hey. talk abt reimari. unless you already have then any other specific combo of charas u find interesting or particularly like
REIMARI... oh it would be my honour to,, sorry for not getting to this sooner im not very eloquent when it comes to ships but i wanted to do this ask justice
funny enough both characters took a lot of time to grow on me. i didnt dislike either of them when i began the series, but they didnt quite click for me until i got to the latter half of the franchise, and after reaching that point i had a newfound appreciation for what came before it as well
a huge strength of both reimu and marisa is how dynamic and malleable their personalities are over the course of the series, and despite the large changes in outlook as time passes they still continue to act as two halves of the same whole, complementing each other by evolving to fit the roles that the other grows out of.
as a child, marisa is extremely brash and impulsive, marching to the beat of her own drum. in contrast, reimu is a lot more mature— comparatively, at least; at the end of the day she can be as much of a kid as marisa at times (see many early chapters of touhou kourindou ~ curiosities of lotus asia.). she is carefree, but still pragmatic when need be. she often fills the tsukkomi role whenever the two interact with each other in the early era of the franchise.
over time, though, reimus worldview changes from a generally optimistic one to a rather jaded one when it comes to her role in gensoukyou. as she starts to become disillusioned with her identity and her lifestyle, marisa begins to take up the more responsible role in many instances. while still staying true to her laissez-faire, free-spirited self, she is also more down to earth, considerate of others, and able to see the big picture.
you can see this big shift on display most distinctly in touhou ibarakasen ~ wild and horned hermit. the manga is framed from kasens unreliable point of view, so the duos behaviour should be taken with a grain of salt, but not so much as to doubt it entirely. at many points of the manga you can see reimu at her most irresponsible and vulnerable, and marisa very often acts as a straight man in those situations. one persons attitude is fitted to complement the other at their lowest point, and to match them as equals at their finest.
theres also a LOT of parts in ibarakasen where marisa is visibly affectionate with or worried for reimu. chapter 37 is iconic in the fanbase for showing them being blatantly flirty with each other, but theres many other points too. chapter 47 is an honest-to-goodness official sick fic, and during it marisa is noticeably way more worried for reimus health than everyone else, feeling annoyed when no one can nurse her back to health fast enough.
its also telling in the first place that marisa frequently makes visits to reimus shrine at all, seeing as shes very often a loner, living secluded in the forest of magic and studying danmaku techniques in her spare time. aside from leaving to find more to research, visiting reimu seems to be the primary reason she ever leaves the forest. likewise, reimu is characteristically rude and annoyed at anyone who visits the shrine if they arent donating patrons, wanting nothing more than to be left alone. the sole exception to her surly attitude toward uninvited guests is marisa, whom she expects to show up on a whim rather often, and casually and unconditionally welcomes her if she does.
i know this isnt even close to the amount i can say about them (i havent even MENTIONED their date at the end of 4, for example) but im gonna leave it here at least for now. theres so much to their dynamic even if you ignore the romance side of things. they have been perfected and chiseled down into a beautiful intricate sculpture of a protagonist duo over the years. reimari nation represent

patchouli of knowlege perhaps? orrr momoyo himemushi
oooh patchy. my friend patchie.
shes very cute to me i love her! shes never been my favourite but i mean like you have to love her like u do with all the other EoSD characters theyre just iconic. i love her relationship to marisa especially and also i think its so funny how shes crashing in her eternally 8 year old besties mansion. and that remilia and sakuya constantly make fun of her lovingly (that dialogue in IN about how they have a resident bookworm at home… <3 smile). i mean you give me a sleepy grumpy hermit wizard girl i will appreciate her.
as for momoyo i still havent actually played TH18 so i dont know her very well but i love centipedes so its very cool that theres a touhou girl whos concept revolves around them (esp since shes so strong!!!!). also more tomboys and maybe even butches in touhou please god. also also funny fact the year UM came out a friend asked me to make her a momoyo minecraft skin so i did and uploaded it to skindex and now its the top google search result for ”momoyo himemushi minecraft skin” lol
#or at least it is FOR MEE#its only like 300 something downloada but still. cute that a few ppl found a use for it ^_^

endlessly funny to me how touhou is like. a thing that exists in a lot of people's minds but so many of them have no clue what it really Is.
i just saw someone on some art of marisa be like "oh hell yeah, touhou! got no clue who this girl is but WOOO" and i'm like. DO THEY KNOW?? THAT THIS CHARACTER IS LIKE THE SECOND MAIN PROTAGONIST OF THE WHOLE FRANCHISE?? WHOSE FACE IS LITERALLY THE ICON OF EVERY OFFICIAL MAIN GAME???
i cant even be mad, at this point i've accepted that a lot of people only know touhou through memes or music and probably only recognize cirno or reimu or something and not the literally hundred other characters.
seriously tho how do u not know marisa

Hey guys, Daiki Aomine here
Woah, Yuki and Sanae are here? Guess it's fate 2 people I know are going up against each other. I can personally vouch for Yuki. He's a nice guy, hard working, and talented. For Sanae, I've seen her whenever I decide to take naps at the Moriya Shrine at the top of the Youkai Mountain. She too, is hard working, as well as very high spirited. Both of them give it their all in what they do, so you definitely should be here to support them.
===
ok full disclaimer, while my blog is technically 50% touhou, the bond i have with a3! and its fans is something truly special! so thats why im here to give some propaganda for both sides!!
yuki rurikawa:
[Image ID: A picture of Yuki Rurikawa sipping from a green drink through a red straw. He is holding said drink in the air with his right hand. He is resting his head on his the top of his left hand as he looks at the camera. Around him are various Halloween decorations. End ID]
he's an actor and costume specialist in the makai company! the mankai company is a theater company that does alot of plays! specifically, yuki is part of the summer troupe.
he's characterized as rather frank and bold, often making harsh criticisms. however, these comments are never done to insult, as yuki is a rather open-minded individual!
many of his traits can be attributed to the bullying he has faced in his past. see, he prefers wearing more feminine clothing, which has gotten him some mean-spirited comments about his appearance. thus, he would always have to defend himself...
however, he is rather talented at making clothes! this is why he's selected in making costumes for the other troupe members!! and then, he even becomes an actor himself!!
sanae kochiya:
[Image ID: The cover of the third volume of an official Touhou manga: Wild and Horned Hermit. This picture features Sanae Kochiya and Kasen Ibaraki. In the front of Sanae with a big smile, holding her arms out. Kasen is in the back, also smiling. End ID]
she is the wind priestess of the moriya shrine!! this is a shrine that appeared one day in gensokyo (main setting of touhou) who challenged reimu (the main character) and her shrine (hakurei shrine). oh and her ability is to make miracles happen! (like rain for ur crops)
so yes! sanae's introduction actually had her as one of the acting antagonists in her debut game (Touhou 10 - Mountain of Faith)! however, after he defeat by the hands of reimu (or marisa depending on who you choose) she becomes good! (well most antagonists in touhou arent usually evil in the first place, just a little too ambitious for their own good...)
one of her most interesting characteristics is that she's from the "outside world" as gensokyo is actually a sealed off from the normal world (the world u and i would live in). so she has knowledge about things like technology, science, pop culture, etc. that most characters would never have seen! however, this does mean that she's still been adjusting to the lifestyle in gensokyo as its very much different from the normal world she grew up in... still! she's confident and tries her best! energetic and high spirited, that would best describe her!
so ultimately... follow the voice in your heart and vote for whoever speaks to you if you cant decide between sanae and yuki! theyre both very good characters!
Daiki Aomine heading out
The Green Hair and Pronouns Tournament, Round 3 Match 7
#A3! AND TOUHOU PART 2!!#touhou blog aside i absolutely do not have the heart to betray a3! fans for how much theyve helped on other polls#ESPECIALLY IF ITS YUKI!! hes one of the ones who started it all! nothing for respect for my guy!!!!!!!#and i do like sanae too shes very silly and offers a nice contrast with reimu#vote for who you vibe with!!#polls#poll essays#long post

Review of the Official English Translation of Touhou Suzunaan Forbidden Scrollery
Today’s the day! Well, 2 days from now technically, but I got my hands on a copy today, so today’s the day! I was fully prepared to write a scathing review of the official English translation, luckily I don’t have to do that. I very much enjoyed the translation and found it to be very good overall. There are a few minor complaints which I will address, along with some praise, but if you’d rather not read all that I’ll just say upfront, if you are a Touhou fan who was on the fence about picking this up I do recommend buying this.
Well, without further ado let’s start by addressing the criticisms.
Criticisms
Just to begin with, this is a rather minor one, but it was the cause of 95% of my unease before buying this book, the synopsis on the back cover. There is a specific word choice on the back cover of the book that had me quite worried. “Demonic books…” was the root of my negative expectations for this book. The youma books are center stage as a plot point throughout Forbidden Scrollery, so I was quite concerned that youkai was going to be translated as Demon, and youma was going to be translated as Demonic.
I am happy to report that “Youkai” and “Youma” are left as I spelled them. Yes you read that right “Y O U K A I”. It’s not spelled yokai, it is spelled in the book properly as youkai. Well, I’ll get in to that more specifically in the praise section of this review, but the back cover synopsis was a source of a great deal of unease in the months before the release, it was the synopsis for the series listed on all book retailers, and it was the only translated text available to read for quite some time. After that slow pitch, let’s get into the single worst Translation in this book, Akyu Hiedano.
I don’t get it, I just don’t. I don’t know how this translation was decided upon. You were even so careful to even spell youkai correctly, with the long o sound. The most egregious error must be Akyu. Her given name is Akyuu, with a long u sound. Akyu is incorrect, this spelling is more incorrect than where the “no” was placed. Speaking of the “no” in Hieda no Akyuu, there was quite a bit of discussion around it when this translation was first discovered. I decided not to say anything about it until I had the book in my hand, but now that I do have the book I can see that the translation answers this debate in the form of a TL note.
Spelled right there properly on the front gate to her house, Hieda.
The “no” in and of itself is there to make Akyuu sound important. The no is also not in a proper reading of the kanji making up Akyuu’s family name, it’s present, but it’s to add that societal weight to her name. This inconsistency in the translation makes it seem as if in Chapter 2 Kosuzu walks into the Hieda household to find “Akyu Hiedano” sitting around looking at books inside. I know that this is addressed in the first line on the next page with Kosuzu stating, “Your mansion is always so over-dramatic.”, but it needs to be said. This just doesn’t flow well in English. If the translation of Hiedano is to be kept, please be consistent translating all future instances of Hieda to Hiedano, though I hope this choice is reconsidered. Personally I’d like to see it translated as Akyuu Hieda. I feel that it is shown in Forbidden Scrollery that Akyuu is quite important and comes from a well-to-do household, therefore leaving the no out is an acceptable translation to me, since that societal weight is shown in a different way. Moving forward, there are a few other names this translation choice will change, Hata no Kokoro or Fujiwara no Mokou, should be translated as Kokoro Hata, and Mokou Fujiwara respectively. I do hope someone at Yen Press reads this or perhaps other fan reviews and reconsiders the overall translation of Akyuu’s name, it’s the only really noticeable blemish on this fantastic translation. Other than that, there are 2 instances where I feel that the translation is a bit off. The first occurs in the first chapter right here:
“But I have to say, my favorite book…” “…is this one!” You can see in the line prior Kosuzu is referring to all Imported Books from outside Gensoukyou, however in the next bit she refers to her favorite books, youma books in general. The subject should be plural, reading like this, “But I have to say, my favorite books…” “…are these!”
The second is here:
“…If you must use the picture scroll…” “…try to use it about once a month.” “You may end up summoning a terrible youkai someday.” The entire tone and meaning of these lines is off. Here Mamizou is coercing Kosuzu in a round about way, asking her to read the scroll once a month in order to avoid summoning a “terrible youkai”. In all actuality, she wants to buy the scroll to produce baby tsukumogami so she can empower them during a tanuki banquet. This is her way of forcing a compromise between between her will and Reimu’s will with Kosuzu as the middleman. Kosuzu keeps the scroll under Reimu’s orders, but once a month Mamizou gets her way and has the opportunity to increase the strength of the Tanuki. I don’t have my Japanese copy in front of me, but if I was to re-translate this panel it would be, “It should be okay to read that scroll about once a month. If you don’t, you may end up summoning a truly terrifying youkai someday.” This tone appeals to Kosuzu, she wants to read the youma books in the first place since she’s drawn to the danger of them. If she can read this book that Reimu has designated “off limits” once a month and stop a disaster from happening she’ll do so religiously. Final complaint and it’s a short one. The font choice for the out of bubble, or side speech text was a poor choice. I’m sorry, but I have excellent vision and some of it takes a double take before I can decipher what’s written.
These pictures are zoomed in in comparison to a normal reading position, and those y’s in particular are awful. Whew, personally I think most of that is minor grievances. It’s long, but I do feel the need to express why I feel that these are complaints. Onto praises! Praises Firstly, I noted this earlier. They spelled youkai correctly and used youma books for the official TL, yay! I’m not sure is any of you have played any of the Play Doujin! releases that have been translated into English officially, but they spell youkai as yokai, and it really gets on my nerves considering how often the word is used. They didn’t go all the way and spell Gensokyo properly as Gensoukyou, but getting that changed across the fandom is basically asking for a miracle at this point. Second, there is a pun in chapter 2 that was translated beautifully.
I know it’s a “word-eating worm”, but gramma-tick, just flows with the joke. The Enenra is the main youkai antagonist of chapters 2 and 3, so playing around with the name of this youkai for a joke is fine in my opinion. While I’ve never seen the type of basic math problem (maybe I just don’t remember seeing them) they are talking about, I think making a small pun off of basic school subjects makes much more sense than the fan translated version. With this translation I can at least see a little of the original joke shining through. Final Thoughts As a long time Touhou fan, I was overall very pleased by this translation, and I would recommend it to any Touhou fan. Seriously, go pick up a copy when you can, not enough Touhou fans know there even are manga series. I can’t say that this would be a good place to start in Touhou though, I feel as if Silent Sinner in Blue would be the best Touhou manga to begin with, as it shows more of Reimu and Marisa’s character rather than how they are perceived in the eyes of a third party, that party being Kosuzu. If someone does begin Touhou by reading the English TL of Forbidden Scrollery, I hope you were bewildered to the point where you are asking yourself, “Who were all those charterers, and why do I only have a decent grasp on one weird bookseller?”, you’ve started down a slippery slope friend. In the end I’d like to thank @yenpress for bringing over Forbidden Scrollery officially, overall you guys did a great job. If anyone out there read through my thoughts all the way to the end, thanks for reading!

I am now the proud owner of three copies of this book. Maybe I should reevaluate my priorities in life. I’ll probably get the digital version for future volumes though.
Anyway, as promised I plan to do some side-by-side translation comparisons, along with some general commentary on the series. I’ll do this chapter-by-chapter, so for now we’re just doing chapter 1. Please excuse the fact that I’m taking pictures of the book with my phone.
First of all just a general impression of the book itself: both English and Japanese books are about the same in terms of paper quality and whatnot. The main difference is that the Japanese book has a book jacket surrounding a classier/blander actual cover:
I’m mostly fine with that, but the English book is missing the brief self-introductions by the authors, including Harukawa’s habit of using photos of her cats as her portrait.
Another thing to keep in mind is that the translation is credited to ZephyrRZ, but according to his/her own twitter, s/he was not the translator and Yen Press made some kind of mistake that will be corrected for future printings. So the translator for Yen Press is currently unknown. Moving on:
It should be pretty obvious, but the the browner/yellower image is the Yen Press translation, while the cleaner BW is my own. Blame the lighting at my house. Anyway, remember how I said a little while ago that kanji (Chinese characters) have unlimited possible pronunciations? Well, on this page there was a cute trick used: Marisa says Akyu/Akyuu’s name in kanji, but the furigana next to it say it’s meant to be pronounced ‘anta’, a rather informal way of saying ‘you’. So she means Akyu, but is only saying ‘you’ out loud. These days I’d probably go with exactly what Yen Press did, but back then I just removed all reference to her name. In context, Akyu gets kind of annoyed that everyone’s calling her ‘you’ all the time instead of using her name; this is somewhat rude in Japanese. Incidentally, almost everyone in Touhou is rude.
Okay, several things are going on here. First, I don’t know why I deleted the fancy divider line in Kosusu’s title card: those are in every title card in the series, and I kept most of them. But not here. Weird. Second, I used ‘just’ Akyuu because I was trying to convey a dismissive attitude that Akyuu would be offended by. It’s a subtle difference, but writing is hard. Not sure which is better; maybe Akyuu’s offense stands on its own?
Third, Akyu versus Akyuu. It’s technically more correct to leave in the long vowel sound, since the short Akyu would actually be pronounced differently in Japanese, but strictly speaking it should be Akyū anyway. The double ‘u’ is a weird artifact of fan translations based on a more literal reading of Japanese alphabet. Anyway, I have no problem with Akyu because I personally switched to Akyu halfway through the series and no one even noticed. If anything, I think the double ‘u’ sounds are just confusing to English readers, and so are macrons. For example, anyone who’s pronounced Touhou as Toohoo. Akyu is the easiest to understand and close enough to correct, for an English speaker. That said, some other names would be much harder to change without upsetting people. Look forward to meeting Yomu and Moko (they're never named in FS, iirc).
Fourth, Kosuzu’s actual title. Honestly I’m surprised that they’re so similar. The only difference is singular versus plural, which I don’t think is all that important. For the record, Japanese doesn’t use plurals unless it’s being particularly emphasized, you can just kinda tell by context. I mean, obviously she has two eyes so I thought it should be plural, but the concept is abstract enough that I think singular is fine too. “You have a good eye” etc. Incidentally, in Japanese she was described as a ‘Bibliophilia’, but that didn’t make much sense so both translators corrected it.
No, I’m not going to talk about Hiedano. Well, I’ll say that they probably should have included a translation note, at least.
Once again, we have a pluralization issue with the books. I kind of figured from the picture that Akyu was returning multiple books at once, but I suppose maybe those were already on the table? Sometimes you just have to go with your gut. Translation is ultimately all about being bold, and affirming that your interpretation is the correct one.
The main thing that stand out to me here is Kosuzu saying “Thank you, friend.” Which seems really really weird to me. Do people say that? Maybe I just don’t speak teenage girl though.
“Utterly Normal Magician.” Eh, close enough. It means the same thing. One thing to note though is that ZUN is using English words in every single FS character title. We’ve already seen Bibliophilia/Bibliophile and Savant, so now we have Magician. Every day of my life I am absolutely flabbergasted that ZUN happened to choose the same English word that the fandom already used to describe Marisa. Instead of like Mage or Witch or Magus Night. This is the true miracle.
Other Touhou works also have themed character titles. For example, in WaHH each character title contains a four character idiom, which I’ve found basically impossible to translate and rarely bother.
As I mentioned just now, all the titles here were originally partly in English. So ‘shaman’ isn’t Yen Press’s translation of shrine maiden, it’s ZUN’s translation of shrine maiden. For what it’s worth, that seems fairly common? For example, Fire Emblem uses it for certain light-element mages like Micaiah in Radiant Dawn. Her final class in Japanese is written as 巫女 (shrine maiden) but pronounced as Shaman. This is the same class as Julia and Deirdre from Genealogy of the Holy Way. Anyway, I’ve seen it in other fantasy works too, after I started noticing it. Maybe it’s the first translation listed in some popular J-E dictionary? For what it’s worth, shrine maiden do in fact meet the anthropological definition of shamanism, so it’s not incorrect to call her a shaman. It just sounds a bit weird to us.
I have a much bigger problem with the use of the word ‘beautiful’ in her title. The Japanese word used there is 素敵 (suteki) which has meanings like “wow, amazing, cool, wonderful.” You can use suteki to compliment someone’s looks, but in my opinion that’s mostly in the same sense you can say someone “looks amazing” in English. And in the context of Touhou, I simply can’t imagine ZUN choosing to describe Reimu as beautiful. That’s just not a part of her character, nor is it something ZUN seems like he’d particularly care about.
Ah yes, the infamous footnote. For the record, the footnote was there in Japanese too, i just deleted it because it seemed pointless, at least in English. In Japanese she uses the word 稀覯本 (kikounbon) which I can only assume is relatively technical and obscure. Sadly I’m not well-versed enough in Japanese to tell the difference between an obscure word and one I just happen to not know, but there seem to be plenty of other shorter words for rare books, so I’d imagine this is meant to show off Marisa’s collector mania. But... there’s no good way to put that into English so the footnote becomes redundant. I now fully expect someone to come forward with some obscure word for rare books that I don’t know in English either.
For the record, I also like how they put Reimu’s dialog here better than how I did it.
Oh. My. God. Honorifics! Our oldest of friends, and greatest of enemies. Honestly, -san is so ubiquitous and generic that you can ignore it 90% of the time, but in Touhou it’s different. In Touhou, everyone is a rude bastard who rarely even uses someone else’s name, so Kosuzu using -san with these two shows that she treats them with a basic level of respect that’s somewhat unusual for this series. I chose to go with Miss because it kinda makes sense to me that you’d call someone slightly older than you Miss with their first name, but I can also totally understand the feelings of the translator who just throws their hands up in the air and says “C’mon, our target audience already understands this stuff, so do we really need to bother?!”
Thank the gods that we’re not dealing with -sama.
The term tsukumo-book (tsukumobon) does in fact show up exactly this once.
Also, I think Yen Press did a better job with the rest of the line. I know I was going back and forth on “phenomena” but ultimately decided to go for vague.
Yen Press definitely had a better voice for the book. I respect that. But mostly I just thought it was funny how they used Blood Needlegrass when I used Bloodneedle Grass. I’ll give the point to Yen Press on this one because needlegrass is a real thing.
“We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.” Great minds think alike. And/or we both love our cliches a bit too much.
On another note, I haven’t mentioned this until now, but they’ve been “translating” all these sound effects while leaving the Japanese ones in place. All I have to say about that is that I would totally do that too (more often anyway) except for the fact that this one person once praised me for replacing all the sound effects and I feel like I’d disappoint that person. I hate sound effects though. Especially non-sounds like “carefree”. What’s the sound of someone being carefree in English? Seriously, I need to know.
And... that’s that for chapter 1. Sorry if anyone wanted me to go over every single line, but I tried to stick to the ones that I found most interesting. If any of you have any particular line you’d like to ask about, feel free. You can expect chapter 2 sometime before the next volume comes out, but no guarantees.

1. What’s your favourite anime?
I’ll just go with Hetalia because it was the first huge fandom I’ve been into and because I met my highschool friends through it! I saw a drawing of England in a sketchbook, freaked out a lil because weeb me found someone with similar interests, we became friends and I became friends with her friends and others too
I like Sailor Moon too, it was the very first animu I ever bumped into. Someone was throwing out old Sailor Moon comic magazines and I ended up taking them with myself. They were basically screencaps of each episode turned into a comic. I dunno if screencap comics were a thing anywhere else
2. Are you introvert or extrovert?
An introvert but I’m feeling more extroverted than usual recently!
3. Any bad habits?
Doing homework in the last moment. And picking on my lips and nails
4. Who’s your favourite fictional character?
It’s the same thing all over again, I can’t just choose one fave </3
Yoshika, Koishi, Alice, Orin, Marisa, Yuuka, Mokou, Hatate, Eternity from Touhou
Shinjiro, MC, FeMC, Chihiro, Aigis from Persona 3 (+Portable)
South Italy from Hetalia
5. Do you like pineapple on pizza? (I do >:3)
Cursed pizza
6. Have you ever experienced deja vu?
I did lots, the one I can remember right now is that I was an elementary schooler Mana and I was eating scones, then felt like I’ve bit into these scones before
7. Are you early bird or night owl?
*insert exhausted pigeon joke here*
Ex-early birb and ex-night owl...? When I was in highschool I had to wake up at six every morning and when I got into college I stayed up late lots because I didn’t have early classes
Now I’m very good at getting at least 7 hours of sleep at night
If you’re reading this, I’m challenging you to go to sleep earlier today 🐈
8. What is/was your fav school subject?
Art, how surprising x u x I liked English language classes too because the teacher was great and it was one of the easier classes. Same for Italian but we progressed slowly and it was un-fun at times
I thiiink I like my debate class the best in college
9. What do you do when you’re bored?
I either doodle, play stuff on my phone or check stuff on the internet and end up with 78 opened tabs
10. Would you rather be able to fly or read mind?
Reading minds would be great but knowing myself I'd be very sad if I read disturbing thoughts and wouldn’t be able to un-read them. Being satori is pain
So I pick flying!
11. What’s your zodiac sign?
Aries with Gemini rising, do whatever you want with this info x u x
---------
I don’t have 11 people I could tag here and I’m not feeling up to making up 11 questions now, so that’s all for this post!

that's not me but uh yuukamari/yuuali
Yuukamariwho’s the cuddler: Marisa, she loves them hugs dude who makes the bed: Yuuka, Marisa tends to just cling to the bedsheets 'you'll bury me before I get out' 'very well then'who wakes up first: Yuuka, she needs to tend to her garden...maybe stroke Marisa's hairwho has the weird taste in music: Yuuka just likes swing/jazzy music, but Marisa manages to get her into rock, so Marisa.who is more protective: They both are, but Marisa more directly so, Yuuka is more passive-aggressivewho sings in the shower: Y u u k a, she makes up little tunes, when Marisa calls her out on it, she says that singing to plants helps them grow. who cries during movies: Marisa, Yuuka, must, maintain, her stoic, image. Marisa sometimes just overexaggerates just so she can hug Yuuka, 'if you want to hug me just do so' 'but then I wouldn't get to nuzzle my face in your cleavage' '...y-you can do that anyway' who spends the most while out shopping: Because stealing doesn't count as spending, Yuuka generally pays when Marisa steals, and usually just needs to pay for tending to such a huge garden.who kisses more roughly: When it comes to regular kisses, Marisa. When it comes to deep kisses, Yuuka without a doubt. who is more dominate: While I don't think of Yuuka as that much of a sadist a la touhou meme, Yuuka. (Not that I'm biased bc I want her to whack me with her umbrella) my rating of the ship from 1-10: honestly anything with Yuuka, anything with Marisa is great- so together a 10Yuuali: (Windows Era bc no younglice) who’s the cuddler: Yuuka, Alice is rather cold and gets distracted easily so Yuuka has to nuzzlewho makes the bed: Alice's dollswho wakes up first: Alice has taken to waking up and enjoying watching Yuuka wake up, it then becomes a competition of who can wake up earlierwho has the weird taste in music: They both have similar tastes, but now Yuuka is a Rock fan Yuukawho is more protective: Yuuka, because Alice knows Yuuka can protect herself (doesn't mean she doesn't want you to sweep her bridal style Ali...) who sings in the shower: As stated previously Yuuka, Alice is more of a hummerwho cries during movies: Alicewho spends the most while out shopping: Both, they're both femmes who have to deal with (in)animate objectswho kisses more roughly: Yuuka as fuck dude, Alice just melts into her kisseswho is more dominate: Alice has a habit of appearing submissive then doing a 180 and going all out. Yuuka prefers to dom but dang Dude she'll let Alice take her to wonderlandmy rating of the ship from 1-10: ehhh probably a 7.5 I see them more as friends or a big-little sis relationship, but in true touhou fashion the more you think of it the more you love it

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ASKING THIS
THERES SO MANY I LIKE BUT NGL I TEND TO STICK TO WHAT'S """CANON""" IF THAT MAKES SENSE im just very vanilla i feel like

i think hisami and zanmu from the new game are super cute (im a big fan of the super obsessed love interest x person who appreciates and reciprocates their weird displays of love) (idk what trope that is sorry 😭)
i love a bit of mokou x kaguya but the fluffy kind where they play video games together
SAKI X YACHIE SAKI X YACHIE SAKI X YACHIE ARENT THEY SO CUTE I THINK THEY'RE ADORABLE OMGGGGGGGGG merry and renko is ofc a fav too <3 their friendship is incredible and i cant stress enough how badly i want to see what becomes of them and the sealing club

My friend reacts to some Touhou characters
Marisa: She’s pretty cute, actually. I’m still kinda mad that she has orange eyes, because it’s just stupid.
Elis: If I see one more blonde red-eye, I’m gonna scream. And for some reason, she has a weird silver lollipop, but if she casts a spell on me, I’m gonna be real mad. There’s a big… something on her back.
Ellen & Sokrates: I don’t have anything to say. She’s just, hot. She’s cute. But why is there a cat there? What’s with her dress, too? What is up with that? It’s dumb.
Kotohime: Why does she look like a man? She kind of reminds me of a really bad otome I played.
Kana: She’s cute. She looks like she could be cute if any person with artistic talent drew her. But what’s with her hat? What is she trying to protect herself from?
Sara: Red-dress girl. I don’t like her already. Girls with pink hair also suck.
Luize: White dress with the purple accent who also looks like a guy. Her fedora is kinda cool but she looks like an annoying businesswoman. She has a weird french thing going on with her clothes.
Alice: Blue dress lady looks like a lost girl. I don’t know what’s going on little girl, but you need help. She’s also an Alice in Wonderland rip-off.
Yuki & Mai: They look like gay. White-dress girl looks like she’s about to stab someone. She’s wearing those surgery boots for some reason. The blonde… is just… I know I’m a hypocrite for saying this, but blondes look bad in dark clothing. She looks stupid and she needs to wear her colors, which are light colors. Why can’t people just have normal eyes in this series?
Rumia: She looks like Danny (Angels of Death). She’s gonna scoop out my peepers. She looks very heterosexual.
Cirno: Oh, she’s cute, I don’t have any complaints about her. She looks like she’s gonna pierce ice directly through my soul, and I don’t really mind.
Meirin: Ahh… okay… I’m pretty sure she has a communist Russia hat. That means that I have a communist on my hands. Honestly, that means she has to die. She’s a commie.
Yuyuko: She also looks like a man. She looks like she’s gonna take my soul. I wouldn’t be surprise if that’s accurate. She also kinda looks like a nurse. But like a fake nurse. She’s gonna steal my soul while I’m injured. Also, her pink hair is gross.
Reisen U. Inaba: She looks like she’s gonna sacrifice me to her rabbit god on the blood moon. I cannot describe the tribal fear when I see her.
Kaguya: First of all, she reminds me of someone who I knew from first grade; she has hair that bridged on her ass. She looks annoying. Maybe she could cut her hair. Calm yourself, Rapunzel.
Aya: She’s pretty cute. Apparently she has wings, but on her ass, and that’s… she’s got booty wings, so that’s pretty cool. For some reason, she has a little mini hat on.
Medicine: Ellen’s emo older sister. The fairy is her OC.
Kisume: The girl in the bucket is clearly really small. We both know how I feel about small, green gremlins. I like her already. She’s on my good Touhou character list.
Yamame: Weird blonde girl is wearing brown for some reason? She has yellow highlights on her dress? She has a bad fashion sense, she’s ugly. She has brown eyes, though. That’s a rarity.
Sunny, Luna, & Star: Alright, so, blue… wait, is this Heathers? Where is Duke? Did Veronica kill her? Anyway, blue-dress girl looks cute. I bet her name is Sakura. Redhead looks like eight. Her clothing adds to it. Blonde hair girl looks like I just killed her dog. Screw you, too, curly nuts.
Wakasagihime: Blue and green girl is just… I don’t know… her hair is too bright and her dark-forest green dress doesn’t go well whatsoever. She has like a.. tail? I’m not sure what that is. She’s ugly, though.
Sekibanki: I… what… she looks like a cheap magic trick that went wrong. This stupid girl is walking around carrying her head. Little Red Riding Head.
Kagerou: Then there’s the furry. She’s the biggest furry, she has weird ears or something. She’s sinful.
Benben & Yatsuhashi: They’re both cute. The blue-hair girl has a weird guitar thing, but it’s cute. She has a mullet apparently, a really long one, too. She’s not wearing shoes, either. Brunette, I really like her, she has good fashion sense. She has that purple that accents with her friend… she just looks good.
Seija: Upside-down emo girl.
Shinmyoumaru: She has like a Dream Catcher… and there’s like a fish in her hand? There’s a loop thing down there. I don’t know what it is. It’s like a fish catcher. Her hat is dumb. She looks like she does some embarrassing stuff. Her dress is open, which is weird.
Raiko: Now for hot girl. I don’t know her power is, but it looks like she controls planes. Her hair goes with her jacket. I love her tie, and it makes her way hotter. The tie goes with the boots, which goes with the boots. She’s just cute. She looks like she’s 12, but I’m 14, so it’s okay.
Seiran: She looks like she likes really long black dick. I don’t know, it’s just what I’m thinking of. The blue hair versus the red eyes is so ugly. Also, she’s a furry. Her outfit is so…
Ringo: Oh no, she’s hot. Red doesn’t go with blonde, though!
Doremy: What is… what is going on? First of all, she has a tail situation down there, and then she’s like… I think that’s a bubble gum bubble there. And then she’s got like a Santa hat on, even though she’s clearly not Santa. This is cultural appropriation. She’s got blue hair, which doesn’t go with literally anything she’s wearing. She has blue eyes, though - that goes.
Sagume: She looks like an angel, but she also looks like she’s gonna kill me. I don’t trust her. Her stupid red bow doesn’t go with her dress. She looks like she needs to calm down. Why do you have boots with a dress? She’s annoying.
Clownpiece: Weird patriot girl looks really annoying. She looks like an annoying straight girl who attends 4th of July parties. She’s waving around a sparkler.
Junko: Crazy-flowy hair girl looks hot. But her eyes and sleeves are lame. She’s really pale. REALLY pale. She looks like she’s a white as a sheet.
Hecatia: She’s hot. She’s just hot. I want her to crush me with her world-holding hands. I don’t know about her fashion sense, but it’s okay. I don’t know your punk things, but whatever floats your boat. But she has a third world on her head or something.
Eternity: I don’t like fairies. I never have. She looks especially dumb. She has like a bowl cut. She’s got a weird thing coming out of her head. Can you just not show me this again? She’s gross and ugly.
Nemuno: Cleaver girl seriously needs to calm down. Her dress is like… teared. She has a scarf that’s all over here or something. The question is her sleeves. They aren’t connected to anything. Maybe she’s coming them up with magic. At least she’s aesthetic.
Aunn: Uh, she’s pretty cute, but like she has a Hawaiian shirt-looking thing going on. Also, she’s got a horn thing. I think multiple horns. That’s cool, I guess. If she wants to stick up my ass, that’s perfectly fine with me. Her hair is weirdly curly.
Narumi: That’s snow-hat girl. I know that she tries to kill you, so I’m kind of skeptical.
Satono: Stupid pink girl. Ugly shade of pink, no fashion sense. Is that a maid outfit? It’s ugly. She has like a bean bag on her head, too.
Mai: Slightly less annoying clone of the pink one. I feel like she will actually run you through with that bamboo.
Okina: She looks like a mommy. I don’t care if she tries to kill me. Okay, but why is she wearing a Mickey Mouse hat? That’s so weird. And she has this weird fire but I thought her thing is doors. Her clothes are kinda dumb, so… whatever.
Sumireko: She’s got like, Pagan symbols on her cloak, which scares me. She has knobby knees. She has too-high socks for like what’s going on; if you wear socks, you have to wear pants that cover them, or with a dress long enough that cover them. She looks like a cheapskate magician.

3 6 and 8 for marisa !! :0c
3. how long have u ided as ur main kin?
umm like a year maybe? it’s funny because when i first got into touhou i was immediately drawn to marisa in a “damn. relatable.” kind of way without even knowing much about the series (i had only played LLS at that point, back before there was an english patch for it, and read an incomplete translation online) but i had not ever heard otherkin/fictionkin before. it wasn’t until after i found that i had asriel as a kintype (this was not long after undertale’s release and UT got me back into touhou actually) that i looked back at marisa and went “..........fuck” and then i proceeded to spend the next like five months denying it until i got a vivid memory while meditating and gave up on pretending. it would’ve been around last march that i finally accepted marisa as a kintype.
6. name something from ur canon u didn’t/don’t like
mmm mm m mm mm well, in my second canon i had like, a really bad reputation for quite a long time bc i was a shitty kid and unfortunately made a name for myself as a shitty 14 year old, making it hard to shake off that reputation. when i was 14 i was just... Chaotic Chaotic bc i had suddenly found myself on my own and had basically zero (0) social skills. i was a terrible little shit and i learned pretty quickly that i couldn’t get away with doing whatever the hell i wanted and just fighting whoever tried to stop me, but by the time i chilled tf out some and stopped being so objectively terrible it was too late, everyone knew me as the violent, thieving, uncontrollable teenaged little shit and it stayed that way until i was in my early 20s, which i wasn’t too happy about bc i kinda just wanted to be friends with everyone and some people really hated me (especially patchouli, she fucking loathed me pretty much. i can remember two decent interactions with her and all the others were unmitigated disasters.) so that sucked!
8. if u could meet anyone from ur canon now, who would it be?
i really want to find reimu from my second canon and both rei and mima from my first (particularly mima). it’d also be cool if i could also find alice from my second, she was one of my best friends. or yuuka, i was really close with her. idk just the entire playable character squad were my pals and i’d love to find any of them, but i guess if i had to choose one person it’d either be reimu from my second canon or mima from my first.
this got really long oops
