to...but I’m not sure what to say without getting upset over the whole Kate thing. I don’t want to dump that on him right now. Not while we’re working a case.”
“That’s understandable. But you do know you have to talk about it with him eventually, right?” Emily pressed, looking at you. You sighed and nodded your head. “Yeah...I know.” A little while later, after having a few too many drinks with Emily, your addled brain supplied you with going to Aaron’s room. You hesitated at the door for a moment before knocking. Better now than never, you figured. Almost immediately, the door had opened, as if he were impatiently awaiting your presence.
“(Y/N)...are you alright?” Your boyfriend asked you, concern and worry etched into his features as he gently pulled you in, shutting the door behind the both of you. “Yeah. I just spent a little time with Emily, not to worry over,” you assured him, sitting down on the edge of the bed. “Nothing to worry over? You’re drunk,” Aaron had told her. “Yeah, well...it’s what I needed after today,” you told him. With this information, he studies you for a moment. “What are you talking about?” He asked, confused about what happened to cause you to drink this much.
“You and Kate. I don’t like it. Plus...the team ended up finding out about us,” you said, yawning some as you kicked off your shoes and laid down on the bed. “That’s what this is about? Kate? You’re not jealous are you?” Aaron asked. At your silence, he scoffed, shaking his head. “Unbelievable. You have no reason to be jealous. Nothing’s ever happened between Kate and I and nothing ever will,” he told you. For now, in your current state, it out you at ease.
The next day, you guys were listening to Garcia as she explained that the unsub was getting away. You were beyond frustrated, and so was Morgan. “We could’ve had that guy,” Derek said. Kate spoke next. “Even if we were on that platform, odds are he would have moved on to someone isolated.” At this point, Morgan started raising his voice a little. “Maybe, but it was worth taking a shot.” Kate and Derek looked at each other. “We had every available man on the street,” Kate told him.
Morgan got a little closer to the desk. “And I suggested to you that you use this team,” he had told her. Aaron looked at Derek. “Second-guessing doesn’t do us any good right now,” Aaron told him. “Hotch, how am I supposed to look these cops in the eye and tell them that we’re actually here to help them?” Morgan asked him. “We’re here to present a profile. That’s what we need to do.” Aaron was all too calm about this, you thought.
“I said to put us at express stops, 14th, 42nd, 59th, and that’s exactly where they hit,” Morgan pushed. “It’s not your place to have this discussion,” Aaron told him. At this, you pursed your lips and watched them. “My place?” Derek asked. “You need to back off,” came your boyfriend’s reply. “We got 7 bodies, man.”
“Which is exactly why we need to stay focused,” Aaron told him sternly. “Focused.” Derek got closer to Hotch. “From where I’m standing, all your focus is on her,” you heard him say, which didn’t surprise you that he would bring this up. “Talk a walk. Now,” Aaron told him. You and Rossi looked at each other. You really didn’t like the tension in the air and quickly walked away, ignoring your boyfriend calling your name. You couldn’t deal with him right now.
You only made it to the door when Aaron had caught your arm, stopping you from going any further. “Let go, Aaron,” you said through gritted teeth, trying your best to not show any other emotion. Really, all you wanted to do was go home and scream and cry into a pillow or something. “(Y/N). Talk to me. You never storm off like that.” “Yeah? Well, my boyfriend also never adamantly takes someone’s side like that,” you spat, shrugging his hand off and leaving the office, getting into one of the SUVs and driving back to the hotel.
Sometime later, Aaron found himself knocking on the door of your hotel room. “(Y/N). Please open the door. Let’s talk about this. Please...” you hear your boyfriend ask. You sigh and let him in, going back and sitting on the bed while having your arms crossed over your chest. “I know you’re upset with me right now. I know that this might take some time before it passes. I just want you to know that I do love you. And that I truly am sorry for you feeling this way. But please understand we’re not here to over step. Simply to give a profile. This is the NYPD’s investigation. And Kate happens to be the lead. Trust me when I say, nothing is going on between Kate and I. I only want you. Okay?” Aaron spoke softly, his hands encasing yours in his own, his eyes peering into yours the way he always does.
After thinking about it for a moment, you sigh and close your eyes, the tears finally escaping your eyes as you hug Aaron tightly, burying your face in his neck. Aaron closed his eyes and engulfed you in a hug, pressing a kiss to your temple. “It’s all going to be okay, baby. I’m here,” he whispered into your ear. You eventually nodded and calmed down some, pulling away from him as you wiped your eyes. “I-I’m sorry...” you told him. Aaron gently cupped your face in his big hands, his thumbs stroking your cheekbones. “You have nothing to be sorry about. Truly,” he said, pressing a kiss to your forehead before you took it a step further and pressed your lips to his, just wanting to be surrounded with nothing but him again.
okay so this was way, way longer than i was intending for it to be but i wanted to get some of the dialogue plots from the episode between morgan, kate, and hotch to give that drama that was there between them. but i do hope that you enjoyed and that it was something similar at least to what you were picturing! and thanks again for requesting! :)

You know the working daddy captain fanart that you've reblogged recently.. I can't get Kuroo and his son out of my head so may I request a domestic married life au oneshot revolving around that particular fanart - him, his wife and their first kid, a toddler son? Fluffy and romantic, no angst please. If you're up to date with the manga maybe it could be based on post timeskip Kuroo? Thanks a lot!
DILF Day Care With Daddy Kuroo Tetsurō 🤱👼🍼 📆📈
(Fluffville)
‼️ TIMESKIP SPOILERS BELOW ‼️
———————————
“Yeah. Yeah. So that’s what I told Jim in marketing already. To send Bokuto to Tampa to surprise a Japanese little league team there and to send a camera crew with him. Kenma is already putting our ads on his YouTube channel—he told you what?! That he’s not doing it? Well did he say why?! That bratty cat, must have caught him on a bad day. Okay. No, I need this handled TODAY, Greg! Hold on, he will. He’s currently in Italy at some big video game tournament but I’ll stop by his office right now to work it out with his assistant. Just give me thirty minu—“
“Oh no you don’t, Kuroo Tetsuro!”
The wife of the sexiest businessman in the Japanese Volleyball Association Corporation set a cup of French vanilla coffee in front of her talkative husband before stomping her foot. Kuroo quickly covered the speaker part of the phone and gave you a pleading face.
“No!” You repeated. “I am going to Lev and Alisa’s Vogue Magazine cover day-party at their mansion. The babysitter is on vacation. Which means you and only you have to take River to his appointment cross-city.”
Giggling because he understood his own name, almost 2-year-old baby River Tetsurō blew bubbles with his own spit and clapped his tiny hands. Kuroo looked down at the miniature baby he held in his lap as he was on the phone. River looked up at his Daddy and Kuroo’s stomach tightened in return. He quickly said bye to his group call with the interns.
After marrying you 2 years ago, Tetsurō never thought he would love someone as much as he loved you....but he was happily mistaken 9 months after the honeymoon when little River Kuroo popped out.
***
“This is my son?” Kuroo, decked out in a light blue hospital dress—took his baby from the doctors hands. He was the first to hold him. He stared down at his son, already seeing the start of little jet black hairs pressed to his baby’s head.
“Yes.” The nurse grinned, moving Kuroo’s hand so that it was supporting the newborns neck.
Fresh tears sprung out of the ex-middle blocker’s eyes as he shuffled his son to one arm as he moved hastily to hold your hand and show you. He squeezed your hand and the tears kept pouring, showcasing the life you two just created to the wife he loved so much.
“Oh Kuroo....” you whispered drowsily as your eyes filled with tears also. You looked up at your husband in amazement. “He looks just like you.” You whisper to him and then sit up so that you can hold your beloved son yourself.
“Yeah, he does.” Kuroo handed him over to your weak arms, still keeping his hands under yours to support you and the baby. He kissed you on the side of your forehead and wiped your tears. “I love him so much already, Y/N. I love you so much.”
You smiled through your happy tears and leaned your head in to reciprocate Kuroo’s embrace, then leaned down to kiss your baby boy. After a few minutes of admiring him, you handed him back to Kuroo and told him to show the baby to your families and Kenma who were all still waiting in the waiting room. You knew Kenma seemed disinterested to others because he was on his video game, but all who knew him well knew that Kozume was only distracting himself because he was itching to meet his new Godson.
“Okay.” Kuroo whispered into your hair before taking River and planting a kiss on your lips.
***
Returning from his flashback, Kuroo realized that you were in the middle of lecturing him about the balance between work and parenting. He was a phenomenal father and he was there 95% of the time, but he was still a businessman and that meant sometimes he had to work more than he would like to.
Your son started to cry because he didn’t like seeing his mum worked up, so like second nature, Kuroo gave his two index fingers to River to grasp in his tiny hands. That, combined with his dad bouncing him on his the leg (which is exactly what Kuroo was doing) stopped River’s crying in its tracks. River loved holding onto his father’s fingers for some reason, it soothed him. Baby River blew more spit bubbles and giggled.
Kuroo watched you lecturing him, biting his lip because damn was his wife sexy when she was mad. You were all dressed up for this day party in a long black sundress that hugged your curves and as his eyes roamed your figure Kuroo decided that the amazing morning sex you two had earlier suddenly wasn’t enough.
“—Kuroo!! Are you even listening?!”
He returned his eyes back up to yours.
“Uh yes. Listening and undressing you with my eyes. Yep.”
You narrowed your eyes at your man then reached over the expensive island to use River’s bib to clean your son’s snot and spit off his babyface.
You leaned in for a kiss from River and the angel cutely bumped his face against yours, getting saliva all over you. You used his bib to wipe your face too.
“River, honey? Mommy is going to go and have some fun at a party that mommy put on the obvious calendar weeks ago.....the party that she has been excited about going to FOR MONTHS! So, baby boy, your annoying twin will take you to see Dr. Wimble this time because he shouldn’t be working on his days off anyway not to mention he promised, okay my Riv-honey?”
Kuroo deadpanned. “I hate when you speak to our son but you’re really talking to me.”
“Don’t care. I left both your boys’ breakfast is on the stove. And Don’t forget River’s diaper bag!” You stole a sip of your husband’s French vanilla before snatching the car keys and your purse off the island.
Kuroo tried to think about what he was going to do as he continued to bounce his son on his leg, his analytical brain running through dozens of scenarios in a matter of seconds. No matter how he spun it—though, the sexy businessman knew he wouldn’t be without his son today. Looking down at his spiky haired mini-me that looked back up at him with bright, happy eyes, Kuroo realized that—no matter how he spun it—nor would he desire to be without his son today.
“Wait, Y/N! What time is the appointm—“
“—Calendar! Use it!” You yelled dryly before you shut the door and headed to the car Kuroo bought you for Valentine’s Day.
Back inside, Kuroo dragged his son’s high chair next to him at the island and served him the kiddie breakfast you made. Your husband sat beside him, giving River his finger while he drank his coffee and ate his food with one hand. When both boys were done he picked up River and walked over to the calendar.
You were right: it was there. In plain capital permanent marker on today’s date:
It read:
RIVER’S APPOINTMENT - 3:30PM
HAIBA’S VOGUE PARTY - 1PM
DO NOT MAKE PLANS KUROO!
River giggled as if he was making fun of his father and Kuroo looked down at the love of his life. “River, should daddy piss mommy off and erase it so that daddy looks like he was right?
River stopped giggling and pouted up at his daddy, his tiny lip quivering like he would cry if he did anything to upset mommy.
“Okay okay!” Said Kuroo hurriedly, giving his son his finger again so he’d stop crying. River smiled. “We have 2 and a half hours until your appointment Rivs, which is on the other side of town, and in between is Uncle Kenma’s office. So we will stop there on the way and then the park. Let’s go, son.”
The raven haired baby cheered. “YWAY DA!”
In 30 minutes flat, Kuroo was decked out in an elegant Armani navy blue business suit. He had every colour and material. He collected River’s diaper bag, packed snacks and his baby chest carrier.
Locking up, Kuroo buckled his son in the back of his 2020 Jag, checking thrice if he was safe in his car seat. Then, he clicked the button to play River’s favourite kid show on the car tv and handed him the stuffed cat Hinata got River for Christmas. It was his all time favourite toy.
Once Kuroo parked in front of Kenma’s high-rise office, he strapped on his baby carrier over his Armani suit and placed River in it. The tall and sexy businessman garnerned SO MANY stares as he looked PRIMO SEXY DILF as he locked his car and strutted inside Kenma’s office building with his son, pressing the elevator button. As he waited, he called his best friend who was in Italy. Kuroo held his phone in between his shoulder and cheek before he snapped at his friend.
“Kenma. Do you need me to hop on a plane with River and crash your video game tournament right now?! Because I will.”
There was murmuring on the other line.
Kuroo gasped.
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN RIVER CAN COME BUT I CANT?!”
River squealed loudly because he heard his name.
“Listen Kozume....... I have the keys to your loft, did you forget? You’ll come home to a mountain of River’s diapers in your game room if you back out now. You can’t just say no because my administrators are calling too much!!”
Baby River smiled cheekily and clapped his adorable hands as he rode the elevator with his daddy all the way up to his godfathers top floor.
That boy had a mother, father, godfather and a long list of pro volleyball player uncle’s who doted on him....
He couldn’t be happier.

Request: Spencer has made an enemy with an unsub. The team believes it’s over after they catch him, but they don’t realize one big detail; unsub isn’t working alone and that partner has gone after Spencer’s girl. Will Spencer make it in time to save her?
// Anon request: can u do one where reid saves the reader from getting kidnapped or shot pls🥺🥺 //
// Anon request: ok this might be confusing but can u do one where the team goes on a case, but like the unsub actually had a partner back at reid and the readers apartment and kidnaps her and he gets super like protective and cute and like awe reid is so baby🥺🥺 //
A/N: sucker for angst. So I combined these two requests because they’re so similar. I steered away from the request a little and may have gotten carried away while writing it, but I’m kind of proud of this one. Thank you both for your request! I hope you enjoy :) xx

WHO GAVE HIM THE RIGHT TO LOOK THIS DAMN SEXY UGH
Finally, the BAU team tracked down the unsub. Currently he is in custody, chained to the interrogation desk. This was the man who’d taunted the BAU team for months. He’d sent them on numerous goose chases and they finally caught up to him when he made a mistake, which then led to his capture. This man got under Spencer’s skin the last time they faced him and since then Spencer did everything in his power to find him and take him down.
The first time they had caught up to the man at his home, they were all shocked to the core, Spencer specifically. Inside the home, the team found a room dedicated to photos of him and his wife, in their home, his wife at the grocery store, the two of them on dates. The man had been following them, taking photos of them, invading their privacy. Spencer was sick at the thought and since then, he couldn’t sleep until he knew his wife was safe. Until he knew the man was put behind bars.
The man had killed numerous women, up and down the coast. They caught up to him outside of Georgetown and when they arrived at his home, he’d already slipped away into the darkness. The man had laid low for a few weeks, then the murders began again, this time, the women favoring Spencer’s wife. Spencer and the team knew exactly who was behind these murders. He was back, this time in a small town on the coast of South Carolina. After the 3rd woman, the man made a mistake and slipped up, allowing the team to finally put an end to this.
However, the BAU team made a mistake, a very big one. They’d missed key information, that could potentially put the woman Spencer loved in danger.
Spencer stood across from the man that had tormented him and his wife for months, anger boiling inside him. It took everything he had not to reach across the table and strangle the man.
“This is the end for you. You’re facing charges for over 20 women up and down the east coast.” He slammed his hands against the metal table, “You’re facing the death penalty. You will get what you deserve!”
The unsub smirked, “Oh but Dr. Reid, this isn’t the end. You really didn’t think I would leave without making sure your suffering will continue? He sits a little straighter in his seat, leaning forward, “Tell me Dr. Reid, have you spoke to your wife today? Told her you loved her?”
Spencer straightens, fear washing over him. He hadn’t spoke to you today. He was caught up in the case to bother to call you. The unsub began to laugh wickedly, seeing Spencer’s fear. Spencer then stormed out of the interrogation room, the rest of the team waiting by the door. Hotch already on the phone, “We need officer’s at (you and Spencer’s address) right now!”
The team was in South Carolina, you were back at your home in Quantico. He checked the time. It was Thursday, 5:43 pm. You would have been on your way home from work by now. You would have stopped by the grocery store on 4th to get groceries to cook dinner. Thursday’s were chicken night. He knew you probably would have splurged and bought a bottle of wine for yourself along with cookies. Cookies were your weakness.
Spencer’s hands began to shake, “How could we have missed this?” He roughly runs his hands through his hair. How could he have missed that this unsub had a partner? How could he be so stupid?
“Reid, calm down. Hotch has officer’s on their way to your home now.” Morgan tried to calm his friend, but all Spencer seen was red.
“I’m going to kill him.” He mumbles. Before anyone can act, Spencer has barged into the interrogation room and has thrown the unsub into the wall, his hands wrapped tightly around his throat.
“Reid! Stop!” Hotch and Morgan are grabbing at Spencer, trying to pull him off the man.
“You sick bastard!” Spencer’s hands tighten and he can feel the life draining from the unsub.
“Reid if you kill him, we have no way of finding her!” Hotch yells, ripping Spencer off the man. Morgan’s arms wrap around Spencer’s body, holding him back, “Kid, you got to calm down!”
“Get him out of here!” Hotch yells at Morgan, who begins dragging Spencer out of the room, the door clicking shut behind them.
“Morgan, he’s got her… he’s got y/n..” Spencer’s body goes limp in Morgan’s grip and begins wracking with sobs.
~
You push open the door with your foot, your hand full of groceries. You only needed a few things for dinner, but you hoped Spencer would be home this weekend so you two could spend the weekend at home, binge watching tv and eating your weight in junk food. You grunt, setting the grocery bags on the counter. Slipping your shoes off by your bedroom door, you enter the kitchen and begin putting away groceries, continuing to play your playlist you were jamming in the car to.
Your body tenses as you feel the cold barrel of a gun pressed against your back, “don’t move.”
Your breathing becomes rapid and you slowly raise your arms, “Please.. please don’t do this.” You whisper.
The man puts a cloth over your mouth and you thrash, trying to keep it away. “No!” You throw your head back into the man’s nose and groan. That hurt more than you thought it would. The man staggers back against the counter, holding his nose, “You bitch!”
Your head throbs and spins as you slip passed him and head for the door. Just as your hands grasp the door, the man grabs you, throwing you into the wall, the mirror falling to the floor and shattering. Your body falling into the broken glass.
You whimper as he grabs you by your hair, your hands going to his, “Let me go!” He drags you along the floor into the living room, tossing you into the coffee table. Pain shoots across your body, but you ignore it grabbing a vase from the side table, hitting him in the side of the face. He falls to the ground and you stagger to your feet heading for the door once more, but you never make it.
A gun shot rings through the home you and Spencer shared. The last thing you see is the smiling photo of you and Spencer on the wall. It was your wedding photo, taken moments after you two promised to love and protect each other.
~
Spencer and the team were on the jet within the hour, heading back to Quantico. Back to you. When the police arrived at you and his home, they found the door opened, broken glass and a trail of blood out the door, but you were no where in sight.
He stares aimlessly at the wall in front of him, the gears in his head running a mile a minute. He racked his brain wondering how it come to this. He had caught the unsub that had terrorized you two. He promised you after he was caught, this would all be over. You two could live normal lives. Now, the unsub was locked in cell somewhere, but you were gone, disappeared. The only thing left was a blood trail out the door.
“Kid.. we’re going to find her.” Morgan says quietly, his hand going to Spencer’s shoulder.
“We won’t stop until we do. She’s family, Reid.” Emily says, taking a seat next to him.
He figured he was in shock. He couldn’t speak. He couldn’t function. When they arrived at your shared home, he could see you put up a fight. Those self defense classes must have helped. He glances at the kitchen counter, the groceries still there, untouched. Sure enough, there sat a bottle of wine and a box of cookies. He’s broken from his trance as Hotch’s cellphone rings.
He’s nodding, listening intently to what someone’s saying. He looks up at the team standing in the living room, “That was the sheriff from next town over. Said he just received a call about a woman stumbling up onto a porch, bloodied and beaten. Thinks it could be y/n.”
~
Spencer’s heart was beating out of his chest as Morgan drove to the hospital. The sheriff informed Hotch, they took her to the hospital immediately. She suffered extensive injuries, but kept telling people she escaped, that a man had kidnapped her and kept muttering that she needed to speak with Spencer Reid.
He practically ran into the hospital to the room where the unknown woman was. His heart dropped when he entered. It wasn’t you laying on the bed. He slowly walked over to the bed, the woman’s head rolled over to face Spencer, wincing as she sat up a little.
“Are you Spencer Reid?” The woman asks. Spencer only nods in response.
“Your wife…” Her voice is hoarse, “She saved my life.”
“Y/n? How? What happened?”
“The man brought her in, there was blood everywhere. I thought she was dead. But he left her in the room with me. I rushed to her side and she had a pulse. He’d shot her in the side. The bullet grazed her. I patched her up with what I had. Which was only a few t shirts. She finally woke up later that night. She told me that she knew where we were, she’d woken up long enough during the ride. We were in the middle of the woods, not far from civilization. So, we thought of a plan. She knew she couldn’t run so she told me to run and get help. She would attack the man when he came in. She made me promise if I got out, to tell them I needed to talk to Spencer Reid. It was late that night, the man came into the room and she attacked him from behind. I was able to slip out the door and I ran to find help.”
Spencer was quick to get on the phone with Penelope with the information. She worked her magic and soon there was a location.
Swat and the BAU team had the small cabin surrounded. There was no way out of this for the guy. He knew that. When he entered into the room, he was panicked. You used that to your advantage and was able to fight the gun from him, getting a clear shot through his chest.
Spencer’s heart stopped as the gunshot was heard. “Move in!” Swat yelled and begin closing in on the home.
Morgan was the one who saw it first. The door began to open and a figure limped out of the door. “Hold your fire!”
It was you. You were safe. Before he knew it, he was running to you, his body colliding with yours.
“Spencer!” You cried. The collision sent pain through your body, but you ignored it. Spencer was here. You were in Spencer’s arms and that is all that mattered.
Spencer’s body wracked with sobs and he held you, “Oh god… I’m so sorry. I’m sorry I couldn’t protect you.”
You shook your head, “I’m okay. I’m fine..” You pulled away to look at him. He looked rough. Bags under his eyes. His face was red and wet from crying. A tear slipped down your cheek and you wrapped your arms around him again.
“I love you so much… god I love you.” He says into your hair.
“I love you too…”
Spencer carried you to the ambulance and he never left your side, riding in the ambulance to the hospital. He never let go of your hand either, scared that he would lose you if he were to let go. He finally had to let you go as they took you into the hospital. He didn’t want to leave your side then, but your reassured him, you would be fine. You were safe and everything would be okay.

S5 Ep 3: Apdnarg is Really Hard to Spell
Yo guys, people are getting vaccinated, the sun is parting through the clouds, and I felt so nice that I even stopped listening to quite so many throwback 00′s BTS mashups (and yet I keep clicking on these dissonant catastrophes thinking “this time it’s got to be better. This time they’ll figure it out.” and like, no. Turns out you can’t match Brittany’s Toxic with BTS’ Black Swan. You can’t do that.)
This must be a sign that things are getting better. If anything, it means my personal tastes are improving. I mean I only clicked on like 3 “Dark Academia” Playlists where I could pretend I’m some sort of spooky witch in an abandoned library with a bad music player and basic taste in classical music (like can we ban Satie from Youtube for a little while?). Hell, I might even do a prompt update to this blog!
Yeah, you heard me, I’m actually going to stay ahead of the update schedule for Yugioh Abridged (maybe. I haven’t actually watched cuz of spoilers, I just noticed the thumbnail pop up on Youtube and was like “Damn it, they came out of hiatus??? I got hurry UP.”)
Anyway, speaking of the sky parting.
I’ll have you know my bro said this is actually more like a circumcision and it was one of the worst thing I have ever heard.
We get a chance to take in this lineup of confusing and varied character designs, and Joey. who is...still Joey.
The animators probably had to hold a strike in order for them to put Yugi in the audience, lets be real. There are TOO MANY PEOPLE in this shot and one is wearing a turban where you draw every single wrap. I hope those artists charged by the line.
Tea has a subplot where she’s just very frustrated with everyone she knows. They have been traveling together for like many weeks and got trapped in a foreign country so I get it. But at the same time, it’s kind of hard to picture Tea with female friends.
Because right now you got this 12 year old child, the other duelist who does not care about anything besides cards, and Kaiba’s 3 dragon cards that we’ve all collectively decided are female.
Hell it’s almost like the writers are asking themselves why Tea is here. Maybe they forgot. There’s no more ghosts to bus, no more people to knock out with her ass with random Olympic feats. Tea’s just sidelining.
(read more under the cut)
Mokuba is a itty bit bit taller this season, and so I guess that means he can legally climb on top of the cherry picker in order to give a riveting speech.
Really says a lot about Mokuba that he is so unphased about talking to, I dunno...an entire planet of people. Kind of a shame we never see this courage from Mokuba used for anything other than talking really, really big and giving everyone around him a really hard time.
Mokuba takes a moment to dunk on Yugi Muto, as is Kaiba tradition.
And then introduce the first pair of duelists, which obviously must be between the few people in this tournament that we actually know and care about.
Thankfully, in between last episode and this episode, Yugi has figured out who his own Grandpa is. This is a relief, because Yugi is such a mess, that I was fully convinced it would take over half a season for him to recognize it. I mean how long did it take him to figure out he shares a body with a ghost? Like half a season?
Instead Yugi recovered gracefully from not recognizing his grandpa, but it’s not like he bothered to tell anyone else, so the rest of our cast is just gonna be like “Is he my hairdresser? The guy who delivers my mail? Who is this guy who made absolutely no significant changes to his outfit or voice?”
Like sometimes this show goes full Spongebob silly kid’s show and you never know when to take it seriously or not. They might be sacrificing the entire cast next episode. I really don’t know. But for now their big concern is who is grandpa??? Like an innocent card version of “Are you my Mother?”
Faced with public speaking, Yugi decides to have a melt down.
We have seen him face monsters, we’ve seen him on TV dozens of times, he’s been in multiple competitions...but give a speech? Of course he can’t do that. The kid doesn’t attend enough school to know how to do that. Them’s learning skills.
And that was when a newly assembled wife-jet spliced through the sky like a souped up razer scooter and deposited 1 fully equipped Seto Kaiba in a Buzz Lightyear jetsuit.
THE RECOVERY.
Seto always watching over his Brother, ready to save this awkward party if it kills him (and it really should, that suit is held together by two seat-belts), making sure to get on that platform before Yugi starts going off about how he’s half an Ancient Egyptian. (Ah, life before social media. You could just be hella famous and also half a dead dude and people would just not know. I kinda miss the time before I knew literally everything about everyone.)
Please admire how close those flames are to setting Mokuba’s heavily hairsprayed mane completely alight. It would be an unforgettable spectacle.
These were absolutely just random ass jet packs that Gozaburo Kaiba made to kill hell tons of people, right? Like Seto found it in the family cabin, clutched to the heart of some crispy fried corpse and was like “neat! Mokuba! I found a cool toy!” and just plucked that thing out of that skeleton’s clutches and has been flying around for months?
Like this is Seto Kaiba’s Butter Glider, right?
Seriously what type of vehicle license do you need for one of these things? RIP My ‘Seto only has a scooter license’ headcanon.
Which I’m only even thinking about because I’ve had to try and make an appt with the DMV for days to get a freakin REAL ID. I went to sleep in 2019 and I could fly on a plane. I woke up in 2021 and it’s like “Want one last screw you?” and just...can 2020 please stop screwing me over? It’s March.
Anyway, the Jet is removed soon after, so no, this is not part of his new outfit. He goes right back to his Post-S4-Trauma-Normcore.
After wrestling this competition out of his brother’s hands and confusing everyone in the audience, Roland must have gotten the memo to cut the microphone before Seto got too excited and we were quickly ushered on to the next stage of the tournament.
One sec...the BTS Mashup playlist I just clicked on did a Black Swan X 7 rings mashup and it’s the worst thing my ears have ever heard.
Holy crap. I had to actually turn down my volume. Like...Ariana Grande already has music that has way too many overlapping singing parts on it--and then lets just stick a 52-person boy band on top? That’ll fix it. Yeah. Go ahead.
Wow. Even I had to change the song and you know how much I enjoy pop culture mistakes.
Spot the Mickey but like a million times easier because it’s a Massive Dick Shaped Dragon.
Yep. That’s my grocery shopping outfit. Except maybe not a lab coat and a duel disk. Wish I had a duel disk, that would make social distancing just a hell ton earlier. Just a “Yo, only one person in checkout, please” and then bap them on the head with a propelled discuss/hologram.
Anyway, Grocery shopping/Doctor man dueled the Purple Hair Boy, and considering that Purple Hair got screen time and shook Yugi’s hand once--I think that Doctor man doesn’t stand a freakin chance.
Good. I hate him.
Also, every time he breathes he’s gonna fog up his glasses. I have experience in this area. He can’t read his own cards in the same way I can’t read my phone if I’m in the refrigerated aisle.
So the way this tournament works, is everyone has to sit in the stadium to watch the show. Kinda like showing up to a football stadium just to watch a recorded TV monitor...but then again...that is how it feels to watch a football game at a football stadium when it’s live (at least with the tickets I usually get.)
And as we watch Grandpa waiting for his competitor, we find out that his competitor (Joey) is too busy eating snacks to give him the time of day.
Why do cartoon hot dogs always have lettuce? Is that seriously supposed to be relish? Or is there a place in the world where you put lettuce on your hot dog?
Sorry, bro has just informed of his favorite hot dog order, which is absolutely terrible so I will share it with you: a Five Guys hot dog with ketchup, mustard, pickle relish, onions, mushrooms, pickled peppers, and you guessed it--topped with freakin lettuce.
My own kin. How am I over 30 and just finding out that my baby brother thinks it’s normal to walk into a restaurant with normal god-fearing law-abiding people and order lettuce and mushrooms on a hot dog?
I have fully failed him.
The rest of this episode is watching both Joey Wheeler and Mokuba have a shared panic attack while Seto does freakin nothing.
Please remember that Seto has both a jetpack and a dragon wife plane and could have easily solved this problem. But nah.
Then again, Seto Kaiba has given this crew so MANY rides, that maybe he’s tired of being the Soccer Mom for the team?
Like they don’t actually say this episode, but Seto was the one in charge of like...this entire place, do you think he made the 2 for 1 special just to get Joey where it hurts the most? Or does it actually not take any subterfuge to screw Joey Wheeler because he’s just naturally this way?
Like Mokuba wasn’t there when Joey was told “stay right here, and then we will all go together to fight Dartz” and Joey was like “I’mma save Mai from herself although she told me not to!” and then he Hella Died. But, Mokuba did see the result, AKA, Joey’s dead body being carried on the back of Tristan. Maybe Mokuba never realized that Joey died because he went out of his way to be late?
Lets do a tally of every time I can recall with my dodgy memory that Joey was threatened to be DQ’d/pretty much was DQ’d either by his own fault or no fault of his own
-When he wasn’t allowed to go on the boat to Murder Island because he was a stupid nobody kid who did not have a dueling glove
-When he wasn’t actually supposed to be in Pegasus’ tourney and was, in fact, secretly using half of Yugi’s entrance ticket the entire time
-when Bandit Keith stole the ticket that Joey got from Yugi so then Joey had to borrow Mai’s ticket although she had just used it so it really shouldn't have counted. Because, really anyone could have just piggy backed off of each other’s ticket until the whole boat went through that castle.
-When his account was hacked to get entered into Kaiba’s tourney when Kaiba very clearly told him he could not apply solely because he was Joey Wheeler.
-When he was late to his sister’s eye surgery because he got mugged by Marik’s Rare Hunters, so she almost refused to do the surgery.
-When Joey got possessed by Marik, and as Marik, threatened to murder everyone else in the tournament including both of the Kaiba brother’s who’s tournament it was, and then chained himself to Yugi Muto to throw both of them to the bottom of the ocean.
-I think there was a point when he threatened to attack Kaiba in Kaiba’s own tourney while not possessed? Like several times?
-when he got struck by Lightning and almost did not stand up fast enough after being struck by lightning, which is apparently a type of DQ in Duel Monsters.
-When he tried to save Mai from getting hit by a fireball, but then Yugi did it instead, and then so many people were standing on the dueling platform that Kaiba couldn’t possibly DQ them all.
-When he entered the restricted area of the blimp in order to hassle Kaiba into landing the Blimp, which Kaiba did not do.
-When Marik killed Joey before Joey could press the “go” button on his duel disk to play the card that should have won Joey the match.
-When he was dueling a lawyer in a digital universe but then the dice was like...weighted? So Noah had to walk over and be like “The hell is this weighted dice? This is my perfect digital world? How did you even do that?” and then Joey won because the match was no longer legit.
-When Joey yelled at Noah too much and so Noah turned Joey to stone for being a rude ass spectator
-When Mai was like “Wheeler and Valon, listen closely: do NOT murder each other” and then Joey did a murder on Valon so she was like “I guess I have no choice, I was very clear” and killed Joey straight up.
-When Joey decided to block Seto’s fireballs while Joey Wheeler WAS a playing card, somehow disrespecting both Dartz and Seto Kaiba at the same time.
-When Joey was playing cards but then got absorbed into a giant Leviathan and basically couldn’t play anymore after that.
-There’s probably hell ton of S0 stuff I just haven’t seen yet.
-This episode
And Joey runs fast for a montage of wacky things that really have no business being in a theme park. Things like this:
(remember when Bakura almost died from a rock that ended up being a balloon? It comes full circle.)
The stuff that the Kaiba brother’s think is normal and fun.
Anyway Joey fights off a bunch of hologram snakes and bats and everyone is like “Should we tell him it’s just holograms???” And it’s like wow, guys, how many times have these ‘holograms’ straight up murdered Joey Wheeler and everyone else on this cast? Too many? Because I have a google doc with so many deaths on it. 7,805,844,048, to be exact.
Anyway, he gets there with five seconds to spare and Mokuba’s like “well at least you were still entertaining while we filmed you in front of a live audience being a total spaz for 15 minutes straight, so I’ll let you go.”
Grandpa and Joey start playing, Joey completely oblivious that this is just an older Muto, while Hawkins walks up awkwardly and is like “hey guys. I’m so sorry about this.”
(welcome to my font choices, for those new here, I have to make weird font color choices to make sure it’s legible for the colorblind and also for the non-colorblind. This one is not much contrast, so I may change it up in the future, but for now, this is Grandpa Muto’s new font. I apologize to every graphic designer reading this. Please don’t tell anyone who has ever hired me for graphic design about this blog.)
What’s funny about this exchange is that after they find out that Yugi’s Grandpa is Apdnarg (HOLY my brain cannot get around the spelling for that, and I will not change it in the caps. I cannot do a ‘pdn’ ever again), they don’t stand on his side of the field or anything. Hawkins is legit Solomon Muto’s only fan during this exchange and like...damn. Way not to back your Grandpa, Yugi.
Yugi immediately strides up to Mokuba to non-confrontation-ally inform him that he has stepped over a line and Mokuba is like “what are these things you say called ‘lines?’”
According to Mokuba, Solomon Muto begged him to be in the competition so he could relive his glory days (glory days making no sense here, because the game has only been released for the past 15 years, so glory days is like...the before times that can only be referring to disgraced archeologists and Pegasus ((who is, in his own way...a disgraced archeologist, too))) and Mokuba was like
“You trained Yugi Muto, right? Hey that’s good enough for me. This drama is gold. People will eat it up. Hell yes. Don’t be afraid to abduct him a little bit. Maybe trap a couple people in a digital hellscape for a little while? Now we go by Pegasus house rules here, so fire as many lasers as you want, but just make sure not to hit anyone in the face. Oh man, we are going to be swimming in cash. Love it, Muto Sr, love it.”
But I dunno, I feel like Grandpa won’t make it past next episode. It is Joey. We kinda need him to make it past Ep 4 of the arc. If Grandpa Muto becomes the new Joey Wheeler, that will be a weird transition for this show to make.
But that’s all for today, as always, here is the link to read these in chrono order becuase there’s SO MANY that you don’t need to read backwards--don’t do it--just use the chrono tag (and I don’t know if you can add compound tags, but I did separate the Season from the Episode, so if you write S4, it should only pop up stuff from S4. I didn't’ do that to seasons 1-3 though because I just...didn’t.)
https://steve0discusses.tumblr.com/tagged/yugioh/chrono
And because I brought it up: here it is, the best BTS Mashup that I found on my deep dive. Like legit--this one isn’t a mess:
youtube
Most of other ones are horrible in a fascinating way. Like I’m not even a BTS fan, I think I sort of age out of that metric, I’m just bored and quarantined. And lets be real, we all appreciate a good bop when we hear it.
#yugioh#ygo#yu gi oh#photo recap#recap#episode recap#yugi muto#seto kaiba#mokuba kaiba#Joey Wheeler#Apdnarg#Grandpa muto#tea gardner#tristan taylor#professor hawkins#and then I ranted about BTS#but please don't quiz me about BTS I know nothing about them aside from the music#I actually thought there were over 12 of them because every time I see them perform it feels like an entire stageplay production of people#like a 101 dalmations situation where every time I saw BTS there were 3 new people#I assumed it was like the Gorrilaz where people just show up and then disappear in a rotation#but no. There's 7 BTS members#that can't be right#there has to be more than 7#is this a berenstein bears situation?#how is there only 7?#I swear there used to be like 16#and they would be introduced like here's jimin and Jungkook and red and yellow and green and brown and scarlet and black and ochre and pea#like is google seriously telling me there's only 7 kids in this band?#this is the biggest scam google has ever played on me#this weird alternate timeline that not only has an epidemic but also only 7 members of BTS

it’s the ba sing se bimbos, back again (jinjetsongko). here’s some stupid stunts these ridiculous kids would pull:
mixing the dangerous herbs and serums song and her mother have. they all get accidentally high one day. fortunately they do it at zuko’s apartment, so when iroh comes home and finds them tripping he just gives them calming tea and amuses himself by asking them philosophical questions.
“what is the meaning of life?” iroh asks them. “fruit pies,” song says very seriously. “FREEDOM!!” jet roars. “being the sexiest person in the room at all times,” jin says. zuko says nothing, because he’s too busy crying and hugging iroh and telling him he loves him.
“what do you think the meaning of life is, mushi?” song asks. “life is what you make of it,” iroh tells them. “personally, i find meaning in doing what i love, and spending time with the people i love. this evening, for example, is very meaningful to me.”
of course, since none of them have fathers, they all join zuko in crying and telling iroh they love him.
at some point, jin adopts a wild injured pygmy puma, who she calls sho, and is furious that he takes an immediate liking to zuko over her.
sho becomes their mascot, and also a fat lazy house cat since they all pamper him endlessly, but one day he goes missing.
they track him down to a butcher shop (similar to the one momo almost got chopped up in), release all the live animals, and somehow manage to set a fire in the process. song and jet assume between the grease and the heat and the commotion, it was bound to happen. but jin caught zuko’s look of rage when he saw sho crying in a cage. she knows who started the fire.
she’s not a snitch, though, and obviously she’s glad to have her pet back, so jin just keeps up the whole grease fire thing. plus, zuko’s such an awkward dweeb that she figures he really needs his some kind of deep dark secret to stay even A Little Bit Cool, so she lets him have it.
they don’t really stir the attention of the dai li since they mostly cause (and sometimes solve) problems in the lower ring, and while zuko and song are happy to fly under the radar, this just infuriates jet and jin. they want attention, damn it!
so they end up planning increasingly ridiculous heists in the upper ring. jewelry store underpaying their laborers? robbed and tagged as a scam. fancy government official is selling secrets to the fire nation? so sad, too bad, the guy goes missing but he leaves a chopped-off finger behind. children are being stolen and sold to wealthy buyers in the upper ring, eager to show off their “rescued” babies? the whole thing is exposed and kids are reunited with their families.
somehow, they still only barely get the dai li’s attention (probably because they’re too busy keeping tabs on the avatar). zuko has a talk with jet about thinking things through. this is the only thing that gets jin and jet to chill out because ZUKO using words like “irrational” and “risky” seriously is the wake-up call of the century.
(at this point, i could see the story going one of two ways: 1. life continues as normal for the friends, and jet learns his lesson, or 2. jin backs off but jet continues to go bigger and more extreme until he gets kidnapped by the dai li. he thinks he has a plan, until he gets brainwashed.)
(song, zuko, and jin notice primarily because he disappears for a bit. this isn’t unheard of, but as the days creep into a week they get worried. when he comes back, he’s just...weird. it’s definitely worth investigating. song and her mother use some herbal medicine to clear jet’s mind, and discover just how sinister the dai li is. obviously, they have to get revenge and figure out what’s going on. maybe they even run across a certain lost bison on their trip to lake laogai.)
other (happier) shenigans include: visiting the zoo and all of them being soft for the animals, accidentally starting a self-defense club for kids in the lower ring, and separately meeting different members of the gaang.
song meets katara while they’re both out at the market, and, in proper teenage girl fashion, they compliment each other’s outfits. they chat by the fruit for a while, song mentions how dealing with teenage boys can be annoying and katara’s just like tell me about it! then katara mentions she’s a healer, and obviously she and song geek out over techniques and medicines they can both use to supplement their efforts in the future. it’s a very wholesome encounter.
jin meets sokka and flirts her butt off. he’s funny and cute and a little awkward, but he tells her he’s got a thing with another girl. jin tells him she’s very lucky, and he says “actually, i’m the lucky one, she’s the leader of the kyoshi warriors!” and jin just flips out. the kyoshi warriors are her heroes. she used to want to run away and join them. holy shit dude DO YOU KNOW HOW COOL YOUR GIRLFRIEND IS??? and sokka’s just like i know! she’s amazing! and they spend half an hour talking about suki.
zuko meets toph, who vaguely recognizes his voice, but never really got an explanation about who he was, and since his uncle’s really cool, she doesn’t really care about the incident in the ghost town. zuko was so distraught over iroh at the time that he had barely even noticed toph (plus, even if she does look kind of familiar, that extremely powerful earthbender couldn’t have been a 12-year-old blind girl, right? right??) she compliment iroh’s tea-making ability, but admits she doesn’t really get the art herself.
“thank you!” zuko says, because someone else gets it - it’s just tea! then he blushes a little at his outburst and gets back to work. she chats with iroh some more before thanking him for the tea and leaving, and zuko lowkey thinks she’s really funny, and as she leaves she says “it was nice to see you again, mushi! well. hear you. i can’t see anything.” and zuko cracks up in spite of himself. (once zuko joins team avatar, their disaster-rich-kid-solidarity comes out in full force).
jet meets aang (again) but it’s via the graffiti he paints on the walls of the upper ring. it says stuff like “division is oppression” and “mr. earth king, tear down this wall!” and aang replies whole-heartedly, with something like “that’s what i’ve been saying! also this place is weird. have you lived here long? i’m aang bumi. i am called bumi. after the famous king. not the earth king. the other one. most importantly, i am not related to the avatar at all.”
i imagine sokka helped him write it, and since we all know they go into Stupid Mode when they’re together there’s a lot of crossed-out lines and rewrites.
jet responds by talking at length about the “resistance”, and aang’s just like “oh cool! power to the people! but also peace and love!” and jet thinks it’s dorky but he also is like “oh my god this kid is so stupid. when i find this idiot child i am going to teach him to about the revolution and then i’m going to protect him with my life.”
i like to think they all join team avatar, eventually, but the first meeting is just:
katara: song! why are you with zuko?
song: zuko? no, this is jet.
sokka: no, that’s jet! THATS zuko! he’s the prince of the fire nation!
jin, knowing full well zuko’s a firebender and suddenly panicking: he’s the what
jet: you think LEE is the prince of the fire nation? he couldn’t even lead this friend group.
toph: are we talking about mushi’s nephew?
aang: who the heck is mushi???
song: excuse me, all due respect, because you’re the avatar and it’s an honor, but please don’t talk about mushi in that tone.
sokka: oh it’s an hONOR IS IT????
zuko: (banging his head against a wall)
credit for this au as always to the awesome @azenkii

spencer reid
fandom: criminal minds
pairing: spencer reid x reader
summary: you & spencer & the team head to nyc for a case. spencer gets a little jealous about all the attention you’ve been receiving from the head detective.
not my gif!
***
“wheels up in 30,” hotch said as we finished briefing for the case. i gathered my papers & left the conference room with everyone else but slowed to talk with spencer.
he walked besides me & started talking, “this totally ruins our plans for tonight.” disappointment was evident on his face as well as his voice.
“i know,” my heels clicked the floor as we kept walking, “maybe we can have a date night in new york though!” i said in a hopeful tone, looking at my boyfriend of the past 3 months. we kept our relationship a secret from the team, but let hotch know due to the strict rules the bau had set in stone for employee relationships.
spencer looked over to me, “yeah i guess, but we might not even get anytime off for this case. hotch seemed serious about it, more serious than normal.”
“we’ll figure it out babe,” he perked up at the pet name & a light blush dusted his cheeks. “i’ll see you on the plane.” i walked away from the tall man & went to grab my go bag. this was going to be a hectic case.
***
we arrived in new york & quickly hopped in the suv’s parked outside the jet. spence, morgan, & i in one & jj, hotch, rossi, & emily in the other. morgan of course went in the drivers seat & reid in shot gun.
i sat in the back & looked over the case a bit more; 3 women all had shoulder length, brown hair & green eyes. they had all been found in their homes with their lips cut off & ligature marks on their wrists as well as a single gunshot to the head. there had already been 3 killings in 2 weeks, so this guy wasn’t taking much time off.
we pulled up to the nypd office & i hopped out of the car. “so what do you think y/l/n?” morgan asked me.
i whipped my head around, “what, sorry.”
“i said should i let spencer drive more?” spence & morgan looked at me, both wanting me to pick their side.
“definitely not,” i said with a smile. “you remember back in boston a couple months ago?”
“okay that was one time & i said i was sorry!” spencer defended.
morgan tisked, “sorry doesn’t fix a broken windshield.” i laughed as reid huffed in annoyance.
“it’s alright, spence, we all have our flaws & your’s seems to not be too bad. at least not as bad as had an addiction with a certain high school glee club show,” i stated as morgan hushed me.
“keep your voice down, princess!” spencer & i laughed at his reaction; we caught him watching the show one night & he begged us not to tell anyone.
we walked to the elevator & met up with the rest of the team that had already arrived. hotch greeted us promptly, “detective walker this is ssa derek morgan, ssa y/n y/l/n, & dr. spencer reid.”
i smiled at the man & shook his hand like morgan where as reid opted for a wave. “thank you all for coming up. we’ve got you situated in the conference room back there,” he lead us back & started talking about the case. “i normally would try to figure this out by myself, but seeing the pattern i knew i had to call some help in & i’m not complaining if that help is as sweet looking as ms. y/l/n here.”
a light blush spread on my cheeks & the detective looked pleased with himself.
“well, i’ll leave you all to it,” he winked at me as he walked out & i quickly looked over at emily & jj with wide eyes. they both laughed a bit as i rolled my eyes at the very up front detective’s actions.
“y/n’s got game,” derek joked as he nudged my shoulder.
“shut up,” i said as he laughed. with that we got to work on the case.
***
hotch had taken jj to talk to some of the families of the victims, while rossi and morgan had gone searching on a lead that garcia had given them. spencer and i were working on the geographical profile as emily had been looking at the crime scenes more thoroughly.
it was pretty late as we had been working for a couple hours and had arrived around 3 o’clock that day. i yawned as i put one of the pins down, “i’m going to see if they have some coffee, do guys want any?” i asked spencer and emily.
“i’m good, thanks,” em said, barely looking up from her work.
i turned to spencer as he nodded, “the regular with-”
“lots and lots of sugar and cream, i know your coffee order by now doctor,” i told the brunette man as he smiled brightly at me. “i’ll be right back.” i walked out of the conference room they had set us up in and went to look around for the coffee machine as a tap on my shoulder turned me around.
“i couldn’t help but notice a beautiful lady in distress,” detective walker observed, “whatcha lookin’ fo’ miss. y/l/n?” his new york accent was heavy as he talked to me.
“uh, a coffee machine or somewhere i could get some coffee,” i told him.
“right this way,” he lead me through the department and pointed to the little set up they had, “if you need anything else let me know miss.”
“thank you, detective,” i smiled lightly as i got work fixing up the coffee for spencer and i. i walked back and handed spencer his coffee as he mumbled a thank you as emily chuckled under her breath. i sat next to her i sipped the warm beverage, “what is it?”
she smiled at me, “oh, nothing. detective sweet talk seems sweet and not too crazy as well as the obvious attraction on his side of things,” i furrowed my eyebrows as she sighed, “when was the last time you got laid, y/n?”
i spit out my coffee as emily laughed loudly. spencer mumbled something, although i was too caught up on what emily had said to really notice what spencer had muttered. “excuse me?” i asked her with wide eyes as i reached for napkin and wiped my face.
“he seems nice and everything and he’s not too bad on the eyes either,” emily said with a smirk on her face.
i rolled my eyes, “i’m good em. i’m very happy with my romantic decisions right now,” she nodded and i saw spencer smile lightly as he continued working on the map.
the rest of the team entered the room as we work for another couple hours before hotch called it a night. none of the leads had worked and the families weren’t as much help so we all decided to turn in and get fresh eyes and return to the case tomorrow morning.
***
we got to the hotel and everyone had settled in their room and i waited a good 15 minutes before tip toeing over to spencer’s room and as soon as i was about to knock he swung the door open as i smiled brightly. i walked in as he followed and laid down on his bed. he flickered on the tv and found a good movie before laying down next to me.
we watched it silently as i placed my head on his chest as he had an arm slung around me. “do you mean it?” he asked suddenly as i looked up at him.
“mean what?” i asked as he sighed.
“nevermind, it’s stupid and-”
“nothing that’s bothering you this much is stupid,” i sat up and looked at him, “what is it, spencer? you can tell me,” i reached for his hands and interlaced them with mine.
“it’s just,” he looked down as the sheets of the bed, “you seem so unbothered when men just fling themselves at you and i don’t know, i can’t seem to compete and it’s just that you said you’re happy with your romantic decisions and i just keep thinking ‘what if she’s not?’ and ‘what if she’s just saying that because she doesn’t want to hurt my feeling and there are so many other guys that would be great with you that i don’t even compare too!’”
spencer finished his rant as he finally looked up at me. “okay firstly, i’m unbothered because i know that i have the perfect man already by my side so i don’t need anyone else. secondly, like i said before i am very, very, very happy, ecstatic even, about my romantic decisions, because of the very amazing doctor that i love very much. thirdly, of course i don’t want to hurt your feelings, but i would be strait up lying if i said i didn’t want to be with you and i think you would be able to pick that up very quickly, doctor. lastly, you can’t compete to them,” he looked at me with puppy eyes, “you can’t compete in something that you’ve already won. you, spencer reid, are the most amazing, gorgeous, caring, sweet, loving, beautiful, handsome, funny, adorable, and every other great adjectives that i can’t remember right now,” i smiled at him, “i love you so so much and i know it’s early in the relationship to say that, but i mean it spence. i’m sorry if i ever don’t let it bother me as much as it should, i’ll make sure to keep that in mind, alright?”
he smiled and nodded his head, “i love you.”
i leaned in and kissed his lips softly as he hummed in content and smiled into the kiss. he pulled me closer to him as we kept pressing our lips together as his hands found my waist and mine found his hair. i pulled away smiled at him lightly, “let’s get some rest, yeah? we can look at all the cool places new york has to offer for an amazing date night while solving this case.”
“that sounds great,” spencer said softly as his kissed me again and pulled away as we slipped under the covers. i snuggled up to his side and had an arm and leg around him as well as my head resting on his chest. he wrapped his arms around me and rubbed circles on my back and soon enough we were fast asleep.
***
morgan, hotch, spencer, and i sat in the conference room as we started looking at the theories again as something suddenly clicked. “what if our unsub is a female,” i said aloud as the men looked at me.
“go on,” hotch told me as i nodded.
“the lips are all taken off of the victims which we see as a more sexual and intimate act, but no sexual assault happened to the victims, right?” they all nodded, “it’s clean and organized, most female unsubs are that way and what if all of the victims are surrogates for the one she really wants. the one she’s jealous of. she takes their lips maybe it here way of saying that they can’t have what she wants a boyfriend or husband. she’s jealous and wants to stop them from having a chance with her object of affection.”
“it would make sense,” hotch started, “no forced entry. her ruse would get her into the house as well as having the victims more trusting and possibly sympathetic. good work, y/l/n.” hotch left the room and began to call the rest of the team, telling them my theory.
“nice job, princess. where’d you get that idea?” morgan questioned.
“i don’t know,” i lied, “just kinda came to me.” he nodded and looked at me skeptically as i turned and started to rework the profile with spencer.
hotch walked in as talked, “let’s give the profile.”
***
the team, plus garcia over the phone. and i sat in the conference room as detective walker came in with coffees. “here you all go, if figured you guys might need a pick me up,” we all smiled and took the coffee’s gratefully. he came next to me and placed some sugar packet down by me, “here’s some extra sugar, sugar,” he winked at me as jj and emily stifled their laughs, morgan smirked, hotch and rossi rolled their eyes, and spencer frowned.
“i appreciate it, detective. i should tell you that i have a boyfriend and although you are a sweet man, i’m very happy,” i told him as everyone looked at me with different expressions.
“well, he is one luck guy, miss,” with that he left us to get back to work. i started sifting through the files again as the rest of the team stayed silent.
“you what!?” garcia yelled over the phone as i jumped at the loud noise, “you have a boyfriend and didn’t even tell us! you didn’t tell me!” i bit my lip as to stop the wide smile from breaking out onto my face.
“sorry, penny,” i said sheepishly as i looked at my coworker who all had different amounts of surprise on their face, well except spencer and hotch.
“sorry is not gonna cut it, princess!” penelope yelled, “i need his name, address, country of birth, all of it! i have to make sure this guy isn’t some weird stalker!”
“i don’t think you have to worry about that-” i started.
“she’s right, if this guy is apart of your life we need to know him too,” derek spoke as penny agreed over the phone. i glanced over to spencer who was smiling widely as i silently tried to asses if he was fine with me telling them.
“wait a minute,” emily said, “why are we all shocked execpt him,” emily pointed over to spencer who tried to hide his smile.
“about time, you all figured it out,” hotch muttered as the room broke out with ‘what’s?’ and yelling.
“who!?” penny said over the phone.
“how long?” jj asked.
“nice going, kid!” derek slapped reid’s back while smiling.
“took you two long enough!” rossi smiled at spence and i.
“wait, have you two been sneaking out of your hotel rooms? i thought i was imagining that,” emily questioned.
“i am going ask one more time or i might explode! who is the mystery man!?” pennt yelled over the phone.
“spencer and i are dating, penny. and to answer jj’s and emily’s questions, 3 months and yes, sorry i thought we were quieter,” i said to the group of profilers.
“penelope?” spencer asked after a few moments of silence from the woman.
she squealed loudly as we all covered our ears and grimaced at the sound. “my ship! oh thank god! i have been waiting for this moment since i met you two! i’ve had to wait years for this oh my god! i think i might pass out!”
we all laughed and soon stopped as a chiming sound was heard over the phone.
“hey! i got the address and i’m sending it to your phones now! go crime fight my amazing love birds and friends!” and with that we all went over to catch our serial killer.
***
i knocked on spencer’s door as he opened it, “how does dinner at the museum of astronomy and galactic beings sound? along with passes to see everything they have to offer?” spencer smiled brightly at my statement.
“sounds amazing, let me get ready and we can head out,” he kissed my forehead and soon enough he was ready and we went to have an amazing date night in new york.

Ghosting You
Chapter 3: Peter - I Would Have Ben So Gentl
The thrill should have lasted a lot longer. Peter was pretty sure. After two weeks, MAY was still thrilled. But Peter felt nothing other than confusion. Confusion, and a little numbness. And that wasn’t fair. The thrill should have lasted longer.
May had a million questions, of course. It was two days before she even drove it. They had concluded it was a posthumous gift from Tony Stark, it had to be. That should have been a thrill for Peter, a thrill that didn’t wear off, but it did.
May taught him how to drive. He picked it up quickly. She said he was a natural. He read the drivers manual in under an hour and studied for two nights online. He wanted to be good. He wanted Tony to be proud of him.
But Tony wasn’t around to be proud of him, and that wasn’t okay. For some reason graduating was okay. Getting ready for Columbia was okay. But driving the new car? Not okay.
It didn’t make him feel thrilled.
It made him feel disgusting. Even sitting inside it alone, pretending it was a gift from Tony, pretending he was driving somewhere to pick Tony up and take him out on a thank-you date, even that felt wrong. It felt bad.
Tony trusted him with the car, the same way he trusted Peter with the glasses hidden away in a safe under Peter’s bed.
And Peter should never have been trusted with either one.
***
June drug on endlessly and Peter was still texting Tony. Every night he promised himself it was the last night. Every morning he realized it probably WAS the last morning. Then weeks passed and he noticed he still hadn't stopped. Sometimes he would go sit at night at the memorials, the official memorials, the makeshift memorials, just to torture himself. Just to try to convince himself he was living in a fantasy that only existed in his head. Each time it seemed to work. Until the next day.
One thing about the car, though.
He was getting a whole new set of friends.
And those friends had hobbies that were a lot different than his other friends.

I said “please don’t think I’m ghosting you” but I was totally ghosting you because I can’t deal but I won’t be ghosting you any more. I thought ghosting you was the grownup thing to do. Nothing I do feels grown up. You’d think coke would make me feel grown up but no. When a man loses his v-card to a girl, that’s a grownup thing, right? Nope. So I gotta lose this v-card to a guy but there Are. No. Guys. And you aren’t around to help. YOU ghosted ME Tony.
* * *
He probably should have felt a *little* guilty about it all. Listening to his friends talk as they got high by day, using that info to bust the dealers by night. But he was still Spider-Man. He still had responsibilities.
* * *
It was supposed to be you, Tony. I was saving it for you. It was yours. But it wasn’t you. Why wasn’t it you? Why wasn’t I good enough?
If its not you its not anyone ill jubst be aseuxual thats a thing callmyself ace no more girls for me thats for sure. Ill just die a virgin

Meth was probably supposed to have a lot more effect on a person than this. But that must have been his spider abilities. Alcohol never had any effect, at least, one back-pack full of alcohol had no effect and he didn’t have the money to try MORE than that.
There was no one around to see how much meth he had consumed, and, it turned out, it could move the dial, just a little. It was probably supposed to do something else, but what it was doing was fine. Took the edges off the world, made the horrors just a little fuzzier. Peter lay on the rooftops gazing up into the stars and realized that things maybe weren’t quite as bad as he had thought. He took out his phone to tell Tony.
I shouldn’t be telling you these things, but here I am. I don’t know why Meth has such a bad rep. But I guess the toothless thing is a bad thing. Although it’s hard to say. I’d lose teeth for this. It seems like a fair trade just like paying money for groceries or getting banged up to stop a train or getting dead to save the world right?
I miss you so much I can feel it. You never kissed me, not even once, but you put your arm around me and I can still feel that. I know what one is like so I know what two would be like. I know how strong you are. How strong youd feel. When we’re together again.
I think it might be soon.
***
Peter Parker didn’t get high.
That was strictly a Spider-Man activity. When he “got high” (i.e. lay on top of New York City skyscrapers and watched the jets go by, daydreaming that he and Tony were on those planes together, jetting off to somewhere private and romantic and… personal. That was his ‘getting high.’ Because he was too high up to be seen. He loved the secret joke.) he was hidden from all prying eyes. There was no one to see.
Not that he exactly felt like Spider-Man while he was impaired, he felt… like someone else. The “Night Monkey” possibly. That was okay. The Night Monkey wasn’t an Avenger.
It didn’t matter. It was a time for him, and for him only. Some private time for Peter Parker and the ghost of Tony Stark.
Sometimes he impaired-texted Tony. Mostly he didn’t. Mostly he impaired-texted Tony in his head.
You never kissed me why didn’t you try to kiss me I would have let you kiss me in the car your face was bashed in your arm I would have ben so gentl
Sometimes the impaired-texting was embarrassing to read. Fortunately he was the only one reading them.

𑁯໋ 𝐅𝐑𝐄𝐘𝐉𝐀'𝐒 𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐊𝐆𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐃 ,
youngest daughter born to the sayid family, a powerhouse of politicians. her mother is a current sitting senator for new york and her father is the current deputy prime minister of malaysia. they met years prior, during her mother’s first term meanwhile her father was the former attorney general for malaysia, at a un gala. as much as they both were passionate and concerned about their work, love never had a timing and they were married the following year. all the siblings have relatively normal age gaps ( the most being 4 ) but freyja was a bit of a surprise, and the only sibling in her early twenties. the rest are in their thirties, with her eldest sister nearing forty soon. that, paired with the fact freyja showed zero interest in politics, allowed them to have a rather hollow and strained relationship. she has a somewhat stable and semi-consistent relationship with her older sister, the second youngest, but they don’t meet very often due to work. they often treated her like the ultimate downfall of the sayid family.
growing up, money and the likes clearly weren’t a problem. as a child, she’d tag along often with her mom or dad ( rarely ever both ) and occasionally with a sibling, and hated anything that wasn’t sweet, glittery, or one of a kind. helping with campaigns were boring in freyja’s eyes and she’d often sneak away to go doodle in the bathroom walls or play on her blinged out, pink nintendo ds. needless to say, this was never going to be her jam. her parents role in her life was rather inconsistent, but not on purpose. it was mainly work-related, so she was taken care by a few trusted nannies and butlers. her siblings all moved out by the time freyja was finishing up elementary school, she was used to being alone.
not much else is known of freyja ( everything was p chill ) until she enters high school. she enrolls into a private and elite boarding school in europe and instantly becomes a hybrid ; both the social butterfly and the queen bee. the sudden attention she receives and the feeling of having people under her thumb sets her heart on fire. she adores this, loves it even. she gets what she wants with a bat of her bambi eyes or a little whine, but no one really can say no to her. beauty and power go hand in hand, and freyja sayid masters it by age fifteen. while it was a boarding school, her parents purchased an estate for freyja to stay at instead nearby with her nannies and butlers and security. what that meant to freyja ? throw the sickest summer parties before school started and the best holiday get togethers the first week of winter break ( before she inevitably flies off in a private jet with her friends to a sayid family owned villa near the alps ) and she began drinking / smoking early on. the world was this giant oyster and freyja the pearl. graduated with honors as valedictorian and prom queen, voted ‘ most likely to rule the world ‘ and oh, how she is coming so close.
after graduating, she spent a few years travelling and partying with friends. she spent less and less time with family, only for formal events or re-elections or other boring shit she didn’t give two cents about. most of the time she showed up stoned to pass the time away. most of her antics were able to be paid off by her family to save themselves some embarrassment, but sometimes ( notably about a rumored new beau or leaving the club at ungodly hours ) would slip onto tabloids. and yes, her pr manager is 100% always stressing out over freyja.
her influence over value was noticed by brands by age 19, when something she wore was sold out as soon as the pictures of her in it went viral. by 20, she was soon modelling for major brands and received early invitations to attend fashion week for brands like gucci, saint laurent, and chanel. dubbed ‘ human gucci ‘ and ‘ human chanel ‘ due to her fashion sense. hairpins that she sported one spring went viral and were soon known as ‘ freyja’s hairpins ‘ , a huge tell tale sign of her powerful influence over value and selling power. had modelled for magazines such as vogue ( internationally, too ) / harper’s bazaar / marie claire / elle / high cut / w / cosmopolitan / and billboard. currently, the face of ‘ hera ‘, a south korean luxury brand, the house ambassador for chanel, collabed with samsung to release a limited edition version of a phone with her signature color ; red, known as ‘ freyja’s red ‘. recently, she has worked as an editor for her latest magazine release ( feb’ 21 for vogue ) and last year, released a collaboration with ‘ gentle monster ‘ , a south korean luxury eyewear brand, and was just named as the face for a popular liquor brand in sweden. she is taking a small break until summer to give her some time to breath with a hectic life before she goes back into working. basically, her face is like everywhere.
a jealous, vindictive sort of bitch. wants what other people has because she wants to see how far the world will bend for her and because she knows she can have it. has cheated with partners before, though it has toned down a bit now. will flirt and mess with someone, not caring if they are in a relationship or talking to someone. often goes viral for ‘ sitting pretty ‘ and really loves being at the dead center of the spotlight. at the same time, the void of being ‘ abandoned ‘ by family makes her extremely loyal to friends ( yes, she picks sides after friendship and romantic breakups ) and her chosen family. will go to the end of the world for them, often spoils them with matching jewelry or shirts to go on cute dates together. bad day ? she’ll get a lift over, make you pack, and head to the sayid family jet to go wherever you want to go. a good ally to have, a terrifying enemy to have.

“OK, do you know what I think sounds much more fun than watching you work right now?” You asked from the bed as you rolled on to your stomach on the sheets toward where Jeff was working at the desk in the master bedroom.
“Playing the piano some more?” He asked without looking away from his laptop. You smirked and shook your head as you set the book you grabbed from the main room’s collection aside, pulled your knees up to your chest, and sat up.
“Well I can do that any time.” You giggled as you pulled off your night gown and tossed it toward the desk by his left elbow. He startled the slightest bit when it hit him, and he turned around to look at you with his eyebrow raised as you shot your underwear at him like a sling shot. “When else am I going to be able to skinny dip on the top of a cruise ship?” You turned on your heel with a giant smile and headed over to the veranda doors without a look back. “You coming or is work more fun to you?” He grumbled ‘Goddamn’ under his breath as you turned the corner and headed up the stairs to the small hot tub. The water felt absolutely perfect as you stepped into it, and Jeff finally joined you when you got the jets figured out and turned on. “Oh, no!” You said with a shake of your head as you moved in front of the stairs and shook your head as he set down a pair of robes from the closet. “This is a no clothing zone.”
“Yea, I’m still not fucking walking around with my dick out.” He laughed as he glanced over his shoulder before taking off his boxers and quickly getting into the hot tub.
“OK, who the fuck is gunna see you up here?” You laughed as you sat down in the seat next to him and put your legs across his lap. “The birds? I hear they are huge gossips.” You squeaked a laugh when he tickled your sides and pouted at him when he stopped.
“Gentlemen my age aren’t meant to skinny dip…”
“Huh? What does that even mean?” You asked as you threw your hair up in a messy bun on top of your head.
“You have tattoos?” He asked as he tilted his head a bit to see the tattoo that ran down your rib cage. You glanced down at it and nodded your head as you sat up so you could turn toward him a bit.
“The first song mama Beth taught me on the piano was Hallelujah. She wasn’t having none of that Twinkle Twinkle shit with her… with her own kid.” You sniffled and shrugged your shoulders. “So she taught me her favorite song. And it was the song that got me into Juilliard… well, sort of…”
“Story?” He asked gently as he slowly dragged the tips of his fingers up and down your shin.
“Well… OK, here’s the thing.” You started as you got comfortable in your spot and shifted the jet toward a small knot in your back a little more. “So if you haven’t realized by now, I am not normal. In any sort of capacity.”
“Nooo….” He sassed, teasingly. “You don’t say?”
“Shut up.” You laughed as you flicked a bit of water at him. “Its more fun to live life outside the box. So when I sent in my audition tape, I did the most stereotypical classical song you could think of. Beethoven. Bleck. But it got me through to the auditions so yay. But when I got into the practice room before the auditions and was warming up, I heard one of the ladies who worked at my… second? Maybe third group home say ‘don’t be afraid to be different’. Now, she had been talking about how I went through a phase when I was 13 of wearing bright, clashing colors every day because I thought it looked cool. But it just kinda changed my thinking that day. So I went into my audition and mashed up Hallelujah and Can’t Help Falling in Love, because it was playing on my iPod when I walked in to Juilliard, on the spot. Took me the full thirty minutes to figure out how to do it, but I did it. And it got me in.” Jeff sat silently for a moment, really taking in your story in a way you didn’t see, before he nodded his head.
“Where have you been all my life?”
“Disney gift shop.” You responded with a smile as you pointed at the water color Stitch outline on your hip. He smiled and slid his hand up to brush his thumb across the ink, before moving his hand to a more respectful place on your leg.
“My tattoos were all decisions made by a much younger man.” He laughed as he picked up your legs a bit so he could turn toward you.
“Yay stories!” He laughed again and nodded as he situated your legs on his lap again. He went one by one, showing you all five of his tattoos, and giving you an insight you had to assume not many people saw of the millionaire. You were absolutely enthralled with this man, and the more you listened, the more you wanted to know. And the more you got to know him, the more you wondered how it was possible that this man was single.
“Hey, Jeff.” You breathed as you used your and his legs to scoot closer to him. “How come… well… how come you’re a Sugar Daddy?”
“That’s…” He started as he looked out at the star splattered sky and the open ocean in front of the bow of the boat. “That’s a story for another day.”
“OK.” You whispered softly with a nod as you turned on the bench so you were right next to him and laid your head on his shoulder. “I have time to wait.” You felt him nod his head as he kissed the top of yours, before he rested his cheek on your head and looked back out at the stars.
“You are too good for me, sweetheart.”
“No, I’m not.” You giggled as you snuggled into his side. “I’m apparently just as fucked up as you are.” He huffed and nodded his head again as you both pointed to a shooting star at the same time.
“No, sweetheart. You are perfect.”
——
You had no idea where time went those next two weeks. Between the ten different ports in three different countries, and trying to learn as much as you could about the cruise experience as a whole so Jeff knew his company was exceeding his expectations of his company. Even though you knew he had work to do, you still couldn’t help yourself but be a flirtatious distraction just to see the smile that you could tell felt foreign to him.
“What, do you think you’re permanently stealing my shirt?” Jeff asked as he came out of the bathroom with a towel in his hands, barely covering himself up to tease you. You did a double take as you put your freshly cleaned clothes in one of the three harder side suitcases you bought before the trip. You glanced down at the shirt you had stolen from his part of the closet on the first or second night, and nodded your head.
“This is now mine.” You said with a smile as you dropped your jewelry bag on top of the first full suitcase and closed the top. “I’d just give up on thinking you’re getting it back… hey…” He hummed and looked up at you with his eyebrow raised as he stopped drying off his hair, and you tilted your head to the side like a lost puppy. “What’s wrong?”
“We need to talk.” Your stomach dropped to your toes as you nodded your head in total understanding.
“OK.” You whispered with a tight smile. “It’s OK, I understand. You… you don’t have to fly me back private.”
“Wait, what?” He asked as he threw the towel around his waist on his way over to where you were standing. “(Y/N), I’m not sending you home, baby girl. I’m trying to tell you that… we may need to renegotiate our arrangement.” You looked over at him as a single tear fell on each cheek. “No, don’t cry. You’re staying with me.”
“Why would you say it like that then, jerk?” You asked as he pulled you into a hug.
“Because I’m not good with the sappy shit.” He chuckled as he kissed the top of your head.
“So rude.” You said with a huffed laugh as you pushed him away. “Go away. I don’t like you right now.”
“Well I guess I’m going to have to send you home after all then.” You rolled your eyes at him and went back to packing your bags as he grabbed the pair of boxers he had left out when he packed while you showered. He hesitated a moment as he watched you set the outfit you were planning on wearing into London aside, and met your eyes when you looked up at him to continue. “My wife left me for another man.” You nodded your head and put down the pile of bras in your hand to walk around the bed to where he was standing.
“I know, honey. Dana told me.”
“Did she tell you I was to old to find another girlfriend?” He asked as he gently wrapped his hands around your upper arms and sat you down on the bed. “Because I am.”
“No.” You huffed as you used your legs to pull him a step closer to you. “No, you are not.”
“Yea, I am.” He sighed as he looked down away from you. “And I travel to much and work to hard…” You interrupted his thoughts before he could even get started by gently placing your fingertip on his chin and adding pressure until he looked at you again.
“Did you know that I’m worthless?” You asked him, honestly. “That I’m not worth anyone’s love. Because my last foster mother told me that every day before I aged out. Did you know that’s why I’m still single? Because just like you, I’ve been waiting for someone to show me that the wait we’ve both had to do was worth it.”
“You’re not worthless…”
“And you’re not old.” You countered as you ran your fingers through his wet curls. “And no, you don’t have to pay me to want to be here with you. You didn’t have to pay me to want to spend time with you at all…”
“I’m…” He started as he looked away again, but he leaned down enough to drop his forehead on yours.
“It’s OK to be scared.” You whispered as you closed your eyes and put your other hand on the back of his neck. “I’m scared that I will never be good enough for you no matter how expensive the clothes you put me in are. After all, I am an orphaned college drop out…”
“No you’re not. I’m the millionaire that is way to old to date anymore…”
“Alright, you’re wrong too, so if the point that you’re trying to make here is you want me to keep traveling with you, I can honestly say that you are never getting any work done again.” He smiled broadly and picked his head up enough to look at you and nodded.
“I think I’ll be OK with that.” Your smile grew with his as he closed the distance between the two of you and captured your lips with his. He pulled back quicker than you would have liked for your first kiss, and your smile turned into a pout as he adjusted his boxers. “What? I have work.”
“The fuck you do!” You laughed as you grabbed his wrist and pulled him back over to you. “You can’t kiss me like that and just walk away.”
“Oh, I’ll do whatever I want to, sweetheart.” He teased as he pushed you down on the bed between your suitcases and clothes. “I’m in charge.”
“No, you think you’re in charge.” You countered as you wrapped your arms and legs around him. “But in reality, I’m the one in charge here.” He hummed and kissed you again with a small nod.
“OK.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Hello?”
“Dana!” You said with way to much enthusiasm for 7:30 in the morning as you wandered around the Royal Suite of the Ritz Carlton you were staying in for the next few days while Jeff took care of some business he had. “Good, you’re awake. I’m stealing Jeff from you because no one else is allowed to have him ever again.”
“(Y/N)?” She asked hesitantly as she probably looked at her phone. “Where are you? Aren’t you supposed to be on a plane?”
“Well no, not any more. Oh, but you will never guess where I am!”
“You’re interrupting my Bachelor binge so it better be good…”
“I’m in Abu Dhabi.” You finished quickly as you sat down on the chaste lounge chair in the bathroom. “But I don’t wanna talk about that, I wanna talk about Jeff.”
“Of course you do.” She laughed as you turned the chair toward the window where you wanted it to look at the beautiful pool and beach below you.
“OK, one. You said he owned a couple hotels, not that he was the CEO of the freaking Marriott.”
“Didn’t know…”
“Second, and much more importantly, how the hell did his ex wife tell him he was to old to love?”
“She what?”
“Yea, broke his poor heart. My guess is that’s the only reason that he’s been coming to see you. To just pay to have someone not break his heart like that again. D, this man is God’s honest one of the sweetest men I’ve ever met. And funny! Oh, so funny! He had me nearly pissing myself at dinner every night on the cruise. I’ve had more fun in the last two weeks than that time we went to Coney Island and got wasted. You remember that night?”
“Of course I do…”
“And that’s saying something.” You continued over her to get your point out. “And whats more, I was concerned I’d only see the money… I don’t even care! Honestly, I just want to keep spending time with him. Shit, I’d never buy another nice thing in the world if it meant I got to spend more time with him. Dana… Dana this man is perfect. Like he’s a sculpted from the Gods, sweet as homegrown pie, loving, caring, compassionate, selfless piece of sexy as fuck hunk-a man.” Your best friend laughed at your description as you scooted down on the chair a bit more with a smile. “Thank you, Dana.”
“You’re welcome, (Y/N).”
“Guess you’re on your own going to the Bachelor mansion now.” You laughed as you crossed your legs and bounced your foot in the air. “I’ll let you borrow my dresses if you want so you don’t break the bank. OH! And I have my rent. I don’t know when we’re coming back because Jeff has a meeting here today and one in… I think Australia on Thursday, and I think he’s gotta stay in Australia for a bit, but I’m not sure. He told me when he was getting ready for the gym but I was half asleep and drooling. But he put some money in my bank account so I could make sure you weren’t late on bills until I figure out work again…”
“You don’t have to work if you don’t want to.” Jeff said softly as he walked into the bathroom, drenched in sweat from his morning workout. “Hi beautiful. Hi Dana.”
“I’ll Venmo you money later Dana, and Jeff says hi. Gotta shower and go drool some more. Call you from Australia!”
“Bye Jeff. Bye (Y/N). Have fun you traitorous bitch… leaving me in the single world…” With a smile, you said bye once more and hung up the phone to jump in the shower before breakfast.
“So I’m a… hunk-a man?”
“Hell yea you are!” You laughed as you dropped your phone on the lounge chair and reached for his shirt. “You are a bad eavesdropper.”
“Yea, well you were talking pretty loud.” He laughed as he pulled the tie of your robe free and grabbed your waist to pull you closer.
“I’m always loud.” You giggled as you pushed his shorts and boxers down as he walked you backwards across the room to the shower.
“Oh, I fucking know it.” He muttered as you wrapped your hand around his length. He kissed you softly and shook his head as he pulled his hips backs and turned on the water. “Sorry, baby girl. I have a lot of phone calls to make and work to catch up on from being away for two weeks before my meeting.”
“OK.” You said with only a slightly disappointed pout.
“But I know there’s a lot to see around here…”
“Do you care if I go see?” You asked as you stepped under the water and got your hair wet. “I just…. umm… well just in case I can’t come back?”
“(Y/N)…” He said softly as he gently pinched your chin and pulled it down so you would look at him. “Absolutely. I totally understand. Don’t ever feel guilty about experiencing the world if I’m working. As long as we’re together, you can spend whatever money you want, and go and do whatever you want in the cities we’re in. I don’t ever expect you to just sit in the hotel because I have to, OK?”
“OK.” You whispered with a nod of your head. He smirked at you and gave you a chaste kiss before stepping back to wash his body.
“Just give it some time, sweetheart. It’s gunna take some time to get used to my lifestyle, but we’ll get there. Find a routine, that’s the easiest way to do it.” You nodded your head and took the shampoo suds from your hair to wash his as well so you could wrap your arms around his neck.
“You really are too good for me, Jeffrey. Seriously.”
“Nope. That would be you.”
——
Coming back home after a month being away was a bit of a shell shocking experience. Your bedroom seemed way to tiny and was still covered in empty shopping bags and ripped off tags. You didn’t have an issue with the room and your apartment itself, it’s just that you had gotten used to Jeff being around, and it seemed so empty without him.
“You can just set them on the bed.” You sighed as you gestured to the queen sized bed in the corner.
“Bitch, I’m not your maid.” Dana laughed as she dropped the suitcases she helped you carry up on the floor. “You got it.”
“Dana!” You whined as you dropped shopping bags, and the other suitcase on your bed. “I can’t even!”
“Oh, you’ll be fine!” She called out as she headed a few feet down the hall to the kitchen to grab a trash bag. “Come on, let’s get this shit cleaned up so we can find room in that closet of yours for all this fancy shit you got now.”
“I brought you presents.” You said as you started grabbing tags off the bed and shoving them in the trash bag with the shopping bags she was picking up and throwing out. “I grabbed you something from every country I was in.”
“You don’t have to do that, hun.” She laughed as she set aside the tissue paper from the bags, and the shoe boxes to reuse for Christmas and birthday gifts and storage boxes to replace the old ones in her, your, and the hall closets.
“Yea, but I couldn’t help it.” You said as you threw out the last of the tags and grabbed the other suitcases. “There’s a lot of stuff that just screamed ‘you’ so I just had to get it. And it’s for me, too so it all works out in the end.”
“Alright, fine. What is it?” She asked with a laugh as you started digging through the bags.
“OK, we have this from London.” You said as you pulled out and handed her a boxed union jack coffee mug to add to her collection of random coffee mugs. “And this necklace is from Scotland.” You handed her the next small box and turned the slightest bit to point at the box. “It’s made from a Scottish plant and all the necklaces are one of a kind. There’s a little history card in there so you can read about it. And then of course, from Ireland…” You paused for a moment with a giant smirk as you pulled out a large bottle of Irish Whisky. “Shocker. I also grabbed two Avoca throws for the living room for our beds or something from Irelands oldest weaving mill, and a cute coffee table book. I got one from Australia, too.”
“So you went a little crazy.” She laughed as she looked at the two blankets you had set down.
“And then I got this for the dining room from Abu Dhabi. It’s a Turkish lamp but it looks so cool.”
“Oh wow!” She said as you pulled out the three orb hanging lamp from it’s box.
“And I had to get some pashmina’s…”
“Oh so perfect!” She said as you laid out the half dozen scarfs in various colors and patterns on the bed for her to see.
“I figured we could share them so we both have six colors to choose from, and if we like a certain color or pattern more, I can pick another one up if I go back to Abu Dhabi or Dubai or something. And I grabbed a bag of the coffee they had at the hotel because it was AMAZING, and some spices to cook with. I had a lot of time to spend money in Abu Dhabi.” You laughed as you added the empty bag to the trash bag on the floor. “And lastly, Australia; another place I had way to much time to shop in. I grabbed some opals to add to your crystal collection, I got myself a new pair of Ugg boots, some Vegemite because I actually liked it, surprisingly. I don’t know, I’m weird. And then some chocolate, more coffee, some tea, and oh, this awesome bottle of wine we had at dinner.”
“Woman! How much damn money did you spend?!”
“And the last two things…” You said as you pulled out two different stuffed animals held the kangaroo out to her. “I asked Jeff if it was OK, and I adopted a kangaroo in your name and a koala in mine. I got to meet them both, and I have pictures so you can see them too. But they are so cute so I had to adopt them. And you’ll get sent pictures every year to see their rehabilitation and release into the wild. Oh, and I ordered a didgeridoo to put up on my wall that should be in in a few weeks because it was too big to fly so I had to ship it.”
“This new too?” She asked as she hit the Pandora bracelet on your wrist.
“That was Jeff’s idea. So I can remember all the places he’s taken me.”
“You two are so disgusting.” She laughed as she started collecting her presents from the bed to bring them to her room so she could also grab a bottle of wine and help you unpack to hear all the stories she knew you had. “I got the wine and the extra hangers.”
“I’ll start a playlist.” You said as you put your koala stuffed animal on your pillow and pulled out the rest of your souvenirs to put away. You started with your closet and pulled out all of you old work clothes, to pack away in a tote under your bed for future use just in case. Hangers got piled up on the bed and wine got poured as stories started to flow. Dana worked on hanging up your new shirts, and skirts, and made room for shorts and pants on the shelves and in your dresser, while you hung up all of your dresses in your overflow wardrobe, before cleaning out your old makeup and replacing it with the new stuff. Bathing suits went in the box under your bed with your old ones, lingerie went into your dresser, and shoes and purses went in any space you had left, since your bedroom was pretty small and already full of stuff you had collected over the years. But even though it took you two hours to reorganize and put away, you still hadn’t run out of stories and you decided to give Dana a break because of the exhausted look on her face.
“OK, I’m done.” You laughed as you stacked up your suitcases at the foot of your bed to put out in the hall closet eventually.
“Sorry, sweetie. I just had a new client hit one of my girls last night so I was dealing with the cops half the night and this wine isn’t helping.”
“D, oh my God, why didn’t you interrupt me? Girl, go sit down! I could have unpacked by myself! I’ll order a pie for dinner and find something on Netflix to zone out to.”
“God, you have no fucking idea how good that sounds right now.” She laughed as she headed out of the room. With a nod, you grabbed your cell from the Hermès bag you had coveted of the woman in the Subway, and followed your roommate out to the living room to just veg and hang out until you both passed out on the couch in positions that was sure to make your back hurt the next day.
——
Pounding on your door woke you up way to early, and being the closer one, you threw off your slightly tangled blanket and trudged to the door from the couch. You looked up at your handsome visitor through sleep fogged eyes, and shook your head.
“No.”
“Sweetheart where have you been?” Jeff asked as he pulled you into a hug. “We were supposed to meet at the gym 45 minutes ago and your phone is going straight to voicemail...”
“I’m trying to fucking sleep!” Dana screamed from the living room as she got off the couch and headed into her room.
“Sleep time, baby.” You sighed as you grabbed his hand and pulled him into your apartment tiredly. “Sleep.”
“I can’t, I have shit to do today.”
“No, sleep time.” You repeated as you locked the door behind him and dragged him a few feet down the hallway to your bedroom. Your clothes from the night before hit the floor and you were too tired to even look back at him as you pulled back the blankets and climbed into bed against the wall in just your cotton thong. “Sleep with me.”
“Fine.” He muttered as he stripped down to his boxers and got into bed in front of you. “But only for an hour...”
“Shhh!” You hissed as you snuggled into his chest and almost instantly fell back asleep. One hour turned into almost five, which is when Jeff got tired of watching you sleep and decided it was time to wake you up. He very gently kissed your forehead and slowly rubbed your back, before his lips moved to your temple and down to your cheek.
“Supposed to be sleeping.” You grumbled when he kissed your nose.
“It’s almost eleven, baby. And I’m getting hungry.”
“There’s leftover sushi in the fridge.” You muttered as you pulled the blankets up over your head. “And some of a teriyaki bowl. Fried rice… but the spring roll is Dana’s.”
“OK, but I want to see your beautiful face with me…” You started when Dana threw your bedroom door open, and you sat up as she held her phone out.
“Chelsea got tickets to Burning Man.”
“She what?!” You asked as you scrambled over Jeff to get to the phone.
“I grabbed six.” One of your closest friends said on speaker as you took the phone from your roommate and grabbed Jeff’s gym shirt off the floor.
“That’s mine.” He said, which made you simply swipe your hand in his direction.
“How did you get six tickets?”
“Sold a townhouse on the Upper East so I jumped when I got that check this morning.”
“So what, six tickets, one vehicle pass?” Dana asked as she leaned on your door frame and bent down to scratch her leg.
“Yea.”
“So what, the three of us and who?”
“I figured asking Kara and Mac…”
“They broke up last week.” Dana said as she looked up at you with a shrug. “Mac cheated.”
“She did not!” You gasped over Chelsea in shock. Dana nodded her head and took a step back so Jeff could scoot past to go to the bathroom.
“OK, so just Kara.” Chelsea said as you gestured down the hall to the living room. “And I was thinking Mickey.”
“OK, I love Mickey, but I would kill him after three days.” Dana laughed.
“What about Steph?”
“I would kill her after two days.”
“OK well first, let’s ask this. Do we wanna make it a girls trip? Because (Y/N) has a new beau.”
“Ooo! Is this the cruise guy? I heard he’s stupid cute.”
“He is.” You laughed as you set the phone down on the coffee table and went into the kitchen to grab a pen and paper.
“I mean you said he’s older though? Like how old are we talking?”
“I’m 45.” Jeff called out as he headed into the kitchen to start making coffee. “Not that old. Coffee?”
“Oh! Didn’t realize he was there, sorry.” You called out that she was fine as you grabbed coffee mugs, and the container of coffee grounds for Jeff before heading back to discuss your plans.
“Keep a ticket on hold for right now for him.” You said as you sat down on the couch beside Dana and tucked your knees up to your chest. “I’ll get back to you in a couple days on that. And the last ticket has to go to Kenzie. She’s been trying to get us all to go with her for years and she’d be ideal on the prep front on what we actually need to bring.”
“Oh, yea I like Kenzie.” Chelsea said, excitedly. “I approve.”
“OK, so we have a line up. The three of us, Kenzie, Kara, and possibly Jeff. And if not Jeff, we can see if Matt wants to go.”
“Oh, he’s fabulous.” Dana agreed. “Alright, Chelsea, get your laptop. Let’s get a Zoom call going so we can start working out details. I’ll send you the room number in a minute.” She said OK and hung up the phone just as Jeff was coming out with three cups of coffee.
“So what is Burning Man?”
“It is a life changing experience.” Dana stated as she started a new group text chat for the Burning Man group. “It’s a week long event…”
“Not to be confused with a festival.” You interrupted as you started the list of what you would need to make this trip happen.
“Not a festival, but it is at the same time. It’s put on by artists, and musicians, and free spirits dedicated to self-expression and anti-consumerism.”
“It’s supposed to be a life changing experience.” You chimed in as you looked up from your notes. “We’ve been talking about going for the past five years since Kenzie went the first time.” Jeff nodded his head as your other three closet friend’s voices floated out of the speakers, but his next statement made everyone fall into stunned silence.
“I’ll tag along if you don’t mind it. Sounds like an interesting experience even for someone at my age. I’ll cover the costs, too so you all don’t have to worry about that and just enjoy the experience.”
“Wait, what?” Chelsea asked as Dana turned her laptop so the girls could see the three people in your living room.
“Who is that?”
“Is that the guy?”
“That’s the guy.”
“Guys, he’s right here.” You laughed as you waved your paper at the group. “Do we wanna plan this shit or what?”
“OK! OK! We’re planning!” Kenzie laughed as she got up to grab something on her end. “Now, I usually stay in a tent, but it’s usually just me and Stacy…”
“Oh, Stacy! We forgot Stacy!” Dana whined.
“I’ll cover her ticket.” Jeff said with a small nod as he sat back in his chair with his coffee. “And all of yours too.”
“What?” “No way!” “You don’t have to do that.” “Yo, I’m broke! Shut up!”
“You’re gunna give them all heart attacks.” You laughed.
“I’m not sleeping in a tent, either.” He said more to you with a shake of his head. “You want to be the one to look into an RV or should I have my assistant do it?”
“Oh, I know there’s a place out there we can rent from…” Kenzie tried but you shook your head as you added the RV to your list.
“No, he means he’s gunna buy one.” You said with a glance up at your friends. “Can we stop focusing on Jeff and focus on Burning Man, please?”
“Yes, Burning Man.” Dana said for you as she clapped her hands. “So, Kenzie. What do we need to know?”
“Who’s…”
“I’ve got the list started already.” You said over Chelsea as you waved the paper around.
“OK, Burning man is a fucking beast.” Kenzie said as she sat down on her couch with a meticulously organized fire red binder in typical Kenzie fashion. “It is not a foot race, it is a fucking marathon. You all need to be prepared. So let’s get started with my prep list…”
Her feet screamed in pain as she walked into the cave, each step growing more tiresome than the last.
It was a long night, going from 9 to 5 in the morning. The sun hadn’t rose from the sky yet, not for another hour or more. The first 3 hours was nothing but sit and wait, the cold November air shaking to her core as she sat and prayed that they would just hurry along.
At midnight was when they finally came, her patients slim to none due to the freezing temperature.
She managed to get the information and take out majority of the men with little bloodshed.
The next 6 hours was spent delivering the information to her fathers bunker, where he sadly wasn’t there to meet her. Also managing to stop 3 robberies, 2 hit and runs, and stopping an elderly man from being jumped.
The night had been fairly uneventful, that was until her bike halted mid way to the manor. She swore up and down for half an hour as she walked her bike back to the manor, through the storm that conveniently hit when she started walking back.
A groan leaves her as she peels her suit from her body, her muscles sore from having walked from the middle of the city back home.
A hiss breaks the silence as she feels a sharp pain in her right shoulder blade. Feeling behind her and wincing when she felt the small drop of blood.
Her scars had almost completely heeled over the years, no longer open wounds that would always scream out in pain. But once in a while, when she might have swong her arms wrong, some of the deeper scars would slightly open up.
It was nothing major, nothing that required stitches or immediate care. Just a clean and a bandage
A tear slips past her eye when she saw where it was, the largest j scar on her shoulder was slightly dripping, reminding her of the first time she saw them.
A gasp leaves her as she looks in the mirror in horror, sobs wrecking through her as she fell to her knees. Raw skin and stitches barley healing covered her shoulders, some of the skin being completely gone and looking like chunks were missing. The skin was red, some lighter and darker as blood dries along all the wounds.
She knew it was bad, the excruciating pain that she constantly felt a clear sighn that it was going to be large. But nothing could prepare for the mangled skin of her back that once was scar free.
Her heart throbbed in pain as she yells out in anguish. Her sobs breaking as she passes out on the dirty bathroom floor.
She wipes away her tear as she grabs for the alcohol, sucking in a deep breath before squirting the liquid on the cut.
A hiss breaks out as the burning consumes her shoulder, trying to steady her breath. Once the pain subsided, she patted the skin dry and applied the large bandage to the cut, finally turning away from the mirror and walking back to her room.
The sharp air hit her skin almost immediately, sending a wave of goosebumps to erupt from her skin.
It was snowing, quite lightly in fact. The ground barley had a layer of the fine white snowflakes over it, like a sheet covering a bed.
Her feet walked along the ground, watching each step as to not slip. Looking around the vast garden as the small flakes made a beautiful picture. This is what she wished winter could be. But alas, it would only be a matter of weeks before a thick layer of snow blanketed every inch of the beautiful garden. Rendering it near impossible to venture out past the lines of the old manor.
She walked out past the large tree, over past the small patch of plain grass to, a walkway?
She had never seen this before, a path through the thick forest.
She walked into it, seeing the footprints in the almost frozen dirt. She bent down to look, noticing the size difference between hers and the prints.
The wide space between each prints indicates running, and the almost perfectly pristine prints showed it was from today. But who would be out running today? Then she remembered.
She watched as he walked by her open door, a plain under armour shirt with tight sports shorts. He didn’t glance once at her, his permanent furrowed brow on his blank face.
But why would he be running this morning? He hadn’t gone in weeks, preferring to exorcise in the cave as of late.
She decided to stop it and continue walking, ignoring the prints as best as she could.
She came to a stop when she spotted it, no more than a hundred feet in front of her was a pond. It looked almost perfect, no trash, no leaves or grass, only a few lily pads scattered around.
A laugh bubbles out of her when she sees a family of ducks in the pond. She walks up to them, careful as to not scare them. She notices one in the back who was having trouble swimming with the others, flapping its small wings around and trying to keep up. She reaches over to the little one, petting the little bird with the pads of her fingers. “Hey little guy.” She cooes, watching as the small duck shakes it’s soaking body.
She reaches out, grabbing one of the lily pads, and sets him on the pad. “There we go little guy.”
She watched as he sits on the pad as if it’s a ride, a smile on her face at the sight.
Neither one noticed each other when they walked down the hall in opposite directions. Colliding into one another, making them jump and look up, pains igniting in their chests. They just stood there like dear in headlights, both not knowing what to say. Should he say something? Should she apologize? Neither said anything as they looked away, walking back down the hall, their eyes slightly glossing.
She ran down the steps as fast she could, her heart pounding out of her chest as she nearly misses a step.
She runs through the door and barrels over to her dad, running up and latching onto him like a koala bear. He picks her up, laughs bubbling out of him as he spins her around. “I thought you said you’d be here tomorrow?” She says, muffled by his chest. “Welll, I kinda lied cause I wanted to surprise you.” He laughs, letting go of her.
They hadn’t seen one another for about a week, having trouble not only finding the time but a way to get there. Jasons motorcycle had been in the shops for a few weeks, having engine problems that even he couldn’t fix. He’d use his car, but had forgotten to get it inspected.
She hears him before she sees him, the smoothness of his voice a stark contrast to Bruce’s gruff and raspy tone.
A gasp leaves her when she sees him, the tall man in blue jeans, a red flannel and smooth jet black hair and blue eyes.
Jason looks behind him, seeing his daughters hundred yard stare. A laugh bubbles out of him when he sees she’s looking at Clark. He can’t help but find it funny, he remembers the day he met the man of steel for the first time, mirroring the same look as her.
“Robin, meet Superman.” Bruce says to the young boy, a smile on his usually cold face. Jasons heart drops in his stomach when he sees him, nearly at his waist.
Clark bends down to the young boy, a fond smile on his face. “Hi Robin.” He says, extending his hand. Jason shakily resigns the favor, feeling the impressive grip from the kryptonian. “H-hi Superman.” He shakily says back. A chuckle leaving from the man at his shyness.
He smiles at the fond memory, looking back at her and seeing she has the same look as before. “Wanna go meet him?” Her head whips to her father at his question. Eyes wide like a deer in headlights. “Are you kidding? That’s Superman!” She whispers. A large laugh leaving him at her statement. He lightly grabs hold of her shoulder, slowly walking her over to him. “He’s not as scary as you’d think. I was exactly like this when I met him.”
Her heart beats so loudly she is sure he can hear it even without his heightened senses. An awestruck look on her face when she gets closer. Jason walks behind her, a hand still softly planted on her shoulder.
Clarks head turns when they both walk up, a large smile on his face when he recognizes Jason. “Well if it isn’t Jason Todd.” He says, pulling the now grown up man into a hug. “Nice to see you too Clark.”
Both men pull apart and look down at her, Jason having trouble keeping a chuckle in at her face. Her eyes wide and mouth slightly agape. “And this must be that daughter of yours.” Clark chuckles, making her face erupt in red. “Nice to meet you, I’m Clark.” He says, extending his hand to her, like he did to her father all those years ago. “Y-you’re Superman.” She stammers. Making all three of the men laugh. She doesn’t even acknowledge his hand as she stares at him. “That I am.” He chuckles, finding her look of pure awe Endearing. “I-I remember seeing you fly once when I was 4. My parents said it was a fever dream.” She says, making each of the men laugh so hard they held their stomachs.
“What do you do if you’re in the middle of flying and you have to pee? Like I’m talking no holding it you gotta pee NOW?” She asks, making him laugh. “You know, I’ve been asked many questions over the years. But none like that.” “Well it’s a genuine question that I’ve had for years now. I mean it must happen at least once in your life?” He can’t help the laugh leaving him. “Alright fine, once in a while it does. And what I’ll do is find the nearest body of water, and apologize to Arthur.” He chuckles.
“What does it look like up there? Does everyone look small like ants?” She asks, face resting in her pals as she lays on the couch in her stomach. “It’s, hard to describe. And you haven’t been up in the sky before to know?” He asks, “I mean, I’ve been on top of buildings before so kind of?” She replies. “Wait so you’ve never been in the air before? Even gliding with a cape?” She sighs at his question, looking down at her hands. “I don’t have the same gear as Bruce or the robins. The closest I’ve come to is gliding with a grappling hook, but I’m more so looking in front of me rather than below.” She replies. A smile breaking on his face at her confession. “Come on then, I’ve got something I think you’ll like.”
Both of them stand outside of the manor, watching as everyone but her father walks out. “Um, what’s going on?” Tim asks, seeing Clark wrapping his arms around her. “Taking her on a trip like I did for all you kids.” Clark replies, a smile on both their faces. He looks down at her, feeling her hands gripping onto him as hard as she can. “You’ll be safe, I’ve done this for all of them.” He whispers, calming her stammering heart slightly.
“Alright you ready?” He asks. She shakes her head yes, legs slightly shaking. “Alright on 3,2,1.” He says, before she feels her heart and stomach drop as she shoots high from the ground. She can’t help the scream that erupts from her throat as she feels the wind fly around her.
She clutched onto him with her life, tears nearly escaping from her closed eyes. She feels, weightless, but a strong force surrounding her at the same time. Her heart beating wildly in her chest as her stomach catches. Feeling the shaking of her insides as she holds on tighter.
She feels him come to a stop, the force of the wind no longer astounding her. “Hey, open your eyes.” He whispers. She finally opens her eyes and moves her face from his chest, her eyes widening. She’s right above central Gotham, high above every building in sight. She looks around in sheer wonder and awe as she takes in the sight. People below her walking look so small, it’s hard to believe that she’s the same size as they are. Buildings that shed gaze up at, now look small in comparison to the skyscrapers that she's level with.
He can’t help but let out a chuckle at her expression, reminding him of her fathers exact same expression when he was young. She might not be his, but she was surely meant to be his daughter. He watched as her pupils adjust to take in all the sights. He hears her heart calm but still aratic against her chest as the adrenaline courses through her. “Wanna see a trick?” He asks, watching as her attention is now back on him. She shakes her head yes, a gleeful childlike smile on her face.
He tucks her head back into his chest as he shouts through the sky, laughing at her scream of excitement.
“And today’s top story is this photograph taken just this morning. It appears to be a set of angel wings written in the sky. Some eyewitnesses say it was work of a plane, some even say they saw the infamous Superman. While some believe it’s a sign from God. Maybe there will be some saving grace for our city after all.”
Her and Tim let out a laugh as they watch the TV, barely able to hold the bowl of popcorn between them. She falls into his side, trying to stop her wheezing breath but to no avail. He wraps his arm around her, trying to stop himself from crying.
They hear his footsteps before they see him, watching at the open door as he glares at the two. “TT” he says, before walking away. She sighs as she gets off of Tim, rubbing her temples. “I don’t get it, why is he so pissed when I’m around you? I mean doesn’t he know?” She asks, annoyance heavily laced in her words. He looks away and sighs. “Actually, no he doesn’t know. None of them do.” He admits, hearing a gasp from her. “Tim, why haven’t you told them yet? I mean no offense but, how do they not know?” “I had a girlfriend at one point. Everyone thought we were gonna be like dick and babs, they, were all shocked when we split. And since then, I haven’t dated or even mentioned anything about it.” She puts her hand on his shoulder, making him finally look at her. “Tim, this is something they should know about you.” He scoffs as he moves her hand from his shoulder, a pain shooting through her heart. “Oh yeah and how would I even bring it up? Oh hey Damian that line you drew looks pretty straight, speaking of straight, I’m not. Oh and also I’m in love with my best friend for years. They’re all emotionally constipated. You’re the closest one here who’s actually got some emotion in you.” He says, both anger and sarcasm in his tone. He feels her hug him, wrapping his arms around her. “We’ll figure something out, but only when you’re ready.”
