nalori tabris: mixed feelings. thinks their cause is noble and likes the fact that it gives people with no future an opportunity to start over. resents being drafted and the corruption that occurs after the Fifth Blight.

rosamond hawke: no thoughts. glad those guys stopped the Blight. seem kind of intense.

sabine trevelyan: meh. thought of them kind of like myths, larger than life and heroic, but probably overhyped. after Here Lies the Abyss, basically thinks they’re wallowing, flagellating, useless losers obsessed with their own nobility.

Ohhhh this would have been beyond special for both of them. Lewis's last home race with Mercedes, surrounded by the people who've rooted for him since he was a kid?? (I still get choked up just thinking about the radio immediately after ugggghhhh)

You knew he would win of course. You always say that even when you don't think it - and you'll never tell him that sometimes you don't think he'll win. Because you know he can. He's fucking Lewis Hamilton. You're crying before he gets past the checkered flag, and when you hear his voice in your ears, his emotions boiling over, you're sobbing.

Two and a half years since he's won a race. As the time has grown longer you've of course seen his worry, heard his fears. "I'm getting old now darling, maybe..."

He's never finished that thought aloud - maybe I'll never win another - and now you're glad he hasn't. Because he's done it - here, at home.

It's tears and laughter. Hugs among his family and the Mercedes team that could crack a rib. And then there's him.

Lewis.

Forehead to helmet, teary eyes staring into teary eyes. His cheeks are wet and the hands gripping your shoulder are trembling, just as his voice. "We did it darling."

"You did it."

"Couldn't have without you."

More tears and more laughter. Champagne flows for hours it seems but it's really for the cameras. For the team. Then it's just you and him and Roscoe, piled up on the bed. Lewis loves to groan that he can't hang with the "kids" and party like he used to, like the world expects him to. The celebration is lowkey and filled with love, like everything Lewis does.

A quiet talk while his head rests in your lap, Roscoe snoring next to you. Hands linked, and you can hear the childish wonder in his voice as he talks about what Silverstone means to him. There's dinner with his family soon, but for the time just him and you. And later, when the two of you crawl into bed again his lovemaking is sweet, befitting the emotions of the day.

Many different meanings; textbook, temperature, animalistic, expressions, and scientific. But it’s the one word you’ve highlighted in your mental and verbal vocabularies upon becoming involved with Eddie Munson. The way he speaks with such passion during a campaign, how his mouth caresses the microphone, the depth of his voice echoing through when he’s on stage, chocolate eyes smoldering until they practically melt into engaged, blown pupils, jutted knee propped to help rest his enchanting instrument, his hands wrapped around the stand, fingers tapping to the beat. The heat of his elements.

As for your own? Watching him, working him over like he’s your dinner, your prey. How he bends into the hood of your shitty car in a cutoff top, hair pulled up by your claw clip, sweat soaking the pits and entire back of his shirt, tight ripped jeans shorts and bare feet, chain clinging to the front when he turns around, inked forearm swiping as his slick face. Uncaring, uninhibited. He slides his camels and zippo combo from his back pocket, nosing the cellophane, pinching a filter beneath his teeth, pulling it out, tossing the pack onto a nearby lawn chair he’d been nursing a beer in during breaks in this smolder summer heat, and he cups his precious nicotine, lighting it a blaze.

It’s when he blows it out, that narrowing his between his teeth, a twitch of his jaw, that you’re demanding, increasing your steps down the gravel drive.

“Put it out. Now. I need you.”

He nearly coughs on the smoke, before recovering with a smirk. But he’s catching on, quick. And even through that slight body odor emanating, he’s following your collar twisting lead around the side of his Uncle’s trailer. Because heat is helping Eddie cage you in, one hand above you on the cheap siding of his home, heat is tangling your limbs together in slippery, sliding, slopes, heat is helping him work his shorts, his boxers, your own pants and panties down — and heat is letting him fuck his entire day’s work stress deep into you, all while looking at each other with smirks of delicious bravado.
