I talked to KryssieKat about her past experiences with the organization AnimeLeague who run Anime & Gaming Conventions in the UK and how they treated her where she explains the inappropriate behaviour towards her from the owner of AnimeLeague Mike Towers and the bullying and harassment she had to deal with from the people who work for him. 

 We hope this video can help you make an informed decision about the organization and reconsider working with them, we encourage people share tehir own stories in the comments below and will not be tolerating any hate or peopel dismissing others and their stories or trying to silence people who wish to speak out. TetZooCon 2024

I am back from the UK and what was the „final“ TetZooCon ever. As every year before it was two great days of talking with fellow natural history enthusiasts, bleeding my wallet at stalls of awesome art and literature and of course some fascinating presentations.

The actual convention was then followed by a three day trip, the tetzootour, stopping at the Horniman Museum for Luis Rey‘s „Dinosaur rEvolution“, Lyme Regis for fossil hunting and Howletts Wild Animal Park.

Confessions of a Rotten Girl MV References to Fujoshi and Yaoi Culture

0:13 In the background of Miku’s room we can see dakimakuras hung on the wall, as well as a poster of a bara esque character wearing a face mask. Dakimakuras, or body pillows, are a common piece of anime merchandise.

0:17 All of Miku’s speech bubbles within the video are stylized like manga bubbles, even using the same font (wildwords). Also, the object she’s holding behind her is a yaoi paddle, a long pine wood paddle that were sold in the mid to late 2000s as decorative props, but were also used by some convention goers to spank others as a prank. While they typically read ‘Yaoi’, ‘Seme’, ‘Uke’, or other similar terms, hers reads ‘sinner’.

0:24 We get a better look at the manga she’s buying in this scene. The illustration is of a man getting his pec grabbed, with “Knockers” written up at the top. The text on the front reads “The best ever.”, and is subtitled “Time to see some old man hole”. The character seems to be one of Hokawazu’s, an NSFW artist who appears to have drawn this image, or at least been referenced by it. Additionally, the cover advertises a free CD that comes with the manga. BL CDs are a form of media in the yaoi genre in which the story is constrained to an audible form. Audio dramas that can be either explicit or safe for work in their content.

0:34 The cream on their faces is a reference to the trope of frosting/cream being used as pseudo-semen to imply a sensual undertone to images that may otherwise be SFW (I believe, the aprons might also be a reference, but I’m not sure as to what). Also, Yuuma and Len are the only two of the five without frosting on their faces - they’re also the only two who aren’t sexualized throughout the MV, presumably because they’re Miku’s classmates and therefore high schoolers and most likely underage.

0:36 Lemon slices float upwards, referring to the Citrus Scale, an older metric of labeling explicit fan works. ‘Lemon’ in this context indicates that the work is erotic or explicit in nature.

0:40 Example of classic seme/uke dynamic. Note Kiyoteru’s smaller and less muscled frame, as well as his more pointed jaw as compared to Gakupo’s square chin. Gakupo’s lanyard reads ‘Soft Seme’, and the camera effects imply Miku is recording all of this. Additionally, the lyrics and the outfits the characters are wearing imply that they are students and faculty members at Miku’s school, which means she’s shipping real people, as Fujoshi’s are often criticized for doing.

0:43 This whole image is a Given reference.

0:44 The lyric ���Just watch! Look beyond the smoke and mirrors” refers to shipping culture, and how some fans with theorize that their pairing would be canon if not for an outside acting force such as management, producers, writers, etc. The most popular example I can name in reference to this is the Johnlocke conspiracy.

0:47 Luka is scribbled out and labeled ‘Delusional’ by Miku, in reference to how female characters and actors tend to be treated poorly by some fans for ‘getting in the way’ of slash ships.

0:51-0:57 Kaito, Kiyoteru, and Gakupo are bound in bondage ropes, except for Gakupo, who is bound with jump ropes because he’s the gym teacher.

1:03 Miku is holding a Death Note, except it’s not a Death Note, it’s a ‘Yaoi Note’. May be a reference to Lawlight, a popular Death Note ship.

1:06 “The lord sayeth “halt thy child, don’t give into sin”” is a reference to how some Fujoshis have referred to yaoi as ‘sin’ in the past, and the act of engaging with it as ‘sinning’.

1:15 Omegaverse referenced on the chalkboard next to bananas and donuts; bananas referring to penises, donuts referring to assholes. Anal sex.

1:27 Rotten tomatoes, as are thrown in disapproval at a poor performance. At first I thought this was a Hetalia reference, but figured that might be a bit too deep of a cut. They’re also used in reference to the ‘rotten’ in ‘rotten girl’ (“rotten girl” is a translation of the word “Fujoshi”), rotten tomatoes for a rotten girl.

1:38 This whole segment is a Danganronpa references, a fandom with many popular slash ships.

1:43 Top left and right of the chalkboard are Ao3 symbols, specifically the ones for Explicit, M/M, Author Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings, and Completed Work.

2:00 Most of this is obscure to me, but if I were to hazard a guess, I’d say the fruit is referencing forbidden fruit (as brought up earlier in the song), the ping pong paddles yaoi paddles, and the tarts the desserts the boys were holding earlier.

2:10 MikuMikuBeam in the bottom right corner. Not yaoi, but a cute reference to another of Sawtowne’s works.

2:13 She’s using some website on the computers in the back, but the pixelation makes it hard to tell which. I’d guess maybe a manga reading website? But none I’m familiar with.

2:21 Refers to a trend on TikTok where the speed at which the circles are moving implies the speed at which the corresponding character is having sex (top or bottom).

2:25 Another reference to the Citrus Scale.

2:33 Penis in the reflection of her glasses.

2:52 And finally, slowburn is a fanfiction trope.

Hey Everyone, TetZooCon is happening again, and this year is going to be amazing. As well as the usual TetZooCon fun and nerdery, we have an absolutely spectacular venue. If you want to feel like a like some sort of superstar star sipping champagne* on a rooftop terrace overlooking the river in central London, looking down on puny kings and Prime Ministers while you geek out about animals, this is the event for you!

We also have palaeoart superstar Greg Paul coming over from America to give a talk and a Q&A, and TV's Chris Packham, among many other great speaker and guests.

TetZooCon 2024 will be held on September Friday 27th (evening reception only), and the weekend of September 28th and 29th. Our venue is once again Bush House, King’s College, London

Fort the truly hardy TetZooCon-er, we also have the TetZooTour, starting on the Monday following, where you will be guided to Darren Naish through some of the zoology and palaeontology sites of the UK.

I thought I'd finally make a post about the cabaret net boleros I made, especially after reading the tags.

I made them in the spring and finally delivered them to Häärijä at the July 3rd Backas show ( my first show ) :read more:

I make goth/rave clothes for anime conventions for a living and I was inspired to make a net bolero for myself, so I started drafting this earlier in the year.

This was the prototype I created, it wasn't great but it's the one I wear, a lot 😂

This was my second prototype, it was going to be Hä's but it got a tear in it, so now it's mine and I'm going to put pink spikes on it.

So I tweaked them a bit after I had my coworker try it on ( I'm all the way in the U S of A therefore I had to guess on their size) unfortunately I think my coworker is a bit broader shouldered and longer armed than our boys. So they look a little big on them (especially on Mikke) 😭

The back is pretty high, I was trying to mimic the bolero, I didn't quite anticipate the amount of sweat Jere would produce and how much it would stretch and ride up 👀🫣 welp, too late now 😅😅. He also was wearing it right, they weren't backwards, I just made them shitty. Oop. 🫣

I definitely didn't think they would ever wear them again after the one IG post they made. And the fact they wore them to the one gig I decided to go to on a whim, flying out to the UK for a quick weekend trip. Did they know??? How did they know?????

To prepare for Claire & Frank since they had a history, she and Tobias wrote each other letters. Tobias would redact his because he was in MI6. They didn't do anything to prepare for Claire & BJR because she didn't know him

During the rapid-fire someone asked "Sam's whisky or Graham's bourbon". She said Sam's whisky but hasn't tried the bourbon (she doesn't really like bourbon it's too sweet)

Astray is a comic based on my clangen file, where I'll be playing 1 full year (12 moons) ahead and then drawing out the events that happen to my little kitties. I'll change around the order of events and adding bits and lore as we go, and I do meddle with game files as I want 'cos I want to tell a satisfying and fun story. This is based on the vanilla clangen game with the mechanics, set roles and naming conventions within the game, but Astray will not be a typical warriors setting as structured with clans and warriors.

howdy!! was wondering what your favourite tv or movie adaptations for each rogue are? although material is limited for most of them… i was wondering what shows/movies did them right!!

Hi! As usual, I'm typically too indecisive to pick just one, especially if they've got a lot of good adaptions.

Len - With Len, I'm very torn between Justice League Unlimited, the CWverse, and Batman: The Brave and the Bold. He's got a lot of good appearances, though he's in so much that there's a lot of stuff that isn't great too.

Lisa - I'm also torn between the Harleyverse and CW Flash, because they're two very different takes on her. The Harleyverse (specifically the Kite Man series) is much more true to her comics self and it's great fun for that reason, but I also enjoyed the practical down-to-earth live action version. I think I'll go with the Harleyverse because she's more fun, even though I'm sorry we rarely see her interacting with Rogues (just her brother on occasion).

Sam - Justice League Unlimited is my choice, though he was great on The Batman too. (And then there's Super Friends, which has the distinction of creating the Mirrorverse. Definitely not his best adaptation, but very memorable.)

Evan - Batman: The Brave and the Bold, even in spite of the ridiculous accent. He even has the tooth gap!

Roscoe - There are very few options, so I'm giving it to Flashpoint Paradox since he at least got two lines. His cameos in Batman: The Brave and the Bold are fun, though.

James - Justice League Unlimited. I like the two live action versions of James, but by headcannoning him as a different character. I don't enjoy the interpretation of him as a psychopath.

Axel - CW Flash Axel was pretty good, though I wish he was less psycho.

Roy - With Roy we're limited to Teen Titans Go and the CW Flash show. I like both for different reasons, but they're both extremely limited because TTG is just goofy and the CW Flash is mostly just creepy; I do wish CW Roy showed more range. (Obviously it's not surprising that TTG is goofy.)

Mark - He was lots of fun on Batman: The Brave and the Bold. I really like his CW Flash incarnation too, but for me that comes in second place.

Hartley - I haven't seen the Beast Boy show yet (apparently it's only aired in the UK thus far?), so the only answer is the CW Flash series.

Mick - For a traditional Mick, Batman: The Brave and the Bold. For a far less conventional one, the CW version. Both are great.

Digger - Having a really tough time with this one, because he's in so much stuff and some of it is great. My three picks are Justice League Unlimited, the DCEU animated movies (Suicide Squad: Hell To Pay, Batman: Assault On Arkham, and Justice League Dark: Apokolips War. The last movie is gruesome and depressing, but Digger himself is perfect), and the live action Suicide Squad movies.

Owen - I really liked his incarnation on the CW Flash series, even though he was absolutely nothing like Owen.

Abra Kadabra - His first episode of the CW Flash show was amazing and I'll give that the prize, but his second episode sucked. Otherwise, Batman: The Brave and the Bold is the best.

The Shade - Not a Rogue, but he's fantastic on Stargirl. Highly recommended.

Six Makeup: Masterpost and Links

Hey y'all! Finally finished up a long promised post: all of my makeup suggestions for SIX cosplayers (and/or fans who just want to do some cool makeup looks)!!! I've been actively working on this post for about a year now and compiling makeup for even longer, so I'm happy to finally finish it. I'll get into more details in a moment, but first things first:

I'll include all the links below, but for easy access I made a handy-dandy Pinterest board. It is sorted by costume (sections for each queen + alt costume) and you can clink on any pin to be taken directly to buy it. I would recommend that people look there for a more visual/easy look at the recommendations; I realize pure text can get a bit old!

Some notes: - All of these links are to US sites, with a variety of US and UK sources. Most of these brands ship internationally and/or are available on Amazon as well. - I tried to factor in a large variety of material colors/shades, skin tones, and financial budget. You'll find a mix of US and UK-based brands, mainstream and smaller brands, drugstore versus more upscale, and some brands owned by women of color. - There's a broad range in the companies listed in terms of their ethics, animal testing, politics, etc. I'm including as many companies as possible to give people as many options as possible, but some of these I wouldn't personally financially support. I would strongly suggest that anyone do their own research into the brands listed. - Many of these products may be harsher on skin than your typical products. I'd suggest considering any potential allergens and skin testing any product before use, and using your regular base (foundation, blush, etc) to minimize the number of new products. (If you have sensitive skin or are worried about toxicity, I'd suggest Skin Deep for toxicity information and the FDA site for information on common irritants) - The vast majority of the makeup on this list is products that I know Six actors use. However, just because someone in Six uses it does not mean it's necessary to achieve a great look - there are many great alternatives for just about any product, and what works for a specific actor may not be what works best for you. (I'd also note that the vast majority of queens use some fairly cheap makeup, so you never need to feel like you have to pay more to get "stage accuracy") - Factor in where you're intending to use your products. Six uses some extreme stage makeup and truly crazy lighting; if you use these products with the exact same intensity in just about any other context, it will be way overkill. Convention lighting tends to be harsh so you can usually go a bit heavier there, particularly if you're intending to do any on-stage performances. But for everyday use or a closet cosplay to go see Six or an outdoor meet-up with natural light you will usually want to go much softer. (Photoshoots are a whole other can of worms and really depend on specifics) - Some of this information is taken from a series of Instagram stories Erin Ramirez did. I'm still writing up a post of everything she suggested, but I'll link it here when finished. - And, finally, have fun experimenting and finding what works for you!
