Still blows my mind the disparity between the Eng and the JP localization of Sonic Frontiers

So in the og English Tails expresses that he needs to part ways from Sonic so he can grow into a hero on his own, right? That he can't grow by being with him?

But like. The director of the game, who worked with Ian Flynn, worked on the JP localization and it's like. You're telling me that when they localized that scene for the Japanese audience

That it was about Tails learning that there are things only he can do? That instead of concluding that he needs to part ways from Sonic and become a hero, he just comes to realizes the ways in which he and Sonic fill each other's gaps? He learns that he already is on equal footing with Sonic. The two of them are just heroes who save people in different ways?

ahem. and if i may be completely unwell about the moose and slug for a moment,

i keep thinking about a post-story scene where lumpus and slinkman's relationship is still in rocky territory, and they have like... kind of a half-arguement getting ready for bed and it doesn't really go anywhere but there's still a tension in the air, and then a moment of silence as they settle and face each other in the dark. there's a beat. and then slinkman just... reaches over to take lumpus' glasses off (he'd always been in the habit of adjusting them over the years), and he's confused for a second, and slinkman's just like "you shouldn't sleep with those on. you're going to break them" which is like, ah, yes, completely logical action, and something he's told him a million times,

but it's Also like "Oh, God. even when you don't have to anymore, and you said you'd stop doing it all the time, and you're mad at me, you're still taking care of me just because you care enough to that it's complete subconscious instinct for you to do so. i'm gonna jump off a cliff"

because, when you're in the dark, in complete silence, sharing a shoddy pull-out couch bed in the basement of your stupid hand-me-down bait-and-tackle shop with your life-long best friend, your only friend, almost a bit like you used to when you'd push your beds closer together at night the camp you loved all those years ago, well, then there's also nothing else around to distract from the fact that you appreciate that more than anything in the entire world

and so lumpus takes a second and is like ....Right. (voice crack) Of course. and turns to face the ceiling and feels like he's going to be sick <- (i love nausea being one of lumpus' gut responses to feeling things ❤️)

I'm starting to dread (ha) Dreadwolf, partly because Solas is the main antagonist and I have...... Absolutely no feelings about him at all, actually. The best I can summon is a big old "meh". And if they center him (which it seems like they plan to) and make a big deal about whether you want to kill him or redeem him or stop him or join him... Well frankly I just won't care and I'm worried that means I won't have a damn thing to care about in the game's main plot

I'm also worried that his success or failure at taking down the veil will be preordained since that's too big of a plot line to leave up to the player - there just wouldn't be any way to structure future games to account for that player choice. This is obviously a less well founded worry, but it makes it really hard for me to care about the stakes of the game

Idk I'm not trying to shit on people who are excited for this game (I am too, despite the bitching and moaning) but it's really hard to get excited for a game when the one thing you know about it is so completely uninteresting to you

#Also I'm begging bioware to give us new characters blease #Ugh part of the issue is all I can imagine for the game is you do some mission and Solas shows up and is like 10 steps ahead of you or #Whatever and he gives some longwinded speech and you get two dialogue reactions that don't even remotely resemble #What you character would say and then you do that 6 more times and that's the game!#Don't get me wrong a game where the protagonist loses can be fascinating - I think da2 is actually a great example of this #But given the sheer number of iterations this game has gone through (I believe we're on the 3rd full redesign) I'm worried #I'm worried about the game overall and the main story especially #Again partly because I just can't seem to give a shit about Solas. He just does nothing for me #A lot of people clearly do have strong feelings about him but for me it's just “oh. You again.”#And the fact that the whole damn game is named after him makes me think he's gonna be a main fixture #Sigh #Fingers crossed we get some more info soon and I get something that does grab my interest #Frankly I'm probably being unfair by getting worried about a game when all I know is its title but yeesh it feels like they've been talking #About it forever even though we don't actually know that much about it at this point #da dreadwolf

As someone who hates the sisyphean task of cleaning, how dare my mental health prefer a clean room.

welcome to a new series- that i'm going to call "paradigm pwednesday" because there aren't any days of the week that start with p so pwednesday is just going to have to- where i write something in paradigm and share it because otherwise i'm never going to finish this book

8/2 (somewhere in chapter seven)

But now she's at the motel, alone, and it's been hours. Sid had two people to take down tonight, so it certainly makes sense that he'd be taking longer than Delilah, but it still doesn't make it any easier to handle. She's not so much worrying about the man as wondering what it would mean in terms of Marcus. If Sid got caught, would Marcus blame her? Probably not. They're partners, sure, but it's clear that Marcus thinks of Sid in a higher regard than Delilah. It might make sense for Marcus to blame Sid if something went wrong with her, but not the other way around. Sid has at least twenty years of this under his belt, which means if anything happens it's his own damn fault. Somehow, the thought isn't as comforting as she thinks it should be.

So...There was a huge charity sale thingy on TTRPGS on itch.io and so I bought a metric fuckton of them for 5 bucks (+ a little extra bc ya'know charity.)

I did this despite the fact that I haven't actually RPed (let alone used a pen and paper one) since my long-bygone school days. I literally don't even have anyone to play with. Why did I buy these???

#DS7's Log #Oh right #because they were like 505 for like 5 bucks when the normal price would've been like...twenty two hundred something #and like /fuck/ I was gonna pass that up.#Good deals on stuff make dragon-hoarding instincts go brrr haha #:D #Ah the good ol' days #of trying (and failing) to hold campaigns during class and inevitably getting the papers snatched up by the math teacher #and spending nights up until the crack of dawn just forever dming on old fanclub bbs message boards and the ancient DA chat function #fuck I'm old...#But y'know if I hadn't spent all that time dming I would've never discovered my love of crafting stories for other people.#So mixed feelings.#Ugh this makes me sound like an ad or something ick.

you stood adjusting your dress as excited chatter filled the room. the party was now in full swing and oscar had still not shown up. sure you had your doubts that he wouldn't but you had known oscar all your life, he wouldn't do that to you.

as if on cue the front door swings open and none other than the man himself steps inside before scanning the room. it's not long before his eyes latch onto yours and it feels as though your heart stops. you can't remember the last time you had seen him and the last time you weren't having an argument over something. oscar smiles and your heart begins to thump in your chest as you see him making his way over to you.

"hey" a familair voice beckons your attention.

you look up at him and smile when you notice that he wore the costume." nice costume" you say giggling as you tuck your hair behind your ear.

"oh yeah my best friend got it for me"

you nod smiling back at him. "so how have you been?"

you roll your eyes before drawing your attention back to him. "is this your subtle way of asking if me and lando are still together"

"i don't care about that" he blatantly lies, scrunching his nose.

"well if you must know we are taking a break right now he said he was too busy for a serious relationship".

oscar scoffs. "what an asshole".

"he's your bestfriend" you say confusingly as you believed that lando and oscar were close.

your heart warms when you hear that and you feel as though in that moment your friendship has been mended through unspoken words. yet you still wished that he would notice, notice how obviously and madly in love with him you are. you watched as he looked into the distance and there you sat admiring something from afar and out of reach.
