The moment it was announced, The Best of All Worlds event immediately caught every guitar lover's attention. As if Joe Satriani playing Eddie Van Halen's parts wasn't enough of a fun idea, it's a quartet also featuring Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony, and Jason Bonham. Together, they hit the road on July 13, with a total of 28 shows up until the end of August.
There's also been a lot of ruckus online due to Joe Satriani's performance of Van Halen's "Mean Street" on The Howard Stern Show. However, we have no doubt that Satch has all the Eddie Van Halen parts sorted out, and we can hear that in these new social media posts on Sammy Hagar's channels.
The former Van Halen singer shared a few rehearsal videos where we get a small taste of what's it going to be like at their live shows. You can check out a few of these songs in embedded players below.
This is the first Bandcamp Friday in which ‘Witches’ is available! Make sure you go and get your download if you’re a fan of Stoner Rock and Doom Metal! This is the longest song we’ve ever released!

RESIDUAL SELF created this song for the events 330 years ago taking place in Salem, Massachusetts. With the lyrical themes of revenge and retribution, the witches have returned, along with their magick. In New England, where RESIDUAL SELF is based, there is a huge jam band scene that both Rex and David have experience playing in. This song "Witches" draws on both our background experience, and our location close to Salem. It is the lengthiest song we've made so far with multiple guitar solos from Josh. This is our answer to a jam style song, but bringing the hard and heavy style RESIDUAL SELF is known for."
apparently, ultimate guitar doesn't accept tabs for unreleased songs - which, cool, whatever, but i know i've seen them on there before? & i've avidly used uguitar for years without ever running into this before ,, not a big deal by any means, just bizarre lol. i guess i won't be sharing them with the world
Wolfgang Van Halen has admitted that he was "nervous as hell" performing his late father Eddie's songs at last year's Taylor Hawkins tribute concerts.
Wolfie played three Van Halen songs — "On Fire", "Hot For Teacher" and "Panama" — over the course of two concerts last September alongside Dave Grohl on bass, Josh Freese on drums and The Darkness' Justin Hawkins on vocals.
In a new interview with Rock Sound conducted at this weekend's Download Festival in the UK, Wolf looked back on that Hawkins tribute concerts, saying:
"Oh, man. I was nervous as hell. Taking away any emotional weight to it all, just performing with three musicians who I've loved my entire life and looked up to was crazy enough, but then you add the emotional weight of it all for Taylor. [It was] probably one of the only few times I'd ever really play any songs like that for Pop and for Taylor. Yeah, just an insane thing that I'll never forget."
