The thought of traveling away from the only place he had ever known scared Kaoru, but it was also an exciting thought. It would only be temporary, he knew that, but it would feel nice to get away from the suffocation he felt whenever his father talked to him. 

He must have been smiling, because Rei poked his cheek and grinned at him. 

“I think little Kaoru likes that idea more than he lets on.” 

Kaoru felt his face heat up and buried it back in his knees. He heard Rei chuckle as he laid an arm across Kaoru’s shoulders.

i will admit that having people show interest in going to my college graduation was a little startling bc i didn't walk or ANYTHING for highschool grad i just kind of finished the courses online and went to work . so now its like . ohhh people DO care about that a little maybe .. ohh the people around me ARE like a little interested in celebrating a thing i did ....
