*sigh*
Let's do this again.
The most harmful and irreparable damage the MCU has ever done is definitely Wanda's characterization and how the "fandom" perceives her even when non-cb readers migrate to the 616 side.
(This is screenshot depicting a fan reacting to Russell Dauterman's redesign of Lore, an evil Wanda variant who first debuted in 1993 in Scarlet Witch #1. She will return in the new Scarlet Witch series this year)
In addition to all the "she's always been white" constant, toxic and racist comments, which only reinforces their lack of ability to recognize issues such as colorism, Rromani representation (when they actually know the difference between Rromani and Romanian, that is) and straight-up whitewashing, they also fail to identify a most essential trait of her entire characterization: her desire to do good and become a symbol of heroism.
Wanda despises doing harm to others. Her first iteration is legitimately a depiction in which she and Pietro are being forced by Magneto to work for him and his brotherhood of evil mutants, all thanks to emotional manipulation. She never means to hurt the original X-Men except when Pietro is hurt and/or in danger. It's her protective side, not her "evil" side.
(Uncanny X-Men v1 #4; #11)
It's also fundamental to be aware that Wanda and Pietro come from a place where there's trauma for being abused by Magneto when it comes to their powers. This is why they are hesitant to join the Avengers, and yet their sense of responsibility is stronger.
(Avengers v1 #16)
Now, when it comes to Chthon, it's another rabbit hole of struggling with independence, power and agency. Being controlled by an evil force is as an old trope as any other in comic books. Still, I can't help but notice that her relationship with Chthon is never truly solved as other magic characters' issues, so why does it stick to Wanda the hardest?
Allow me illustrate with other examples:
1. Magik and the Darkchylde.
For those who don't know, the Darkchylde is "an evil side" of Illyana Rasputin, result of her captor and abuser's tampering with her soul.
The Darkchylde has several interpretations, from abuse to struggling with self-worth, and it has been established for decades as a side of Illyana that she despises, fears and suppresses.
(New Mutants v1 #71)
Illyana took years to make peace with her inner self and even had an arc to leave her reigning place of power in Limbo to Madelyne, another character who was villanized by the narrative for the very same reasons. Which begs the question.... why would a fan root for the Darkchylde to be her standard self when this is precisely what she hates the most? When it's precisely what causes her pain and leads her to a process of isolation and unhealthy behavior?
2. Doctor Strange and dark magic
Throughout sixty years of stories, there are a few moments in which the Sorcerer Supreme is faced with the old dilemma if he should use dark magic or not. And yet, from everything he went through, even in his darkest moments, he still chooses to do good. This is an intrinsic part of him. Yes, we've seen alternate evil iterations, but the main version is still a recognized, praised character for all the good deeds he performs on a daily basis.
(New Avengers v3 Annual #1)
3. Loki against fate
(Immortal Thor #2)
Loki's most recent and important journey throughout the years is precisely changing their fate, from the god of mischief and lies to the god of stories. They know they also have antagonistic roles to play as such, and yet they look forward to building a better relationship with Thor and the Asgardians. They're as complex as they come, but never back to their first and oldest iteration.
--
There are others, of course, like Nico Minoru and the Staff of One, Daimon Hellstrom and his will to deny his father's desires etc etc. I can even point a famous non-magical one: THE HULK. Yep, the guy who has spent his entire existence struggling with said dichotomy.
So you see, this is not a situation where "women can't be villains, god forbid women do anything" like some of them love to claim. You have Amora, Morgan Le Fey, Umar, even Lore now. The fact is, the MCU pushed the main version of its Wanda to be an irremediable character. Fans may or not defend her actions, but the truth is, they went too far for a role of opposition/antagonism justified by mental issues, which is yet another problematic, hellish rabbit role that we discussed so many times, over and over and over.
House of M is by itself such a harmful event in Wanda's entire characterization that, even now in the 616 universe, she still struggles to be (re)accepted by the hero community. She's still demonized by mutants, she's still depicted as mentally unstable.
(X-Men #7 - 2019)
Meanwhile, few writers are doing their hardest to give her some independence and agency (praised be Orlando and McKay). She has finally showcased her resolve to deal with Chthon by absorbing the Darkhold. She finally built a place to help people in a small community. She's an avenger yet again.
(Darkhold: Omega #1)
However, despite all that, she's still being patronized and lectured on (for instance, Agatha trying to take the Darkhold from her).
(Scarlet Witch v3 Annual #1)
The fact that she hasn't given up on the role of super hero only showcases how fundamental, intrinsic, unshakeable is her desire to do good. The fact that she's a nexus being and that the Scarlet Witch is a role passed down through generations are enough reasons to reiterate how important she is as a defender of the universe, same importance we often see in the role of the Sorcerer Supreme.
No fan has ever advocated for readers to be feared by a Sorcerer Supreme. Those are roles of heroes.
So yeah, "evil mother" and "serving cunt" will not do it for me. Because being evil means embracing everything Wanda hates the most and fights the hardest. So you come here and tell me that Wanda was supposed to be evil incarnate, to the point of comparing her to Voldemort, is plainly offensive and shows how little you understand her. You have other mothers to kneel to if you so desperately need one. Wanda is not one of them. Leave her alone.
TL;DR: Saying Wanda should be evil is stupid and harmful.
#scarlet witch#wanda maximoff#pietro maximoff#quicksilver#anti-mcu#the most illiterate fandom is the cbm and cb fandom i swear

Kate Bishop Reading List
Long ago I made myself a (roughly chronological) list of Kate Bishop comics, and I recently updated it and figured I might as well share. There are some fairly minor appearances included; just know I cut out SO MANY MORE.
Also, I don't care how minor the appearance is, if Deadpool and Kate are in the same issue then I'm including it.
YOUNG AVENGERS ERA
NOTES: This is the most streamlined segment, because I've read these through enough that I more or less remember which appearances have substance and which are just Kate's nostril on page 16.
-Young Avengers vol 1 #1-8
-Young Avengers Special (one-shot)
-Young Avengers vol 1 #9-12
-Civil War 1 #1-2
-Civil War: Runaways/Young Avengers #1-4
-Civil War 1 #3-7
-Winter Soldier: Winter Kills (one-shot)
-Captain America vol 5 #26
-Civil War Fallen Son: Death of Captain America #2-3 & #5
-Young Avengers Presents #1-6
-Secret Invasion: Runaways/Young Avengers #1-3
-Dark Reign: Young Avengers #1-4
-Nomad #4 (set during Civil War)
-Siege Young Avengers (one-shot)
-I Am An Avenger #1 & #5
-Avengers: Children's Crusade #1-4
-Avengers: Children's Crusade Young Avengers #1
-Avengers: Children's Crusade #5-9
HAWKEYE DUO/YA2 ERA
NOTES: I once tried to work out the exact timeline for Hawkeye v4 and YA v2; I've broken things up according to that timeline. YMMV on accuracy and you certainly don't have to read in that order. I in no way tried to integrate HvD or anything listed after that into a coherent timeline. Also I don't entirely remember how large of a role Kate plays in the Patsy Walker/Ant-Man issues, sorry.
-Hawkeye vol 4 #1-5, #7, #6 & #17
-Young Avengers vol 2 #1-15
-Hawkeye vol 4 #8-9; #10-13 are concurrent
-Hawkeye Annual (one-shot)
-Hawkeye vol 4 #14, #16, #15, #18-22
-Hawkeye vs Deadpool #1-4
-All-New Hawkeye vol 1 #1-5
-Gwenpool Special #1
-Astonishing Ant-Man vol 1 #1
-All-New Hawkeye vol 2 #1-6
-Patsy Walker v1 #2
-Old Man Logan v2 #2-4
-Astonishing Ant-Man vol 1 #6
-Civil War 2: Choosing Sides #2-3
-Uncanny Avengers vol 3 #13
-Civil War 2 #4-6
-Year of Marvels: October Infinite Comic (one-shot)
-Spider-Man/Deadpool vol 1 #12
KATE BISHOP SOLO/WCA ERA
NOTES: Gonna be honest, I never really tried to make a timeline for the concurrent pubs during this time, so...whatever. And, uh, I don't honestly remember how much of a role she plays in the Wasp stuff, so I included those to be safe. She's basically just in flashbacks during the Empyre stuff (Aftermath excluded) but I've included because...Young Avengers love each other okay.
-Hawkeye vol 5 #1-16
-Unbelievable Gwenpool vol 1 #14-15
-America vol 1 #1, #5-6
-Generations: Hawkeye & Hawkeye
-Despicable Deadpool #299
-West Coast Avengers vol 3 #1-10
-Season's Beating (one-shot)
-Unstoppable Wasp v2 #7
-War of the Realms: Journey Into Mystery #1-5
-Fearless vol 1 #1 (she's BARELY in this but...funky chibi Kate, yk)
-Avengers vol 8 #22
-Death's Head vol 2 #2-4
-Gwenpool Strikes Back vol 1 #3-5
-Empyre vol 1 #4-5
-Empyre Aftermath Avengers (one-shot)
-America Chavez: Made in the USA #1-2, 5
THE (MOSTLY) UNREAD ERA
NOTES: Aside from the H:KB solo, this is basically my to-read list, so it's entirely possible some of these appearances are extremely underwhelming. I did try to cut out anything that seemed SUPER light on Kate content, but that also means I might've cut some comics where she has more of a presence as well.
-Black Widow vol 8 #10
-It's Jeff Infinity Comic #1, #6-7, #9-12, #14, #18, #22, #25, #28
-Lucky the Pizza Dog Infinity Comic (one-shot)
-Hawkeye: Kate Bishop vol 1 #1-5
-Alligator Loki Infinity Comic vol 1 #13, #15
-Marvel Meow and Pizza Dog Infinity Comic #1-4
-Women of Marvel vol 4 #1
-Avengers: War Across Time vol 1 #5
-Captain Marvel vol 10 #50
-Marvel's Voices: Pride vol 3 #1
-Avengers Unlimited Infinity Comic vol 1 #58-59
-Extreme Venomverse vol 1 #5
-Women of Marvel vol 5 #1
-Infinity Paws Infinity Comic #1, #10
-Avengers vol 9 #14-16
-Marvel Mutts Infinity Comic vol 1 #11
-Blood Hunters vol 1 #2
-Venom War: It's Jeff (oneshot)
SOME ALTERNATE UNIVERSE KATES
NOTES: Only really including the ones I've read or that are on my to-read list.
-Secret Wars Journal #1 (Lady Katherine AU)
-Siege vol 2 #1-4 (Lady Katherine AU)
-Secret Wars Too (Lady Katherine AU)
-All-New Wolverine vol 1 #33-35 (Old Woman Laura timeline)
-Old Man Hawkeye vol 1 #5-12 (Old Man Hawkeye timeline)
WRAP UP
It's probably pretty obvious which comics are the most important to read (both YA runs, all the Hawkeye solos, etc) so I wanted to mention some of my favorites you might be tempted to overlook
-Winter Soldier: Winter Kills oneshot. Kate and the YA meet Bucky.
-Civil War Fallen Son: Death of Captain America #3. Clint and Kate's first meeting.
-Hawkeye vs Deadpool #1-4. I love this title so much. Kate and Clint team up with Deadpool for the first but not last time.
-Despicable Deadpool #299. That time Deadpool threatens the Hawkeyes and Kate says he wouldn't shoot her and he agrees that he wouldn't, he'd just shoot Clint twice.
And for MCU Kate fans, shoutout to Black Widow vol 8 #10 for being the only (...so far as I know) comic to place Yelena and Kate are in the same room.

Hi! I was wondering if you have any recommendations for comics where Hank & Simon make an appearance together? Also where to read them, if you have that information.
Also, I love your blog, being for the 5 people who like these characters. <3
Omg hiiiiiii! Yes, I will be more than happy to write out a reading list for you! I'll do my best to compile every notable moment or issue where they get a lot of focus, unfortunately there are large gaps in things so there's a really big tone disparity between some of these issues just because of the time that's passed between them, so I'll try to give vague synopsis' when necessary about what's been going on since their last notable interactions.
Avengers V1 #151-#153, Avengers Annual #8 is Simon's resurrection after his death in his debut appearance, and is the foundation for their relationship.
Avengers V1 #160 is just generally a really important Simon issue, and there's only really one or two moments with Hank it, but I think it provides important context to why Simon is the way he is, and how much Hank learns about Simon so early on in their relationship. Hank makes Simon a costume in #161, and it's very ugly.
Avengers V1 #164, #181, #194, #197-#198 (it is imperitive you ignore the Carol arc here. don't worry about it), #201, #203, and ending with #211 are their main stint on the Avengers together, but you can read all of the issues in between these if you so choose! These are just the ones with the more notable scenes. This is the main era of Wonderbeast, and after this Simon soon gets sucked into WCA and Hank into X-Factor and eventually the X-Men proper. There's a few random issues here and there, but we don't get a proper reunion until...
Wonder Man V2 #5-#6, post WCA, in Simon's asshole era. Hank also appears in both Annuals, and in #23-#25 where Simon goes to biblical hell, don't worry about it.
Avengers V3 #14 is their next meeting, after Simon has died in Force Works #1 and Hank grieved for him at his funeral in Tales of the Marvels: Wonder Years. Good issue!
Avengers Two: Wonder Man and the Beast
Their next major appearance together won't be until Avengers V4 Annual, which is the tail end of an arc where Simon went crazy and assembled a team of superheroes to like take down the Avengers or whatever. Don't worry about it.
A+X #12 deals with the fallout of the above. That's +, not vs.
Uncanny Avengers V3 #28
X-Force V6 #49-#50, this is in Hank's evil war crimes era, or more accurately, signals the end of it, and these issues permanently change my brain chemistry. Genuinely insane stuff. I won't spoil anything if this is your first forey but my G-d.
Bonus! Exiles V2 #1-#6 has a Hank who canonically was in a relationship with his Wonder Man, and this series was cancelled early and you can TELL they had more planned for this iteration of the characters but alas...... we will never know :(
And I think that covers all of their major appearances! I hope you have a fun time reading, and if you want me to track down some of those minor, a little more obscure appearances, let me know! :33

I am sorry if you have already gotten an ask like this, but I must admit that I am curious. Which avengers runs would you recommend as must reads? Of course, with special reference to stevetony.
So the thing is that there are A LOT of Avengers runs. We are currently on volume 9 of Avengers, and that numbering doesn't even include things like New Avengers, Mighty Avengers, All-New All-Different Avengers, all of which were the main team at some point. (There are of course also a bunch of other teams; Steve is currently on the Uncanny Avengers again.)
If you're looking for Steve and Tony specifically, off the top of my head, these are the main-team volumes that have had both Steve and Tony on them: Avengers vol 1, 2 (technically), 3, New Avengers vol 1, Avengers vol 4, Avengers vol 5, Avengers vol 8. They aren't always on the team at the same time, but that's everything that might conceivably contain them both.
So. I have a lot of recs.
For about the first half of volume 1, basically everything that shows up on lists of classic Avengers stories are a good bet. You definitely at least want the first 16 issues because that's when Steve and Tony first become teammates. But, yeah, things like the Korvac Saga and the Kree/Skrull War are probably things you will want to read anyway. (The Korvac Saga is the time Steve punches Tony in the face that, weirdly, fandom doesn't talk about much.)
I know volume 1 has nearly 400 issues but you can actually knock out everything after about #230 because that's approximately when Tony leaves the team because he's drinking again (there are some issues afterwards of the Avengers, mostly Steve, expressing concern) and eventually goes to the West Coast Avengers, and he and Steve aren't main-team together until vol 3. Tony does come back for the big events, though. But, yeah, you can basically stop slightly after Steve learns Tony is Iron Man (216) if you want them as regular teammates. In terms of what you might need to know from the second half of volume 1, the big thing that shows up in Steve/Tony fic is Operation Galactic Storm, because Steve and Tony have a big ol' fight by the end of it, and eventually end up resolving everything else they've fought about in arcs like Armor Wars (you did not ask for Iron Man recs, but, you know, maybe read that). Other than that, there's not much you need to know for Steve/Tony purposes because they mostly aren't together. But if you want to read things that are good anyway, I would highly recommend Under Siege, in which the Masters of Evil invade the Mansion (and destroy the only photograph Steve has of his mother). (There is a recent follow-up issue to Under Siege -- Avengers: Loki Unleashed -- by the original writer, Roger Stern, in which Tony does show up in New York to help the team rebuild.) It's not part of Avengers, but you might also want to consider reading some of the big events. I mostly mean Infinity Gauntlet when I say this. The other events in Avengers v1 that get fic mentions are The Crossing and Onslaught, but I swear you don't have to read them.
Volume 3 is my personal favorite and I think it really hits the sweet spot of being a classic Avengers run where everyone lives in the mansion and are friends together, but with more modern art and storytelling conventions. Steve and Tony aren't on the team together for the entirety of the Busiek/Pérez run which is the first half of the volume (and in fact Steve leaves for a reason that is Not Great), and it's not the absolute shippiest volume in the world but I think it's an incredibly solid run. Like, if you want A Really Good Avengers Run, read this run. Steve and Tony are back on the team for most of the second half of the run, which includes Red Zone. You absolutely want to read Red Zone.
After this, Marvel mostly starts new volumes when the creative team changes, which makes them slightly easier to keep track of, except then there's about five years where there isn't a comic called "Avengers," which is more confusing again, so there's really no winning here. Anyway, after vol. 3, we get Avengers Disassembled (which you probably should read just because you should know what happens) and the mansion explodes and everyone moves into the tower and we get New Avengers.
The first half of New Avengers vol. 1 -- which is the beginning of Bendis' Avengers run -- is what a lot of Steve/Tony fans (including me) imprinted really hard on. There are about twenty issues of them putting a team together and being co-leaders and it's really sweet and they work amazingly well together and you will probably really like it... and then Civil War happens and everything is bad and wrong and then Steve dies and stays dead for a few years and that is, uh. Less happy. You will probably want to read all the stuff after that anyway. I have a reading order for that around here somewhere.
Eventually Steve comes back to life and Avengers Prime happens (and you should read Avengers Prime) and we get Avengers vol. 4, which is the end of Bendis' Avengers run. I actually really enjoy vol 4. It is my Underrated Fave. Steve only rejoins the team, technically, for the second half of the run (for the first half he's running the Secret Avengers, which he hates), but he's around for a lot of the first half anyway because he just can't stay away from Tony. It's an interesting Steve/Tony dynamic because Steve remembers Civil War and he's pretty depressed and pretty angry and it's kind of like "what if you couldn't stand to be in the same room with the person you loved most?" because they clearly want to be around each other but they don't really seem to remember how to be friends with each other anymore but they still have a lot of feelings about each other and the best they can manage is A LOT OF SCREAMING and they're like "is this how friendship works???" and the rest of the team is like "no???? stop screaming." Because of course they want to scream at each other about their feelings in public in front of all their friends like two people who have a normal amount of feelings about each other.
This is Avengers v4 #9. This is their teammates watching them having a screaming fight. I wasn't kidding.
And then halfway through they figure out how to be friends again and because it's their particular kind of friendship it involves, like, Steve just gently touching Tony's neck while they are having a conversation.
That is Avengers v4 #18. You'd think Steve would rather put his hand on Tony's shoulder. Like a regular friend. You would really think he would do that. That doesn't appear to be the thing Steve is doing here.
Issue 19 gives us this panel which is basically their entire relationship:
The last arc of v4, where they get Jan back, is one of my favorite Avengers arcs. It's just... the classic Avengers being Avengers, and it's a lot of fun.
So, yeah, Avengers v4 is my Underrated Fave. But also it probably helps to have read the entire rest of Bendis' Avengers run first (or at least New, Mighty, and the major events -- Civil War, Secret Invasion, Dark Reign, Siege), which is a lot to ask.
And then you get Avengers vol 5, which is Hickman's Avengers run. Reading this run is kind of an all-or-nothing thing, because it tells one story that goes through Avengers v5, New Avengers v3 (if you're wondering what happened to v2, it's just that it's a team neither Steve nor Tony were on), Infinity, and probably also Secret Wars, in a very precise order. This is about a hundred issues. (If you are deeply into Hickman's work, before this you would want to read Secret Warriors and his Fantastic Four run. Which is about the same number of issues again.) It's a big commitment.
Hickman's run was the run that was going on when I joined this fandom -- I actually got into 616 Steve/Tony the week that Avengers v5 #29 came out, which was a hell of a week to pick -- and I think honestly I liked it better when it was coming out. Hickman is a very plot-driven writer, which means that a lot of big epic stuff happens, but it also means that characters often get slotted into positions in the narrative because someone needs to do a thing and I feel like there's often not a lot of consideration about whether this particular character would do that thing. When this was the first run I was reading, I didn't have a feel for the characters and I trusted that Hickman knew them better than I did, but at this point I have read enough Avengers that I have developed Opinions (as every comics fan does at some point; comics is kind of unique as a fandom in a "build your own canon" way) and my opinions are not really the same as Hickman's. Also at the time, it hadn't ended yet, and I thought the ending was a disappointment.
However, if what you want is a big, epic, universe-changing Avengers story in which Steve and Tony are main characters and how they feel about each other is absolutely integral to the plot... well. That's what Hickman's Avengers run will get you. As a Steve/Tony shipper, it's hard to imagine there ever being another Avengers run where Steve and Tony's feelings for each other are what so much of the run hinges on. So this is that.
After that, the universe ends (don't worry, it's fine), and then there's a period of time where Steve and Tony are on different teams. Then Steve is secretly evil for a while, and then Tony is dead for a while (while Steve is secretly evil), and then we get Avengers vol 8, which is Jason Aaron's run, which recently ended. Steve and Tony were both there and neither of them were evil or dead, which was nice, and somehow this run lasted five entire years and I just thought it was... mostly okay...? Steve and Tony didn't have a lot of interaction with each other. Some of the events during this time period were pretty good, though. AXE Judgment Day was the standout for me, though I think a lot of us who like villain AUs have mined and are continuing to mine Secret Empire for some angst material. That was before Aaron's run started, though.
Currently we are on Jed MacKay's volume 9, and Steve is not on the main team, though Tony is.
So, yeah, I'd have to say that my picks are some of the classic v1 arcs, v3, at least the beginning of NA v1, v4 provided you have read everything after NA v1, and v5/NA v3 if you're into that. Hope that helps!

Fear Itself, AVX, other random stuff
Fear Itself
I have no idea what's happening in this event so let's dive into the middle of it headfirst
Fear Itself: The Worthy #3: I think this is actually a one-shot that is for some reason listed broken up into the individual stories. The part I read is just Titania's backstory.
Fear Itself: Fearsome Four #1-4: Howard the Duck (insert emoji here that represents my intense dislike for Howard the Duck)
Also he's drawn really ugly here
Me constantly getting confused between Nighthawk and Darkhawk. I was literally like "oh since Darkhawk is being edgy now he's changed his name to Nighthawk" no... that's just Nighthawk
FRANKENSTEIN!!
Wow I hate that Jen just got immediately beaten into the ground by the AU Hulk she should be able to hold her own against him at least for a little while come on now
I assume that the main event has something to do with fear and this is actually a cool tie-in showing how the big event is affecting individuals (Man-Thing) but I have absolutely no context for it so.
I actually really like how Jen overcomes the fear scenario by carrying on when she's the one hero left standing bc perseverance is a big theme for her going back to Savage She-Hulk <3
Savage She-Hulk #23
Fear Itself: The Fearless #10-12: ewww Crossbones I hate him
I have absolutely no idea how this connects to any other parts of this event that I read
idk Jen wasn't really in it, Valkyrie was cool though <3
AVX
Fun fact I think AVX was coming out when I was first getting into comics so I want you to picture little tiny baby me reading parts of this and being so unbelievably confused.
I'm still unbelievably confused.
Why is any of this necessary
New Avengers v1 #24
X-Men Legacy v1 #266-267: can they please stop manufacturing reasons for superheroes to fight each other
Uncanny X-Men v2 #12
Wolverine and the X-Men v1 #11: I like the art
Avengers v4 #28: narrated by red hulk 😐
Avengers vs. X-men #7-12: 😐
I hate events
Worth Reading
Wolverine and the X-Men v1 #17: THIS GOT ME THIS WAS FUNNY
FF v1 #11
Fantastic Four v1 #600-604
Hulk v2 #54-57: Jen and Lyra got taken out immediately in 54 and didn't come back until the end of 57 but it's still kind of fun
Girl Comics v1 #1-3: This is a fun little anthology and the creative team are all women so that's a slay, Jen isn't really in it though
Spider-Man/Fantastic Four v1 #1-4: Jen is only in the second issue but this is fun and sweet
Heroic Age: Heroes: I did not read this in full bc it's just a character guide thing but the framing of it as Captain America's files is interesting although the little story at the beginning was weird? I particularly enjoyed him calling Deadpool "undisciplined, disgusting, and not funny" and "I honestly hope this narcissistic maniac gets sucked into a black hole" so true king! tell us how you really feel!
The Iron Age #1-2: I never like Iron Man-led things but I do like time travel and this is really good actually? Jen is only in the first issue but I read #2 bc it had the F4 on the cover and it has a really well-written Johnny actually I very much enjoyed it
Not Worth Reading
Deadpool v3 #40: This wasn't worth reading but it did feature the Joker parody from Sensational She-Hulk so that's something i guess
Venom v2 #13.3-13.4: idk why these issues have decimals. anyway Jen was barely in 13.3 and not actually in 13.4 at all
Vengeance #1-6: This is bad. Jen is in it as a continuation from the Last Defenders series which was so bad I apparently didn't think it was worth mentioning in previous posts. Anyway, this is just bad.
Captain America: Hail Hydra #4: This isn't bad it's just. it did not make me want to read the other issues. Jen is also only in it as a cameo
Amazing Spider-Man v1 #692: I can't believe they let Slott write this crap for like 300 issues. Jen is only in a one panel cameo
Her-oes: this is a non-canon comic written by none other than Grace Randolph for some godforsaken reason. It's just generic teenage high school outcast story starring... Janet van Dyne? Janet is really mean to Jen, her so-called best friend, for literally no reason. it's very weird, bland, and out of character for everyone involved and also the art is ugly
If you made it this far enjoy this panel of totally definitely Dr. Doom (Spider-Man/Fantastic Four v1 #1)
She-Hulk Readthrough part 2
I'm starting a new post bc the previous one was getting really long
All-New Savage She-Hulk, Fall of the Hulks, and some other random stuff
All-New Savage She-Hulk
ewwww what the fuck
Lyra I'm going to get you out of there girl
that was a cool story except for the part where she was sent back in time to FUCK NORMAN OSBORN
Fall of the Hulks
Besties I was really trying. I was reading things that Jen didn't appear in just to try to understand this event. This is the most convoluted shit imaginable. I can't keep track of who knows what. I can't keep track of who is working with who. I can't keep track of anyone's goals here. I hate this and yet I am also deeply fascinated by it.
FotH Alpha: This has the Red Ghost and the Super-Apes so I am legally required to like it
FotH Red Hulk 2: I'm so confused.
FotH Gamma: I'm unsure if anyone knows that General Ross is Red Hulk at this point so I feel like I didn't get as much out of this as I could have
Hulk v2 20: Red Hulk kills a Super-Ape :(
Hulk v2 13-24: I am really trying to understand what's going on. The way 24 explored the difference between Bruce and Ross and how they mirror each other was really cool though
Incredible Hulk v1 606-610: I'm so confused
FotH Savage She-Hulks: I really like how Jen is acting as a mother figure for Lyra since Thundra can't
Incredible Hulk v1 611: IM CRYING A LITTLE BIT THAT WAS REALLY POWERFUL
Worth Reading
Marvel Divas: this is kind of a bizarre friend group and Jen was barely in it but I liked the art and it was really sweet 🥺
Wolverine v3 73-74: Jen was in 1 panel in 73 and 74 wasn't even on my reading list but for some reason, despite the fact that I don't like Wolverine, 73 intrigued me enough to read the next issue
She-Hulk: Cosmic Collision: I guess this goes here? As a Jen-centric story? But it was weird and I had a hard time following it.
Incredible Hulk v1 600: THIS FUCKED
Incredible Hulk v1 601-605: I'm enjoying the Lyra back-up story
Not Worth Reading
Mighty Avengers 22-23: SLOTT!! Also this was stupid idk
Planet Skaar Prologue: ...it vaguely reminded me of the 2001 Hulk annual...
Fantastic Four v1 569: I'm completely lost and Jen was only in 1 panel
Strange Tales v5 1-3: It is fascinating what they could publish in 2009...
Avengers vs. Atlas 3: ok this one is giving the 2001 Hulk annual and also brought up Juggernaut

The evolution of Doctor Strange's outfit
Notes:
- When I say “classic outfit”, I’m referring to the blue robe, Eye of Agamotto and red Cloak of Levitation. The sash/belt may change.
- Some pictures are from different issues in order to offer a better view of the outfit. Every issue is addressed with its proper numbers.
- I left civilian outfits out of this list because I wanted to focus on combat uniforms.
- I left some “variants” (such as Paradox) out of the list because he’s one of Stephen’s sides that became sentient so not really him. Same goes for minor changes (such as Anti-venom and venomized Doctor Strange).
- I left alternate universes out of the list because it would be too much to make a comp but I can make a separate post on that matter.
History
Doctor Strange debuted in Strange Tales #110 (1963) wearing a blue long-sleeved robe, orange gloves and sash, the Amulet of Agamotto and black/bluish pants. As I was doing my research, I noticed that Stephen’s debut didn’t feature his blue “lesser” cloak of levitation, which was only introduced in Strange Tales #114, thus becoming a permanent part of his outfit. It was substituted with the red Cloak of Levitation in Strange Tales #128 (1964), along with the Eye of Agamotto after Stephen triumphs over Dormammu.
From Strange Tales #115 and #128, respectively.
In Doctor Strange v1 #177 (1974), as part of the plot, Stephen begins to wear a more “heroic” looking, adopting a blue mask and... underwear over pants. The look doesn’t last much and Stephen goes back to the classic red Cloak and no mask.
From Doctor Strange v1 #177.
In Doctor Strange - Sorcerer Supreme #10 (1989), a small change can be seen: Stephen loses the “skirt” in his robe, which is now under the sash (reference from issue #12).
From Doctor Strange - Sorcerer Supreme #17.
After long years of no apparent change, the 90′s came and gave us this atrocity in Sorcerer Supreme #75 (1995). Stephen now wears a black suit with white ornaments, mask/dark glasses and long hair. No goatee/beard (outrageous!).
From Doctor Strange - Sorcerer Supreme #76.
Thank the Vishanti, the outfit only lasted 5 issues, being substituted with a white shirt featuring golden ornaments and black pants, while the Cloak of Levitation took the shape of a trench coat in Sorcerer Supreme #80 (1995 - reference from issue #82).
From Uncanny X-Men #329.
The next outfit only lasted two issues in the pages of Spider-Man Family v2 #5 (2007) and it’s not like anything we’ve seen before: long-sleeved red and blue shirt with yellow shoulder pads and edges, blue pants and a yellow sash. All the rest featured Stephen either in his Sorcerer Supreme lastest outfit or his classic one with the red Cloak of Levitation.
From Spider-Man Family v2 #5.
Stephen will only leave his classic outfit behind when he finds himself unworthy to be the Sorcerer Supreme. He then wears a long-sleeved black turtleneck and gray pants and trench coat in New Avengers v1 #51 (2009 - reference from issue #59). Little changes are made, mostly based on colors. First of them is recognized by both his pants and trench coat that now become brown in Fear Itself - The Deep #1 (2011). Next, the pants become gray while the trench coat remains brown in New Avengers v2 #1 (2010). Lastly, the trench coat gets a greenish shade in New Avengers v2 #34 (2013). You can also notice a regular belt. Note: it is not the first time we see him in turtleneck and brown pants and trench coat, as seen in Quasar #19 (1991). This look, however, is not a battle outfit like the others. Still, the inspiration is clear.
From Quasar #19 and New Avengers v2 #2, respectively.
Finally, Stephen debuts his black and red outfit in Defenders v4 (2012). The sash and gloves are now red, as well as the symbol on his chest. No cloak is featured but he can still fly. When he takes the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme back, little changes except for the Cloak of Levitation and Eye of Agamotto, although the black suit gets some shades of blue due to Mike Deodato Jr.’s art.
From Defenders v4 #1.
It’s only in Secret Wars (2015) that Stephen gets a really bad haircut and a full black suit with ornaments in yellow, along with a lilac cape.
Stephen then is “rebooted” to Doctor Strange v4 (2015), having his Cloak and Eye back, although with a new belt featuring a bag and new boots. In Doctor Strange v4 #12, however, Stephen has his cloak tore by Imperator, and begins to wear a blue cloak (not confirmed to be the original from Strange Tales).
From Doctor Strange v4 #18.
In Doctor Strange v1 #384 (2018), Stephen momentarily takes the shape of the God of Magic, wearing a long robe in white and gold and holding a staff. His hair also grows a little bit. It doesn’t last much, but I figured it was worth mentioning it.
Back in Doctor Strange v5 #5 (2018), Stephen crafts the space suit, also known as kink suit: a black (and tight) suit with belts and white ornaments, Cloak of Levitation, Eye of Agamotto, jackboots and a golden checkered gauntlet on his right wrist. Hair is all pulled back.
From Doctor Strange v5 #10.
Lastly, Stephen is back to his classic outfit in a modern rereading within the pages of Dr. Strange - Surgeon Supreme #1 (2019): the “skirt” now has a V shape, the yellow sash is larger and a small belt with a bag crosses his waist transversely. It’s the standard for today’s comics.
From Black Cat v2 #1.
And this it! Lemme know if I missed anything and feel free to share your favorite! Mine is obviously the kink suit but I also adore the newest version.

Hello! I was wondering what the timeline for Wanda is in the 21 Century? So from what I saw from another anon she was in 2004-2005 then disappeared and came back into 2010 then got a solo in 2016. Do we know where she was in 2005-2010, 2010-2016, and post Solo to now? I heard she has more of a presence in Strange Academy. I've also seen her pop up a couple times and apparently she's not so much with the XMen. Is she not part of any magic teams or something?
hello!! so here's a rough outline of where she's been in the 21 century:
2004: avengers disassembled — leads into house of m
2005: house of m — wanda has a breakdown, alters reality at the request of pietro who was scared of losing her (they were debating on killing her), the reality shatters, nmm happens, wanda disappears
2010: avengers children's crusade — we finally see wanda again though she has no idea who she is and has no memories of hom. shes about to get married to doom. the whole life force reveal is here. she remembers herself and her children
2012: avengers vs xmen — exactly as it sounds, wanda is literally like the boogeyman to the xmen they see her and they run. she works with hope and together they banish the phoenix and mutants are repowered
2012: uncanny avengers v1 — post avx, the avengers and x-men are now on the same team, wanda is part of this team
2014: axis — maximoff family retcon happens, wanda tries to curse her bloodline but only pietro gets hurt and they realize magneto is not their father
2015: uncanny avengers v2 — post axis team. she and pietro go and seek out the high evolutionary and learn ab their parentage and powers
2015: scarlet witch — her solo run, she explores and seeks out the roma to understand her family better, fixes magic
2017: secret empire — wanda gets possessed by chthon and marvel has her join the hydra avengers bc theyre insane
2017: uncanny avengers v3 — wanda seeks to join this team post-possession as a way of moving on. she begins to date jericho in this :-)
2018: avengers no surrender — a lot of shit is happening around the planet and the different avengers teams come together. wanda is part of this and works on the magic side for most of it. good run one of my faves
2018: quicksilver no surrender — she makes appearances in this to help pietro
2019: avengers no road home — new team, wanda is a part of this
2020: strange academy — wanda is on the teaching staff
2020: empyre x-men — wanda raises millions of zombies by accident
