WAUGHHHHHHHH i have never properly written anything down, my poor partner put a channel in their server where i rant, to uh explain lyman he's some sort of weird lizard-horse hybrid thing?? [its a species that exists in his universe ] , he has a FUCKED up life that when i get to posting lymantria's despair [webcomic i'm concidering making if art block doesn't GET me again.] will be detailed there as lyman's life and experinces mirror mine and my personal traumas, you however asked for oc lore and not...evreything wrong with me so!! at some point in his youth he meets jewel who is a parasite, and uhh [given lyman's world is just beastars but i let bugs exist] her species faces a lot of discrimination ehaeh!! eventually the two move in together and lyman.....lets jewel kill him it is a fucked up scene i'd have to write at some point due to lyman's growing suicidal ideation and jewel's nature as a parasite. lyman does NOT die however and is shoved into his peacekeeper job and this is the 2nd version of lyman the uh,, fnc oc who's in some weird homoerotic relationship with scarab lyman, vent-sona who gets killed by jewel is his own version..guy?? since lyman has dissasociative ammnesia and does not recall his mortal life outside of weird wasp related nighmares,

thoughts on Bela///Donna?

What a lovely can of worms you've placed in my inbox, dear nonnie. I cannot wait to open it and lose followers (regardless of what I actually say).

Since this is, uh, a subject of some debate among RE8 fans, I will be inputting my thoughts on the idea of the ship (and the possible controversy), as opposed to doing HCs or something for it (which I recognize might be what you were asking for, despite the excessive /s).

This is all based on my playthroughs of the game, as well as what I've managed to double check on the fandom/wiki for it. I know that a lot of people who read fanfic for the game haven't actually played it, likely having been lured in by Tall Vampire Milf, and so I hope that some people will be open to a reminder of, like, canon vs fanon? I've mentioned in a previous post that there's a lot of details for RE8 that are not made clear, and I feel the need to reiterate that in this post. Capcom left a lot of stuff up to people's imaginations, or kind of just hinted at in game or in concept art.

But more importantly, regardless of what game we're talking about, regardless of the conclusion I come to (and the one you come to) at the end of this post, I want to say that I absolutely understand the need/desire to have your own perspective/take on the characters from the game, as well as their dynamics. If a ship makes you uncomfortable because you see the characters as being family members, it's totally okay. Block the ship tag, or filter it out when you look through fandom stuff, don't follow people who post for it, etc, etc.

If you think of characters as being family-family (like, not just "we got married and are now a family" but, like, "we're siblings/parent and child") and still ship them? uh. sorry, bruv, maybe think of hitting that unfollow button. No, seriously, hit that unfollow button. This blog is anti-incest, thank you very much.

The last thing I'll say before putting it under a read-more (for both length and major RE8 spoilers) is that I recognize that I might have missed something, either in game or developers talking about things on social media, and so if you read through this and go "god, J, you're such a dumbass for forgetting *critical piece of media*" or even just "okay but have you seen *small but meaningful piece of media*?" please. Just. Please. Tell me. Link me to that shit. I WANT to know if I'm wrong. I've literally avoided talking about this for as long as I could in order to TRY and make sure I have all the context I need.

With that said, let's examine what context we are given for Alcina Dimitrescu, Bela Dimitrescu, Donna Beneviento, and their relations to each other. I will be leaving my personal thoughts on Bela///Donna at the very end of this, as somewhat of a conclusion, somewhat of just a "hey, this is what you technically asked me about".

Firstly, let me begin by explaining what I consider to be the 3 tiers of "canon"

In-Game/Direct: The highest, truest tier, the definitive canon. This is everything that takes place in game, excluding certain hallucination scenes (ex: Mia was not really in House Beneviento, but we can infer some things from what Donna made Ethan hallucinate about). Things either happen, or are directly stated by characters. There's some wiggle room for dialogue, as characters can lie, but overall we, as the audience, assume we are being told the truth. At the very least, games usually eventually make it clear when a character has been dishonest. Examples of Direct Canon include the following: Ethan is infected with the mold, Lady Dimitrescu drinks blood, Heisenberg wears sunglasses, Mother Miranda can shapeshift.

Concept Art/Developer's Notes/Indirect: Mid-tier and debatable, the "we think, but we're not sure" of canon. Resident Evil: Village contains lots of concept art that the players can browse through, all of which include notes from the developers about the game, characters, environments, and story. Sometimes the notes make something "direct", but oftentimes they do not specify whether the listed idea is still canon or if it was removed during development. This tier also includes information that is implied/can be inferred from tier 1 information, but is not directly stated. Examples of Indirect Canon include the following: Donna's mother died by suicide, Moreau was going to have his lover fused to his back, Duke was originally a fifth lord, Heisenberg was going to have a twin. As you can see, not all of the concept art ideas made it into the final version of the game, so it can be hard when some information seems like it might still be true (such as the matter of Donna's parents).

Fanon/"False": Sometimes collective ideas in a fandom become so widespread that people start interpreting them as actual canon. Sometimes it gets hard to remember what's just obscure lore and what's fanon. When we get a piece of fiction as overall vague as a lot of Resident Evil: Village is, there's bound to be some confusion over time. That's one of the main reasons I waited to talk about Bela////Donna until after I had recently replayed relevant sections of the game, as I wanted to remind myself of what we're actually told. Examples of False Canon are difficult to pinpoint, but might include things like: Hufflepuffs are good at finding things? The Avengers got along for awhile and all had their own rooms in the tower? There's a number scale for the danger level of ghosts in Danny Phantom?

For this post, I will be limiting the majority of my notes to the first two levels of canon, and will do my best to mark them as such. Now... let us... begin.

Alcina Dimitrescu:

Born no later than 1914, Alcina Dimitrescu was 44 years old when she was granted the Cadou by Mother Miranda. (1st Tier: Canon. Source: A note in the castle basement from a servant is dated 1958, and mentions both Alcina and her children. Secondly, Miranda's experiment notes state that Alcina was the 181st subject, and was given the Cadou at age 44. By doing math, we can then determine the earliest Alcina could have been born.)

Alcina refers to the other Lords as her family once without any disdain (when Ethan first arrives at the castle and is caught, Alcina says "you've escaped my little brother"). In a private journal (located near where she threw the infamous vanity) she insults the other Lords, and expresses anger that she is "treated like a sister to them". She argues with Heisenberg without any hesitation, and seems honest in her hatred of him (per Maggie Robertson's wunderbar performance). (1st Tier/2nd Tier: Canon with a sprinkle of interpretation for the last line)

Alcina openly refers to Bela, Cassandra, and Daniela as her daughters, and wrote in her experiment journal that she felt instantly connected to them (as mother and daughters). (1st Tier: Canon).

Bela Dimitrescu:

Likely born in the 1930's or 1940's, in order to be an adult by 1958 (the first dated appearance of the Dimitrescu daughters). (2nd Tier: Based on inference)

Dialogue shows that all three of the daughters do love their mother, and reinforces the bond Alcina's journal mentions. (1st Tier: Canon)

We are not given any information about how Bela feels about the other Lords, or even what she knows about them. Once can assume that she shares the ideas of her mother, either because Alcina tells her things directly, or because Bela (who is eager to please her mother) picks up on them over time. (2nd Tier: Based on inference)

Donna Beneviento:

No idea when she was born. If you've read one of my recent posts, then you know that it's almost entirely a matter of 2nd and 3rd tier canon.

Of the four lords, Donna seems to have the most story within the 2nd tier, and has very, very little in the 1st tier. Duke says she's somewhat isolated, and that her "playmates" never leave the house. Miranda's notes state that Donna is mentally ill, and the gardener's diary states/implies (bit of both) that Donna has severe social anxiety. (1st/2nd Tier: Mostly canon)

Supposedly, her parents committed suicide while she was still a child. This is indicated in concept art/the attached developer's notes. However, the only part that's also directly stated in game is that her parents (specifically her father) died while she was young. (1st/2nd Tier: Mostly canon)

While Donna only has one voice line in the game (and it's sad), Angie talks a fair bit. Angie seems to disapprove of the other Lords, or at the very least enjoys mocking them, as well as enjoys watching them fight with each other. As Angie is connected to Donna, and Donna has some level of control over her, one can assume that the two have similar (if not the same) opinions. (1st/2nd Tier: Mostly Canon)

Donna was adopted by Mother Miranda as an adult. It's unclear exactly how old Donna was, or what exactly Miranda did as her "mother", just that Donna was excited about it. (1st Tier: Canon)

Other Relevant Information:

Heisenberg refers to the other Lords as his siblings a minimum of 1 time. Similarly to Alcina, however, he openly insults them and seems to hate them. He just, you know, hates Mother Miranda the most. (1st Tier: Canon)

Mother Miranda does not actually give a shit about the four Lords, intended for them to die before the ceremony, and has been manipulating them for her own gain this entire time. Her notes and dialogue make it clear that she only cares about getting Eva back. Somehow mother of the year and worst mother ever. At the same time. (1st/2nd Tier: Mostly Canon)

It's unclear who treats Alcina "like a sister" to the other Lords. Were there cut lines of dialogue that cemented the idea of them being a "family"? Did Miranda call them a "family" as part of pretending she cared about them? I've done my best to dig around, but there's very little in game that treats them as a family of any sort.

As each Lord ruled their own section of the region, they don't have any mentions of interacting with each other outside of meetings with Mother Miranda. None of the notes for any Lord (and their relevant experiments) mention what the others are doing. In game, their environments are very separate, very well divided, though this is likely as much for gameplay as it is for story.

Conclusion:

I do not not believe there is enough in game evidence to suggest that Alcina and Donna consider themselves to be siblings. There's the possibility for a large age gap, Alcina was a fair bit older than Donna when she met Miranda, Donna is a social recluse whose closest bonds were with dead blood relatives and dolls, Alcina openly dislikes (if not hates) the other Lords, they seemingly lived very separate and distanced lives, and Mother Miranda does not enforce the idea of "family". Furthermore, the sheer contrast between how Alcina interacts with/speaks of the other Lords compared to how she interacts with/speaks of her daughters says a lot about her feelings. Even if Heisenberg takes the brunt of her anger, Alcina never once says anything remotely positive about anyone other than Miranda and her daughters.

As Alcina/Bela and Donna are not blood-relatives, the definition of what would count as "incest" does vary depending on who you ask. Personally, I do count non-blood relations as potentially incestuous. For example: Alcina "dating" one of her daughters would be incest, regardless of the fact that she's a mutated human and her daughters are weird swarms of flies.

Now, I do understand how popular the idea of the four Lords being a real, chaotic but still close family is. And as I mentioned above, it's totally valid to not like the Bela///Donna ship, whether it's because you think they're family or some other reason. I don't personally see them that way, even in my definitely-not-canon stories.

Do I personally ship Bela///Donna? Nope. Have I liked art for the ship? Admittedly yes, even if I thought some of it was, like, maiden x Bela because Donna didn't have her veil and I'm a DUMBASS who doesn't always remember to read tags. Would I ever write for it? Yeah, probably, assuming I didn't miss anything in game/that I don't eventually change my mind.

Some of my thoughts/headcanons about Jekyll/Hyde x Utterson under the cut!

So! Thought it would be interesting to write down some of my current thoughts about this ship, because even though I’ve had the basics of my headcanon down for years, I keep changing my mind about the details... So this is how I feel about them in summer 2020!

In my mind, taking the constraints of the musical into account, and keeping in mind all my headcanons are based on a production where unrequited Utterson/Jekyll was canon and they were both in their late 20s, I think there are two ways this ship can go:

1) Unrequited until the end

Jekyll and Utterson have some history together, some years ago (this much was implied by the production, and the rest of this post is just piles of headcanon slapped on top of that.) Utterson’s been in love with Jekyll for heaven knows how long, and in my headcanon, there is certain potential that Jekyll might one day reciprocate that. Instead, though, he actively decides to repress and ignore those feelings... except for this one time.

So after their brief fling, they go back to a faux status quo where Utterson is still deeply in love with Jekyll but half believes, half pretends to believe that Jekyll doesn’t know it, and Jekyll knows it, but 100% refuses to ever think about it. I think they’re best friends for real, so both have a real fear of losing the other and thus a strong motivation for keeping this up – but since I like to headcanon my musical Jekylls as selfish bastards, I figure Jekyll also thinks Utterson is potentially useful to him with all that legal knowhow and whatnot, so that’s an extra incentive for him not to cut any ties.

And this is how it stays until the end of Jekyll’s life, with a mountain of things eternally left unsaid. (Somewhere deep in my ship tag, there are some short fics & comics that explore this scenario further, go find them if you’re curious – I still stand behind those stories, even if I would do the art differently today.)

2) Dark kind of romance

Musical!Hyde is pretty big on the whole having-all-the-”forbidden”-sex thing. I’m not saying that’s a fantastic interpretation of Stevenson’s original character or anything, but that’s what we have in the musical, sooo... with that in mind, let’s take my headcanon number 1 and expand upon it!

If we assume that somewhere deep inside, Jekyll is – well, not in love with Utterson, no, but repressing some feelings that could blossom into something more one day, and also vaguely aware of Utterson’s feelings, plus definitely thinking his best friend is kinda hot... I think it’s not too far-fetched that as Hyde, he’d go hitting on Utterson at some point.

I think this starts happening after Utterson finds out Hyde’s true identity (the musical makes it look like that happens the night before the wedding, but for this headcanon, let’s assume Utterson confronting Hyde and Jekyll giving Lucy’s letter to Utterson are two different events set a couple of weeks apart.) Jekyll is probably avoiding Utterson altogether by this point, so Hyde’s all that Utterson’s getting. He jumps at the chance.

Hyde’s certainly not an attentive lover, and Utterson sorta loathes himself for giving into his advances. He’s feeling the insult in Jekyll only sharing the very worst of himself with him on this intimate level, but at the same time, he feels it’s actually him who’s taking advantage of Jekyll here, because the man is clearly ill and Hyde’s a symptom of that illness, and the real Jekyll wouldn’t want to do what they’re doing. But he’s been in love with Jekyll for so long, and the wedding is still happening, and by the looks of it, the man might be dead next week anyways... so by this point, he’d rather have the very worst of him than nothing at all.

So for some weeks, they keep up this relationship, fueled by lust and shadowed by a strong sense of staring into the void, standing at the brink of a deep dark abyss. And indeed, soon enough, the void closes around Jekyll/Hyde and Utterson stays behind, alone. (This is the universe for almost all of my ship art, because with this story and these characters, I’m largely not one for happy AUs.)

P.S. Do I wish they would properly explore scenario number 2 with Lucy in the musical – having her state that she knows full well that Hyde is Jekyll, but still rather has him at his worst than not at all... but noooo, that would simply be too interesting a conflict for a female Frankhorn character. Boo. I don’t really want to make fan content about a scenario like that, though, because the whole sex worker thing gives it a nasty non-consensual spin – with Utterson, it’s dark for sure, but they’re still both in it 100% willingly.

P.P.S. I think drawing these two is so relaxing to me because a) they remind me of some good times – better times, really, in some ways b) it’s relaxing to draw things you know how to draw, and seeing they’re pretty much the only thing I’ve drawn regularly during the past few years, they’re honestly the subject I'm the most comfortable with atm, sorta requiring less active thought than many other things would. Uh. Yeah.

As the months passed, Leon slowly started to form normalcy. His apartment resembled more of a bachelor’s pad as Karina’s personal items were removed. In an effort to get his mind off of things, it wasn’t uncommon for two or three of Leon’s friends to come and stay for weeks at a time and he genuinely appreciated the company but it didn’t replace the fact that Karina was gone. Mathea, never one to miss an opportunity, soon moved herself in and resumed her role as the doting girlfriend.

“Ha! I’ve found her.”

Leon let the basketball rebound off the floor before holding it still. Putting the net up in the living room seemed like both his best and worst idea to date. “What? Found who?”

“Karina.” Sebastian called back out. He wasn’t Leon’s official agent, but he acted in a managerial capacity in addition to being Leon’s close friend. “She’s listed on the website as the Associate Curator of European Art.”

Leon put the ball down and walked over to the sofa where Sebastian was lounging. He stopped short, trying to decide if he would feel better knowing where Karina was or if he would feel worse. “What website?”

“AGO.” Sebastian looked up from the screen at Leon. “Does Marius really not know where she is?”

Leon shook his head. “No. Their parents haven’t come out and said it but he figured they’d cut him off too if he tried to get in touch with her. What does AGO stand for?”

“Art Gallery of Ontario.” He turned his laptop towards Leon. “As in Ca-na-da, eh?”

Leon smirked at Sebastian’s over pronunciation but he couldn’t help but smile at Karina’s picture placed alongside her bio. She looked essentially the same, her hair might have been a bit longer and she had it straightened in this picture, but she looked genuinely happy. Leon knew that Karina had a “professional smile” that she used to counteract her natural inclination to frown but the smile she wore in her picture proved her to be happy and proud of this new position.

“Oh damn,”

Leon turned back to Sebastian who was on his phone now. “What now?”

“Looks like she’s got a new…” Sebastian hesitated. “Well, have a look.”

Sebastian had pulled facebook up on his phone but he didn’t know the person who’s profile it was. It was a picture of a group of six people at what looked to be an outdoor wedding reception, the bride and groom were placed in the middle with two people on either side. Karina stood to the very right, tucked neatly against the side of man who looked to be about the same age, her hand resting on his chest while his was placed low on her hip. Again, Karina smiled brightly while the man had more of a smirk and that instantly put Leon off him. He had been hoping maybe she was just the man’s plus one as a favor but then he read the caption and his heart sank.

Happy Siblings Day to these two weirdos. Loved having everyone together again at my wedding. Loved it even more that we finally got to meet baby brother’s new girlfriend who is the sweetest!

“What’s his name?” Leon looked over to Sebastian again. “Can you tell?”

Sebastian took his phone back and shrugged. “Look at the tagged names. Obviously we know Karina’s and if they are siblings then look for last names that are the same. Here we go…Cosmo is your guy. Or, I guess it’s more like her guy. Heh. What the fuck kind of name is Cosmo.”

Leon groaned but curiosity eventually got the better of him. At various points throughout the day, he was looking through multiple forms of social media belonging to a floppy haired hipster that had somehow caught Karina’s eye. He was mainly active on instagram, posting random landscapes and other seemingly artistic compositions. Leon was relieved that he didn’t see any pictures of Karina on there but when he came across a few pictures of Elsa, that was somehow worse. It had now become a serious relationship in his mind because Karina had allowed her beloved dog around this man.

Karina had effectively vanished from the face of the Earth in the 14 months since she left Leon. At first, Leon thought she had just blocked him but when she ‘liked’ one of his posts about a charity endeavor he and Joshua were working on, Leon realized she had just been silent. That initial ‘like’ broke the seal, it seemed, and just like that, she became active again. There were a few selfies and a few more pictures of Elsa but then came the pictures of Elsa and the new boyfriend. It wasn’t a blatantly obvious picture of the two of them, but he recognized the fragment of a roman numeral tattoo he had on his arm from other pictures.

While laying in bed one night, Leon was scrolling through pictures. Mathea moved closer and rested her head on his shoulder. “Who’s that?”

“Oh, um..” Leon cleared his throat and thought of how he could explain that he was essentially stalking the new love interest of his estranged wife. “Karina has a new boyfriend.”

Mathea took his phone and looked at pictures of the two of them and sneered. “He’s got a big nose. Whatever, you’re hotter.”

It made Leon feel at least a bit better to hear her say that, but there was now way Mathea could be objective. He had decided to give Karina a call and see if she would actually answer. Karina had donated a sizable amount to his charity and calling to say thank you seemed to be a good reason. To his surprise, she answered.

“Hi Leon, what’s up?”

He instantly smiled. “Hey, Maus. I, uh, wanted to say thank you for your donation. That was really generous of you.”

“Of course.” She held the phone away and coughed. “You and Joshua are doing great things, I’m happy to help.”

“Right…” He nodded even though she wouldn’t be able to see him. He wanted to say it was good to hear her voice, that he was happy she was ok and hoped she was doing well but all of a sudden, the words came before he had the chance to stop himself. “Mathea found your wedding dress the other day. I guess I could ship it to you?”

“Oh, um, honestly, I don’t want it back. You can do what you want with it.” She hesitated. “Listen, Leon, I was thinking it’s time that we finalize things. We’re kinda in limbo right now and I think we both just need to move on. I’m going to be in Munich next week, would you be able to meet with our lawyers?”

Leon let out a sigh. She was right, but it still hurt him to hear it. “Um, yeah. We can do that.”

They sat in a meeting room around a circular table and had an unsurprisingly civil conversation.

“I see that you maintained separate accounts so that makes the division of assets somewhat more straightforward.” Leon’s lawyer shuffled some papers before addressing Karina specifically. “Will you be petitioning for spousal support, Ms. Müller?”

Karina shook her head. “No. I’m not asking for anything, I just want this to be finalized so we can move on.”

His lawyer nodded. “And you are fine with returning the ring and vacating the residence?”

“My client has already returned the ring and has maintained a residence in Toronto for the past year.” Karina’s lawyer interjected now. “We are mainly concerned with making sure that your client will not be trying to get anything from Ms. Müller.”

“I see there is a dog, was the animal obtained together-”

“Elsa belongs to Karina. I’m not contesting that.” Leon spoke up. “Any piece of artwork too, it’s all hers.”

“Ok,” Karina’s lawyer responded. “Both parties agree to part with what they entered the marriage with. Is this correct?”

“I don’t know…I guess i just feel like…” Leon sighed heavily as he pinched the bridge of his nose. “I feel like we’re rushing things along.”

Karina sat perfectly still in the chair next to him, straight as a pin. “Leon, we’ve been separated for over a year, it’s time for us to move on.”

Leaning forward to rest his elbows on his knees, Leon sighed again and tried to wrap his mind around how their relationship had progressed to this point. “Alright. What do you need me to sign?”

Once the papers were signed and notarized, their lawyers shook hands and departed leaving Leon and Karina to sit in silence.

“Do, um…” Leon was getting frustrated with how hesitant he was feeling. “Would you want to get dinner tonight?”

Karina opened her mouth before frowning slightly. “Leon, that sounds very nice but I’m not sure if that’s the best idea.”

“Yeah, I get that. It’s just this feels like a shitty way to close things.” He shrugged. “I thought this would be an ok way to make it up to you.”

She started to say that there was no need to make anything up to her, she held no ill will towards him but ultimately she thought better of it and simply nodded. Karina would have rather done anything else than to sit down to dinner with him but considered it one last good faith effort before moving on completely.

Leon set the reservations at the restaurant of the Charles hotel where Karina was staying. He had done so out of convenience for Karina, she knew that, but she also knew he had probably forgotten the time when they sat in the same restaurant and she confessed that she was hopelessly in love with him.

With a sigh, she pulled a simple black shirt dress from the closet and made sure it hadn’t gotten too wrinkled in travel. After deciding that her hair and makeup were fine, Karina checked at the front desk but was shown to the table despite Leon having not arrived yet.

She glanced over the menu but didn’t see anything that really jumped out at her so she let her eyes wander around the restaurant. Karina looked up towards the entrance just in time to see Leon holding the door open for Mathea who was wearing the same dress Karina wore to their wedding. Seeing the two of them walk in together caused Karina’s stomach to plummet to the floor. She saw a server pass and she held up one finger to flag him down. “I’m sorry, could I get a double vodka soda with a slice of lemon, please? Thanks.”

She stood as they were ushered to the table, avoiding any sort of eye contact as they sat down.

Leon smiled and placed a hand on her forearm. “You look great, Mausi.”

Karina smiled but more out of a desire to be polite. Mathea being there to begin with put her on edge, but the display of affection from Leon only made it worse.

Mathea didn’t pass up the opportunity to look her over from head to toe, ending her gaze with a smirk. “Do you ever wear anything with color?”

“Rarely.” Leon had to stop himself from laughing as Karina delivered the line deadpan.

Her expression turning to a sneer, Mathea would not let Karina get away with besting her. “You look like a nun only there’s the problem of your devil worship-”

“Mathea, enough.” Leon cut in now, attempting to keep a somewhat civil conversation.

“It’s nice to see you as well, Mathea.” Karina offered a kind but entirely forced smile. “A bit unexpected if I do say so, especially in that dress.”

Mathea grinned. “It’s lovely, isn’t it? I needed to have it taken in, I was practically swimming in it before!”

Leon immediately ducked his head. “Sorry, I thought you’d be bringing…sorry.”

“Bringing who?” She pressed him, curious as to who Leon would have had in mind.

He inhaled deeply. “I thought your boyfriend would have come with you.”

“Nope. Just me.” Karina forced a smile. “No boyfriend.”

“Hmm.” Mathea smiled more smugly now. “That’s a shame. Leon and I just got back from Ibiza, we had a great time together with Marius.”

“Lovely.” Karina nodded slightly, attempting not to bristle at the mention of her brother. “Glad you had fun.”

Leon went on about various events and goings on, seemingly oblivious to Mathea’s desire to agitate Karina and Karina’s subsequent distress.

“You know,” Mathea looked over to Leon and smiled fondly. “I’ve always wanted to see what you call ‘the big house’. I’ve always wondered of it really was that big.”

Leon hesitated, knowing that would be a sore spot. “No, that’s not really-”

“It's being rented, actually,” Karina hadn’t intended it to be a jab but the shocked look plastered on Mathea’s face was incredible satisfying. “About eight months ago.”

Mathea shook her head. “No, you had no right to do that without consulting us. What if we wanted to use it? I thought it would make a nice setting for a wedding.”

“A wedding…” She spoke softly and did her best not to show her irritation that Mathea was even part of this discussion. “It's my house, my estate. I discussed my thoughts with Olga and she was ready to move on as well. Apparently Marwin told her that he didn’t want me to feel weighed down by the house and should sell it if I wanted to. I thought about that but I didn't want to part with it because of my memories with Marwin there.”

It wasn't intentional, but Karina enjoyed watching Leon flinch when she mentioned wanting to hold on to her memories of Strohmann.    

“But you were married. Leon should have gotten half.” Mathea was practically scowling now. “Or spousal support.”

Leon held his hands up. “No. There is no reason for me to ask anything of Karina just because she’s worth more than I am. I’m not going to be petty or vindictive because you want a bigger place to live.”

The waiter had arrived with Karina’s drink and prepared to take their orders as well when she stopped him. “Thank you, but I think I’m actually just going to take this to my room. If you could charge their meal to my room as well?”

Slightly dumbfounded, the waiter nodded as Karina stood and raised her glass to Mathea and Leon. “Enjoy.”

Back in her room, Karina drained her glass quickly. The alcohol hit her hard on an empty stomach but it wasn’t enough to numb her yet. She grabbed the room service menu and ordered a dinner she would appreciate much more than anything at Sofia’s and a bottle of Prosecco to wash it down with.

Leon was visibly sullen for the rest of the evening which only frustrated Mathea.

“What are you so pissed about?” Mathea sat in the passenger seat and sulked.

It took Leon a minute to respond. “You could have pretended to be nice.”

“Sorry? I just figured we’re never going to like each other and we’re never going to see her again so why bother?” She reached over and rested her hand on his thigh. “Besides, we can actually talk about getting married now.”

Leon didn’t respond. He figured it would be better to wait to tell her that he wasn’t sure he ever wanted to get married again.

I have a request. (And no. There is no personal matter related to this. My opinion on all the drama isn't relevant and not what I'm here about.) You are claiming that a friend of mine is making wild accusations about you while also doing the same to xem. This is getting you nowhere. What it /is/ doing is upsetting me a fuckton seeing all the lies being spread. My friend's already dropped it; do the same, why don't you?

I’m not “Claiming” anything.  I don’t make “Wild” accusations.  

A few days ago I saw a funny Sandman post.  I realized it was by someone who had blocked me some time ago.  I got frustrated because that person’s original reason for blocking me was they claimed I was pro-incest (made that accusation while I was trying to promote their Dreaming Discord for them…).  Then when they realized I wasn’t pro-incest they claimed I was stalking them by reblogging everything they post.  No, I just follow the damn Sandman tag!  

Then they changed their reason for why they blocked me and THIS was told me by someone who never read Sandman.

THIS person (who did nothing to me) thought I was into a child / old man ship BECAUSE of what they were told and they, themselves, had never read Sandman.  Do you know how gross that makes me feel? 

That’s a picture, not “Wild accusation” on my part.  That person spoke to me and said the reason xe had me on block was because I ship a three-year-old and “Some old guy.” a person who never read Sandman thought this about me.

I was told xe would “unblock me” when I’d delete my Morpheus / Daniel ship posts.  But I don’t even write erotic ships! So it was a serious WTF moment.

 I write about the emotional  / intellectual connection of two adult beings, with the same memories and intellect, and eight-billion or so years worth of knowledge, that are technically both aspects of the same larger being (they are facets of Dream of The Endless).   And one of the posts had been liked by the author.  “Oh, they have Neilman on block too.”     (That’s when I decided I no longer cared about being blocked. I’m in good company on that blocked list.)

See, I don’t lie about people to try to make them look bad or to justify ill-treatment of them.

Did you know a single typo in a long conversation of using the right pronouns meant I “must” have been misgendering them on purpose?!   They were looking for reasons to continue to mistreat me and trying to make me look awful.   

I was linked to a fan art yesterday with no knowledge of whose blog it was so xe started NEW accusations when I made the mistake of reblogging them.  Because NOT knowing their alts MUST mean I’m stalking them!

 It’s not like this is a tiny fandom and three different people showed me that art and had the idea “Ooh, new Sandman related stuff.  TheNightling might like this!” I used to be able to share EVERYTHING Sandman related without issue. As I just follow the damn Sandman tag.  Most of us do.   It’s a small fandom.   

I wrongfully yelled at @jr4cats for linking to me that piece with me when I know she just wanted to share a post she thought I’d like, because I usually share most of the Sandman posts we find.  Neither one of us knew who had done it, we don’t usually look at “about” pages.  It used to be that in our tiny fandom you could just like and appreciate any work of art without fear of “Uh, oh, did the person who dragged my name through the mud make this?”

As I said, I don’t leap to conclusions.  EVERYTHING I have said is truth. I don’t LIKE lies and I don’t appreciate someone “who doesn’t want to take sides” essentially accusing me of lying.

This account both got me back into BNHA and got me shipping Deku and Todoroki. I just want to thank you for that, because the anime is pretty good and the ship is adorable

I really, really wasn’t all that into BNHA back in, uh……. October??? Somewhere around that. Not long before Youmacon 2018.

And like. two of my friends REALLY liked it and they were like “you should watch this, we think you’d dig this Todoroki kid.” (Note: they said this at Colossal 2018..? I think?)

(Spoiler: I both hate and love @cellotherapy & @twilight-symphony because it was their fault.)

So I’m like, “WeelllLLllll… I tried it before and I didn’t really get into it… but the Todoroki kid does have a pretty swag design…”

Instead, I studied Todoroki like I was about to write my dissertation on him because one of my best friends ( @twilight-symphony) really liked this TodoDeku thing and I’d seen some art and I was like, “Yeah, this is pretty cute, sure. I’ll study it and RP it for you to make you happy Best Friend.”

But then because of Todoroki and wanting to see him happy and seeing him get Happiness from Izuku happened I was like, “Well, dammit. I need to study the show so I can better RP Todoroki for my best friend.”

(Side Note: Interestingly enough, I saw Two Heroes before I actually saw more than half of Season 1.

Edit 1: I even cosplayed. I put together a last minute cosplay to wear to this movie. I went as Todoroki and @twilight-symphony was Izuku and we were actually a small hit. it seemed to make people happy.)

So I dragged my parents into watching the show with me because… I dunno Raisins. And while getting them to sit down and watch something goddammit just watch it with me because if I watch it solo you won’t watch it with me again aAuUUUUGHHGLKSDJFKLSJDF–

Ahem.

So like, we’ve all been watching it as a family and it’s really nice because it’s bringing us together to enjoy a thing and somehow I ended up falling face-first into this goddamn fucking fandom when all I ever wanted to do was RP Todoroki well to make a friend happy.

And now I’m this terrible mess who has adopted a new son and his future husband (haha… ha… I can dream) and distantly adopted all these children and root for their happiness. 

All because I wanted to RP my precious IcyHot CandyCane well for my Best Friend’s Sparky Bunny Boi.

So between getting my Official Shouto Todoroki Nerd degree and trying to figure out how to RP Todoroki in a way that didn’t make me look like I was doing off random fandom stuff, I was getting this stream of fucking adorable cute shit pretty good art which kept prompting me to study Todoroki MORE because this art was too cute for my soul and I wanted to know more about these two.

And like, I go them like: “Why are you doing this to me innocent heart?” and HannaLu was like:

“Bwuahahahahahahahahahaha. ONE OF US! ONE OF US! ONE OF US!”

And then they reblogged MORE OF IT and LINKED ME TO EVEN MORE IN DMS and I was VERY UPSET (Read: Very in love with this ship and Happy.

You can see how this progression happened because I used to only have ONE BNHA tag which was “I care about ONE BOY!!” and then I started to care about Izuku a lot because of all three of this fuckers lovely people which developed my second BNHA tag “I lied I care about two” but THAT turned into the “Quirky Boyfriends” tag for TodoDeku things.

And that is how I ended up where I am today and now have a super adorable TodoDeku Itabag that I hope to post a new picture of soon once the three charms I’m waiting on arrive in the mail.

But actually I base my designs for Kirishima’s casual clothes completely on his official casual clothes (which is to say, his shifuku) and the stuff he’s worn in canon already ( x x x x x ) - people consider him a fashion disaster for the crocs, mostly, and I guess the patterns of his shirts? Ah, personally I don’t dislike either so I guess he doesn’t come off as a disaster in my doodles hahaha

I’d lie if I said I don’t have a couple of doodles saved somewhere in my art folder, but to be fair my gb Baku and Kiri are... exactly like Baku and Kiri, I wouldn’t really change them all that much, so I never find it much worth it to talk about it? I think Bakugou might have been a bit different in backstory since being a girl would have made people less, uh, sure he was destined to beat All Might or whatever, but in general he’d stay the same imho. Kiri too, he wouldn’t change all that much either. Their designs also, their quirks require them to be buff after all. I dunno man I just don’t think them being girls would change all that much about them so my ideas on this specific aus are always a bit eh, sorry!

That was actually a small variation of a scene already present in the manga (central panel here) so being as objective as I can be I’d say it was just bones playing on how much fans love the ship - that said, it’s still canon to the manga that Kirishima didn’t trust Bakugou where he couldn’t keep his hands on him and make sure he was there and safe? That’s adorable and I’ve been crying over that for two years now ;^;

No matter what anyone says, the distance between them- it’s his fault. It’s his fault, and his stupid feelings, his stupid affection towards her that is causing the ache in his chest and causing the way she’s across the room, laughing at another guy’s joke, that soft lovely laugh that sounds like home, away from him and seeming to be that way for ages. She of course, looks beautiful, warm and kind, her fingers wrapped delicately around a champagne flute that looks like heaven.

God, it’s pathetic, isn’t it? To be jealous of something like that, to just want to be so close to her as to feel her presence. But he’s the one who messed it up, so.

She was so pretty, her hair curled and light, biting her lip in concentration, fixing a loose hair from Wanda’s hair-do, and he can’t breathe because he remembers how good it used to feel when she ran his hands through his hair, how if he hadn’t fucked up, maybe they’d be dancing, maybe Wanda would tease them about how happy and in love they were.

But when she had told him, when she’s shyly poured her heart to him, her pretty lips curled into that faint smile, doe eyes pointed down and not meeting his gaze, and told him that she’d thought of him that way.

He’d said exactly what he shouldn’t have.

He said that them being together was an ill-advised idea (even though his heart jumped at her wanting him), that he doesn’t think he’s ready, (but he is, he is and his heart is leaping out of his chest at the idea of them together, of them laughing of her near him-) that he just didn’t see her that way.

(Have you heard such lies before? He would spend forever fighting for her happiness, do it it with a smile all the way through it meant she’d have one too. She’s the closest thing he’s had to a blessing.)

And he hates himself for how she crumbled, and he knows her too well, knows her well enough to see that she was closing up (and all he wanted to do was scoop her up and kiss her, all over her face until she was smiling, ear to ear. He could, now. He could make her happy, he could-) and he sees her nod, smiling brightly, but false- false.

And there she is tonight, beautiful, so beautiful and lovely, like something from an art gallery bright to life.

“Buck,” he hears a honey coated voice say, meet his ears like grace, soft hands reach for his wrist, and he thinks of how she was sweet, so sweet and lovely, and how he fucked up by telling her no.

“You okay?” Her voice is drenched with sympathy, bright eyes looking up at him with concern, and he crumbles.

She still cares for him, and he feels a heavy cocktail of guilt and relief trail down his chest like a curse.

And because she’s her, and she knows him (because she loves him), she can tell he’s panicking, tell he’s starting to spiral because the party is crowded and big and he’s never had to do this without her before.

She drags him into an empty hallway, and he tries not to enjoy the way her hands fit with his, or how soft her fingers are, twined with his, or how her thumb rubs circles in the back of his hand.

“Uh-“

“You don’t have to say, I know I made things…weird, but you can still talk to me. I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have brought it up.”

Her hands let go of his, and he hates how he can’t help himself from grabbing it back, making her eyes snap up at him. And it turns out her eyes are his Achilles heel.

“Did you mean it?” He hates how desperate he sounds, his voice shaking and trembling hands gripping hers like she’s his tether.

“Bucky,” there’s too much softness in her voice, and the way he says his name- he might collapse, honestly. He might. “Of course I meant it. That’s the issue here, isn’t it?”

She sounds confused.

“No, no, please don’t think that,” and he doesn’t care about the desperation that coats his voice, “You’re never the problem. Never, you’re perfect, okay? You’re- you’re the best thing that ever happened to me. You’re not the issue here.”

She nods, moving the hand he isn’t holding to touch his cheek and he feels like he’s going to burst, going to overflow with affection for the girl he doesn’t deserve to have.

“James,” her gaze is intense, looking at him with jewel-eyes he loves so, so much, “If I’m not- if what I said isn’t- then why aren’t we dancing and laughing and being together?” There’s something of a giggle on the edge of her voice, like it’s so obvious.

And it is, isn’t it? He wants her, wants every piece of her, is addicted to her worse than any drug and yet the cliche proves true; he doesn’t deserve her.

She looks so pretty, the blue light of the party lights hitting her face in patterns, throwing designs on her face, and she looks at him curiously, and he knows he’s been blessed to have someone like her love him. God, he’s so blessed.

But she’s not blessed with someone like him, she’s not blessed to love someone whose got so many broken parts there’s not a part of him you couldn’t nick yourself on.

“You… you’re somethin’ else, doll.” He breathes, eyes flickering to her lips, trying not to let himself revel in the way her hand feels on his cheek, so tender and loving and warm. Warmest he’s ever felt.

“Bucky,” her voice is barely below a whisper, “Why haven’t you kissed me?”

“I don’t think you’d really want me to.” He hears his own voice, is that his voice? He’s not sure, not sure at all, sound of it crackly and broken.

Then she smiles, grazes his cheek with er so-soft lips, smile evident in the delicacy of her touch.

“I know you don’t think of much of yourself,” her breath is sweet, probably from the champagne she’d drank and he could get drunk off of it, of the way being so close to her makes him feel, “But I think the world of you, Buck.”

Somehow his arms have ended around her waist and she fits into him like she was made from him, like they were carved from the same stone and he’s incredibly aware of the fact he’s about to kiss the love of his life.

He nods, and she smiles that perfect, heart-stopping smile.

She kisses him, smiling into it and he is too, his fingers in her hair and his metal ones around her waist, and he’s lighter than air.

He’s lighter than the party and the music that they’ve hidden away from, and he’s never been so blessed for the life. He has, here and now.

HEY DIPSHIT YOU’RE WORKING FOR A DEMON 2. What is this character’s greatest flaw? His dependency. His reliance on faith was a pretty poor coping mechanism for the death of his family, and only fueled an (unsuccessful) campaign to kill the monsters of Innistrad. This let him easily be manipulated by a demon masquerading as a remnant of Avacyn, and well...yeah. 3. What do you know about this character that s/he would never admit? The dorky kid he trained with as cathars is going to end up saving his life. 4. What is this character’s greatest asset? His preparedness. Years of isolation and fervent hatred for the monster races of Innistrad allowed him to cook up a bunch of different tools and strategies to kill them. 5. If this character could choose a different identity, who would s/he be? Honestly? A baker. 6. What music does this character sing to when no one else is around? He really, earnestly loves Kaladeshi party songs from his time there after his first planeswalk. He keeps sheet music of them around. 7. In what or whom does this character have the greatest faith? He still holds faith in Avacyn after her death, which led to his manipulation by the demon Süldrum. After he was saved from that sordid mess with @odric-master-swagtician ‘s Ian, and the two slew the demon, he shifted over to the ‘save those who cannot save themselves’ side of things more than ‘kill all monsters’ than he was previously. 8. What is this character’s favorite movie? What the hell is a movie?

9. Does this character have a favorite article of clothing? Favorite shoes? Whatever keeps him alive is his current favorite. He’s very much practicality over aesthetics. 10. Does this character have a vice? Name it. Johann, at least to start, is a bit of a legend amongst the Innistradi for being a brutal, wrathful slayer of the monstrous. His black-and-white morality tends to view humanity = good and monsters = evil, despite the dramatic irony of a vampire creating the angel he worshipped. This smooths out over time, but he still has a subconscious cruel streak towards his foes. 11. Name this character’s favorite person (living or dead. By default, Johann doesn’t stick around too many other people, so it’d probably be Ian, since he saved his life and all. 12. What is this character’s secret wish? He wants everyone good, Innistradi or off-plane, to be safe. Mainly so his work can be done and he can live some semblance of a normal life. 13. What is this character’s proudest achievement? Felling the demon Süldrum alongside Ian, destroying an offshoot of the Skirsdag known as the Eclipse in the process. The event slightly reversed the negative opinion people had of him once news spread. 14. Describe this character’s most embarrassing moment. Pick any moment in the prank wars Ian and Johann had in their cathar training youth, basically. 15. What is this character’s deepest regret? His entire time as an unwitting servant of the demon Süldrum. The demon posed as Avacyn, and commanded him to exterminate the monsters of Innistrad, as well as those throughout the Multiverse. Many of them were simply enemies of Süldrum he wanted eliminated, with Johann none the wiser. It took the intervention of Ian, a near duel to the death between the two, and their combined efforts to end the demon’s machinations and his hold on Johann. 16. What is this character’s greatest fear? Nonserious: His ichthyophobia. The guy fucking hates fish despite being raised in Nephalia as the son of a fisherman. Serious: The possibility that if he wasn’t stopped, Johann would’ve murdered plenty of innocent people under Süldrum’s command. 17. Describe this character’s most devastating moment. The combined shock of his loss to Ian--who he’d soundly bested for years in their cathar training, as well as the revelation that ‘Avacyn’ was actually a Skirsdag demon manipulating him was a supremely humbling moment. 18. Whom does this character most wish to please? Why? Honestly? The common folk. He doesn’t stick around in too many people’s lives for long, so he hopes the impression he makes is a good and inspiring one. 24. Describe this character’s mother. Lorelei Gottschalk was a housewife, but was far more crass than one would expect from that position. Her foul-mouth, take-no-shit attitude, and feisty nature won over Sergei, and the two settled down in Nephalia to raise a family by the sea.  Johann learned to cook from her, and if it wasn’t for her own ingenuity in the kitchen, he may never have learned how to be as handy with tools or food as he is today. 25. Describe this character’s father. Sergei Gottschalk was a fisherman on the coast of Nephalia, and one of the pillars of his community bringing home most of the food for it’s people. While he would frequently have to go out on lengthy trips, he would always make sure to spend time with his family once he was back home. He’d often joke Avacyn was ‘testing’ him by giving him a son with a fear of fish who usually refused to eat it, but was always good-hearted and patient with his son. Johann’s fondest memory with his father was on his tenth birthday, when they were practicing fishing and he ‘miraculously’ (read: his father planted) caught a silvered necklace of Avacyn’s collar. He still has it to this day. 26. If s/he had to choose, with whom would this character prefer to live? His mother, if only because living on a fishing ship for a majority of his life would kill the man. 27. Where does this character fall in birth order? What effect does this have? Only child.  28. Describe this character’s siblings or other close relatives. None to speak of, really. 29. Describe this character’s bedroom. Include three cherished items. Most of Johann’s life is spent nomadically, but he does have a storage attic he rents out in Kaladesh he rents out and occasionally visits during times of rest. 1. His silvered Avacyn’s collar necklace (See #25) 2. Daybreak, his separating customized sword. 3. Morbid, but he keeps the pulled teeth of the neonate that killed his family in a glass container. It reminds him of his duty and what can happen when he’s not there to protect people. 30. What is this character’s birth date? How does this character manifest traits of his/her astrological sign? Johann was born on the (Innistradi equivalent?) of May 14th, making him a Taurus. Tauruses are: Independent, persistent, and stubborn. (sounds good to me) 31. If this character had to live in seclusion for six months, what items would s/he bring? Most of his life is done in seclusion, so...this is kind of just ‘default’ Johann? He’d bring all his survival gear and weapons. 32. Why is this character angry? BRO HE FAMILY DEAD AND MOST OF HIS ADULT LIFE IS A LIE 33. What calms this character? - brave new world: my train wreck of a klance fic that is STILL sitting unfinished... one day ambrusia, one day... i am really attached to the work itself, i just have trouble continuing it. it was my first fic and what got me into writing after all, so it’ll always be dear to me! this fic is also what gave me confidence to start talking about certain topics <3 i kind of owe my recovery to this fic? i would have never opened up if i hadn’t written brave new world.

- you are my double full: this is a klance all star cheerleading au... i’m so sorry. basically i smashed my two biggest hyperfixations together and out popped yamdf. i really like the premise of it and i already know the story, now i just gotta stumble across the time.

- ex defenders of the universe: i wanted to explore how the paladins would adjust back into life after the war ended... will i ever finish this? idk.

- hocus pocus: VLD AU OFF THE MOVIE THAT’S ALL FOLKS. it was supposed to be released for halloween but after the first chapter i just couldn’t find the motivation to do it.

- an ocean of you: klance + college + aquariums + turtles!! i really want to finish this one day!!

- death to the angel: hey did you know that a/b/o is actually a commentary on feminism? or at least it can be. this is a victorian sheith fic i’m collabing with the wonderful @sugaryshiro! i never thought i’d really write a/b/o even though i do like the domestic bonding side of it, but sometimes you’ve just gotta do it.

- kerberos flight shatt: i’ve talked about this briefly but i’m sort of planning a slowburn shatt au?? complete with zero gravity dates, mnm competitions, and uno games. im not sure how much i’ll get to BUT i really like it!

- expensive: could there be a fake relationship shance fic in the works? who knows!!

- masquerade: hey, im not saying keitor but... keith and lotor both going undercover at a ball for a mission (obv lotor for himself, keith is with the blade) and they meet each other. they can’t tell who the other is and just begin talking and eventually discover they both have a lot in common...

undertale suite - i started arranging an orchestral variation to some songs from undertale (i fell in love with that soundtrack) back in sophomore year! i’ve been working on it on and off for a while now, just whenever i’m feeling up to it. i’m really proud of what i have so far!

unwritten acapella - im part of an acapella group a my school and i’m working on arranging unwritten for us! in my sophomore year i arranged wings and we killed it.

animal crossing new leaf daily themes - i don’t talk about it a lot, but i looooove animal crossing. im trying to put together something for it!
