This is the first book by Ufuomaee I am reading and the question on my heart is, "Where have you been all my life?" 🏖 The bends and curves of this book was exhilarating. I loved how effortlessly impacting the words of this book was. As I was reading, I was imaging the author sitting in front of an audience reading the book out in a very gentle and quiet voice and majority of the audience with their hands on the chests and tears in their eyes. 🏖 This book illustrated love, forgiveness and restoration in an absolutely touching and real way. The characters were phenomenal, even the not so good ones. 🏖 Lovers of a good and real story will love this book. Michael took a late afternoon flight from Los Angeles on Tuesday and, with a short stopover at Amsterdam, arrived on Wednesday evening at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos.  It was the most convenient and fastest return route he could take, as he couldn’t get a direct flight from LA to Lagos.  After almost 24 hours in commute, he finally made it to his apartment in Ikoyi. He’d called Temi when he landed, and she’d sounded happy to hear from him.  He really wanted to see her, but he was feeling quite jet lagged, so he thought he’d be better tomorrow, when he’d gotten a good rest and had adjusted to the time difference between the two continents.  His maid had resumed work yesterday, being notified of his return, so he came home to a clean, well-stocked apartment. He didn’t have much of an appetite, so he only ate a couple of apples and drank decaffeinated coffee, before he made to rest on his king-size bed.  Thankfully, he’d requested three weeks leave off work to attend to this family crisis, so he wasn’t due back at the hospital until Monday.  Before he gave in to sleep, he remembered to do one last thing... It was the morning of Samson’s arraignment at the Regional Magistrate Court of Lagos.  Mary, Ifeanyi and Samuel were in attendance.  The court room was quite vacant, with only a few family and friends coming to support the plaintiff. Mary looked across at the young lady who was seated at the front with the prosecutors.  She couldn’t get a good view of her.  She swallowed and faced forward, as the judge entered the courtroom. . “This honourable court of the Regional Magistrate Court of Lagos, with the Honourable Judge Folashade Ogunbiyi, is now in session.  It is COURT!!!” the court clerk announced the commencement of the hearing.  Everyone rose up and sat down again after the Magistrate did. . “Call the next case,” said the Magistrate. . “For arraignment, Criminal Case No. 32498 - The State vs. Samson Uwanna for the crime of Rape,” the clerk read. Lola and Bolu saw Temi and Oyinda after the service and went to greet them.  They’d both been blessed by the message, which reminded them of the importance of guarding their hearts and caring deeply for one another.  They were reminded to be watchful and not to be slack in their Christian discipline, because their enemy is like a roaring lion looking for who to devour. Bolu was particularly charged by the message.  He knew that with continual prayer and fellowship with God, he would always know what to do in the face of temptation.  He was now assured that he had done the right thing concerning Amaka.  If God wanted him to do otherwise, He would certainly make Himself clear on that.  Whatever Amaka’s issue, Dele was more than competent to represent her. . “That was a much-needed word,” he said to his friends, when they’d exchanged greetings. . “Yes,” Oyinda said. “I didn’t know that there were that many DAILY habits of Christians.  I mean, do you guys do the accountability thing he talked about?” . She moved aside for them to manoeuvre the appliance and watched as they also installed the oven too.  One of them was very attractive, and Cindy had to focus her attention on something else to keep from ogling him.  When they were done, he brought a form for her to sign, to acknowledge receipt of her goods. . “Thanks,” she mumbled as she signed it.  She looked at him just as she handed the pen back.  The look in his eyes made her step back.  He’d clearly noticed that she too was a beauty. This book is suspense filled and what struck me is the fact that @ufuomaee picked a part we are all shy to talk about in Christian dating and that is the place of chemistry and attraction in relationships. Nobody talks about it but it's very important and it's why a lot of women are enduring their relationships. We all see the signs but we are scared. I felt like screaming at some points in this book, it was so real and very relateable. The suspense will keep any reader captivated. However, when she got to her desk, the persistent caller dialled again.  This time, she picked the call.  She was not quite prepared for the emotions that hit her when she heard his voice.  Especially after last night.  After her new resolve to leave him, for his own sake.  Suddenly, it seemed unbearable. . “Hey,” Temi answered back. . “What’s going on, Temi?  You haven’t been picking any of my calls…  Is everything okay?  Did I do something wrong?” Michael rolled off one question after the other. Her mother snatches the paper from her hands and slams it back into mine, fury on her face.  “You should be ashamed of yourself!”  Just as quickly, she drags her child away from me. Undeterred, I continue to hand out my pamphlets, stopping to talk to anyone that will bother to stop to enquire as to its contents.  It’s been my practice for the last three months.  I just have this burning desire to see as many people saved from their sins as I can.  It hasn’t been easy though.  It’s a tough crowd out there, even though I thought being a former Atheist would make me more understanding and resilient in my efforts. “The Kingdom of God is at hand,” I say to a passing priest. So many thoughts were running through Temi’s mind as she returned to join her group for the journey home.  She saw Oyinda’s smile and felt his warm touch on her arm as he assisted her into the back seat, but she couldn’t return his kindness.  She averted her eyes when he tried to hold her gaze, and made a point of looking out of the window the whole way home. The pastor’s message today had been about “The Stone The Builders Rejected”; Jesus Christ.  Jimmy had paid rapt attention to the teaching, which had cemented together some of the things he had been studying on his own about Jesus and the Faith He brought.  He’d also noticed how keenly Fatima had listened to this sermon.  He’d smiled to himself when he’d seen her google the verse, Matthew 21:42, and read the entire passage on her phone. What had really resonated with him was the idea that ‘the Stone’ wasn’t simply Jesus, the Person, but the Word of God too.  It was God’s word that the builders rejected and refused to build their faith upon.  It was strange because these builders, the pharisees and teachers of the Jewish Law, were all well-versed and knowledgeable of the scriptures and the commandments of God.  But they missed a very crucial element, which Jesus also represented – God’s love.  God’s word wasn’t simply law, it was both Grace and Truth, and that was what Jesus brought, as John wrote about in John 1:17.  Jimmy smiled as it all began to make sense. Danny and Tolu walked hand in hand to their cabin after leaving the party.  When they got in, Danny went to ease himself, while Tolu brushed her teeth.  He grabbed her waist from the side when he was done. “Wash your hands!” she protested, moving aside for him. He did and dried them.  He kissed her shoulder and rubbed her back, muttering, “Don’t be long,” as he left the bathroom. Tolu spent some time freshening up for Danny, before returning to their bedroom in black lace lingerie.  The sound of a tired man snoring met her, and she sighed.  The Energizer bunny was down, she smiled. It was just as well.  They’d spent all afternoon in bed together and she was tired herself.  She switched off the light and got into bed beside her husband.  Instinctively, he turned to spoon her, and they fell asleep that way. . *** . Danny stirred in the night and realised that he’d slept off.  Tolu’s quiet breathing was rhythmic.  She was sound asleep. Danny’s old and new friends sang, as his wife carried a large chocolate cake with 40 lit candles on it, flanked by waiters bearing buckets of champagne and sparklers.  Danny smiled with his whole heart as he took in the sight.  He’d expected a celebration, but it was still a pleasant surprise.  Tolu had left him about 30 minutes earlier, saying she wanted to change into something more comfortable.  And she had.  The short, flowery, summer dress she now wore did things to him that he thought only the sexiest lingerie could. . “Hip hip hip!” Tolu sang. . “Hurray!!!” their friends jubilated. Tolu got to the table the waiters had set up with small chops and placed the cake down.  Danny stood over his cake and blew out the candles when prompted by his friends.  Bolu, the designated photographer, snapped away on the only camera the couples had brought along.  Danny pulled Tolu close and gave her a snog, which Bolu captured on film, while onlookers teased the newlyweds. .
