My silken friend’s newest mudi child, Mr. Ferrous. He’s incredibly cute and dangerously charming. He enjoyed being carried around like a baby and had the cutest tubbiest puppy belly.
#dogblr#petblr#hungarian mudi#dog#I’ll see him again at UKC shows next weekend#kram thought he was fine until he started zooming around#with his leash on#then he was scary#fear period here we come lol#it’s cool he got over it

I'm becoming a title and ribbon addict. Going to crack into the new year with FitDog titles for TenSoon and DMWYD titles for Pantalaimon. Two programs I never thought I'd bother with, but I've got an itch now.

well i did get good news today so that’s awesome
#might get a started service dog#just have to teach him some of my more complex tasks which no problem truly#but that means i could focus on the quacken’s hunting career#& it’s another gundog so i could do hrc with him (not navhda unfortunately)#I would have to abandon my show dog plans unless i play in ukc with [redacted]#the quacken is bigger than his standard so i’m not 100% sure he would do well let alone enjoy it with his stranger danger

Jagdterrier! There are usually one or two at UKC shows around here, and they're always such a blast. Probably not a dog I could handle, but one I admire from afar.

Spork
Spork is a teensy tiny ten month old Silken Windhound who was a completely unexpected but lovely surprise. A friend reached out to me in December about a spunky little girl who needed placing in a sport/show home. She had heard I was interested in Silkens and I told her I hadn’t planned on bringing home a puppy while I was still raising another puppy, I let her talk me into a trial run. And that trial run became permanent. Everyone who has met Spork has loved her. She is an incredibly endearing little bandicoot who loves people and dogs alike. She’s tough enough to hang with the beezer girls and hold her own, but she also loves to cuddle and snuggle and has the best settle. She has also managed to charm not only her BFF Ponzi, but also Azula and grumpy little man Tansy. She’s on a vacation with a friend currently, but when she’s back we’re going to start looking for some UKC shows and planning for her to start some sports this fall after she turns 1.

Re: the first thing, most Kishu people (and people involved in the medium NKs in general) know our dogs aren't going to happily tolerate all strange dogs (esp. in a high octane situation like a coursing trial) so we don't put them in situations they're apt to fail...
And I have to wonder if the presence of DA sighthounds on courses is part of why they're concerned, because yeah, people still run difficult hounds. If I were on the other side and didn't know NK people are much less likely to do that, I'd probably not want them around either, because they can really fight hard when they want to. I'd forgotten they don't all handle their DA dogs with as much caution as the average NK person involved in sports does. So I'll judge them less for that. Can't expect them to know what's up.
It's a lot more likely the Kishu club will develop their own hunt test actually suited for their dogs than run Kishu in coursing trials, though, so they're really just making a stink over a load of nothing. Since the 'wrong shape' argument is also nothing- that boat sailed when the Norbottenspets earned hound recognition. Hahaha.
Man sighthound people are REALLY MAD that Kishu Ken were moved to hound group instead of working or nonsporting, despite Kishu having been used exclusively for hunting since before they were even called Kishu Ken.
#I take pleasure at seeing people whinge about spitz actually getting into appropriate classes#Akc doesn't have a northern group! You can't stop us!#I only show ukc bc there's no FSS shows near me#And fr it is weird to show against dogs that have such different behaviors in ring

I fell asleep HALF AN HOUR BEFORE IT CAME OUT AHHHHGHHHH
What HAPPENED I missed all the streams :((((
Okay so I'll deliver the lore to you straight. Cassie exploded like half of the building then the DCA scuttled towards her on all fours like "hey you little beast why did you do that" and she was like "idk because it would be funny" and they dragged her to the Dark & Empty which was also known as the Unfortunate to repent on her sins but then she escaped through the cell bars and fk ukcing ate literally all of the drywall from the rest of the building like all of it so uhh monty showed up but hes cool though so he started eating the drywall WITH her until the DCA came running to chase them both down with a battle axe they found in the ballpit so cassie and monty decided to become the drywall to hide but then it turned out that they really just liked being drywall actually so they stayed there for the rest of time then the game ended. there was a post credits funeral because no one knew that they had become the drywall they were just gone i guess. idk you had to be there
#ask#this isn't comedic overexaggerations for tamer scenes btw. this is all made up#explanation for this post: it's 8:31am and i have not slept

The borzoi babes did a couple things at the UKC shows yesterday! This counts as Kram’s first competition win anywhere!
#dogblr#petblr#show dogs#UKC dog show#borzoi#puppy#puppy borzoi#sighthound#dog#Krampus#margo#we go for practice#he isn’t competitive in AKC yet#and I don’t necessarily want the community and judges to have a picture of him in any puppy uglies lolol#so UKC is a great practice ground#also a good place to brush up on handling skills#margo comes to keep practiced for when I bring her out for specialties#my sister also does the silken thing#so we have a good time I guess rofl

Uh oh, they need to stop holding specialties for breeds I know people in in the state... looks like I might be going to up to 4 national specialties next year.
#groens and rotties are having their nationals in my backyard i have no excuse not to go lol#especially because groen and rottie people have been some of the sweetest most welcoming people#who have been such a help when learning about herding and carting and showing ukc & iabca#not sure what id be doing but i know they always need a hand for herding 🤣#my breeds' specialties are out of state so its still sort of up in the air#i might commit to the collie national if enough of my collie friends commit. i just cant afford to cancel a big trip like that#the beauce nationals are very driveable so thats less of an issue#if i could carpool to the collie nationals that would be the dream LOL#much to think about. beauce national is a ways out but the collie national is SOON
