Jealousy
Paring-Paul Lahote! x Fem!Reader
A/N: A short one shot. You know the boys are werewolves in this btw, you just don't know that Paul imprinted. Not proof read!
Summary: Paul imprints on reader. Reader does not know. Paul does not tell reader and a comment from Jared pushes him over the edge.
Tumblr media
Readers POV
" Hey Em, do you think this is a good consistency?" I ask looking over at Emily who was kneading dough in her hands. I hold up the bowl for her to look at.
"That's perfect!" she exclaims happily.
I smile back at her and then pour the mixture into the pan.
"The boys better worship the ground we walk on for this," I say humorously as we share a laugh.
We both look up at each other suddenly when we hear the sound of shuffling outside and then the sound of the front door being slammed.
"Calm down Paul!" Sam's loud voice echoes through the house as he and Paul walk through the door. Well, Sam was walking, Paul was storming.
The anger coming off of Paul was obvious, when Paul gets upset it's like you can physically see the steam coming off of his body. Sam continued behind Paul gaining speed and grabbing his arm forcing Paul to look at him.
"I'm not going to say it again Paul," Sam said with a stern look on his face. The kind of look of a true alpha, which he was.
Paul whips around and gives Sam a challenging look.
"You heard what he said!" Paul quipped as Sam, expressing his irritation.
Sam pauses, they share a look, and Paul trudges to his room without a word.
"What was that about?" Emily asked questioningly at her lover.
Sam walked over to her and wrapped his arms around her from behind, you could see his body relax as he sunk into the touch.
"Just Paul being Paul," Sam said heaving a sigh.
"It seemed like more than that," I pointed. Trying to get more information.
Sam and I had a brother-and-sister-type dynamic. He did his best to keep me out of things but I was just as stubborn as he is, so he knew I wouldn't give this up easily.
"Jared made a comment, in his mind, and Paul didn't take it too well," Sam said begrudgingly, obviously not wanting to bring attention to the issue.
"What was the comment?" I asked wiping my hands clean of some batter and flour.
I look up and see how tense Sam is now, avoiding eye contact with me he takes a muffin from the rack on the counter and sits down, starting to eat.
"It's nothing to worry about it's all been handled" Sam mumbles into the muffin "This muffin is delicious babe" Sam smiled up at Emily.
"Wow smooth change of subject, Sam" Emily says laughing a bit.
I think for a moment and start walking over to Paul's door.
"That might not be the best idea Y/N," Sam says from behind me.
I ignore him and continue walking. I reach the door and knock quietly. I hear a grumble coming from the other side of the door, and I open it to find Paul lying on his bed arm over his face.
"Are you okay Paul?" I ask, concern laced in my voice.
When he realizes it is you he perks his head up and starts to sits up. You walk over and sit at the end of his bed facing him.
“I don’t want to talk right now Y/N” he looks at you with defeat on his face.
“I understand Paul, but it might make you feel better. Just tell me what happened. Maybe I can help” I tell him putting my hand atop of his comfortingly. He looks at my hand on his for a moment before speaking.
“I don’t think you’ll understand” he says breathing out.
“Then help me understand” I say eagerly
He looks up at me and there’s something in his eyes that I can’t describe. He stares at me for awhile, just looking me.
“Jared made a comment” I could feel the heat in his body radiating off of him as he continued talking I squeezed his hand to show him that I’m listening.
“He made a comment about you” He started shaking thinking about it.
“Hey, hey, hey, it’s okay calm down” I say taking his face in my hands and making him look at me.“I don’t care about whatever he thought, it doesn’t bother me Paul” I said trying to calm him down.
“It may not bother you but it bothers me!” Paul said cooling off a bit at my touch but still upset.
“What did he say that’s so bad?” I question
Paul sighs and looks down at his hands. “He was thinking about you, about how you are pretty, about how perfect you are, about how if he was your imprint he would tell you immediately.” Paul paused for a minute before taking your hands in his and fully facing you. “You’re my imprint Y/N, that’s why I’m so upset, that’s why it bothers me so much, that’s why he thought it, and that’s also why I smashed his face in the ground.” Paul said with a satisfying smirk at the last comment. “I know that you’re probably disappointed that it’s me but I can’t hide it from you any longer, I’m in love with you Y/N”
As soon as he finished talking and looked at you nervously you smashed your lips against his. The kiss was deep, hungry, you were a woman starved and Paul was a five course meal. The kiss lasted until both of you pulled away for air, Paul smiled widely at you and you shared the expression.
“ I could never, ever be disappointed by that” you told him genuinely “I’ve been in love with you since we were ten” Paul laughed with relief.
“Y/N will you be my girlfriend” Paul asked placing his hand on your check and rubbing gently.
“Of course I will Paul” you share another kiss, when you pull away you put your hand on his chest to stop him from continuing.
“What?” Paul asked looking like a kicked puppy, as you withhold your kisses.
“I love you but you better apologize to Jared, or no muffins for a week” you quipped jokingly giving him a smirk.
“No fair! he started it” He yells chasing after you as you walk out the door laughing.

Can you do a Paul Lahote X reader
Where it’s based off in New Moon
Bella and their sibling Reader go visit the pack after Bella found out about shifters (Thanks ti Paul shifting from anger).
And since Bella already told her sibling about the Cullens being Vampires, obviously she would tell them about Jacob and the rez being shifters.
And it fast forwards to Bella and Reader to officially meet the pack. When the two meets the pack Reader makes eye contact with Paul Lahote which causes Paul to imprint.
P.s. im pretty sure the pack can tell when someone imprints.
❝imprint❞

✭ pairing : paul lahote x reader
✭ fandom : twilight
✭ summary : (y/n) is the sister of Bella swan, when Jacob begins ignoring Bella, Bella takes it upon herself to find out and like always when trouble arrises where one swan goes the other swan isn’t to far behind
✭ authors note : firstly the girls picture I used looked so similar to Bella to me that I just had to use that specific one

Bella Swan had reached her breaking point. For weeks now, Jacob Black had been ignoring her, leaving her with a heartache that seemed to grow with each passing day. Desperate for answers, Bella decided it was time to confront him, even if it meant dragging her sister (Y/N) along with her.
The two sisters made their way to the Quileute reservation, where Jacob and his pack resided. As they arrived, Bella couldn't help but notice Paul Lahote and a few other boys standing outside. Determined, she approached them, her eyes scanning the group in search of Jacob.
"Hey," Bella called out, her voice laced with frustration. "Where's Jacob?"
Paul smirked, his eyes narrowing. "Why do you care? He's clearly moved on."
Bella's heart sank at Paul's words, but she refused to back down. "I deserve an explanation. We were friends, and he's been avoiding me for no reason."
The other boys exchanged glances, refusing to meet Bella's gaze. It was clear they were hiding something, but they weren't willing to share the truth.
(Y/N) had been waiting patiently in the car, but a sudden unease washed over her. Trusting her instincts, she stepped out and made her way towards Bella, unaware of the events that were about to unfold.
Paul's rude comment about Jacob pushed Bella over the edge. Without thinking, she slapped him across the face, the sound echoing through the quiet reservation.
Paul's body trembled, his expression contorting in pain. In an instant, he transformed into a massive wolf, his fur bristling with anger. Panic surged through Bella's veins, but she couldn't tear her eyes away from the creature before her.
(Y/N) sprinted towards them, her heart pounding in her chest. She couldn't let her sister face this danger alone. Just as she reached them, Jacob burst onto the scene, his own transformation complete.
"Bella, move!" Jacob's voice was urgent, filled with concern for her safety. He lunged at Paul, a fierce growl erupting from his throat.
(Y/N) found herself locking eyes with Paul, their gaze holding for a brief moment. And in that instant, everything changed. Paul's anger evaporated, replaced by a look of wonder and awe.
He imprinted on her.
Paul saw their future together, a life filled with love and happiness. He saw them dating, getting married, and even raising a child together. Overwhelmed by the intensity of his newfound emotions, Paul turned and disappeared into the depths of the surrounding woods, still in his wolf form.
As the dust settled, Jacob's eyes softened, his focus shifting from Paul to Bella. "Are you okay?" he asked, concern etched into his voice.
Bella nodded, speechless, her eyes filled with a mix of confusion and relief. But it was (Y/N) who held the weight of the revelation, her mind swirling with the implications of what had just occurred.
Jacob, his eyes filled with remorse and determination, took a deep breath before speaking. "I owe you an explanation, Bella. And (Y/N), I'm sorry you got dragged into this mess. But if you're willing to listen, there's a gathering tonight at the beach, we’re having barn fire. You'll hear the truth there."
Bella glanced at her sister, who nodded in agreement, her curiosity piqued. They both knew that this was their chance to finally uncover the secrets that had been shrouding Jacob and his pack.
As evening fell, Bella and (Y/N) made their way to the barn, their hearts pounding with anticipation. The sound of crackling fire and laughter filled the air, as the Quileute tribe and the pack celebrated their ancestral traditions.
Jacob approached them, his eyes sincere. "Thank you for coming. I promise, I'll explain everything."
The sisters found a spot near the fire, surrounded by the members of the pack and the Quileute tribe. Jacob stood at the center, his voice carrying through the crowd as he recounted the legends of their people.
He spoke of the Quileute tribe's ancient connection to the wolf spirit, and how some members of the tribe possessed the ability to transform into powerful, enormous wolves. He revealed the long-standing feud between his pack and the Cullens, the "cold ones" as they were known, who were vampires.
As Jacob spoke, Bella and (Y/N) listened intently, their eyes widening with each revelation. They were captivated by the tales of their battles against the Cullens, how they protected their land and loved ones from the vampire threat.
Paul, who had been nearby, approached (Y/N) cautiously after Jacob finished his story. "Can we talk?" he asked, his voice laced with a mix of hope and uncertainty.
(Y/N) hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to expect. But something in Paul's eyes told her that he genuinely wanted to connect with her, to explain the strange imprinting bond that had formed between them.
She nodded, and the two of them stepped away from the gathering, finding a quiet spot where they could talk undisturbed.
Paul took a deep breath, his eyes searching (Y/N)'s face. "I never expected this to happen," he began. "Imprinting is a powerful force, one that we can't control. It's like an instant, unbreakable bond that forms between two people."
(Y/N) listened, her heart pounding with a mix of confusion and curiosity. She had heard of imprinting before, but experiencing it firsthand was an entirely different matter.
Paul continued, his voice filled with a mixture of excitement and vulnerability. "When I looked into your eyes, I saw our future together. I saw us dating, getting married, and even having a child. It scared me at first, but now, I can't deny the pull I feel towards you."
(Y/N)'s mind raced, trying to process the enormity of what Paul was saying. She had only just met him, and yet, this supernatural bond had formed between them. She couldn't deny the connection she felt, the strange familiarity that seemed to draw her towards him.
"I don't know what this means for us," Paul admitted, his expression earnest. "But I want to figure it out, if you're willing."
(Y/N) took a moment to gather her thoughts, her gaze meeting Paul's. "I don't understand it fully either," she confessed. "But I'm willing to explore this connection, to see where it leads."
A smile tugged at the corners of Paul's lips, relief washing over his features. "Thank you," he whispered, his voice filled with gratitude.
As they rejoined the gathering, Bella and (Y/N) felt a sense of newfound understanding and acceptance. The truth had been revealed, and their lives would never be the same again. They were embarking on a journey into a world of supernatural beings, where love, loyalty, and destiny intertwined in ways they could never have imagined.

Standing In The Rain
pairings: Seth x reader
summary: after weeks of not talking due to secrets being held Seth finally confronts the reader while standing in the rain
warnings: angst then fluff 😋
w/c: 1087
Masterlist
A/N: Thank you guys for 1,000+ notes on Rainy Days ♥️🥺
Tumblr media
“So you’re just going to leave me out in the rain!?” Seth yelled, his hands waving in the air as he tried his best to get your attention.
The rain poured down on the roof of your car, you sat watching the wipers push the hard rain off of your windows. Everything was calm for a few seconds, you had just arrived back from your night class. The news that was spreading on the radio caught your attention, and that was one of the reasons why you decided to sit in the car, the other was the rain that was pouring down. The final one was your boyfriend standing in the middle of your driveway blocking you from entering your house.
It has been approximately a week since you last spoke to him, it honestly didn’t bother you. Every time you thought about him you grew irritated with him and the situation he put you in. No explanation could honestly bring you out of this funk that you were in, however, if you didn’t allow him into your car your parents would come outside and invite him into your house.
With the most stoic facial expression, you unlocked the door, you kept your eyes on him as he made his way around to your car. Once he touched bases in your passenger seat you went back to what you were doing before he interrupted you. Seth on the other hand was pushing every button on the heat to get warm.
Your eyes raised with the utmost cockiness there was, “I thought you couldn’t get sick. Isn’t that the werewolf within you?”
Seth turned to look at you, from the corner of your eye you could still see the water pellets dropping from his skin. “Yeah, but I’m still soaking wet from the water. I’ve been standing out there for like 26 minutes.” He continued to ramble about the rain getting into his ears making them hurt when they dry. And how he was going to smell like a wet dog since his clothes were all muddy. He talked and talked until he finally stopped, he noticed that you weren’t listening to him. Your eyes were glued to your garage, too deep in your thoughts to even give a damn about what he was saying.
“Can I explain myself?” He asked, he reached into your back seat to grab a spare shirt of yours. His hands ran through his hair as he tried his best to dry it with the cotton material.
You looked down at your apple watch, it was already going on 9 at night. Your curfew was at 10 so that meant he only had approximately 10 minutes to explain himself.
“There’s honestly nothing to explain, I’ve heard it all Seth.” You turned to look at him, he was staring back at you with the utmost remorseful look. You could tell he meant no harm from the situation but it hurt knowing that he lied. “It hurts more knowing that I had to hear it from them rather than you.”
His eyes softened as he began to speak, “I know, trust me I was going to tell you but I didn’t want it to be too much on you. You know the whole werewolf thing is one thing but imprinting is a whole other situation. That was something special I was supposed to tell you.”
With your arms crossed you leaned back into the chair. The flashback of that day came dancing back into your head. The boys joking around with their girlfriends, Seth walked away from the group for one second and the beans were spilled. He could’ve warned the boys that you didn’t know, you sat there looking stupid with tears in your eyes. They told you what imprinting was, it sounded like Seth was only with you because he had to. You genuinely had a love for Seth Clearwater and it hurt to know that the same love that you had for him wasn’t the same for him. Seth's love was forced upon him, he had no choice but to you love.
Forcefully your eyes closed, and the hurt you felt from the weeks prior started to emerge. You could feel Seth pulling your arm into him. You didn’t bother to put up a fight, you allowed your body to melt into his wet one. “They made it seem like you’re only with me because of fate. Like we’re supposed to be in love because you imprinted on me. It honestly sounds creepy Seth.” You mumbled into his shirt, you could hear his heartbeat getting faster by the minute. He was nervous.
“See, That’s exactly why I didn’t want to tell you yet. It’s so much more than that (Y/N). I’m not with you because I imprinted on you, I’m with you because I genuinely have a love for you and I want to be with you.” His head rested on top of yours as he tapped his fingers gently against your skin.
“I don’t like the secrets Seth, that’s why I was so upset with you. You can’t hide things like this from me no matter how bad you think they are.”
“I know and I’m sorry. I was just trying to do the right thing. It’s a lot to take on but trust me when I say that I didn’t want to hurt you. I would never do that to you (Y/N). From now on no more secrets.”
He held out his pinky finger which you wrapped your own tightly around. That sealed the deal about everything you two just talk about Looking up at Seth you could see the moonlight reflecting off of his brown eyes, he looked like he was in deep thought. His eyes were panned out to the rain. Gently you shook his arm catching his attention, “Seth, I’m not blaming you for any of this. I guess I was just stuck in my own ways. I understand that you wanted to wait for my well-being which I respect so much about you. But next time could you please give your boys head-ups.” You laughed, Seth nodded his head. The biggest grin on his face.
With one hand under your chin, he brought your lips up to his. “You don’t have to worry about anything else princess.” He whispered those words against your lips before closing the space with his own.

Open Arms - Jacob Black x Reader
—————
Genre - fluffy cute adorable-ness!
Warnings - other than cussing, none
Summary - Y/N wasn’t really expecting any visitors on their day off, but when Jacob randomly shows up at their door they know something has to be on his mind.
Tumblr media
The morning was chilly and damp, the perfect weather for staying inside curled up in a blanket and watching comfort shows with a cup of whatever hot beverage was preferred.
Personally, I was drinking hot apple cider and paying attention to a true crime documentary.
“How in the ever living hell could someone do that to another human being. That beats all I’ve ever seen, I swear.” I said to myself as I took a sip of the sweet liquid, feeling the warmth travel down my throat.
I love my days off. I love rainy days, and I love sunny days, really any day is a good day when there’s no work involved.
Of course I have friends to hang out with when I’m off, however I’m pretty content keeping myself company too. Maybe I’ll call Alice and Bella later to see if they want to do something, like a girls night out. You can never go wrong with a girls night out.
And if Alice is with Jasper, and Bella is with Edward (which will be most likely), I’ll just call Jacob. Yeah, that’s what I’ll do. My boyfriend is practically one of the girls. I’ll just have a girls night with him… as a back up to the actual girls night I’m planning in my head.
I guess people would just call that a date though, wouldn’t they.
Tuning back into the documentary on the television, I took another sip of my cider. I put my feet up on the coffee table in front of me, the bottom of my pajama pants slighting hanging down right above my ankles.
By now, the weather outside was getting a little rough. Thunder would rumble and lightning would strike in sync with the revelations or the part of the show where the murders were being described on the screen. I grimaced at one of the real photos that popped up right as a loud boom sounded from the sky.
“Gross.” I muttered.
I took the last swig of my drink and set the empty cup down on the coaster beside my feet. I grabbed the blanket next to me on the couch and covered myself for extra warmth.
… and comfort from the paranoia of the murders I’m currently hearing about.
Although the heavy rain mixed in with true crime made it unsettling, the atmosphere was kind of relaxing at the same time. Dim lights, candles going, the pitter patter of the droplets, thunder, a full tummy from a warm drink, and the oddly soothing voice of the old man telling the heinous acts committed made my eyes flutter open and closed. I pulled the blanket higher over my face, just enough to where it hid my lips. My head gently fell to the side, my eyes still on the television trying my best to keep my attention. It was easier said than done, because soon my lids stayed shut and I started tuning out the words that were spoken. Steady breathing was the only thing I could really hear, at least it was the only thing that I chose to listen to.
Until a deafening BOOM! jolted my body awake once more. No way was I tired now.
“Holy!— shit… that sounded close.” My heart was racing at the crack of the thunder that just made its appearance, slowing down when I realized it was just that.
Thunder.
Nothing else.
I made a conscious decision to browse more shows, preferably something light and funny considering what just happened. Obviously it was nothing, but I’m getting myself a bit worked up and I don’t want to instigate it further.
“Ooo!” I finally found the old school Scooby Doo and turned that on instead. “This’ll be nice.” I smiled to myself. It was also something I could accidentally fall asleep to without getting scared shitless being abruptly woken up.
I was deep into the episode playing when I heard a knock on the door. I slightly turned my head in confusion, I wasn’t expecting anyone today and hardly anyone came unannounced. Flash images of the true crime documentary made their way to my mind as I slowly got up. All of my curtains were closed, and I didn’t really feel like looking behind them for fear of a face planted directly in front of mine with only glass separating us.
Walking towards the door, I picked up the scissors on the coffee table I had left there the night before.
Whoever was out there wasn’t happy with my pace, because another round of knocks came pounding, this time a bit louder.
“Dammit.” I whispered, just a few steps away from the handle now. The scissors were close to my chest as I put my palm around the knob after unlocking it. I took a deep breath, starting to slowly turn the knob now. I cracked the door open, expecting to either see nothing, or to see come crazy psycho with an axe getting ready to chop me into pieces for fun.
But I immediately relaxed when I saw the familiar black hair and those big brown doe eyes I’ve come to admire so much. Opening the door all the way now, I was met face to face with Jacob.
“Hey…” He breathed.
“How anticlimactic.” I accidentally slipped out.
“…..What?” His confused expression replacing the gentle one that was just there.
“Oh um… what are you doing here?” I ignored his words. “Not that you’re not welcome! You just… usually call beforehand.” I sensed how my question could be taken the wrong way. “Are you okay? Goodness, your soaking wet. Did you not bring an umbrella? Shit, Jacob, come in.” I stepped to the side to get out of his way.
He walked in and I closed the door behind him.
“Why do you have scissors?” He asked.
Turning around and facing his back, I placed my hands on his shoulders and started to help him take his dripping coat off. “Why not?” I replied, tossing it on the floor, making a mental note to wash it later. “But answer me, are you okay?” I repeated myself from a minute earlier, looking at him.
“I um, I don’t know.” He replied. “I don’t know.”
“Okay.” I nodded, concern written on my features. “Okay, that’s okay.” I took both of his hands in mine and placed a soft kiss on his knuckles, they were wet from some of the rain outside that rested on them, and everywhere else on his body. I started rubbing the back of his palms with the front of mine vigorously in a stupid attempt to warm him up, almost as if I was trying to roll a ball of dough in my hands. “Aw, love, you’re so cold.” I muttered, my brows furrowed in concentration.
I heard him let out a deep chuckle. When I looked at him he was already gazing at me. I gave him a reassuring smile.
“Here, go take a hot shower.” I stopped to go grab him a towel and rag. “I washed your clothes from last time you stayed over, you can change into those!” I raised my voice a bit so he’d hear me as I gathered all of his things and put them in the bathroom.
It wasn’t long before he was beside me, already starting to strip down. I scooted past him to go ahead and start the hot water. When I got the shower temp just right, I turned back to Jacob. His shirt was off and he was working towards his shorts.
“Maybe while you’re in there you can think about what’s wrong? We can talk about it after you get out, yeah?” I put a hand on his cheek, which he leaned into.
“Yeah, that sounds good baby.”
“Good.” I started to walk away, but not before I gave him a little kiss on his other cheek. “I’ll be in the kitchen, or the living room.” I shut the bathroom door as I exited.
I figured that while I waited for him to get out, I would fix a little something to eat. Breakfast, or brunch, I didn’t really know what time it was and I don’t feel like checking.
Bacon, eggs, and jelly toast. All classics, and all delicious.
I was just about done with everything when I heard the shower turn off. The only thing left I had to do was jelly my toast. I left Jacob’s untouched in case he didn’t want any on his.
And speaking of him, a few minutes later he walked into the kitchen as I was fixing the plates.
“Hey! I made some food. I don’t know if you’ve had anything this morning, but I haven’t, so if you don’t eat it I will.” I let him know that it was okay to decline my offer of a mouth watering meal.
“You think I’m gonna pass up on a good breakfast made by the love of my life? I don’t think so.” Jacob scoffed and took his plate.
I beamed at the title he had given me and followed him to the table with my own food. I thought it’d be nice to just eat and talk about lighter things, rather than what’s on his mind right now, that’ll be for after.
“Thank gosh you took a shower, you smelled like a dirty, wet dog.” I joked, taking a bite of bacon.
“Ha-ha, very funny.” He playfully rolled his eyes in response.
“No, really! I could practically smell you from all the way inside. I thought there was a stray on my front porch.”
“M’kay, so you were getting ready to stab what you thought was a stray dog that wandered onto your porch?”
“Huh?” I genuinely was lost after he said that.
“The scissors.” He continued.
“Ohhhhhhh.”
“Ohhh..” He mimicked me.
“Pffft, no. I was getting ready to do arts and crafts with said stray dog.”
“Mhm, sure.”
We looked at each other before breaking out into laughs and grins.
“Shut up, Jacob.” The smile still on my face as I softly pushed his shoulder with mine. I got up and took my plate to the sink. He did the same. I grabbed two water bottles from the fridge and handed one to him, then started walking to the couch in the living room. We sat next to one another, and I took his arm in mine and put my head on his shoulder.
“Do you wanna watch anything?” I eyed the tv, absentmindedly watching whatever had come on after Scooby Doo. When I didn’t get a response, I sat up straight so I could look at him. Once again, he was already staring at me.
“…No.”
“Hey…” I started, remembering why he was here in the first place, “what’s on your mind?”
I stumbled to reach the remote on the table and turned off the television, the screen going black with just the rain and distant thunder for background noise.
“Lovely, talk to me.” I ran a hand through his hair, hoping to make him more comfortable.
“I don’t know, Y/N. It’s stupid.”
“Don’t say that.” I spoke. “Whatever it is, you have every right to feel the way you do, your feelings are valid.”
I started to readjust. I put my legs up on the coffee table like I had them earlier and then patted my lap with a small flick of my head to gesture to Jacob to lay down. He didn’t even hesitate.
Looking down at him, I had one hand on his upper jaw and the other one continued to play with his hair.
“I’m just…. I’ve been thinking a lot.”
“Oh lord.” I added, trying to make him laugh. It worked.
“And I’m just worried, I guess. About the future, and what’s gonna happen. What I have to do.”
“Oh baby. You don’t need to worry about things that haven’t even happened yet, especially things that won’t even happen for a long time.”
“I know,” he kissed my hand, “I can’t help it.”
“Look, I have no doubt that I’ll be there in the future right beside you. Helping you figure out whatever it is that needs figuring out. We’re a team. Your problems, your worries, your desires… are mine too. You’re not alone.”
I looked at him. Really looked at him. I needed him to understand what I had just said.
“I love you.” He stated. “So much.”
“I love you.” I smiled sweetly at him. “I’m here, if you really want to go into depth about what exactly it is with the future you’re worried about.”
“Yeah, sweetheart, I know… but right now I think I might fall asleep.” He flipped over on his side in my lap. “You’re just too comfortable.”
I giggled. “Oh really?”
“Mhm.”
I squealed when all of the sudden his lips met my stomach as he blew air on my skin, doing what people call a raspberry.
“Jacob!!” I laughed, lightly slapping at his side. “Stop!”
He did, placing a gentle kiss on the spot he just attacked instead.
I kept rubbing his head, alternating between running my fingers through his hair and softly tracing shapes on his face. I did this until I heard the low sound of steady breathing.
Not only his, but mine as the two of us had fallen asleep, dreaming of nothing but each other.

← Chapter 8 ▪️ Chapter 10→
-----
There is nothing to do in all the spare time you now have, jobless and miserable, but think of the friend you lost. Everywhere subtle reminders of her, from the photos of you together on your phone, to the mentions of her from your Mother and Frank. You slipped into an endless cycle of depression that scared them enough to not bother you with endless questions, but you overheard the augments late at night when they thought you were asleep. Truth is, you can’t sleep these days. You miss Sarah and desperately want to fix things and in the process you’ve cut yourself of from him. Even thinking of him, or naming him, makes the pain worse, yet it’s you doing it to yourself.
You groan and turn over in bed, hugging the duvet to your body. It’s been three days since he dropped you home, the ride had been in silence as you refused to speak. You watched his white knuckle grip on the wheel and how tightly he clenched his jaw. Obviously he wanted to say something, angry at the situation, but thankfully he hadn’t voiced it there and then. Before leaving, he’d made you promise to meet him in a few days after having time to yourself, time he knew you needed even if he didn’t want the space.
You stare at the ticking clock on the bedside table, counting down the minutes. You should have met him ten minutes ago. Despite the longing to see him, feel him, breathe him, you can’t bring yourself to get up. Instead you open your phone and stare at Sarah’s number, finger hovering over it. Even if she picks up, what do you say? There’s still no explanation, the only one you had she laughed at you for it.
Tick. Tick. Tick.
The clock becomes too loud, as it reminds you that you’re now twenty minutes late. Thoughts of him sitting alone in the current downpour makes you feel increasingly guilty.
He wouldn’t still be there. You tell yourself. He’d have gone by now. Anything to make yourself feel better.
Tick. Tick. Tick.
In frustration you swipe the clock off the side, it clattering to the floor with a metallic clunking. Something skitters across the floor, probably the battery. It’s only now, in the quiet of your room, you start to tune in to sounds in other parts of the house. The sounds of an argument starting in the kitchen drifting up to you. Quietly you leave the bed and creep along the floorboards to your door. The voices have grown louder and drown out any possibility of them hearing you coming down stairs.
“Somethings wrong with my baby girl Frank, and you don’t seem to care” your mothers hysterical shriek makes you jump as you hover outside the kitchen, eavesdropping.
“I just think that perhaps we’ve been too harsh on her recently. She’s a young adult now and she’ll experiment; that’s how they learn, from mistakes!” Frank sounds calmer, you put that down to his experience as a police officer. “She’ll speak to us when she’s ready-“
“Maybe we should send her to a psychologist-“
“She doesn’t need a shrink” He laughs, rolling his eyes at the idea he finds preposterous.
“She’s depressed, Frank!” Your Mother is at boiling point, her tone squeaky and you know that soon the tears will come.
“She’s a young woman, she’s probably got boy troubles, she’s not depressed.” He tries to rationalise and for once you’re glad someone’s on your side.
“If there’s something you’d like to know, just ask.” your voice interjects quietly from the doorway, “I’d prefer that to the talking behind my back “ you accuse. They stand, looking shocked at your sudden appearance. Despite catching them talking about you, guilt swells inside for letting it get to this point. You should have talked to them and not caused further stress. “Listen,” it comes out authoritative and stops either of them jumping in. “I…” you stare at your feet as you prop your body against the door frame. “I don’t wanna tell you what you want to hear for the sake of pleasing you, saying this, I don’t need counselling-”
“Oh thank god!” your mother interrupts, her hand coming to her chest in relief. You give her the side eye, annoyed at her rudeness.
“As I was saying, I don’t need counselling. I might seem a bit down but I have reasons, one’s which Frank’s not far off.”
“So there is a boy?” your mother asks, a mixture of intrigue and confusement. Frank smiles to himself, knowing he was right. “Don’t you think we should have known there’s a boy in your life?”
“Mum!” you whine, “No, there’s no boy.” You lie, not able to deal with her current questions. Tackle one issue at a time. “It’s just friendship problems.” Neither of them say anything but Frank gives you a wink, knowing you’re not telling the whole truth. “Anyway, I’m heading out, trying to fix the problem.”  Your mother’s eyes travel your body, judging the state your appearance is currently in. She gets an eye roll from you before you walk to the front door. While slipping a pair of boots on you catch a glimpse of your reflection in the hallway mirror.
Jesus, maybe she was right to judge.
You still wear his sweater, having not taken it off, but had replaced the borrowed boxers with black leggings. Your hair, still unwashed, was scraggly and held enough grease to deep fry something in. You grab fistfuls of it and pile it high on top of your head, securing it in pace with the band from your wrist before heading to the car. Once sat inside the car, you get your phone out, finally having plucked up the nerve to call. The dial tone rings endlessly before the answer phone kicks in. In frustration you hang up and redial, the need to reach Sarah gnawing at you.
“Please pick up. Please pick up” you say through gritted teeth, hoping that it would work some magic. Once again the answer phone kicks in. Her voice sounds clear and cheery. You wait for her to stop speaking and the familiar beep to ensue, indicating for you to leave a message. “Hi Sarah,” you pause, realising how unprepared you are for this “I um… I couldn’t reach you, well you know that, but um I just wanted to check in, see how you are, even apologise. I’d rather apologise to your face and not over some dumb message…” you sigh loudly “Please just call me back, this whole thing is just so stupid, I really-”
Beep.
The time runs out for your message, cutting your words short.
“-miss you” you finish. Disappointed and annoyed you fling your phone into the seat next to you before banging your head against the steering wheel. In frustration your hands grip tightly onto the cool plastic as you release a suppressed groan. After regaining composure, you use your fingers to wipe away the wetness that stains your cheeks. Deciding you need to confront the issues in your life, you start the car and pull out of the driveway. Nervously your fingers tap against the steering wheel as thoughts race through your mind. Who to go to? Your brain, always the voice of reason, argues that Sarah should be the priority.
Mates before dates.
Despite this, every fibre of your being yearns to go somewhere else. A deep breath fills your nose with the woody scent that wafts off the sweater and sends your heart hammering. You let out a shuddery breath as you glance at the clock. Nearly fifty minutes had passed since you should have met him, why on earth would he still be there? Some small flicker of hope rages through you as you take a left turn at some crossroads, a turn that takes you further from her. The heavy rain turns to a gentle shower, as you head down the track that is becoming increasingly familiar. Under the tree canopy the rain seemed almost nonexistent but as you emerged into the clearing you noticed the occasional droplet hit the windscreen. You leave the car parked on the edge of the mud track and make your way over to the cabin, hoping that you were right in assuming he’d be here.
Gingerly you head up the porch stairs, trying not to make much sound in fear of an audience. There's voices drifting from the cracked open window, hushed in tone, not the usual energetic craziness you’ve come to associate with the gabble of boys.
“She might come around with some space” Emily’s soothing voice sounds, attempting to calm the male that answers her.
“She stood me up, I don’t think she needs time. She needs answers-”
“No.” Sam’s stern tone silences the other two. “I forbid it. She’s not one of us.”
“She’ll understand-”
“I said no Paul.”
“The other’s will be here soon, finish this before they arrive.” Emily advises. The oven door opens and then closes.
Feeling rude for eavesdropping, you try to backtrack and head to the car. Obviously now wasn’t the right time to interrupt. You make it down the stairs without so much as a creak and head back across the dirt clearing.
The low hanging tree branches to the left of the clearing start rustling as something comes running through the undergrowth. For a minute, panic floods your body. Half expecting the monster from your dreams to charge at you. You’re relieved when you hear the laughing joking voices of the boys. Emily had said they’d be returning soon.
In a hurry, you fish the car keys from your pocket but drop them in the mud. Before you can pick them up, feet thud into the clearing. In a flurry of snapping branches and bare skin something slams into you, knocking you clean off your feet. You land in the mud, something heavy on top of you.
Opening your eyes you see the smiling face of Jared, a flirtatious look twinkling in his eyes. He pushes up on his elbows as a flush creeps onto your cheeks. You’d never been this close to a man.
“Sorry about this, didn’t see you there!” He winks before another naked form runs past you both.
“Looks like I beat yo ass!” Embry calls.
Jared pushes off from the floor and offers a hand to you. The flush on your face reddens as you look away from Jared’s fully naked body.
Jared laughs. “Don’t tell me you haven’t seen Paul-”
“What the hell.” Paul’s voice erupts across from the cabin’s porch, stopping Jared’s comment in its tracks.
Your head whips around to where Paul is running down the stairs. He ignores the two naked men and heads straight to your side, looking you up and down once, then twice, noticing the mud on your clothing. His eyes then travel to the mud on Jared’s forearms and knees. His eyes turn animalistic, rage barely concealed.
“What did you do?” He spits at his friend. The words are thick with accusation.
“Calm down, it was an accident.” Jared’s eyes turn as lethally animalistic as he squares up to Paul.
“You’ve been provoking me for days.”
“You’re just too easy to wind up, man. Try not being so uptight.” He shoves Paul away from him.
“Paul?” Your voice calls to him soft and calming, perhaps the only thing that can pull him away from this. “Can we talk, please?”
He turns away from Jared, leaving the conflict before it’s too late. You take a shaky breath and try to calm your nerves but before you can say something Jared lets out a chuckle.
“It was about time she saw a real man.” His comment makes Paul’s jaw clench.
“Ignore him.” You shoot a glare at Jared, all embarrassment gone as you speak to Paul. “He doesn’t know what he’s on about.”
Taking a step towards Paul, you close the distance and place a hand on his chin, directing his gaze towards you. His jaw relaxes before he recoils from your touch. Your hand drops to your side as disappointment rushes through your being. Up until now you’d been the one rejecting and only now realise how being rejected hurts. Paul has to fight the desire to comfort you as he walks away from you and into the trees that you’d previously followed him into.
Sam, who’s been watching from the porch of the cabin, order’s Jared and embry inside. Once the two of them vanish inside the cabin, he gives you a nod of thanks.
Without overthinking, you enter the forest and retrace the footsteps you took once before and pray he’s there waiting for you. The walk to the clearing doesn't take as long as before, recognising stages of the journey which makes it memorable. Your foot clumsily catches on a tree root bulging from the earth. Smiling down at it, you can’t help but find it funny that it’s the same one that tripped you last time.
You enter the clearing and see Paul hunched over in the middle. All fours on the moss covered ground. His chest rises and falls as he breathes deeply as if meditating. You don’t say anything but let your actions speak. Silently you make your way over to him, stopping only to briefly consider what you should do.
Gingerly you place a hand on his back and make contact with his hot skin. The palm of your hand is cool compared to his scorching flesh, he flinches at the temperature change. The muscle beneath your touch contracts and relaxes as his head raises off the floor. Sliding your hand towards his shoulder blades, he brings himself into a kneeling position, his back flush against your legs as he sits on his haunches. Your arms wrap instinctively around his neck, dangling across his chest, as his head comes back to rest on your abdomen. He’s hurting and every fibre of your being screams to comfort him.
Without even thinking, you place a kiss on the crown of his head. Before withdrawing, his hands grab yours to keep you from leaving. You breathe in his scent. It's deep and woody and makes your heart flutter.
I’m sorry. I’m here now.
Without having spoken the words aloud, his body language changes as he reacts to your thoughts. The tension leaves his muscles as he relaxes further into you, his eyes shutting in content.
Cupping his chin, you tilt his face back gently. For a second you stare at his beautiful angular face before leaning down to kiss his lips. For the briefest of moments, he’s surprised, but it vanishes quickly as you become one.
A smile breaks across your features, halting the kiss. There’s a bob beneath your hand as he swallows. You draw back and watch as his eyes open, dark and filled with lust. The predatory look should scare you but doesn’t. Suddenly your mouth feels dry as nerves coarse through you.
“Hi,” you whisper.
He blinks up at you. Once, twice, three times before making a move to stand. He towers above you, head resting in the crook of your neck. Occasionally his body shakes followed by deep breaths. Trying to comfort him, you rub your hand against his back.
“What’s going on?” you work up the nerve to ask.
He sighs against you before pulling away. His eyes show deep sadness, flecks of anger swim through the irises. You take a step towards him, but he just moves further away.
“They shouldn’t have- you shouldn’t have”
“I’m not one of you.”  Sam’s words from the cabin tumble from you.
Paul looks shocked for a fraction of a second before regaining control of his emotions.
“You heard that.”
“I may not be one of your goofy group of friends, but I’m here aren’t I?” Your brows pinch together. “I’m sorry I stood you up earlier, but you have to understand how confused I am at the situation, at my feelings. I’ve never felt like this and it scares the crap out of me… But, I’m here now and that’s what matters.”
“You don’t think I’m confused?” His words catch you off guard, not expecting him to argue. “One moment you can’t keep your hands off me and then you disappear for days. What am I supposed to think?”
“You said you would be anything I want you to be…” you shrug, lost for words.
“I don’t know how to be around you.” he avoids eye contact as his hands run through his thick hair, “You kiss me like you want me, like you care-”
“I do care.”
“You act one way and then completely change the next time I see you. It’s screwing with my brain!” He yells out of frustration.
“Paul…” Tears well in your eyes. You swallow to keep them at bay.
“Jared jokes about whatever this is and it drives me insane.”
“I didn’t want to see… that,” you clarify.
Your cheeks flush in embarrassment as you think about it, not that you really saw anything, having diverted your eyes. You notice Paul taking in your flushed appearance and shrink away from you again.
“Are you jealous?”
“I was worried he might have hurt you.” He shoots you a warning glare, to not delve further into this topic.
“Jared is quite funny, if I’m being honest.” You twirl a piece of hair between your fingers. “After today… Well maybe he’s got more than just humour-”
Paul walks towards the trees, no words of goodbye.
“Don’t walk away. Please.” Your voice completely changes, the joking tone erased by desperation. Inside your chest, the beat of your heart thunders, scared that he’ll go for good. “I need you.”
He stops in his tracks, back tense.
“I need you.” It’s an echo of a whisper as you repeat it.
He turns and looks you in the eye.
“I can’t stay away from you, I tried and it made me want you more. I can’t sleep without thinking of you.” The truth starts spilling from you in waves. “I can’t breathe, It feels like death. I… I. Need. You.”
He closes the distance between you in a few strides. His proximity gives you goosebumps as he leans his forehead against yours. All you can think about is how close his lips are to yours and yet still not close enough. And then they’re on yours, warm and soft. He starts with slow gentle pecks, before they become lengthier. Your lungs burn so he moves down your neck. You moan what sounds like his name as your arms wrap around his neck, fingers digging into his shoulders. The hair at his nape is long enough to grab in your hand as he gently applies suction to your skin, bringing forth another moan, barely audible to the human ear. Tendrils of pleasure run down your spine as your nipples harden. You flush when you remember you didn’t put a bra on; the way your body is pressed to his, he’ll feel them through the sweater you borrowed.
His mouth finds its way back to yours as you drink him in, savouring every touch and sound. He pulls away for a second, panting as he draws in air, before admiring his work on your neck.
You stare up at him with big doe eyes, lips parted and swollen, waiting for more. Removing your hand from his neck, you bring them down to his chest where they linger for a few seconds before going to the hem of his tank top. He stops what he’s doing, eyes watching yours as they stare up at him. His breath catches as you graze a finger delicately over the skin of his abdomen. You pull on the material, as you lean up to kiss him, bunching it in your fists. Lightly, your teeth brush over his lower lip before breaking apart.
With his chest heaving, Paul allows you to remove his top. He stays utterly still, letting you take the lead. He watches as your eyes follow your fingers, watching them trace patterns across his flesh. You place a warm kiss on his shoulder as your arms slide around his neck once more.
“I need you.” The whisper tickles his ear.
You pull away a little so you can look at his face. Neither one of you speaks and yet never has your communication been better. It’s over both of your features, anyone could read it. He dips a little as his hands rest on the back of your thighs, his eye contact not once breaking from you. In one swift motion he picks you up, bringing you eye level with him. You make a yelp of surprise and wrap your legs around his wait for stability. Before you can adjust, he’s moving again.
The moss feels soft as he lays you down, his lips trailing kisses down your throat. He works lower and lower until he finds where the sweater ends. He attacks the skin beneath, his hands gripping your hips fiercely, and works his way up, stopping just beneath your breasts. The cool air hits your skin and sends shivers over you, adding to the pleasure.
You make a sound of disappointment as he leaves your breasts and comes back up to kiss you. He plants one last peck on your pink lips before pushing up on his forearms.
“We need to stop.”
You pull him down by his neck and kiss him again.
“We really need to stop.” He says between your assault of kisses.
Catching him off guard you push him over and straddle his waist. Your mouth trails across his chest before he sits up, forcing your mouth upwards to his once more. You can’t ignore his hands that ride up your back, feeling the soft skin beneath the sweater. He certainly knows that you’re not wearing a bra now. If only he’d slide his hands round and touch you. You ache for him.
A whimper escapes your lips as you think about what you need, earning a growl from deep within Paul, that responds to you.
“We have to stop.” he’s breathless so he loses all sense of command.
“But-” You start to whine. The temptress within wanting full control.
“The forest isn’t appropriate, who knows who can hear.”
You’re far enough from the cabin that they surely can’t hear you. Yet some part of you wonders if they could.
“So we talk then.” You suggest, still trying to catch your breath and calm down.
“Sure.”
You make no effort to move off his lap, liking his embrace. You both take a few minutes to regain some normal sense of thought.
“You said before about soulmates.” He nods, urging you on “Well, maybe I believe you.”
He bursts into laughter, his whole body shaking underneath yours. You admire the way his eyes crinkle with happiness and the smile lines that appear in this moment of joy.
“There are things I don’t understand though.”
Paul leans back on his arms, taking in the view before him. His eyes rove up and down and a sense of accomplishment fills him at the sight of your flushed, dishevelled appearance.
“You’re distracted, I can see. Maybe now isn’t the appropriate time to talk about this.” You suggest, slighting annoyed he can’t compose himself. He grabs your hands, stopping you from getting up.
“I’m listening.”
“Is this a cult?” You blurt out.
Again he starts laughing. Big belly aching laughs that thunder across the clearing. You hit him playfully on the arm, hoping he can cut the crap.
“I’m serious!”
“Oh you are, are you?” he chuckles. “No, my friends and I aren’t in a cult.” The laughter remains in his eyes and sparkles.
“That’s it?”
“There are some things that I can’t tell you.” he watches your face screw up in confusion. “Don’t look at me like that,” he sits back up and brushes his thumb across your pout. “Do you trust me?” He kisses you.
It sounds ridiculous but you do. You trust him with your life. Deep in your heart you know he’ll keep you safe and love you, even if it is in this weird way.
“Just know that it’s nothing bad”
“Hmmm, at least tell me what’s up with the nakedness.” He pulls away from kissing you, “Don’t think about lying. You ran off in the storm while your clothes stayed on the porch… You’re always walking around half dressed and somehow don’t freeze. What’s up with that?”
“There’s no way I’m gonna come off as anything but crazy.”
“I’m fully prepared.” You smile in reassurance.
“We’re at one with nature. There’s nothing more freeing or grounding than being a naturist.”
“Weirdos,” you joke. A blush creeps up your neck as you imagine Paul as Jared had been today.
“Don’t be naughty.” Paul chides.
“I don’t know what you’re on about.” You stick your tongue out.
He makes a humming sound, not believing a word you say before planting kisses to your neck again.
“I’m sure you weren’t thinking inappropriate things in the slightest.” He teases. “My turn to ask a question.”
“Go on”
“Talked to Sarah yet?”
In one simple question, your mood completely shifts. The warm fuzzy haze you had been in swept away by the blistering cold glooming melancholia of the Sarah situation.  You roll your eyes before sighing.
“She’s ignoring me.” You pull your lips into a tight line. “I probably need to just turn up at her house.”
“Something tells me Sarah’s not the kind that enjoys being bombarded.”
Something clicks with what he’s said. The amount of times Sarah’s warned you.
“Do you two know each other?” His eyes shift colour, the playfulness dashed by something cold.
“I knew her Sister.”
“She never said, she only warned me-”
“To stay away from me, right?” You nod a reply. “Figures.” He sighs loudly “I had a lot of anger issues growing up and got in trouble once… or twice.” He must have seen the look on your face because he added “I never hurt her though, if that’s what that look suggests.”
“No, no, I um… How well did you know her? The sister I mean…” You stare down at your hands that lay on your lap.
“Now who’s jealous.” He strokes a stray piece of hair behind your ear.
“So there’s a reason to be jealous?”
“It’s in the past, well in the past. And it meant more to her than me.” He stares at you for minutes as silence settles, unable to take it anymore he breaks it.
“You ever hurt anyone?” You hated asking, but felt the need to.
There's a dead silence that emanates from him.
“Yes.”
“Would you have hurt Jared today?”
He looks up at you, eyes full of sorrow.
“We’re a physical bunch. He’d have put up a good fight.”
“You’re bigger than him.” You point out, surprised at the honestly coming from him.
“We’re brothers. I’d only have whooped his ass a little, teach him to hit on my girl.”
“Too much testosterone in the group,” You joke.
He doesn’t laugh, doesn’t even try to acknowledge the humour you used to try to lighten the subject. He only sighs deeply, his whole body deflating as his eyes drain of light.
“What’s wrong?” Your hands rest on his shoulders before they cup his face, giving it a playful squeeze. “Talk to me.”
Before he even answers you know his sadness; feel it echoed in your own heart. You’d never felt abandonment before but recognised the fear as quickly as it arrived. Your hands slide down his arms, stroking soothing circles before wrapping his big hands in your delicate ones.
Gently you place a kiss on both his hands and then rest your forehead against his. Looking deep into his eyes you feel a bridge, tiny and invisible, that connects the two of you. Electricity surges back and forth along the sinew of this soul bridge and for a moment you breathe as one.

Forks, Washington - June 27th 2006
Y/n L/n had just moved to Forks, Washington. She was what you could call a happy-go-lucky type of person, she was unfazed by all the negative things that would go on around her. All she wanted to do was live like there was no tomorrow, to live in the moment. Her sunshine like attitude caught the attention of a certain group of pale students at the back of the cafeteria, she had noticed them on her first day; there were six of them around the circular table but only five of them truly stood out. Their eyes were the colour of topaz, as if they were crafted out of the finest crystal. The group had their eyes trained on Y/n, she felt exposed under their intense stares but she didn't let it bother her. Instead she had left her group of newly found friends and walked over to the group of students at the far end of the cafeteria.
Edward was the first to notice Y/n, her thoughts louder than the rest of the students yet they were so calming. She was different from anyone he had ever met. When she had finally made her way over to the group, all their heads snapped in her direction. Alice knew this was going to happen, the pixie like Vampire was ecstatic to finally have another friend that would like all the same things as her. Alice was the first to speak up "Hello! I'm Alice and this is my family. This is Jasper and over there is Edward and Bella, and this big man-baby is Emmett and Rosalie is right beside him. It's so nice to finally meet you, Y/n." The h/c girl had a small smile on her face as she spoke to the Cullen's, she was practically bouncing off the walls when Emmett had asked if she wanted to join them.
Jasper was trying his best to control himself but it was hard, the thick scent of iron filled his senses. Edward was about to drag him out the cafeteria and away from everyone but Y/n had interrupted him from doing so. "Jasper? Are you okay? You don't look too good." She placed her hand on his shoulder, the Cullen's were now on edge; what if Jasper lashed out and exposed them all? Instead, he turned to look at the girl beside him and smiled at her. He could feel all of her emotions radiating off of her and it helped ease him just a little bit, she was like a walking shot of espresso; jolting his body awake by just one look.

Cullen House - July 20th 2006
Y/n had known the Cullens for about a month, she was at the Cullen home when she had first met the Pack. Y/n knew what the Cullens were, her reaction surprised the vampire family.
Tumblr media
Edward had asked Y/n to come over one weekend, telling her Alice needed help packing for their trip to New York next week. Y/n being a good friend, had rushed over as soon as possible to help the vampire. When she had arrived, Edward was sat on the steps of the porch, his eye's were a little darker than the last time she saw him. Y/n made her way over to him, all Edward could hear was her thoughts running a mile a minute. Did I take a shower today? Wait I didn't leave to stove on did I? Shit what if I did? Edward loved her thoughts, they were amusing to say the least. Y/n had sat down beside him, her arm brushed against his own, the feeling of warmth eased the forever coldness he felt. Is he cold? Should I hug him? Before Edward could tell her he was okay, Y/n had draped her arm over his shoulder, pulling the taller boy into her side. If he were human he knew for sure his heart would be hammering against his chest right now. The duo stayed like that until the rest of the Cullen family had came outside, finally prepared to tell Y/n everything.
The vampire family had brought Y/n to a field full of daisies, it was beautiful. The young girl was so distracted with the flowers, she had missed the way the Cullen's skin had started to sparkle. Rainbow like flex making small spots of light to fall upon her skin. When Y/n had turned around, she was stunned. The sight in front of her was undeniably beautiful. Edward had the smuggest grin playing on his lips as he read her thoughts. Holy shit. They look like fairies. Wow. Do you think they would let me touch their skin? Wait no that would be weird. Carlisle was the one to break the silence, his voice was mellow - cautious. Carlisle went on to explain how him and his family were vampires, they had lived all over the world and had only recently settled down in Forks. Y/n listened carefully to each word Carlisle spoke, she was intrigued and fascinated by them. The Cullens all stood waiting for Y/n to freak out like Bella had done but she never did, a grin stretched on her face as she rambled on about if they had special abilities or if they had any secret talents. "That's so freaking cool ! Wait, so are you guys allergic to garlic? And can you see yourselves in the mirror?" Edward had laughed at what Y/n said, never has anyone actually asked them those questions but he knew they had all wanted to know.
Tumblr media
Edward smiled at the memory, Y/n was unlike anyone he’s ever met; she was so carefree and such a delight to be around. A knock at the Cullen door broke Edward out of his thoughts, Alice had gone to open it letting whoever it was, inside. Jacob Black had emerged from the outside, the stench of campfire and damp logs filled the vampires senses. As much as they had grown to tolerate the shapeshifters, they wouldn’t ever be able to handle the smell of them. The rest of the pack had filtered into the house and spread around the living room. Leah was pushed into the furthest corner of the room talking to Embry, she was the only shifter that still hadn't grown used to the Cullens; she still hated them. The sound of laughter pulled the attention of everyone in the room, Y/n and Emmett walked through the door in a fit of giggles. Y/n had leaves and twigs in her hair while Emmett had torn the side of his shirt. From the looks of them, you wouldn't believe Emmett had fallen out off a tree along side Y/n.
Carlisle looked at the pair of teenagers, his brows furrowed as he questioned what had happened. Y/n, with a big smile of her now flushed face, had went on to explain everything. "So, me and Emmett were outside and I saw the most angelic Songbird and I wanted to get closer to it. Emmett suggested climbing the tree it was sat in and we did but apparently Emmett over here." She said, pointing at the muscular vampire beside her "forgot to tell me some of the branches are prone to breaking, so we fell out the tree." The pair burst out laughing again, clutching on to their stomachs. "We landed on the rose bush outside, Esme I'm so sorry for ruining your roses. I will help you plant some more." Esme waved the girl off, telling her it was no trouble and as long as she was safe and sound, that's all that mattered to her. Y/n had gone to clean up when Jacob questioned the Cullens about who she was and why they had another human around them. Sam was the first to point out how ridiculous it was and how if the Volturi found out about Y/n, she would be killed or worse - turned.
When the young girl had come back into the living room, she was met with a young boy, maybe a little younger than herself, holding back a girl who seemed to be his sister. Y/n tried to defuse the situation by getting in front of the older woman and asking her what was wrong, trying her best to calm the woman down. Instead, Leah had turned and bolted out the house; her body violently shaking. The crisp air outside made the heat coming off her body extremely visible. Y/n, being the caring person she was, had followed after Leah; a bottle of water in hand, in case the shifter needed it. What she didn't expect was Leah transforming into a large grey wolf, the sight had startled Y/n. The rest of the pack and the Cullen's had rushed out the house, Jacob stood in front of Y/n trying to calm the situation. Leah started to snarl at everyone, her fur fluffed out as she backed away. Y/n put her hands up to show Leah she didn't mean any harm as she stepped closer. Leah felt cornered, as if she were trapped. The grey wolf lunged at Y/n in an attempt to escape and go back to the reservation, deep cuts now littered Y/n's bicep; blood seeping into her shirt. Edward had snarled at Leah, ready to attack her but Y/n stepped in front of him, her hands pressed firmly against his chest. "Get Jasper away from here, I.. I don't want him to be close to my blood." Edward shook his head, refusing to leave her. Y/n gave a look to Emmett, he grabbed his brother and brought him back inside - keeping both Edward and Jasper away from Y/n.
Leah kept as much distance away from Y/n and her pack, her ears were pinned flat against her head as she whimpered. Y/n slowly walked over to the wolf, a blanket now in hand as she draped it over Leah's form. "Hey.. It's okay. You're just scared and that is completely normal. Can you please change back and we can talk about this properly?" Y/n had tried to be as careful as possible with the words she chose, scared Leah would lash out again; instead the wolf had listened to the girl beside her and shifted back, the blanket now hugged tightly around her form. Y/n had lead Leah back into the house, asking Alice if she had a change of clothes she could have. Once Leah had calmed down and changed into something more comfortable, she left the bathroom and walked back over to her pack, her head down as she tucked herself behind Sam. Y/n had Carlisle check out the cuts, they needed stitches but it wasn't life threatening. When the young girl had come back to the living room, the pack were shouting at Leah, telling her how irresponsible she was. Y/n shoved her way through the group, draping her undamaged arm over Leah's shoulders. Jacob tried to pull her away from the older girl but Y/n shook him off, telling them all to back off.
"Leave her alone. She was scared, you're all acting like you've never accidentally hurt someone before and don't lie either. Besides, I'm gonna have the coolest scar." Y/n bumped Leah's shoulder as she said it, a grin tugging on her lips. Leah looked at the girl beside her, confused why she was being so chill about it. "I don't think I ever actually introduced myself, I'm Y/n but you can call me your new best friend." Leah had laughed at that, this girl was definitely going to change their lives forever.

The Birthday Party - September 14th 2006
Y/n had known the Cullens and the pack for the last few months, she had grown quite close to both Leah and Emmett, hanging out with the pair every chance she got. Leah had become protective of Y/n, always tagging along with her no matter where Y/n had to go, even if it was just to the Cullen's house; Leah would be there.
Y/n's birthday had come around, she wasn't the biggest fan of celebrating her birthdays. She thought if you wanted to celebrate the day someone was born, then it could be any day of the year not just the exact day they came into this world. The pack and the Cullen's had planned a surprise party for their favourite human, setting everything up at Sam's house. Emily and Esme had cooked food for everyone while Alice, Bella and Rosalie planned on baking the cake - it took multiple attempts to actually get the cake right without burning it or messing the frosting up. Jasper, Emmett, Paul and Jacob were in charge of setting up the decorations with the occasional help from Leah, her telling the boys they were doing it all wrong and then proceeding to move the decorations over an inch and saying that's perfect. Sam, Carlisle and Edward set up lights in the small field behind Sam's house, declaring it was needed for extra light when they had the bonfire before opening presents. Speaking of presents, Embry, Jared, Seth and Quil were in charge of hiding them until it was time for them to be given to Y/n. But I have a feeling you would've already guessed, leaving such a big responsibility to the youngsters of the pack would turn terribly wrong. They had the bright idea of leaving them outside by the bonfire, now you're probably guessing the presents were caught on fire - no.
Instead, like every other day in Forks, it had begun to rain. The wrapped presents now soaked with rain water. Y/n had made it to Sam's house as the pack were panicking over what to do. When she entered the house, she was met with string lights hung up and a banner with "HAPPY BIRTHDAY Y/N" hung on the ceiling beam beside the kitchen. Jacob greeted Y/n, bringing her into a hug, whispering a happy birthday. Y/n had a smile on her face, she went round hugging everyone, telling them how much she was happy. Sam broke the news about the presents, he fiddled with his fingers as Y/n picked up on of the soaked boxes. She put it back down before grabbing a towel from the bathroom and placing it in front of her. Everyone stood around watching her pick up one present after the other, unwrapping them as carefully as possible. Edward and Bella's gift were first, they had gotten Y/n the CD of her favourite album; Edward knew how much she loved that specific album. Jasper was next, he was stuck on what to get her at first but then had settled on a f/c crystal pendant; Y/n had always said she loved crystals. Emmett had caught her the Songbird they had both tried to catch a couple months ago, it was blue with a brown mane and white stomach. When Y/n had seen it, a squeal erupted from her. She had jumped on the muscular vampire, wrapping her arms around his neck, repeating thank you over and over again.
Alice, being the more smarter one out her family, had gifted the girl a pack of pads, chocolate and a new blanket. Telling the girl she was going to need them in the next couple days, Y/n had thanked her and gave her a hug, telling Alice she was grateful to have someone that could see the future. Rosalie and Esme had collaborated on a gift for Y/n, they had gotten her a new sketchbook after being told how much she needed a new one after completing her old one; it was black with flowers etched on the front and back cover. Y/n had clutched the sketchbook close to her heart, expressing how much she loved it to the two female vampires. Carlise was the last of the Cullen family to give his gift to Y/n, the older vampire had wrapped the gift so neatly - a small f/c bow placed on top. Inside the box was another box, though it was much smaller and it was made of velvet. Inside the box was the most prettiest bracelet Y/n had ever laid her eyes on. It was made of a silver chain with small diamonds incrusted around a medallion, on the backside of the silver circle was the Cullen Crest; a small lion with its teeth bared, three clubs sat below it. Y/n had handed it back to Carlisle, asking if he could help them put it on. She had stared at her wrist for a couple second, her e/c twinkling with delight.
Once Y/n had gotten round to the presents off the Pack, Paul had taken his back; telling her he wanted his to be the last one to be opened. She nodded her head and moved on to Seth's gift. The young wolf had made Y/n a card alongside a photo album he must've been making; Y/n now understood why Seth was so adamant on taking pictures of her and the pack every chance he got. She flipped through the book, landing on one of the pictures that brought her the most joy; the memories started flooding back from the day at La Push Beach.
Tumblr media
La Push Beach - July 26th 2006
Y/n and the pack had gone to La Push Beach on one of the rare sunny day in Forks, the group of wolves wanted to show Y/n what cliff diving was like. They had chilled on the beach for a little while, running around and chasing after one another - then they descended to the cliff. Sam was the first to jump off the cliff, the rest of the pack followed behind; whooping as they dropped to the icy water below. Jacob stayed behind with Y/n in case she had gotten scared and wanted to back out but instead she stepped back a couple steps, allowing herself a runway before sprinting and jumping off the edge. She let out her best howl before being engulfed by the water. Jacob had followed shortly behind, already seeing the girl splashing Embry and Quil before swimming as fast as she could behind Sam. Giggles and shouts travelled around the beach as the group played around. Seth had excused himself, telling his pack he needed some water. Paul had coaxed Y/n into playing chicken fight with them, she gave in knowing it would be fun. Y/n had gotten on Paul's shoulders as Jared held Leah up on his. Then it was on. The two girls pushed and shoved each other, trying to make the other fall and in truth, Leah had almost won but Paul had a good firm grip on Y/n's thighs before she could fall back and take them both down with her. Y/n shoved Leah back with all her might, making the older woman fall into the water, alongside Jared.
Y/n raised her arms into the air and started cheering, the rest of the pack swarmed both her and Paul, applauding the pair for winning. What they didn't know though, was Seth had taken pictures. He had captured the moment forever on his camera.
Tumblr media
Y/n turned to Seth with tears in her eyes, she pulled the young wolf into a hug almost crushing him. She sniffled as she pulled away "Thank you Seth, this is so lovely." Seth had given her a shy smile before telling her it was no problem at all. Leah was next, she practically shoved the gift at Y/n, the h/c girl gladly took the gift from her and opened it. Inside was one of Leah's shirts, Y/n remembered it as the one she usually took when she would stay over at Sam's. Y/n had looked up at Leah before rushing to the bathroom to put it on, she loved this shirt so much; it was a deep brown colour and slightly loose. When Y/n had come back she was now wearing Leah's shirt, it smelled of her; bringing Y/n some comfort. Quil and Embry were next to give their gift, there were seashells in a glass jar. The same ones Sam refused to let Y/n take back from the beach, his excuse being "you have too many." Y/n wiped the tears away as she picked out a couple of the seashells and giving them to the two boys "I want you both to have one, so then we will never be apart from each other." The two wolves accepted instantly, Embry tucked his away in the breast pocked of his shirt, while Quil shoved his into the front pocket of his shorts.
Jared was next, he chucked the present at Y/n telling her to be quick to open it or he would take it back. Jared was the last to warm up to Y/n, not that he didn't like her - more like he was scared she'd do what Bella did, ditch them for the leeches. Y/n opened Jared's present, a small note sat at the bottom. Y/n had looked up at him confused, she didn't care about the gift being a note but what could it be that it was so hard for him to just talk to her about? She had opened the folded paper up and read it aloud.
"The treasure hunt has begun, now to find your present pretty girl." Y/n had the biggest grin on her face, she got up from the spot on the floor and walked over to Jared. "What's the rules, pretty boy?" She made sure to emphasise the words 'pretty boy', he wasn't going to get away with calling her pretty girl that easily - no, she was going to make sure to tease him every chance she got. Jared smirked before telling her the rules of the game. "The rules are this, you will walk around the house and I'll tell you if you're getting hot or cold." Y/n was all for it. She walked around the living room first, all she was met with was cold, colder, freezing. She then made her way to the bathroom but before she could enter, Jared stopped her. "Deathly cold, baby doll." She only grinned as she made her way over to Sam to ask for permission to look around his room, the older male gave her the all clear. Y/n made her way around Sam's room, she was once again met with cold, colder, freezing until she went passed the dresser and Jared called out from behind her "You're on fire."
She rooted through the dresser, at the back of the second drawer her fingers swiped against a small box, she grabbed it and pulled it out, showing it to Jared to which he smiled and walked back to the rest of the group. Y/n made her way back to her friends before sitting back down in her spot on the floor and opening the box, inside was one of Jared's only possessions from his mom. He never knew her really, she died when he was little and knowing he had gifted something so dear to him to Y/n had made her cry. Two hairpins sat side by side in the box, they had two crystal white pearls stuck to them. Y/n had slid the hairpins into her h/c locks, thanking Jared for the thoughtful gift before giving his cheek a kiss.
Sam and Emily had joined together to get Y/n a gift. Emily was known for being really into painting and Sam knew Y/n better than he knew himself so he told his imprint what Y/n would love and Emily had took it upon herself to paint it on a big canvas. The image in front of Y/n made her heart swell, it was Y/n and the pack on one of the day's they were free from patrol. She didn't know who took the picture for the inspiration but she loved them for it. The painting had Seth and Leah messing around as siblings do, Embry jumping on Quil while Jared had a muffin stuffed in his mouth beside them. Jacob and Paul were playing around with each other, looking like they were about to ram into the other like raging bulls in a china shop. Y/n was sat on the floor with a bunch of flowers she had picked, weaving the stems into the other to make a flower crown. Y/n got up and walked over to Emily and Sam, bring the pair into a hug telling them how much she loved the gift and how she was going to hang it in her room when she got home.
Jacob and Paul were the only ones left to give their present to Y/n, Jacob had handed over a small neatly wrapped box to her. Y/n had opened it and inside was a golden anklet with the pack crest on it along side a wolf howling. Y/n immediately put it on, adjusting it every now and then so it didn't get caught on her shoe. Paul was the last of the pack to hand his gift to Y/n, it wasn't wrapped like the others. She held the small black velvet box in her hands, an envelope was taped to the side. Y/n plucked it off the box and opened it, reading it to herself.
"I don't know how I'm meant to say this but I love you, I have ever since I first met you and before you say I'm rushing into things, I'm not. I'll try to explain this as best and as fast as I can. You are my Imprint, I don't think I've ever told you what it is so I will now. Imprinting on someone isn't like love at first sight, it's more like.. gravity moves suddenly. The centre of the earth no longer holds you, it's her.. it's you, Y/n. I don't need to be your lover, I can be anything you want me to be.. A friend or a protector. Every time I look at you, I see our future together. You look happy, we even start our own family but that's not for a good few years. You are my world and everything more, I would die for you if that's what needed to be done, I'd live for you if that's all you wanted. Now open the box, my love."
Y/n had opened the velvet box, a small silver ring sat in between the two cushions. It had two stones in the middle, one a dark silver and the other, f/c. Y/n had pieced the meaning behind the colours together. The dark silver was for Paul, or at least his wolf, and the f/c was her favourite colour. Y/n looked up at Paul, her eye's glazed over. She had put the ring on her ring finger before getting up and walking over to him, wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling him down to kiss her. Cheering could be heard from around them, Emmett had the biggest grin on his face as he shouted "It's about damn time." The pair pulled away after a minute or so, their faces displayed such an intense amount of love for the other. The rest of the night was spent eating Esme's and Emily's food and chilling around the campfire after the rain had cleared up, Y/n tucked into Paul's side as both supernatural groups shared stories about their ancestors and their lives before being turned.

Embry Call x Reader One-Shot | Silence
Tumblr media
Requested by anonymous
A/N: Sorry, it's really short
Includes: Just some super short fluff
________________________________________________________________________________
"Emy?" Y/N whispered once she felt a dip in the bed.
The breathing froze, and she heard a faint gulp. "Sorry, did I wake you?" Embry asked with a wince. The girl turned around from sleeping on her side and huffed.
"No," Y/N lied, which Embry could see through. The werewolf sighed and layed under the covers next to her.
"Sorry," he frowned, and Y/N shrugged to brush it off.
"It's okay. I'm gonna have to get used to this patrol thing," the human stated.
Embry turned to his side, so their noses barely brushed up against each other. "Yeah, but you shouldn't have to. I thought when I imprinted on you that Sam would give me a little break. But I guess not," the tan boy complained, and Y/N ran a hand through his tousled black hair.
Both couldn't hold back the deep sighs that left their lips. Embry shut his eyes tightly and took a deep breath before flipping around, so his back was facing Y/N. The imprintee stared at her boyfriend's smooth caramel skin and let the temptation to touch him take over. Three of her fingers outlined his right shoulder blade, and she felt him relax a bit. He remained quiet and didn't move a muscle.
His eyes were slowly softening, but they never fully gave into Y/N's touch. Her fingers laced back into his hair, which made the werewolf hold back a shiver. He bit the inside of his cheek harshly to keep himself restrained, and his body went back to solid.
"Embry . . . ." Y/N uttered, and Embry licked his lips before slowly turning around. Both stared at each other for a few minutes. Y/N leaned forward and connected their lips to kiss sweetly. His bottom lip went between her teeth, and she pulled away. Embry's expression was priceless.
"Goodnight, Emy," the teenager mumbled and cuddled into his bare chest. Embry was still too shocked to do anything. But, he eventually wrapped his arms around her and kissed her hair.
"Goodnight, Angel."

“Prom Night” - Jacob Black
Tumblr media
Request:  The reader and Jacob are going to prom and you suprise him with your prom dress
Every little girl dreams about this night. Today was finally the day. Though, as I grew older I realized that today wasn’t going to be what I thought-- it would be far different than what my seven-year-old self would’ve expected.
Yes, I expected to be wearing a dress, a corsage on my wrist, and a handsome date to attend my prom with. I expected for me to be excited for this event, I expected excitement towards the main event of the night.
Though, if I were to be honest, the prom was no longer the main event of the night.
Ever since my life changed a year ago, my view on the world changed. I realized how sacred life was, how beautiful every experience could be. I learned that love was something beyond what I imagined. I thought love was going to be something incredible.
I was right, but I never knew how right I could be.
Jacob brought out a new side of me. Loving him was intense, it felt like I was being engulfed by something that was ten times the size of me, almost suffocating-- in the most beautiful way.
Loving Jacob was easy. Loving Jacob was beautiful. Loving Jacob was enticing. Loving Jacob was fate.
Yes I understand that I am only eighteen. However, an imprint bond is something that cannot even be described. It’s something that overpowers everything else. My senses are useless, taken over by this overpowering feeling, this strong bond.
I look in the mirror, observing the beading on my dress. The makeup on my face, the way my hair is falling upon my shoulders, draping around my back. My cousin stands behind me, fixing a bump in my hair, my hair that took her forty-five minutes.
I felt exhausted from all of this preparation. Why does it take forever to get ready for events as such? Was Jacob stressing as much as I? Was he able to get himself ready in fifteen minutes, opposed to my two and a half hours?
That’s when I heard the knocking on my front door coming from downstairs. I felt my smile beam, I felt the excitement I feel whenever Jake is around. I couldn’t wait to see him. I longed to see him handsome and dressed up, to finally feel his touch after spending the night alone in my bed for the first time in weeks.
I walk down the stairs, trying not to trip over my own feet, or the length of my gown. Jake still never saw the dress, I wanted to surprise him. Surprising Jake always gave me some joy, as his excitement would always beam from his face-- something I loved about him always.
“Oh honey, you look so beautiful.” My mom says, tearing up as I walk down the stairs.
“You really do.” My dad adds in, his eyes too beginning to well with tears.
“Thank you.” I smile at them, trying to hold my own emotions back.
That’s when I look at Jake, watching his eyes look at me like I’m the oxygen he needs to breathe. His mouth forming into a tight smile, eyes glistening with happiness. I could always count on Jake for expressing his happiness clear as day on his face.
I look at him, admiring how handsome he looks. He’s wearing all black, like we agreed upon. His long hair pulled back, looking absolutely beautiful.
“Do you like it?” I ask, slowly walking over to him. “You look absolutely amazing. I love it.” He says, bringing me into a tight hug.
“Thank you, handsome.” I say, leaving a kiss on his cheek.
“Okay, okay! Picture time!” My mother interrupts.
Jacob and I pose for what feels like hours before we’re finally able to get out of my house and head over to prom.
“(Y/N), you really do look beautiful.” Jake says as he rubs his thumb over the back of my hand, smiling to himself. His eyes seemed to dart off the road to give me another longing look.
“Thank you, Jacob.” I say, blushing like a thirteen-year-old who had just been complimented for the first time.
“I’m glad I get to spend the night with you. You’re the only reason that prom could seem fun to me.” Jacob laughed.
“Thank you. I think you’re gonna be the best part of this night, too.” I say, leaning over to kiss his cheek.
“I’m glad it was a surprise, babe. The dress isn’t what I thought of at all, it’s better than anything I imagined. You look amazing.”
I smile at him, gripping onto his hand tighter. Wondering how I could ever count my blessings enough that Jacob was in my life. Jacob was my forever. This was fate. I will never be able to understand how I have gotten so lucky, to have the privilege of loving this man.

Jacob Black X Female reader
Prompt #27: “This is NOT a double date, we are simple 3rd and 4th wheeling. You hear me!”
Tumblr media
--------------------------------------
You fell victim to peer pressure yesterday afternoon during you Honors Literature class. You cousin, Emily, had begged you to go on a double date with her. Of course, she is trying to set you up with someone that is what she always dose. But this time it is with Jacob.. Jacob black. You embarrassed yourself in front of him terribly Friday. It was a normal day you thought intel you got to lunch, that was your dignity went right down the sink.
The pack was always the rowdy group in school, which was very annoying sense you had both Paul and Jared in math class. But that was beside the point. Jacob had not been in school for a couple of months, so when he returned it felt different. You were carrying you lunch tray to your table when you locked eyes with him. A blush hit your cheeks as you put you head down to shield yourself from embarrassment. What you did not know though was that he was going to be in front of you in a split second. Tripping over nothing you spilled your lunch all over his front side. That was the last time you seen him. Sense that all happened on Friday. Let us just not talk about the fact he called after you as you ran to the bathroom to get away from everyone staring.
Today was currently Sunday, weirdly enough Jacobs been trying to see you sense Friday. To clarify you tutored him in English class, so that is why he had your phone number. You sighed staring at yourself in the mirror. Where you ready for this date? Emily was the main reason you are going. She did not even tell you it was with Jacob intel after school when you guys were walking home. You have butterflies in your stomach, and it is not the pleasant ones. Biting your lip, you took one more glance at yourself in the mirror. You looked good you thought, you had on some skinny jeans with a cream color sweater. Normal would not have busted out the nice sweater, but it was a double date. You at least wanted to try.
According to Emily, Jacob was going to pick you up at 5pm. Its currently 5:15pm... Your pacing in your living room when you hear Jacobs motorcycle pull into your driveway. Great. He walks up to the door about to knock when you answer.
“Hey! Sorry I'm late...*scratches back of head* my car wouldn’t start so I had to take the cycle.” He says looking up into your piercing Y/E/C eyes.
“It's fine, but let's just clear the air yeah?” You say putting a hand on your hip as you use the other one for gesture when you talk. “This is NOT a double date; we are simple 3rd and 4th wheeling. You hear me!” You say looking at him as a smirk forms on his lips.
“Yes, ma’am. Here is your helmet” Jacob says handing me the helmet. You giggle your cheeks flushing again as you took the helmet. Both of you making your way to the motorcycle getting on. You put the helmet on wrapping your arms around him.
“Don't get overconfident. I can hear that grin on your face” You say as he drives the both of you to dinner.
The dinner was quite nice, both you and Jacob sat right next each other. Making small talk was easy, you told him the about the drama that had happen in school when he was gone.
“So, from what I'm gathering is that everyone is having boy problems but you?” Jacob asked making you choke on your mac and cheese.
“For your information it's on purpose I'm not dating anyone. All the boys in high school are very immature. Emily can agree with that!” You point out
“I can agree, but I do have a very loving boyfriend” Emily says smiling up at Sam.
You shake your head laughing a little. “Sense you wanted to point that out Jake, then why don’t you have a girlfriend?” You ask taking a bite of your food. In the corner of your eyes you see him tense a little. He is thinking about what to say and how he says it.
“Well I do have a pretty big crush on this girl I've known for like my whole life. My only problem I think is she thinks I’m an immature boy from high school” He says
“Well I'm quite sure she probably knows you like her and is just playing hard to get. You’re an awesome guy she would be stupid to say no to you.” You say looking up at Emily who was looking between Jacob and you. Your role your eyes, you can a suspension he is talking about you.
--After dinner--
You smiled softly at Jacob as he helped you off the bike.
“I had a wonderful time” He says putting his hands in his pockets as he walks you to the front door.
“Me too.” You say tucking a piece of hair behind your ear as you walk up the stairs.
“Y/N?” He asks standing on the last step as he watches you unlock your front door.
“yeah?” You reply looking down at him. He looked charming, you just wanted to reach out and kiss him.
“You know I was talking about you right... I like you... like a lot I have ever sense 1st grade.” He says, his eyes sparkle under the glow of your porch light.
“I know kind of hard not to notice... Especially when you called after me during lunch... Maybe we should do a little more than study together? Call me?” You say smile at him as you walk inside you house.  After you close and lock the door you do a little dance.
*phone vibrates*

🍃[Never in a million years] 🍃
Anonymous said: Hello Love, i would Like to request 1 and 17 from the prompt list with Paul Lahote 😘
1: You're cold, aren't you?
17: For some reason, I'm attracted to you
Tumblr media
Paul Lahote. A hot headed twat, an annoying jerk. Someone who made you genuinely mad just by looking at him. That's all he was to you. Sadly, being close friends with jacob meant your paths would cross more often than not.
"Come on Y/N, we're going to be late!"
Jacod yelled from downstairs and you were quick to put on your jacket, grab your rather big and heavy backpack and head downstairs.
"Do we really have to go?"
You asked making a grimace. Only the thought of spending the night at the mountains caused you to shiver.
"Yes! It'll be very fun. Plus, your favourite person will be there."
"Paul?"
You asked and he just nodded laughing. Hitting his arm playfully you joined his laughter and both of you started making your way to where the others were.
Time seemed to fly, setting up the tents, goofing around with Seth and Embry and before you new it the sun had gone down. One by one everyone said their goodnights and went to sleep until it was just you and Paul. You were too focused starring at the night sky to realise that indeed, it was just you and him left. The wind blew, catching you off guard and making you shiver.
"You're cold, aren't you?"
Paul said causing you to turn to look at him. You just shook your head and wrapped your arms around yourself, trying to warm up. He sighed, moving himself closer to you, hugging you. He was so warm and being in his arms felt so comfortable.
"Why do you hate me Y/N?"
He spoke in a way you've never heard him speak again. His voice was soft and quiet and he sounded almost like he was hurting. You lifted your head, your stare meeting his. Your heart skipped a beat and you could feel your whole body heating up. This had never happened before.
"I- I don't hate you Paul.. For some reason, I'm attracted to you"
Hope you liked this! Thank you so much for requesting💚

Chosen - Wolf Pack
Tumblr media
Pairing: Wolf Pack x Reader (Platonic), Sam Uley x Reader
Characters: Sam Uley, Embry Call, Quil Ateara, Jacob Black, Seth Clearwater, Paul Lahote
Warnings: N/A
Request: @yessssqueen24: “hello if I may ask can you please write more twilight one shots or series more specifically about the twilight wolf pack if you can’t I totally understand thank you for reading this… ps you have awesome writers”
Word Count: 526
Author: Hannah
Quite a few people had told you in the past that family was the most important thing that you could have in your life – and a part of you did agree, but you’d never been especially close with your proper family.
You’d always been the ‘odd one out’ and you’d never quite fitted in with what your parents wanted for you and your siblings, so when you ended up falling for Sam and wanted to stay with him, your parents didn’t seem that bothered about leaving you behind in Forks.
However, you’d never felt more of a sense of family than when you were with the pack.
Yes, you loved Sam unconditionally, but you loved all of the pack too.
Jacob and Paul were like your overprotective older brothers; but Seth, Quil and Embry were all little brothers to you.
When it came to your wedding though, you wanted your proper family to be there, but you were unsure about whether or not they actually would.
You’d been sat on the sofa staring at the seating chart for over an hour when the pack came bounding in, picking up the food you’d left on the counter before situating themselves in various positions around you.
“You’re still looking at that?” Seth asked as he chewed some of a muffin.
Sighing, you nodded your head. “I still haven’t heard back from my brothers about if they’re coming or not – my parents are, and my little sister is but the boys just don’t want to say anything.”
Jacob took the seating chart out of your hands. “You need to have a break with this – they’ll get back to you eventually.”
“And if they don’t get back to you, then they’re the ones missing out,” Paul chimed in, crossing his arms and glaring at the seating chart as if it was your brothers.
Sam came through the door and leant down to press a kiss to the top of your head.
“Are they all annoyed at your brothers again?” he questioned as he looked to his pack.
You nodded as you looked around at the pack, all with varying expressions of annoyance.
“They won’t stop being annoyed until they reply to me, and it’s our wedding!” you said with a joking tone.
Sam laughed, shoving Jacob out of the way slightly so that he could sit down next to you.
“I think you’ll find that it’s our wedding too,” Paul spoke up with a smirk on his face.
Your fiancé rolled his eyes, but you couldn’t help but smile at your pack.
“Are you the one I’m spending the rest of my life with?” Sam quizzed, pointedly looking at Paul.
Embry chuckled as he shrugged. “Technically you are as you’re the alpha.”
“They’ve got you there my love.”
Sam looked to you in shock. “And who’s side are you on?!”
Giggling you shrugged your shoulders. “They are my pack.”
“Yeah! And she loves us,” Seth shouted out as he smiled at you.
As the boys started to bicker around you, your fiancé included, you couldn’t help but smile at your chosen family – and just how much they meant to you.

Bleacher Problems | Sam Uley X Cheerleader!Reader
Request: Can I request a Sam Uley x imprint reader who’s a super girly girl? Like the kind that adores the color pink and only wears skirts and dresses and is the cheer captain at forks high school? (The plot thickens as she doesn’t go to school on the reservation)
Genre: Fluff, Humor??
Tumblr media
You heard him before you saw him. Looking into the bleachers you were surprised to see your boyfriend Sam and his friend Paul calling out your name.
They actually showed up.
It was no secret to the pack that they didn’t love the fact that you attended Forks instead of the high school on the reservation, even after Sam imprinted on you.
“L/N, hurry we’re about to begin.” your cheer-mate Matt said, tugging you away from Sam’s line of sight, Sam felt himself grip the bouquet of flowers he brought for you a little tighter. Paul whistled, noticing how tense his alpha got.
“Relax Sam. That cheer-boy’s got nothing on you. Y/N is in love with you remember?” Sam smirks slightly and puffs out his chest, causing Paul to roll his eyes and mumble out ‘whipped’.
Before Sam could retort they’re cut off by your voice loudly beginning the cheer. The boys spot you instantly along with majority of the school because of your bright pink cheer uniform which contrasted with the rest of the team’s navy blue.
Sam remembered you complaining about how boring navy blue was and how excited you were when the school allowed you to wear a pink uniform instead.
Sam grinned because of all the jealous stares you were getting from the girls in front of him.
“How does she make that awful color look good?” Paul wondered out loud. Sam chuckled, crossing his arms.
“She can make anything look good.” He whistled loudly as he saw you flipping through the air, landing gracefully in your team mates’ awaiting arms.
“You got that right, look at that piece of work.” A voice cuts in from behind the pair, letting out a low wolf whistle when you started doing front flips. Sam growled snapping around, seeing a lanky boy with a disgusting grin on his face.
“Excuse me?” Sam says with a dangerously low voice, leaning towards the boy who’s smile didn’t falter a bit, not hearing the malice in Sam’s tone.
“Aren’t I right?” He asked, raising his eyebrows smugly.
“Yeah. But I don’t appreciate you looking and talking about my girl that way.” Sam said loud enough to draw attention to the pair, people murmuring quietly around them.
“Oh- Y-You’re the boyfriend?” He stammers, rubbing his neck nervously, realizing he could never win a fight against Sam. Paul laughs, putting a hand on Sam’s bicep to prevent him from wolfing out in the middle of the bleachers.
“Look dude, I don’t want any trouble.” The boy says, shrinking away from Sam. Sam lets out a growl of satisfaction and the people around them roll their eyes at the boy’s cowardliness, disappointed that an ass-kicking wasn’t served.
“Good. If you ever look at my girl or any girl in fact with that same disgusting look I’ll find you, and I’ll make you regret it.” Sam warns as Paul laughs never seeing his alpha this territorial before.
They turn back around in time to see the cheer squad running off, waving at the students who were cheering loudly.
“And this is why I stay on the res.” Paul mumbled under his breath, shaking his head, wondering what would have happened if he hadn’t stopped Sam.
The pair decided to wait for you at the bottom of bleachers, and soon they see  you run over, throwing your arms around Sam.
“Babe! You actually came!” Your voice is muffled in his neck. When you guys pull apart you greet Paul as Sam hands you the flowers.
“Did you like the routine?” You ask excitedly.
“Hell yeah baby, you looked great out there. Pink is for sure your color.” Sam mumbled keeping you at arms length, gripping your waist with both of his hands.
Paul scoffed, nudging Sam with his shoulder, “ Your man over here nearly pounced on some scumbag earlier.”
Scrunching your nose you turn to you boyfriend who looks smiles nervously, “He was saying some disturbing things.”
Rolling your eyes you lean up to peck Sam before throwing your arms over the boys and dragging them to the parking lot.
“Anyway, we should go to the mall, I’ve been meaning to buy a new dress.”
“Do we have to?” Paul whined, throwing his head back.
“Yes. Now shush or you’re buying your own food.”
“Yes ma’am.”

The Proposal
pairing: seth x reader
summary: Seth proposes to the reader.
warning: FLUFF OVERLOAD!!!!
w/c: 1k
A/N: I may make this into a three part series. THE PROPOSAL, THE WEDDING, THE HONEYMOON!
Masterlist
Tumblr media
Everyone was invited to the wolfpack family gathering. It was being held in the woods, lights were plastered around the trees, and the dance floor was made of complete wood from the trees. Tables with pearly white clothes surrounded that oak dance floor, it was everything you could have imagined.
“Hey (Y/N)? Can you help me hang this lantern?” Seth asked, it was only you and him here for the time being. You were both assigned decoration duty, it was pretty exciting. Seth did most of the work. It didn’t click in your mind that you would be in the woods decoring. You were too blinded by the fact that you were about to experience this grand event.
You were wearing a simple white silk dress that stopped at your knees. Cute but fancy. You sat back and watched your boyfriend do all of the work. Being the gentleman he was he didn’t allow you to do anything but sit and watch. You didn’t mind,  nothing was more admirable than seeing his arms flex in his white button-down shirt. We’re not going to talk about how his quads look in the brown slacks.
“What do you want me to do?” You hummed softly.
Seth held the lantern to the tree, “Hold this right here while I go get the hammer.”
You switched places with him, he then jumped down and ran to the table where the tools were. You continued to hum to yourself softly, occasionally looking up at the moons and the stars. It was so beautiful out here, You genuinely loved the fact that we were under the moon.
“You’ve always told me you never believed in fairy tales which is a complete lie”I looked back to see Seth propped down on one knee. My mouth dropped along with the floating lantern. Instantly I could feel tears brimming my eyes.  “This, right now, what we’re experiencing is living proof of a fairy tale. I keep telling people how I fell in love with you but in reality, I didn’t, I walked into love with you. Each step of the way you were there with me holding my hand, not once have you ever thought about leaving me. I wouldn’t be as strong as I am if I didn’t have your love to help me. I’d choose you in this lifetime, the life after this and even if I can’t find you I’ll make sure I do. I choose you and only you. You’re my world, you’re my life, you’re my fresh breath of air. You’re my everything, (Y/N) (L/N). So (Y/N) (L/N), will you do me the honor of marrying me?”
I wiped the excessive tears from my face, “Seth Clearwater, Yes! I would love to marry you.”
Before he could stand I tackled him to the ground, I could hear the pure joy of laughter escaping from his lips. You both embraced one another as you cried into his chest.
“You have to get up so I can put a ring on it.” Seth laughed, he held out his hand helping you up to my feet. Smoothly the ring went on, it glistened in the night light. It was the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen. Seth shoved his hands in his pocket, clearly, he was still nervous about proposing, “It looks better on your hand other than Jacobs.” You held my hand up in the sky in complete. You watched the tiny rainbows dance in the ring. It was more beautiful knowing that it came from the man of my dreams.
“Wait, so is there a family gathering or not?”
“Oh yeah, You guys can come out!” Seth shouted, Huh, Seth wrapped his arms around me from behind. He grinned into my neck as you watched your friends and family emerge from the woods. Everyone was smiling from ear to ear, you were pretty sure only the boys and Leach heard his speech but that didn’t matter. It was still beautiful.
“Our plan worked (Y/N)!” Sue walked up to you with her arms out, “You’re finally going to be my daughter!! Ehhhhh!” You both squealed as you embraced each other. Leah soon followed as she also embraced you as well. You all had a tiny family moment, Leah was expressing how proud she was of Seth and you couldn’t fight back my tears. She was watching her younger brother become a man, and you, his soon-to-be wife, knew it was emotional as well.
Everyone continued to approach you, with nothing but pure joy on everyone's faces. Live music started to play swiftly in the background. Everyone began to chat with one another as the party started to gear up. You placed your hands on your fiance's chest, his arms wrapped around your waist. “You’re the best thing that has ever happened to me.”
He gently placed a kiss on your forehead, “I can say the same.” Seth pulled you in the direction of the lantern that you dropped. “I have one more surprise for you.” He dusted it off, “I know how much you would love for your grandmother to be here to experience this moment.” He handed you a lantern, on it was a picture of you and your grandmother, and on the other side was a picture of Seth and his dad. “It hurts knowing that they can’t be here tonight but they’ll always be here in spirit.”
Seth pulled a lighter from his pocket and lit the candle that was placed in the middle. You held the lantern dearly to your chest as memories of your grandmother flashed in the back of your head. “You’re an amazing man Seth, she’d love you.” You whispered, you never took your eyes from the lantern, the picture illuminated in the night sky.
“Come on, let’s tell them about the great news.” Seth grabbed your hand, and he lifted it towards the sky higher and higher until the lantern floated in the air by itself. The both of you watched the lantern float into the night sky. He held you in his arms as you both watched the other lanterns join yours.

Now You Want Me? - Jacob x Werewolf!Reader
Genre - angst, fluff
Warnings - cussing, jacob black lmao
Summary - Jacob has always been obsessed with Bella, never paying Y/N any attention. Y/N’s reluctantly gotten used to this, until to their surprise Jacob suddenly turns all of his time towards them. The reason being for this leaves Y/N with a burning rage, and maybe... passion?
Tumblr media
Jacob Black.
Even just hearing his name makes me want to strangle him and then myself.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate him. Opposite, in fact. All I’ve wanted is to be his friend, but he won’t even look at me for more than three seconds before he just walks away, and I’m literally in his pack!
I didn’t do anything to him, and sometimes I wonder if he ignores me because I’m a late bloomer, I haven’t been able to shift into my form yet. Everyone knows, the whole pack knows, they’re all supportive but I can’t help but think I’m just a burden to them.
Then again, if Jacob has any free time it’s spent bothering Bella Swan, so I don’t think it’s the fact I can’t turn. He’s obsessed with her, it’s rather annoying actually. She’s with Edward Cullen, but he’s still persistent, and really it only makes me even more embarrassed that I tried — and keep trying — to get his attention.
So, here I am, watching Jacob on the front porch talking to Seth. Should I even bother again? To talk to him?
Sure, if he won’t talk to me at least I can annoy him over and over again by trying to get him to do so.
Getting up from the seat I was on, I made my way to where the two of them were, feeling the crisp breeze hit my face as I walked outside.
Seth saw me immediately, and a bright smile broke out onto his features. I returned it, giving a little wave to both him and Jacob.
“Hi guys!” I was now beside them.
“Hey Y/N! We were just talking about you!” Seth put his arm around my shoulder and ruffled my hair with his free fist. His words caught me off guard, surely Jacob wasn’t actually going along with the conversation if it had something to do with me?
“Oh really? Well, perfect timing I guess.” I looked at Jacob, hopeful that he would say something.
And he did, just not to me.
He looked at me for about two seconds before breaking eye contact and moving towards Seth again.
“I’m gonna go see what Bella’s up to.” He gave a light grin to Seth, completely ignoring me again. As he was turning away, I spoke up.
“You know she’s probably with Edward right now.”
Jacob stopped, slowly facing me. I bit the inside of my cheek, eager to see what he would do.
“I know.”
And with that, he continued to walk away from us. I watched him until he was out of eyesight, anger heating up inside my chest.
“Seth, I swear I just wanna...” I glared my eyes and put my hands up in front of my face in a strangling motion, right towards where Jacob disappeared from. “Why doesn’t he like me?”
Seth chuckled from my little action, resting a hand on my shoulder. I looked at him, a frown settled on my face from the previous events.
“I don’t think it’s that he doesn’t like you... did you wanna know what we were saying about you?”
Hm, did I?
“...Thanks Seth, but no.”
I wasn’t ready to hear what Jacob had to say about me. I knew it was probably something about how annoying I was, and I’d rather just keep annoying him without knowing he thinks I’m annoying, it takes the fun out of it.
I gently punched Seth’s chest, quickly hiding my little frown and smiling widely at him.
“I think I’m gonna go over to the beach, you wanna come with?” I changed the topic, waiting for his answer.
“Oh no, I got some things I have to do here, but I’ll be with you in spirit!” He beamed. I laughed, almost forgetting about my sadness. Seth has always been the type of person that can light up your mood with just a smile.
“Okay, see ya!” I began my short journey to La Push. It wasn’t far away at all, so I always like to travel by foot there. It also made me feel more connected to nature, which made me feel like I was speeding up the process of turning into my wolf form. Ducking around forest branches and stepping over giant limbs that had fallen, the walk was nice. It was always refreshing to be outside, I loved the feeling of the damp air and the smell of when it’s just rained, which is partly one of the reasons why I enjoyed it here so much. My thoughts of the earth seemed to distract me from Jacob, which is exactly what I wanted.
Finding my way through the clearing, I stepped out of the woods and let my feet sink into the cold sand. I took off my shoes, finally feeling a little more at ease. I took a deep breath and just let the wind overwhelm me with a positive energy, smelling the salt in the air. I walked along the side of the water until I decided to sit down in the sand.
I watched the ocean waves hit the shore, and as much as I wanted to appreciate the beauty of it, my mind kept slipping back to certain memories of a certain boy.
There was one time in particular that always played over and over again. It was about two or three years ago when this happened, but it’s still one of the best memories I have, considering the fact that Jacob actually seemed like he was having fun with me. We were only playing catch with a football, everyone else had gotten tired or wanted to do something else, so it was just us two. We were laughing and talking, and it felt so easy to do that.
To talk to him.
But then his attitude just completely changed for some reason. He had the ball, and I had the genius idea to tackle him, I mean I was not playing around... even though it was just a friendly game of catch.
He didn’t mind it though, he was having fun, I know he was. But then he got this seriously intense look on his face and said he didn’t feel good and left.
I just thought he had diarrhea or something, but I guess not.
After that he started to get distant again, more so than he already was, without any explanation as to why he was acting that way. I’ve come to terms with it, but now I’m just mad every time I see him. Mad that I’ve tried so hard and mad that I keep trying when I know nothing is going to change... and mad that he keeps doing this shit for no reason.
Not realizing how deep into my thoughts I was, the crashing sound of a huge wave caught my attention, and I saw the seagulls above the water. Good, I didn’t need to think anymore about him.
“It’s so beautiful.” I muttered to myself, a small grin settled on my mouth. “I could stay here for the rest of my life.”
Stretching out, I fully lied my body on the sand so that it was almost as if I was making angels in it, except I wasn’t moving my arms or legs. I closed my eyes, soaking in the wonderful breeze and the immaculate feeling of the dirt underneath my body. It wasn’t long before that was ruined though, because when I opened my eyes next all I saw was a body hovering to the side of me, looking straight down at my face.
“AHH!” I screamed, completely startled at the figure above me, only to calm my breathing when I realized it was Jacob. “What the fuck, man?! Warn a pal next time!”
My heartbeat was still fast, but it was slowing down. Getting up from my position and standing on my feet, I beat any excess sand off of my backside and legs that I could get off. Jacob had an amused look on his features, a tiny smirk tugging at his lips.
He sure does have the audacity.
“Don’t worry, I was just leaving.” I huffed with a roll of my eyes and began to stride past him. To my surprise, his hand gripped my wrist before I could move any further. I stopped, turning my head in his direction, an eyebrow raised in confusion.
“Wait, um, you’re actually the person I was looking for.”
Huh?
“...What?” I asked, more to myself than to him. I shook his palm off of me, and now my whole body was facing him, waiting for him to continue with whatever he was going to go on about. “Okay... that’s a shocker...”
Jacob awkwardly laughed, then stopped when he saw my emotionless expression.
“Um... I need to tell you something. I’ve been too nervous, but after talking to Seth earlier, I feel a little better about it.”
I swear to god if he tells me he’s gay... I mean good for him but it’s not that big of a deal, maybe that’s why he’s so obsessed with Bella, because he couldn’t come to terms with the fact that he likes men.
“Can... can we sit down?” He asked. I was so confused right now, but I nodded my head. Now both of us were sat on the sand, side by side. He kept glancing at me, and I could tell he was getting anxious.
“What is it? Just say it, Jacob.”
I stared at him, waiting for his response.
He took in a breath, and what he said next had me cackling with laughter.
“...I imprinted on you.”
No really, I was doubled over out of air.
“Phew!! Good one, Jacob!!” I let my chuckles die down. His eyes were slightly wide, not expecting my reaction. “Huuuuh, wow. You’re a tool, man. Ignore me for years and then insensitively joke about me? What an ass move.” At this point my smile was gone when I said the last few words.
“Y/N, I’m not joking. I know I’ve been a jerk and I’m sorry, but it’s true! Can we please start over?” His face showed no ‘ha! just kidding, you’re dumb!’ look at all, it was completely serious.
“...I’m sorry, what?” I was livid. “What?!?” I yelled, jumping up on my feet. He followed my actions.
“Y/N I—”
“No! Shut up!” I cut him off. “You do not get the right to do this! You’ve been obsessed with Bella for literal years! And now you want me?!?”
He didn’t say anything.
Good.
“What is your problem!? You think me knowing that you imprinted is gonna magically change things? IT MAKES THEM WORSE, JACOB! You think you have some sort of moronic wolfy claim over me? Like I said, you’ve been OBSESSED with Bella Swan, and NOW you wanna pay attention to me? NOW you wanna be nice to me?” I screamed at him. “Fuck you!” I walked away from him.
“Wait! Y/N!!” Jacob tried to grab me again. I turned around and slapped him straight in the face. He let go, his head turned from the impact and a red print already starting to form.
“...Leave me alone.” I said defeated, my voice quiet.
And with that, I walked back into the woods and left Jacob standing there. I didn’t know where I was gonna go, but I didn’t want to go back home yet in fear that I would just see him sooner than I wanted to, or was ready to.
He imprinted on me? Since when? I still had so many questions for him but my anger wasn’t going to let me get them answered at the moment.
The sun was setting, and it was getting dark. I knew I probably needed to head back but I can’t, not now at least. Besides, it was good to get a long walk in and empty my mind, especially after what just happened. Though I doubt I’ll be able to stop thinking about the previous events, that was practically impossible. I just needed to ponder on it some. Was I too harsh? No. No. He deserved it. Of course I’ll talk to him later, but he needed to be put in his place and I did a fantastic job of doing that in my opinion.
Around thirty minutes had passed before I came to an opening. There was the main road. I wasn’t ready yet, so I kept going forward. No one was coming, not that my eyes could see anyway. But just because you can’t see something doesn’t mean it isn’t there. I was halfway across the road when I saw the bright lights coming towards me at what was definitely faster than what the speed limit here was. There was no way I’d be getting out of this one, not without my wolf, and well...
I don’t even have my wolf.
I was basically a deer in headlights, literally. Except I wasn’t a deer. My eyes were wide and I stood there in shock, not really processing what was about to happen. A car was deadlining it towards me at a very high speed.
I was surely dead, even if I tried to jump out of the way, I’d be too slow.
I glared at the brightness of the lights, and my heartbeat sped up as I was sure I’d meet a certain death.
I braced for impact, but just as the car was about to hit me another force knocked me out of the way. It was soft, and large. But I still ended up rolling across the road and scraping myself up, though I would much rather have this than a casket.
“Uuugh.” I groaned, rubbing my head and sitting up against the tree that had stopped my movement. I looked, squinting as my eyes adjusted to whatever had just happened.
A wolf stood in front of me, pushing my hand with its head. I guess not just a wolf, but Jacob.
I couldn’t say thank you, that’s just embarrassing after what he did, but a slight wince left my lips. He got down on all fours, lowering his head. I knew what he wanted, so I steadily moved towards him, climbing up and situating myself to where I wouldn’t fall off of him when we started moving. I held on as he made his way through the forest, swiftly and quickly going back home.
This is not the way I wanted to see him next, and I have no idea what I’ll say whenever he changes back. I wasn’t ready, I’m not ready.
Not too much time passed before I could see the lights from the house. At least I’d be able to be in the comfort of my own home.
Jacob came to a stop and I slid off, sore from scraping everything up. I made my way to the porch, not waiting on him. I sat down in one of the rocking chairs, watching as Jacob turned back into his regular self. He walked over to me, concern written all over his features.
“Y/N, are you okay?”
“I’m fine.”
He looked at my arms and my legs, clearly noticing the small scratches here and there.
“Wait here.” Jacob went inside to do whatever it was he was doing. He’s told me to wait so many times today, it’s annoying.
I was contemplating the entire day when after a few minutes passed Jacob finally came back out with alcohol and a cloth in hand, as well as a cup in the other.
“Here, for you.” He smiled, handing me the cup which was actually filled with hot chocolate. He even put the individual little marshmallows in it. I couldn’t help but form a tiny grin on my lips.
“Oh, um, thank you.” I appreciated his efforts at making me feel better, even though he was the reason this all started. I took a sip of the warm and comforting drink, immediately feeling some of my muscles relax. He dragged another chair next to mine, pouring some of the alcohol onto the soft fabric. I didn’t protest when he gently took my forearm, pressing the damp cloth to the scrape.
It stung a bit, but it was nothing I couldn’t handle.
“I’m sorry.” Jacob spoke, looking me in the eye.
“...I know.” I replied. “Why didn’t you tell me sooner? How long has this been the case? I just need answers Jacob.”
“And I will give them all to you, I promise.” He moved on to the next scratch. “To be honest, you intimidate me. I imprinted on you a while ago, and I mean a while ago.”
I took in this information, still confused.
“So you acted against your own instincts to protect and cherish me... your destined mate, and instead focused all of your time and energy on a girl who’s with somebody else?”
“Well, when you put it like that...”
He strayed off his sentence. I chuckled.
“I think it’s because I was so nervous around you that I kept trying with Bella. I wanted something so badly with you that I wouldn’t even let myself have it because I was scared if I tried it wouldn’t work.” Jacob continued.
“Oh, please,” I scoffed, “I think you’ve been so obsessed with Bella because you couldn’t handle the fact that the girl you thought you liked was already in love with your natural enemy.” I glanced at him. “So you forgot about the person you actually liked... at least I hope you actually liked them...”
Jacob stopped his work on my arm, meeting my gaze.
“Of course I liked them, and I still do. I still really, really do.”
I smiled at his indirect confession, I knew he was talking about me.
“You know, I can’t tell if you’re pretending to be dumb or if you really are just stupid enough to do what you did this whole time.” I was joking around with him, the grin still on my face. “We could’ve been something by now.”
“We still can be something?” He said, but it was more of a question he asked me.
“...Yeah.”
This made him beam, a wide smirk appeared and his eyes twinkled.
“I promise to protect you, and cherish you, and—”
“Woah buddy, we’re not exchanging vows. Even though we grew up together, we’re still basically strangers.” I informed him. “So let’s take it slow and do this right.”
He nodded his head in agreement, his smile still plastered on his face. I let out a little giggle, excited that I was finally able to have a connection with him, that’s all I ever wanted.
“Hey Jacob...” I said. He hummed in response.
I leaned forward, giving him a tiny peck on the cheek. This surprised him, but he was more than ecstatic to get it. His giddiness amused me, and I was also happy to be growing our relationship together.
“Now... will you make me another cup of hot chocolate?” I held my mug out, a grin resting on my features. Jacob gladly took it out of my grip, getting up in the process.
“Of course, anything for you. I’ll make it extra special with a little dash of love.”
I let out a loud laugh as I watched him disappear through the door. Today was rough, but at least it’s ended on a good note.
Jacob and I were getting close, something was blooming between us, and that’s more than I ever could have asked for.

← Chapter 7 ▪️ Chapter 9→
-----
Mortified. That’s what you felt while still standing between his legs in his embrace, listening to the storm rage outside while all of a sudden there was a deep rumble that came from inside you. You winced against his chest hoping he hadn’t heard or that perhaps he would pass it off as thunder. Then it happened again, but this time it was fiercer and you’re pretty sure your entire stomach vibrated with the sheer force. If he hasn’t heard, he’ll have felt the tremor.
God. That’s so unattractive.
You feel Paul stroke hair away from your face and tuck it behind your ear. Despite appearances you’ve come to find him a gentle being, or maybe that’s because these gentiles involve you. You look at him, both studying each other as the desire to kiss him again drives you crazy. Just as you decided to make a move a third rumble sounds which brings a playful smile to his mouth.
“You’re hungry…” he rests his forehead against yours, sounding deflated.
“No, that wasn’t-” your stomach interrupts. You bite your lip to stop from laughing “okay, maybe a tiny bit” you admit, realising you hadn’t eaten all day. “Not that I’m asking, no expecting, you to feed… well I’m not starving… I can wait, it’s my fault for not-” you’re interrupted once more as he tenderly places a kiss on your lips before brushing his nose against yours.
“You’re cute” he kisses you again as his hands squeeze your waist. You lean into him, deepening the kiss. “As much as I’m enjoying this” he kisses you again “feeding you…” his lips travel along your jaw and start to descend your neck “ …my top priority…” he takes a playful nip at the love bite in the crook of your neck, making you jump at the change in contact.
“Ouchie” you jump away from him, playfully pushing his arms away.
“That’s one way to get you moving” he teases, arms returning to the furniture he’s leaning on. The muscles flex under the skin, a move you feel is utterly deliberate and meant to have you melting. You stick your tongue out as you back away, knees knocking against the bed frame forcing you to sit. You bring one leg up onto the mattress, placing the foot against the opposite thigh. Your fingers start playing with the hem of the sweater you wore as your eyes bore into him, with such intensity he could swear you were his mortal enemy, harbouring dark feelings towards him.
“What?” Your hands fly to the side, smacking the bed sheets. The corner of your mouth upturns ever so slightly despite your hardest to keep a straight face.
“I can never tell with you…” he shakes his head and walks towards you, dropping to his knees with graceful surety. Warmth spreads through your legs as his hands find a home on your thighs. He’s face to face, staring at point blank range into your eyes “...I should always be able to, but it comes and goes…” You strain to hear his whispering as he thinks aloud.
“You’re not a superhuman” you joke, your voice bringing him out from his mindful trance.
“Huh?” he questions, a stunned look across his face, as if someone had just slapped him.
“I said you’re not a superhuman!” you reiterate, noticing the twitch in the corner of his mouth as if trying to suppress a smile, ignoring it you move on “Just do what every other human does, ask questions. You know, like how are you? What’s going on…” you start listing off examples as he moves in closer again. You’re suddenly aware that he’s between your legs and your mouth feels drier than a desert. “... or um, how are you feeling?” you swallow as you lose concentration, your eyes fixated on his lips.
“And how are you?” he questions, cockiness to his tone. The grip on your thighs tightens slightly.
“How am I what?” You swallow, trying your hardest to moisten your mouth.
“Feeling.” He suggests, eyes roaming your face for an answer despite it being obvious from the pink blush of your cheeks and the change in breathing, which brings him joy to no end.
“Oh, um…” you drag your eyes away from his lips to see him studying you. The colour of your cheeks deepens as you're caught red handed, your desire evident. “I think you know…” you trail off while leaning forward into him.
“Mhmm, you’re feeling hungry.” He teases as you roll your eyes in response. Momentarily he sucks his teeth while thinking of a solution. You’d guessed there would be no food here, judging by the lack of facilities. “Okay.” He stands in one swift motion, and heads into the gloom of the main room. You follow, propping yourself against the doorframe. The air feels colder in here, your breath crossing in front of you in smokey tendrils.
“What are you doing?” you ask, bemused, as you watch him move around like a headless chicken. Surprised, you watch him produce an apple from the pocket of a discarded jacket. He pads over to you, leaving footprints in the dust covered floor, and presents the fruit to you with a wave of his hand.
“Surprised I had anything?” he chuckles, holding it up to your face.
“No, more surprised that you own a jacket since I’ve ever seen you wear a top.” You take the apple from him, a cheeky smile on your face. Nevertheless, you don’t forget your manners and give him a grateful thank you. He leans down and plants a kiss on your forehead, a gesture that's becoming increasingly welcomed by yourself, before heading towards the front door. “Where are you going?”
“Source more food” he yells over the noise of the storm.
“You can’t go out in that!” He turns to face you, hand opening the door, and gives you a cheeky wink before delving head first into the storm. Finding it hard to believe he would venture out in this weather, you gingerly make your way to the door, stepping in patches that had less dust to avoid dirtying your feet as much as possible. You greatly underestimated the force of the storm as you opened the door to peek. It flies backwards slamming into the wall, as the wind whips your wet hair around causing it to slap against your face.
“Paul?” you yell, your hand flying up to shield your eyes from the rain which pounds down, driven in by the ferocity of the storm. You jump backwards as something wraps around your leg. “What the hell!” you shriek, confusion sweeping over you. A pair of very wet shorts clings to you after having been blown in off the porch. If you weren’t mistaken, they were the shorts Paul had been wearing, but they can’t be. Why on earth would he take them off? Before getting absolutely drenched you fight the storm to close the front door and then battle the wet material of the shorts as you pull them from you. Having caught a chill from the open door you make your way back to the bedroom and decide to get under the covers after deeming them clean enough. You sit crossed legged against the headboard, the duvet pulled up under your arms as you munch on the apple utterly perplexed by the events of the day and feeling exhausted. You don’t remember falling asleep but you must have as a loud knock wakes you.
Footsteps sound in the other room as someone goes to answer the door, a second loud knock resonating through the building. You strain to hear voices, still half asleep and content to stay that way. Despite the worst of the storm passing, it was still nigh on impossible to hear much over the sound of the wind against the old house. You settle back into the comfort of the bed and pull your legs towards your chest for warmth. You’re aware of someone entering the room and are comforted by their presence. The bed dips beside you as they sit down. Gently a hand pushes hair behind your ear and you feel hot breath hit your cheek.
“Are you still hungry?” Paul’s familiar deep voice whispers, tickling your ear as he does so. With your eyes still closed you nod against the pillow, the faint pain of hunger eating away at your stomach but the desire for five more minutes of sleep fighting all else. “Embry brought the truck over, the rain is still coming down quite heavy.”
“Mhmm” you open your eyes at the mention of Embry and scan the room. To your relief he’s not in the room with you both. “I fell asleep” you inform Paul, still in a daze.
“So you did” he chuckles and you sit up and face him. “Ready?” he smiles, taking in your appearance. He can’t deny the sight of you in his bed drives him crazy especially when you look all cute and sleepy, but the need to look after you overcomes any desires that build up.
“Not really.” You look down at your attire and shiver at the sight of bare legs. Your clothes will still be soaked through so not much can be done. Paul wraps an arm around your waist and one under your legs before shifting your weight to sit on his lap. Softly he kisses your cheek.
“You look gorgeous, just saying.” he plants another kiss, this time on your lips “I’ve wanted to do that for the past hour” he admits before stealing another kiss. Satisfied he stands up still carrying you and heads for the door.
“I do have the use of my legs you know.” you point out but think better of protesting as you remember the dirty floor.
“What you don’t have is a pair of dry shoes though.” Somehow he manages to juggle carrying you and the opening and closing of the front door simultaneously. Yes he physically looked strong but you’re starting to realise that his looks were deceiving and don’t show the half of it.
The rain had stopped but the wind was stronger than ever. You wonder how this ramshackle house is still standing. You watch it as Paul carries you away, sadness filling you as you cling to him. Questions circle your brain. What is this building? Does he live here? But it's empty, I wouldn’t even call this the bare necessities… Secretly you hope that it’s some renovation flip project and that he has a warm cosy place to live, perhaps with family; a mother who likes to cook and always has food on the table, the father welcoming and making dad jokes all the time, but something about the scenario you put together doesn’t feel right for Paul. Instinctively you hold onto him tighter and you feel his grip on you tighten in response. Turning your head you spot the truck, it's battered but looks like it’ll do the job for offroading as there appears to be no tarmac in sight. A glance at the ground would show a makeshift driveway, put together with mud and gravel, but anyone would be forgiven for missing this as the weeds and long grass have completely enveloped it.
“I thought you said Embry was here?” you ask, confused as he’s nowhere to be seen as Paul opens the passengers side door. Your eyes briefly scan the surroundings but are distracted as Paul starts to strap you in, his hands brushing your bare skin. Goosebumps follow in the wake of his touch. “I can do that” you offer, taking the seat belt from his hands. His eyes briefly flicker to the goosebumps before letting you finish the job. Neither of you say anything as he shuts the door and goes around to the driver's side, pushing a pile of clothes into the middle of the bench seat so he could have more room. You take in Paul’s appearance, noticing he’s wearing a tank top and a different pair of cargo shorts from earlier. So had the pair that attached to your leg earlier been his after all?
“You okay?” he asks as he starts the engine, noticing your quietness.
“Yeah, just in a sleepy zone” you lie, the cold of the wind had made damn sure to fully wake you. Instead you were contemplating what the significance of the constant discarding of clothes could be. Were they naturalists? Surely Embry hadn’t driven here to then decide he’d prefer walking miles in the cold with no clothes?! That’s if the pile of clothes are his. You spend the drive leaning against the window, feigning tiredness, all the while trying to find a reasonable explanation for the oddities. It doesn’t take long to recognize where you are, especially when Sarah’s car comes into view. You stifle a groan as you once again look down and take in your appearance, knowing what Sarah would think with you turning up in his clothing. You realise that Paul is staring before he reaches over and touches your thigh which brings your attention to him.
“No one will care or even notice.” He calmly tells you as if able to read your mind.
“I can think of at least one person that will have something to say.” You argue, eyes straying from his as you imagine the embarrassment in store.
“Hey” he squeezes your thigh before leaning over and softly kissing your forehead. Instinctively you close your eyes and drink in his scent, savouring every moment as he moves in closer. “We can go, but Em is a good cook…” At the thought of food your stomach rumbles and all other thoughts are expelled from your mind. You let out a noise of longing as you imagine what could right now be on the dinner table, your gaze straying from the man beside you to the warm glow of the cabin in the woods.
“It wouldn’t harm just popping in, saying hello…” you suggest.
“Mhmm” he chuckles “Of course only to say hello” he mocks before exiting the vehicle to come get you from the passenger's side. The door opens and immediately the wind pushes inside, stealing any warmth that had generated in the cab. You shiver then shimmy to the edge of the seat before swinging your legs over. A pleasant shock erupts across your nerves as your knees come into contact with Paul, his warmth unbelievable in this miserable weather. “What do you think? Five or ten minutes? Is that long enough just to say hi?” he continues the joke, a playful smile tugging at his lips.
“Shut up” you insist as you pull on his shirt, catching him off guard with a kiss. He leans in to deepen it, hands planting themselves into the seat either side of you. Your tongue runs along his bottom lip causing him to break from you. You notice how deep his breathing is as he rests his forehead against yours with eyes tightly closed as if in pain. To soothe him you place a kiss on his neck just under his jaw, where you fit perfectly like part of a jigsaw; as if made for him. He sucks in a sharp breath which confuses you. “What’s wrong?” you ask, worry evident in your tone.
Paul finally opens his eyes, a smile once again playing across his features. He expels a sigh before tucking loose hairs behind your ears. “Nothing is wrong my sweet girl.” You blush at his use of the phrase my girl with a sense of elation spreading from your chest. “I’ve never been good at restraining my impulses and you’re testing each and every one of them.” He laughs but you can sense the warning that hides beneath the surface.
“Let's go say our hellos then.” You try to bring the focus back to something lighter but you can’t help from feeling curious at the mention of his so called impulses. In one motion he picks you up, gently removing you from the truck. This time you remove an arm from his neck to close the door as he walks you past to the stairs of the cabin. “Put me down on the porch please” You tell him as you reach the final step. “Let's try to draw the least amount of attention possible”. You explain.
As gently as he picked you up, he places you back on your feet, the wooden porch feeling rough underfoot. You squeeze his hand to give him a silent thanks. He reciprocates the motion before leading you to the door. The sound of twigs snapping makes you dart your gaze towards the treeline. For the briefest second you think you see eyes glowing in the gloom but they’re gone in a blink.
“Did you hear-” you start to ask, realising it was probably normal to hear that out here amongst the wildlife. Just as you move your gaze back to Paul you hear the door of the truck slam shut. Paul’s head briefly glances towards the vehicle affirming the noise in your head, but he doesn't give it more than a few seconds' attention before continuing to lead you into the cabin. It feels like he’s rushing you inside which piques your curiosity. You look through the open doorway but all you see are branches swaying on the trees from the wind. Or as if they’d been disturbed by something. And then the view is cut off as Paul closes the door. The distraction had stopped you worrying until this moment. The sound of chatter and laughter fills your ears, your back facing the crowd around the table. Paul watches as you turn to face them all and senses you relax as the group pays no attention to you both. He places his hand on your back, urging you on.
“Don’t be shy” he leans down to whisper. Familiar eyes catch yours from across the room as Sarah looks up from the table for a second, noticing how you blush as he whispers in your ear. You move in unison, holding his hand while examining the table and kitchen counters as copious amounts of food sit on serving plates. Paul grabs the last clean plate before dragging you towards the food.
“What do you want?” he asks, eyeing you from his high vantage point. You move in closer to his body, wrapping yourself around the arm you’d been holding. Hiding his true motive from the rest of the room, he leans down to kiss your head, getting close enough to whisper so only you can hear. “Someone’s gone all shy.” He wasn’t mocking, his tone was comforting, his enclosed hand rubbing circles on yours with his thumb. Unable to speak, you nod to his statement. You hear him make a hum of acknowledgment as he thinks. “Squeeze my hand if it’s something you don’t want.” He tells you as he puts the plate down to pick up a serving spoon. It really being a two handed job, it takes a while, but he doesn’t mind as keeping you comfortable is equally as important as feeding you. Feeling brave you peek behind you, relaxing in the knowledge that absolutely no one is paying attention. Ever so slightly do you loosen your grip on Paul but never do you entirely let go.
The front door slams open, startling you, as Embry walks in, pulling a T-shirt over his head at the same time. The very shirt that had been in the truck a few minutes ago. Everyone watches as he makes an ordeal of his entrance, struggling to get his head through the hole. You make a mental note that Embry is probably the comic of the group.
“Goddamn is it windy out there!” he yells as his head pokes out the top of the shirt. His foot finds the door and it once again slams as it shuts. His eyes make contact with yours, a million questions swimming in the deep depths of your irises. As you begin to purse your lips in preparation for your questioning his eyes travel to Paul. “Oh hey Paul!” he greets, “Hope you’ve left some food” an underlying tone of sarcasm laces his words before he heads across the room, avoiding your gaze. You notice another pair of eyes looking at you questioningly. Sarah glances between you and Embry and then back to Paul, a million questions also plaguing her. She takes a sip from the mug in her hand and raises an eyebrow as she comes to a conclusion, one which you’ll likely not enjoy.
Pulling you away from her glare, Paul settles against the counter with you between his legs, and finds a way to hold the plate and you in his arms simultaneously. You pick at the food but with him sharing it, you find the plate is empty before long and discarded on the counter next to you, allowing him to properly hold you in his big arms which are folded over your tummy. Nervously you trace patterns across the tanned skin of his forearms as you lose yourself to memories of the last time you’d been in this kitchen with Paul and the kiss you almost shared, which wads you to the kisses that you’ve shared this day, the echo of his lips against yours, hot with desire. A flush creeps up your neck at the thoughts as you lean your head back against his chest, eyes peering up at him. You noticed him engaged in conversation with the group, his chest shaking beneath you as he released a deep laugh. You admire the way that his eyes scrunch up as the laugh encapsulates his entire face, his smile so big and infectious you can’t help but feel happy. This is the moment, the one you’ll think back on as the moment you realised how deeply you feel for this man. Despite not knowing him for long or fully understanding how, you can no longer deny to yourself how you feel. Sensing eyes on you once again you decide an explanation is needed from you. You gently peel Paul’s arms off you and swallow the fear that now eats at you. You can sense how uncomfortable Paul becomes when you start walking across the room, how he fights the urge to follow you. It’s apparent to all as you stop behind Sarah who’s watching him intently, a burning hatred evident in her eyes as they bore into his soul. Her stare doesn’t break when you wrap your arms around her neck and lean down to hug her, nor when you whisper hello, she just responds with a curt acknowledgement.
“I think we need a chat.” You suggest, the words almost not wanting to leave your body. She nods against your hug.
“Good idea” she finally turns her head towards you, her eyes taking longer to meet yours as they linger on the object of her disdain. “Perhaps in the car later.” The thought of later and of driving away from this place is something that fills you with sadness and threatens to drive your heart into an anxious frenzy. Maybe there’s an alternative, one where you don’t have to leave, but your mother…
You withdraw from the hug, standing with your hands on Sarah’s shoulders before retracting those too. You see Paul’s jaw clench as he watches you disappear inside, back behind those walls he’s only just managed to climb. You want to go to him, reach out for the safety of the shore as you’re swept out into the depths, but the current is too strong. Desperately you want to go somewhere quiet, suddenly finding the noise of chatter deafening. Without thinking, your eyes fixate on the latecomer to the gathering, watching as he stuffs a muffin into his mouth, crumbs falling onto the T-shirt you’d only just seen him put on.
“What's the deal with the nakedness Embry?” you ask with an accusing tone. The confidence to ask comes from the need to distract yourself and the desire for answers. Embry almost chokes on his food as the faces of everyone else turn to look at the two of you, confusion and anger present on many of them apart from Paul’s which lights up in amusement.
“The what?” Sarah shoots at you, a puzzled look upon her face. “Why are you seeing him naked, I thought you and Paul-” she starts, earning a glare from you. Whatever she thought she did or did not know, you don’t appreciate the snide comment.
“No, I…We…” you stutter and shake your head “that’s not the point, the point is, why drive all the way to us to walk back naked?” you draw the subject of conversation back to Embry.
“Looks like you need to keep an eye out Paul, your girl’s sure interested in Embry’s nakedness” one of the group teases, making you feel angry at their inability to take anything seriously.
“Hey! I’m not his girl-” your voice gets lost amongst the boy’s growing jests and is only noticed by Sarah.
“Yeah, looks like I need to be careful around you” Embry flashes a grin and winks in your direction earning laughs from everyone. Sarah mutters something incoherent under her breath.
“Jared, Embry, that's enough” Sam’s scalding voice booms above the ruckus. The laughter dies away as he stands and comes over to you. “Looks like you’ll fit in around here,” he announces loudly to the whole room before lowering his pitch for your ears only “Just don’t let them bully you.” He smiles before heading to the door and leaving into the growing dark.
“I wasn’t bullying” Embry whispers to himself while sulking and eating another muffin.
“Lighten up” The one you assumed to be Jared, shoves him playfully.
“You lighten up” Embry retorts, shoving him back.
“Oh, you wanna go?” Jared stands up “Common then, outside.” He almost growls before the whole room erupts into laughter again. They both lean in, hands gripping the forearms of the other. “I’m only joking.” Jared laughs.
“Only because you know I’d take you.” Embry taunts, a shocked expression plastering Jared’s face.
“Right, you’re on boy.” Jared jumps to his feet along with Embry and they both run from the cabin. One of them pretends to howl like a wolf as they run down the porch steps and follow Sam into the darkness.
After witnessing the entire scene, a confused laugh bubbles to the surface and forces its way out as you take one of the now vacated seats. “I’ll pretend I know what just happened” you say, hysterics threatening to follow. From the look on Sarah’s face you can tell she’s just as confused as you.
“Trust me, that’s what I do” Emily starts gathering empty plates, busying herself. “I never know what's going on with these ones” she gestures towards the boys.
“Ouch!” one you've not met before, feigns hurt. “I’m Seth by the way,” he’s quieter than the rest, “It’s nice to finally meet Pauls-” he looks between the two of you trying to decide what words are best to use.
“Yes, I’d like to know what you guys are.” Sarah chimes in, Seth instantly looks down at the table, feeling guilty for bringing on her accusing tone. “I mean, for God's sake!” her hands slam down on the table as she shoots to her feet, evidently coming to the end of her patience.
“Sarah-” You try to soothe her, but it doesn't have the desired effect.
“Don’t!” she warns, her voice barely concealing the anger.
“Sarah please don’t” you try to plead with her not to leave, following her outside as she ignores your voice. “Sarah, talk to me.” Frustration boils beneath your surface as you start to feel torn between your friend and… well, whatever he is to you.
“Like you talk to me?” she snaps back. “Some friendship this is” she scoffs, opening the door to her car. Your hand pushes back against the metal, slamming it to stop her from leaving.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” you fold your arms defensively across your chest, blinking rapidly to stop tears from forming.
“I’ve done nothing but be there for you during whatever this is” She gestures all around and then at you “I’ve tried talking to you, hell, I’ve even covered for you to your family, to our boss. I’ve had your back this entire time, despite warning you.”
“Warning me? What warning?”
Sarah stares at you, eyes wide, the hurt evident. “He’s bad news and you can’t see that.” she rubs her eyes to hide how glassy they’ve become. “Did he tell you what happened to your job? Did he fucking tell you our boss ended up in hospital?”
“What?” The shock of her statement was written all over your face. He’d left that detail out. A smile pulls at Sarah’s mouth followed by a laugh.
“Of course he didn’t” she continues to drive her point. “He has major anger issues. What’s to stop him from doing that to you?”
“No” you shake your head “he wouldn't do that to me, he wouldn’t… I know-”
“You don’t know him!” she grabs your arms and shakes you “Listen to me! See the signs! Look at what’s happened! First he drugs you”
“Hold on, that’s not what happened-”
“Second, he puts your boss in danger” she cuts you off and starts listing things that have happened, counting them on her fingers “And then just today, You were mad at him and the next thing you’re running off and I’ve got a group of messed up weirdos telling me you’re with him and then you turn up barely dressed! What am I supposed to think?” She’s exasperated and confused as she slaps he sees with her arms.
“If I wanted a lecture I’d have clued my mother in on all this!” your anger has returned. You sense his presence watching from the cabin window; it does little to calm you. If anything it spurs you on, feeling the need to defend him. “You don’t understand.”
“Then tell me” Sarah begs you.
“I can’t…there are no words.” Seeing her look of disappointment, you give an explanation a go “It sounds ridiculous but it's like in the movies, when they say love at first sight. I can’t get him out of my head, I need to be around him. It hurts to be apart-”
“God, just listen to yourself. Do you know how crazy you sound? How can you love someone you barely know? You sound delusional.” she grabs your head, moving it to face what little light resonates from the cabin. She moves in closer, studying your eyes before snapping her head round to face Paul as he emerges from the building. “Have you drugged her again?” Sarah starts towards him, hurling more accusations. You yell after her, trying to stop it before it happens, knowing what Sarah gets like with a bee in her bonnet. You grab her by the elbow, pulling her astray and yanking her back to face you.
“Stop please” you almost sob. She pulls her arm free to which you grab her again.
“Stay away from her, you hear me?” she turns her attention back to Paul who had made his way over. “I know what you are!” she spits at him. For a brief second, panic enters Paul’s eyes “I’ve known men like you my whole life. Let her go!” She tries to reach for him with her free arm, only just about managing to give him a slight shove, which to a man his size, was nothing. Frustrated, Sarah lashes out, she pushes her elbow back into you, causing you to stumble and fall to the ground. You don’t cry out as white hot pain sears up your hip, the scream held back by panic. You watch as Sarah, having released herself from your grip, lands a blow to Paul’s face. Despite the pain, you push to your feet and put yourself between the two of them before more damage is done. Sarah stands back, the anger dissipating as she watches you put yourself in her path, your hand resting on Paul’s chest to stop his advance. Disappointment replaces her anger as you yell for her to stop like she’s the monster; your words to him being kinder and much softer. Truth of the matter is you can sense his anger and if what she said was true between Paul and your boss, you needed to do whatever it was to stop him from doing that to Sarah. You still weren’t sure he was capable of that, not after seeing how gentle he has been with you, but what if he also gets the feeling to protect and defend you, the same one you experienced earlier? What would it drive him to do?
“Well,” Sarah starts walking backwards, taking in the scene. Waves of sadness lap at you as tears fall from her eyes. “I guess you’ve made your choice then.” She chokes on the last sentence as she turns to get into her car, the anger completely gone, replaced by emptiness in both of you. The sound of the car sputtering to life wakes you from the trance you entered. Your hand leaves Paul as your feet start to run towards her car.
“Don’t go,” you whisper, hoping that she would somehow hear. You wipe your own tears off on the back of your hand as you chase her car up the dirt track, knowing she can see you in the mirror. Paul’s concerned shouts drown out in white noise as you continue up the drive long after Sarah is still no longer in view. “Don’t go, not like this” you mumble as the pace slows to a walk, your feet clumsily taking you forward until your senses start to wake back up, reality whooshing back in. The pain at your hip is a reminder of events and the hollowness inside for the mourning of your only friend in this place. You stumble through the pain of your hip, now fully aware of the presence that follows you. The urge to run into his arms is overwhelming as you crave comfort but doubt has started to creep back in, sowing its seed in your mind, so you ignore him for a little longer.
Eventually he approaches you, after your emotions settle. Allowing him to take you into his arms, you take a deep breath to savour the moment and solidify him in your memory. You’ve had time to think and time is what you need more than anything.
“I want to go home.” earlier the prospect of leaving Paul hurt more than anything but now you relish in the idea of space as you feel yourself shutting down. Although he doesn’t want to let you go, he knows he can’t smother you.
“Just don’t shut me out, talk to me.” He strokes your hair as he holds you, hoping his words would reach you deep inside, so you know that you’re not alone. You break from his hold as his words remind you of similar ones from Sarah.
Do I shut people out? I don’t mean to…
Briefly do you look into his eyes, the only feature to give away the pain he’s currently in, watching you go through this. Once again feeling sad you turn and head back down the track towards the cabin.
“Have I lost you?” his question cuts deeper than a knife, dissolving the last piece of your stability. “Tell me I haven’t lost you” his voice breaks as he pleads for an answer. It hurts you even more to hear him like this, you want to comfort him and tell him everything is okay but you can’t find it in you to do that.
“You’ll never lose me” you whisper as you put distance between the both of you. Despite it being almost inaudible, you feel certain he’s heard or senses it as his footfalls start to follow you once again. The words you whispered running over your mind in a constant loop. Seemingly you’ve made a choice this day; no matter what, you’re here for the long run. The idea of losing Paul, the hurt involved with that, outweighs everything else. The thought alone is almost enough to send you to the floor in a hysterical fit of hyperventilating and panic. He’ll never lose you.
Not that I have much choice in the matter.
